1. How does your media
product represent
particular social groups?
2. Social Groups:
Social groups are collectives of people who share similar
characteristics and tastes. For example, a group of people
who all share a love of stand-up comedies would be a
social group.
There are two types of social groups; Primary and
Secondary.
Primary social groups include those who are closer to you,
such as immediate family members or close friends,
whereas secondary social groups include people who you
share interests with, but may not know personally
3. Our representation of social groups:
Our film only features two people, thud
presenting little in the form of social groups.
However, what our film does represent is
aspects of society such as age and gender.
Our protagonist and antagonist are both male
which could represent how males are the
ones who get themselves into situations our
film presents.
4. Age and Gender
The age of our protagonist is around 20-30. This is to
reinforce how the investigator may be inexperienced and
thus finds himself in such a situation as portrayed in the
film. The investigator is also male, this is to display more
of a sense of threat and not to present the stereotypical
‘damsel in distress’ idea. The majority of thrillers also
have male protagonists with the exception of some
Angelina Jolie films.
