1. This is a presentation of all
of the evaluation questions
of which I have answered
2. Evaluation question 1
Hi first of all our media product is in the form of a thriller opening which
does indeed use various thriller conbentions used in other
professional media products.
Suspense is a very good example of my point, this typical example is
commonly used in thrillers made worldwide, from recent ones to
old ones.My group has used thin in the thriller to good effect.
Specifically it is in the form of:
The antagonist who has just been shoved by a common person then
plots revenge, however the audience does not know what he will
do and what he is capable of, thus suspense is built because the
audience are waiting to know what the antagonist will do.
3. • Our final media product definitely consists of various media
techniques used in professional films such as the point of view shot
and the over the shoulder shot, and many others. So all in all
based on the use of various media techniques it is undisputed that
our opening can be compared to real thriller openings.
• Also the way in which we have edited the thriller opening was
indeed very professional and I truly believe the editing contains the
same quality of other thriller openings.
• So another valuable point is that our final media product is more or
less extremely similar to the urban drama kidulthood. Our product
has drawn comparisons to the cult classic perhaps due to the
setting of our film.
4. Evaluation question 2
• Well first of all our film was very short (approx 2 min) so
unfortunately we could not include a broad amount of social groups
in the film.
• Well in the film itself, there are only 3 characters throughout the film
of which all of them are black. The main character has been
portrayed as a black thug who easily and foolishly gets angry
easily. The protagonist of the film is also black and is portrayed as
a typical middle class black teenager, eg wearing a puffy hoody,
jeans and trainers. Also the antagonist is somewhat portrayed as
atypical black teenager, eg he is wearing a big puffy hoody and is
wearing leather trainers. So all in all, the characters in the film are
more or less depicted as typical middle class black teens with the
subtle exception of the antagonist
5. • It could be argued that the way in which the antagonist is portrayed
is extremely negative due to the fact that he is depicted as a thug,
a bad person which damages society. This is a negative way in
which he is portrayed because the film is somewhat enhancing the
argument that black people are very violent people and people who
get angry easily-which is very very stereotypical.
6. Evaluation question 3
• Well obtaining the knowledge that films which share the same
thriller conventions and similar storylines actually do quite well in
cinema and do generate aa buzz perhaps due to their respective
entertaining storylines. This buss provides incentives for film
makers to make sequels to the film and gain even more money, an
example of this is kidulthood and adulthood respectively which
gained overwhelming reception from critics and fans. So bearing
that in mind I would quickly want my film to be distributed by a
major studio such as 20th century fox, universal, etc. They normally
distribute films that go on to do very well in the box office, due to
their expertise in promoting films, eg Avatar, Twilight.
• So bearing this in mind if I alloww one of the big 6 to promote aand
distribute my film I know it will do well in box office
7. • Which would result in me making a lot of profit. So to sumarrise,
selling the rights of the film to a big name distributor will lead to my
film being showcased worldwide which also would increase my
profits
• I also would like if the above doesn’t work, to put my film onto a
social networking videos haring site, such as youtube seeing as a
majority of my target audience regularly visit theses websites, so
this will increase the chances of the film being a success.
8. Evaluation question 4
• Well I attracted my audience basically by the extreme nature of my
media products storyline. It consists of a middle class black thug
who gets angry easily, gets shoved by a common person and to his
advantage knows where he lives and decides to break into his
house and beat up his little brother.
• The thriller holds the target audiences attention again simply by the
interesting nature of the storyline, also it does this by the wonderful
acting of the cast in the film. So I believe that there are various
factors which holds the audiences attention and another is also due
to the broad media techniques we used throughout the film, eg
POV shot. It would be very boring for the film to just consist of
limited filming techniques, thus their attention is somewhere else,
fortunately for us this is not the case.
9. • We received tremendous amounts if positive feedback from our
target audience. The general consensus was that the film was not
boring but was thoroughly enjoyable due to the extremity of the
films storyline. Our target audience was also complimenting us on
the range of filming techniques we used which ultimately helped
the film to essentially not be monotonous.
• Even though this was our least type of praise, we were still praised
on our acting, despite a dialogue not being in the film at all.
