The document proposes a vision to manage the River Chitral in Chitral, Pakistan called Vision2030. The single focus of the vision is to transform the River Chitral from a destructive force to the most valuable asset of the local people through a 10-year master plan. In context of sustainable development of Chitral, I urge the
government to focus on one single agenda: The reclamation of
land from the river and revival of the wasted river beds
(showtars) into cultivable land.
This can be done through a “10-year master-plan for control of
river and revival and rehabilitation of Showtars".
There are about 20 Showtars in Chitral that can double the
cultivable land in the valley if revived and rehabilitated.
