During July of this year a commercial plane from Asiana Airlines(Airplane that goes between South
Korea and America) crashed in San Francisco.When the plane was about to land the automated
flight system was on(autopilot system) and the auto throttle was supposed to be on to land
safely.The auto throttle was not on so the plane fell onto the runway and crashed.This is not the first
time this happened.This just proves that pilots are getting addicted to the autopilot system. The

Abstract
Flight test data acquired from a Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft was used to validate a corresponding
Level 6 Flight Training Device. Data collected from the FTD was used to develop the "skyway"
training aid. Potential use may include visual augmentation towards improved training of flight
students learning the lazy eights maneuver. Analyses of acquisitioned flight test data will be used to
evaluate the effectiveness of flight training devices as an instrument for data collection and visual
augmentation generation.

Research and data for this report were acquired using the Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft and Frasca
manufactured Level 6 flight training device (FTD). The Cessna 172S is a single engine, prop–driven
general aviation aircraft most commonly used for training purposes. With a three–seat training
configuration, high wing design, and fixed, tricycle–type landing gear, this aircraft was optimally
equipped for the student pilot. Similar to the actual aircraft, the Level 6 FTD must have
aerodynamic programming, operating systems, and control loading congruent to that of the Cessna.

My Personal Journey
The past three years of my life feel like the only part of my life where I have truly lived. The
massive majority of my most cherished memories and greatest challenges have taken place within
the last few years. On December 26th 2015 my mom surprised me with a intro flight at my local
flight school as a Christmas present; it was a simple flight up and down the Miami coastline at five
hundred feet right as the sun was setting, and I was hooked the instant my instructor Rudy gave me
the yoke. Seeing the city lights ignite the coast as we calmly trekked over downtown Miami was an
image that incited a sense of wonder and longing in me that I had never experienced before. That
short one hour flight went by in an instant, and before I knew it I was back one week later to begin
my journey to where I am today. Over the course of two and one half months I balanced sophomore
year of highschool with my private pilot training, finishing two weeks after my seventeenth birthday
on March 31st. The next week I started my instrument and breezed through it in two months, and I
quickly moved onto my commercial. The biggest obstacle of my commercial training was Time. By
the time I was done with my instrument and ready to knock out my next stage of training, I learned
that one needed to be eighteen in order to take the checkride. This happened to work out nicely, as it

Private Pilot! Essay examples
After 6 months of flying, I was ready for the check–ride. I've been ready since before Christmas,
having completed my training on the 23rd. I scheduled my check–ride on the 28th. That day was
quite interesting. I went to the flight school to check everything over with Josh and make sure I was
ready. Then we called the examiner to schedule the check–ride. It was about 5pm, and Josh made
the call, which was very fortunate for me as it interrupted the examiner's dinner. He said to have me
to call him later and we would get things squared away.

I was planning the flight to Murfreesboro, KMBT. It was an easy enough flight to plan considering I
had already done a flight out that way. I even managed to include a little VOR navigation since the
Hinch Mountain VOR is along the way. Even though it has been out of service a lot, I felt it couldn't
hurt to include it. I did all the requisite calculations since the examiner had given me mock weather.
I also planned on waiting until the night before to check the real weather and do real calculations.
In the mean time, I did the paperwork and hammered at the little oral exam prep book I had
purchased. By Wednesday, I had filled out the IACRA paper work about four times; it is a good idea
in theory, but leaves a little to be desired in practice. After ironing out all the details, I was ready to
go. Unfortunately, I hadn't considered that the flight school would close on New Years Day which
led to a bit of a shock when I got the email about the closure. I immediately called to make sure I
was still good to go. As it turns out, the examiner has a key so it wasn't a problem (though it almost
became one, more on this later).

That short one hour flight went by in an instant, and before I knew it I was back one week later to begin my journey to where I am today. Over the course of two and one half months I balanced sophomore year of highschool with my private pilot training, finishing two weeks after my seventeenth birthday on March 31st. The next week I started my instrument and breezed through it in two months, and I quickly moved onto my commercial. The biggest obstacle of my commercial training was Time.
