2. Camera and Tripod This is a tripod, it is called a tripod because it sits
on three legs. It is used to stabilise cameras. It
also provides a platform for tracking shots and
pans. Using a tripod can remove shaky cam and
allows for greater height.
This is a camera, it is used to take pictures
and capture videos. The camera can be used
in conjunction with the tripod. A camera
allows a person to capture a moment that
they enjoy or to film an event. The invention
of the camera allowed the drama industry to
produce a production set in different
locations, also there wasn’t as much pressure
on actors anymore as they could do a scene
and not have to do it again, night after night.
Plus actors and directors could get a rest
from production.
Also, cameras allowed an actor to see how
well and how they look whilst performing.
3. Mac, Final Cut Express and
GarageBand
This is an apple Mac, it is a type of
computer, designed and
manufactured by Apple. It has
various applications which are
unavailable on an ordinary PC. Final
Cut Express and GarageBand are
two applications which can be found
on a Mac. Macs are very fast and
contain a lot of useful apps, they are
also less likely to get a virus or be
attacked by malware. However,
Macs are very expensive and
windows media services aren’t
compatible.
Final Cut Express is a video
editing software. The
application allows a user to
trim clips and add effects as
well as putting multiple clips
together to form one complete
film. Final Cut also allows for
the addition of sound, be it
non-diegetic or diegetic sound.
Final cut is useful as a person
can have multiple clips
showing at once, plus it has
multiple levels, so video clips
can overlap. This creates a
great effect if used well.
However, once a clip is edited
it has to be rendered, which
takes quite a long time.
GarageBand is a music creation
software, it allows a user to edit
existing music or create their own,
either by using ‘loops’, in app
instruments or they can record
their own instruments.
GarageBand has lots of loops to
choose from, so a person can
create unique pieces of music.
However the electronic
instruments are hard to use as the
keyboard or mouse has to be used,
which makes it difficult to do
intricate piano pieces.
4. PC’s, YouTube and Blogger
PC’s are the most common
computers, they are generally
compatible with most
applications and software's. They
are also cheaper than Mac’s.
They are also easier to use and
organise. However they are more
susceptible to viruses than Macs.
YouTube is an online video
distributer. It allows people to
upload and view a variety of clips
and images. However it does
have adverts which can be quite
annoying and a person has to
have a Google account in order to
upload videos. But an account is
not needed to view videos.
Blogger is an online app which allows
a person to create a blog. A Google
account is needed in order to use the
app. Blogger is extremely useful as it
allows other people to view work or
information which is put online. You
can upload word and PowerPoint
documents, but the process isn’t
simple, so using Slideshare and Scrib
and embedding a code is better and
simpler.
5. This is me using a Mac, a camera and tripod can
be seen in the background. I have been using all
of the stated technologies in my coursework, plus
a few others such as Word, PowerPoint,
Slideshare, Scrib and many others.
PowerPoint has helped me to
produce presentations of various
parts of my coursework, this one
being an example.
Word has allowed me to write
texts, scripts, essays and
evaluations of my work. I
used word when evaluating
my preliminary task.
Slideshare has allowed me
to embed my PowerPoint's
onto my blog. This allows
the examiner to view the
presentations with ease
and I can quickly upload
multiple presentations at
once.
Scrib has been used to
upload word
documents to my blog.
It basically does the
same thing as
slideshare, but for
documents rather than
presentations.
