3. Vampire Weekend – Modern Vampires
Of The City The image desaturation
reflects the style of
their genre.
The image looks like
a misty/foggy setting
like a forests, but
using buildings.
Linking to the album
title – Modern
Vampires of the City.
The skyline of the
city looks
mountainous, a
setting where you’d
‘expect’ to see a
Vampire castle.
The titles contrast,
but it would be
unclear to someone
who didn’t know the
band, which is the
band’s name and
which is the album
title.
The font of the
album title looks
very old style,
perhaps
referencing the
era when
vampires were a
famous topic.

5. Drake – Nothing Was The Same
The Image has been
edited in such a way
that it looks like it’s a
painting, draws
attention to the
detail.
The album cover may
have been used to
reflect the style of the
music. The boy looks
like Drake as a child –
the songs may be a
about his experiences
and memories.
The cover art is very
minimalist, but still
very interesting. It
draws attention to it
because it is
different to other
albums of the same
genre.
A drawback of this
cover is the
position of the
titles. If a person
did not know about
Drake, they would
not know what the
words at the
bottom meant.

7. Katy Perry – One Of The Boys
Her clothes and
pose look old
school, could be
making reference to
pin-up girls.
The minimal
clothing is probably
trying to promote
the album by using
the artist’s physical
look.
Although the
pose and
presentation
could appeal to
men, the colour
and style attract
a young female
audience (which
is the major
audience group
for Katy Perry).
Titles are big
and bold and
match the
imagery,
informing about
the album in a
creative way.
If this album was
released in the
summer the setting
would appeal for
the time of the
year.
