Applications of nanotechnology

  • 4. Electronics  Flexible mobiles.  Sensitive touch – detect even 1 atom.  Battery charge in 5 seconds!! (electrical conductivity).  Storage, transformation, weight reduction, manufacturing developments.  Eco friendly recyclable.  Cadmium selenide nanocrystals, Ag, Cu, C nanotubes, etc.,
  • 5. Environment  Desalination of water.  Fe – organic solvent cleaning in water.  Silver nanoclusters – reduce pollution caused by propylene oxide.  Epoxy containing carbon nanotubes – increase electricity generated by windmills.  Increase storage of solar cells.
  • 6. Fashion  Cosmetics: Titanium dioxide – UV protective.  Silver nanoparticles - kill bacteria (odour-resistant cloth).  Skin care - vitamins deeper into the skin.  Armour dress – nanofabrics.  Clothes that react automatically to the environment.  Garments water- and stain-repellent or wrinkle-free.  Carbon nanoparticle.
  • 7. Agriculture  Growth of plant hormone.  Increase yield and fertilization.  Agriculture waste products in production of graphene.  Carbon nanotube – identify and kills pathogens.  Nano manipulation of seeds.
  • 8. Food  Zinc oxide – antibacterial.  Nanosensors and dispensers.  Tio2 in food packaging.  Cover the surface – prevent entering of microbes – preservative.  Cocoa NanoClusters - (canola cooking oil )Canola Active Oil, Nanotea and Nanoceuticals Slim Shake Chocolate.  Pesticides encapsulated nanoparticles- pesticide within insect's stomach.
  • 9. Construction  Structural stability.  Carbon nanoparticles – crack prevention.  TiO2 – rapid hydration and self cleaning.  Aeroplane – less weight and mechanical stability.  Paints – corrosion resistant and prevents fading.
  • 10. Daily life  Lab on chip.  nano newspapers.  Easy to clean pots – nanoclays.  Nano-whiskers pants – water and stain resistant.  Carbon nanotube – tennis balls –increase force and accuracy.  Silver nanoparticles – detergents, perfumes and water purifiers.
  • 11. Conclusion  Rapidly growing promising field.  Both advantages and disadvantages.  Nanotech would be an undeniable force in the future.  Biodegradable.  Takes time.
