Film distributors’ association
1.
2. INTRODUCTION
Film Distributors' Association Ltd. (FDA) is the trade body for theatrical film
distributors in the UK - the companies that release films for UK cinema
audiences.
Originally established in London in 1915, FDA liaises and works with many
individuals, companies and organisations. FDA's Council, or
board, comprising a senior representative of each member
company, normally meets six times a year and considers only matters
of generic interest to film distributors.
They represent a distribution stance in regular representations to and
consultations with the UK Film Council, the government and other trade
organisations in the film industry. They are also a passionate advocate
of distributors' pivotal role in the well-being of the whole film economy.
3. DIGITAL FILM/CINEMATOGRAPHY
Digital cinematography is the process of capturing motion pictures as
digital video images, as opposed to the historical use of motion picture
film. Digital capture may occur on video tape, hard disks, flash
memory, or other media which can record digital data through the use
of a digital movie video camera or other digital video camera. As digital
technology has improved, this practice has become increasingly
common. Many mainstream Hollywood movies now are shot partly or
fully digitally.
Many vendors have brought products to market, including traditional film
camera vendors like Arri and Panavision, as well as new vendors like
RED, Silicon Imaging, Vision Research and companies which have
traditionally focused on consumer and broadcast video equipment, like
Sony and Panasonic.
