The Biblical Passage Of Jesus
Throughout the Gospel we are exposed to the notions of materialism and wealth and we can see how it
is easy for this emphasis on such temptations to colour and erode the spiritual priority that should
characterize the church (AG, 2014). In the biblical passage, Jesus reminds the rich young man that
obedience to the Ten Commandments is necessary in order to inherit eternal life . The Commandments
are essential points of reference if we are to live in love, to distinguish clearly between good and evil,
and to build a life plan that is solid and enduring. Jesus is asking us too, whether we know the
Commandments, whether we are trying to form our conscience according to God s law, and putting
the Commandments into practice (Benedict XVI, 2010). The rich young man was seeking to enter the
eternal kingdom of heaven, and although he had kept the Commandments, what was keeping the rich
young man from spiritual perfection was his love of money. As the apostle Paul wrote, For the love of
money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and
pierced themselves with many grief s (1 Timothy 6:10). Jesus, who lived his life in humility and
obscurity, never accumulating wealth or possessions (AG, 2014), asked the young man, Go, sell your
possessions and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven . Whatever is standing in
our way, keeping us from perfection and maturity is an obstacle that can keep us out of the kingdom of

Becoming The Boss And A Survival Guide For Leaders
Kathleen Wykoff

Leadership Review Paper When I read the two articles Becoming the Boss and A Survival Guide for
Leaders , I noticed various differences between the two. While both articles consist of tips and advice
for leaders, they go about that in two diverse ways. From the one article read, leadership is made out
to be an abundance of responsibility, while the other article starts by describing leadership as
dangerous and risky. Although responsibility and danger come with both good and bad in this case, I
felt very differently about the separate articles. However, in both readings there were things I liked
and disliked, and many things I would remember for future reference. In Linda Hill s article Becoming
the Boss She begins by writing about the common misconceptions of management. She does this to
help future leaders skip the first few days of despair that so many new bosses experience. Hill goes
about being a successful boss with the method of changing the myths and misconceptions into realities
of the job. A few ideas that are suggested in this article are to make connections outside of your
business that can benefit your workers, show good character, influence and treat your employees with
respect (listen to them), understand that control doesn t mean commitment, and let others help you.
The last two I listed seemed to be very stressed in her article. When Hill writes that control doesn t
equal commitment , she is referring to

The Yasukuni Shrine and the Rise of Japan
The Yasukuni Shrine and the Rise of Japan s New Nationalism The Yasukuni Shrine is a Shinto shrine
established in 1869 in Tokyo. It was constructed in order to honor and worship the soldiers who have
died for their country in the Boshin Civil War that brought about the Meiji restoration and sacrificed
their lives in the service of their emperor to build a firm foundation for Japan to become a truly
peaceful country. For some Asian countries such as China and South Korea, which had been victims
under Japanese imperialism and aggression in the first half of the 20th century, the shrine was built to
commemorate Japanese war criminals in the World War II, and it has become a blatant symbol for
Japanese wartime militarism from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the leftist and liberals, the Rape of Nanking is a key symbol of cruel Japanese militarism. They
used the sympathy for civilian casualties to substantiate Article 9 of the constitution, which is essential
to avoid another Nanking Massacre and to prevent Japan from waging wars in the future, and they
viewed that the presence of Yasukuni proves the resurgence of Japanese militarism and the continual
existence of feudalism in modern Japanese society. However, the rightist conservative camp in Japan
is rising to prominence on a wave of patriotic assertiveness, and their influence is evident in the
rewriting of Japanese textbooks to deny imperial Japan s conquest in China. Therefore, in addition to
its militaristic history and ideology chasm between political camps, the symbolism of Yasukuni adds
external political pressure on Japanese government to re examine the articulation of its wartime past.
Not only does the Yasukuni controversy generated disapproval from Japan s Asian neighbors, it also
created domestic debate between the leftist and rightist political groups in Japan. In contrast to the
Japanese leftist, the Chinese, and the Korean, the prime minister s shrine visits are supported by right
wing nationalists, who form a significant core component of the support base of the Liberal
Democratic Party and dominates

CPG Boot Camp Observation Report
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the 2017 CPG Boot Camp that will cover From Economic
Challenges to Transformation Opportunities. I believe the title is appropriate as challenges must be
thought of as opportunities. Currently I serve as rector at a nearly 150 year old multi generational
parish with an ASA of 52 in a rural town of approximately 5000 people. Similar to other small rural
towns in the south there are multiple churches in the area.
While there are multiple opportunities for worship, none of the churches are at seating capacity for
their services each week. This observation creates a belief that I would be able to reach without
difficulty new members for St. Luke s, creating growth opportunities in the congregation. ... Show

We have begun implementing ministry teams in the congregation, therefore putting some of the tasks
onto the congregation. It has been my experience that the clergy have taken on the majority of these
tasks. The priest does provide leadership and direction, however the priest cannot be successful
without the support of the congregation.
My belief that the congregation can embrace and is ready for changes is verified in reading the parish
profile that was out together two years ago before I was called as rector. One of the top three items is
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to reach new people and incorporate them into the
life of the church. As a priest that is comfortable trying new strategies and directions, I find it
refreshing that the congregation will likely not be resistant to new ideas.
Where I cannot compare ministry to my past career s, there are similar aspects I have used over the
years that can assist in the development of new systems and strategies. Leveraging my understanding
of data collection and analysis will benefit this process, as I have a firm background in that

Age Of Jackson Essay
The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew
Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson s life story, a
lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he
became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and
the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson s life, the author moves
on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book.
By the time Jackson came to power, the nation had been drastically changed by the Industrial
Revolution. The simple, pastoral, agricultural lifestyle was being replaced ... Show more content on

Jackson, uneducated as he was, was a very shrewd man. Using the spoils system, he all but totally
replaced the cabinet from the previous administration. By rewarding the men who had helped him
reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The cabinet
was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people.
Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the National
Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true of people in
the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which involved mishaps in
land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that several small banks would be
a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major problem with a national bank would
lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This would be of no use to the middleclass.
Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power than he already had.
Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being to
rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign), and
acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including John
Calhoun, John Quincy Adams,

Clinical laboratory, what comes to your mind when you hear that word? Do you think of one
department such as Phlebotomy or many departments? After reading this paper you will have a better
understanding about the departments of the clinical laboratory and what exactly a clinical laboratory
is. There is more than just Phlebotomy when it comes to the clinical laboratory. I ll be explaining what
a clinical laboratory is and seven departments of the clinical laboratory. First, what is a clinical
laboratory? A clinical laboratory is a laboratory with several departments that perform test to help
provide better information to the patient to provide them with a diagnosis, a treatment or even to
prevent disease. So who oversee these labs? One of the monitoring agencies is American society of
clinical laboratory science. They assure reliable test results which contribute to the prevention,
diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions. In 1988 The Clinical
Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 was inputted. (CLIA 88) This act has divided the clinical
laboratory testing in to waved, moderately complex, and highly complex categories . Waved testing is
a simple and accurate test. Some examples would be pregnancy test, blood glucose test, and also the
urine dipstick test. Moderately complex testing is manual procedures with minimal steps and minimal
preparation. Highly complex testing is including all laboratory testing. There are many positions in

The Pros And Cons Of Forced Sterilization
Forced sterilization, also called eugenic sterilization, is a procedure commonly performed on women
as a way to permanently prevent that woman from having future children, and is still being practiced
today in many countries around the world, including the United States.
Sterilization abuse is a practice in which the woman is either unaware she is being sterilized, or she
has been coerced or deceived into getting the procedure done by either being told it is a temporary or
reversible procedure, or being told that by not consenting, there would be negative impacts to her
immigration, housing, government benefits, or parenting.1 This method, which has been documented
in the United States starting around 1907, was commonly used on poor, disadvantaged, unwed,
mentally disabled women, children, and even some men, including many people within a minority
group, as a way to control their fertilization and combat overpopulation.
This gave the government the ability to decide who was incapable of regulating their own
reproduction abilities which is what was used to justify the use of forced sterilization in these groups
of people. It wasn t until the 1970 s that federal legislation passed a sterilization policy to prevent
sterilization of women without their consent, but the caveat to this was those women who it applied to
were those who received government assistance for medical care.2 This was their way of making an
attempt to allow women to have control over their reproductive

Characteristics Of A Friend Who Falls Under All Of These...
We all have friendships with everyone. To some people, they have deep friendships while others just
use and abuse their friends. We shouldn t abuse our friends, we should care for our friends. They re all
important! Friends can provide support, comfort, and help and even have fun with each other. When I
look for friends, I make sure that they possess many qualities. Some traits I look for in a friend is that
they re kind, honest, trustworthy and accepting of my unique ideas. I have many people that fall under
this category, but for this essay, I have decided to write about one who stands out. Her name is Aria.
Aria is a friend who falls under all of these qualities. She s kind, trustworthy and provides support and
comfort. Aria and I have a deep friendship.
Aria is a kind person. She cares for each and every one of her friends. An example is when she
provides food for me and others. I remember in kindergarten when she brought me a slice of pizza for
lunch. More specifically, a tomato basil slice of pizza. Anyways, I remember feeling strange and weird
as this had never happened to me. Before this, I had never gotten food, or any item, from anyone. It
was a new experience. Another example is that Aria puts her peers before herself. A couple weeks ago,
we were playing Volleyball. Aria would set up her peers for spikes, a move that is hard to accomplish
in this sport. Usually, people only care about themselves, and only ask people to set them up. Aria

Relativism Vs Realism

Relativism or Realism What is Plato s reasoning for rejecting moral relativism in favor of moral
realism? Moral Relativism is defined as the view that moral judgements are true and false only
relative to some particular standpoint and no standpoint is uniquely privileged over all others. An
interpretation of moral relativism is that it is an understanding that the ethical position of right or
wrong is culturally centered and as a result subjected to a person s individual opinion. Plato however
spends a great deal of time arguing against moral relativism and in favor of moral realism. The
argument Plato proposes is that moral relativism is irrational because ... Show more content on

According to moral relativism, there are no guidelines as to what is considered right or wrong,
therefore we are unable to judge one s beliefs. The two types of relativism are individual and cultural.
Individual relativism is the view that each person creates their own standards, while cultural relativism
is that the societies create moral standard which are authoritative over the people. The founder of
relativism, Protagoras, said man is the measure of all things of all things that are, and of things that
they are not. This ideally means that each person sets their own standards of truth by their own
judgements. Moral relativism is practically the idea that a given thing is based upon the perception
from which it is viewed. Plato argues against moral relativism by supporting a form of moral realism.
Moral realism is the metaphysical view that such things as moral facts and values are objective and
independent of our perception of them. The first argument Plato makes is that moral relativism is
logically unsound because it has no logical reasoning because if all standards are subjective and
dependent on perception, then anyone could adopt their own perspective of moral realism. The
primary distinction between moral realism and moral relativism, is that a moral realist believes there
are objective moral facts. A moral relativist on the other hand

Approaching Nathaniel Hawthorne Insight
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote one of the most studied short story in literature, Young Goodman Brown .
This short story is widely use because of the deep meaning and strong internal attachment it has with
the reader. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem, Massachusetts his family had been early settlers,
one of his great grandfather was a judge during the Salem witch trials and had twenty five women
killed. Hearing his great grandfather talk about this subject made Hawthorne both obsessed and a little
ashamed for what his family has done during the Salem witch trials. Hawthorne put those feelings into
his stories which in reality explore what the events that happened in the puritans life style. As stated

settlers to Salem since colonial times. Hawthorne s father died when he was four, (Approaching

relatives recognized Hawthorne s literature talent and financed his education at Bowdoin College. At

Pierce, who would later on be the President of the United States. After graduating, Hawthorne lived at

Subchapter J of the Internal Revenue Code provides guidance for the treatment of Estates, Trusts and

of which being the negatives stigmas that unfairly generalize their people, culture and way of life.
Therese stereotypes of a whole nationality label Blacks as, superstitious, lazy, ignorant, dirty,

perception, which has been diluted by rooted historic and current prejudice as well as the media s

Americans were unfairly excluded from the opportunity to be individuals or express themselves

African American culture. This was more than a literary movement it was a period of racial

By looking back on the accomplishments of the time there is proof that this occurred, the Harlem

The Between Baboons And The Sun
There are many points of view concerning the classifications of hypocephali. According to Uranic,
hypocephali are classified into two types such as Theban type in which the hypocephalus contains
three horizontal registers with very few inscriptions beside the scenes and DbA ty type referring to the
title of god Osiriswith which the text begins. On the other hand, Gee classified them into six styles. In
fact, there are many other types of hypocephali which are the same except for very few differences.
This research contains forty one hypocephali exhibited in different museums all over the world. The
aim of the study is to focus on the baboons scenes specially their forms, positions, locations, their total
number and their number flanking the seated four headed god.
In the Old Kingdom the sacredbaboon or ape was associated with the patron of writing and wisdom

Parenting Producing Helicopter Parents And Tiger Moms

Look out above.
Regardless of who you are or where you come from there s one instrumental factor we all share. We
all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many
things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that
the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life.
However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and
tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child s life to either keep them
safe or make them the best when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good parent,
but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than helping
their child towards a successful future.
In the past 25 years alone parenting has been making a major shift according to marriage therapist
John Becker the general goals of parenting haven t see too much variance over the years but the focus
and outcomes have (Morman). Even looking back on my own childhood and that of some of the kids I
work with, sometimes an age gap as small as four years between us, the effects of different parenting
methods is evident. We always ate dinner together at roughly the same time and everyone ate the same
thing, dinner served as a time to catch up on the days events as a family; A sentiment of

Essay on The Great Gig in the Sky
At a late Thursday night, I have received word that I would perform in a fancy ball room. With only
two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage plays
tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I decided for it
to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice day in and day
out. There was something for me to prove. You don t have to be naturally talented and experienced to
become successful or to perform at a high level. All it takes is a little self confidence and hard work. Is
two weeks enough for a musician to pick up an instrument and perform? A sunny day in Houston,
Texas. Just this morning I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My heart quickly accelerated and continued to run for its life. I looked at my hands which were
beginning to moisture. The thought of performing with little experience struck me down. I was a
nervous wreck and I knew that within the next five minutes. I will give it my all or die trying. I
patiently waited to be called. A loud thumping noise is heard as I head over to the door and open the
door. It was my father. There is no need to feel nervous. You worked so hard and pushed yourself to
prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also for the
enjoyment of performing. My dad had turned his back on me and faded away. I stood still thinking
about what he has told me. There was a better reason to why I stood up so late and practiced so much.
From the beginning, playing an instrument was a wonderful experience. With a confident look and a
brighter self esteem. I was ready to rock n roll! I treasured the moment. I put on my shades and
walked across the hall with a determined look. I made my way backstage and was suddenly called to
the stage. The spotlight was brighter than the suns ray. I foolishly put my shades back on and take a
look around me. Complete silence was around me. Such a quiet, yet eerie atmosphere. Eyes across the
stage followed me like a homing missile. I strum a chord and begin playing. A rough start was quickly
changed whenever the music began progressing. After all, all that practice made me

Analysis Of Tabula Rasa By Robert Southey
What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice, that s what little girls, are made of.
What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy dog tails. That s what little boys are made
of . Author: English Poet Robert Southey (1774 1843).
Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a
blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible
impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the
associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because
they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so
malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the
first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget,
who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an
understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive
understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981).
Walking into any new born infant s room you could almost certainly guess the gender of the baby just
from the colour of his or her clothes, blankets, and toys. Any infant surrounded by pink items is
virtually certain to be a girl, whereas a child

The Importance Of African Traditional Medicine
Hook. As stated by Helaine Selin, African traditional medicine represents the sum of the people s
medicinal knowledge as well as beliefs, skills, and practices used in diagnosing, preventing, or
eliminating a physical, mental, or social disequilibrium (Selin 679). Elaborate. Despite British
colonization of Nigeria during the 19th and 20th century, the Igbo tribe of Nigeria used various
methods of traditional medicine as a prominent practice of medicine throughout history.
The Igbo, like many other cultures around the world, have a set tradition to medicine. In fact, For
thousands of years a majority of the world s population had used and continues to use the traditional
method of healing and medicine. Similarly, the African people have used methods of healing suited to
Africa (Osuji 95). This suggests that the Igbo tribe is among the many African tribes to use traditional
medicine, as opposed to modern medicine, and they have used it for millennia. In addition, they
incorporate multiple aspects of religion into medicine, for their spiritual beliefs act as the core to
which their lives revolve. For instance, they refer to spirits as the source of power for common
treatments, for spirit forces energize medicine that individuals can conjure and deploy for strength,
protection, or to harm enemies (Arinze 4365). In addition, traditional doctors themselves play a major
role in connecting patients to the spiritual worlds. As stated by Ali Arazeem Abdullahi, Traditional

Nature In Dialectic Of Enlightenment
In Dialectic of Enlightenment, through their discussion of nature s initial domination over man in
primitive society, by virtue of mankind s fear of the unknown and mana, and man s eventual
domination over nature through rationality and disillusionment, Frankfurt School philosophers
Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer conclude that there exists a paradox in which myths already
contain enlightenment just as enlightenment also already contains myths (11 12). Various examples,
such as the creation of myths, which contained enlightenment and rationality, the prohibition
surrounding the utterance of God s name, which still retained elements of mythology in an enlightened
world, and the blind reproduction of thought, which relapsed an enlightened world back into
mythology, support their argument.
Mana, the moving spirit, which was neither a subject nor an object, represented the intricacy and
complexity of nature compared to the primitive man. In the course of human history, even in its
earliest forms, human society has always reified observations in nature and inscribed them with
distinct meanings and stories. This pre animism emerged as a response to the cruel volatility of nature,
where man feared the unknown, and began the first lines of separation of subject and object (Adorno
and Horkheimer, 15). The gasp of surprise or cry of terror which accompanied the experience of the
unusual and unfamiliar became synonymous to its name, contradictorily creating both a subjective

taking a model that is used for development and understanding of the current system needs all the

system security threats can be harmful to any company. Unfortunately there is really no real full proof
way to stop threats that jeopardize the network and computers all over. Proper framework and
foundation is the key when choosing and incorporating countermeasures, all of this is very important.
A policy must be written to make sure that everyone in the company / organization has a clear
understanding and acts accordingly when it comes to the sensitive data and make sure the software is
kept safe securely. Upon developing the security policy, it should be broken down and all the items on
it should be clear enough for everyone to understand, that way there is no confusion.
Any data system with a security policy will most likely have an array of countermeasures that have a
range of threats. An organizations guideline, policies and coaching material that is virtually
nonexistent and not really pressed upon

Increase Employee Productivity With Technology
Increase Employee Productivity with Technology Staying ahead of the competition and increasing
profits are the fundamental objectives for every organization. However, many firms today continue to
invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This mindset
ignores the firm s chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity
can make or break a firm, and a firm staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail
regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize the
importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook
investing in the right tools that result in increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker,
but what they don t have are the technology based tools employees use daily to perform the functions
of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently
use technology and identify if they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our
experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated systems or the fear of
change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with
upgrading and learning a new system. The problem with this is that technology is rapidly evolving and
what works today is not necessarily going to work tomorrow. Let s face it, decreased employee

There Is An Additional Bonus Besides The Saving Of Money
There is an additional bonus besides the saving of money in the home vegetable garden cultivation.
That is the tenderness and superb flavor of vegetables we harvest and prepare for table use when they
are at their very best. Even if the cost were the same, we would happily work our own gardens
because we know that those vegetables harvested in commercial fields, shipped to market and then
used in the kitchen after a week (or more) has passed, simply cannot be compared in flavor and quality
to those we harvest in our own gardens and eat the same day! For a continuous supply, the planting of
beans at about two week intervals will keep the table constantly supplied. One packet of Pole Beans
will provide enough plants for the Small home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If you are a nature lover and enjoy watching a flurry of hummingbirds or a wave of beautiful
butterflies fluttering around your yard, a natural choice of landscaping would be butterfly bushes.
These beautiful, amazingly delicate bushes will attract nature s tiniest creatures and give you a front
row seat for their dancing performances. Butterfly bushes come in a variety of colors that will
highlight or accent any garden design. Hues of gold, blue, purple or pink flowers grow rapidly on
these hearty green shrubs. Even the most inexperienced gardener will delight in the production of
amazing flower s with just nominal care. Butterfly bushes grow rapidly, so one must be careful in
selecting the right place to display them. For use in a small flower garden, the butterfly bush should
take center attention. It s regal flowers will be a proud display, and a definite eye catcher. Plant the
butterfly bush center stage, then add smaller annuals around it. The annuals should be a
complimentary color to the butterfly bush. If your butterfly bush produces dark rich purple flowers,
consider adding lighter purple, or even pink, petunia waves in a circle around it. If you want a bolder
statement, plant several butterfly bushes of various colors down the side of your flower garden or
fence. These plants will grow and come together as a

Immigration Issues in the News
H. R. 2604 (2012): Help Separated Families Act of 2013 is a Federal bill introduced by Representative
Lucille Roybal Allard, a Democrat in California s 40th District. After the introduction of this Federal
bill it was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means: 113th Congress, 2013 2015. The bill, (H. R.
2604) was introduced to the Senate floor as of Jun 28, 2013 (GovTrack.us, 2013). This bill would
ensure that immigration status alone does not disqualify a relative from being a placement for a child
whose parent (s) has been deported.
Understanding the Problem Immigration issues have been in the news; and have been debated by
politicians. Political parties over the years have been vocal in voicing their concerns about American
immigration (Russit, 2013). The problem is if you are an undocumented immigrant and you are
stopped by an arresting agency you will be detained and deported according to the current
immigration policy (Russit, 2013). Russit (2013) explains the judicial branch of our Supreme Court
has ruled over this issue for over four decades. They have determined the federal government has the
exclusive power of regulating immigration. These powers are based on the Commerce Clause,
Naturalization Clause, Migration and Importation Clause and the War Power Clause of Article I of the
US Constitution. The courts have ruled that any state or local law that attempts to regulate
immigration is in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution and is

Reuven Malter plays one of the protagonists in The Chosen, by Chaim Potok. Reuven, who is around
the age of fifteen and plays baseball for his all boys school. He displays his true leadership skills on
and off the field with his teammates. In this story, Reuven experiences an eye injury caused by Danny
Saunders during one of the games. Although the injury gives Reuven and his father much anxiety
about the future, it also positions Reuven and Danny onto a long path of friendship. Reuven s
disposition and actions reveal that he is a confident, talented, and intelligent boy. You can tell a lot
about a person by observing how they react to threating situations. Right before Reuven s team plays
their game against the yeshiva, Davey tells him that they are murderers . Reuven laughs it off and
says, It ll be a good game. (Page 13) This example signifies Reuven s confidence in himself and his
team. This confidence also demonstrates Reuven s immense leadership skills. As a leader to his team,
he maintains a positive outlook on their playing abilities as to give them some sort of assurance of the
possible win ahead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the game, Reuven catches a very fast moving ball, he jumps as high as he possibly can and
holds his glove far above his head. The impact on his hand causes it to instantly go numb. Both teams

pitcher. (Page 68) Reuven s talents and abilities advance the team dramatically. While Reuven is in a
fielding and pitching position, the team is consistently advancing in points. After his injury, the

  • 2. The Biblical Passage Of Jesus Throughout the Gospel we are exposed to the notions of materialism and wealth and we can see how it is easy for this emphasis on such temptations to colour and erode the spiritual priority that should characterize the church (AG, 2014). In the biblical passage, Jesus reminds the rich young man that obedience to the Ten Commandments is necessary in order to inherit eternal life . The Commandments are essential points of reference if we are to live in love, to distinguish clearly between good and evil, and to build a life plan that is solid and enduring. Jesus is asking us too, whether we know the Commandments, whether we are trying to form our conscience according to God s law, and putting the Commandments into practice (Benedict XVI, 2010). The rich young man was seeking to enter the eternal kingdom of heaven, and although he had kept the Commandments, what was keeping the rich young man from spiritual perfection was his love of money. As the apostle Paul wrote, For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief s (1 Timothy 6:10). Jesus, who lived his life in humility and obscurity, never accumulating wealth or possessions (AG, 2014), asked the young man, Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven . Whatever is standing in our way, keeping us from perfection and maturity is an obstacle that can keep us out of the kingdom of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Becoming The Boss And A Survival Guide For Leaders Kathleen Wykoff March 1 2015 HSMP 3200 995 Leadership Review Paper When I read the two articles Becoming the Boss and A Survival Guide for Leaders , I noticed various differences between the two. While both articles consist of tips and advice for leaders, they go about that in two diverse ways. From the one article read, leadership is made out to be an abundance of responsibility, while the other article starts by describing leadership as dangerous and risky. Although responsibility and danger come with both good and bad in this case, I felt very differently about the separate articles. However, in both readings there were things I liked and disliked, and many things I would remember for future reference. In Linda Hill s article Becoming the Boss She begins by writing about the common misconceptions of management. She does this to help future leaders skip the first few days of despair that so many new bosses experience. Hill goes about being a successful boss with the method of changing the myths and misconceptions into realities of the job. A few ideas that are suggested in this article are to make connections outside of your business that can benefit your workers, show good character, influence and treat your employees with respect (listen to them), understand that control doesn t mean commitment, and let others help you. The last two I listed seemed to be very stressed in her article. When Hill writes that control doesn t equal commitment , she is referring to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was constructed in order to honor and worship the soldiers who have died for their country in the Boshin Civil War that brought about the Meiji restoration and sacrificed their lives in the service of their emperor to build a firm foundation for Japan to become a truly peaceful country. For some Asian countries such as China and South Korea, which had been victims under Japanese imperialism and aggression in the first half of the 20th century, the shrine was built to commemorate Japanese war criminals in the World War II, and it has become a blatant symbol for Japanese wartime militarism from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the leftist and liberals, the Rape of Nanking is a key symbol of cruel Japanese militarism. They used the sympathy for civilian casualties to substantiate Article 9 of the constitution, which is essential to avoid another Nanking Massacre and to prevent Japan from waging wars in the future, and they viewed that the presence of Yasukuni proves the resurgence of Japanese militarism and the continual existence of feudalism in modern Japanese society. However, the rightist conservative camp in Japan is rising to prominence on a wave of patriotic assertiveness, and their influence is evident in the rewriting of Japanese textbooks to deny imperial Japan s conquest in China. Therefore, in addition to its militaristic history and ideology chasm between political camps, the symbolism of Yasukuni adds external political pressure on Japanese government to re examine the articulation of its wartime past. Not only does the Yasukuni controversy generated disapproval from Japan s Asian neighbors, it also created domestic debate between the leftist and rightist political groups in Japan. In contrast to the Japanese leftist, the Chinese, and the Korean, the prime minister s shrine visits are supported by right wing nationalists, who form a significant core component of the support base of the Liberal Democratic Party and dominates ... I believe the title is appropriate as challenges must be thought of as opportunities. Currently I serve as rector at a nearly 150 year old multi generational parish with an ASA of 52 in a rural town of approximately 5000 people. Similar to other small rural towns in the south there are multiple churches in the area. While there are multiple opportunities for worship, none of the churches are at seating capacity for their services each week. This observation creates a belief that I would be able to reach without difficulty new members for St. Luke s, creating growth opportunities in the congregation. ... One of the top three items is Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to reach new people and incorporate them into the life of the church. As a priest that is comfortable trying new strategies and directions, I find it refreshing that the congregation will likely not be resistant to new ideas. • 8. Age Of Jackson Essay The Age of Jackson, written by Arthur M. Schlesinger, focuses on the long lasting effects of Andrew Jackson on democracy and American politics. The novel starts off with Jackson s life story, a lowerclass boy from the west, raised by a single mother. After finding financial success on his own, he became well known for his military exploits, being a crucial factor in the Battle of New Orleans, and the acquisition of Florida from the Spanish. After the brief account of Jackson s life, the author moves on to his administration, and stays with that topic for most of the book. By the time Jackson came to power, the nation had been drastically changed by the Industrial Revolution. The simple, pastoral, agricultural lifestyle was being replaced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jackson, uneducated as he was, was a very shrewd man. Using the spoils system, he all but totally replaced the cabinet from the previous administration. By rewarding the men who had helped him reach his current state, he made it clear that the middleclass could improve their condition. The cabinet was no longer filled with wealthy men of status, but instead of more every day people. Nicholas Biddle proved great opposition to President Jackson. He wanted to re charter the National Bank; however, many people were against Biddle s decision. This was particularly true of people in the west. They were still wary of a national bank, after the Panic of 1819, which involved mishaps in land speculation. Jackson shared the predominately western opinion that several small banks would be a better service to the nation than one, large bank would. A major problem with a national bank would lie in it s willingness only to make loans to the wealthy. This would be of no use to the middleclass. Jackson would not allow Biddle to gain any more power than he already had. Jackson did not have the characteristics of a great president. First of all, he was notorious for being to rash and impetuous. As a military leader, he often disobeyed direct orders (Florida campaign), and acted on instinct rather than reason. He also had many enemies among colleagues, including John Calhoun, John Quincy Adams, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After reading this paper you will have a better understanding about the departments of the clinical laboratory and what exactly a clinical laboratory is. There is more than just Phlebotomy when it comes to the clinical laboratory. I ll be explaining what a clinical laboratory is and seven departments of the clinical laboratory. First, what is a clinical laboratory? A clinical laboratory is a laboratory with several departments that perform test to help provide better information to the patient to provide them with a diagnosis, a treatment or even to prevent disease. So who oversee these labs? One of the monitoring agencies is American society of clinical laboratory science. They assure reliable test results which contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions. In 1988 The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 was inputted. (CLIA 88) This act has divided the clinical laboratory testing in to waved, moderately complex, and highly complex categories . • 10. The Pros And Cons Of Forced Sterilization Forced sterilization, also called eugenic sterilization, is a procedure commonly performed on women as a way to permanently prevent that woman from having future children, and is still being practiced today in many countries around the world, including the United States. Sterilization abuse is a practice in which the woman is either unaware she is being sterilized, or she has been coerced or deceived into getting the procedure done by either being told it is a temporary or reversible procedure, or being told that by not consenting, there would be negative impacts to her immigration, housing, government benefits, or parenting.1 This method, which has been documented in the United States starting around 1907, was commonly used on poor, disadvantaged, unwed, mentally disabled women, children, and even some men, including many people within a minority group, as a way to control their fertilization and combat overpopulation. This gave the government the ability to decide who was incapable of regulating their own reproduction abilities which is what was used to justify the use of forced sterilization in these groups of people. It wasn t until the 1970 s that federal legislation passed a sterilization policy to prevent sterilization of women without their consent, but the caveat to this was those women who it applied to were those who received government assistance for medical care.2 This was their way of making an attempt to allow women to have control over their reproductive ... We shouldn t abuse our friends, we should care for our friends. They re all important! Friends can provide support, comfort, and help and even have fun with each other. When I look for friends, I make sure that they possess many qualities. Some traits I look for in a friend is that they re kind, honest, trustworthy and accepting of my unique ideas. I have many people that fall under this category, but for this essay, I have decided to write about one who stands out. Her name is Aria. Aria is a friend who falls under all of these qualities. She s kind, trustworthy and provides support and comfort. Aria and I have a deep friendship. Aria is a kind person. She cares for each and every one of her friends. An example is when she provides food for me and others. I remember in kindergarten when she brought me a slice of pizza for lunch. More specifically, a tomato basil slice of pizza. Anyways, I remember feeling strange and weird as this had never happened to me. Before this, I had never gotten food, or any item, from anyone. It was a new experience. Another example is that Aria puts her peers before herself. A couple weeks ago, we were playing Volleyball. Aria would set up her peers for spikes, a move that is hard to accomplish in this sport. Usually, people only care about themselves, and only ask people to set them up. Aria could easily become one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Relativism Vs Realism Joseph Cipullo Professor Butera Philosophy 103 October 28, 2017 Relativism or Realism What is Plato s reasoning for rejecting moral relativism in favor of moral realism? Moral Relativism is defined as the view that moral judgements are true and false only relative to some particular standpoint and no standpoint is uniquely privileged over all others. An interpretation of moral relativism is that it is an understanding that the ethical position of right or wrong is culturally centered and as a result subjected to a person s individual opinion. Plato however spends a great deal of time arguing against moral relativism and in favor of moral realism. The argument Plato proposes is that moral relativism is irrational because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to moral relativism, there are no guidelines as to what is considered right or wrong, therefore we are unable to judge one s beliefs. The two types of relativism are individual and cultural. Individual relativism is the view that each person creates their own standards, while cultural relativism is that the societies create moral standard which are authoritative over the people. The founder of relativism, Protagoras, said man is the measure of all things of all things that are, and of things that they are not. This ideally means that each person sets their own standards of truth by their own judgements. Moral relativism is practically the idea that a given thing is based upon the perception from which it is viewed. Plato argues against moral relativism by supporting a form of moral realism. Moral realism is the metaphysical view that such things as moral facts and values are objective and independent of our perception of them. The first argument Plato makes is that moral relativism is logically unsound because it has no logical reasoning because if all standards are subjective and dependent on perception, then anyone could adopt their own perspective of moral realism. The primary distinction between moral realism and moral relativism, is that a moral realist believes there are objective moral facts. A moral relativist on the other hand ... • 13. Approaching Nathaniel Hawthorne Insight Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote one of the most studied short story in literature, Young Goodman Brown . This short story is widely use because of the deep meaning and strong internal attachment it has with the reader. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem, Massachusetts his family had been early settlers, one of his great grandfather was a judge during the Salem witch trials and had twenty five women killed. Hearing his great grandfather talk about this subject made Hawthorne both obsessed and a little ashamed for what his family has done during the Salem witch trials. Hawthorne put those feelings into his stories which in reality explore what the events that happened in the puritans life style. In the 20s, Harlem created an area where they are free to do so. According to Reuben s account, which also carries it with a sense of pride, the Harlem Renaissance was a profound period in African American culture. This was more than a literary movement it was a period of racial consciousness, as Marcus Garvey, a dynamic African leader, boldly dubbed the back to Africa movement. Being a prolific leader of the time, Garvey uses his influence to encourage cultural change. By looking back on the accomplishments of the time there is proof that this occurred, the Harlem Renaissance brought the Black experience clearly within the General American cultural history, (Reuben). Regardless of who you are or where you come from there s one instrumental factor we all share. We all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life. However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child s life to either keep them safe or make them the best when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good parent, but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than helping their child towards a successful future. In the past 25 years alone parenting has been making a major shift according to marriage therapist John Becker the general goals of parenting haven t see too much variance over the years but the focus and outcomes have (Morman). Even looking back on my own childhood and that of some of the kids I work with, sometimes an age gap as small as four years between us, the effects of different parenting methods is evident. With only two weeks of experience I had a gig in front of a hundred people. Like many first gigs, the stage plays tricks on you and makes you feel inferior. Stage fright had to go away at some point, so I decided for it to be this Saturday night. Countless of hours put into this one night, I would practice day in and day out. There was something for me to prove. You don t have to be naturally talented and experienced to become successful or to perform at a high level. You worked so hard and pushed yourself to prove a point. Although that may be true, you worked so hard not only for success but also for the enjoyment of performing. • 24. Analysis Of Tabula Rasa By Robert Southey What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice, that s what little girls, are made of. What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy dog tails. That s what little boys are made of . Author: English Poet Robert Southey (1774 1843). Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget, who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981). Walking into any new born infant s room you could almost certainly guess the gender of the baby just from the colour of his or her clothes, blankets, and toys. Any infant surrounded by pink items is virtually certain to be a girl, whereas a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Importance Of African Traditional Medicine Hook. As stated by Helaine Selin, African traditional medicine represents the sum of the people s medicinal knowledge as well as beliefs, skills, and practices used in diagnosing, preventing, or eliminating a physical, mental, or social disequilibrium (Selin 679). Elaborate. Despite British colonization of Nigeria during the 19th and 20th century, the Igbo tribe of Nigeria used various methods of traditional medicine as a prominent practice of medicine throughout history. The Igbo, like many other cultures around the world, have a set tradition to medicine. In fact, For thousands of years a majority of the world s population had used and continues to use the traditional method of healing and medicine. Similarly, the African people have used methods of healing suited to Africa (Osuji 95). This suggests that the Igbo tribe is among the many African tribes to use traditional medicine, as opposed to modern medicine, and they have used it for millennia. In addition, they incorporate multiple aspects of religion into medicine, for their spiritual beliefs act as the core to which their lives revolve. For instance, they refer to spirits as the source of power for common treatments, for spirit forces energize medicine that individuals can conjure and deploy for strength, protection, or to harm enemies (Arinze 4365). In addition, traditional doctors themselves play a major role in connecting patients to the spiritual worlds. As stated by Ali Arazeem Abdullahi, Traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Nature In Dialectic Of Enlightenment In Dialectic of Enlightenment, through their discussion of nature s initial domination over man in primitive society, by virtue of mankind s fear of the unknown and mana, and man s eventual domination over nature through rationality and disillusionment, Frankfurt School philosophers Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer conclude that there exists a paradox in which myths already contain enlightenment just as enlightenment also already contains myths (11 12). Various examples, such as the creation of myths, which contained enlightenment and rationality, the prohibition surrounding the utterance of God s name, which still retained elements of mythology in an enlightened world, and the blind reproduction of thought, which relapsed an enlightened world back into mythology, support their argument. Mana, the moving spirit, which was neither a subject nor an object, represented the intricacy and complexity of nature compared to the primitive man. In the course of human history, even in its earliest forms, human society has always reified observations in nature and inscribed them with distinct meanings and stories. This pre animism emerged as a response to the cruel volatility of nature, where man feared the unknown, and began the first lines of separation of subject and object (Adorno and Horkheimer, 15). The gasp of surprise or cry of terror which accompanied the experience of the unusual and unfamiliar became synonymous to its name, contradictorily creating both a subjective ...
