Update on Romanian Missions -
Value of Patience and Peace
If you remember from my last update,
obtaining a Romanian Long-Stay visa has hit a
road-block. Since my last update, however, a path
going forward has become much clearer. I have
decided to pursue one of two Long-Stay visas: the
Student Visa (primary) and the Volunteer Visa
(secondary). The elders of the Swartz Creek and
Deerfoot churches of Christ have approved of me
taking a trip to Romania for 60 days (March 14th
to May 17th) to get work done on the visa and to
update paperwork for the Church in Arad. The
Church in Arad has not updated their paperwork in
Romania since 2008 - this is a big problem! So in
addition to pursuing my visa, I am having to help
the congregation through their legal woes.
Patience. Do we ever think about it? Do we
ever think about the trials and struggles that can
produce patience? I have certainly been thinking
about this more as I navigate the visa process. What
about peace? Do we ever think about the strife and
battles one must go through in order to appreciate
it? My dad gave me a coin when I was young, and
on it was the serenity (peace) prayer.
“God, grant me the serenity (peace) to accept
the things I cannot change, the courage to change
the things I can, and the wisdom to know the
difference.”
I am not a proponent of reciting prayers, but
I sure do love patience and peace. These things are
hard to come by, but if we have the Spirit, these
traits will become evident within us (Galatians
5:22). Patience does not come easy, you may have
to endure tough trials to grow it (James 1:2-4). And
peace does not come easy, the battles of your mind
may be mighty before you finally ask God in prayer
to give you peace (Philippians 4:6-7). I am learning
more that I need patience and peace, and it is my
prayer that I - as well as all the saints - will grow in
them.

newsletter! It will be published by the second week
