My Time
“How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever?
How long will your wrath burn like fire? Remember
how short my time is! For what vanity you have created
all the children of man!” (Psalm 89:46-47)
Notice the Psalmist Ethan the Ezrahite conveys,
“Remember how short my time is.” My time, not to be
confused with the popular saying “me time,” is found
often throughout scripture.
Jacob comes to his Father in-law Laban and says, “Give
me my wife that I may go in to her, for my time is
completed” (Genesis 29:21). Jacob indicates the time
agreed upon for laboring for his wives and his
livelihood has come to completion.
For me, this week “my time” has still been set to a New
Zealand clock, which is 17 hours ahead of our current
time zone. A rule of thumb when crossing the
international dateline and equator is that it can take
one day for every hour to fully re-adjust from lagging
behind Alabama time.
Every other time in scripture, the phrase “my time”
refers to the dash between birth and death. The time
allotted for all of us on this earth.
“And He made from one man every nation of mankind
to live on all the face of the earth, having determined
allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling
place” (Acts 17:26).
The other mentions of our phrase are made by Jesus.
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples
came to Jesus, saying, “Where will you have us prepare
for you to eat the Passover?” He said, “Go into the city
to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, my
time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house
with my disciples’” (Matthew 26:17–18).
Jesus said to them, “my time has not yet come, but your
time is always here. The world cannot hate you, but it
hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil.
You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast,
for my time has not yet fully come” (John 7:6-8).
The Psalmist Ethan the Ezrahite knew how short his
time was. But it was the final question he asked that can
only be answered by Jesus.
“What man can live and never see death? Who can
deliver his soul from the power of the grave?” (Psalm
89:48)
Today the world celebrates that moment where God
delivered a soul from the grave. The instance of Jesus’
resurrection, where he redeemed your and “my time.”

Bus Drivers Needed! Free Training Provided!
Our Sunday Bus Ministry is in need of additional
drivers. Each Sunday morning we provide transportation
to and from our services for the 9:30 Bible class and 10:30
worship for members/visitors living in the area who have
no other means of attending. The 15-passenger bus #3 is
used and does NOT require a CDL license to operate. The
only requirements for drivers are: a love for people, at least
25 birthdays, a valid driver’s license, and a good/safe
driving record. Male and females drivers are welcome. We
currently pick up 3-4 members each Sunday.
Current bus drivers include: James Morris, Michael
Martin, Mark Adkinson and Steve Maynard.
If you would like to participate in this worthy ministry for
Christ, or just want to know more about it, please contact
Steve Maynard or one of the other drivers. We welcome
and will train inexperienced volunteers before adding them
to the rotation.
Thank You
I wish to thank everyone for all of your prayers, cards
and love shown to me during my hospital stay and
recovery at home. I am so blessed to be a part of the
Lord’s family at Deerfoot.
Love you all,
Chuck Spitzley

know for which mission area you will be preparing food.
There will be recipes to choose from or you can prepare
one of your own choosing.
Please make your plans to attend and bring enough food
for your family and to share.
