They start losing their grip and begin trembling. You may be concerned about where this world, your family or the church is heading when faced with the present state of the world we live in. It may concern you in the news bulletins and headlines. It may leave your hands trembling and knees buckled in prayer for the future of the church and our children within it. There are a lot of concerns that we all share and if enumerated could not fit in this article. If every one of us shared our deepest worries or fears and added them all together we could fill a volume of books with the anguish, pain, doubt, and fear we now feel or once felt. Is it not the greatest blessing that God, in His infinite wisdom, decided to write His own book? The Bible is a book where men, like you and me, wrote as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). God through John gives us the purpose of His words delivered in one book that could be ap- plied to all of them. “Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31). God spoke His words into existence because He desired His breath (Gen 2:7) to remain in His children. John also was inspired to write, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). We will not perish if we believe in Him. This is true when we realize belief takes action. Belief demands obedience. If we obey God our cares and concerns can be placed in the His hands. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6,7). All people who have worries and cares in this life that plague their joy must re- alize that God wants those fears and worries from you. Put them in Jesus’ hands. The same hands that became nimble as they were held by a soldier’s might to a piece of wood. They lost their grip trembling as nails were slowly driven in. God purchased your fears, cares, and sin on that day and that night He was taken and laid in a tomb. Today we are reminded it could not hold Him. Tomb… it may concern.
