Harp Mission
The Elders have set aside our next quarter as a fo-
cus on missions. This is in preparation for Mission Sunday
on May 5th. We have missionaries scheduled to be with us
on every Wednesday during this mission’s quarter. Some
will be in-person: Graham McDonald from Cumbernauld
will be able to be State side, and it will be so wonderful to
get to see him in the flesh instead of zoom. We will have
others who will send us a zoom report or a video. Josh
Dykes will be in Romania, so it will be exciting to hear
from him while he is there. Technology is such an
encouragement as it helps our missionaries fulfill Acts
14:27. “And when they arrived and gathered the church
together, they declared all that God had done with them,
and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.”
Just before our mission quarter, I have a unique
opportunity for a mission campaign in my home country
of New Zealand. I will be leaving tomorrow, the 11th, and
returning the 22nd. In these 11 days, I will be
preaching for 3 congregations of the Lord’s Church. First
is the South Auckland Church of Christ where Chris and
Trevor Major are serving as the minister’s family. Some
of you know Trevor Major as he produced the Discovery
Magazine for years with Apologetics Press in
Montgomery (Trevor was Digger Doug). Trevor is a New
Zealander, so it is wonderful that he and his wife are back
helping the church in Auckland.
I will also be preaching for the Greerton Church
of Christ in Tauranga where my mother grew up and our
family still reside. I will stay with my two uncles and
auntie while in Tauranga which, for me personally, will
be a mission in and of itself. While staying with Uncle
Rick, I will literally be able to walk to the Greerton church
building. The congregation is small, and they cannot
afford a minister. The men of the congregation do a f
antastic job serving in the area. They have called a special
meeting midweek so that I can preach while I am there.
Finally, I will be preaching for the Morningside
Church of Christ in Auckland where John and Lynda
Staiger serve as the ministering family. The
Morningside congregation are hosting a Fall Family
Retreat, and they reached out and requested I come and
speak. The Morningside Congregation is small in
number, but they have managed to pay for my plane ticket
for the journey. Our elders have agreed that this is a
worthy endeavour, and I am deeply grateful to them for
their willingness to allow me this time to serve the country
of my birth.
This is a solo campaign, and I request your prayers
for safety and also for a fruitful mission. Mary’s mother
will be able to come from Arkansas and stay to help Mary
with the boys while they are in school. I am grateful for
being able to take up the torch of service in NZ while
also serving Stateside! Being able to preach the Gospel
and serve in both countries I call home is an incredible
blessing that I do not take for granted. Thank you all in
advance for your prayers.
