Mission Sunday is

Belize Mission
Our Belize Mission work of 52 years started in 1969 when one
person was baptized. This work went from this one person to having Churches of Christ through-
out the country of Belize. We are currently working with the Belize City Church of Christ,
Corozal Church of Christ, Libertad Church of Christ, Ladyville Church of Christ, and Sand Hill
Church of Christ.
The Sand Hill Church is a new start up by the Ladyville Church of Christ minister Bro. Albert
Longsworth. This has been his dream for many years. He purchased the land, tent, and chairs to
get everything started. We were scheduled to campaign in Sand Hill to help get the Church
established there when due to Covid we had to cancel the 2020 and 2021 campaigns. We hope to
go back to Belize in March 2022 and do the campaign in Sand Hill to get this congregation
established.
Each year we conduct a Campaign to Belize where a gospel meeting is held, doors are knocked,
and Bible studies are done in the peoples’ homes. The people there are very friendly and eager to
study with us.
Each year we take approx. 200 Bibles, 150 “God Speaks Today” study books and misc. teaching
supplies. These Bibles are distributed to the people there that do not have a Bible. Any supplies
we have left are left there, divided between the Church to use as the need arises.
David Diego is the minister at the Corozal Church of Christ. He preaches and teaches the adult
Sunday School class as well as Bible studies using the “God Speaks Today” book. There is a
Church of Christ School there in Corozal and most of the teachers from that school attend the
Corozal Church of Christ. They run their van to pick up the members for each of the services.
The Libertad Church is supported by the Corozal Church. Richard Diego is the minister and David
also goes and assists in the worship at Libertad. They run their van to pick up the Libertad mem-
bers for services and take them back home after Church.
David Smith is the minister at the Belize City Church of Christ. Since Covid they have started
streaming their services. There are children’s classes as well as adult classes taught there. Brother
Bennett, one of the members there does Bible studies using the God Speaks Today study book and
baptizes someone almost every week. Brother Canto’s then takes the new Christians and does a
study along the lines of “Now That I Am a Christian”.
Belize is a poor country where their income is dependent on tourism. The Covid Virus for several
months had the borders and airport closed, so there was no tourism at all. Please pray and plan for
your giving on the Mission Sunday contribution so the great work can continue to spread the
gospel in the country of Belize.
