The McDonalds serve the Lord in the North Lanarkshire region of Scotland in the town of Cumbernauld, just north of Glasgow. Graham has been an encouragement to me for the 25 years that I have known him. I was a preacher intern with them, and lived in their home, during the Summer of 2005. It was following this ex- perience that I made the decision to serve the Lord in preaching the Gospel. I am forever grateful for the work the McDonalds have done. They continue to serve the Lord, and have done so during the pandemic and the difficult policies that followed. The Church is still thriving and stayed together through the harsh conditions. I am reminded of the words of Paul to the church in Philippi: “I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:10-13). Like the concern the Philippian congregation had for Paul, longing for an oppor- tunity to encourage him, we have just such an opportunity today. Let’s build up the McDonalds and let them know how thankful we are for their service in the Kingdom in Scotland. Please pray for their efforts! I also pray you get a chance to meet them today. Today Graham’s lessons will encourage all of us, with the sermon during worship service and a report during Bible class. It is much like Paul and Barnabas as they returned to Antioch from where they were first sent: “And from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled. And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. And they remained no little time with the disciples” (Acts 14:26-28). God be praised for the Kingdom and for those who labor for it.
