comes to health. Angoules gives statistics collected by national governments to back his work and
uses his own logic as a medical doctor to explain farm specific injury scenarios. While the author does
not take a particular stance on one thing over the other, he gives solutions on how to prevent these

Conformity And Expectation In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
In Jane Austen s novel Northanger Abbey, conformity is a very prominent recurring theme. The main
character Catherine Morland fails to conform to the clichés of a typical literary heroine and woman in
the aristocratic society. As a child she never enjoyed the more girly activities, she had no taste for a
garden, and if she gathered flowers at all, it was chiefly for the pleasure of mischief, (Austen 5). As a
young teenager she was quite foolish and awkward. The narrator stated at the beginning of the novel
No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy, would have supposed her born to be a
heroine, (Austen 5). However, she was considered to be more moral and honest than the other
characters in the story, especially more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Isabella Thorpe, a friend of Catherine s during a large portion of the novel, believed that Catherine s
brother James Morland was extremely rich and greedily squeezed a marriage proposal out of him.
However, when Isabella realized he was not as well off as she assumed, she broke off the engagement
and started to flirt with Frederick Tilney, Henry s brother. Other women in that time period would do
that as well in order to marry rich, and Catherine thought that practice was revolting. Catherine was at
the age to be married, and John Thorpe clearly showed interest in her. However, she disliked him and
didn t succumb to the social customs and expectations that pressured her to marry him. By showing
her dislike for Thorpe, she was proving that she was able to think for herself and form her own
opinions. She did not allow herself to be manipulated by anyone, and an element of that shone through
when she said If I could not be persuaded into what I thought was wrong, I will never be tricked into it
(Austen 68). Although Catherine is quite young and naïve, she shows maturity in not letting herself be

The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People
Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest
communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous
Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise
awareness towards the indigenous peoples causes globally. Indigenous peoples are generally defined
as individuals who belong to a highly conservative, culturally and linguistically different non
dominant social group, distinct from the modernly dominant society hoping to maintain that
separation with the superior culture. In addition, their cultures and traditional practices have been
harmed over the centuries complications arising from the European ... Show more content on

These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by
indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin
America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject
poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising
poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to
violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the
indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts
derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the
years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a
numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an
alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for
incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy
for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with
indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck
indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a
more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant

Hate Crimes Essay
Crimes
I. Intro What is a hate crime
. A hate crime is when a person intentionally selects a victim because of the race, color, religion,
national origin, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. A person who commits a hate crime can come
from any background and be any race. The term hate crime is meant to differentiate criminal behavior
that is caused by prejudice from behavior that is motivated by greed jealously, anger, politics and like.
Hate groups differ from one another in terms of membership, ideology and activities but do share one
thing in common; they direct violence towards and against groups of people they do not understand.
Most people committing hate crimes feel they are just doing Gods work of letting the victim know ...

Despite its name, the NBPP s founding was independent; it is not an official successor organization to
the Black Panther Party. Members of the original Black Panther Party have insisted that this party is
illegitimate and have vociferously objected that there is no new Black Panther Party. Critics
characterize what they see as the NBPP s actively destructive extremism by pointing to examples such
as Muhammad s Million Youth March , a youth equivalent of the Million Man March in Harlem in
which 6000 people protested police brutality but also featured a range of speakers calling for the
extermination of whites in South Africa. The rally ended in scuffles with the NYPD as Muhammad
urged the crowd to attack those officers who had attempted to confiscate the NBPP members guns.
Chairs and bottles were thrown at the police but only a few in the conflict suffered injuries. Perhaps
more significantly was the fact that Al Sharpton appeared and spoke at this event, and was criticized

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Small Class Size
Research Paper: The Different Advantages and Disadvantages of Small Class Size
Identifying Issues Regarding Class Size
There has been a lot of controversy lately about how a decrease in the number of kids in the
classrooms and could change how well a child performs in his/her schoolwork. Many researchers
believe that a small class size will have a positive effect on class achievement, but other researchers
have found that reducing class size has no advantage at all. For example, Ivor Pritchard from the
National Institute on Student Achievement, Curriculum and Assessment says reducing class size will
increase costs without producing substantial benefits (1999). From this example, it can be seen that
there have been many sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Tennessee s Student Teacher Achievement Ratio (STAR) project of 1997, small class size meant
having thirteen to seventeen students in a class (National Education Association). At a national level,
the U.S. Department of Education s new Class Size Reduction Program [wanted] to reduce class size
in grades one through three to a national average of 18 students. (Hopkins, 1999). William Harms
defines a regular sized class as a class of twenty two to twenty six students(2001). Based on these
definitions, a large class can be assumed to be a class with more than twenty six students.
Advantages of Small Class Sizes
Researchers have found that there are many different advantages to having a small class. Some
researchers and teachers will even say that smaller classes are a key ingredient in student success
(Weingarten, 2003).
Research projects such as Tennessee s STAR have found that a reduction in class size will produce a
variety of benefits for teachers and students. Small classes impact not only students academic
achievements, but they also benefit students social skills and relationships with their teachers.
One example of an advantage for a small class is that struggling students can receive more individual
help from the classroom teacher. Because there will be less students in a class with one teacher, the
teacher is better able to direct her attention and help to specific students. For example, a first grade

Abnormal Psychology Essay examples
It s human nature to wonder why we act the way that we do and why things happen. So many scholars
over the years have come up with numerous theories in order to categorize the things that are known
and explanations of what it all means. Life is full of trials and tribulations and those who study
maladaptive behavior usually focus on the thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and skills one uses during
daily living. Feelings, thoughts, perceptions and skills all combine to aid in creating our mental states
and lead to behavioral abnormalities. Thoughts are made up of ideas, concepts and the internal
dialogue a person has within their mind. Perceptions are how one interprets incoming sensory signals
through processing and organizing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perspective truly focuses on the mind body connection (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.47). The
psychodynamic perspective believes that biological and mental are both equal contributors to human
life. Those who support the psychodynamic perspective believe that personality is shaped by
combining inner and outer events, with emphasis on the inner events (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.59).
Basically, our experiences shape who we are. Sigmund Freud is the most well known theorist of this
type with the basis of his concept involving the conscious and unconscious psychic connection
(Sarason Sarason, 2005, p60). The third theory of abnormal behavior is the behavioral perspective
specifically focusing on how the environment affects how we behave. Those who formed the
behavioral perspective felt that Freud s ideas were too complicated and that this was a simpler way to
explain human behavior simply that we are a product of our environment (Sarason Sarason, 2005,
p.67). The cognitive perspective puts emphasis on how people acquire and interpret information and
use it in problem solving. This perspective also emphasizes the mental processes that people are
unaware of or can be made aware of. The cognitive perspective focuses on our present thoughts and
relationships between emotions, motivations and

Discuss the View That the Impact of Earthquake Hazards...
Discuss the view that the impact of earthquake hazards depends primarily on human factors (40) .
I agree to some extent about the statement above and that human factors can affect the impact of an
earthquake hazard. A hazard is an object or process that has the potential to cause harm. Ground
shaking, ground displacement and flooding are some of the hazards that are produced during an
earthquake. In relation to the question above the type and severity of the impact can be affected by
physical factors (such as the magnitude and frequency of the quake) as well as human factors
(population density and education). I will be discussing the question using the following case studies,
Sichuan, Indonesia and L Aquila.

This lack of management lead to the collapsing of 5m buildings along with a further 21m damaged.
This included 8 schools which were toppled in Dujjangyan, killing and trapping school students.
China did not create an adequate seismic design code until after the 1976 quake and even then it was
difficult to enforce building regulations, producing a total estimated economic loss of $86b. Making
this the second mostly costly earthquake from 1900 2013. The impacts of this earthquake were caused
primarily on human factors, with adequate predicting systems and improved infrastructure the total
loss and damage could have been reduced.
From the case study above we can see that human influences were the main cause in the severity of
the impact, but that s not always the case, physical factors are just as important. This can be seen in
the great Sumatra Andaman earthquake which took place on the 26th of December 2004 and
registered a 9.1 magnitude, one of the third biggest recorded quakes. The subduction of the Indo
Australian plate under the Burma plate triggered the tsunami responsible for the greatest loss of life in

around 3 4 minutes, the longest rupture ever recorded in an earthquake. The focus was located just

Importance of Seasons in Kawabata s Snow Country Essays
Importance of Seasons in Kawabata s Snow Country
In his novel Snow Country, Yasunari Kawabata depicts a relationship between two people in the
mountainous region of Japan. Shimamura, a businessman from Tokyo, visits a village in the snow
country and develops a relationship with Komako, a geisha in that village. Their relationship is the
central focus of the novel, as it changes each time Shimamura leaves for Tokyo and returns. Kawabata
uses the changing of the seasons to reflect these changes in relationship. Since the novel is set in the
snow country, the seasons have specific characteristics, and these parallel the relationship between the
two central characters. Spring is a time of new beginnings in the snow country ... Show more content

In the snow country, spring is a time when people can re enter the world as the snow that has engulfed
their houses for the cold winter months begins to melt away. It is a time when rains bring tiny sprouts
of plants that have been forgotten because the snow has covered them for so long. These new
beginnings and rebirths in nature are reflected in the relationship between Shimamura and Komako.
Shimamura sees Komako in the same way as the new sprouts budding up from the ground, as an
unspoiled creature that has just surfaced. He considers Komako an amateur and refers to her as clean .
Thus, he feels he needs to look out for the new seed to make sure she grows safely. His protecting
nature and her dependence on him form the foundation of the friendship that develops as the initial
relationship between the two. Shimamura, however, had labeled her an amateur and, after a week in
the mountains during which he had spoken to almost no one, he found himself longing for a
companion. It was therefore friendship more than anything else that he felt for the woman. His
response to the mountains had extended itself to cover her. (23) Shimamura views Komako as a new
seed, yet as spring progresses, seeds begin to grow with the help of spring rain. These seeds will grow
and by fall or winter, become a new tree or flower. In Shimamura and Komako s relationship, the
dependency that Komako had on Shimamura fades as

The Planet Of Planet Mercury
Introduction
The planet Mercury is very difficult to study from the Earth because of its proximity to the Sun.
It is the second smallest planet (it was believed to be the smallest until the discovery that Pluto is
actually much smaller than originally thought), and also the fastest in its orbit since it is the innermost
planet.
Solar System Records
Highest uncompressed density.
Highest diurnal variation in temperature.

every two revolutions it makes around the Sun
Geological history ended the earliest among terrestrial planets.
Smallest planet with global magnetic field.
Most Earth like magnetosphere.
Name
Named after the Roman messenger god who was known for his ability to travel quickly with wings on
his feet. Mercury travels in orbit the shortest time of all planets
Distance From The Sun
Mercury is located 57, 910, 000km (0.38AU) from the Sun.
Mercury is the inner most planet in our solar system.

High School Starting Time Research Paper
In more than 40 states, over 75% of public schools start earlier than 8:30 am, which often prevents
adolescents from getting recommended 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep, as a result it keeps students from

Problem: Majority of schools in America start too early in the morning, preventing students from

Analysis Of Mean Girls
Teen girl films are Janus like in nature, being aimed at teen girls themselves, but also at opening up
the world of teen girls to their parents and society at large. The marketing for Mark Water s 2004 film
Mean Girls reflects this divided focus, using a two pronged approach to attempt to attract the largest
range of paying customers. On an aesthetic level, from the appearance of the promotional website to
the music used in the trailers, the film tries is aimed at teenage girls. However, on a less superficial
level, the high brow humor used in the promotional videos and the written content of the website, is
aimed at adults. Mean Girls is praised for success in spite of genre, and the praise is focused it s satire

by this film or it s marketing, and critics and studios don t think it should be. At first glance, the

In the picture on page (31) you see a small, wooden room, in the middle of this room is a sturdy table
with a peculiar tablecloth upon it; on this sturdy table is a small, glass, oil burning lamp. The lamp s

places these things at the center of the family s existence. This shows that the author of The Country

To Gluten, or not to Gluten? In today s world of fad diets one has to wonder whether Gluten Free diets
are legit or the next big thing. Gluten is a protein found in wheat which in someone sensitive to it can
cause a multitude of health problems. It binds on the cilia of the Small Intestine and causes the body to
attack the cilia, which results in irritation and malnutrition. My Mother was recently diagnosed with
Celiac Disease. This causes sensitivity to Gluten and requires a special diet in order to control the
symptoms. The road to this discovery was not an easy one. There were many doctors and expensive

Carefully read all your labels, wheat can be hidden in many forms. I began my trial and error (yes,
there were errors) on making pie crusts. Seems simple enough right? Well, that would be a big fat
negative. The dough was not binding and came out more like warmed powdery flour. The key was not

you lose the binding ingredient that makes your dough stretch and hold together, therefore, it has to be
replaced with something. Xanthum Gum does just that, however, I did find that my cookie pie crust
turned out better than my oat pie crust because it had an egg in it. Switching over to Gluten Free isn t
as plain Jane and boring as good ole Gluten cooking either. I now know of thirty one different flours

youth, groom strong leaders and provide a safe community. DJS initiated VPI supervision in
Baltimore City after high criminal rates, they expanded the program statewide. It has been a great
amount of evidence that supports the effectiveness of The VPI unit at DJS: Statistics shows that the
number of juvenile homicides has decreased 46% statewide from the year 2007. The non fatal

After a contact with a person who is very negative will be suitable for you to wash down all that
energy from yourself. If you are not able to take a shower, then at least wash your hands. Imagine how
the accumulated negative energy goes far away from you.
Express your emotions
Whatever you feel, it is important to express. Suppressing emotions never brought anything good to
anyone , in contrary, leads only to various diseases. Allow yourself to express concern, fear, anger,
disagreement, or anything else you feel.
Grounding
Imagine that you are connected to the ground with the pipes through which you send all your negative
energy in the ground, and imagine that you are taking the positive energy from the earth. This exercise
increases the flow of healthy energy in us.

Star Fox Persuasive Speech
First off, I d like to thank Jim Sterling, a renowned game journalist for bringing this issue to my
attention.
So, Nintendo. We all love Nintendo. Most of us, I assume. For those of you who are unaware of what
Nintendo is, it is the beloved video game developer and publisher of such classics such as the
countless number of games in the Mario series, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, and of course,
Star Fox. Which is what we ll be discussing today. Star Fox Zero has recently been released, coming
home to reviews of about 7/10 across the board. Which is good. Not the best. Some would like to
argue a 7/10 is mediocre or average but I don t believe that. I think a 7/10 is a good solid, fun to play
game.
But that s the problem.
It s not that fun to play.
You see, Nintendo likes to be innovative for the sake of innovation. And that s why we haven t seen a
Star Fox title for a good while now. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, that s why a Star Fox title never
came out for the Wii. They couldn t be innovative. Now, I m all for innovation where it s due. But this
is not the way to go about it. And I m sure I can hear you know, What s so bad, exactly? Well I ll tell
you. Actually, let me ask you something. Hypothetically, if you had a Wii U, which, I m sure a few of

unnecessarily innovative.

Thesis Statement Of The Great Gatsby
Thesis: Of Fitzgerald s works, The Great Gatsby is possibly one of the most facetious and ironic titles
published during the 1920 s. Initially portraying Jay Gatsby as a magnificent and lavish gentleman,
Gatsby has built an empire of mystery and wealth around himself. However as Fitzgerald continues to
retell Gatsby s legacy through the eyes of Nick Carraway, he reveals to the reader the underlying truth
about Gatsby. Upon moving East, the narrator Nick Carraway is immediately enthralled with the
illustrious displays next door, none other than Gatsby s parties. Not long after his curiosity is sparked
he receives an invitation, a rare occurrence as people were not invited they went there (41), and
according to Nick, he was one of the few guests who had actually been invited (41). It is on this night
that Nick first begins to mold his idea of Gatsby and his greatness, and expects him to live up to the
ideas he has formulated in his mind. The sight Nick is greeted with is certainly nothing like he has
seen before. Describing the party as with the rules of an amusement park, (41), such a statement is
clearly proven by the eccentric happenings around him. Despite the fact that Nick received an actual
invitation from Gatsby, being stared at in such an amazed way after asking about his host discourages
him, and he relinquishes with sheer embarrassment , the idea of meeting Gatsby in all his glory, (42).
He hears rumors throughout the night that are mysterious and in

Alfred Stevens La Parisienne Japonisme Essay
Alfred Stevens La Parisienne Japonaise is a painting of oil on canvas painted in 1872. This artwork I
have chosen is a clear example of Japonisme from its time. The artist s work of Japonisme blossomed
after the Japanese western trade agreement at the Paris World Fair of 1855. The influence of Japanese
goods and art in the western world embarked a strong blend of culture in art. Prints, as well as other
decorative materials, became exotic goods in the west.
Alfred Stevens was a Belgian painter who was greatly influenced by Japanese culture he housed
numerous trinkets and Japanese goods. His painting shows a young woman dressed in a blue kimono,
a Japanese robe, while holding a fan. During this time of artistic breakthrough, Stevens worked ...

The culture of what is painted and the medium of the painting display interculturalism. The Kimono
robe gave a sense of intimacy within the subjects. The blankness of the backgrounds emphasizes the
women in the foreground and of course their attire. La Parisienne Japonaise was meant to highlight
exoticism in foreign fashion.
Hybrid art follows the contemporary art movement from centuries ago. The term refers to the
combination, or blend, of two different forms of art. This could mean the blurring of cultural, artistic,
and traditional boundaries. The development of these combinations creates new artistic concepts and
documentation of cultural influences. Those of the west may have underrated the simplicity of
Japanese art. The adoption of western style painting gave those of the east the chance to prove they
can be just as talented.
Wisdom, Impression, Sentiment by Chi Kan Jo is an example of Japanese adoption of western
techniques. The painting is from 1899 and made by oil on canvas. This medium defers from those of
traditional Japanese such as ink and print, opening new opportunities. Nudity was not an ideal for
Japanese art at the time, however it was so in the west. This piece shows three nude females in their
mere neutrality. The similar to the piece by Alfred Stevens, the golden, planar background attests to
that of a Japanese folding screen. These incorporations

The Awakening Of Austria
The world of the early 20th century was a brewing cesspit of nationalism and militarism coupled with
isolationism and web of alliances. One might have noted if they lived at such a t time that war was
inevitable, but no one was quite sure how such a conflict could arise after many of the world powers
had consolidated in military alliances with each other. The ultimate irony of this mindset is that the
alliances that were meant to bring about endless peace, would lead to the greatest war ever seen on the
face of the earth. The forging of these alliances divided the prewar world powers in half, which only
heightened any instances of conflict between each side. The ability for anything that normally wouldn

many people perceive the conflict and places the blame on Germany and Russia aside from the Serbs

Willis O Brien s Use Of Stop Motion In King Kong

that time, it was the only way to create the creatures such as those and have them interact with the live
action characters. Willis O Brien was the lead special effects artist on King Kong; he was one of the
pioneers of stop motion animation. Throughout King Kong, many different practical techniques were
used to bring the film to life including, stop motion, miniature sets, mattes and full scale practical
creatures.
For the film, 74 different Kong were created, they were all alike, their only difference being in their

Kong was only seen fully assembled once during the film and that was at the end after being after

Essay On Decision Making
Caused by a controlled release of water, a boat rescue of one family in the neighborhood close to the
Barker reservoir found a distraught mother who made this statement: They have to do what they had
to do. Accordingly, managers use six steps to decision making to affect organizational performance.
Fundamentally, these six steps are especially critical as these decisions will affect human lives. In
Texas, August 2017, hurricane Harvey became a life threatening, catastrophic event as it dropped
more than 30 inches of rain, as well as, forceful winds on the city of Houston and surrounding coastal
towns, within three days. So, this rare event presented a challenge for the Army Corps of Engineers as

C. Do nothing and hope the dams do not break. However, this alternative will have devastating effects
on millions of Texans who are not already living within flood ravaged areas.
4. Among all the alternatives, I chose option B; a controlled release of water from the Barker and
Addicks dams to prevent flooding in the city of Houston and surrounding areas.
5. Implementing this plan requires that all people evacuate the areas affected by the release of water
from the levees, then, direct the controlled release towards those areas that are already flooded.
6. Establish a procedure for feedback from within and outside of the organization, including;
management, employees, local and federal officials, and residents. This procedure will include the
following important steps:
Compare what actually happened to what was expected to happen as a result of the decision.
Explore why any expectations for the decision were not met.
Derive guidelines that will help in future decision making. (George Jones, 2017, p. 174)
In the end, this decision making process is one that places loss of life at the forefront of the most
important factors to consider. Ultimately, rather than risk a devastating dam break in the middle of
hurricane Harvey, the best alternative is to make a controlled release of water. Thus, after generating
possible alternatives, as well as, assessing each one for legal, ethical, economical, and practical
feasibility, I came

Justice In Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Within human society, a certain symbiotic relationship exists between the ideas of law and justice.
These two concepts often correlate with one another. However, Susan Glaspell s play, Trifles ,
exemplified a specific instance where justice was achieved for Minnie Foster with very little regard to
the law. At the same time, an paradoxical dynamic occurs for John Wright where it doesn t seem that
he will obtain justice even with the assistance of the legal system. Colloquial English speakers often
use the terms law and justice interchangeably, and many people associate the existence of one with the
other. However, there are several key differences between the two on a definitive level. Laws are sets
of rules and guidelines set up by governing bodies that members of society must follow. They re
created by social institutions to regulate behavior, and by suppressing unfavorable behavior, fairness
and equality is usually successfully maintained. Justice on the other hand, is exactly what the
establishment of law making bodies are trying to achieve the equal and same treatment of all
individuals based on righteousness, ethics, and morality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to speculation, Foster s husband John Wright inflicted years of emotional and
psychological abuse by limiting her freedoms and passions. The crime committed against Foster was a
combination of chronic abuse and the alleged slaughter of her beloved canary. As a result, Foster got
vengeance by slipping a rope around Wright s neck and killing him in his sleep. This is an example
where someone obtained justice, as fairness in this case is defined by the victim of an unjust crime. In
Foster s eyes, her husband s death is payment for the loss and trauma she suffered. Therefore, even
though she did not obtained it through the legal system or even legal means, Foster was ultimately

Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay
One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase because
that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is told to them
and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point, does not really have
any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with ideas of their own. So,
THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another word that I chose to
include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of the protagonist, Montag, to
remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it was the only way that the books
were going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled with this job because he could
never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I

This phase was chosen because throughout the book Montag felt a kind of big brother presence
watching him. An example of this is when the hound is sent to sniff around his house after they knew
that he had books. Also, Beatty constantly knew about what Montag was doing, which made him very
nervous and swayed some of his decisions. This was important because it affected how the reader
viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to my project.
Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character Beatty. Beatty
often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and change his
opinion on the situation. In fact, Beatty s entire role in the book was to manipulate Montag into
believing the things that society did at that time. It had a huge impact on the plotline that was
completely necessary for the story to turn out the way it did, which is why it was

Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry
Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting and
comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire his unique
style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his own life... An
interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the Abbey theatre in
Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he captures a calm atmosphere in
his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style which draws me in as a reader. Yeats
also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and conveys his thoughts and emotions when
he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or assonance. The poems that I have studied are The

He uses repetition which creates emphasis on what he is trying to convey. This is evident when he

feel that Yeats depicts the core theme of the poem through vibrant imagery. The Lake Isle of Innisfree
is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he remarkably conveys this
through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture for me. This is evident when he

Implementation Of The Current Process Workflow
4. Lack of a Full Analysis of the Current Process Workflow
Perform a time in motion study of all parts of the current production workflow process
Issue: While CanGo is attempting to use process mapping, those reviewing production efficiencies
lack the professional expertise and knowledge of process control practices. The flowcharting is
incomplete, and lacks a full analysis of all systems involved to truly understand where the defects lie
and areas of improvements can be made beyond implementing a new system that is above the
company s potential fiscal budget.
Instead of an actual time in motion study or an analysis of the process workflow, CanGo management
had an employee that does not perform the work, walk the system with the use of a pedometer. This
tracking tool only tracked the number of her footsteps and is not a credible evaluation tool of the
process, for time, efficiency, defects, and opportunity.
Recommendation: Resource an outside firm to conduct a full analysis of the CanGo s in house
production workflow process. As previously identified within the prior report, the firm would first
need to perform a S.W.O.T. analysis after interviewing with the management staff to identify CanGo s
wants vs. needs. This low level analysis helps to save time and money when reviewing the efficiencies
of CanGo as a whole, additionally, the firm is the subject matter expert and is not vested in the internal

The Reflection Of Achieving College Success In College
Achieving College Success has been a very positive journey for me. Prior to the course, I was mostly
a positive thinker, and had overcome several things in my life. However, the class provided me with
strategies useful in pushing forward in all life circumstances. Many negative thoughts run through my
head, as is true for everyone else. It was important to know how to control them and use my negative
experiences to better myself. I also learned how to set positive goals that will positively benefit me,
and to set a deadline to achieve my goals. I feel much more organized and confident after taking this
course. I feel like I can face anything and come out of it with a positive take away or goal, and
building off every experience will always be a goal now. This class gives great advice for achieving
success in all major life goals. The main, and probably most important concept I learned was the
Creator idea. This means that, When you accept personal responsibility, you believe you can create
everything in your life. (Downing, 43) I knew I could create many positive things in the world
beforehand. I had a migraine for over 3 years toward the end of middle school, and in the beginning of
high school. I should have died at birth, but was given a test trial medication that saved my life. I had
childhood epilepsy that went away, and I have a disabled mother and a dead sister. Perseverance and

Retrieved November 13, 2017, from ( removed HTML ) The author of this article, Antonios G. Angoules MD, is currently a member of the Department of Essential Medical Subjects and the Technological Institute of Athens. Previously, he completed his medical training and residency for orthopaedics and trauma in Athens. He also completed a fellowship and his PhD in the United Kingdom. Given that Angoules is a member of these medical and technological institutes, is a medical doctor, and is published by this journal, this source is credible. This journal, the Journal of Trauma and Treatment, is an internationally published journal with the intended audience of medical professions. This article, unlike most of the other sources, focuses on one thing rather than a series of things. The topic of this article is agricultural related injuries and their immense presence in rural areas around the globe. It is very interesting that rural areas in every country has similar issues when it comes to health. Angoules gives statistics collected by national governments to back his work and uses his own logic as a medical doctor to explain farm specific injury scenarios. While the author does not take a particular stance on one thing over the other, he gives solutions on how to prevent these injuries from happening. Compared to other sources, this one is unique but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Conformity And Expectation In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey In Jane Austen s novel Northanger Abbey, conformity is a very prominent recurring theme. The main character Catherine Morland fails to conform to the clichés of a typical literary heroine and woman in the aristocratic society. As a child she never enjoyed the more girly activities, she had no taste for a garden, and if she gathered flowers at all, it was chiefly for the pleasure of mischief, (Austen 5). As a young teenager she was quite foolish and awkward. The narrator stated at the beginning of the novel No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy, would have supposed her born to be a heroine, (Austen 5). However, she was considered to be more moral and honest than the other characters in the story, especially more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Isabella Thorpe, a friend of Catherine s during a large portion of the novel, believed that Catherine s brother James Morland was extremely rich and greedily squeezed a marriage proposal out of him. However, when Isabella realized he was not as well off as she assumed, she broke off the engagement and started to flirt with Frederick Tilney, Henry s brother. Other women in that time period would do that as well in order to marry rich, and Catherine thought that practice was revolting. Catherine was at the age to be married, and John Thorpe clearly showed interest in her. However, she disliked him and didn t succumb to the social customs and expectations that pressured her to marry him. By showing her dislike for Thorpe, she was proving that she was able to think for herself and form her own opinions. She did not allow herself to be manipulated by anyone, and an element of that shone through when she said If I could not be persuaded into what I thought was wrong, I will never be tricked into it (Austen 68). Although Catherine is quite young and naïve, she shows maturity in not letting herself be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise awareness towards the indigenous peoples causes globally. Indigenous peoples are generally defined as individuals who belong to a highly conservative, culturally and linguistically different non dominant social group, distinct from the modernly dominant society hoping to maintain that separation with the superior culture. In addition, their cultures and traditional practices have been harmed over the centuries complications arising from the European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant ... Despite its name, the NBPP s founding was independent; it is not an official successor organization to the Black Panther Party. Members of the original Black Panther Party have insisted that this party is illegitimate and have vociferously objected that there is no new Black Panther Party. Critics characterize what they see as the NBPP s actively destructive extremism by pointing to examples such as Muhammad s Million Youth March , a youth equivalent of the Million Man March in Harlem in which 6000 people protested police brutality but also featured a range of speakers calling for the extermination of whites in South Africa. The rally ended in scuffles with the NYPD as Muhammad urged the crowd to attack those officers who had attempted to confiscate the NBPP members guns. Chairs and bottles were thrown at the police but only a few in the conflict suffered injuries. Perhaps more significantly was the fact that Al Sharpton appeared and spoke at this event, and was criticized later for taking part in its controversial rhetoric. The Million Youth March became an annual event thereafter, but rapidly lost popularity as time progressed. In Tennessee s Student Teacher Achievement Ratio (STAR) project of 1997, small class size meant having thirteen to seventeen students in a class (National Education Association). At a national level, the U.S. Department of Education s new Class Size Reduction Program [wanted] to reduce class size in grades one through three to a national average of 18 students. (Hopkins, 1999). William Harms defines a regular sized class as a class of twenty two to twenty six students(2001). Based on these definitions, a large class can be assumed to be a class with more than twenty six students. Advantages of Small Class Sizes Researchers have found that there are many different advantages to having a small class. Some researchers and teachers will even say that smaller classes are a key ingredient in student success (Weingarten, 2003). Research projects such as Tennessee s STAR have found that a reduction in class size will produce a variety of benefits for teachers and students. Small classes impact not only students academic achievements, but they also benefit students social skills and relationships with their teachers. One example of an advantage for a small class is that struggling students can receive more individual help from the classroom teacher. Because there will be less students in a class with one teacher, the teacher is better able to direct her attention and help to specific students. For example, a first grade ... So many scholars over the years have come up with numerous theories in order to categorize the things that are known and explanations of what it all means. Life is full of trials and tribulations and those who study maladaptive behavior usually focus on the thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and skills one uses during daily living. Feelings, thoughts, perceptions and skills all combine to aid in creating our mental states and lead to behavioral abnormalities. Those who support the psychodynamic perspective believe that personality is shaped by combining inner and outer events, with emphasis on the inner events (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.59). Basically, our experiences shape who we are. Sigmund Freud is the most well known theorist of this type with the basis of his concept involving the conscious and unconscious psychic connection (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p60). The third theory of abnormal behavior is the behavioral perspective specifically focusing on how the environment affects how we behave. Those who formed the behavioral perspective felt that Freud s ideas were too complicated and that this was a simpler way to explain human behavior simply that we are a product of our environment (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.67). I agree to some extent about the statement above and that human factors can affect the impact of an earthquake hazard. A hazard is an object or process that has the potential to cause harm. Ground shaking, ground displacement and flooding are some of the hazards that are produced during an earthquake. In relation to the question above the type and severity of the impact can be affected by physical factors (such as the magnitude and frequency of the quake) as well as human factors (population density and education). In the snow country, spring is a time when people can re enter the world as the snow that has engulfed their houses for the cold winter months begins to melt away. It is a time when rains bring tiny sprouts of plants that have been forgotten because the snow has covered them for so long. These new beginnings and rebirths in nature are reflected in the relationship between Shimamura and Komako. Shimamura sees Komako in the same way as the new sprouts budding up from the ground, as an unspoiled creature that has just surfaced. He considers Komako an amateur and refers to her as clean . Thus, he feels he needs to look out for the new seed to make sure she grows safely. His protecting nature and her dependence on him form the foundation of the friendship that develops as the initial relationship between the two. Shimamura, however, had labeled her an amateur and, after a week in the mountains during which he had spoken to almost no one, he found himself longing for a companion. It was therefore friendship more than anything else that he felt for the woman. His response to the mountains had extended itself to cover her. • 26. Willis O Brien s Use Of Stop Motion In King Kong King Kong (1933) The 1933 film King Kong was one of the first feature films to use stop motion as a practical effect. In that time, it was the only way to create the creatures such as those and have them interact with the live action characters. Willis O Brien was the lead special effects artist on King Kong; he was one of the pioneers of stop motion animation. Throughout King Kong, many different practical techniques were used to bring the film to life including, stop motion, miniature sets, mattes and full scale practical creatures. For the film, 74 different Kong were created, they were all alike, their only difference being in their size. The largest Kong was 50 ft. tall, its face alone, from chin to hair line, was 7 ft. tall. The biggest Kong was only seen fully assembled once during the film and that was at the end after being after being shot down by aeroplanes. Sometimes multiple Kongs had to be used in the one sequence. This all depended on how far away the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the stage is lit and the camera is at the right distance all you have to do is shoot and move the figures. As the characters are there under the lights, no shadows have to be created unlike with computer generated characters. In the 2005 remake of King Kong, the technology to be able to bring such a creature as Kong to life had advanced a lot. Motion Capture (Mocap) was the primary tool used in creating the creature. Mocap is the technique of recording movement and mapping it to King Kong (2005) General Kong started out as motion capture with Andy Serkis as Kong. Most of not all the shots were then taken through the animation suite so they could be adjusted or in some cases, changed all together. • 27. Essay On Decision Making Caused by a controlled release of water, a boat rescue of one family in the neighborhood close to the Barker reservoir found a distraught mother who made this statement: They have to do what they had to do. Accordingly, managers use six steps to decision making to affect organizational performance. Fundamentally, these six steps are especially critical as these decisions will affect human lives. In Texas, August 2017, hurricane Harvey became a life threatening, catastrophic event as it dropped more than 30 inches of rain, as well as, forceful winds on the city of Houston and surrounding coastal towns, within three days. So, this rare event presented a challenge for the Army Corps of Engineers as the flooding caused structural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... C. Do nothing and hope the dams do not break. However, this alternative will have devastating effects on millions of Texans who are not already living within flood ravaged areas. 4. Among all the alternatives, I chose option B; a controlled release of water from the Barker and Addicks dams to prevent flooding in the city of Houston and surrounding areas. 5. Implementing this plan requires that all people evacuate the areas affected by the release of water from the levees, then, direct the controlled release towards those areas that are already flooded. 6. Establish a procedure for feedback from within and outside of the organization, including; management, employees, local and federal officials, and residents. This procedure will include the following important steps: Compare what actually happened to what was expected to happen as a result of the decision. Explore why any expectations for the decision were not met. Derive guidelines that will help in future decision making. (George Jones, 2017, p. 174) In the end, this decision making process is one that places loss of life at the forefront of the most important factors to consider. Ultimately, rather than risk a devastating dam break in the middle of hurricane Harvey, the best alternative is to make a controlled release of water. Thus, after generating possible alternatives, as well as, assessing each one for legal, ethical, economical, and practical feasibility, I came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Justice In Susan Glaspell s Trifles Within human society, a certain symbiotic relationship exists between the ideas of law and justice. These two concepts often correlate with one another. However, Susan Glaspell s play, Trifles , exemplified a specific instance where justice was achieved for Minnie Foster with very little regard to the law. At the same time, an paradoxical dynamic occurs for John Wright where it doesn t seem that he will obtain justice even with the assistance of the legal system. Colloquial English speakers often use the terms law and justice interchangeably, and many people associate the existence of one with the other. However, there are several key differences between the two on a definitive level. Laws are sets of rules and guidelines set up by governing bodies that members of society must follow. They re created by social institutions to regulate behavior, and by suppressing unfavorable behavior, fairness and equality is usually successfully maintained. Justice on the other hand, is exactly what the establishment of law making bodies are trying to achieve the equal and same treatment of all individuals based on righteousness, ethics, and morality. ... The crime committed against Foster was a combination of chronic abuse and the alleged slaughter of her beloved canary. As a result, Foster got vengeance by slipping a rope around Wright s neck and killing him in his sleep. This is an example where someone obtained justice, as fairness in this case is defined by the victim of an unjust crime. In Foster s eyes, her husband s death is payment for the loss and trauma she suffered. Therefore, even though she did not obtained it through the legal system or even legal means, Foster was ultimately able to attain justice in her own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase because that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is told to them and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point, does not really have any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with ideas of their own. So, THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another word that I chose to include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of the protagonist, Montag, to remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it was the only way that the books were going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled with this job because he could never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I chose the word, DEPRESSION. This word was chosen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This phase was chosen because throughout the book Montag felt a kind of big brother presence watching him. An example of this is when the hound is sent to sniff around his house after they knew that he had books. Also, Beatty constantly knew about what Montag was doing, which made him very nervous and swayed some of his decisions. This was important because it affected how the reader viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to my project. Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character Beatty. Beatty often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and change his opinion on the situation. In fact, Beatty s entire role in the book was to manipulate Montag into believing the things that society did at that time. It had a huge impact on the plotline that was completely necessary for the story to turn out the way it did, which is why it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting and comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire his unique style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his own life... An interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the Abbey theatre in Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he captures a calm atmosphere in his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style which draws me in as a reader. Yeats also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and conveys his thoughts and emotions when he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or assonance. The poems that I have studied are The Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at Coole , An Irish Airman Foresees His Death , September 1913 and Sailing to Byzantium ... This is evident when he opens with the line I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree . The Lake Isle of Innisfree is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he remarkably conveys this through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture for me. This is evident when he states There midnight s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow and I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore . Therefore, I firmly believe that Yeats unique yet simple style lucidly conveys the main theme of this poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Implementation Of The Current Process Workflow 4. Lack of a Full Analysis of the Current Process Workflow Perform a time in motion study of all parts of the current production workflow process Issue: While CanGo is attempting to use process mapping, those reviewing production efficiencies lack the professional expertise and knowledge of process control practices. The flowcharting is incomplete, and lacks a full analysis of all systems involved to truly understand where the defects lie and areas of improvements can be made beyond implementing a new system that is above the company s potential fiscal budget. Instead of an actual time in motion study or an analysis of the process workflow, CanGo management had an employee that does not perform the work, walk the system with the use of a pedometer. This tracking tool only tracked the number of her footsteps and is not a credible evaluation tool of the process, for time, efficiency, defects, and opportunity. Recommendation: Resource an outside firm to conduct a full analysis of the CanGo s in house production workflow process. As previously identified within the prior report, the firm would first need to perform a S.W.O.T. analysis after interviewing with the management staff to identify CanGo s wants vs. needs. This low level analysis helps to save time and money when reviewing the efficiencies of CanGo as a whole, additionally, the firm is the subject matter expert and is not vested in the internal company politics which will lend to a more comprehensive understanding of ... • 35. The Reflection Of Achieving College Success In College Achieving College Success has been a very positive journey for me. Prior to the course, I was mostly a positive thinker, and had overcome several things in my life. However, the class provided me with strategies useful in pushing forward in all life circumstances. Many negative thoughts run through my head, as is true for everyone else. It was important to know how to control them and use my negative experiences to better myself. I also learned how to set positive goals that will positively benefit me, and to set a deadline to achieve my goals. I feel much more organized and confident after taking this course. I feel like I can face anything and come out of it with a positive take away or goal, and building off every experience will always be a goal now. This class gives great advice for achieving success in all major life goals. The main, and probably most important concept I learned was the Creator idea. This means that, When you accept personal responsibility, you believe you can create everything in your life. (Downing, 43) I knew I could create many positive things in the world beforehand. I had a migraine for over 3 years toward the end of middle school, and in the beginning of high school. I should have died at birth, but was given a test trial medication that saved my life. I had childhood epilepsy that went away, and I have a disabled mother and a dead sister. Perseverance and coming back from trouble have been the qualities that have characterized my life up to ...
