Oligopoly Market Structure
Oligopoly Oligopoly is a market structure in which the number of sellers is small. Oligopoly
requires strategic thinking, unlike perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition.
Under perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition, a seller faces a well defined
demand curve for its output, and should choose the quantity where MR=MC. The seller does not
worry about how other sellers will react, because either the seller is negligibly small, or already a
monopoly. Under oligopoly, a seller is big enough to affect the market. You must respond to your
rivals choices, but your rivals are responding to your choices.
In oligopoly markets, there is a tension between cooperation and self interest. If all the ... Show

Jack does not care that Jill s output is sold at a lower price.
The price effect is smaller for duopoly than monopoly, and the quantity effect favors more output
whenever price is above marginal cost. Therefore, the Nash equilibrium price will be closer to
marginal cost than the monopoly price. The more firms in the oligopoly, the smaller the price
effect will be, and the lower the Nash equilibrium price. When the number of firms approaches
infinity, the price effect approaches zero. Therefore, each seller will increase output whenever the
price is above marginal cost. In the limit, we have the perfectly competitive price, and the socially
efficient quantity.
A Brief Introduction to Game Theory Game Theory can be used to study oligopoly games other
than the quantity competition game played by Jack and Jill, as well as arms races, voting
games, bargaining games, and so on. A Game is defined to be: A set of players A set of possible
strategies for each player, A payoff or outcome function that assigns payoffs to each player for each
combination of strategies (one strategy for each player).

Yellowstone Persuasive Speech
With millions of visitors each year, Yellowstone National Park is a huge tourist attraction to
people from all over the world. But underneath its many geysers and hot spots, there is a big
issue steaming below the surface. What some people may not know is that Yellowstone is
actually sitting in one of the largest calderas in the world, and has been brewing for centuries.
When and if it ever erupts, the effects could be enormous, but what if we find a way to prevent it?
And what would the effects of that be?
Earlier this year, NASA s Advisory Council of Planetary Defense made some startling
announcements. Studies done within the council have figured out that the greatest natural threat to
our planet is not extraterrestrial. The likelihood of an asteroid or comet hitting our Earth and
setting off a mass extinction like that of the dinosaurs is not as probable as supervolcano erupting
and launching our planet into a volcanic winter to last for decades to come. A supervolcano is a
volcano which is capable of producing a volcanic eruption with an ejecta volume of greater than
1,000km3 (240 cu mi). There are only six in the world, and the most powerful is the Yellowstone
supervolcano. Yellowstone is estimated to erupt approximately every 650,000 years, and the last
time was about 640,000 years ago. NASA assembled a team at their Jet Propulsion Lab in
California to figure out how we could stop the threat.
The biggest problem the team had after identifying their target was how to

Dane-Zaa Oral History Summary
In Dane Zaa Oral History: Why It s Not Hearsay, Robin Ridington introduces an historical
Canadian court case in which oral history was introduced. (Ridington 38) She discusses evidence
provided by elders, anthropologists, historians, and other experts (Ridington 39) to demonstrate
why oral history is not hearsay. In addition, Ridington provides an in depth analysis of Dane Zaa
oral history in current legal opinion regarding the admissibility of such evidence. (Ridington 39)
Ridington argues that the usage of oral history in Canadian courts provides further insight into little
known cases and therefore is considered legitimate evidence and not hearsay. As Ridington begins
her article she starts by examining the rivalry between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Where happiness Dwells: A History of the Dane Zaa First Nations. (Ridington 44) Ridington
shares one of the stories she collected from a Doig elder Aku in 1966. (Ridington 44) The stories
protagonist is a direct ancestor of the Diog community. It tells of a individual named Duuk
isachin and the power of his vision quest (Ridington 45) to save his village. The story takes place
in a valley located near a river surrounded by mountains, a close description to the Finlay River
and Rocky Mountain Trench. (Ridington 45) Ridington points out that it is not only an important
story to the Diog people but also for historians as it places their ancestors in the Rocky Mountain
Trench before western contact. The oral history accounts of Duuk isachin s life provide a Dane
Zaa perspective on the early years of the Fur trade. (Ridington 46) Dane Zaa oral histories provide a
full of detail description of past events, unlike written documents that have pieces of the story
missing. Ridington concludes with arguing that oral history is an authentic account of past events

Illegal Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs in the Olympics
Since the original Olympic Games in ancient Greece, athletes have struggled to find a way to gain
the competitive edge. Early rituals included consuming wine and brandy before an event, eating
potent mushrooms, and even concocting magic potions thought to give the athlete improved
performance ability (Phillips, 2000, p.53). A constant battle has been fought as the International
Olympic Committee struggles to keep drug testing up to date and effective. We have come to
associate drug use with a few famous names of fallen heroes, such as Ben Johnson and the most
recent, C.J. Hunter, but few people realize just how widespread drug use is in Olympic sports and

Swimmers and athletes of track and field are inherently more reliant on their physique than any
ball player (Economist, 1998, p.10). The athletes of track and field are competing as individuals,
compared to an entire team. Their flaws and faults are more obvious and prevalent than if they
were part of a team and had other athletes around them to help them. Yes, track and field can be
considered a team oriented sport, since everyone is part of a team. But the competition itself is
based upon the individual, and that is why many athletes feel the pressure to use any method
possible to help them gain a competitive edge. But my thought is that no matter what the
competition is, or whom you are competing against, there is no need to use chemicals to increase
your athletic performance. I also feel as though many of the athletes in track and field use
performance enhancing drugs because they feel pressured into it.
There is an ever increasing amount of athletes in track and field who use performance enhancing
drugs, so many athletes feel compelled to taking them. They probably feel as though if they are
working and training as hard as they can, and there are other athletes out there who are also
working just as intensely, plus taking chemicals to give them added strength and endurance, then
those athletes will have the competitive edge. It reminds me of Darwin s theory of survival of the
fittest. Those who are the most fit, or in other words, those who are stronger,

Why Building Administrations Have A Developing Business...
Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time,
energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example,
motor administration, security framework programming, and some more. The business sector
progression were further pushed by the propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of
their suppliers. It has been and keeps on being essentially the stringent discharges enactment that
has brought building prerequisites up in Europe as far back as the mid 90s when the primary Euro
outflows standard produced results in 1993 (Euro 1). Amid the same time frame, it has been a
developing supplier and OEM test to guarantee that another vehicle meets the current standarВd.
While it was entirely reasonable to legitimize the developing designing endeavors for huge
arrangement generation vehicle extends, the circumstance was rapidly breaking down for the
creators of specialty models subsequent to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of
Bosch Engineering GmbH: Corner model OEMs dependably had a rational comprehension of the
assets that could go into adjusting arrangement auto items for their vehicles. In any case, with
discharges enactment getting harder and rivalry getting harder, they understood that they required
more parameters and capacities to be tweaked for their make. Minor homologation was not
adequate any more. At the point when Bosch Engineering was established in 1999

Taking a Look at Accounting
Accounting Have you ever wondered who files out your financial statements? Ever thought
about wanting to be the one to figure out someone s financial statements? Well I have chosen to
do research about accounting. Accounting is a very well paid career with little schooling
required. More than 90 percent of the time you are working in a comfortable environment.
Accounting jobs are also available almost anywhere you live or want to work. Work
environment for accounting is very comfortable. You will always have access to an air
conditioner, always have a comfortable chair to sit in, and you will always have a desk to sit at.
However, that chair could get a little uncomfortable after working very long days. Accountants
typically only work forty hours per week (Career Explorer, 2012). In public accounting, you
usually work 45 hours a week (Career Explorer, 2012). Although, during the 3 month busy
season, your hours can be bumped up from 45 hours a week to 55 to 80 hours a week (Career
Explorer, 2012). Sometimes, you might not even get a lunch break for that day. You can take
one if you would like but accounting is a fast paced and time sensitive occupation and things
need to be done by a certain deadline (Career Explorer, 2012). In accounting, you need to have
good social skills because one person cannot know everything about a case or situation, so he/she
may need assistance to complete a task (Career Explorer, 2012). As far as supervision goes, there

Heroic Ignorance And Gothic Novels By Jane Austen
Heroic Ignorance and Gothic Novels
Jane Austen s novel, Northanger Abbey, seeks to explore the effect of wealth on society.
Throughout the novel, this portrayal of wealth assumes an increasingly critical tone, and is thus
used to suggest the negative impact of financial goals in a relationship. This is shown in the
contrast between Catherine s relationship with Mr. Tilney, and Isabella s promiscuous ways. In this
dynamic, Catherine remains pure, engaged to a poor clergyman, whereas her friend Isabella
ensnares men in the hopes of gaining wealth and societal status. Through this dynamic, Austen
provides an example of the British Romantic ideal that both love and the individual are only pure
and righteous when freed from the constraints of society and affluence. Ironically, the Gothic novels
that were prevalent in the later part of the British Romantic Period are frequently cited as a source
of misfortune throughout the novel. Catherine, who is portrayed as good and pure, is misled into
believing that the stories spun in Gothic novels are applicable to her own life. Her friend, Isabella,
is also portrayed as a lover of the genre, which is Austen s way of hinting at Isabella s future sins.
Although the Gothics influence both Catherine and Isabella, Austen portrays the characters as
opposites one the promiscuous villain and one the victim of the heroic tale. Austen continuously
comments on the nature of heroism, and thus mocks the timid Catherine while ironically branding
her a

defendants were acquitted, and a local paper recognized him as one of the youngest barristers in

British oppression. By 1838, Macdonald was one of the most popular names in the province. He
had his career in the bag. In 1841, Kingston became the capital of the merged Upper Canada and
Lower Canada together, being named Canada East and Canada West. This meant a lot to John,
because this gave him opportunities to become director of many companies in Kingston. By that

commercial properties in downtown Toronto. Due to his large investments, he managed to provide

America Needs More Government Programs to Pull Children...
The face of poverty is changing in the United States. When someone mentions that a person is
living in poverty, we are inclined to think of a bum living on the street, eating at shelters, and
using whatever money they have for alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Usually we visualize this person
as being a middle aged male with drab clothing and a long beard. This description may have fit the
average person living in povertyor on the street a few years ago, but it is no longer a correct
generalization. Children are the face of poverty in 2015. These children have little chance to rise
up out of the lifestyle they are born into. Many of these children are born to teenage girls. The

Some people are born into stable families, so they have m ore opportunities than those that are born
into poverty. No matter how people feel toward the choices that the parents made, we can t hold this
against the child.
One other thing society canГt do is simply hand out money or food stamps to the families of these
children. Who knows where this money is going or what it is being used for? The food stamps
could be intended to feed a baby, but instead they could be used to buy food or items that a child
will never see. It is also all to common for parents living in poverty or on the streets to use what
money they get for alcohol or cigarettes. Instead of handing out money to these people, they
should be put i n treatment programs that could help them fight their addictions. This would be
of great benefit to their children now and in the future. Not all mothers and fathers in need of
assistance are going to be irresponsible with what they are given, but we ca n not take the
chance of having the money wasted and the children neglected. Who wants the money that they
worked for going to someone else, so that person does not have to work, yet still gets paid
regularly just because they had a baby when they were n ot ready? As I stated before, not all
parents living in poverty are irresponsible and many have legitimate reasons for being where they
are. But because there are people who will take advantage of the system, we need to watch out for

Treaty Of Union In 1707 Essay
Before the act of Union in 1707, the kingdoms of Scotland and England existed as two
independent Unions. King James VI of Scotland succeeded Queen Elizabeth I after her death and
in doing so, also became King James I of England, thus creating the Union of the Crowns in 1603.
As a result, the Union of the Crowns were now controlled by the House of Stuart and consequently
ruled by the same monarch. In virtue of possessing the English crown, he also ruled over the
Kingdom of Ireland, yet each Kingdom maintained their own parliaments and laws.
However, this arrangement changed significantly in 1707, when the unions of Scotland and England
were united. The agreement created by the amalgamation of these kingdoms is known as the Treaty

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in
the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall
in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was

Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components
with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product
quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to

important than a products quality and reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save

troops crossed the border into Kuwait, ending America s war in Iraq. More than 100 vehicles

leaving behind empty bases and memories of nearly 4,500 American lives that were lost.
Americans breathed a sigh of relief. Many Iraqis held their breath. War, they feared, was far
from over for them, and time has borne out their fears. The death and violence never stopped it s
just that the bombs and bullets faded from American minds and television screens once the pull
out was complete. Two years later we re back in Iraq and things are in many ways worse for
Iraqis than when the Americans left. Driving in along what the U.S. military called Route Irish

people were killed in Iraq in 2013, according to the U.N. estimates most of them innocent
civilians caught up in the tempest of violence that grips their country. A previous version of ISIS,
the Islamic State of Iraq, comprised the core insurgents the Americans fought in those cities
during the war. They have regrouped and strengthened across the border in Syria during that
country s bloody conflict and extended their fight for a home for their brand of hard line
Islamism into Iraq. The results have been deadly not just in Ramadi and Fallujah of course, but
across the country, where, just like the bad old days of 2005 2009, bombings and killings have

Apathy In American Psycho
I believe that everyone in my generation should watch the controversial film American Psycho.
This movie is essentially a social commentary on how our society is dying. It provides some
examples of the symptoms of a dying society we see in our world today, like apathy, moral decay,
and affluenza. American Psycho displays apathy in the last scene of the movie. The main character,
Patrick Bateman, had just committed mass murder the night before and confessed it to his lawyer.
His lawyer, fearing the public backlash against Patrick, essentially told him to act as if nothing
happened. Patrick was never punished for his heinous crime because no one cared enough to
prosecute him. In addition, when Patrick returned to the apartment where he murdered his friend
several days before, he found a real estate company there that was cleaning up the place and
attempting to sell the apartment. When he inspected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One scene that displays this features Patrick and his friends comparing business cards. Patrick s
card is not the best, so he has a mental breakdown. In another scene, he kills his friend because
his friend likes a different restaurant than Patrick does. Perhaps the most glaring example,
however, is the scene where he brutally stabs a homeless man to death: first, he felt bad for the
homeless and said he would help the him, but then when Patrick saw that the homeless man was
absolutely pathetic by Patrick s standards , Patrick proceeded to take out a knife and stab the
homeless man to death. American Psycho is a masterfully crafted social commentary relevant
today. It shows the signs of a defective and dying society, which include apathy, moral decay, and
affluenza. This is relevant today because these three qualities are exactly what we see today in
society. American Psycho can be interpreted as a call to action, to maintain high moral standards
and to not let our wealth blind us to the needs of other

Film is a powerful medium to communicate through. Film can also be easily exploited. In the
beginning, the first inventors were not interested in film being a largely entertainment and cultural

filmand consequently resulting in totalitarian cinema which later directly reflects international

parties affected filmmaking in the 1930s. The Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang Part,
also called the Nationalist Party, initiated the Left Wing Film Movement and the Nationalist Film

Greek Influence On The Minoan Culture
The Minoan civilization was considered one of the first civilizations in Europe and modeled itself
after Egyptian culture (Matthews, Noble Platt, 2014). Quickly though, the Minoan culture was a
culture created all of its own. Having settled on the Island of Crete, not much is known about the
Minoans, as there is little written history on them and their language cannot be translated
(Matthews, et. al, 2014). It is not even known if the Minoans were of Greek descent, yet they still
had a direct effect on the later Greek culture (Osborne, 2016).
The Minoans were known as an economically stable, mercantile culture that existed from 1700
1500BCE (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Minoans were responsible for creating a complex class
system, consisting of nobles, merchants, artisans, bureaucrats, and laborers (Matthews, et. al,

the foundations for the later Greek polis. Literary writings and poetry, such as Homer s The Iliad

These aspects of Minoan and Mycenaean culture and influence essentially allowed the new Greeks

Falling Down Is Failure Research Paper
Mistakes! Whether it is a bad choice in a love partner or lying to a loved one, it s safe to say that
everyone makes mistakes. Beyond doubt it would be impossible not to. When people slip up and

growing toward physical or mental maturity. Ways to do that is by taking risks and making mistakes.
In many cultures making mistakes is a bad thing, especially in today s society. Making a mistake

of Phineas Gage who was accidentally struck by a pointed iron bar projected by an explosion
which inflicted massive damage to his frontal lobes, apparently destroying the left orbitomedial

logical reasoning, which in turn depends upon the cognitive functions of the PFC ( prefrontal

Before when Jack was in charge of how we get our food, he was not very organized about it. Some
people almost died because Jack was caught up in the idea of hunting and killing. That is not a
good attribute for a chief. Because of the results of how it turned out, I will change the way we
used to do things. I plan to be more organized and will assign certain people to do certain jobs. One
example is if there are about 20 25 people on the island I will split us up into 5 groups and each
group will have a specific job (logos). By doing this, it will ensure people are safe and understand
what their job is and stick to their job. After hunting the food, we will receive and eat the food in

Biological And Environmental Causes Of Homosexuality Essay
According to the American Psychological Association (2013), science has shown that the causes of
homosexuality are generally related to the biological and environmental factors. There are a wide
range of environmental factors, such as sociological and psychological, and various genetic factors
that contribute to homosexuality, and though researchers agree that it is caused between a relatively
complex interchange between nature and nurture, they favor the biological models for its cause.
Biological models, such as theories and studies that explains sex linkages, chromosomal patterns
and genetics clearly explain such phenomenon.
Early in the study of homosexuality, well known scientists such as Krafft Ebing, Ellis, and
Hirschfield suggested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Females who identified as lesbian exhibited a trend to have more sisters who identified as lesbian
and brothers who identified as gay than did non lesbian females. This and subsequent additional
findings that women compared to men who identify as homosexual were more likely to have
sisters as well as brothers who identify as homosexual has been considered as an evidence that
different genetic factors can cause homosexuality in women than in men. Pillard pointed out that
if genetic factors contributed to the development of homosexuality, it must be more frequent
than expected in members of the same family. However, if this was found to be the case, it
would not be enough proof that it was due to a genetic factor, as it could result from other
factors, such as different methods of families, psychological, physiological, and psychological.
This was that up to forty percent of men and women who identified as gay or lesbian in a
newspaper survey stated they had not revealed this identity to their family and up to fifty nine
percent had not revealed it to co workers. If in families with more than one member aware of
homosexual feelings, one openly identified as homosexual, it is likely the other members

The Debate Over The Legalization Of Same Sex Marriage
Within the past few decades, as society has been adapting to various cultural changes, traditional
values have come into contest with more liberal values. One of the most prevalent examples of this
is the ongoing debate over the legalization of same sex marriage within America. In the article
Supreme Court should make gay marriagea national right by the editorial staff at the Boston
Globe, the importance of the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage was stressed
because it is a topic that has been dodged thus far. While numerous federal circuit courts have
ruled on this issue, some in favor and some opposed, the legal dispute of whether the decision
should be left up to the state democratic process will finally be settled. Through looking at
previous key rulings in the cases Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia
, the editorial argued in
favor of same sex marriagebased on the precedence that the Supreme Court has determined
marriage as a fundamental right that should be uniform across the country and equally available
for every individual. However, while the editorial staff asserts this right of marriage as an
institution through those precedent cases, they do not go far enough to justify why the selected
court cases extend to same sex marriage, why marriage is a fundamental right, and why this issue
has been so controversial in the court of law. While the editorial included the two court cases
Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia, it failed to

The Ill Made Knight, By. White Reworks Lancelot Essay
In The Ill Made Knight, T.H. White reworks Lancelot, a major player in Arthurian legend. But he
also reworks a central pillar of the myth: Christianity. Faith is treated in different ways in the
book, but it is never a sure thing, never tangible. Whereas Malory, ChrГ©tien de Troyes, and the
Cistercian Quest all kept God firmly interwoven with the tale, White is unable to do so because
of his anxieties. He wants to believe that there is an active, loving God, but he cannot reconcile it
with events in his own time. He is struggling with a classic religious dilemma: how can God be
loving and merciful if he tolerates evil, especially on such a scale as World War II?
As an example of White s apprehensions, he keeps the description of anything holy as vague, or
refers the reader to Malory: If you want to read about the beginning of the Quest for the Grail,
about the wonders of Galahad s arrival...if you want to read about these, you must seek them in
Malory. That way of telling the story can only be done once. (White 436) Also of note is the odd
narrative device of bringing the Quest to us. The reader is never out in Gramarye, looking for
adventures, but has the aftermath brought to them, in the retellings of Gawaine, Lionel, and
Aglovale. This serves to keep them at a distance, interposing another narrative layer between the
events and the reader.
The quest itself is first conceived of by Lancelot as a diversion, a way for the Table to not revert to

Why Are Animals Endangered Animals
Why are animals being endangered? Endangered species are any species that s threatened; their
numbers of is being decreased and have the danger of getting extinct. A threatened animal is likely
to become endangered in the upcoming future. There are many causes of animal endangerment
some reasons are, habitat loss that is mainly caused by natural disasters, the introduction of new
species, pollution, and overconsumption. Also, humans play a major role in animal s endangerment.
Habitat loss is one of the main reasons why animals get endanger or threaten; it is caused mainly by
phenomena such as floods, hurricanes, thunderstorms, earthquakes, and fire. During natural
disasters, a lot of animals get killed, lose their homes, which cause them to migrate to another
environment, which might not be suitable for them and affect their well being that leads to their
death. For example, the desert is not just an enormous empty piece of land; it is the shelter of many

A Comparison of Haydn s Symphony No. 95 with Beethoven s Symphony No. 5
Introduction As noted by Robert Hughes, Beethoven was not only the embodiment of all that was
before him, but also of that which was yet to come (Hughes 486). The truth of this may be seen by
comparing Beethoven s 5th Symphony in C Minor to Haydn, the father of Symphony, and his 95th
in C Minor. While Haydn s symphony is both playful and dramatic, Beethoven s symphony is
grander both in terms of scale and vision. He expands the size of the orchestra to incorporate the
sounds swirling around, underlying, and depicting the arrival of Fate in a rhythm driven, thematic
symphony that takes Haydn s form and runs with it as though to the top of a mountain peak. This
paper will analyze the symphonies by movement, according to form, size, structure, tonalities,
melodies, orchestral sound and overall mood and effect.
1st Movement Both Haydn s and Beethoven s first movements are composed in sonata form, with
an exposition stated in the opening that is then developed and recapitulated. The size of Haydn s
opening movement is somewhat smaller than Beethoven s, whose opening exposition itself seems
larger than life. Haydn s first movement is roughly six minutes long, and the length of Beethoven s
first movement only exceeds Haydn s by about a minute and a half to two minutes. Beethoven does
not introduce too many structural changes to the traditional sonata form, which he learned from
Haydn, in the first

Water Flow of Flouride
First of all, naturally fluoridated water has fluorine levels of approximately 0.4 mg/L, while
artificially fluoridated water can have levels up to 1.0mg/L. This long term ingestion of excess
fluorine can lead to fluorosis which may negatively impact teeth and bones. Dental fluorosis occurs
during tooth development. Teeth are mostly composed of hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral form
of calcium. When intake of fluorideincreases, it also increases apatite content, creating white
streaks and in more serious cases cause mottling of teeth. In addition, fluoride levels in breast milk
are around 0.004mg/L. Therefore, infants who drink baby formula with fluoridated water will be
exposed to 300 times more fluoride, increasing the risk of developing dental fluorosis. Skeletal
fluorosis is another disease in which fluoride accumulates in the bone for several years. Early
symptoms of skeletal fluorosis may be forms of arthritis such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid
arthritis which are joint pains and stiffness. In more severe cases, the bone can calcify, which is
the conversion of soft bone tissue into hard and insoluble calcium compounds. This can lead to
muscle and joint impairment. (WHO) For over 40 years, U.S health organizations have claimed
that skeletal fluorosis will not develop unless an individual intake 10 20mg/L of fluoride every
day. However, studies in India and China shows that a person can have skeletal fluorosis with
levels of 0.7 1.5mg/L. Fluoride can also impact

LCSW April 24, 2017 Substance abuse in the military has been a problem throughout history. The
unique culture and stress experienced by military service members put them more at risk for
substance abuse. Drug and alcohol use has been an easy escape and a coping mechanism for
those service members who struggle to forget their traumatic war experiences and daily stressors
(Jacobson et al., 2008). According to the 2008 Department of Defense (DOD) Survey of Health

The rise in prescription drugs abuse is linked with the increased number of medications prescribed
to treat chronic pain associated with military service connected injuries. The DOD Survey of
Health related Behaviors Among Active Duty military personnel estimated prevalence rate of
service members actively using illicit drugs at 12 percent, prescription drug misuse at 11 percent,
heavy alcohol use at 20%, and tobacco, including smokeless, at 31 percent (Bray et al., 2010).
Numerous studies have addressed the attitudes and beliefs contributing to stigmatization of mental
health issues within military populations (Dickstein, Vogt, Handa, Litza, 2010). The development
of these stigmas is deeply associated in the traditions and culture that exists in the military. Ame
and Cunradi (2005) stated that workplace culture in the military could be a risk factor for heavy
alcohol use or binge drinking. Additionally, alcohol access is readily available at reduced prices on
most military installations. Multiple studies have also cited mental health stigma as one of the
most prevalent that exist in a military culture. Seeking treatment for substance abuse among service
member is a form of weakness. Rae Olmsted and colleagues compared perceptions of stigma among
soldiers in treatment and those who are not. The findings suggest that those in treatment have lower
perceptions of stigma associated with their care than those service members

Organisms in our society are always interacting with one another on a daily basis. These
interactions impact the fate of the organisms lives, and that of the rest of the ecosystem. These
interactions can either be direct and indirect. A direct organism affects an organism without outside

its effects on a third organism. The three different direct interactions are competition in which both

For each person who claims asylum in Canada, the government spends between $15,000 and
$20,000 (Forrest 2017). Considering just how many people are coming in and filing for asylum,
that is quite a substantial amount of money. Moreover, this means that money that could have
been used for other government programs to help the natural citizens is now being diverted
towards this group of people. As for terrorist attacks, this is a much smaller problem. From 2014
to 2017, there have only been 6 terrorist attacks, none of which were on a massive scale (Press
2017). What s more is that for the most part, terrorist attacks are not committed by refugees. In
fact, the odds of a person being killed by a refugee in a terrorist attack is 1 in 3.6 billion (Nichols
2017). You are more likely to be struck by lightning twice (1 in 9 million) then to be killed by a
refugee terrorist. Now the question is begin brought up about how are the refugees affecting the
unemployment rate? Well to start off let s look at Alberta. In 2017, nearly 80% of the refugees

In opening the lines of communication, it will help unify the culture by suggesting that each
employee learn about each other and their work to be on the same page. When opening the lines of
communication, an organization also needs to establish the rules for both of the organizations to
follow.
Rule Implementing
Implementing rules and sticking to them is a large process in merging two companies. This
becomes such a large process because both of the companies have different cultures that need to
be addressed. In the most ideal situation, the manager would overview the two cultures and
establish what is to be kept, in doing so the new culture and rules will be set forth and the
employees will be required to follow them. This will not be easy for those who have adapted to
rules and do not want to change their ways. Sometimes feelings may be hurt, and employees may
resign due to the new rules implemented. In order to keep the peace, one must explain that things
will be changing, and they hope that those employed will embrace the change and work together
with management to make the transition as easy as possible. Some employees may not see this
fit, and will resign or complain with the new rules. The rules are in place for all of the employees,
despite their age. Therefore, management needs to be strict on how they implement the rules. The
consequences need to be told up front, and if someone if breaking the rules they

My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas
In my birth story there is nothing really to it unless you count me just being born. I asked my
mom, but, she said nothing really happened. But, one thing that she said was that she was
craving some foods like burgers and red cream soda and some other stuff. But after months and
months I was delivered at Good Samaritan Hospital and weighed 7lbs 12.8oz. She always had a
name in mind for me, and it was Jackson because, she loved the name and it meant God has been
Gracious. Do you know your favorite holiday because I know mine. Mine is Christmas because
that s when you get presents and celebrate the life of Jesus. But it only happens once a year, which
sucks. But, another good thing is we get 2 weeks off of school for it. And maybe some snow days
around that time too. One other reason is I like to spend time with my family. My family gets a
live tree every year and the tree fills the house with the smell of it. But Christmas is not my only
favorite thing I also like a sport too. And it is soccer. My main reason I like it is because it has a lot
of sprinting. Also, I like to move stuff with my feet. I also like to watch the sport to see how I
could get better. I think I m good at soccer because many people have told me I am really good. On
weekends when I have a lot of games I like it because I get to play the whole game. When I get to
high school, I will enjoy playing soccer for the high school. The reason I like to use my feet is
because I have good coordination skills.

What Are The Five Generic Competitive Strategies
The Five Generic Competitive Strategies
Gaining a competitive edge in a market saturated with sellers depends on developing a strategic
plan that will align with company goals and customer needs. When it comes to attracting customers,
businesses should focus on two things: (1) quality or features of the product and (2) the price of the
product (Gamble, Peteraf and Thompson, Jr. 89). Standing out against competition, however,
requires planning using competitive strategies. There are five strategies businesses can utilize to
operate competitively and become industry leaders: (1) low cost provider strategy, (2) best cost
provider strategy, (3) differentiation strategy, (4) focus low cost provider strategy and (5) focus
differentiation strategy.
Low Cost Provider Strategy
There are several ways businesses can achieve cost leadership through the implementation of a low
cost strategy. Essentially, passing on savings to customers requires the reduction of overhead costs
incurred by the business. Such costs reductions would need to take place in the form of performing
value chain activities in a more cost efficient manner than competitors or by eliminating certain
activities from the value chain altogether (Gamble et al. 90 91). Little Caesars, Aldi and Zenni
Optical have all implemented low cost strategies that have allowed them to establish themselves as
leading competitors within their industries.
Within the past ten years, Little Caesars has been able to continue to grow as a pizza chain
through the use of a low cost strategy targeting economically challenged areas. Little Caesars Hot N
Ready model focuses on luring the customer with fast service and virtually no wait time. This
model has allowed them to eliminate the delivery option offered by most major pizza chains. In
doing so, customers avoid delivery fees and higher prices because Little Caesars reduced their labor
cost significantly.
Aldi is a grocery chain that has established itself as a strong competitor in the market by offering

Canad A Case Of Good Governance And Good Luck
2008 Canada: a Case of Good Governance and Good Luck The global financial crisis of 2008
shook the pillars of economic institutes of nations all over the world including Canada. The
crisis caused the financial meltdown of various global financial organizations such as the
Lehman Brothers brought the US economy to its knees with matters being exacerbated by the
burst of the sub prime mortgage bubble. Financial markets including various banks went into
bankruptcy with governments having to chalk out large bailout packages and the reserve
parachute of financial reforms and regulations to stop the free fall of financial institutions. Asian
Markets had huge amounts of savings that they were itching to spend buying up US
government bonds which resulted in a fall in interest rates, as a result of lowered interest rates
bankers began to lend to creditors with poor banking histories, this lending was backed by credit
rating agencies who were far too generous in their triple A rating of credits that were in actuality
far more highly exposed. Banks as a result began betting on themselves with borrowed money,
there was an underlying assumption that the property bubble would remain steady or rise and
thus banks did not keep enough margins on their balance sheets to cover for losses and this was
exactly what happened. As the property bubble exploded there was an acute fall in prices and a
proportional rise in foreclosures. At this point banks had to revalue their assets and sell at fire

What Is Millward s View On The Silk Road
From the view point of author James A. Millward, The Silk Road was more than caravans and
tents, it was an ancient form of globalization, and it was more than just a one lane road. Millward
brings up three points that solidify his point of view. Idea one is, Yet the idea of the Silk Road
or silk roads has come to mean many things beyond brocades and caravans, and in its broadest
concept...it stands for the idea that humanity has thrived most when connected across its far flung
habits by the exchange of goods, ideas, art, and people. (Millward pg. 2) This brings to light the
ideas that the Silk Road was more than just a one lane path of which silk fabric and pasta was
traded along. Later in that same section Millward talks about when Hillary... Show more content on

Trautmann in his book, India: Brief History of a Civilization. Much like Millward, Trautmann s
thesis on the Silk Road is we could say that civilizations cast a penumbra beyond them, like the
half shadow around an eclipsed moon or sun. It is a useful metaphor by which to think about the
wider world beyond India proper, that was affected by India and that bears durable marks of its
influences. (Trautmann pg. 128) The culture of India was impacted by the trading of the Silk
Road, common Indian jewelry contained gold and red coral of which came from the
Mediterranean as it was the only place the coral of that hue could be found. In exchange they
received gemstones, pearls, ivory, steel sword blades, bronze vessels, and textiles. Textiles from
India have been found in numerous countries including Egypt where an Indian block print cotton
fabric from Gujarat dating about the 11th century was found (pg. 139) Not only were material
objects traded on the Silk Road but so were ideas and languages, with Indian religions came the
study of Sanskrit and Pali the formations of scripts based on Indian ones, scripts that continue today
in Burma, Thailand, and Cambodia. (pg. 136) It is seen that Buddhism and Hinduism, both
polytheistic religions show many commonalities besides the worshipping of multiple higher
entities. Also evident along other portions of the Silk Road, are Indian forms of Astronomy,
calendar making and time

The Importance Of Prevention And Improvement Interventions
There are numerous current prevention and improvement initiatives taking place in the health care
system to reduce the occurrence of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Some of
the most prominent interventions are to decrease the number of catheters being inserted and
removing the catheters as quickly as possible. Stamford Hospital located in Connecticut, USA,
implemented a CAUTI reduction project after noticing that education based approaches and
handwashing efforts had not decreased the incidence of CAUTIs. They implemented a nurse s
checklist for the justified use of catheters and timely removal of urinary catheters. They also added
a specific cathetercharting module in the electronic health record, and held biweekly... Show more

In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed
on a daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered
in hospital settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify
patients with a Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections
(Clayton, 2017). Knowing when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an
issue and causing a problem is the key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with
avoiding unnecessary use of urinary catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance
of catheters, selecting the appropriate catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and
catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will decrease their incidence and ensure better
quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of 517 hospitals, 56% of them did not
have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton, 2017). It was also found that 74% of
the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an indwelling catheter has been in a patient
(Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to patient safety and quality of care.
Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The next study focused
on working with educators to make sure nurses were properly educated on the proper care of urinary

Giovanni Pico della Mirandola was an Italian humanist,...
Giovanni Pico della Mirandola was an Italian humanist, philosopher, scholar, Neo Platonist and
writer whose main passion was the reconciliation of philosophy and religion. Giovanni Pico della
Mirandola was born on the 24th of February 1463 to a wealthy and illustrious family and died on
the 17th of November 1494. Being the youngest son of three boys, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola
was mostly outlived by his elder brothers who took on presumably significant roles; his brother
Antonio became an imperial army general while Galeotto 1 continued their father s dynasty.
Leaving behind his share of ancestral wealth and principality, he went on to become one of the
world s respected writers after fully devoting himself to studying theology and... Show more content

He then changed course and went to the University of Ferrara to study philosophy. He then
continued his studies from 1480 to 1482 at the University of Padua that was well known for
Aristotelianism where he studied Arabic and Hebrew. He spent the next few years visiting other
humanist centers and the University of Paris which was Europe s most significant center for
scholastic theology and philosophy (Craven, 1981).
Giovanni s movement to Florence marked a big change in his life especially regarding his
philosophical career. In Florence, around 1484 he met Ficino Marsilio and Lorenzo de Medici.
Ficino, a renaissance philosopher who was about to publish translations of Plato s works from
Greek to Latin under the supervision of Lorenzo. (Edelheit, 2008). Later on he briefly moved to
Perugia where he was introduced to Hebrew Kabbalah. It is this Kabbalistic doctrine he used to
support Christian theology becoming the first Christian to do so. After travelling to Rome,
Giovanni invited scholars from all over Europe to Rome to debate and defend his 900 theses
drawn from Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Arabic writers. 13 of these were however denounced as
heretical by a papal commission and prohibited assembly.
Giovanni Pico della Mirandola decided to flee to France despite his apologia for the 13 theses
where he was arrested. After his release he went back to settle in Florence. He settled in a villa
prepared for him by Lorenzo near

How Has Technology Helped International Trade
Although numerous factors influence international trade, technology has the largest impact on the
effectiveness of trade. Three technological advances that promoted international trade include
steamships, measurement of latitude and longitude, and global timekeeping. Besides global
timekeeping, which began in the 1960s, each of these advancements were from the 19th century or
earlier.
The first steamships came into use in the early 1800s, and have since been known as a major driver
of global trade. Before the invention of steamships, trade voyages between the U.S. and China
would take up to five months overseas, which was just as dangerous as it was time consuming.
Steamships allowed for much faster expeditions, which meant perishable goods would arrive
fresher and more trips could be made annually. Steamships were also able to travel close to land
and through rivers, which meant a greater number of trade routes. Overall, the introduction of
steamships allowed for faster and considerably larger amounts of international trade, which led to
the largest increase in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The search for a system of measuring latitude and longitude began in ancient history, and took
centuries of study until the eventual invention of the marine chronometer. A chronometer is a
mechanical timepiece that provides the correct time at a reference location. Several refinements of
the original proposal of the marine chronometer were required until the mid 19th century, when a
device suitable for nautical use was discovered. Throughout history, hundreds of ships were
wrecked or lost at sea due to errors in navigation until the introduction of chronometers, which
allowed for determination of longitude by celestial navigation. This major advancement is required
to navigate long voyages overseas where electronics and communication are not an option, allowing
for safe and reliable international

The Alpine Mountains, The Alpine Mountains And The North...
Europe is the second smallest continent and though it is small it contains forty countries, it s
heavily populated just under six hundred million people. Its countries have had and still have a
major impact on world affairs, whether it s fashion industry, famous for their cuisines, and their
advances in technology, and the way some of these European countries enjoy high level of
development despite major physiographical challenges. Europeis rich for their resources like the
cultivable soils which is great for their farming and wild animals that can be domesticated to do
help with labors. They are also known for their rich fishing waters and they also contain deposits of
oil and natural gas.
When it comes to climate in Europe they have it all from their warm Mediterranean Sea weather to
icy cold weather that comes from the Alps to moist woodlands. Europe is also known to be at the
heart of the land hemisphere that it is easy for them to have contact with other countries and are
surrounded by lots of sea as well like the Atlantic Ocean, Black Sea, North Sea, Norwegian Sea,
Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea and Barents Sea. There s a reason why people refer to it as the
peninsula of peninsulas. They also have some diverse landscapes which are The Central Uplands,
The Alpine Mountains, Western Uplands, and the North European Lowlands.

tools for managing employee empowerment and what are the benefits of empowering employees.
Interest in employee empowermentin service industry firms has been associated with many of the
key issues related to employment practices in general namely in gaining competitive advantage
through improved service quality. (Lashley, 1999). I have reviwed a few amounts of literature from
another sources including journals, books and online articles.

1.4 Barriers to Employee Empowerment According to (Greasley, et al., 2005) managers are faced
with many difficulties when attempting to empower employees and these may prevent a business
from becoming an empowered organisation. As cited by Greasley, et al, Johnson (1994) claims
that there is a threat that employees may not want to become empowered, as they fear the increased
level of responsibility and accountability. Fiermonte (2004) adds employees may be unwilling to
accept their new empowered status as they are afraid their actions and decisions may infuriate
mnagement resuts in them being disciplined or loosing their job.
(Bowen Lawler, 2002) also adds that it is difficult to empower sesonal workers as the training and
reiteration of the company culture and values may be unscuccessful as they may not be working at
the establishment long enough to provide a return on investment.

Analysis Of No Pda !
Emotions No PDA! I will continue to hear through out my day when I went from class to class at
the midst of passing period during high school and middle school. I never knew what teachers
meant by saying that until they would start to get on my case about showing some affection to the
girlfriend I had at that time. That was when I learned that PDA abbreviates Public Display of
Affection and one of the first times I learned an American display rule. At the same time, I believe
some manners may contribute to the display rules. Then, the topic of it is unmanly for a man to
show their emotions. The other discussion about holding in anger opposed to expressing it. I
believe there are limitations to how menshow their emotions, but I do believe that men should be
able to show their emotions. Also, anyone should be able express his or her emotions instead of
holding it and letting it all come out all at once. First, Some of the American display rules are
manners. As an example, when I was younger I was taught it is unacceptable to belch and not say
excuse me at the table with even if the situation is accidental. My motherwould poke arm or pinch
my arm as punishment until I would say those majestic words to make my arm stop hurting. I
completely understand why burping at without saying excuse me is unacceptable now. No one
wants to hear anyone else let out gas in any way. It may have a disgusting same that follows it, and
is so unexpected that the belch may offend someone.

  • 2. Oligopoly Market Structure Oligopoly Oligopoly is a market structure in which the number of sellers is small. Oligopoly requires strategic thinking, unlike perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition. Under perfect competition, monopoly, and monopolistic competition, a seller faces a well defined demand curve for its output, and should choose the quantity where MR=MC. The seller does not worry about how other sellers will react, because either the seller is negligibly small, or already a monopoly. Under oligopoly, a seller is big enough to affect the market. You must respond to your rivals choices, but your rivals are responding to your choices. In oligopoly markets, there is a tension between cooperation and self interest. If all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack does not care that Jill s output is sold at a lower price. The price effect is smaller for duopoly than monopoly, and the quantity effect favors more output whenever price is above marginal cost. Therefore, the Nash equilibrium price will be closer to marginal cost than the monopoly price. The more firms in the oligopoly, the smaller the price effect will be, and the lower the Nash equilibrium price. When the number of firms approaches infinity, the price effect approaches zero. Therefore, each seller will increase output whenever the price is above marginal cost. In the limit, we have the perfectly competitive price, and the socially efficient quantity. A Brief Introduction to Game Theory Game Theory can be used to study oligopoly games other than the quantity competition game played by Jack and Jill, as well as arms races, voting games, bargaining games, and so on. A Game is defined to be: A set of players A set of possible strategies for each player, A payoff or outcome function that assigns payoffs to each player for each combination of strategies (one strategy for each player). The Prisoners Dilemma Bonnie and Clyde are caught with illegal weapons (1 year sentence), but are suspected of bank robbery. Interrogated in separate rooms. If both remain silent, one year each. • 3. Yellowstone Persuasive Speech With millions of visitors each year, Yellowstone National Park is a huge tourist attraction to people from all over the world. But underneath its many geysers and hot spots, there is a big issue steaming below the surface. What some people may not know is that Yellowstone is actually sitting in one of the largest calderas in the world, and has been brewing for centuries. When and if it ever erupts, the effects could be enormous, but what if we find a way to prevent it? And what would the effects of that be? Earlier this year, NASA s Advisory Council of Planetary Defense made some startling announcements. Studies done within the council have figured out that the greatest natural threat to our planet is not extraterrestrial. The likelihood of an asteroid or comet hitting our Earth and setting off a mass extinction like that of the dinosaurs is not as probable as supervolcano erupting and launching our planet into a volcanic winter to last for decades to come. A supervolcano is a volcano which is capable of producing a volcanic eruption with an ejecta volume of greater than 1,000km3 (240 cu mi). There are only six in the world, and the most powerful is the Yellowstone supervolcano. Yellowstone is estimated to erupt approximately every 650,000 years, and the last time was about 640,000 years ago. NASA assembled a team at their Jet Propulsion Lab in California to figure out how we could stop the threat. The biggest problem the team had after identifying their target was how to ... • 4. Dane-Zaa Oral History Summary In Dane Zaa Oral History: Why It s Not Hearsay, Robin Ridington introduces an historical Canadian court case in which oral history was introduced. (Ridington 38) She discusses evidence provided by elders, anthropologists, historians, and other experts (Ridington 39) to demonstrate why oral history is not hearsay. In addition, Ridington provides an in depth analysis of Dane Zaa oral history in current legal opinion regarding the admissibility of such evidence. (Ridington 39) Ridington argues that the usage of oral history in Canadian courts provides further insight into little known cases and therefore is considered legitimate evidence and not hearsay. As Ridington begins her article she starts by examining the rivalry between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2008 she began to produce a collection of oral histories at the request of the Doig River First nations chief and council. (Ridington 44) The outcome of her research produced the manuscript Where happiness Dwells: A History of the Dane Zaa First Nations. (Ridington 44) Ridington shares one of the stories she collected from a Doig elder Aku in 1966. (Ridington 44) The stories protagonist is a direct ancestor of the Diog community. It tells of a individual named Duuk isachin and the power of his vision quest (Ridington 45) to save his village. The story takes place in a valley located near a river surrounded by mountains, a close description to the Finlay River and Rocky Mountain Trench. (Ridington 45) Ridington points out that it is not only an important story to the Diog people but also for historians as it places their ancestors in the Rocky Mountain Trench before western contact. The oral history accounts of Duuk isachin s life provide a Dane Zaa perspective on the early years of the Fur trade. (Ridington 46) Dane Zaa oral histories provide a full of detail description of past events, unlike written documents that have pieces of the story missing. Ridington concludes with arguing that oral history is an authentic account of past events and is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Illegal Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs in the Olympics Since the original Olympic Games in ancient Greece, athletes have struggled to find a way to gain the competitive edge. Early rituals included consuming wine and brandy before an event, eating potent mushrooms, and even concocting magic potions thought to give the athlete improved performance ability (Phillips, 2000, p.53). A constant battle has been fought as the International Olympic Committee struggles to keep drug testing up to date and effective. We have come to associate drug use with a few famous names of fallen heroes, such as Ben Johnson and the most recent, C.J. Hunter, but few people realize just how widespread drug use is in Olympic sports and how small a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Swimmers and athletes of track and field are inherently more reliant on their physique than any ball player (Economist, 1998, p.10). The athletes of track and field are competing as individuals, compared to an entire team. Their flaws and faults are more obvious and prevalent than if they were part of a team and had other athletes around them to help them. Yes, track and field can be considered a team oriented sport, since everyone is part of a team. But the competition itself is based upon the individual, and that is why many athletes feel the pressure to use any method possible to help them gain a competitive edge. But my thought is that no matter what the competition is, or whom you are competing against, there is no need to use chemicals to increase your athletic performance. I also feel as though many of the athletes in track and field use performance enhancing drugs because they feel pressured into it. There is an ever increasing amount of athletes in track and field who use performance enhancing drugs, so many athletes feel compelled to taking them. They probably feel as though if they are working and training as hard as they can, and there are other athletes out there who are also working just as intensely, plus taking chemicals to give them added strength and endurance, then those athletes will have the competitive edge. It reminds me of Darwin s theory of survival of the fittest. Those who are the most fit, or in other words, those who are stronger, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Building Administrations Have A Developing Business... Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time, energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example, motor administration, security framework programming, and some more. The business sector progression were further pushed by the propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of their suppliers. Amid the same time frame, it has been a developing supplier and OEM test to guarantee that another vehicle meets the current standarВd. While it was entirely reasonable to legitimize the developing designing endeavors for huge arrangement generation vehicle extends, the circumstance was rapidly breaking down for the creators of specialty models subsequent to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of Bosch Engineering GmbH: Corner model OEMs dependably had a rational comprehension of the assets that could go into adjusting arrangement auto items for their vehicles. Well I have chosen to do research about accounting. Accounting is a very well paid career with little schooling required. More than 90 percent of the time you are working in a comfortable environment. Accounting jobs are also available almost anywhere you live or want to work. Work environment for accounting is very comfortable. You will always have access to an air conditioner, always have a comfortable chair to sit in, and you will always have a desk to sit at. However, that chair could get a little uncomfortable after working very long days. Accountants typically only work forty hours per week (Career Explorer, 2012). In public accounting, you usually work 45 hours a week (Career Explorer, 2012). Although, during the 3 month busy season, your hours can be bumped up from 45 hours a week to 55 to 80 hours a week (Career Explorer, 2012). Sometimes, you might not even get a lunch break for that day. You can take one if you would like but accounting is a fast paced and time sensitive occupation and things need to be done by a certain deadline (Career Explorer, 2012). In accounting, you need to have good social skills because one person cannot know everything about a case or situation, so he/she may need assistance to complete a task (Career Explorer, 2012). • 8. Heroic Ignorance And Gothic Novels By Jane Austen Heroic Ignorance and Gothic Novels Jane Austen s novel, Northanger Abbey, seeks to explore the effect of wealth on society. Throughout the novel, this portrayal of wealth assumes an increasingly critical tone, and is thus used to suggest the negative impact of financial goals in a relationship. This is shown in the contrast between Catherine s relationship with Mr. Tilney, and Isabella s promiscuous ways. In this dynamic, Catherine remains pure, engaged to a poor clergyman, whereas her friend Isabella ensnares men in the hopes of gaining wealth and societal status. Through this dynamic, Austen provides an example of the British Romantic ideal that both love and the individual are only pure and righteous when freed from the constraints of society and affluence. Ironically, the Gothic novels that were prevalent in the later part of the British Romantic Period are frequently cited as a source of misfortune throughout the novel. Catherine, who is portrayed as good and pure, is misled into believing that the stories spun in Gothic novels are applicable to her own life. Her friend, Isabella, is also portrayed as a lover of the genre, which is Austen s way of hinting at Isabella s future sins. Although the Gothics influence both Catherine and Isabella, Austen portrays the characters as opposites one the promiscuous villain and one the victim of the heroic tale. Austen continuously comments on the nature of heroism, and thus mocks the timid Catherine while ironically branding her a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. America Needs More Government Programs to Pull Children... The face of poverty is changing in the United States. When someone mentions that a person is living in poverty, we are inclined to think of a bum living on the street, eating at shelters, and using whatever money they have for alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Usually we visualize this person as being a middle aged male with drab clothing and a long beard. This description may have fit the average person living in povertyor on the street a few years ago, but it is no longer a correct generalization. Children are the face of poverty in 2015. Some people are born into stable families, so they have m ore opportunities than those that are born into poverty. No matter how people feel toward the choices that the parents made, we can t hold this against the child. One other thing society canГt do is simply hand out money or food stamps to the families of these children. Who knows where this money is going or what it is being used for? The food stamps could be intended to feed a baby, but instead they could be used to buy food or items that a child will never see. It is also all to common for parents living in poverty or on the streets to use what money they get for alcohol or cigarettes. Instead of handing out money to these people, they should be put i n treatment programs that could help them fight their addictions. This would be of great benefit to their children now and in the future. Not all mothers and fathers in need of assistance are going to be irresponsible with what they are given, but we ca n not take the chance of having the money wasted and the children neglected. Who wants the money that they worked for going to someone else, so that person does not have to work, yet still gets paid regularly just because they had a baby when they were n ot ready? As I stated before, not all parents living in poverty are irresponsible and many have legitimate reasons for being where they are. • 11. Treaty Of Union In 1707 Essay Before the act of Union in 1707, the kingdoms of Scotland and England existed as two independent Unions. King James VI of Scotland succeeded Queen Elizabeth I after her death and in doing so, also became King James I of England, thus creating the Union of the Crowns in 1603. As a result, the Union of the Crowns were now controlled by the House of Stuart and consequently ruled by the same monarch. In virtue of possessing the English crown, he also ruled over the Kingdom of Ireland, yet each Kingdom maintained their own parliaments and laws. However, this arrangement changed significantly in 1707, when the unions of Scotland and England were united. • 12. Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad. This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. More than 100 vehicles were in that convoy, snaking its way across the desert and through the floodlit border crossing, leaving behind empty bases and memories of nearly 4,500 American lives that were lost. Americans breathed a sigh of relief. Many Iraqis held their breath. War, they feared, was far from over for them, and time has borne out their fears. The death and violence never stopped it s just that the bombs and bullets faded from American minds and television screens once the pull out was complete. Two years later we re back in Iraq and things are in many ways worse for Iraqis than when the Americans left. Driving in along what the U.S. military called Route Irish or the BIAP (Baghdad International Airport road) the stark concrete blast walls are now covered in murals, the median is grassed with palm trees and fountains. We were reminded this was done for the 2012 Arab League Summit in Baghdad, not for general beautification. More than 8,000 people were killed in Iraq in 2013, according to the U.N. estimates most of them innocent civilians caught up in the tempest of violence that grips their country. A previous version of ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq, comprised the core insurgents the Americans fought in those cities during the war. They have regrouped and strengthened across the border in Syria during that country s bloody conflict and extended their fight for a home for their brand of hard line Islamism into Iraq. The results have been deadly not just in Ramadi and Fallujah of course, but across the country, where, just like the bad old days of 2005 2009, bombings and killings have become pretty much daily events. This movie is essentially a social commentary on how our society is dying. It provides some examples of the symptoms of a dying society we see in our world today, like apathy, moral decay, and affluenza. American Psycho displays apathy in the last scene of the movie. The main character, Patrick Bateman, had just committed mass murder the night before and confessed it to his lawyer. His lawyer, fearing the public backlash against Patrick, essentially told him to act as if nothing happened. Patrick was never punished for his heinous crime because no one cared enough to prosecute him. American Psycho is a masterfully crafted social commentary relevant today. It shows the signs of a defective and dying society, which include apathy, moral decay, and affluenza. This is relevant today because these three qualities are exactly what we see today in society. Further analysis in the various Chinese styles of nationalism demonstrates how political parties affected filmmaking in the 1930s. The Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang Part, also called the Nationalist Party, initiated the Left Wing Film Movement and the Nationalist Film Movement presented two competing discourses of nationalism. The CCP rendered the class struggle with its advocacy of nationalism through films while the KMT endorsed the idea of national survival by advocating Confucian values to maintain Chinese tradition. Having settled on the Island of Crete, not much is known about the Minoans, as there is little written history on them and their language cannot be translated (Matthews, et. al, 2014). It is not even known if the Minoans were of Greek descent, yet they still had a direct effect on the later Greek culture (Osborne, 2016). The Minoans were known as an economically stable, mercantile culture that existed from 1700 1500BCE (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Minoans were responsible for creating a complex class system, consisting of nobles, merchants, artisans, bureaucrats, and laborers (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Mycenaeans civilization existed from 1900 1100BCE, with settlers originating from possibly Russia or the Tigris Euphrates Valley. The Mycenaeans were known for advancing the Minoan language of Linear A to a primitive form of the Greek language, known as Linear B (Matthews, et. al, 2014). The Mycenaeans societal structure was considered to be heavily militarized and fortified in their civilizations (Osborne, 2016). This fortification essentially laid the foundations for the later Greek polis. Literary writings and poetry, such as Homer s The Iliad and Odyssey borrowed from Mycenaean beliefs in heroes (Osborne, 2016). These aspects of Minoan and Mycenaean culture and influence essentially allowed the new Greeks to thrive and allowed for a decentralization of power from Kings to Aristocrats. Beyond doubt it would be impossible not to. When people slip up and learn from the outcome, those people are taking part in growing up. Pillard pointed out that if genetic factors contributed to the development of homosexuality, it must be more frequent than expected in members of the same family. The Debate Over The Legalization Of Same Sex Marriage Within the past few decades, as society has been adapting to various cultural changes, traditional values have come into contest with more liberal values. One of the most prevalent examples of this is the ongoing debate over the legalization of same sex marriage within America. In the article Supreme Court should make gay marriagea national right by the editorial staff at the Boston Globe, the importance of the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage was stressed because it is a topic that has been dodged thus far. While numerous federal circuit courts have ruled on this issue, some in favor and some opposed, the legal dispute of whether the decision should be left up to the state democratic process will finally be settled. Through looking at previous key rulings in the cases Zablocki v. Redhail and Loving v. Virginia , the editorial argued in favor of same sex marriagebased on the precedence that the Supreme Court has determined marriage as a fundamental right that should be uniform across the country and equally available for every individual. However, while the editorial staff asserts this right of marriage as an institution through those precedent cases, they do not go far enough to justify why the selected court cases extend to same sex marriage, why marriage is a fundamental right, and why this issue has been so controversial in the court of law. • 22. The Ill Made Knight, By. White Reworks Lancelot Essay In The Ill Made Knight, T.H. White reworks Lancelot, a major player in Arthurian legend. But he also reworks a central pillar of the myth: Christianity. Faith is treated in different ways in the book, but it is never a sure thing, never tangible. Whereas Malory, ChrГ©tien de Troyes, and the Cistercian Quest all kept God firmly interwoven with the tale, White is unable to do so because of his anxieties. He wants to believe that there is an active, loving God, but he cannot reconcile it with events in his own time. He is struggling with a classic religious dilemma: how can God be loving and merciful if he tolerates evil, especially on such a scale as World War II? As an example of White s apprehensions, he keeps the description of anything holy as vague, or refers the reader to Malory: If you want to read about the beginning of the Quest for the Grail, about the wonders of Galahad s arrival...if you want to read about these, you must seek them in Malory. That way of telling the story can only be done once. (White 436) Also of note is the odd narrative device of bringing the Quest to us. The reader is never out in Gramarye, looking for adventures, but has the aftermath brought to them, in the retellings of Gawaine, Lionel, and Aglovale. This serves to keep them at a distance, interposing another narrative layer between the events and the reader. The quest itself is first conceived of by Lancelot as a diversion, a way for the Table to not revert to Might for its own sake: If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparison of Haydn s Symphony No. 95 with Beethoven s Symphony No. 5 Introduction As noted by Robert Hughes, Beethoven was not only the embodiment of all that was before him, but also of that which was yet to come (Hughes 486). The truth of this may be seen by comparing Beethoven s 5th Symphony in C Minor to Haydn, the father of Symphony, and his 95th in C Minor. While Haydn s symphony is both playful and dramatic, Beethoven s symphony is grander both in terms of scale and vision. He expands the size of the orchestra to incorporate the sounds swirling around, underlying, and depicting the arrival of Fate in a rhythm driven, thematic symphony that takes Haydn s form and runs with it as though to the top of a mountain peak. This paper will analyze the symphonies by movement, according to form, size, structure, tonalities, melodies, orchestral sound and overall mood and effect. 1st Movement Both Haydn s and Beethoven s first movements are composed in sonata form, with an exposition stated in the opening that is then developed and recapitulated. The size of Haydn s opening movement is somewhat smaller than Beethoven s, whose opening exposition itself seems larger than life. This long term ingestion of excess fluorine can lead to fluorosis which may negatively impact teeth and bones. Dental fluorosis occurs during tooth development. Teeth are mostly composed of hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral form of calcium. When intake of fluorideincreases, it also increases apatite content, creating white streaks and in more serious cases cause mottling of teeth. In addition, fluoride levels in breast milk are around 0.004mg/L. Therefore, infants who drink baby formula with fluoridated water will be exposed to 300 times more fluoride, increasing the risk of developing dental fluorosis. Skeletal fluorosis is another disease in which fluoride accumulates in the bone for several years. Early symptoms of skeletal fluorosis may be forms of arthritis such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis which are joint pains and stiffness. In more severe cases, the bone can calcify, which is the conversion of soft bone tissue into hard and insoluble calcium compounds. This can lead to muscle and joint impairment. (WHO) For over 40 years, U.S health organizations have claimed that skeletal fluorosis will not develop unless an individual intake 10 20mg/L of fluoride every day. Moreover, this means that money that could have been used for other government programs to help the natural citizens is now being diverted towards this group of people. As for terrorist attacks, this is a much smaller problem. From 2014 to 2017, there have only been 6 terrorist attacks, none of which were on a massive scale (Press 2017). Mine is Christmas because that s when you get presents and celebrate the life of Jesus. But it only happens once a year, which sucks. But, another good thing is we get 2 weeks off of school for it. And maybe some snow days around that time too. One other reason is I like to spend time with my family. My family gets a live tree every year and the tree fills the house with the smell of it. But Christmas is not my only favorite thing I also like a sport too. And it is soccer. My main reason I like it is because it has a lot of sprinting. Also, I like to move stuff with my feet. I also like to watch the sport to see how I could get better. I think I m good at soccer because many people have told me I am really good. On weekends when I have a lot of games I like it because I get to play the whole game. When I get to high school, I will enjoy playing soccer for the high school. The reason I like to use my feet is because I have good coordination skills. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. What Are The Five Generic Competitive Strategies The Five Generic Competitive Strategies Gaining a competitive edge in a market saturated with sellers depends on developing a strategic plan that will align with company goals and customer needs. When it comes to attracting customers, businesses should focus on two things: (1) quality or features of the product and (2) the price of the product (Gamble, Peteraf and Thompson, Jr. 89). Standing out against competition, however, requires planning using competitive strategies. There are five strategies businesses can utilize to operate competitively and become industry leaders: (1) low cost provider strategy, (2) best cost provider strategy, (3) differentiation strategy, (4) focus low cost provider strategy and (5) focus differentiation strategy. Low Cost Provider Strategy There are several ways businesses can achieve cost leadership through the implementation of a low cost strategy. Essentially, passing on savings to customers requires the reduction of overhead costs incurred by the business. Such costs reductions would need to take place in the form of performing value chain activities in a more cost efficient manner than competitors or by eliminating certain activities from the value chain altogether (Gamble et al. 90 91). Little Caesars, Aldi and Zenni Optical have all implemented low cost strategies that have allowed them to establish themselves as leading competitors within their industries. Within the past ten years, Little Caesars has been able to continue to grow as a pizza chain through the use of a low cost strategy targeting economically challenged areas. Little Caesars Hot N Ready model focuses on luring the customer with fast service and virtually no wait time. This model has allowed them to eliminate the delivery option offered by most major pizza chains. In doing so, customers avoid delivery fees and higher prices because Little Caesars reduced their labor cost significantly. Aldi is a grocery chain that has established itself as a strong competitor in the market by offering groceries at extremely low prices. To achieve such low prices, Aldi cuts costs throughout its entire value chain process. Some key strategies used by Aldi include only offering private labels, reducing labor costs by ... Canad A Case Of Good Governance And Good Luck 2008 Canada: a Case of Good Governance and Good Luck The global financial crisis of 2008 shook the pillars of economic institutes of nations all over the world including Canada. The crisis caused the financial meltdown of various global financial organizations such as the Lehman Brothers brought the US economy to its knees with matters being exacerbated by the burst of the sub prime mortgage bubble. Financial markets including various banks went into bankruptcy with governments having to chalk out large bailout packages and the reserve parachute of financial reforms and regulations to stop the free fall of financial institutions. Asian Markets had huge amounts of savings that they were itching to spend buying up US government bonds which resulted in a fall in interest rates, as a result of lowered interest rates bankers began to lend to creditors with poor banking histories, this lending was backed by credit rating agencies who were far too generous in their triple A rating of credits that were in actuality far more highly exposed. Banks as a result began betting on themselves with borrowed money, there was an underlying assumption that the property bubble would remain steady or rise and thus banks did not keep enough margins on their balance sheets to cover for losses and this was exactly what happened. As the property bubble exploded there was an acute fall in prices and a proportional rise in foreclosures. At this point banks had to revalue their assets and sell at fire ... • 40. What Is Millward s View On The Silk Road From the view point of author James A. Millward, The Silk Road was more than caravans and tents, it was an ancient form of globalization, and it was more than just a one lane road. Millward brings up three points that solidify his point of view. Idea one is, Yet the idea of the Silk Road or silk roads has come to mean many things beyond brocades and caravans, and in its broadest concept...it stands for the idea that humanity has thrived most when connected across its far flung habits by the exchange of goods, ideas, art, and people. (Millward pg. 2) This brings to light the ideas that the Silk Road was more than just a one lane path of which silk fabric and pasta was traded along. Much like Millward, Trautmann s thesis on the Silk Road is we could say that civilizations cast a penumbra beyond them, like the half shadow around an eclipsed moon or sun. It is a useful metaphor by which to think about the wider world beyond India proper, that was affected by India and that bears durable marks of its influences. (Trautmann pg. 128) The culture of India was impacted by the trading of the Silk Road, common Indian jewelry contained gold and red coral of which came from the Mediterranean as it was the only place the coral of that hue could be found. In exchange they received gemstones, pearls, ivory, steel sword blades, bronze vessels, and textiles. Textiles from India have been found in numerous countries including Egypt where an Indian block print cotton fabric from Gujarat dating about the 11th century was found (pg. 139) Not only were material objects traded on the Silk Road but so were ideas and languages, with Indian religions came the study of Sanskrit and Pali the formations of scripts based on Indian ones, scripts that continue today in Burma, Thailand, and Cambodia. (pg. 136) It is seen that Buddhism and Hinduism, both polytheistic religions show many commonalities besides the worshipping of multiple higher entities. The Importance Of Prevention And Improvement Interventions There are numerous current prevention and improvement initiatives taking place in the health care system to reduce the occurrence of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Some of the most prominent interventions are to decrease the number of catheters being inserted and removing the catheters as quickly as possible. Stamford Hospital located in Connecticut, USA, implemented a CAUTI reduction project after noticing that education based approaches and handwashing efforts had not decreased the incidence of CAUTIs. They implemented a nurse s checklist for the justified use of catheters and timely removal of urinary catheters. In the past, Foley catheters remained in place, and the need to continue them was not addressed on a daily basis. But, with education and research this has changed. Education sessions offered in hospital settings and huddles, for example, are perfect opportunities for the nurses to identify patients with a Foley catheter on the unit and review strategies for decreasing infections (Clayton, 2017). Knowing when catheters are being useful and when they are becoming an issue and causing a problem is the key to identifying CAUTI s. Preventing CAUTI s begins with avoiding unnecessary use of urinary catheters, developing policies for insertion and maintenance of catheters, selecting the appropriate catheter, and instituting surveillance of CAUTIs and catheter use. Protocols to eliminate CAUTI s will decrease their incidence and ensure better quality care (Clayton, 2017). This research found that out of 517 hospitals, 56% of them did not have a system to keep track of catheterized patients (Clayton, 2017). It was also found that 74% of the hospitals did not keep proper records of how long an indwelling catheter has been in a patient (Clayton, 2017). These flawed systems can be costly to patient safety and quality of care. Improper education for health care workers is dangerous for patient care. The next study focused on working with educators to make sure nurses were properly educated on the proper care of urinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. How Has Technology Helped International Trade Although numerous factors influence international trade, technology has the largest impact on the effectiveness of trade. Three technological advances that promoted international trade include steamships, measurement of latitude and longitude, and global timekeeping. Besides global timekeeping, which began in the 1960s, each of these advancements were from the 19th century or earlier. The first steamships came into use in the early 1800s, and have since been known as a major driver of global trade. Before the invention of steamships, trade voyages between the U.S. and China would take up to five months overseas, which was just as dangerous as it was time consuming. Steamships allowed for much faster expeditions, which meant perishable goods would arrive fresher and more trips could be made annually. Steamships were also able to travel close to land and through rivers, which meant a greater number of trade routes. Overall, the introduction of steamships allowed for faster and considerably larger amounts of international trade, which led to the largest increase in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I never knew what teachers meant by saying that until they would start to get on my case about showing some affection to the girlfriend I had at that time. That was when I learned that PDA abbreviates Public Display of Affection and one of the first times I learned an American display rule. At the same time, I believe some manners may contribute to the display rules. Then, the topic of it is unmanly for a man to show their emotions. The other discussion about holding in anger opposed to expressing it. I believe there are limitations to how menshow their emotions, but I do believe that men should be able to show their emotions. Also, anyone should be able express his or her emotions instead of holding it and letting it all come out all at once. First, Some of the American display rules are manners. As an example, when I was younger I was taught it is unacceptable to belch and not say excuse me at the table with even if the situation is accidental. My motherwould poke arm or pinch my arm as punishment until I would say those majestic words to make my arm stop hurting.
