Popular Kids vs. Unpopular Kids Everyone wants to be the popular kid in high school right?

isn t always greener on the other side. While unpopular teens wish to join the other side, they

Just imagine the sound of a thousand flies buzzing down the hallway with the latest gossip. In a
matter of one day, one comment could be transformed into a rumor and spread through the
whole school like wild fire. Drama inevitably corrupts most teens but popular teens thrive on it
like an addiction, and sometimes create lies just to ruin one s reputation. True friends, who
might not be the most popular kids in school, but they would also never talk about a friend
behind his or her back just to gain a higher reputation with the popular click (Article one).
Staying out of drama can help one feel less stressed. Avoiding it can also stop individuals from
getting involved in something they might regret. Gossip is difficult to find roaming among the
unpopular group because they rarely feel the need to seek attention or hurt someone s feelings
by spreading rumors. They are already content and aware of how to treat individuals as they
would like to be treated. When the weekend hits it is common for the popular click to go out and
party. Everyone hears the stories of how drunk someone got or how the cops busted a few
unfortunate teenagers. Even the best of teens get peer pressured into going to the weekend party
and drinking. All of this obnoxious partying is not appropriate for a 15 to 18 year old teenager.
Those cool parties consist of high school kids that don t know other ways to have fun or just get
drunk to escape their problems. Teens have to step up and

Lease A new car would be positive impression because the it could represent an image of success
and excellent business practice (Montoya, 2017).
Purchase As expected, the new vehicle would have a positive impression to customers. However,
in the long run, the car depreciates in value. An old and deteriorated car could give a negative
signal to customers regarding the company s business practice (Montoya, 2017).

Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks
Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In his analysis of
companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins identifies the role of a Level 5 leader
as instrumental in the transformation. Collins identifies this type of leader as an individual who
blends extreme personal humility with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and
fearless, these leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal
glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are intensely driven
towards building a successful company that is capable of continuing its success in their absence.
In his analysis of companies, he identified that all good companies that became great had Level 5
leaders at the help when they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their
successors such that the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders
who are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5 leaders are
not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins 26). Rather, they are
willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and successors. Under egocentric leaders,
Collins noted that companies would achieve particularly strong growth but they would fall apart
immediately after the leader s exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by
finding the best people and creating a

Does Childhood Personality Affect Longevity Essay example
Psychology of Aging
Research Paper
Say you re the teacher of a fourth grade elementary class. The class consists of about forty kids,
each with different personalities and characteristics that make them extremely unique. Throughout
the school year you learn more about each kid. How they do in social situations? Who is the hard
worker, or leader? Through observation you identify the more optimistic students compared to the
pessimistic ones. Or introverted compared to extroverted. These are all different dispositional traits
that you have noticed through the students in your class. Now, what if I were to tell you that these
dispositional traits could play a huge role on your student s longevity? This is a question that

expectancy is roughly 6 10 more years (Data ranges over different countries) than males. Beginning
the experiment, one of the subject s parents was asked to sit down with the subject s teacher at that
time and together rate the subjects personality with a given 25 trait dimension. Now that all of the
participant s dispositions were categorized accordingly, the next step was to create equations that
would evaluate a person s life expectancy at different points in their lives. Although several analyses
were made during this experiment, the focal one was the hazard regression analysis. This analysis
calculated mortality rate at all different ages by closely relating it to the personality dimension of the
participant (Friedman, Tucker, Tomlinson Keasey, Schwartz amp; Wingard, 1993). After running
through all the data and placing it in the appropriate equations, astounding results were revealed. As
expected woman had a greater life expectancy then men, along with showing a mortality hazard rate
that was two thirds the rate of men. Out of the six different personalities that a subject could have
been, two tested positive to being strong predictors on influencing longevity, whether it be longer or
shorter life expectancy. These dispositions were Conscientiousness and Cheerfulness.

different, safer, and more effective way. Chris believe selective isolation from society was the
correct way to remedy his problem; therefore he cut off all ties with his familyand friends, and spent

It then acts as a party to every trade . In other words it simultaneously acts as if it had sold to the
buyer, and bought from the seller. Following registration, each party has a contractual obligation to
the clearing house. In turn the clearing house guarantees each side of the original bargain.
2.1.4 Margin
Each party to a futures contract must deposit a sum of money known as margin with the clearing
house. Margin payments act as a cushion against potential losses which the parties may suffer from
future adverse price movements.
The potential losses referred to here are those that would arise if one party to the trade defaults on
the agreement. The risk that you default on the agreement to trade may increase if the market
moves against you. For example, if you agree to buy a future and then the price of the underlying
asset, and hence the future, goes down, you face a larger potential loss and consequently may be
more likely to default. The essential feature of a future is that the money changes hand on the
delivery date, rather than on the date that the deal is agreed. However, in practice, clearing
houses require a small good faith deposit known as margin to be deposited soon after the deal is
agreed. This money is held by the clearing house. Margin will be much smaller than the value of
the underlying asset being dealt in. As well as being small, margin earns interest so that most
traders shouldn t

Indian Colonies Under British Rule
Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way
for colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising
missions that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise
of religion alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts
between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the
other. India was once part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had
a number of laws imposed on it both during colonization and globalization that have had significant
social, economic and political impact. One of the main consequences... Show more content on

Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the
wife would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to
inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager
inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new
husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage
and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were
to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late
husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a
cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the
families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring.
Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a
lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most widows as the deeply
rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly, almost as a
reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be replaced by
a far more Hindu

Literary Analysis Of Joy Harjo And Art Spiegelman
Everyone, if not most, people are familiar with the question that asks, If a tree falls in a forest
and nobody s around to hear it, does it make a sound? Artists of all types, from poets to painters,
strive to answer this question by preserving and bringing this sound to light to the best of their
abilities. Joy Harjoand Art Spiegelmanattempt to preserve a moment in time with their own work.
In Source 1, Spiegelman attempts to save a legacy by jotting down his father s memories while
their shared with him. Harjo pulls a storyout of the dust and ashes after a family song, describing
distress filled events, is passed down the generations. While there are few differences, the
similarities amongst the works are seen in multiple aspects. This analysis will compare and contrast
the context, audience, purpose, and stylistic features of the two.
No matter who reads the book, unless they re cold and heartless, it is most likely that they will be
impacted because either work of literature describes heartbreaking events. Anyone is capable of
imagining such tragedies almost as if they had lived them themselves. If one had to guess who the
author s initially wanted to reach out to, it would be hard to say. However, one wouldn t read the
book unless they sincerely cared enough to read the stories otherwise forgotten and underrated.

The Merit Of Education
Education is a process of acquisition of ideas, either skill, facts or the art of imparting judgment to
a group, society or even an individual (Grace, 1996). Most of the countries to spend a lot of their
funds on education. It is mainly experienced in the American government. The education system in
this continent is free to its citizen. To my opinion, making it free adds a lot of merit to them. They
can develop their society in different areas because they have the required skills and knowledge
that may be necessary to carry out any development activity. It is through educationthat several
developments relay on. Educated people can pool their ideas together to alleviate a problem that
may be affecting them. My argument on the merit of education will be based on what value it has
to the person being educated and the one proving funds for education.
The United States government does a lot to its citizen. The primary task is to educate its citizen. It
makes sure that everyone can access the quality education all over the American soil. The
government spends a lot of its fund to educate its citizen. It is so because education is free in
America. It ensures that no one will be segregated out due to poverty that maybe a hindrance to
education. There are merits that people leap from this education such as technology advancement,
cohesion, economic growth, employment, agricultural developments and many others. The
government does reap a lot from the education it provides to its

Self Image In Death Of Salesman Essay
Published in 1949, Arthur Miller s Death of Salesman is a post Second World War American
drama that highlights the plight of isolation and desolation experienced by the common man, as
symbolized by Willy. The play deals with the society, life s absurdity, various internal and external

twentieth century where the pressure to succeed and the financial difficulties seem insurmountable.

The best characterization of Linda is in these words: Linda, as the eternal wife and mother, the
fixed point of affection both given and received, the woman who suffers and endures, is in many
ways, the earth mother who embodies the play s ultimate moral value, love. But in the beautiful,
ironic complexity of her creation, she is also Willy s and their sons destroyer. In her love Linda
has accepted Willy s Greatness and his dream, but while in her admiration for Willy her love is
powerful and moving, in her admiration for his dreams, it is lethal. She encourages Willy s
dream, yet she will not let him leave her for the New Continent, the only realm where the dream
can be fulfilled. She wants to reconcile father and son, but she attempts this in the context of Willy
s false values. She cannot allow her sons to achieve that selfhood that involves denial of these
values (Gordon 312).
Furthermore, the Loman family lives in a society where the monetary status of residents
determines their value. It is a consumer based materialistic society which measures the worth of
people on the basis of wealth owner. Clearly, being a part of this society and finding himself a

sons doing nothing about their life. Willy tries to, in fact, he knows that he wants to live in this

about a young twelve year old boy and his baseballdream. Notice I have used a slightly large

to cheer me up over my parents divorcing, but the only thing going through my mind was the
championship game in Williamsport this Saturday . Why I have chosen to use a picture of the

Causes Of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), is the sudden unexplained death of a child less than one
year of age. SIDS usually occurs during sleep. The exact cause of SIDS is unknown. However,
there are several factors that may trigger SIDS, such as, sleeping on the stomach or side,
overheating, and exposure to tobacco smoke. Accidental suffocation such as during bed sharing
or from soft objects may also play a role. Another risk factor is being born before 39 weeks of
gestation. It is extremely difficult for any parent to lose their child. It causes a huge emotional
impact in their lives. Practicing the following points can help to avoid the risk of SIDS in babies:

I think that calling her father a Nazi is especially powerful not only because Sylvia Plath s father
was alive during some of the Nazi atrocities as a child, but also because it s an act of
appropriation, to take a nasty part of history and combine it with her poems, she wanted people
to feel uneasy about her work. The poem if read aloud is like a nursery rhyme but not at all
loving or kind, she s through with her dad because of all of the bad things he s done or because
he wasn t a good father to begin with. Barely daring to breathe or achoo makes me think that she
was afraid of him growing up, and when Plath says Marble heavy, a bag full of God, Ghastly
statue with one grey toe I think she was trying to explain as a child what she thought her father
looked like, a huge guy who looked like a god and acted like one except that he is frightening
and looks like a ghoul. Every woman adores a Racist Plath says, describing her father s brutality
and how it made him into an idol/god. Plath pushes beyond poetic tradition in her choice of
metaphors, and by pummeling the reader s senses with the garish violence of her images. The
poem has an ironically affectionate title for one that is so violent and shows such discord between

High School Dropout
On average, 1.2 million students drop out of high school every year, this breaks down to 7,000
students giving up their education everyday. The community should make an effort to helps
students stay in school and promote racial equality. Promoting racial equality will help because
studies show racism leads to an increase in dropouts. Students dropoutfor numerous reasons and the
average high schooldropout ends up less successful than a graduate. There are actions that can be
taken to prevent high school dropouts. The issue of high school dropouts continues to grow as
dropout rates continue to increase.
Some people argue that if a student wants to drop out, it is their personal choice. They choose to
hurt their educational life, therefore society as a whole should not waste their time and energy
attempting to help and prevent dropouts. Although sure enough, the people can not put an
absolute end to high school dropouts but they should help who they can not. Another reason it is
important to help dropouts is because high school dropouts do not only affect themselves, but
they affect the rest of the country as well (Williams 14). A specific region or areas drop out rates
play a role on the area s overall prosperity, for areas with lower dropout rates have less criminal
activity (Oreopoulos). By putting in effort to prevent students from dropping out an individual is
helping his or her neighbours. It is also said that high school dropouts cause a loss of national

A Beverage And Brewing Company
SABMiller plc, or SAB, is a beverage and brewing company. SAB is the second largest brewing
company; currently the company is negotiating a merger with Anheuser Busch InBev, or BUD.
BUD is the largest brewing company, and also the largest beer distributor in the United States. A
merger of such a large mass, like this one, is affecting many parts of the company. Managers of
SAB must look closely at stakeholders needs, and ensure they are doing everything they can to keep
their stockholders, customers, employees, and members of the government satisfied with their
decisions in the upcoming year. In the past years, the beerindustry has seen a plateau. Liquor, wine,
and spirit sales have surpassed those of beer, creating a need for better branding and new strategies
for large brewingcompanies. Aside from the sales of alcohol outside the beer market affecting
large breweries, smaller craft breweries have seen a rise in popularity in the United States. These
boutique beers have slowly begun to filter into bars and restaurants, hurting the sales of larger
companies like SAB. To combat these economic and social issues affecting SAB, the company
decided to begin to merge with BUD and hopefully begin to nudge out the smaller craft
companies. However, even though from a manager s point of view, a merger would boost sales
and revitalize the company, SAB may be overlooking the possible negative affects this merger
could have. From a political standpoint, this merger could raise

Classical Archaeology Research Paper
Classical Archaeology Exam Essay
Throughout history seemingly unrelated objects or ideas can be brought together and connected in
the most extraordinary ways. Many philosophers believe that everything in the world is connected
and intertwined in some way, shape, or form. These principles can be applied to many subjects
including archaeology. The scene of Ajax on the Francois krater can be linked to Polyklietos s
Doryphoros by applying them both to the fundamentals of evolution.
Both pieces are a major turning point in art for Greece. They took the best parts of their
predecessor s pieces and furthered them, like evolution. The Doryphoros completely changed the
way that the Greeks composed the body position of their sculptures. The Greeks started out creating
sculptures in the same bland form as the Egyptians, with the Korus. There are many of these
sculptures, but Polyklietos took the foundations and basic themes of the Korus and revolutionized
the body position. All he did was change the balance of the sculpture; he tilted the hips and
shoulders and changed the leg position a little. This small difference made the sculpture more
lifelike and more realistic. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Porter defines cost leadership, differentiation and focus, as the basic business strategies for an
organization to gain competitive advantages. An effective competitive strategy should be based on
the organization s goals and objectives as well as the market situation (Allen Helms, 2006). Hotel
ICON is an independent teaching hotel focusing on creative and innovative design and services. As

An organization applying differentiation strategy may focus on providing unique product or

Theme Of Prejudice In Pride And Prejudice
In contrast, Mrs. Bennet views the same subject oppositely. A lady s imagination is very rapid;
it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment, (Austen 35). She wishes
her daughter to become the matter of the society s interest, and bask all the external glory. The
marriage with Mr. Darcy tickles Mrs. Bennet s thought into associating it her daughter s life with
fame. There is no evidence of her concerning about Elizabeth s emotional assurance toward the
marriage. Oh! My sweetest Lizzy! How rich and how great you will be! What pin money, what
jewels, what carriages you will have!...Ten thousand a year! (Austen 535). In a period where a
divorce was inconceivable, he had no choice but to deal with his own mistakes. Prejudice is a risky
act that disables one s ability to distinguish the truth.
True love arises when one eliminates the pride and prejudice. Throughout the novel, it was rare to
pinpoint a couple, who married out of true love. Both males and females were in a constant
suppression by the societal standards. The rare exception is Elizabeth and Darcy. Initially, neither
of Elizabeth nor Darcy were moral. As the story progressed, they gradually dismissed one s ill
habits pride and prejudice. In case of Elizabeth, she experienced a life changing moment, going
inside out. At the ball, Elizabeth had a one dimensional judgment. Her interaction with Darcy was
highly dependent on prejudice. It became furthermore intense as George Wickham s ill rumours
supported her poor judgment skills. She was not able to be filter the information she percieved
through Wickham in a deeper level. She only relied on the external elements, such as what she
heard and saw. Darcy, on the other hand, was drowned in arrogance, and also believed in the
reliability of prejudice. At their first meeting Darcy bluntly commented on Elizabeth s
appearance.``She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me; (Austen 13). Accordingly,
Darcy s narcissism offended Elizabeth, causing her to develop a stronger feeling of hatred. It was
only when Darcy broke the distorted wall between them, and approached her with a pure letter. The
letter, composed of Darcy s honest reflection on his internal life, enlightened

Symbolism In A Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne creates a story based around real events that took place during the
seventeenth century. Goodman Brown is exposed to the real world and what may be the true
identity of the people around him. After seeing the truth, Goodman Brown does not know who he
can truly trust. Although Brown loves his wife and is strong in his faith, he begins to question
himself and everything around him. This story is written with foreshadowing, symbolism, and

Nathanial Hawthorn was born on July 4th 1804 and he died on May 19th 1864. His home life

Many of the characters have small roles that are very significant to the end of the story. Nathanial s

Culture means the beliefs, traditions, and customs of people within a society. Fundamental aspects
of a culture are faith, values, and history. People that share a culture also share its beliefs and ways

Water is described as being sacred and is referred to as a sudden rush of fortune when the pipe
bursts, showering the residents with it s contents. The poem is also related to religion, with
references to a kindly god and the blessing that it brings, and it is also based on poverty, community,
and celebration. The poem opens with a strong statement in the first line. The skin cracks like a
pod . This uses a simile to describes the hard, dirty, dusty ground cracking open from lack of
water, by comparing it to the very different image of a ripe, luscious green pea pod splitting open
to reveal its moist, juicy contents. Onomatopoeia is used in crack to emphasise the meaning and
make the descriptions seem real. The second line, There is never enough water tells the reader
that it is obviously in a place of poverty, or where the weather is always very hot. The second
stanza has a very different tone to the direct, strong opening. It is soft, and gentle and describes
the small splash of water which is so rare to the town and community within it. The metaphor in
lines 4 6 describes the water s echo in a tin mug as sounding like the voice of a kindly god , this
helps the reader to visualise small drops of water splashing into a mug, producing a sound

An article from The Chicago Reporter discussed the implications of this issue. Low wage
employers put a burden on taxpayers, who pick up the cost of health care, food and housing
assistance for their workforce (Black, 2015). Not only is this driving down the consumer demand,
but it is driving families of the workers down below the poverty line and onto the streets, while the
rich are getting richer. It is not our responsibility to pay for the workers social benefits through
our tax money. It is the responsibility of the mega corporations who refuse to pay their workers
a living wage to give these rights to their workers. Legislation such as the Cook County
Responsibility Business Act will work to force these employers to give in through a raise in the
amount they must pay their workers so that they can afford the most essential social programs. But
this is not enough. We need to raise the minimum wage of all low income workers in America if
we want to lessen the great disparity of wealth in this country. The ugly truth is, a large number of

Summary Of A Thing Like Me
A Thing Like Me
Carr begins chapter 10, A Thing Like Me, with Joseph Weizenbaum, a MIT PC researcher who
imagined a PC program that could parse and react to language. The program was called ELIZA.
ELZA could recognize speech patterns and could rephrase sentences in question form and was
displayed to have the identity of a psychotherapist. When ELIZA first appeared in the 60 s, some
people actually mistook her for human.
A Thing Like Me is probably one of the most vital chapters in this book because it comes to the
conclusion that computers are taking over our lives. Our group agrees came to the conclusion that
when Carr argues point he does it so subtle that the reader may not realize that its only his opinion.
His argument that people are becoming too dependent on technology is weaved through the
explanation of ELIZA: a computer application program that offered a mechanic clarity, replacing
language s human messiness with a clean internal computer. (202)
ELIZA software was used in helping to treat mental illnesses: patients were able to talk to a
machine instead of a psychotherapist. The outcome of this experiment showed that if the patient
couldn t tell whether he or she was talking to a computer, the computer is just a valuable as a
therapist. Carr uses this to argue and prove that people can be easily replaced by technology.
To comprehend the impacts of a PC, Weizenbaum contended that one needed to see the machine
with regards to our past technologies and

The Red Queen s character is seen as an antagonist, the opposing force to Alice s adventures.
Upon their first encounter in this story the queen explains the rules of her kingdom as like the
rules of a game of chess, as a story and game of advancement and promotion. Alice is like a pawn
piece and can move up the board in such a way that she too can become the queen, like as in
chess the queen can move effortlessly in whatever manner she likes. The queen perturbs Alice
into an endless run with Alice having no real direction of where she is heading and meeting
other strange characters along the way which develops her idea of the impossible being possible.
Elizabeth Pearce, a curator and writer for MONA states; the Red Queen exhibition asks us to
consider whether doing something without a seeming purpose is the product of us, or whether it
actually contributes to changing us. (The Red Queen arrives at MONA 2013) This exhibition,
takes us into the realms of the science behind the theme. The evolutionary concept that in the

A parallel story of Alice put forth this idea when the Red Queen tells Alice: Now, here, you see, it
takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. ( The Red Queen Hypotheses n.d.)

Symbolism In The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams
Tennessee Williams had a rough past that influenced him to write plays about the 1930s. Williams
s life was very successful in his writing making him known to many. His experiences in the 1930s
affected his work. Williams s homosexaulity made him to be seen as an outcast in American society.
Tennessee Williams utilizes symbolism to express his themes throughout The Glass Menagerie.
There are many events in Tennessee Williamss early life that is similar to the details in The Glass
Menagerie. Williams had a bad relationship with his father, who was clinically alcoholic
(Debusscher 1). Williams s dysfunctional family plays a role towards his homosexuality
(Debusscher 4). A research group discovered that children who have alcoholic parents have a
problem with their sexual identity (Debusscher 4). Alcoholism not only affects the victim but the
whole family as well (Debusscher 2). He uses fantasy to survive chaos and pain to escape the
truth (Debusscher 3). In The Glass Menagerie Williams draws attention to Mr. Wingfield s
alcoholism when Amanda fears that Tom might become a drinker (Debusscher 3). Mr. Wingfield
has abandoned the family many years ago (Holditch 2). Though Tennessee Williams s background
affects his plays, the time period in America also plays a part in his writings. The setting of The
Glass Menagerie is the 1930s, during the Great Depression. In the pre World War 2 era, Amanda
Wingfield was in a culture that confuses appearance with substance (Beattie 4). Tom

Essay On Psychiatrists
When you hear about psychiatrists, you might have little idea of exactly who they are. What is a

Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper
Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through
the South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man
named Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Scott s struggle for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in
American history and a worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African
descent which was an extremely difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott
decision made by the supreme court in March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by
empowering the South, contributing to the secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott
was forced to travel around with his owner, a United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr.
Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a
state, its state constitution declared it a free state (Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was
still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson soon requested a transfer from Fort
Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling was
located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul, Minnesota where slavery
had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). As Dr. Emerson continued to be dissatisfied with
many of the forts he traveled without his slaves for a while and met his wife

transportation hub for busses, trains, cars and planes. Surrounding this hub there will be an
organized cluster of 24 60 story skyscrapers. These glass and steel skyscrapers are cross shaped.
Each individual skyscraper is to be set within a large rectangular green space. The skyscrapers
house the brain of the city. The city is beautifully geometric and symmetrical. Placing the
skyscrapers in the city center reinforces the emphasis on capital as a means of creating a
successful city. Because of the shape and mass of each skyscraper, they have more usable space
than an entire neighborhood but also relieves density and congestion because of the organization
(Frampton, 46).
Outside these skyscraper spaces will be a redent set back apartment blocks. These blocks are the
cells of the system. The social structure of the city can be seen in the distinctions in the housing.
The housing closest to the city center is larger and lusher. And the housing further from the city is
smaller and designed for poorer people (Frampton 50). Therefore, upward mobility in the social
system

Christian Spiritual Renewal
For the past 300 years, the United States, particularly the Lutheran Churches has a long history of
sending missionaries to all over the world. The missionary movement is the fruit of pietism among
Lutherans in The United States. This movement transformed many communities through out the
world, resulting mass conversions in Asia, Africa and Latin America. As times have changed, there
has been a huge paradigm shift in mission and Evangelism in modern times among Lutherans here
in the United States. There is growing absence of spiritualness among Christians and non Christians
alike. It is ironic that many Christian are moving away from Christian spirituality. However, there
is eagerness to not only be connected with one another but to also connect with life in solar system
and in the Universe. Every person believes in something and therefore labels that as spirituality,
which is often practiced in various ways.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Student Behaviors And The Classroom...
Educators have the opportunity to make a great impact on students, however with this opportunity
comes many challenges in terms of students behaviours and the classroom environment. The DECD
(Department for Education and Child Development) states that children and students with a
disability or special needs must be given the same opportunities for educationas other children and
students. It is therefore important, that educators understand the reasons behind students
behaviours, both positive and negative, to be able to create a positive, safe and rigorous learning
environment (Efrati‐Virtzer Margalit, 2009). According to Beaman, Wheldall Kemp (2007), the
majority of students with emotional and behavioural difficulties are taught in mainstream
classrooms highlighting the significance of effective classroom behaviour management. Whilst a
significant minority of a class may present with challenging or disruptive behaviours, it still impacts
teachers ability to create an effective learning environment (Beaman, Wheldall Kemp, 2007).
According to a recent report by the South Australian parliament, teachers have a lack of knowledge
regarding challenging student behaviours (Parliament of South Australia, 2010). Teachers also
have a greater lack of knowledge regarding students who also have a disability (e.g. ADHD or
Autism) which often leads to these children becoming withdrawn, disengaged, socially isolated
from their peers or they do not participate in class (Parliament

Branched Chain Amino Acid As A Supplement For Long...
Branched Chain Amino Acid as a Supplement for Long Duration Exercise
Introduction
Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are composed of three essential amino acids including
leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are unique in that they are predominantly metabolized outside
of the liver in the skeletal muscle. BCAAs make up 35 40% of the amino acid pool in the body and
exist in high concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue (Shimomura et al, 2006). While the
supplemental dosage is dependent upon on the type of exercise,, body composition, and dietary
intake, a standard dosage of the combination of BCAAs is 20g, of leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
Other ratio combinations are available as well as individual supplement products of leucine and
isoleucine. BCAA supplementation is often taken before, during, and after exercise. It has been
observed that BCAAs potentiate the effects of exercise by their anabolic processes on protein
metabolism by increasing the rate of muscle protein synthesis and decreasing the rate of muscle
protein breakdown (Karlsson et al., 2004). Moreover, it has been theorized that BCAAs may
improve performance, reduce muscle fatigue, and feelings of muscle soreness.
Review of Literature
Various studies have demonstrated that BCAAs promote activation of protein synthesis, reduced
muscle degradation, and reduce perceived feelings of muscle fatigue. All human studies reviewed
used randomized, double blind, within subjects cross over design conducted

Reston Research Paper
Reston is a census designated place located in Northern Virginia s Fairfax County, about 20
miles north of Washington D.C. Containing four artificial lakes (among which Lake Anne and
Lake Thoreau are the most famous), the town encompasses a total area of 17.4 square miles.
According to the 2010 census, Reston s population is 56,407 residents. Founded in 1964,
modern Reston is internationally known as the first planned residential community. Reston s
history began in 1649, when King Charles II of England assigned vast areas of land in Northern
Virginia to seven of his supporters. During the 18th century, Lord Fairfax the descendant of the
original land owners decided to auction it off for $5 per acre. In 1886, the property which later
became Reston was bought by William Dunn and Dr. Carl Wiehle. For several years, Dr. Wiehle
drafted plans for what he imagined to become a Utopian new city. In 1897, he even incorporated a
town with his own name. Although Wiehle died soon after the construction of first buildings and
the Utopian project was abandoned, some 80 years later his ideas did catch... Show more content on

Advertising the New Deal
The Great Depression brought on a lot of hardships for the American people. President Hoover
believed that it was best to not get involved and everything would work itself out. This angered
the American people, and, in 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected into office to fix the
problem. With this great task, he wanted to keep the public informed and began to have fireside
chats in which he would explain the problem at hand and possible solutions to the problem that
became known as the New Deal. The New Deal involved reforms for banking, business, creating
jobs, famers, homeowners, and the stock market.

Cursive Letters
Catholic schools tend to emphasize teaching cursive to their students for its historical roots and its
fluidity. As a result, in third grade, my teachers spent weeks teaching my peers and I to write in
cursive. Today I write in script properly, if not often, unlike many of my classmates from public
schools. Although I rarely think of this superfluous skill as an asset, it comes in handy when I need
to write under a time restraint. My cursiveletters are quick and slanted; ink flowing in fast loops
and lines as I hurry to get out my message, the side of my hand never leaving the page in my
rush. I feel personally responsible for the uncorking of hundreds of bottles of red wine and the
undue exhalation of gallons of CO2 as my teachers struggle... Show more content on

It will attempt to alleviate the sufferings and better the lives of thousands, however, the emphasis
of my efforts will not be on the quantity, but on the lives themselves. My relentless drive and
open mindedness will cause great change in the world. I want to break down negative, close
minded prejudices and make way for newer, purer methods. Everyone in the world should
choose happiness over hate, every time, and I will work all my life to persuade or allow people
to do so, although I realize this is an implausible standard to always uphold. But impossibility is
no excuse not to work for something. Working hard to complete an impossible goal must yield
some positive effects for today s people, as well as a foundation for later generations to build on.
The problems I am most passionate about solving include the rapidly deteriorating environment,
the inequality and hatred of women and certain races or religions in parts the world, and the lack
of rights and choices for citizens living under dictatorial governments. Only with relentless work
can anything be done to alleviate these ills, and I am willing to dedicate my life to any of these
purposes. Most people are not even aware of the severity of many of these problems, and among
those who do realize the extent of these issues, many do not or do not know how to make a
difference. Although I do not strictly adhere to all of the values instilled in me by my Catholic
education, the most important principles I learned from Catholicism are the same ones that are so
often overlooked by society: The crucialness of toleration, duty to our fellow human beings, and
responsibility for the Earth we all share. I seek any solution for these issues; they necessitate
creative problem solving and intensive thought. I am willing to take charge of my ideas and
implement them, directing others to do so as well if possible, or

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Network...
Abstract
In recent times to keep up the network security is a foremost and the network is hacked by the
unofficial persons. There are various strategies to extend the safety similar to encryption and

Intrusion detection system. The Intrusion detection is the problem of identifying unauthorized use,
misuse and abuse of computer systems. Outside attackers are not only the problem, the threat of

the Intrusion detection system to change into unstable and crash. [3].
B.Host based System
A host based Intrusion detection system monitors activities associated with a particular host [6] and
aimed at collecting information about activity on a host system or within an individual computer
system. In host based Intrusion detection system separate sensors would be needed for an
individual computer system. Sensor monitors the event takes place on the system. Sensors collect
the data from system logs, logs generated by operating system processes, application activity, file

Unforgiven High Noon Essay
Unforgiven, High Noon High noon, an American Western movie debuted in 1952. The movie
has been awarded an Oscar Award in the best pictures category. The theme of the movie is on
how the western side of United States was captured. The setting of the movie portrays a mixture
of good and bad people in a settlement where they have different perspectives of life. The bad
people use inhuman ways to achieve their goals while good people, especially those living in the
town are law abiding citizens, who take care of each other. The latter always use honest means in
achieving their goals. The aim of this essay is to elaborate on different questions that are frequently
asked regarding the movie. Though there are different characters in the filmthat are portrayed as

between speaker 1 and speaker 2 after discovering a killed body portrays the true epitome of

Analyzing The Production Of Grapes
Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors,
including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle,
and harvest.
Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage.
Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet winewith
high alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the
climate is cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen.
Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don t do well in rich, organic soils. If wines receive a
large amount of nutrients, they go vegetative which is when grape ... Show more content on

Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of
grapevines. This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and ruin every vein on the property. It
has had a huge impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting.
Phylloxera kills European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one
must graft a European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive
and thrive.
The 5 S s are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit
are essential to understand.
Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to
have a clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and
acidity. Darker shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a
red wine, less color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber
outer ring that is present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older.
Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma.
Moreover when you swirl, legs and tears appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the
drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while

  • 4. Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In his analysis of companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins identifies the role of a Level 5 leader as instrumental in the transformation. Collins identifies this type of leader as an individual who blends extreme personal humility with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and fearless, these leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are intensely driven towards building a successful company that is capable of continuing its success in their absence. In his analysis of companies, he identified that all good companies that became great had Level 5 leaders at the help when they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their successors such that the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders who are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5 leaders are not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins 26). Rather, they are willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and successors. Under egocentric leaders, Collins noted that companies would achieve particularly strong growth but they would fall apart immediately after the leader s exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by finding the best people and creating a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beginning the experiment, one of the subject s parents was asked to sit down with the subject s teacher at that time and together rate the subjects personality with a given 25 trait dimension. Now that all of the participant s dispositions were categorized accordingly, the next step was to create equations that would evaluate a person s life expectancy at different points in their lives. Although several analyses were made during this experiment, the focal one was the hazard regression analysis. This analysis calculated mortality rate at all different ages by closely relating it to the personality dimension of the participant (Friedman, Tucker, Tomlinson Keasey, Schwartz amp; Wingard, 1993). After running through all the data and placing it in the appropriate equations, astounding results were revealed. As expected woman had a greater life expectancy then men, along with showing a mortality hazard rate that was two thirds the rate of men. Out of the six different personalities that a subject could have been, two tested positive to being strong predictors on influencing longevity, whether it be longer or shorter life expectancy. In other words it simultaneously acts as if it had sold to the buyer, and bought from the seller. Following registration, each party has a contractual obligation to the clearing house. In turn the clearing house guarantees each side of the original bargain. 2.1.4 Margin Each party to a futures contract must deposit a sum of money known as margin with the clearing house. Margin payments act as a cushion against potential losses which the parties may suffer from future adverse price movements. The potential losses referred to here are those that would arise if one party to the trade defaults on the agreement. The risk that you default on the agreement to trade may increase if the market moves against you. For example, if you agree to buy a future and then the price of the underlying asset, and hence the future, goes down, you face a larger potential loss and consequently may be more likely to default. The essential feature of a future is that the money changes hand on the delivery date, rather than on the date that the deal is agreed. However, in practice, clearing houses require a small good faith deposit known as margin to be deposited soon after the deal is agreed. This money is held by the clearing house. Before starting this diet, Carpenter ate everything in sight. Enjoying all the foods she knew she wouldn t eat in a long time. By the end of the diet, Carpenter would kill for a bag of chips. The diet showed Carpenter how hard it can be to grow all of your food. With every rabbit she ate and every crop that failed, Carpenter realized she would have less food to eat. Like Gollum s ring, Carpenter cared for her garden with importance. The biggest hurdle with her diet was carbs. Carpenter had potatoes, but due to pest the plant failed to produce. She improvised by turning dried decorative corn into cornmeal. This shows the desperate creativity people can have when starving. Starvation also makes people preform bold tasks. An example of Carpenter s bold behavior came when she reached over a neighbor s fence to sell bees. The diet adventure was not always bad. At times there were also conflicts between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the wife would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . An article from The Chicago Reporter discussed the implications of this issue. Low wage employers put a burden on taxpayers, who pick up the cost of health care, food and housing assistance for their workforce (Black, 2015). Not only is this driving down the consumer demand, but it is driving families of the workers down below the poverty line and onto the streets, while the rich are getting richer. It is not our responsibility to pay for the workers social benefits through our tax money. It is the responsibility of the mega corporations who refuse to pay their workers a living wage to give these rights to their workers. Legislation such as the Cook County Responsibility Business Act will work to force these employers to give in through a raise in the amount they must pay their workers so that they can afford the most essential social programs. But this is not enough. We need to raise the minimum wage of all low income workers in America if we want to lessen the great disparity of wealth in this country. The ugly truth is, a large number of these corporations choose increasing their profits over the conditions of their employees as long as the government turns a blind eye to the ... • 34. Summary Of A Thing Like Me A Thing Like Me Carr begins chapter 10, A Thing Like Me, with Joseph Weizenbaum, a MIT PC researcher who imagined a PC program that could parse and react to language. The program was called ELIZA. ELZA could recognize speech patterns and could rephrase sentences in question form and was displayed to have the identity of a psychotherapist. When ELIZA first appeared in the 60 s, some people actually mistook her for human. A Thing Like Me is probably one of the most vital chapters in this book because it comes to the conclusion that computers are taking over our lives. Our group agrees came to the conclusion that when Carr argues point he does it so subtle that the reader may not realize that its only his opinion. His argument that people are becoming too dependent on technology is weaved through the explanation of ELIZA: a computer application program that offered a mechanic clarity, replacing language s human messiness with a clean internal computer. (202) ELIZA software was used in helping to treat mental illnesses: patients were able to talk to a machine instead of a psychotherapist. The outcome of this experiment showed that if the patient couldn t tell whether he or she was talking to a computer, the computer is just a valuable as a therapist. Carr uses this to argue and prove that people can be easily replaced by technology. To comprehend the impacts of a PC, Weizenbaum contended that one needed to see the machine with regards to our past technologies and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Red Queen s character is seen as an antagonist, the opposing force to Alice s adventures. Upon their first encounter in this story the queen explains the rules of her kingdom as like the rules of a game of chess, as a story and game of advancement and promotion. Alice is like a pawn piece and can move up the board in such a way that she too can become the queen, like as in chess the queen can move effortlessly in whatever manner she likes. The queen perturbs Alice into an endless run with Alice having no real direction of where she is heading and meeting other strange characters along the way which develops her idea of the impossible being possible. Williams s life was very successful in his writing making him known to many. His experiences in the 1930s affected his work. Williams s homosexaulity made him to be seen as an outcast in American society. Tennessee Williams utilizes symbolism to express his themes throughout The Glass Menagerie. There are many events in Tennessee Williamss early life that is similar to the details in The Glass Menagerie. Williams had a bad relationship with his father, who was clinically alcoholic (Debusscher 1). Williams s dysfunctional family plays a role towards his homosexuality (Debusscher 4). A research group discovered that children who have alcoholic parents have a problem with their sexual identity (Debusscher 4). Alcoholism not only affects the victim but the whole family as well (Debusscher 2). He uses fantasy to survive chaos and pain to escape the truth (Debusscher 3). In The Glass Menagerie Williams draws attention to Mr. Wingfield s alcoholism when Amanda fears that Tom might become a drinker (Debusscher 3). Mr. Wingfield has abandoned the family many years ago (Holditch 2). Though Tennessee Williams s background affects his plays, the time period in America also plays a part in his writings. • 38. Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through the South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man named Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Scott s struggle for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in American history and a worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African descent which was an extremely difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott decision made by the supreme court in March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by empowering the South, contributing to the secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott was forced to travel around with his owner, a United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr. Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a state, its state constitution declared it a free state (Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson soon requested a transfer from Fort Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling was located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul, Minnesota where slavery had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). History of City Planning Prompt 1: Center and Region I: Compare the urban plans and philosophies of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. What are the spatial, social and economic factors of each plan? Wright and Le Corbusier seem predestined for comparison. Their ideal cities confront each other as two opposing variations on the same utopian theme (Fishman, 163). Charles Г‰douard Jeanneret Gris, more commonly known as Le Corbusier (October 6, 1887 August 27, 1965), was a Swiss French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, and writer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his 1929 book, The City of To morrow and its Planning, he even refers to changing the city as surgery (Le Corbusier 265). His first comprehensive city plan was La Ville Contemporaine (the Contemporary City) a project to house three million inhabitants designed in 1922. This was Le Corbusier s first attempt to reconcile man, nature and machine (Fishman, 189). The city starts at the center with a transportation hub for busses, trains, cars and planes. Surrounding this hub there will be an organized cluster of 24 60 story skyscrapers. These glass and steel skyscrapers are cross shaped. Each individual skyscraper is to be set within a large rectangular green space. The skyscrapers house the brain of the city. The city is beautifully geometric and symmetrical. Placing the skyscrapers in the city center reinforces the emphasis on capital as a means of creating a successful city. Because of the shape and mass of each skyscraper, they have more usable space than an entire neighborhood but also relieves density and congestion because of the organization (Frampton, 46). Outside these skyscraper spaces will be a redent set back apartment blocks. These blocks are the cells of the system. The social structure of the city can be seen in the distinctions in the housing. The housing closest to the city center is larger and lusher. And the housing further from the city is smaller and designed for poorer people (Frampton 50). Therefore, upward mobility in the social system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The Importance Of Student Behaviors And The Classroom... Educators have the opportunity to make a great impact on students, however with this opportunity comes many challenges in terms of students behaviours and the classroom environment. The DECD (Department for Education and Child Development) states that children and students with a disability or special needs must be given the same opportunities for educationas other children and students. It is therefore important, that educators understand the reasons behind students behaviours, both positive and negative, to be able to create a positive, safe and rigorous learning environment (Efrati‐Virtzer Margalit, 2009). According to Beaman, Wheldall Kemp (2007), the majority of students with emotional and behavioural difficulties are taught in mainstream classrooms highlighting the significance of effective classroom behaviour management. Whilst a significant minority of a class may present with challenging or disruptive behaviours, it still impacts teachers ability to create an effective learning environment (Beaman, Wheldall Kemp, 2007). According to a recent report by the South Australian parliament, teachers have a lack of knowledge regarding challenging student behaviours (Parliament of South Australia, 2010). Teachers also have a greater lack of knowledge regarding students who also have a disability (e.g. ADHD or Autism) which often leads to these children becoming withdrawn, disengaged, socially isolated from their peers or they do not participate in class (Parliament ... Branched Chain Amino Acid as a Supplement for Long Duration Exercise Introduction Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are composed of three essential amino acids including leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are unique in that they are predominantly metabolized outside of the liver in the skeletal muscle. BCAAs make up 35 40% of the amino acid pool in the body and exist in high concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue (Shimomura et al, 2006). While the supplemental dosage is dependent upon on the type of exercise,, body composition, and dietary intake, a standard dosage of the combination of BCAAs is 20g, of leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Other ratio combinations are available as well as individual supplement products of leucine and isoleucine. BCAA supplementation is often taken before, during, and after exercise. It has been observed that BCAAs potentiate the effects of exercise by their anabolic processes on protein metabolism by increasing the rate of muscle protein synthesis and decreasing the rate of muscle protein breakdown (Karlsson et al., 2004). Moreover, it has been theorized that BCAAs may improve performance, reduce muscle fatigue, and feelings of muscle soreness. Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage. Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet winewith high alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat.
