screams finally filtered through the headphones that he was using and that he emerged to find Rafaela

him to Iida castle with a message for his son (Lord Akiyama). After delivering the message about the
disloyal ronins who had harassed him, Taro became Akiyama s messenger and befriended Yoshitoki, a
young samurai. At age 15, he was sent with Yoshitoki to carry a message to Tsutsujigasaki Castle. On
the way, they escaped from two bandits disguised as monks. A strange old man invited them into his
hut and predicted that neither Lord Oda Nobunaga nor Lord Takeda Shingen would rule Japan. On
their return from the castle, Yoshitoki and Taro found the hut of the strange man empty and decided
that the man had been a ghost. Lord Akiyama gave Taro back his family name Murakami and
presented him with a sword. Everyone anticipated a huge battle from which either Lord Takeda
Shingen or Oda Nobunaga would emerge as ruler of Japan. When Murakami was 18, Lord Takeda
decided to go to war and Murakami was disappointed to find himself appointed aide to the officer in

compassion by beating him, but not killing him. Murakami won a sword fight with a ronin bandit

Using The Credit Line Tied Down T Bill Rate
Answer 1.
I plan to use the credit line tied to the 3months T bill rate. In loanable funds market which borrowers
(my firm) demand funds and lenders supply them. The price in this market is interest rate.
Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase
Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in the
market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s spending
potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable funds market.
So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates. The following
exhibit 1a shows when demand is weak (D1) and the real interest rate low ... Show more content on

Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium
Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest
rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary
premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there
is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now
becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future
financing cost if I use the credit line.
Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the
interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5%
and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of
inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the other
hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason why the
inflation will help either my firm or lenders.

According to the text book the law of demand states that there is an inverse relationship between the
price of a good or service and the quantity of it that consumers are willing to purchase . That being
said, in general the demand curve will be in a downward slope.

The penalty given to the offender is imprisonment. According to Fuller s case in Austlii, the court

Essay On American Refugees
The United States has been a refuge for many people from other countries since the early 1900 s.
Many Americans do not know the difference between a refugee, an asylum seeker, and an immigrant.
Over the years, different associations, agencies, official acts and laws have come into existence to
limit who can be awarded the title of refugee. Rules and regulations have become the most confusing
part of coming to the United States if a person is seeking refuge. This paper will explore the history of
the American refugee and the laws, regulations, and associations that aide or hinder their status.
What is the Difference between a Refugee, and Asylum Seeker, and an Immigrant?
In the United States, a refugee is defined as a person that is outside of the United States and is seeking
refuge from persecution based on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, social group or political
opinion. Refugees can be excluded from being awarded refugee status for polygamy, health related
issues, moral and criminal and security grounds. They could also be excluded for misrepresentation of
facts on visa applications, smuggling and previous deportations. A person seeking asylum, is a person

Paul Bogard s Argument For The Preservation Of Darkness
In his commentary, Paul Bogard builds an argument for the preservation of natural darkness. He
strongly believes people are overusing artificial luminescence at night, and should reduce their usage
to preserve darkness. To substantiate his opinion, Bogard utilizes factual evidence and appeal to
emotion.
Bogard employs factual evidence as a means of improving his argument. In his second paragraph,
Bogard utilizes evidence provided by the WHO in saying the night shift is a probable human
carcinogen. . . Sleep disorders have been linked to diabetes, obesity, depression. . . one main cause of
short sleep is long light . Bogard emphasizes that as the use of artificial lighting at night increases,

He begins by reminiscing about his childhood spent at a lake, nostalgically speaking of the scenes he
saw in the sky. Later, he says Even the northern lake where I was lucky enough to spend my summers
as seen its darkness diminish . Bogard uses his own past as a means of accessing the reader s past,
forcing him or her to think about how much they value their childhood. By stating how even his
childhood memories are being blown away by artificial lighting, Bogard instills fear that their
memories will face the same fate in the reader. As a result of this fear, the reader is left only to agree
with Bogard. He then goes on to state night s darkness can provide solitude, quiet and stillness. . . In a
world awash with electric light . . . how would Van Gogh have given the world his Starry Night ? As
humans, peace and solitude is an inherent part of who we are; no matter how mush of a social
butterfly we are, quiet is something we all crave. Within this peacefulness, we can get away from the
bustle of life and even find inspiration in darkness much like Van Gogh did. To lose this independence
and quiet would be a shocking blow to everyone, and the reader is convinced by Bogard. Through his
or her own emotions and experiences, the reader is compelled to agree with

The Advantages of Using Linux
Android is an operating system that was built upon the very popular Linux kernel. Its main focus has
always been that of providing one of the best options for an operating system that will work for
touchscreen devices. Those devices typically include various smart phones as well as what has been a
newer craze as of late, tablets. Android was originally a self operated company, however it was
eventually bought out by Google, who was its greatest financial support. Linux itself is a very old
operating system that was built on the platform of being free for everyone, as well as being open

functionalities that the particular user may need. The popularity of Linux exploded and with that and
its ability for customization it has become of the most secure operating systems there is. This provided
an obvious choice for it to become the core of the Android system, thus providing tremendous security
for anyone that uses an Android operated device. The main features that were chosen from the Linux
kernel to become assets in the Android operating system were as follows; user based permission, the
ability to isolate processes, the ability to remove certain parts of the kernel that could have the
potential to be insecure, and a very secure inter processing structure for communication among
various parts of the operating system. Without a doubt, the greatest advantage of the use of the

ISPs, who are interested in acquiring a thorough understanding of
P2P overlays and tra±c. Because P2P ¯le sharing systems can generate vast quantities of tra±c,
networking engineers, who dimension the network and introduce content distribution devices such as

been recent work in analyzing the ¯le sharing workload in KaZaA [8] and [18], to our knowledge we
are the ¯rst to undertake a comprehensive study of a hierarchical unstructured overlay for a P2P

The paper focuses on the KaZaA overlay network and index management. It ad dresses neither KaZaA
s downloading protocol (for example, KaZaA s parallel down loading and request queuing) nor its
incentive scheme for encouraging uploading. The paper is complementary to [8] and [18], which focus
on KaZaA ¯le sharing tra±c. It is also complementary to a recent measurement study on pollution in
P2P ¯le sharing systems [19].
This paper is organized as follows. Section 2 provides an overview of KaZaA.

Operation and War Sustainment

Zayed- Man Who Built A Nation
As a matter of fact, I have chosen a book titled Zayed Man Who Built A Nation . because I am
attracted by its title. The book that includes 734 pages, covered all details about the life of late Sheikh
Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I always influenced by the president of Emirates Arab behavior the
founding father of the EAU, and those who have escorted him throughout his long life. The book
comprises the challenges that Sheikh Zayed confronted since 1971 until his death in 2004. My interest
is to illustrate the exclusive accomplishments of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan a Bedouin who
lived in the desert and a leader of his people and for the good of the world. The book of Zayed: Man
Who Built a Nation was written by Graeme H. Wilson. (2013).
In the first place, the book mentioned that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was born in 1912 on
the poor isolated and largely ignored Trucial Coast. He was the youngest of the four sons, his father.
As a member of the ruling class, his childhood could be considered to be relatively privileged, but it
was also one scarred by the difficulties of the era. The tragic death of his father, regional economic
collapse and difficult political conditions meant that it was a hard, uncertain life. Sheikh Zayed
emerged through this with a reputation as a leader of note. While his brother, Sheikh Shakhbout, was

Terrorism In Australia Essay
Terrorism has disreputably arisen as a 21st century problem, wreaking havoc anywhere at any given
time with no easy solution to combat it. The term terrorism is notoriously controversial as various
factors can encompass such an act. Hence it has never been successfully defined by the international
community. Despite this, the threat of terrorism is imminent and many nations recognise the need to
prevent acts of terrorism. Australia in particular has enacted laws to combat this threat, often in great
haste and number. However due to the severity of these laws, human rights have been infringed, in
particular the right to a fair trial, the right to freedom from arbitrary detention and arrest and the right
to privacy. Hence the question arises ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ASIO s powers to detain and question non suspects concern The Commission as there aren t adequate
safeguards against abuse and mistakes. The issue of preventative detention and control orders
particularly infringe upon the basic human rights and freedoms including the right to a fair trial, the
rights to liberty, privacy, freedom of association, freedom of expression, freedom of movement and the
right to freedom from arbitrary detention and arrest. The case Minister for Immigration and
Citizenship v. Haneef (2007) FCAFC 203 (21 December 2007) has highlighted the injustices that can
result if counter terrorism measures do not comply with fundamental human rights standards. On 2
July 2007, the Australian Federal Police arrested Dr Mohamed Haneef who was working as a doctor in
Queensland. His arrest followed the attempted terrorist car bombings at Glasgow International Airport
on 30 June 2007. Dr Haneef was detained and questioned without charge for 12 days under the
provision for dead time. However the case was later dropped due to a lack of evidence. Clearly these
laws held no regard for Dr Haneef s right to a fair trial, right to freedom of association and expression
and freedom from arbitrary detention and arrest. Furthermore, the anti terrorism harmed his reputation
as a result of him being wrongly

Norma Rae Essay
Norma Rae
In the film Norma Rae, the textile workers were unsatisfied with many aspects of their Capitalistic
work environment. They fought to form a union so that they could change the undesirable
characteristics to better meet their needs. Political, environmental and cultural processes all played a
part in the workers struggle to form an effective union. Unlike the film, Matewan, in which the coal
miners worked under feudal control, the employees of the O.P. Henley Mill worked amidst a
Capitalistic Economy. The key difference between the two, is that the inhabitants of the town of
Matewan did not have other choices of employment and the characters in Norma Rae had the ability to
go into the free labor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Andrew West writes, Capitalism is the progressive ideal, because it is the only social system that
leaves man free to pursue and achieve his own happiness. The workers in Norma Rae were pursuing
happiness in their jobs. They had already chosen to work at the mill, but now were fighting to create a
more suitable environment. The workers wanted longer breaks, better pay, and better physical working
conditions. The working conditions at the O.P Henley Mill were very undesirable. In the beginning of
the film the viewer witnesses and incident in which Norma Rae s mother temporarily looses her
hearing. An administrative man assures her not to worry about it, It happens all the time, he replied.
Norma Rae says, Come on Mama, they don t care anything about you. The health of the worker is
consistently shown to be of little importance to the employer. An elderly woman explained, They say
you have to keep on your feet, unless you have a note from your doctor. We wouldn t say we were sick
if we weren t. Her statement is reinforced later in the movie when Norma Rae s father feels his arm go
numb. He asks to take a break, but they insist that he can keep working for another ten or fifteen
minutes. He has a heart attack and dies face down in a pile of linen. The significance of this is not that
the company caused his heart attack, but that they did not have consideration for him. They did not
listen to his complaints and needs,

Victimless Crimes
Victimless crime is defined as illegal behavior in which people willingly engage and in which there
are no unwilling victims. Victimless crimes can be viewed as prostitution, illegal drug use, or illegal
gambling. These are considered crimes because they can harm your body, or life in some way, and
because you willingly do them. There are many other things in our lives that we can do such as
smoking cigarettes, or drinking that can harm our lives and body in some way but are legal. In my
opinion these things are legal, because of the fight put up for them in the past, and for the economy.
Alcohol and cigarettes have taxes on them, so the economy benefits from people buying and using
those. Alcohol used to be illegal during the alcohol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that I believe that the system will be able to sort the women who do it for themselves, and the
women who do it because they have to and will eventually save many more women from those people
who force them out on the streets because they will be able to find those people and punish them
instead of punishing the victim. I believe that there are some victimless crimes that if they were
actually legalized would benefit not only people, but our economy. I believe that drug use, such as the
use of marijuana and the drug marijuana should be legalized. I believe this, because no one is forced
to grow it, sell it, or smoke it. They do it because they want to. Yes, it causes bodily damage, but so
does cigarettes and alcohol. The legalization of this drug would benefit the economy and will allow
police to go after the drugs that are actually taking people s lives, instead of the one that really isn t
doing any more harm than alcohol and cigarettes do. I believe that prostitution should never be
legalized. Most prostitution is going on because of a man who wants money, and has decided that he
will take women from their homes and families and is forcing them to do things that they shouldn t, so
they can make some good money out of it. Of course this happens to men as well, but you mostly only
see woman selling themselves and I believe that there should be more help out there for those women

Battle of Guadalcanal
Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the
Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of
as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war
in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War
II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in
an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed
morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most
importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had
been trying to utilize.
Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were
heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt
and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi
Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a
Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S.
Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers
were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely

Typical Australian
The Australian Identity I am here today to discuss our Australian Identity. How do you imagine a
typical Australian? Maybe you see a blonde haired, blue eyed surfing babe? Or a bushman who drinks
Bushels tea and four X beers while munching on some snags cooked on the BBQ? Or perhaps you see
someone like Steve Irwin, our iconic crocodile hunter. Or do you picture the movie Crocodile
Dundee? Australians are stereotyped and our typical Australian is usually imagined to be male. (Click)

reader attitudes, values and beliefs of the true Australian spirit and mateship. Throughout the story, the
mood is exciting and fast paced with tense anticipation, leading up to the exciting climatic victory. In
this poem, women and children are marginalised. The bushman riders are men and during those times
the women and children stayed at home while the men worked during the day. The Man from Snowy
River is a ballad which reinforces the typical Australian Identity, as the rough and tough man who is
willing to take risks and challenges. The hero in this poem is brave, resourceful and thrill seeking,
displaying the qualities that Russell Ward describes as being part of the mythical Australian Identity.

Lululemon Analysis
Lululemon was founded by Chop Wilson in Vancouver, Canada in 1998. Lululemon itself is described
as a yoga inspired athletic apparel that is both for men and women. The company has apparel for yoga,
training, running and fashion. It has shaped the way people dress to go workout. Society finds
themselves purchasing consumer products for no reason. Lululemon is recognized for its high quality
and pricy products. They buy these things that fill a void they have inside of them. But in the end they
will keep wanting more. Consumers today have depended on money and how consumption brings
negative outcome behind materialism. In the essay Two Cheers for Materialism by James B. Twitchell,
he defines us American as materialists and how we are a nation of consumers. While Lululemon is a
popular consumer choice, many aspects influence the consumption of such a product such as when
Lululemon first started out, When I first came across the brand and the expatiations it has for
consumers.
When Lululemon first started out, it was only for women. Now they expanded their store and brought
in a men s section and a youth section for just girls. When you walk into Lululemon you walk into a
store that has a bunch of athletic wear. There is a Men s side and Women s side. You walk into an
atmospheric friendly place, the employees are very nice and helpful. Lululemon does not advertise

Informative Speech On Marilyn Manson
When most people hear the name Marilyn Manson they think of a deranged guy devoted to demonic
ways of music. In fact, people tend to forget that Marilyn Manson is just a stage name. Marilyn
Manson was born Brian Hugh Warner on January 5th, 1969. Knowing who Brian is today you would
ve never thought that he had a pretty normal childhood. Normal not in the sense that he had a regular
civilian life, but by having two loving parents and a great education. The beginning of Brian s life
would have you fooled that he would have never become who he is today. Brian s mother, Barb
Warner, was very over protective. So much so that she would evil eye neighbors that dared looked at

Mark Twain Influences
Many American Authors have affected the way we think and write today. Among those many is Mark
Twain. Mark Twain is important to American Literature because of his works and how he portrays the
American experience. His most famous books, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and its partner the
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, are some of the most prominent in the world of American literature.
The aftermath of the horrendous Civil War sets the rugged and natural terrain in which the books take
place, setting a perfect picture of early America. While he sets an exact image of the land, he goes
even more in depth in the characters dialect, speaking and using the slang you would hear early
inhabitants use. His use of both of these to depict a picture of America is one of the things that makes
him the father of American literature. Mark Twain had a very defining childhood that influenced his

it a step further when he worked on newspapers and articles which by then he was old enough to take
notice of how it made him feel and how it interested him. Mark Twain grew up on the Mississippi
River which influenced many of his books like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Life on the
Mississippi. Mark Twain s mother, Jane Clemens, would tell Twain and his siblings stories, which
may have sparked in interest at a very young age. Ernest Hemingway could have influenced Twain

ancient stink spirit who arrives in search of its ritual cleaning. Chihiro begins her duties only to be

The Horror Film Genre
Horror films have been around for over 100 years, petrifying people and bringing their worst fears to
life but still they can t get enough of this sick and gory genre that is unbelievably entertaining and
captivating to the audience. Horror comes with many sub genres from your bloody slashers like Friday
the 13th to your Supernatural Horrors like The Exorcist, but in the end they all seem to do their job by
scaring you and leaving you with nightmares for weeks on end. Usually Horror s films have the same
character stereotypes such as the nerd, the jock, the slut, the virgin, the junky, the tough hero, the
unlikely hero and last but not least the masked murderer, but yet they all play their own part in the
making of these horrors movies whether it is the extremely slow walk the killer does but almost
always catches the victim, or the unwise decision to split up and investigate where the unusual noise is
coming from.
Every film uses pro filmic codes, despite of what genre it is. Location, lighting styles, props, costumes
and compositions are all used. In horrors location is a very big factor to the plot, as it contributes to
the storyline and without a certain location the viewer would get quite confused as to where it s set,
some locations that are frequently used are places like the woods, summer camps and just normal
homes. Props used can vary from many different items whether it is from the killer s life ending
weapons or something as simple as jewellery. Lightning styles

Disadvantages Of Romantic Relationships
Teens become interested and involved in dating because of the desire to belong to others during
adolescence. As a consequence, it is clear that over the time, romantic relationships gain in
importance. Adolescents crave to hold an intimate romantic relationship to which love is made and
received without restriction. It is according to the need to belong theory by which souls possess the
determination to join with others in enduring, faithful relationships. Furthermore, the hypothesis states
that humans share the same need to be a part or connected with other mortals, and claims that all souls
may live life better if they are linked. Myers (2010) confirmed the demand to belong theory by
insisting that people who see a person complimenting their needs to whom they can share their
problems with, makes those people more acknowledge able. Belongings are supported by close, cozy
relationship which tends to be healthier and happier. Because of this need to belong, we can see now
that most university students are synchronizing their time in both academic and romantic views.
Engaging themselves in this romantic relationship enables them to feel that someone cares for them,
shows affection to them, loves them, etc. Furthermore, research led by Campbell Oliver ... Show more

In spite of their differences, both African and African American culture have been able to connect in

The Structure Of The African Family In The Black Family
Black family systems are African in nature and American in nurture. Africanity is being in tune with
an African worldview, therefore the role that Africanity plays in black families determines the unique
form black families take. Africanity is at the root of black families. The operation of the black family
is directly linked to African culture through an African attitude, kinship networks, and childbearing.
The black family is centered around the African ethos, a common guiding principle that filled African
peoples lives. The African ethos, broken down into two categories, is the survival of the tribe and the
oneness of being. The knowledge of one s tribal or family genealogy not only reflected and showed
the importance of the interconnectedness of all elements of the family (tribe), it also was thought to
impart the sense of sacred obligation to extend and continue one s genealogical line. In other words,
existence is dependent not only on those alive, but those dead as well. Therefore in practice, the
structure of traditional African families is based on union. African based family systems can be
thought of as a Continual Flexibility in Circularity . It is based on the continuity and union of people.
African culture must be the basis for understanding black families. African roots of black culture is the
retention of an African attitude, an attitude based on a belief system which understood everything in
the universe to be endowed with the Supreme Force. In

Weaknesses Of The Hague Rules
The Hague rules had many imperfections, which highlights its change to the later amended 1971
Hague Visby rules. One of the many weaknesses of the Hague rules was that in article X The
provisions of this Convention shall apply to all bills of lading issued in any of the contracting States .
According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007). Shipment from ports not in the contracting states to any
port in contracting states. The Hague Rules do not apply but rather the law of the country from where
the goods were shipped would be the valid law. According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007), this
creates loopholes where parties are able to contract out of the Hague rules by selecting any law other
than the law where the bill of lading is issued as the governing law. Earlier common law cases like the
case Moorcock (1889) is helpful in this area of contract law, as implied contract terms if breached can
have locus standi in courts and individuals should be aware of them within a contract. This highlights
how the Hague rules do not add much to earlier common law provisions. An additional common law
case would be Liver alkali v Jonson (1874), which gives the carrier complete liability giving far better
protection to cargo owners.
An additional fault with The Hague rules is that the Maximum Limit of a carrier s liability was set to
low. The limitation of carrier s liability is stated in Article IV Rule 5. Neither the carrier nor the ship
shall in any event be or become liable for any loss or

  • 4. Using The Credit Line Tied Down T Bill Rate Answer 1. I plan to use the credit line tied to the 3months T bill rate. In loanable funds market which borrowers (my firm) demand funds and lenders supply them. The price in this market is interest rate. Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in the market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s spending potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable funds market. So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates. The following exhibit 1a shows when demand is weak (D1) and the real interest rate low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future financing cost if I use the credit line. Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5% and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the other hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason why the inflation will help either my firm or lenders. Answer 2: Answer 4: According to the text book the law of demand states that there is an inverse relationship between the price of a good or service and the quantity of it that consumers are willing to purchase . That being said, in general the demand curve will be in a downward slope. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He strongly believes people are overusing artificial luminescence at night, and should reduce their usage to preserve darkness. To substantiate his opinion, Bogard utilizes factual evidence and appeal to emotion. Bogard employs factual evidence as a means of improving his argument. In his second paragraph, Bogard utilizes evidence provided by the WHO in saying the night shift is a probable human carcinogen. . . He begins by reminiscing about his childhood spent at a lake, nostalgically speaking of the scenes he saw in the sky. Later, he says Even the northern lake where I was lucky enough to spend my summers as seen its darkness diminish . Bogard uses his own past as a means of accessing the reader s past, forcing him or her to think about how much they value their childhood. By stating how even his childhood memories are being blown away by artificial lighting, Bogard instills fear that their memories will face the same fate in the reader. As a result of this fear, the reader is left only to agree with Bogard. He then goes on to state night s darkness can provide solitude, quiet and stillness. . . In a world awash with electric light . . . how would Van Gogh have given the world his Starry Night ? As humans, peace and solitude is an inherent part of who we are; no matter how mush of a social butterfly we are, quiet is something we all crave. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had been trying to utilize. Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. While he sets an exact image of the land, he goes even more in depth in the characters dialect, speaking and using the slang you would hear early inhabitants use. Pythagoreans followed purification rituals that included extensive bathing, with well developed rules, enabling their souls to achieve a higher rank among the gods. Chihiro s journey of change and growth takes place in a bathhouse that caters to these gods. There is notable emphasis on the bathing rites of passage occurring in the film and as Chihiro tends to her daily work she is often dripping wet, herself, from drawing baths and providing towel services to the gods. The most dramatic of scenes includes an ancient stink spirit who arrives in search of its ritual cleaning. Chihiro begins her duties only to be engulfed in the stench and mire that flow from the stink spirit and upon successfully removing a thorn from its side, the spirit proves to be a polluted river spirit, whose trash and pollution pours into the room. • 31. The Horror Film Genre Horror films have been around for over 100 years, petrifying people and bringing their worst fears to life but still they can t get enough of this sick and gory genre that is unbelievably entertaining and captivating to the audience. Horror comes with many sub genres from your bloody slashers like Friday the 13th to your Supernatural Horrors like The Exorcist, but in the end they all seem to do their job by scaring you and leaving you with nightmares for weeks on end. Usually Horror s films have the same character stereotypes such as the nerd, the jock, the slut, the virgin, the junky, the tough hero, the unlikely hero and last but not least the masked murderer, but yet they all play their own part in the making of these horrors movies whether it is the extremely slow walk the killer does but almost always catches the victim, or the unwise decision to split up and investigate where the unusual noise is coming from. Every film uses pro filmic codes, despite of what genre it is. Location, lighting styles, props, costumes and compositions are all used. In horrors location is a very big factor to the plot, as it contributes to the storyline and without a certain location the viewer would get quite confused as to where it s set, some locations that are frequently used are places like the woods, summer camps and just normal homes. Props used can vary from many different items whether it is from the killer s life ending weapons or something as simple as jewellery. Lightning styles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Structure Of The African Family In The Black Family Black family systems are African in nature and American in nurture. Africanity is being in tune with an African worldview, therefore the role that Africanity plays in black families determines the unique form black families take. • 38. Weaknesses Of The Hague Rules The Hague rules had many imperfections, which highlights its change to the later amended 1971 Hague Visby rules. One of the many weaknesses of the Hague rules was that in article X The provisions of this Convention shall apply to all bills of lading issued in any of the contracting States . According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007). Shipment from ports not in the contracting states to any port in contracting states. The Hague Rules do not apply but rather the law of the country from where the goods were shipped would be the valid law. According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007), this creates loopholes where parties are able to contract out of the Hague rules by selecting any law other than the law where the bill of lading is issued as the governing law. Earlier common law cases like the case Moorcock (1889) is helpful in this area of contract law, as implied contract terms if breached can have locus standi in courts and individuals should be aware of them within a contract. This highlights how the Hague rules do not add much to earlier common law provisions. An additional common law case would be Liver alkali v Jonson (1874), which gives the carrier complete liability giving far better protection to cargo owners. An additional fault with The Hague rules is that the Maximum Limit of a carrier s liability was set to low. The limitation of carrier s liability is stated in Article IV Rule 5. Neither the carrier nor the ship shall in any event be or become liable for any loss or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
