Simon Weisenthal
Simon Weisenthal was a renowned Nazi hunter and Author. He was born on December 31st, 1908. He
lived a heroic life and died on September 20, 2005. I am just here to explain his tales and misfortunes.
Simon started off by being born in the Ukraine, but his parents soon packed up and took him along to
Argentina. Growing up he did well in school and graduated from The Gymnasium in 1928 and applied
to the Polytechnic Institute in Lvov. Turned away because of restrictions on Jewish students, he went
to the Technical University of Prague instead, from which he received his degree in architectural
engineering in 1932. In 1936, Simon married Cyla Mueller and worked in an architectural office in
Lvov. They lived happily in their small town of Lvov ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After his life of nazi hunting, he moved back to his native land Austria. Used to his active lifestyle, he
found himself doing nothing all day. He decided to spend his time more productively by writing down
all that he remembered about being a concentration camp inmate. The book was about when he was a
concentration camp inmate, Simon was taken from his cell to the bedside of a dying member of the
SS. (Hitler s personal guards) Haunted by the crimes he has helped commit and watch in the past, he
wanted to hear a jew say that he forgives him so he could die at peace. Faced with the choice of a man
dying in peace, or silence and justice, he chose silence. The book was later published and titled
Sunflower, a metaphor for a sunflower starting in a ground, in darkness, then eventually sprouting and
basking in the sun. He started from ground zero, pretty much like a robot. Everyday he wakes up at
the same time, eats the same lousy breakfast, works in the same factory, and sleeps at the same time.
Then eventually his camp is liberated right before the nazis started liquidating the inmates population.
Then he became a free man therefore has no restraints. Simon was also awarded many medals for his
services as a Nazi hunter. 13 states dished out medals of honor, and France, Germany, England, and
America. In conclusion, Simon Wiesenthal was most known for his time as a Nazi

The Music Of Music And Music Essay
The same colors of music have been used to paint unique masterpieces throughout history. From
Mozart to Michael Jackson and Beethoven to Bob Marley, the behaviors of sound melodies,
harmonies and chords have been manipulated by individuals to communicate their soul s message to
the masses. The connections between music from the renaissance to contemporary tunes is quite
surprising. The Beatles weren t the first ones to talk about love, life struggles or heartache. These have
been common themes of everyone s lives since Adam and Eve. Bob Marley and Michael Jackson took
their own personal experiences and paired it with the universal language of music to connect with
people. Through a multitude of albums and singles, these two artists created timeless pieces of music,
some of which are still present on the top charts. Although some disagree with the fact that their music
is timeless, by comparing the music of Michael Jackson and Bob Marley to music that is known as
timeless, one can see the direct correlation. Although good music is completely opinionated, timeless
music has been boiled down to a science. Enrique Rubio, Engineer, Writer and student of music, takes
the lessons conveyed by Mozart and narrows it down to four reasons why he is such a well known
leader in the music world. His inspiration, desire for constant learning, ability to absorb and adapt
knowledge by staying focused and unbiased learning process are the qualities he has deemed to be
timeless

Five Principles Of Tragedy
Discuss the principles of tragedy as defined in Aristotle s Poetics. Illustrate these principles by
examining Sophocles play Oedipus the King, in order to establish the link between the theory and
practise of tragedy. Analyse the genre of tragedy as one that reveals dilemma and paradox.
The advent of modern theater as we know it today began with the worship of Dionysus: the god of the
grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness, fertility, theater and religious ecstasy in Greek
mythology and a weeklong competition that welcomed the Spring in ancient Greece. Many great
playwrights were introduced to the World by the means of this weeklong competition including
Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Sophocles is perhaps one of the pioneers of the genre of tragedy
and his plays Oedipus Rex, Antigone and Oedipus at Colonus have for centuries inspired
contemporary playwrights and theater artists to venture deeper into the understanding of the complex
idea of the individual versus fate. In this essay I intend to examine Aristotle s Poetics and the five
principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Oedipus, Sophocles creates a character who s not only the king but, also the solver of the Sphinx s
riddle and hence, can be recognised as a man portrayed better than he would ve been in real life: a
man with an intricately defined moral compass and elevated social stature. Further examples of
Oedipus as an ideal tragic hero can be derived out of the fact that he comes from a noble and
prosperous background as he s the biological son of the Laius, king of Thebes and the adopted son of
Polybus, the king of Corinth. He also is greatly revered in the society and respected as a very adept
and benevolent king which is evident from the Priest s reference to him as the first of men. Oedipus is
also greatly worried by the Pestilence that haunts the city of Thebes and says the following in that

The Role Of The Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The world is not perfect, things sometimes happen to good people. It would be nice if there was a hero
for every problem that ever occurred that was bad. Someone to save the day from things like bad
people, starvation, accidents, or any bad situation out there. Everyone like the hero, the man or woman
that sweeps in and saves the day. Throughout history there has been countless stories written with a
hero in some way or form. The Epic of Gilgamesh is probably the oldest written story in the world.
One don t even half to read far into the store where it talks about Gilgamesh thought of as a hero. He

The Asterix field lies in 1,360 meters of water in the Norwegian North Sea on Block 6705/10 in PL
327B. The field is operated by Statoil, holding a 70% interest; Petoro holds 25%; and Norske Shell the
remaining 10% interest.
Drilled by the Transocean Leader, the 6705/10 1 well reached a vertical depth of 3,775 meters below
sea. The reservoir is located in Upper Cretaceous reservoir rocks, and found gas in rocks with good
reservoir properties.
Asterix will be considered for development together with Luva and the other nearby discoveries. In
addition, the configuration of Asterix, Haklang, Snefrid and other small discovery raises the
possibility of developing an infrastructure in the fields of Norway.
Statoil has found gas in Asterix, a small undeveloped gas discovery for which is developing custom
technology.

Czech Red Cross Visual Analysis
Visual Analysis Essay Imagine being an angel for someone by saving their life and being a certified
guardian wherever you go. By attending a first aid training course one can save the lives of many. The
Czech Red Cross ad depicts an image of sorrow and grief which tells the audience that with first aid
training, we can all save the lives. They use colors of dark greys and blacks to show the sadness in the
picture, as well as the color red to show a sense of love and peace. They use an angel kneeling before
a casket trying to resurrect the dead by using CPR. Its intended for others to look at this ad and see
themselves as the angel, saving one s life, and becoming their guardian. The Czech Red Cross depicts
an emotional and deep scene to get their message out into the world. They illustrate a stone angel,
which appears to be a statue, kneeling before a casket. On the casket, there is a single red candle

blood and a sense of regret or sorrow. It can also exemplify peace, love, and serenity, which can make
readers feel love towards the dead in the casket, as well as a bit of regret. The scene itself is very dark
and woodsy. The colors used include dark shades of blue, purple, grey, and black. These colors can
symbolize sorrow, grief, and death. The Czech Red Cross wants views or their ad to feel the sorrow in
the picture. These colors make one feel sad and regret over not taking a first aid training course to save
lives. The twilight sunset in the background sets the mood of sorrow and grief as well. The bright,
orange, white sun setting in the background can symbolize peace and hope. It gives viewers hope that

World War II War Crimes
World War II War Crimes
The declaration of war against Germany made by Neville Chamberlain of Great Britain starting World
War II in 1939 may have started a gruesome and horrible time for civilians and soldiers. This was was
total war. Every civilian, every business, every service was involved. Although during the conflicts of
World War II a lot of the countries became involved, such as Germany, France, Japan, and the United
States which may have been caused some quarrel about how the fighting was taking place, and many
agreements were signed; some believe that Germany started it all by making the bombings supposedly
not a crime. On the other hand, the atrocious aerial bombings performed by the Royal Air Force of
Great Britain may overpower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of total total war is, a war that is unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, the territory
or combatants involved, or the objectives pursued, especially one in which the laws of war are
disregarded. This definition shows how although the actions committed by the Royal Air Force of
Great Britain may not have been good ideas, because it was total war, it was happening often during
this time period. As stated in document 15 by J.M. Spaight Bombing Vindicated in 1994, the people
who make and transport war material are, to the opposing belligerent, active, dangerous enemies.
Spaight is stating how some may use the argument that most civilians are simply doing their work in
factories and farms and are not bothering with the war. His argument is that although they may seem
to be just doing their work, in reality the work of making and transporting weapons that could be use
in the war against others means that these citizens are helping out directly. This seems to cause a valid
argument from some perspectives; that although the killing of innocent civilians may seem
unnecessary and cruel, if it were not for the bombing, then they would still contribute to the war by
making weapons which would be a danger towards the enemy side. First and foremost, this
perspective is a British one. Most likely this person did not see

Bead Game Essay
Bead Game by Ishu Patel was created in 1977. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was
created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further
into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from the
remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the beginning
of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color making
his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is sound of
percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of both sound and
movement in the animation. The film reminded me of the creation of life; ... Show more content on

Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman and
then into present day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards the end of
the film. Patel shows synchronization through his animating when there are two men throwing a spear
at one another and the beads are arranged in a way that the two mirror each other. Another historical
event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700
BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then
going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the creator of this film is
trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and then fueled by creativity
the design turns into an art form. This interpretation that I have made isn t obvious; it is just something
that I took away from the animation after watching it. Something that is noticeable throughout this
animation is how frequent the use of red is. Patel used red for his creatures that showed characteristics

many people subscribed to such sites as witnessed by the rise of Plenty of Fish in 2007 to become the

2. eHarmony s value proposition
At eHarmony, the customer gets the chance to communicate with a potential partner after having paid
for the communication process. The value provided in eHarmony s business model concerns giving
the paying member guided communication with a potential partner. The company ensures that they
consider the preferences of the applicants before starting on the match making process. According to
Piskorski, Halaburda Smith, the company considers the similarities among applicants in order to start
the match making process (6).
In line with this, the company considers a person s characteristics, interests, and values and looks for a
person whose profile is similar. In fact, the company has gone against the traditional idea that
opposites attract and opted for the similar traits while match making. This assures the customer of the
value of the investment they make when subscribing for the site as it offers more personalized and
workable options than other sites.

Microtransactions On Gaming Marketing Agency
Microtransactions in Gaming
I. INTRODUCTION
What Are Microtransactions?
In the gaming marketing agency over the past few years, many of the video game publishers have
been pushing for higher revenues and returns from their investments in games. This has been proven
to be the norm from smaller, free to play titles, all the way to the largest game developers on the
market. For many developers, this means more advertisement promotion of their games on the internet
and on television or to try and improve their game to add more content for the buyers. As the case is
for many other developers however, their solution in recent years seems to consist of using the tactic
of microtransactions. As one may assume, this has led to many problems in the video game industry.
Microtransactions are defined as, A very small financial transaction conducted online

price range that has been established yet to define it by price. Typically, microtransactions are located

studios that do not have enough money to promote their game to be able to sell it for a fee and still
become popular, microtransactions are one of their main sources of revenue from the game. By
relying on these transactions as the main source of income however, this tempts many studios to

Student s Choice Of How They Spend Their Leisure Time...

Since the rise of streaming services like Netflix, children and young adults today find themselves
picking up books less and looking at screens more. Watching TV at a young age has often been
connected to poor performance on standardized tests. This includes one study which found that
Californian third graders who had televisions in their bedroom, watched more TV and in turn,
performed worse on standardized tests than those who did not (Gosline).
Some believe students who spend more time on video games instead of reading perform poorly in
school. This includes a group of schools in Michigan. Their after school program named, Kids
Learning in Computer Klubhouses! gave students a place to go after school to surf the web and play
video games. The program attracted students who, [miss] a lot of school and who [aren t] particularly
successful according to one adult coordinator (Girod). However, both a 2000 and 1997 study found a
small correlation between amount of time spent playing video games and GPA suggesting that while
the program may have attracted those who do not perform well, their performance may have been
caused by other factors (Craton).
Napping is also an option for some students. Given that many find themselves up until the odd hours
in the morning, catching up on sleep can become a priority when given free time. Taking a nap
immediately after a lecture was shown to improve cognitive memory and in turn, standardized test
scores, according to one study

The Thematic Elements Of William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Nobility or shame
The thematic elements found throughout many of William Shakespeare s plays are numerous. Such
themes further develop the plot of the story and help explain a universal purpose the story has.
Imagination seeps through every crevice in the reader s mind as to what a theme can be alluding to.
Throughout many of Shakespeare s written works, it can be noted that death, in particular suicide, is a
relevant and ongoing theme that Shakespeare gives way to. A prime example is that of the well known
tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare does not stop at the tragedy of the star crossed lovers, but
further goes on to write several more tragedies that deal with suicide such as: Macbeth, Julius Caesar,
Othello, and Hamlet. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the rise of the Renaissance era, the motto death before dishonor was implanted in many courtly
ideals. Many chose to die than to have dishonor upon their name. It would be a burden that they would
live with for the rest of their lives if their name was put to shame. Suicide was given the bad shoulder
during this time, but many writers shined a light on it that further enhanced a work of literature.
Shakespeare was one of the many writers that shined a light within the theme of suicide. Suicide in his
works further enhanced the development of the story. This is because suicide is a recurring theme that
gives way to understand the cultural impact that comes with being a mortal. Shakespeare opens the
window to this developing theme that is shunned upon by society. In order to understand why suicide
is a key theme that further develops a story, one has to understand the social repercussions that suicide
holds during that time. In Shakespeare s Hamlet it can be noted that even though Hamlet did not go
through with contemplated suicide, he still thought about whether he should go through the difficulties
of life and keep on suffering. For instance, Shakespeare writes and by opposing end them (page.127,
line 68). By opposing the Christian moral views, he knows and values, Hamlet knows that suicide will
end all his troubles and he will be at peace. Hamlet decides not to partake in such action. This further

and as model citizens: the complexity and mobility of Asian American racialization goes beyond a
simple hierarchy with Whites on the highest level, Black people on the lowest, and other groups in

Rather, we must consider race as a field of racial positions, which acknowledge superiority/inferiority
and insider/foreigner racializations, from which we can observe how Asian Americans continue to be
viewed as interlopers in a Black/White racial discourse through the intertwined processes of relative

When comparing the performance of Asian American participants on a mathematical examination

place a considerable burden on stereotyped Asian Americans, adversely affecting their performance in

Woman´s Right on Abortions
Personal Choices Women s reproductive rights have been endangered from early history. A woman s
job included housework and child birth. Around 1920, women started receiving their choices and
rights. In the 21st century, women are looked at with fairness and receive equal opportunities, but
there is one right being stripped from women: the choice of using birth control and aborting
pregnancy. Society frowns upon aborting a fetus in the womb, but it fails to realize the circumstantial
standing each woman is placed in and should accept the decision a woman decides for her future
whether it is to use birth control or abort her pregnancy. Women today may have more choices but it
has not always been this way. Women of the past often didn t get much a choice about their sexuality
(Bringle). However by 1950s, a pill to prevent pregnancy was created. Though this contraception was
created, it was hard to get. A birth control advocate, Margaret Sanger, attacked legislative restrictions
on birth control , informed many women the uses and positive aspects of using contraception, and
encouraged doctors to give contraception guidance by opening the first birth control clinic in New
York in 1916 (Bringle). Even after the widespread information of birth control, the accessibility of it
today is low. This pill is a necessity for women in today s world and should be made more accessible.
To use contraception, a doctor has to prescribe it and this prescription is rarely covered by

I Walked Out One Evening By Robert Burns
Robert Burns Oh, my love is like a red, red rose and in W. H. Auden As I Walked Out One Evening
both write about how one loves a significant other for an eternity. Both poets use time measuring
devices to show how time could hinder the couple s feelings. Burns and Auden use the themes of love
and time to show that people will fall in love and that time will never stop. They both show how time
can affect the way that the lovers in the poems feel about one another.
In Burns poem, the speaker is newly in love, we know this because in line That s newly sprung in June
he means that his love is just blossoming. Time is an important key in this poem, the speaker says that
he will love his partner until the seas gang dry, my dear, and the rocks melt wi the sun he is saying that
he will love them until the end of time itself. Both poems use clocks as a symbol to help achieve the
meaning behind their poem. The clock in Burns poem is really an hourglass that he says And I will
love thee still, my dear, While the sands o life shall run. Burns is saying that even until after the last
grain of sand has run through the hourglass of life he will continue to love his lover. Burns poem uses
time as a continuation, as something that just flows through, something that cannot be changed and
something that is just a fact of life. Even when the lovers are apart they vow to love each other despite
time passing by without them seeing one another. Auden s poem has three different

Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel And Dimed
Several things can influence how a person performs: gender, race, and even class. In a sense, class
could be considered the easiest thing to perform, and can also change the quickest. Nothing needs to
be drastically, physically changed in order to perform a different class than the one a person is a part
of. However, performing up or down in class takes a lot of effort. When someone performs up in class,
they were persecuted and looked down upon compared to someone who performs down. By using the
excerpt Serving in Florida from Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich and the play, Six Degrees of
Separation, by John Guare, we see how performing different classes than the one each person is a part
affect themselves and those around them In Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel and Dimed, Barbara went
undercover to perform and learn about a class that was not her own. Although it was for only a month,
Barbara struggled to keep up the effort and survive in a lower class than she was accustomed to. Even
so, her co workers and the people she met along the way did not realize she was performing down in
her class. Maybe this was because the people she surrounded herself with were also in similar class
situations where the fight to survive was more difficult, not allowing much space in thoughts for other
people s life stories. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul performed up in class in search of friendship
and acceptance. Paul s performances, in terms of race, is cynical,

Childhood Memories in My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke...
Childhood Memories in My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Piano by D.H. Lawrence
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Piano by D.H. Lawrence are two poems in which grown
men recall memories of their childhood. My Papa s Waltz has a quietly sad, almost resigned tone as
Roethke relives his nightly dances with his father as a young boy. Lawrence s Piano is somewhat
dreamy as a man is taken back by a song to his childhood. While both are presented to us through
similar personas, striking differences are apparent throughout the two poems.
My Papa s Waltz is the pensive recollection of a boy s nightly waltz around the house in the arms of
his father. Roethke s poem gives a voice to the often silent internal ... Show more content on

And yet at the end of the stanza, we are shown just how defenseless the child is as his father drags him
around the room, scraping his son s ear with his belt buckle. Roethke makes the most important
statement in the last line of his poem, ? waltzed me off to bed Still clinging to your shirt (479).
Clinging, and all that the word implies: fear, sadness, love and admiration, is both the greatest strength
and obstacle the boy will encounter in his relationship with his father. In contrast to My Papa s Waltz ,
D. H. Lawrence s Piano is a man s remembrance of a happy childhood. Lawrence sets a dream like
tone in the first stanza of his poem as we are taken back through the years to a man s boyhood. Taken
back by a song, the man is transported back to the Sundays of his childhood where he would sit
beneath the piano as his mother played hymns. While melancholy, Lawrence shows us that his persona
yearns for the happy childhood he once had with the line, The glamour Of childish days is upon me,
my manhood is cast Down in the flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past (574). The
author establishes a connection with readers through his use of music as a means of passage through
time with the statement, In spite of myself, the insidious mastery of song Betrays me back,? (574).

A threat is anything that represents a risk to information property. There are many several threats that
represent a persistent danger to people and organizations information assets. In this report, I will cover

A Security threat is any form of security violations that may include any of the following: viruses,

one of the significant types of academic dishonesty which has always existed in education. For
example, assignments submitted by students may turn out to be copied from associate students or
could be taken over, in part or in whole, from existing published works. Also, break copyright and
software theft. For example, throughout the society, it is well known that the illegal copying of
copyrighted media (texts, music works, movies and software programs) is widespread. Furthermore,
many people who engage in such activity do not consider themselves to be doing something that is
immoral. Therefore, students and staff may have authorized access to computer resources, but then go
on to use these resources improperly. They may have a school/library Internet account, or they may
use computer system or computer network or computer software that is owned by the school, or they

Amygdala In The Limbic System
In the limbic system, there are two almond shaped groups of amygdalae. The two amygdalae (left and
right) together make up what we call the Amygdala. Amygdala in Greek means almond, hence
corresponding the name with the shape. The amygdala s right and left portions differ in specific
processing. The left and right amygdalae also have different roles when it comes to the encoding of
emotional memory for events. In humans the right amygdala is larger than the left (Murphy et al.,
2009) this could contribute to the right hemisphere being more dominant for emotion. The amygdala
can also differ according to sex. For example in both humans and rats, a male s amygdala tends to be
larger than a female. Nevertheless the two amygdalae work together in ... Show more content on

The amygdala receives projections from the hippocampus, the thalamus, and the prefrontal cortex.
Basically projections come from a variety of several structures. Research shows that the amygdala is
shown to perform a primary role in the processing of memory, decision making and emotional
reactions. The amygdala is also exceedingly responsive to social and emotional stimuli as conveyed
vocally, through touch, and via the face (Gloor, 1992; Halgren, 1992; Kling Brothers 1992; Morris et
al., 2013; Rolls, 2007, 1992). The amygdala is responsible for a lot of our survival related needs. For

after trauma suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Traumatic events can actually alter the
structure and function of people s brains (H. (2016) How To Heal The Brain After Trauma). Which
results in the amygdala being in a highly alert loop. Their brains tend to stay on alert, seeking out
threats. It is hard for them not to feel anxious, scared or however undergoing the event that caused

Time itself is a never ending cycle, however; our time as humans on Earth is finite. Both Siddhartha

importance of time, showing how patience and contentment is acquired over time. Although each
reading incorporates characters that experience moments of unease, losing a touch of their passion and
goals, their interpretation of time differs; Hesse portrays time linearly while Hemon views time
circularly. Siddhartha seeks Enlightenment by taking the road less traveled, a Western belief ironically

that he had in Bosnia. The only possible way the author could recreate these repetitive moments in his

life that constantly reoccur. His moment of transcendence are when he s on the soccer field, every time
his team put a ball into the back of the net, he feels the universe converged together to make the goal

and Sunday, he became accustomed to that routine for years until the games stopped occurring.
Hemon perceived time on a weekly base, looking forward to his fixated schedule; slight deviation of
schedule gave him anxiety. Even in his absence, time will continue on, pick up soccer games will
continue to happen and those willing to attend will be present there. The notion that time is circular
can also be seen in the story as well, after immigrating to Chicago he went years without playing

Confucianism In Vietnam Essay
Vietnam makes up a major part of Indochina, a region whose religions, philosophies, art, and political
organizations were dominated by India and China for two millennia (Buttinger 1968). The region of
Indochina retained its identity, despite the ideology of China that led to continual interference in the
region (Luttwak 2012). Indeed, different Chinese dynasties had made continual efforts to invade and
assimilate Vietnam for around a thousand years before the first central feudal government was formed
in Vietnam in the early 11th century. Even after this period, Vietnam had to continuously guard against
the invasion of Chinese and Mongolian dynasties until the Tay Son Kingdom defeated the invasion

To guard against threats and the risk of assimilation from the Chinese, the Vietnamese had learned
from its northern neighbor to build strong centralized feudal governments along with tireless effort to
maintain friendly relations with China. The feudal government structure was largely borrowed from
China s model in which Confucianism was the main philosophy. A major reason why Confucianism
has become deeply rooted in Vietnam s society was that feudal courts found that it was a reasonable
philosophy to rule (Duiker 1995). To deal with wars or the threat of war, the need for consolidated and
centralized power was prominent. Therefore, there was not much time for discussion or space for
exercising democracy throughout Vietnam s history. The paternalistic style has been the dominant
mode of government in Vietnam. The role of the feudal government mainly focused on defense and
building irrigation systems the backbone of a wet rice economy. All Vietnamese feudal courts treated
China respectfully, and most of them sought recognition from Chinese courts. After victories in wars
with China, Vietnam s feudal courts always sent ambassadors to China to seek reestablishment of
friendly relationships. Furthermore, feudal governments sometimes sought support from China s
feudal courts to act against other external forces, such

A Project Of The World Bank Essay
The World Bank Group has set two goals for the world to achieve by 2030: To end extreme poverty by
decreasing the percentage of people living on less than $1.90 a day to no more than 3% and to
promote shared prosperity by fostering the income growth of the bottom 40% for every country, which
the organization is trying to achieve via low interest loans, zero to low interest credits, and grants to
developing countries ( What We Do, n.d.). The World Bank s moto is Working for a World Free of
Poverty with the caveat of do no harm ; however, what is left in their wake in many cases is
heartbreak and devastation. My task with this paper is to address a project of the World Bank in
Nigeria that created problems for the nation, and especially the people therein, that received its
assistance.

financed by the World Bank (Chavkin et al., 2015). These people were thrown into the elements with
no food, shelter, or any plan for the future. In my research I found an article by Huffington Post

How Does Edna Committed Suicide
In 1898 Kate Chopin wrote a novel titled The Awakening that took place in a Louisiana Setting. The
main character Edna experiences an awakening physically and emotionally. The ending to Chopin s
novel is ambiguous and leaves the reader to make their own conclusion as to whether Edna committed
suicide willingly or not. By Edna committing suicide, it can be justified as a way for her to escape
from the society in which she lives and the situations she faces.
In the beginning of Chopin s novel the setting starts in Grand Isle, Louisiana and gradually changes to
New Orleans, Louisiana. During the time Chopin wrote the novel women were suppose to be motherly
and submissive to their husbands. Edna did not posses either of those characteristics and was not
considered a mother woman (Chopin 9) and she longed for a life that she would struggle to have. Edna
went through many stages to reach the freedom she wanted. Chopin used symbols such as the Caged

Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide
Debate Paper
On the positive side of assisted suicide, it is strongly believed that the right to assisted suicide allows
the terminally ill to have a clean and fair death. No one wants to live with pain and sorrow. From their
perspective, doctor s help the suffering and terminally ill to die when they choose is nothing wrong.
From what they had argued, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows people the
right to freedom of speech, press, petition, religion. With this logic, it would be reasonable to believe
that you are allowed to have the right to die. The right to assisted suicide can help the patients with the
terminally ill to release from pain and suffering, reduce the damaging financial effects of hospital care
on their families, and preserve the individual right of people to determine their own fate.
However, on the negative side of the assisted suicide debate, It is argued that a physician s goal is to
help their patient get the proper care and help they need in order to get better and heal; it should not be
through killing them. From Procon.org, In Compassion in Dying v. State of Washington, it was stated
that physician assisted suicides acts as a slippery slope to those who aren t terminally ill and will take
advantage of it. Once we allow assisted suicides, it opens the way to offering it to people who are no
longer mentally competent. And then to people who are in distress but not terminally ill. So this is
saying that if anyone suffered

The Natural Resource Of Natural Resources
1.1 Background and Introduction Over the last decade, the term natural resource curse has gained
importance among resource rich countries; it claims that natural resource wealth is linked to poor
economic growth (Sachs Warner, 2001). In other words, countries with an abundance of natural
resources are less developed and tend to grow slower than resource poor countries (Sachs Warner,
2001). It may seem that having plenty of natural resources is a gift, yet the fact is economic growth in
countries like Indonesia and Nigeria do not actually show that the profusion of natural resources are a
blessing (The Economist, 2000). Expectation to have a high growth economy because of being rich in
natural resources has gone. In fact, natural resources have been causing many major conflicts to those
resource rich countries in terms of economics, international relations, and environment (Ross, 2003).
Looking back on Indonesia s history, Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch for 3.5 centuries, the
reason was simply because Indonesia is rich of natural resources, due to the limitations of natural
resources, especially herbs and spices back in Netherlands (Cribb, n.d.). During that time the Dutch
tried to get the natural resources as much as they could without considering the welfare of the
Indonesian (Cribb, n.d.). Indonesia had been freed from the Dutch and Japanese, yet, until today after

The Inevitability Of Reality, By Edvard Munch
The Inevitability of Reality
Oscar Wilde once said, Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only
individuals. This quote explains that society is corrupt. People will only surround you when you are in
the spotlight, but will depart when you hit rock bottom. The painting The Dance of Life, by Edvard
Munch, portrays a life from beginning to completion. It is visible that the same woman is cloned, from
a happier stage of life, to a dark, gloomy end. The Swimmer, by John Cheever, relates to this idea of
the different experiences throughout the course of one s life. The story is about Neddy, who decides to
go home by swimming through the Lucinda River. As a reader, we can see that the story takes place

At first, Neddy is at the Westerhazy s pool, where he decides that he is going to go on his journey and
names the length of pools, The Lucina River . At this point, Neddy is very happy, and appears very
young and healthy. He still has his high reputation and friends that he thinks he can rely on. Later on,
Neddy arrived at Enid Bunker s house to go through her pool. When he arrived, Ms. Bunker screams,
Oh, look who s here! What a marvelous surprise! When Lucinda said that you couldn t come I thought
I d die. (3) This shows us the peak of Neddy s reputation. Everyone wanted him to be at their party to
make it seem as if it was worth coming to, since it was good enough for Neddy to join. Cheever
continues the initial exchange saying, She made her way to him through the crowd, and when they had
finished kissing she led him to the bar, a progress that was slowed by the fact that he stopped to kiss
eight or ten other women and shake the hands of as many men. (3) This shows that Neddy is viewed
on high standards and why Mrs. Bunker was so happy that he had shown up to her party. Neddy
finishes his drink and then leaves to move on to the next pool.
When Neddy arrives at the Levy s house, no one is home and he cannot seem to remember whether or
not they sold the house. Neddy swims through the pool and helps

Explain The Three Categories Of Leadership Northhouse
Northhouse (2015p. 123) has identified three categories of leadership including administration skills,
interpersonal skills, and conceptual skills. The ability to be an effective supervisor is dependent on one
s ability to utilize both the relational and interpersonal skills. The supervisor s role in the Phoenix
House is multidimensional and requires both managerial and leadership skills to be successful. The
senior social worker manages the work of four social employees and two interns from the university
and implements weekly staff meetings as the primary form of communication. Within these meetings,
the concerns and procedures are being addressed, by the social worker. According to Northhouse

Thalidomide Lab Report
Thalidomide is a drug, which has the molecular formula of C13H10N2O4, it is made up of a pair of
optical isomers. Optical isomers are two or more forms of a compound that have the same structure
but are mirror images of each other. They have identical physical and chemical properties. They differ
in how they react with different chiral molecules (a carbon attached to four different types of atoms.
The isomers are extremely difficult to separate. Thalidomide was first synthesized by reaction of N
phthaloyl glutamic acid anhydride (III) with ammonia or urea at high temperatures. The reaction can
be carried out at temperatures between −10° C. and 115° C., typically from 0° to 80° C. The synthesis
can be carried out in a single reactor without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Research Proposal On The Civil Rights Movement
Abstract No matter varying ideas as to success, it is difficult to ignore that American culture has
undergone immense changes since the 1950s. The Civil Rights movement, the emergence of
feminism, and gay activism have literally revolutionized the society and how it functions, with many
changes going to the promotion of equality and heightened awareness of the needs of others. At the
same time, unfortunately, sexual criminality and violence remain critical issues, with women being the
primary victims. The patriarchal foundation of the society has diminished, yet norms still providing
men with entitlement remain in place, and this is a reality supported by modern research still referring
to a rape culture. This same research also presents disturbing evidence of how young college students
widely maintain norms affirming male dominance and aggression. No simple solution is then possible,
and any effective course must rely on as in depth research as may be conducted. To that end, the
following assessment of study on the subject concludes with a research proposal, and one utilizing
Structural Functionalism Theory and the innate value in interviewing students in both collective and
individual ways.
To what extent do mainstream sexuality norms impact sexual criminality? It is inescapable that
elements within a culture or society, and even of the most violent kinds, are linked to how that society
functions and how its norms influence behavior. Certainly, few if any

Socrates Argument On Fearing Death
Fearing Death
Socrates is taken to trial by his accusers for damaging and undignified the minds of the youth and not
believing the gods, but believing in his own conception. Basically what Socrates did was encourage
youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be charged with
corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth. And if he did not
mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates explains that his
accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore, he should not be
punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were not convinced so not only
did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he was sentenced to death his sense
of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked at as bad. I will explain the reasons
why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also explain Socrates argument on why we
should not fear death. In addition, since I disagree with Socrates, I will explain the reasons why we, as
living organisms, absolutely should fear death.

He explains that he believes that there is only one realm for an essence to make its place. And since
our soul has transferred into a different realm, then that means that we must exist in that world.
Socrates clarifies that if every essence goes to one single dimension, then that means every soul that
has ever existed, good or bad, resides there. Socrates expand on that idea saying that there are many
great minds that had passed away before him that he would like to converse and exchange wisdom
with that he had not had the chance to do with while he was

The Friar In The Canterbury Tales
The first characteristic of the Friar is his greed for monetary gain. Superficially it seems that he is a
man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is obvious the
Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are involved. If a man
paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere. This is an example of the
politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to the people, which in turn meant
greedy men could act as paid saviors. Although a friar s job was to beg for the poor, the Friar used his
position as a beggar for his own personal gain. He also used his skill of talk and courteousness to
obtain coin from even the poorest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, all of the previous examples highlight not only other characteristics but his insincerity and
falseness as well. It is described many times how the Friar kept company with people of means than
the sick, poor and beggars. He begged in the name of the poor but did not associate with those he
supposedly begged for. The guise under which the Friar lived and worked proved him to be a false
man. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is about a thieving and
lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a summoner; most likely because the
role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This feeling of distrust was mutual between the
Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too
many religious positions. Most importantly his tale shows the Friar as a hypocrite. After he finishes
his tale the Friar asks everyone listening to pray for the summoners of the world to repent their evils
but his words are not genuine or heartfelt. On the surface the Friar may seem like a semi trustworthy
man but his traits reveal hypocritical

Essay about An Ethical Theory Applied to Business...
The object of this essay is to establish whether there is an ethical theory that can be successfully
applied to business organizations. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the
major ethical theories, which are utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics, before determining
whether there are any other options. After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work
organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this context. It
will also be important to draw a distinction between the terms accurate and useful as these actually
result in two different questions the answer to which need not necessarily be the same. Another
essential part of this discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this it has the property of universalisality in that the right action will be right for
everyone. However, as a pragmatic and functional system of moral analysis, Utilitarianism has a
number of difficulties. One of the major problems is the fact that it is extremely difficult to quantify
happiness, and if it is not possible to decide which of several available actions produces the most
happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also a particular
action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences that have the
opposite effect. Can it be morally right to have a completely innocent and well person killed if two
seriously ill people could be saved by an organ transplantation? Is an action always and
incontrovertibly right because it gives greatest happiness to the greatest number of people?
Brady(1999) refutes this: the majority vote is not an ethic; it is a social choice technique. Deontology
as promoted by Kant on the other hand denies that the right action is the one that produces the best
consequences. It is based on a set of moral rules, and the right action is supposed to be the one that
conforms with these rules, whereas certain other types of action are morally forbidden. Deontology
seems to appeal to common sense as duties include special obligations to family and

Stock Market Failure
As of now, you are all most likely aware that our nation s economy is rapidly declining because of the
stock market crash. What you may not know is that your father and I have lost our life s savings
because of it. You see, your father and I decided to invest in some shares, hoping to make a profit in
the long run. What a mistake that turned out to be! Although we only used a miniscule portion of our
money, we bought the stocks on a margin, receiving loans from the bank. When the market crashed,
our bank announced that all loans must be fully paid off. We lost everything. We were forced to pay
off a loan that cost more than our personal investment in the shares. The loan was worth such a great
amount of money that your father and I had were

Malnutrition And Its Impact On Health And Social Care
Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
Undernutrition is an outcome of insufficient quantity and quality of food and frequent episodes of
infectious diseases.
Globally, 162 million under five year olds are stunted and 56 percent of all stunted children live in
Asia and 36% in Africa while 99 million under five year olds are underweight and 67 percent of all
underweight children live in Asia and 29% in Africa. Wasting stands at 51 million under five year olds
are wasted and 17 million were severely wasted and approximately 71 percent of all severely wasted
children lived in Asia and 28 percent in Africa (WHO, 2006).

Dfa Case Study
INVESTMENTS DFA Case study Introduction Dimensional Fund Advisors, further referred to as
DFA, is an investment company that bases its strategy mainly on academic research and related
theories. They work together with proponents of the efficient market hypothesis, indicating a
relatively strong belief in this theory and thus in efficient markets. However DFA also feels that
skilled traders have the ability to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment is inherently
passive and DFA does adjusts its strategy to new findings in the field. In this report we will evaluate
the relevance and accuracy of the theories used by DFA, especially the value premium and the size
premium where almost all of their funds are based upon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did DFA react too quickly to these still relatively controversial findings, do they fit in with the
relatively strong beliefs in efficient markets by DFA and could a change in DFA s strategy increase
both the performance of its funds and the company overall? These questions will be answered by a
thorough analysis of the value, and the size premium. Value premium A lot of criticism on the CAPM
has arisen over the last decades. One finding by Basu in 1977 is often used by opponents of the model
in order to take down the foundation of the CAPM. Basu[3] found that stocks with a low price
earnings ratio, called value stocks, tend to outperform stocks with a high price earnings ratio, named
growth stocks. As the CAPM only allows for fundamental risk to explain excess returns on stocks, the
finding that stocks from companies with high fundamentals (earnings, sales, dividends) relative to
price outperformed growth stocks was in contradiction with the classical CAPM. Proponents of the
CAPM and the efficient market argued that the value premium could be explained by their classical
risk and return rewards, value stocks they argued earned higher returns due to higher risk related to
poor performance in the recent history of the firm. Fama and French[4] however also concluded that
the value premium did exist and even found in the same paper that the book to market ratio and size
premium together were able to explain excess returns of a stock

Chiari Malformation Research Paper
There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the
cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is
the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and
cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as
spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for
the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the
brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck.
This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is
extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different ,
n.d.).
There are several causes that can be associated with a Chiari malformation. Some of those causes are
associates with a structural defect of the spinal cord during fetal development, injury, or even a lack of
nutrients provided to the fetus during development. The cause associated with injury can be as a ...

Some are more pronounced than others depending on the type of malformation. However, the most
common symptoms are posterior headache on exertion with neck pain, hoarseness or swallowing
problems, sleep apnea, weakness or numbness in an extremity, and balance problems. A Chiari
malformation can be difficult to diagnose because of the multitude or signs and symptoms that are
associated with it and other diseases as well. For instance, the symptom that is associated with pain/
spinal problems can include neck pain, pain across the shoulder blades, chest pain, and curvature of
the spine. Each of those symptoms are associated with other disorders as to include; muscle issues,

  • 2. Simon Weisenthal Simon Weisenthal was a renowned Nazi hunter and Author. He was born on December 31st, 1908. He lived a heroic life and died on September 20, 2005. I am just here to explain his tales and misfortunes. Simon started off by being born in the Ukraine, but his parents soon packed up and took him along to Argentina. Growing up he did well in school and graduated from The Gymnasium in 1928 and applied to the Polytechnic Institute in Lvov. Turned away because of restrictions on Jewish students, he went to the Technical University of Prague instead, from which he received his degree in architectural engineering in 1932. In 1936, Simon married Cyla Mueller and worked in an architectural office in Lvov. They lived happily in their small town of Lvov ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After his life of nazi hunting, he moved back to his native land Austria. Used to his active lifestyle, he found himself doing nothing all day. He decided to spend his time more productively by writing down all that he remembered about being a concentration camp inmate. The book was about when he was a concentration camp inmate, Simon was taken from his cell to the bedside of a dying member of the SS. (Hitler s personal guards) Haunted by the crimes he has helped commit and watch in the past, he wanted to hear a jew say that he forgives him so he could die at peace. Faced with the choice of a man dying in peace, or silence and justice, he chose silence. The book was later published and titled Sunflower, a metaphor for a sunflower starting in a ground, in darkness, then eventually sprouting and basking in the sun. He started from ground zero, pretty much like a robot. Everyday he wakes up at the same time, eats the same lousy breakfast, works in the same factory, and sleeps at the same time. Then eventually his camp is liberated right before the nazis started liquidating the inmates population. Then he became a free man therefore has no restraints. Simon was also awarded many medals for his services as a Nazi hunter. 13 states dished out medals of honor, and France, Germany, England, and America. In conclusion, Simon Wiesenthal was most known for his time as a Nazi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Music Of Music And Music Essay The same colors of music have been used to paint unique masterpieces throughout history. From Mozart to Michael Jackson and Beethoven to Bob Marley, the behaviors of sound melodies, harmonies and chords have been manipulated by individuals to communicate their soul s message to the masses. The connections between music from the renaissance to contemporary tunes is quite surprising. The Beatles weren t the first ones to talk about love, life struggles or heartache. These have been common themes of everyone s lives since Adam and Eve. Bob Marley and Michael Jackson took their own personal experiences and paired it with the universal language of music to connect with people. Through a multitude of albums and singles, these two artists created timeless pieces of music, some of which are still present on the top charts. Although some disagree with the fact that their music is timeless, by comparing the music of Michael Jackson and Bob Marley to music that is known as timeless, one can see the direct correlation. Although good music is completely opinionated, timeless music has been boiled down to a science. Enrique Rubio, Engineer, Writer and student of music, takes the lessons conveyed by Mozart and narrows it down to four reasons why he is such a well known leader in the music world. His inspiration, desire for constant learning, ability to absorb and adapt knowledge by staying focused and unbiased learning process are the qualities he has deemed to be timeless ... • 4. Five Principles Of Tragedy Discuss the principles of tragedy as defined in Aristotle s Poetics. Illustrate these principles by examining Sophocles play Oedipus the King, in order to establish the link between the theory and practise of tragedy. Analyse the genre of tragedy as one that reveals dilemma and paradox. The advent of modern theater as we know it today began with the worship of Dionysus: the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness, fertility, theater and religious ecstasy in Greek mythology and a weeklong competition that welcomed the Spring in ancient Greece. Many great playwrights were introduced to the World by the means of this weeklong competition including Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Sophocles is perhaps one of the pioneers of the genre of tragedy and his plays Oedipus Rex, Antigone and Oedipus at Colonus have for centuries inspired contemporary playwrights and theater artists to venture deeper into the understanding of the complex idea of the individual versus fate. In this essay I intend to examine Aristotle s Poetics and the five principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Oedipus, Sophocles creates a character who s not only the king but, also the solver of the Sphinx s riddle and hence, can be recognised as a man portrayed better than he would ve been in real life: a man with an intricately defined moral compass and elevated social stature. Further examples of Oedipus as an ideal tragic hero can be derived out of the fact that he comes from a noble and prosperous background as he s the biological son of the Laius, king of Thebes and the adopted son of Polybus, the king of Corinth. He also is greatly revered in the society and respected as a very adept and benevolent king which is evident from the Priest s reference to him as the first of men. Although during the conflicts of World War II a lot of the countries became involved, such as Germany, France, Japan, and the United States which may have been caused some quarrel about how the fighting was taking place, and many agreements were signed; some believe that Germany started it all by making the bombings supposedly not a crime. The definition of total total war is, a war that is unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, the territory or combatants involved, or the objectives pursued, especially one in which the laws of war are disregarded. This definition shows how although the actions committed by the Royal Air Force of Great Britain may not have been good ideas, because it was total war, it was happening often during this time period. As stated in document 15 by J.M. Spaight Bombing Vindicated in 1994, the people who make and transport war material are, to the opposing belligerent, active, dangerous enemies. Spaight is stating how some may use the argument that most civilians are simply doing their work in factories and farms and are not bothering with the war. His argument is that although they may seem to be just doing their work, in reality the work of making and transporting weapons that could be use in the war against others means that these citizens are helping out directly. This seems to cause a valid argument from some perspectives; that although the killing of innocent civilians may seem unnecessary and cruel, if it were not for the bombing, then they would still contribute to the war by making weapons which would be a danger towards the enemy side. Bead Game is a stop motion animated film that was created by arranging single beads into shapes lines, mammals, and mythological creatures. Further into the film the creatures absorb and devour one another, creating other figures and creatures from the remaining beads. These beads end up evolving into scenes of modern human warfare. In the beginning of the film Patel begins with on simple white bead and continues to add other beads and color making his arrangements of the beads into animated figures. While the beads dance there is sound of percussion that compliments the movement of the beads due to the synchronization of both sound and movement in the animation. Patel animates the theory of human evolution by showing a monkey transforming into a caveman and then into present day human. The film is successful in synchronizing the characters towards the end of the film. Another historical event that is portrayed is ancient warfare, dating all the way back to what seems to be around 2700 BCE. I began to notice a pattern or a timeline up to this point, starting with the creation of life then going through important moments of the history of human creation. I think the creator of this film is trying to say that a design can start off as something so small and simple, and then fueled by creativity the design turns into an art form. This interpretation that I have made isn t obvious; it is just something that I took away from the animation after watching it. Something that is noticeable throughout this animation is how frequent the use of red is. Patel used red for his creatures that showed characteristics of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For many developers, this means more advertisement promotion of their games on the internet and on television or to try and improve their game to add more content for the buyers. As the case is for many other developers however, their solution in recent years seems to consist of using the tactic of microtransactions. As one may assume, this has led to many problems in the video game industry. Microtransactions are defined as, A very small financial transaction conducted online (Microtransactions, 2016). Since the term microtransaction is a relatively modern term, there is no true price range that has been established yet to define it by price. Typically, microtransactions are located inside of in game shops that require either real money, or some kind of in game currency. For smaller studios that do not have enough money to promote their game to be able to sell it for a fee and still become popular, microtransactions are one of their main sources of revenue from the game. Such themes further develop the plot of the story and help explain a universal purpose the story has. Throughout many of Shakespeare s written works, it can be noted that death, in particular suicide, is a relevant and ongoing theme that Shakespeare gives way to. Many chose to die than to have dishonor upon their name. It would be a burden that they would live with for the rest of their lives if their name was put to shame. Suicide was given the bad shoulder during this time, but many writers shined a light on it that further enhanced a work of literature. Shakespeare was one of the many writers that shined a light within the theme of suicide. Suicide in his works further enhanced the development of the story. This is because suicide is a recurring theme that gives way to understand the cultural impact that comes with being a mortal. Shakespeare opens the window to this developing theme that is shunned upon by society. In order to understand why suicide is a key theme that further develops a story, one has to understand the social repercussions that suicide holds during that time. In Shakespeare s Hamlet it can be noted that even though Hamlet did not go through with contemplated suicide, he still thought about whether he should go through the difficulties of life and keep on suffering. For instance, Shakespeare writes and by opposing end them (page.127, line 68). No one wants to live with pain and sorrow. From their perspective, doctor s help the suffering and terminally ill to die when they choose is nothing wrong. From what they had argued, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows people the right to freedom of speech, press, petition, religion. With this logic, it would be reasonable to believe that you are allowed to have the right to die. The right to assisted suicide can help the patients with the terminally ill to release from pain and suffering, reduce the damaging financial effects of hospital care on their families, and preserve the individual right of people to determine their own fate. However, on the negative side of the assisted suicide debate, It is argued that a physician s goal is to help their patient get the proper care and help they need in order to get better and heal; it should not be through killing them. From Procon.org, In Compassion in Dying v. State of Washington, it was stated that physician assisted suicides acts as a slippery slope to those who aren t terminally ill and will take advantage of it. Once we allow assisted suicides, it opens the way to offering it to people who are no longer mentally competent. And then to people who are in distress but not terminally ill. So this is saying that if anyone suffered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Natural Resource Of Natural Resources 1.1 Background and Introduction Over the last decade, the term natural resource curse has gained importance among resource rich countries; it claims that natural resource wealth is linked to poor economic growth (Sachs Warner, 2001). In other words, countries with an abundance of natural resources are less developed and tend to grow slower than resource poor countries (Sachs Warner, 2001). It may seem that having plenty of natural resources is a gift, yet the fact is economic growth in countries like Indonesia and Nigeria do not actually show that the profusion of natural resources are a blessing (The Economist, 2000). Expectation to have a high growth economy because of being rich in natural resources has gone. In fact, natural resources have been causing many major conflicts to those resource rich countries in terms of economics, international relations, and environment (Ross, 2003). Looking back on Indonesia s history, Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch for 3.5 centuries, the reason was simply because Indonesia is rich of natural resources, due to the limitations of natural resources, especially herbs and spices back in Netherlands (Cribb, n.d.). During that time the Dutch tried to get the natural resources as much as they could without considering the welfare of the Indonesian (Cribb, n.d.). Indonesia had been freed from the Dutch and Japanese, yet, until today after 65 years of attaining independence, the country has not been able to liberate its people ... • 39. The Inevitability Of Reality, By Edvard Munch The Inevitability of Reality Oscar Wilde once said, Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals. This quote explains that society is corrupt. People will only surround you when you are in the spotlight, but will depart when you hit rock bottom. The painting The Dance of Life, by Edvard Munch, portrays a life from beginning to completion. It is visible that the same woman is cloned, from a happier stage of life, to a dark, gloomy end. The Swimmer, by John Cheever, relates to this idea of the different experiences throughout the course of one s life. Later on, Neddy arrived at Enid Bunker s house to go through her pool. When he arrived, Ms. Bunker screams, Oh, look who s here! What a marvelous surprise! When Lucinda said that you couldn t come I thought I d die. (3) This shows us the peak of Neddy s reputation. Everyone wanted him to be at their party to make it seem as if it was worth coming to, since it was good enough for Neddy to join. Cheever continues the initial exchange saying, She made her way to him through the crowd, and when they had finished kissing she led him to the bar, a progress that was slowed by the fact that he stopped to kiss eight or ten other women and shake the hands of as many men. (3) This shows that Neddy is viewed on high standards and why Mrs. Bunker was so happy that he had shown up to her party. Neddy finishes his drink and then leaves to move on to the next pool. • 43. A Research Proposal On The Civil Rights Movement Abstract No matter varying ideas as to success, it is difficult to ignore that American culture has undergone immense changes since the 1950s. The Civil Rights movement, the emergence of feminism, and gay activism have literally revolutionized the society and how it functions, with many changes going to the promotion of equality and heightened awareness of the needs of others. At the same time, unfortunately, sexual criminality and violence remain critical issues, with women being the primary victims. The patriarchal foundation of the society has diminished, yet norms still providing men with entitlement remain in place, and this is a reality supported by modern research still referring to a rape culture. This same research also presents disturbing evidence of how young college students widely maintain norms affirming male dominance and aggression. No simple solution is then possible, and any effective course must rely on as in depth research as may be conducted. To that end, the following assessment of study on the subject concludes with a research proposal, and one utilizing Structural Functionalism Theory and the innate value in interviewing students in both collective and individual ways. To what extent do mainstream sexuality norms impact sexual criminality? It is inescapable that elements within a culture or society, and even of the most violent kinds, are linked to how that society functions and how its norms influence behavior. Socrates Argument On Fearing Death Fearing Death Socrates is taken to trial by his accusers for damaging and undignified the minds of the youth and not believing the gods, but believing in his own conception. Basically what Socrates did was encourage youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be charged with corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth. And if he did not mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates explains that his accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore, he should not be punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were not convinced so not only did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he was sentenced to death his sense of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked at as bad. I will explain the reasons why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also explain Socrates argument on why we should not fear death. Superficially it seems that he is a man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is obvious the Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are involved. If a man paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere. This is an example of the politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to the people, which in turn meant greedy men could act as paid saviors. Although a friar s job was to beg for the poor, the Friar used his position as a beggar for his own personal gain. It is described many times how the Friar kept company with people of means than the sick, poor and beggars. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is about a thieving and lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a summoner; most likely because the role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This feeling of distrust was mutual between the Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too many religious positions. Most importantly his tale shows the Friar as a hypocrite. • 46. Essay about An Ethical Theory Applied to Business... The object of this essay is to establish whether there is an ethical theory that can be successfully applied to business organizations. In order to answer this question, it is necessary first to define the major ethical theories, which are utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics, before determining whether there are any other options. After that, the ethical needs, problems and limitations of work organizations will have to be examined so that the different theories can be evaluated in this context. It will also be important to draw a distinction between the terms accurate and useful as these actually result in two different questions the answer to which need not necessarily be the same. Another essential part of this discussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this it has the property of universalisality in that the right action will be right for everyone. However, as a pragmatic and functional system of moral analysis, Utilitarianism has a number of difficulties. One of the major problems is the fact that it is extremely difficult to quantify happiness, and if it is not possible to decide which of several available actions produces the most happiness, it follows that it is not possible to decide which action is the right one. Also a particular action generating a high degree of happiness may have unforeseen consequences that have the opposite effect. Can it be morally right to have a completely innocent and well person killed if two seriously ill people could be saved by an organ transplantation? Is an action always and incontrovertibly right because it gives greatest happiness to the greatest number of people? Brady(1999) refutes this: the majority vote is not an ethic; it is a social choice technique. Deontology as promoted by Kant on the other hand denies that the right action is the one that produces the best consequences. It is based on a set of moral rules, and the right action is supposed to be the one that conforms with these rules, whereas certain other types of action are morally forbidden. These questions will be answered by a thorough analysis of the value, and the size premium. Value premium A lot of criticism on the CAPM has arisen over the last decades. One finding by Basu in 1977 is often used by opponents of the model in order to take down the foundation of the CAPM. Basu[3] found that stocks with a low price earnings ratio, called value stocks, tend to outperform stocks with a high price earnings ratio, named growth stocks. As the CAPM only allows for fundamental risk to explain excess returns on stocks, the finding that stocks from companies with high fundamentals (earnings, sales, dividends) relative to price outperformed growth stocks was in contradiction with the classical CAPM. Proponents of the CAPM and the efficient market argued that the value premium could be explained by their classical risk and return rewards, value stocks they argued earned higher returns due to higher risk related to poor performance in the recent history of the firm. Fama and French[4] however also concluded that the value premium did exist and even found in the same paper that the book to market ratio and size premium together were able to explain excess returns of a stock ... Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as spina bifida and myelomeningocele.
