Everything That Rises Must Converge Analysis
Flannery O Connor grew up immersed in the culture of the American South during the enactment
of the Jim Crow laws. Her short stories contributed immensely to the literary genre known as
Southern Gothic. She incorporated tone, imagery, and dialogue to showcase the way life existed
in the South. In Everything that Rises Must Converge, Julian s mother displayed a very ignorant
tone. Julian s mother is a very racist individual who supports the idea of segregation, which was a
very popular ideology back then. She said, They should rise, yes, but on their own side of the
fence, and felt sorry for the ones that were half white, despite the fact that buses became integrated
already. This racism was further demonstrated when she and her son got

Yeats Manipulation
Yeats ambivalence of his personal and political world is displayed through his manipulation of form
throughout his poetry. The Second Coming published in 1919 explores how chaos and destruction
was the cause of Yeats uncertainty of the worlds ability to become stable and peaceful. Easter 1916
published in 1921 highlights how through manipulating form Yeats can communicate his
uncertainty of the Rebels violence. Yeats modernist piece, The Second Coming utilises poetic form
to explore how the worlds characterisation of violence and disorder catalysed his uncertainty about
both the political world and his personal world. Beginning in media res, the tetrameter turning and

The consistent rhyme scheme 16 24 16 24 is reflective of the Easter Uprising which occurred on the
24th April 1916, this structured rhyme represents the military style of the uprising, reinforced
through symbolism of grey , a dark tone foreshadowing the nature of the uprising. Manipulating
form Yeats switches between iambic trimeter and iambic tetrameter styles, representing his
uncertainty about the Rebels actions. Yeats uses the colour symbolism of motely to explore his
mocking attitude towards the violent actions of Irish Rebels MacDonagh and MacBride ,
referencing their lack of impact and significance through the _________ polite meaningless words .
Although, Yeats experiences a realisation of the key role of MacDonagh and MacBride in
reconciling peace and unity within Ireland, he displays uncertainty about their use of violence.
Yeats uncertainty about the Rebels violence is represented through the oxymoronic frame that
closes each stanza, a terrible beauty is born reinforced through its repetition Yeats explore his
paradoxical feelings regarding the necessity of the rebel s violent actions, therefore reflecting his
ambivalence. Throughout the fourth stanza Yeats manipulates form through his repeated use of
question marks, further catalysing his uncertainty of violence and conflict. Yeats questions if all the
destruction and death that resulted from the Rebels violent actions was in fact needed to achieve
peace, reinforced through the ________ was it needless death after all? . In conclusion, in Easter
1916 , Yeats reflects on the Irish Rebels violence which resulted in death and destruction, through
manipulating the poems form to reflect their impact, on both himself and the

The Truth Of Auschwitz Concentration Camp
A large proportion of stories and poems that describe the truth of Auschwitz concentration camp are
written by the survivors who gets out of there. The author Tadeusz Borowski, who have been
through the deadly gas situation and he used his pen to telling people what truly happened in
Auschwitz. Just like what he mentioned in the short story, There can be no beauty if it is paid for
by human injustice, nor truth that passes over injustice in silence, nor moral virtue that
condones it. , he is the one record and make known to the public to remain everyone, that wars
never bring us peace, no matter what kind of reasons that careerists are using to cover their
ambition and evilness. In the novel, Borowski was watching a train which has carried brunch of
prisoners like him. There are darkness and chaos inside of the transport, people are starving and
helpless, they knew they were going to the place where is going to be the end of their life but
killing them slowly. When the transport arrived, prisoners are running away from the transport
to breath fresh air; however, Borowski also seems people are scavenging and sourcing food from
new arriver . They don t care about people that are still alive or not, the only thing they are
focusing on is anything that can help them fight with starving, it doesn t matter if that food is out
of date or decaying. Borowski is comparing them as a pig, Pigs! Tomorrow half of them will die of
the shits. , Pigs? You ve been hungry. ,

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Theme Essay
The theme of the book is basically good vs evil and split personality. Mr Utterson tries to solve
the case of Dr Jekyll s will that s linking to the mysterious man Mr Hyde. No one in London
knows who Mr Hyde is, and the few people who saw him described him as weird and slightly
deformed . In the first chapter, Mr Utterson said Mr Hyde is Not easy to describe . And that there
is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright
detestable , and He must be deformed somewhere; he gives a strong feeling of deformity,
although I couldn t specify the point. He s an extraordinary looking man . Dr Jekyll, on the
other hand, is a wealthy rich man in London and is well liked, respectable doctor. The two seems
nothing alike, which is why Mr Utterson is trying to crack the case of the link between Dr Jekyll

His appearance is a symbol of evil. Whenever someone looked at him they were instantly
disgusted at the sight of him. Much like Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll, their respective homes are very

appointed house, which has a great air of wealth and comfort. While the house that Mr Hyde
lives in is nothing like the house of Dr Jekyll. The main house symbolizes the wealth of Dr

block of building ...which bore in every feature the marks of profound and sordid negligence.

Eskimo Curlew Essay
The Eskimo curlew (Numenius borealis) is a medium sized shorebird with long legs and a long
thin, bill that curves downwards. The curlew s colors are usually mottled brown, on the upper
parts, while the breast and abdomen are a buff color. Some would describe its color as more of a
cinnamon . This pigeon sized bird belongs to the Class: Aves, Order: Charadriliformes, Family:
Scolopacidae, and Genus: Numenius. According to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the
Eskimo curlew is related to other shore birds such as Snipes, sandpipers, and phalaropes. According
to the wildlifeand fisheries of the Louisiana government, the curlew s status is as a critically
endangered speciesand now virtually extinct. It was listed in the United States on March 11,
1967. This means that any taking or harassment of this species is a violation of state and federal
laws. Due to this, it is very rare that there is a sighting of this small avian. The last known
sightings were stated to be seen in Galveston, Texas. The state element rank for the Eskimo curlew

Portugal. The profit margin were so large that it was worth it to conquer the territory and ship it

Because of the lack of a navy and policy controlling the trade Portugal was not only able to insert
itself into the trade but it was also able to take up glorified piracy in order to increase its already

to $35,000 an average student in the U.S. may borrow. While ultimately the main goal of a
college university is to recruit more students and increase their current knowledge. Many
universities focus on other aspects such as research development. Ball State happens to encourage
students and faculty to bring forth any research ideas they may have. Two programs called
Sponsored Projects Administration and Ball State Innovation Corporation (BSIC), is meant for
finding and funding new research opportunities, in attempt of educating others. The Rivers of

Cause and Effect Essay Factory Farms Cause Sickness and Pollution
There is little doubt that animals raised on small scale diverse farms are apt to be healthier. When
allowed to range freely, particularly in organically maintained yards and pastures, they receive more
exercise, their diet is more varied and they are exposed to commensal bacteria that help exclude, and
build resistance to, harmful pathogens. Some organic practitioners also argue that free ranging
animals actively seek out plants with medicinal properties that can build their resistance to illness,

The huge amounts of manure that the industrial livestock farms produce also represent a human

North Carolina, for example, factory hog farms produce ten million metric tonnes of waste annually,
equal to that produced by forty million people.
When heavy rains hit in 1999, numerous lagoons containing the manure burst.
In one case, two million gallons of hog waste spilled when a lagoon ruptured at a farm that raises
hogs for a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the United States. Such
manure spills were one reason the storm left 400,000 wells in North Carolina contaminated. Health

Chickering s Theory Of The Seven Vectors Of Student...
Chickering s Theory of the seven vectors of student development emerged from research in the
1950 s and 1960 s (Evans, Forney , Guido DiBrito, Patton, Renn, 2010). Since then Chickering
and Reisser have revised the vectors and research has been conducted to see how see the vectors
apply to different student populations (Evans et al., 2010). To test how relevant the vectors are to
today s college students, I interviewed three female college students, two freshman 18 year olds
and a 22 year old senior. Each interview was very different despite being asked the same questions.
They revealed that multiple vectors were still applicable to today s college students.
For example, the first student I interviewed was Anna, an 18 year old full time freshman who lives
on campus and is majoring in English Linguistics. She is very busy taking taking five classes,
working part time and socializing with friends she met at orientation over summer. While she is
enjoying life on campus, she is struggling with homesickness which puts her in the vector of
learning to manage her emotions. She recognizes that she is homesick, yet she is still learning to
accept and express this emotion in healthy ways (Evans et al., 2010). Such as, she regularly keeps
in touch with family, yet she also demonstrates a lack of acceptance of this emotion by trying to
distract herself from it by being overly busy with five classes, work, friends, and school events
which may burn her out and/or affect her

Preeclampsia is the new onset of hypertension and either proteinuria or end organ dysfunction after
20 weeks of gestation in a previously normotensive woman. Although most women develop signs of
the preeclampsia in late pregnancy with gradual worsening until delivery, a few studies have
reported delayed or new onset postpartum preeclampsia in patients with no antecedent diagnosis of

pathophysiology of preeclampsia involves abnormal placental vasculature and altered maternal

The Issue Of Legalizing Abortion Essay
Introduction State your Ethical Position on the issue upfront, with its ethical motivation. The
argument surrounding abortion is a very topical issue in our society and dates way back to
ancient days. The issue of legalizing abortion is a growing social concern as all life is sacred
and valued. However, in recent years there have been two ethical arguments by the Supreme
Court in legalizing abortion that of pro life and pro choice. Despite the legal acceptance of
abortion in some countries, the matter remains an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With
this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a deontological perspective. According to the
Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological emphasizes the relationship between duty and
morality of human actions. The term deontology derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos,
science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the defenseless human being whose life is being
unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life begins at conception the act of abortion
can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking someone s life. Abortion is an
infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow for someone to take the life
of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong. Subsequently, the bible
recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being after birth. Hence,
from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis

Characteristics Of Christian Worldview
According to Nelson a worldview is a conceptual framework of our view of the world, a belief
system that guides individual behavior (Esqueda 3). A worldview determines individual s
framework of an idea, approach of the world, and belief. A worldview also plays a significant role
in individual s life, it will affect how an individual views the reality, the value, moral, attitudes, and
character. A Christian worldview is man view the world through Christian faith. A Christian
worldview has demonstrated metaphysical, epistemological, and axiological views as well
contrasted with the metaphysical, epistemological, and axiological components of Atheist
worldview.
The Christian worldview analyzes the reality through the lens of the Bible. The metaphysical
Christian worldview believes God is self existent independently and He is the creator. The Bible
simply declares that God is independent of all outside of Himself. There are few scriptures
convey the existence of God. In the book of Genesis says In the beginning, God created the
heavens and earth (Genesis 1:1), and the book Exodus God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM
(Exodus 3:14). God also created the universe and everything in it In Him, we live, move, and
have our being (Acts 17:28, NIV). God is the only self existent, everything exists because of God
created. Paul says For since the creation of the world God s invisible qualities his creation power

own overall productivity В— and made it impossible for any competitor to survive without
emulating its template. All the same its corporate culture has lent it a certain strategic complexity
that makes it difficult to emulate.
Economies of Scale
The scale of Wal Mart s operations has given it primarily two advantages:
Learning curve effect: Un matched expertise in retail business in the US has lead to very high
productivity levels. Years of trial and error with various store formats and distribution channels has
resulted increased organizational leaning and reduced operational costs.
Cash Reserves: This enables Wal Mart to respond to changes in the environment and competitor
moves very quickly. It also enables expansion plans with exactly causing a lock out since there is
no dearth of funds.

How The Corrupt Church In The Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales, the characters are on a pilgrimage to Sir Thomas Beckett s grave;
although many of these pilgrims are seemingly pious members of the church, many of these men
and women are creating a new religion which is corrupt from the beginning due to lying, cheating,
and leaders who do not practice the religion which they teach. These corrupt religious leaders who
are mentioned in The Canterbury Talesinclude; the Monk, the Friar, the Prioress, and the Pardoner.
Although, there are many corrupt church members, Chaucer does include some good church
members such as the Parson and his brother, the Plowman. Unlike the other church members, these
pilgrims care for the sick and the poor, and they are not involved in the fake ornateness of the
Catholic church. Many of the corrupt members of the church are only religious leaders due to the
money, and the fact that members of the church are considered part of the upper class. Due to all of
this corruption that Chaucer mentions, it is likely that he believed that corruption was the rule,
rather than it being the exception to the rule.

Some people that are honest members of the church include the Parson, and the Plowman. The
Parson was a poor man, but he was rich in the thoughts of Christ. Rather than condeming his

money to help them. Furthermore, he never neglected his parshioners, in either rain or horrid
weather he would go and preach to his parshioners. Whatever his message was he preached it and
then he practiced it. This Parson believed that it is impossible to lead parshioners if the parson is
full of sins. Besides the Parson, the other uncorrupt pilgrim was the Plowman. He devoted his

Section 8 Housing Case Study
I chose to focus on the rent voucher/section 8 housing, because it is very common in my town
and the surrounding towns I grew up in. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could
afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as
section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord,
who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income
for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8
housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because
their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive
section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and
business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of
dishonest officials (Palen, 255). The construction of new low income housing has seen its share of
failures in the past , which is why rent vouchers tend to be more common rather than building a
whole low income housing unit that could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Resilience And Positive Adaptation
With the rise of positive psychology, resilience and positive adaptation have become a field of
research in themselves. Resilience has various definitions but is broadly accepted to mean a
dynamic, evolving process of positive attitudes and effective strategies that we employ in response
to life stressors (Jensen, Trollope Kumar, Waters, Everson, 2008). Masten, Best and Garmezy
(1990) defines resilienceas the process of, capacity for, or outcome of successful adaptation despite
challenging or threatening circumstances (p. 425). The American Psychological Association
defines resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats,
or significant sources of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or
workplace, and financial stressors (American Psychological Association [APA], 2011).... Show

Improving Phonological Awareness
It is often understood that educators are charged with the responsibility to educate children in a
holistic way. As such, educators must have the best interest of their students at heart if their
objective is to teach well. They can prevent the students from failure when they recognize that their
students are not heading in the path to success. It is greatly recognize that readingis essential in the
development of a child as previous mentioned, Davis and Davis (2014) referered to reading as the
building block of life. The different studies analyzed on the correlation of phonological awareness
and reading exposed that phonological awareness is an important factor in learningto read or
improving reading skills in struggling reads. However, there are other skills that a child s need
to master for him/her to become an avid reader. As documented in this study, there have been
many intense studies for over the past three decade on struggling readers lacking phonological
awareness. Being a struggling reader can lead to their low academic performance in core subject
areas like Math and English may lead them to develop low self esteem to the point where they stop

Any who were at high risk or some risk had to have daily check ups from health officials for a

Stage V Policy Change: Based on what you learned in the evaluation of the policy, is it
necessary to revise the policy? Why or why not? In your opinion, what would have to happen for
the policy to change? Basing my analysis on what I ve previously learned about the policies, I
believe it would be necessary to constantly check and revise the policies on Ebola. These revisions
would help to make any improvements to the system possible and ensure the highest regulations on
safety for the general public would be set.
Stage VI Policy Termination: Should this public policy be ended? What factors would lead to
termination of this public policy? Who has the most to gain from maintaining the policy and who
has the most to lose?
I do not believe at all that these public policies should be stopped or terminated. These policies

Similarities Between Han China And Rome
In the first few centuries C.E., two of the largest empires ever in the world collapsed within 100
years of each other, and in many of the same ways. Although both Rome and Han China both
differed in that Han China experienced natural disasters, while Rome did not, ultimately they are
more similar because their militaries played a large part in their downfall, both empires had
problems defending themselves, and both were ravaged by disease and food shortages.
The downfalls of Ancient Rome and Han China differed in that in Han China, the rapid population
growth in earlier Han times gradually resulted in the deforestation of large areas of land. Without
trees to help absorb rainfall and hold the loose soil in place, flooding and erosion occurred.

The Politics Of Refugee Relief
The Civil War in Syria has raged on for over six years now, and over half of the population has
fled or died in the war torn country. A constant rain of bombings, bullets and fires that burn down
their communities plague the cities of Syria. It is due to this that the large number of fleeing
refugees from the Middle East is continuing to grow. This is directly affecting the conditions of the
refugeecamps that are willing to house the majority of refugees. Therefore, the effect is growing
more unacceptable. It does seem that the camps are able to support these numbers, and some of the
asylum seekers are choosing to go elsewhere. The places that many are finding refuge are several

Chaos still runs rampant in the towns, rather than being safe havens for those who are seeking
shelter. The presence of war is still undeniable, and the presence of gangs is slowly rising within
the camps. In a camp in Za atari Jordan, the leaders of gangs are on the rise. In the article The
Politics of Refugee Relief. Dissent, the author addresses the issue directly by reviewing them as
powerful individuals and organized gangs [that] have imposed their will on sections of the
camp, diverting assistance and engaging in criminal activities. (para. 3) . These leaders were
once people of importance in their hometowns back in Syria. Therefore the residents of the
camps easily let them take on power within their section of the camp. According to Clarke, the
gang leaders took part in activities such as run[nning] illegal businesses or smuggling operations
(as in Lebanon, Syrians cannot legally work in Jordan), and some deliberately diverted aid and
goods to their own constituents in the camp. (para. 4) . Why is it that, in a place that is meant to
be refuge for patrons of war, they are still facing the violent actions of gang leaders and illegal
activity? The answer is simple and written clearly in the desert sand: these people are trying so
desperately to find solitude again, but are being denied the most basic principles of a stable life.

Modern Federal, State, And Local Governments
Modern federal, state, and local governments must deal with changes in technology and changes in
society and culture. One emerging technology is the proliferation of drone technology in the hands
of private citizens. Christ Pritchard, writing in Journal Of The Australian New Zealand Institute Of
Insurance Finance, suggests that [c]urrent usage patterns show it s a safe bet that drones are
destined to play an increasingly important role in business relationships (Pritchard, 2015). Once
solely in the hands of professional organizations and governmentactivities, drone technology is now
more available to hobbyists and casual users.
The role of local government, and by extension public administrators, is always under review by
its citizens. Because the job of government is to legislate and make decisions in areas over which
they have legislative authority (VMA, 2012) and to develop and implement policy, local
governments must be able to react to emerging technologies and provide a safe environment for its
citizens.
Drones Here and Now In January 2014, the done technology was still emerging as a high dollar
endeavor for government agencies and wealthy hobbyists. Two years later, an advanced drone
can be purchased online with overnight delivery from hundreds of different websites. In 2014,
Governing Magazine wrote that the use of drones is allowed by the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) on a case by case basis, largely for public and research use by law

Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass, was a night of organized violent assault
on the Jews on November 9, 1938. Although it appeared to be a spontaneous response to a Jewish
teenager s assassination of a German ambassador in Paris, this event was, in fact, a thoroughly
organized attack on the Jews. As the name of the incident suggests, two day long violent outbreak
was detrimental. Not only were Sturmabteilung set loose to ransacking Jewish stores and homes,
civilians also participated in the series of attacks against the Jews. Over 250 synagogues were
targeted; they were destructed, burned, and vandalized. Moreover, over 7,000 businesses were
shattered. Plundered Jewish owned properties were often redistributed to German citizens. During
this massive coordinated attack, approximately 100 Jews were killed, and approximately 30,000
Jews were sent to concentration camps, such as Dachau, Buchenwald, and Sachsenhausen.
Although brutally treated, the prisoners were released if they could prove that they were able to

became social outcasts; they were aggressively dissimilated from the society, marginalized from

Hamlet: Seems Versus Is
Throughout the tragic play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, there are a multitude of characters
who seem to act one way but, below the surface, are completely different than they are portrayed.
These characters hide behind their own disguise, masking their true identities. The motif Seems
Versus Is is brought to the reader s attention in Hamletbecause it shows that although people might
seem to be one way, they can be completely different on the inside. These disguises serve as
obstacles for Hamlet to overcome throughout the play.
Polonius, the chief counselor to the king, is a character who seems to be a loving, charismatic man
and father who only wants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Claudius also seems like a respectable king because he mourns the death of King Hamlet and
tells [the] whole kingdom to be contracted in one brow of woe (21). Although Claudius seems to
be a good king who is deeply saddened by the death of the late King Hamlet, he is actually a
horrible man who murdered King Hamlet in a way most foul,...strange and unnatural (57). He
took his crown and acted as if his death was an accident. Claudius makes it difficult for Hamlet to
uncover the truth behind his actions because he constantly acts like nothing is ever wrong. After
many different plots against Claudius, Hamlet prevails and the real Claudius is exposed. Claudius
played an important role in the play because he reinforced the motif Seems Versus Is and showed
the reader that although people can come across as honest and respectable, deep down they can
have an evil side.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are characters in Hamlet who have a more complex side to them
than one might assume. Hamlet sees them as good friends who have always been there for him,
such as after his father s death when they came to visit [him]; no other occasion (99). Although
they acted as good friends to Hamlet, in reality they were manipulative and deceitful. The two
characters had a darker side because they acted as Claudius and Gertrude s spies. Near the end of the
play, Claudius, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern

A Brief Note On Barriers Faced By Women During...
3.1 Scope of the Chapter This chapter aims to critically analyse the contributions to the topic of
barriers faced by women in the construction industry with a view to evaluate the existing and
current theory, policy, and practice. Through the literature review, the major barriers to women in
construction such as the image of the industry, career knowledge, workplace culture and
environment and family commitments will be examined along with other possible barriers. The
relevant policies and best practice guideline promoting gender equality and offering better
opportunities for women in construction and the extent to which the policies meet the government
and the industry expectations will be reviewed and analysed. 3.2 The Status of Women in
Construction The predominant image of construction is that of a male dominated industry requiring
brute strength and a good tolerance for outdoor conditions, inclement weather and bad language
(Agapiou, 2002). It is interesting that people s perception of the industry is rooted in the past,
however, the real image of the construction industry is changing: robotic technologies are replacing
manual labour, corporate culture is promoting gender equality, and flexible working hours are
being introduced. The image problem occurs as schools and colleges do not always consider the
industry as a feasible career option and, moreover, the media does not portray the construction
industry positively; giving preference to programmes on

More specifically a teen has a even more difficult time with financial issues. Mainly because now
she or both young adults has to face reality on how much it contends to be in being in the
position that they re parents had went through with them. At this time it becomes her
responsibility. Making it more difficult because as she s learning to take care of the baby, the
baby has a constant imprints on the mother. Whatever she does and teaches, the baby is going to
take after her. Meaning however the baby grows, whether its a boy or girl. She or he takes her
personality and make it their own. It all goes down from carrying the baby to sitting in the
hospital delivering the baby to continuously having to get stuff that are needed for the baby, till
they grow up and be on their own. Everything starts to be a cost when having a baby in the

Symbolism In My Papa s Waltz, By Theodore Roethke
In the poem My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke, the interpretation of the poem
depends on the readers` perspective. Some people think that this poem is one of a happy
exchange between a father and son. Others believe that it has a hidden message of child abuse.
In my point of view, the imagery and language, the symbolism, and tone in My Papas Waltz gave
me the impression of the abusive relationship between the father and son, but then later realizing
the positive side. After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically
assumed this poem had negative meaning. The first two lines state, The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning The father has been drinking, and not just a
little. He s so intoxicated that even the smell of his breath could make a small boy, like his son,
feel a bit woozy. This gives a first impression of a father being intoxicated who has the ability to
harm the child. For most it is not a great situation when a drunken adult presents himself to a
child. This poem could be seen as a depiction of a young boy s experience of abuse from his
father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s frightful feeling from having to face a
drunken father. The image in my head here is that of the father and his child waltzing around the
kitchen with the boy having to hold on like death. The word death could have been intended to
emphasize the helplessness of the child against his drunken

Why Is Don John A Villain
Bastard, a child born out of wedlock, an illegitimate descendant that deserves to be slapped. Don
John, coined as Shakespeare s most passive villain is plagued by the society of Messina that
rejected him from the very moment of birth. Looking through the idea of predetermined roles in
life, we can come to realize the roots of Don John s agitation arises from his illegitimacy,
stacking him at the bottom of the social hierarchy. Here he feels obliged to act the part of the
villain, delegated by his very own blood. What exactly determines the words written on this label
of hero vs villain? How much comes from inner predisposition, from personal destiny, from mere
interpretation? Is someone obliged to become a hero or villain by virtue of their existence, or are
heroes and villains molded over time with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

respect. Now I m sure you can come to see where the bitterness and spurn arose from, things he
had no control over defined his life, fitting him with more than enough motivation to spoil the
happiness of the residents of Messina. Yet being a shakespearean comedy, focused on displaying
the comic and follies of misunderstandings, it can fairly said he lacks the depth and development of
some of Shakespeare s darker villains from tragedies, rendering him an underdeveloped and
arguably uninteresting antagonist. Melancholy and sullen by nature, he ironically believes that his
brooding makes him appear strong, but it actually shows him to be a coward. Don John is too
caught up in self pity to do anything that could better his life, so he simply lives to destroy the

A Modest Proposal A Satire
In 1757 Jonathan Swift wrote A Modest Proposal; a satire telling the public that the answer to
the economic problem was to eat their own children (Lynch). According to Merriam Webster,
satire is trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly ( Satire ). Satire
uses humor, exaggeration, parody, and ridicule to expose folly in society or a person and
advocates for some sort of change. Satireis broken into three different forms: Juvenalian, Horatian,
and Menippean satire. Satire is typically thought of as funny or humorous, but this assumption only
covers Horatian or Menippean satire; this leaves out Juvenalian. Juvenalian satire is a harsh satire.
It bombards vice with ridicule and contempt by bringing to light... Show more content on

Satire always has a purpose. If a reader truly wants to understand, the Why? has to be asked. Behind
every work of satire, there is a why. The writer wants the readers to read his or her work and leave
with a desire to change. A Modest Proposalby Jonathan Swift is, again, an example of this. To the
casual reader, it would seem that Swift was writing a horrible proposal. He or she may even pick
up on the fact that his satire is Juvenalian satire and the techniques he used but without the Why?
the purpose is lost. Swift saw the pitiful situation that the Irish people were in and he also saw
that at least part of it was self inflicted. The Irish people were just letting the English subject them
to high taxing and oppression, and Swift could see this. The purpose of him writing A Modest
Proposal was to get the Irish people to do something about their circumstances. He shocked his
readers in having this realization. The purpose of the satire is the most important part of any satire.
The writer is advocating for a change from people, usually for the better. The techniques and
methods are just different pathways the writer can take on his or her road to voicing

The new agreement addresses the shifting preferences of consumers who appear more reluctant
to buy DVDs in a shaky U.S. economy and a wider array of entertainment options. Terms of the
latest deal also cover Warner Bros. titles made available for streaming to Netflix customers.
Streaming is an increasingly important part of the company s strategy in the digital age; the
number of subscribers who streamed a movie or television episode from Netflix jumped by 20%
over the third quarter of last year. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, owned by Time WarnerInc.

The research will be based on ERP systems Web Distributed Business Solutions. This report will
discuss the concept, architecture, process and application of the system solution. There will also be
examples given on how industrial businesses implement this technology into their daily operations
and how it has benefitted them.
Concept
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP is one complete system to rationalise processes
and data across the whole organisation, so business decisions can be data driven. The perception of
ERP is a joint database that supports numerous purposes used by different business elements which

however, Legacy ERP vendors are starting to use cloud based services to perform some
functions of ERP, mainly those who depend on by mobile users. Cloud based ERP modules are
built to be loosely joined, which can reduce the cost and difficulty of a Deployment. Currently
some businesses are using hybrid cloud deployments in which part of the ERP software suite runs
on premises and the other part runs on the cloud. The advantage of using SaaS ERP is that the
system could start running, automatic upgrades and as well as reduction in hardware and support
expenses. (SearchERP, 2017) (CompuData, 2017)
The most common ERP deployment used is either on premises or cloud based, which is a standard
huge system from one vendor, generally a large legacy vendor. Though there are many organisations
now that run multiple ERP systems under one environment, generally known as the two tier or
multi tier ERP. The reason behind is that it includes geographic variances in the organisation.
(SearchERP, 2017)
ERP has few software deployments modules that are used within an organisation which can be
integrated easily with other systems that the organisation uses. Below is the detailed list of core
modules that are in many ERP software s.

The Elements Of The Adversarial Trial System
Adversarial Trial System
Australian courts use the adversary system of trial when resolving disputes. It is a system based on
the notion of two adversaries battling in an arena before an impartial third party, with the emphasis
on winning.
Elements of the adversarial system
The role of the judge
The role of the parties
The role of legal Representation
Burden and standard of proof
Rules of evidence and procedure
Role of the judge
Acts as an umpire. Is independent and impartial.
Make sure both parties follow the rules of evidence and procedure.
Deem whether or not the evidence is admissible or inadmissible.
Ensures both parties have equal time to present their cases.
Responsible for instructing the jury regarding the application of law.
Determines verdict and hands down sanctions if there is no jury.
They have a passive role. They have legal knowledge and expertise but they are there to fairly
oversee and adjudicate the trial.
Role of the parties
Parties have complete control over the preparation/presentation of their case.
Parties decide which arguments they will present , which points of law should be considered and
which witnesses to call.
In criminal law, the initiating party is the prosecution. The accused has an opportunity to plead
guilty or not and then present their account.
In civil law, initiation party is the plaintiff and they can choose which court will hear their case and
if there is a jury.
Parties have an active role in the system.

Faults of Standardized Tests Essay
Faults of Standardized Tests
Throughout the United States, students are being held accountable for the scores they receive after
taking a standardized test. These tests, many would argue, appear to be bias toward minorities, and
especially Hispanic students. More specifically though, the SATis apparently under great scrutiny
since it has long lasting, controversial effects on these students.
History
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), created by Carl Brigham of Princeton University, was
introduced in 1926 by the College Board [1]. The SAT is an attempt to predict how well a student
will perform during their first year of college without measuring past academic achievement. The

State Because affirmative action is being done away with in the college admissions process
(Hopwood vs. Texas 1996) [2], many civil rights activists have come to the conclusion that the de
emphasis or even the elimination of standardized admissions are the key to maintaining diversity
on college campuses [3]. They also fear that heavy reliance on this test will continue to cause low
Hispanic enrollment as well as whiteouts on college campuses [3].
National Several colleges across the nation place heavy emphasis on these scores when admitting
students even though test makers acknowledge that high school grade point average (GPA) or
class rank are the best predictors of first year grades, despite the huge variation among high schools
and courses [4].
Many Hispanic students are discouraged to attend college because their scores are remarkably
lower than those of white students. Furthermore, these high achieving students who did well in
high school, will not qualify for the scholarships deserving to them, and moreover desperately
needed to attend college because they do not meet the SAT score requirement for these scholarships
[5]. Left with no other options, many Hispanic students are forced to join the workforce in
minimum wage paying jobs or enter the military. Still others may turn to

The Pros And Cons Of US Military Bases
The Pros and Cons of US military bases overseas
Lee Mueller
Dr. Sooh Rhee Ryu
POLS 260
16 December 2016
According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James R. Blaker, military bases are
installations routinely used by military forces that supply their personnel with the means and
equipment to respond to a threat within the land it occupies (The Editors, 2011). As the world s
only superpower, the US possesses more military bases in foreign countries than any other state in
the entire world. In the year 2015, it was reported that the US had approximately 800 military
bases in more than 70 countries worldwide (Vine, 2015). By projecting power abroad, the US

To answer this we must look at the stability and political environments that encompass a state
because they play a large role in the ability of other actors to occupy land that it controls. For this
reason, the US should only associate with countries that follow their same beliefs. The US must be
cautious as to what countries that they decide to ally themselves with in order to analyze potential
political outcomes (Lostumbo, Michael J., McNerney, Michael J., Peltz, Eric, 2013). Factors that
can play a role can include a countries economic growth, annual GDP, or if there is ethnic conflict
within the territory. If analyzed in an efficient way, the argument can be made to allow for the

  • 2. Everything That Rises Must Converge Analysis Flannery O Connor grew up immersed in the culture of the American South during the enactment of the Jim Crow laws. Her short stories contributed immensely to the literary genre known as Southern Gothic. She incorporated tone, imagery, and dialogue to showcase the way life existed in the South. In Everything that Rises Must Converge, Julian s mother displayed a very ignorant tone. Julian s mother is a very racist individual who supports the idea of segregation, which was a very popular ideology back then. She said, They should rise, yes, but on their own side of the fence, and felt sorry for the ones that were half white, despite the fact that buses became integrated already. This racism was further demonstrated when she and her son got ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Yeats Manipulation Yeats ambivalence of his personal and political world is displayed through his manipulation of form throughout his poetry. The Second Coming published in 1919 explores how chaos and destruction was the cause of Yeats uncertainty of the worlds ability to become stable and peaceful. Easter 1916 published in 1921 highlights how through manipulating form Yeats can communicate his uncertainty of the Rebels violence. Yeats modernist piece, The Second Coming utilises poetic form to explore how the worlds characterisation of violence and disorder catalysed his uncertainty about both the political world and his personal world. Beginning in media res, the tetrameter turning and turning in the widening gyre , highlights Yeats belief in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The consistent rhyme scheme 16 24 16 24 is reflective of the Easter Uprising which occurred on the 24th April 1916, this structured rhyme represents the military style of the uprising, reinforced through symbolism of grey , a dark tone foreshadowing the nature of the uprising. Manipulating form Yeats switches between iambic trimeter and iambic tetrameter styles, representing his uncertainty about the Rebels actions. Yeats uses the colour symbolism of motely to explore his mocking attitude towards the violent actions of Irish Rebels MacDonagh and MacBride , referencing their lack of impact and significance through the _________ polite meaningless words . Although, Yeats experiences a realisation of the key role of MacDonagh and MacBride in reconciling peace and unity within Ireland, he displays uncertainty about their use of violence. Yeats uncertainty about the Rebels violence is represented through the oxymoronic frame that closes each stanza, a terrible beauty is born reinforced through its repetition Yeats explore his paradoxical feelings regarding the necessity of the rebel s violent actions, therefore reflecting his ambivalence. Throughout the fourth stanza Yeats manipulates form through his repeated use of question marks, further catalysing his uncertainty of violence and conflict. Yeats questions if all the destruction and death that resulted from the Rebels violent actions was in fact needed to achieve peace, reinforced through the ________ was it needless death after all? . In conclusion, in Easter 1916 , Yeats reflects on the Irish Rebels violence which resulted in death and destruction, through manipulating the poems form to reflect their impact, on both himself and the ... Mr Utterson tries to solve the case of Dr Jekyll s will that s linking to the mysterious man Mr Hyde. No one in London knows who Mr Hyde is, and the few people who saw him described him as weird and slightly deformed . In the first chapter, Mr Utterson said Mr Hyde is Not easy to describe . And that there is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright detestable , and He must be deformed somewhere; he gives a strong feeling of deformity, although I couldn t specify the point. He s an extraordinary looking man . Dr Jekyll, on the other hand, is a wealthy rich man in London and is well liked, respectable doctor. When allowed to range freely, particularly in organically maintained yards and pastures, they receive more exercise, their diet is more varied and they are exposed to commensal bacteria that help exclude, and build resistance to, harmful pathogens. Some organic practitioners also argue that free ranging animals actively seek out plants with medicinal properties that can build their resistance to illness, When Livestock production is carried out on a scale that suits the global market, however, huge numbers of animals are kept in tightly confined conditions, and ... An epidemiologist for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that among public health officials Віthere is no controversy about where antibiotic resistance in food borne pathogens comes fromВІ: the heavy use of antibiotics is to blame. The huge amounts of manure that the industrial livestock farms produce also represent a human health risk. In the Cape Fear region of North Carolina, for example, factory hog farms produce ten million metric tonnes of waste annually, equal to that produced by forty million people. When heavy rains hit in 1999, numerous lagoons containing the manure burst. In one case, two million gallons of hog waste spilled when a lagoon ruptured at a farm that raises hogs for a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the United States. Such manure spills were one reason the storm left 400,000 wells in North Carolina contaminated. Health officials expressed concern that an outbreak of gastrointestinal and other diseases, such as pathogenic E. coli, might be caused by contaminated drinking water. • 12. Chickering s Theory Of The Seven Vectors Of Student... Chickering s Theory of the seven vectors of student development emerged from research in the 1950 s and 1960 s (Evans, Forney , Guido DiBrito, Patton, Renn, 2010). Since then Chickering and Reisser have revised the vectors and research has been conducted to see how see the vectors apply to different student populations (Evans et al., 2010). To test how relevant the vectors are to today s college students, I interviewed three female college students, two freshman 18 year olds and a 22 year old senior. Each interview was very different despite being asked the same questions. They revealed that multiple vectors were still applicable to today s college students. For example, the first student I interviewed was Anna, an 18 year old full time freshman who lives on campus and is majoring in English Linguistics. She is very busy taking taking five classes, working part time and socializing with friends she met at orientation over summer. While she is enjoying life on campus, she is struggling with homesickness which puts her in the vector of learning to manage her emotions. She recognizes that she is homesick, yet she is still learning to accept and express this emotion in healthy ways (Evans et al., 2010). Such as, she regularly keeps in touch with family, yet she also demonstrates a lack of acceptance of this emotion by trying to distract herself from it by being overly busy with five classes, work, friends, and school events which may burn her out and/or affect her ... Recently I brought this matter to your attention and I appreciate your cooperation on my choice to transfer to a new unit. However, when I called the office last week to simply get an apartment number (to reserve a moving company in advance) a representative stated, That you had already gave me one apartment and I turned it down . That comment was shocking to me and my situation. I explained in your office that the building you wanted to move me into was directly in front of the spot where the non tenant hides his vehicle. I would be putting myself back into the hopeless situation I m in now. That is the only reason I turned the apartment down. Please understand I have lived here since the day this building opened and aside from the cat urine issue, I have been a model tenant. When the cleaning crew walked in on me changing clothes by mistake I let the matter go, when my apartment became infested with silverfish (coming outof my electrical sockets and walls I did not complain, and now that I have a serious situation that is escalating daily, I came to you for help. • 18. The Issue Of Legalizing Abortion Essay Introduction State your Ethical Position on the issue upfront, with its ethical motivation. The argument surrounding abortion is a very topical issue in our society and dates way back to ancient days. The issue of legalizing abortion is a growing social concern as all life is sacred and valued. However, in recent years there have been two ethical arguments by the Supreme Court in legalizing abortion that of pro life and pro choice. Despite the legal acceptance of abortion in some countries, the matter remains an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a deontological perspective. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological emphasizes the relationship between duty and morality of human actions. The term deontology derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos, science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the defenseless human being whose life is being unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life begins at conception the act of abortion can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking someone s life. Abortion is an infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow for someone to take the life of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong. Subsequently, the bible recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being after birth. Hence, from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis ... Many of the corrupt members of the church are only religious leaders due to the money, and the fact that members of the church are considered part of the upper class. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord, who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8 housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of dishonest officials (Palen, 255). • 39. Modern Federal, State, And Local Governments Modern federal, state, and local governments must deal with changes in technology and changes in society and culture. One emerging technology is the proliferation of drone technology in the hands of private citizens. Christ Pritchard, writing in Journal Of The Australian New Zealand Institute Of Insurance Finance, suggests that [c]urrent usage patterns show it s a safe bet that drones are destined to play an increasingly important role in business relationships (Pritchard, 2015). Once solely in the hands of professional organizations and governmentactivities, drone technology is now more available to hobbyists and casual users. The role of local government, and by extension public administrators, is always under review by its citizens. Because the job of government is to legislate and make decisions in areas over which they have legislative authority (VMA, 2012) and to develop and implement policy, local governments must be able to react to emerging technologies and provide a safe environment for its citizens. Drones Here and Now In January 2014, the done technology was still emerging as a high dollar endeavor for government agencies and wealthy hobbyists. Two years later, an advanced drone can be purchased online with overnight delivery from hundreds of different websites. In 2014, Governing Magazine wrote that the use of drones is allowed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on a case by case basis, largely for public and research use by law enforcement ... It is interesting that people s perception of the industry is rooted in the past, however, the real image of the construction industry is changing: robotic technologies are replacing manual labour, corporate culture is promoting gender equality, and flexible working hours are being introduced. • 49. Symbolism In My Papa s Waltz, By Theodore Roethke In the poem My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke, the interpretation of the poem depends on the readers` perspective. Some people think that this poem is one of a happy exchange between a father and son. Others believe that it has a hidden message of child abuse. In my point of view, the imagery and language, the symbolism, and tone in My Papas Waltz gave me the impression of the abusive relationship between the father and son, but then later realizing the positive side. After reading the first line of Roethke s piece, My Papas Waltz, I automatically assumed this poem had negative meaning. The first two lines state, The whiskey on your breath Could make a small boy dizzy (Lines 1 2). Meaning The father has been drinking, and not just a little. He s so intoxicated that even the smell of his breath could make a small boy, like his son, feel a bit woozy. This gives a first impression of a father being intoxicated who has the ability to harm the child. For most it is not a great situation when a drunken adult presents himself to a child. This poem could be seen as a depiction of a young boy s experience of abuse from his father. But I hang on like death seems to show a child s frightful feeling from having to face a drunken father. The image in my head here is that of the father and his child waltzing around the kitchen with the boy having to hold on like death.
