A Very Brief Biography of Albert Einstein
To become a scientist is not an easy path. You start from zero and have to start making people believe
in you. That is one of the hardest task you have to do as a scientist but along come other task. You
have to go through a lot of experiments and trial and error. People may start believing your thoughts
and equations. The fact that they believe them does not make you a scientist until you can prove your
theory. Albert Einstein for decades had the best thoughts but was not consider a scientist until he had
physically proved his theory.
Albert Einstein was considered a middle class Jew. He was born March 14, 1879 in Württemberg,
Germany. Albert Einstein family relocated to Munich, Germany and he began to go to school there.
When he was a going to school things that got his attention were math, science and music. Even
though he was interested in those subjects he dropped out of school 1894 as, many teens do. Then
relocated himself in Switzerland in 1902 were he ended up going back to school. When he began
going to school there he started to take a science course. Einstein father passed away thinking his son
was a disgrace to the family.
Albert Einstein was a ladies man he would play his violin at ladies lunches and cocktail parties.
Although, he was a ladies man he fell in love with the only girl in his physics class. During these
times many parents opposed to their child marriage and Albert Einstein parents were one of them. His
parents were against that marriage

Nairobi Research Paper
The city of Nairobi was established at the end of the 19th century as a small primitive town that is
located on the rout of the railway connecting Uganda with Mombasa in Kenya. The town kept on
developing to become the capital of the Eastern Africa British Colony in 1907. In 1963, Nairobi
became the capital of the Republic of Kenya and one of the interesting cities many tourists who travel
to Kenya would pay a visit.
In this period of time, Nairobi was a center for the trading of coffee, tea, and some other herbs. With
time passing by, many new establishments were founded in the city and it flourished to reach this

The wide collection of animals includes lions, unicorns, tigers, many reptiles, and a huge number of

must visit for travelers who spend their vacations in Kenya and visit Nairobi.
If tourists who visit Kenya only have a few hours to enjoy the natural beauty of the capital, the best
advice is to visit the Uhura National Park. Situated near the commercial hub of the city, the park
would be an amazing place for picnics and hanging out. Featured with its greenery and natural
sceneries, tourists have fun for a couple of hours before they go on with their tour in Kenya.
There is also the Nairobi National Museum that is the largest in the country. The museum illustrates
the history of Kenya through several displays including handcrafts, fossils of extinct animals, some
portraits, and many other exhibits. The museum would be an interesting visit to any history fans who

How The Rate Of That Ethanol Produces Ethanal By Potassium...
This experiment was about determining the rate of that ethanol produces ethanal by potassium
dichromate. The ethanol reacts with chromic acid to produce ethanal, and the rate was measured using
a spectrophotometer.
Equation: 6 H3O(aq) + 3 CH3CH2OH(aq) + 2 H2CrO4(aq) → 3 CH3CHO(aq) + 2Cr2+(aq) + 14
H2O(l)
Second Order Rate Law: Rate = k[ CH3CH2OH][H2CrO4] This second order reaction behaves like a
pseudo first order reaction when one of the two concentrations is much greater than the other. In this
experiment, the concentration of ethanol was so large compared to that of chromic acid that its change
in concentration as the reaction occurred was negligible when compared to the that of chromic acid,
thereby creating a pseudo first order reaction

Community Service By Robert Coles
Politically, socially, environmentally or one person at a time, how will you give back to society? Day
in and day out many citizens change the world, or they do just the opposite and make the world a
worse place than when they woke up. The article I chose to review is, Community Service written by
Robert Coles. The article tells a story of college students who make a difference in the world through
peer tutoring, an act of community service, and have such an impact that they act as role models for
Coles and he begins to do the same. Briefly in the beginning of the article, Coles states that, students
are likely to express their lofty political and social impulses and practical desires to change the world
through community service, even if in limited or modest ways. (Robert Coles, pg.93) We must make
an ultimate decision about the world we live in, will we choose to make a difference in the lives of
fellow citizens or discriminate and punish not only them but ourselves by not sharing the knowledge
we have been taught. Within the article, Robert Coles shares experiences and quotes from a college
junior who once told him, I want to help kids I know. (Robert Coles, pg.94) Cole believed he seemed
both voluble and impassioned. As the college junior tutors in the ghetto, he teaches the children that
there is a better life outside of the world they are currently living in, provided they study hard and
receive a good education. The junior has a remarkable sense on what

Medical Health And Medical Tourism
Imagine if you were in need of medical attention that you could not afford because of where you live
or the doctor nearby did not have standardized treatment for your diagnosis. What would you do?
Would you continue to seek treatment locally or find somewhere else to receive cheaper, proper care?
Most people would want to be taken care of by a doctor who knows what he or she is doing and if it
saves money at the same time, it is a hard deal to turn down. Traveling to seek medical attention is
better known as medical tourism. There are several types of medical tourism, reasons why people
decide to seek health care abroad, and multiple advantages and disadvantages of medical tourism. If
you are considering of whether to seek medical attention domestically or internationally, this paper
will inform its readers about medical tourism and provide experiences of others. It will also inform its
readers why medical tourism is something to consider. According to Lee Ann Eissler, a nurse
practitioner defines medical tourism as organized travel outside of someone s healthcare jurisdiction to
enhance or restore health. The traveling aspect can be as close as the next state or as far away as the
other side of the world. Patients who are medical tourists seek care for various health complications
such as cancer treatments, surgery, and even dental care. There are two types of medical tourism:
inbound and domestic. Inbound tourism is when one country provides care to patients from

Examples Of Situational Irony In The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd
Nothing ever happens in the small English town of King s Abbot, but all of that changes when the
town gets a new visitor. In The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, by Agatha Christie, two unexpected deaths
occur. A wealthy widow, Mrs. Ferrars, commits suicide and Roger Ackroyd is suddenly murdered. The
incapable town police are absolutely perplexed about the cause of the deaths so they call in an expert,
Hercule Poirot. Hercule is known for his famous little gray cells as he calls them. He and James, the
town doctor, continue to examine the case. They uncover the fact that Mrs. Ferrars was being
blackmailed because someone found out that she poisoned and killed her cruel husband. Christie
makes sure to keep the reader interested by adding in ironic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Through the entire book there is a lot of foreshadowing. The reader knows that something big is
bound to happen just by watching Hercule Poirot s reaction. A great example of this is when the author
writes, A slight gesture from Poirot enjoined me to stay behind the rest, (242). Here is the scene where
Poirot tells James to stay behind even after the meeting is adjourned. Poirot has just notified all
suspects that he is aware of the killer and the truth will come out (252). Immediately the reader is
aware that something huge is going to happen, as Poirot never does anything without a reason.
However, the author makes sure only to give a small hint of what will happen. The reader knows that
Poirot is about to confront James about something, but the reader doesn t know what the confrontation
will be about. A lot is learned through Poirot s actions as well. In this case, Poirot give James a small
gesture. The reader then understands that whatever Poirot wants to tell James is extremely private.
Poirot is not a very quiet man and he speaks his mind, so when he doesn t just call out something it is
obvious that it is restricted information. Then Poirot goes on to tell James he knows that he is the

Breast Feeding In The 1800s
Breast feeding was introduced in the 1800s as an alternative to avoid deadly illnesses that were
travelling from Spain, Middle East and Asia. In the 1860s scientists began supplementing animals
milk as formula; especially for mothers who were not able to breast feed. By the twentieth century, the
United States experienced a sharp decline in breast feeding rates for infants and toddlers (Lerner,
2006, p. 362). The reason for decreasing rates in breast feeding were due to breast feeding was seen as
public indecency, mothers were headed back to work, and mothers were not encourage to breast feed
their child because some people saw it embarrassing. Due to not enforcing laws that were established

Friedrich Nietzsche Research Paper
Friedrich Nietzsche once said There are horrible people who, instead of solving a problem, tangle it up
and make it harder to solve for anyone who wants to deal with it. Whoever does not know how to hit
the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all. This quote made me think more about his study
of existentialist. The meaning of existentialism a philosophical theory or approach that emphasizes the
existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development
through acts of the will.To me existentialist is a deeper means of life, meaning it break down life into
many details and also look at life and a different view and from a different Perspective.
Looking into Friedrich Nietzsche life I learned Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher and
cultural critic who published intensively in the 1870s and 1880s. He is famous for uncompromising
criticisms of traditional European morality and religion, as well as of conventional philosophical ideas

sights on their target market and worked to build relationships and train approximately 75% of all US

keep their venture capitalists happy was by going strait to consumers. When they didn t see things
progressing like they hoped, Prescott states, In the very early days, those same founders were
frustrated because they were not having success with the doctors or gaining any meaningful adoption.
So they decided to go right around the doctors to the consumers. They spent a lot of money early on. A
lot of that money was wasted... A lot of the effort and investment turned into demand for conventional
treatments but it did start to carve out a position for the company. Johnson, 2012 So, while initially,
their plan backfired, it did at least lay a foundation for Invisalign and what it could offer its patients
and customers. What are the options available to the organization? Branch out. According to Coughlin

Pros And Cons Of Banning Pitbulls
How often do people walk by a place and see someone getting attacked by a pitbull? Pretty much
never. So why ban pit bulls from being pets whenever they don t do anything to anyone? That s right,
they shouldn t be banned. Pit bulls should be allowed to be pets because they help children and teens
with ADHD, they re not dangerous if raised properly, and banning pit bulls isn t going to stop all dog
bites. Children who have ADHD have a greater possibility of feeling like a normal child if they have a
pitbull as a pet. Pit bulls offer a lot of love and companionship to children and even adults who have
ADHD. (FAQ s about pets) According to the authors of understood.org, pit bulls have helped more
than 74% of children with ADHD. For instance, whenever a child feels lonely, the dog would come in
and support the child and relieve their loneliness. Walking and playing with the dog will also provide a
great outlet for extra energy. (FAQ s about pets) For example, if there was a kid that had too much
energy at school, some schools will bring a dog for the student to play with and let out their energy.
Whenever people get out and walk their dogs, it not only lets out the energy, but it also is an easy way
to get some exercise. Whenever you have feelings of anxiety, or you are really stressed, petting and
cuddling with the dog will help. (FAQ s about pets) It s proven that pitbulls are great at keeping
people company because they can tell how someone is feeling. In

Examples Of Existentialism In Catch 22
Existential philosophy is found throughout Joseph Heller s novel Catch 22. This novel takes place
during the World War II and follows the stories and dilemmas of different characters. Heller
showcases his philosophy through certain characters beliefs and decisions. This integration creates the
ideal existential antihero in the character Yossarian. Characters such as Snowden, Yossarian, Nately,
the Chaplain, Hungry Joe, Milo, and an old man. Each of the characters listed reveal important
existential beliefs. It seems that throughout the novel, Heller applies basic human needs to each
character that follows the cycle of life. For instance Hungry Joe personifies sexual desire, Milo is
greed for success and capitalism, and the Chaplain as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heller makes Yossarian struggle which creates the path for Yossarian s existential choice. Yossarian s
existential journey ends in chapter 40, titled Catch 22, when Colonel Cathcart and Colonel Korn try
and persuade Yossarian to either to choose moral corruption or court martial. Note that as an
archetypal anti hero, Yossarian initially accepts the men s deal and chooses moral corruption.
However, as the novel continues to the end of chapter 40, he has an ambush both physically and on
conscience when Nately s whore attacked him. This moment acts as symbolism. Nately s whore is his
conscience informing him about his guilt which causes him to change his mind. The last remaining
chapters provide a linear cycle of Yossarian s existential anti hero journey. First, Yossarian travels to
the Eternal City, in chapter 39. The city he visits is destroyed due to bombing. Homeless people run
around, crimes are being committed all around him, and moral corruption starts to set into the city.
Previously discussed, this Eternal City could represent the lower levels of hell, where crime and
corruption run rampant. This is Yossarian s lowest point, not for himself morally, but just to see what
life could really be like. Yossarian is then faced with the Catch 22 that Colonel Cathcart and Colonel
Korn offered. He initially chooses to save himself, but later refuses the offer for it isn t fair to his
friends who died. He then

What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And...
What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries
in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary),
can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally
demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American
community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of
slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears
of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the
once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong
efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr.
Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa.
In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in
public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356).
Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans
understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands.
This all changed for Equiano when one day captors seized [him]... and ran off with [him] into the

I m Considering Becoming A Sports Fan
We come across many different cultures and fashion in our society. Some may indicate that the culture
influences one s fashion while others may oppose and state that each aspect stands alone. Fashion and
culture fall into the following identity categories: chosen and assigned. Culture affects many parts of
an individual, in some cases you can determine an individual s culture by their speech and clothing; in
addition to traditions and the environment in which they were raised. Whereas fashion may be
impacted by culture and tradition, but it may also not interact with culture at all.
When it came to Arab culture there were many restrictions and less freedom with appearance and
fashion. Even though the Arab culture may have many restrictions when it came to fashion it has been
modernized. The Arab culture prohibits a few dress codes that may be considered norm in American
culture. As an individual who grew up in an Arab culture household you have to adapt to the culture
and rituals. Just as Andy Hinds mentioned in his article, I m considering Becoming a Sports Fan How
Do I Pick a Team? In both of these exchanges, I had that old familiar feeling of not having a clue
about something that was supposed to be important to me as an American male. It may also prohibit
multiple actions that may be dealt and interpreted in other cultures in a different way. Arab culture is

Us Economy And Trump s Plan For It
US Economy and Trump s Plan for it The US economy, as anybody would expect, has gone through
its ups and downs. Some believe that our new president has a brilliant plan to create a phenomenal
economy for our country. Others believe that his economic policy will take our country to the worst
state it has ever been. Throughout our history, various styles of economic policy have been commonly
believed. In the early 1900 s most economists believed in classical economics, this is the idea that the
economy will work better when the government is more hands off. This can be thought of as the
purest form of capitalism that has been attempted. In the late 1940 s, most US economists began to

This unfortunately made him one of the least popular presidents. His successor, Franklin Roosevelt,
had an opposing view and believed Government intervention could do a lot to help the people.
Roosevelt enacted various government programs in order to create jobs and assist those who needed it
most. One of Roosevelt s biggest program, the CCC or Civilian Conservation Corps, employed young
men to work on public works projects such as parks and structural improvements. The CCC spent
money and served multiple purposes. It could allow previously unemployed people to have money to
spend at businesses that desperately needed it, and it also improved the quality of the country in
general, which improves the value of the country as a whole over time. This program, as well as
several others, can be considered an investment in America s people, which could pay off over time.
Roosevelt s programs did a lot to fix the economy, but in the end it was the second world war that
really helped the economy. This could cause many to question how such policies could really help a
hurting economy. Overall, however, programs such as these have shown promise in being beneficial to
stimulate an economy when the are needed. Trump s plan for tax reform, at its simplest, is to cut taxes
for most people, with focus in certain incomes. In the

Fellowship Of The Ring Essay
Courage and Fellowship
In his film Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (2001), director Peter Jackson creates the world
of Middle Earth. He uses Characterization, Symbols, Dichotomy, Character Growth, Sound, and
Dialogue to express the theme of Courage and Perseverance. Using these elements the director takes
the protagonist on a perilous journey, and accurately shows one of the most inspiring stories ever
brought to cinema.
Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) of the Shire in the beginning of the movie is a young and spry Hobbit
that has never gone through an ounce of hardship in his life. Peter Jackson uses Dialogue and
Characterization in the opening scene to show this. Frodo is first seen reading from a book until he

Gandalf later explains to Frodo the true power that the Ring possesses and explains that Sauron (the
antagonist) knows that the Ring is with Bilbo at the Shire. At first Frodo says that the Ring must be
hidden away until he learns that Sauron knows of it s location, which leads to the first act of Courage
that we see from Frodo as he accepts the menacing Ring despite knowing the consequences of
carrying it. Frodo accepts the Ring to protect his home and those he holds dear, thus he is beginning
his dangerous journey to become a courageous hero. After barely escaping the Nazgul (An enemy that
is trying to steal the Ring from Frodo), Frodo leaves the Ring to the council and prepares to depart.
The council then cannot decide who shall carry the Ring to Mordor to be destroyed. This leads to a
very important scene in the film. Frodo steps up and says that he will take the Ring to Mordor to be
destroyed. He says that he does not know the way and still courageously accepts the Ring. In the end
Sauron s minions the Uruk Hai find the Fellowship and a battle occurs that rips the Fellowship apart.
This is the most important scene of the entire film, because Frodo then decides to leave alone to
Mordor to destroy the Ring. The director uses

This is formed in the wake of lacking information and clear goals (Espeland, 2006). Direction and
expectations are needed to make sure a person feels comfortable with the job they are doing. If there is
no direction or expectations it becomes difficult to be confident that they are doing their job. When a
person is not confident in what they are doing then one can feel like they are constantly making
mistakes and can lead to an attitude of always being on defense. The second concept is a no win
situation where a supervisor or boss is not happy with the job a healthcare worker does no matter how
good a job the employee is doing (Espeland, 2006). Care givers and health care providers always

doing things because they feel you are doing something wrong, and then when you change they are

Stop The Endangered Species Act Of 1974

9 September 2015
Stop Hunting Endangered Animals 51,147 is the shocking number of animals considered endangered
throughout the world (www.statisticbrain.com). The Endangered Species Act of 1974 classified
endangerment as an instance when animals [are] in danger of becoming extinct (fws.gov). This act
protects the animal s habitat, prevents the hunting of some species, and attempts to create plans to
restore habitats if they are destroyed. This act protects over 1400 species in the United States
(www.endangered.org). The Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species, which aids in
protection of the animals on the international trade market, has been signed by 181 countries. This act

For example, on a Texas ranch where they raise Oryx, an endangered type of antelope, a hunter named
Paul says he hunts them because The money that I spend to hunt these animals keeps these animals

hunters ...kill thousands of exotic wild animals, representing hundreds of different species, in foreign
countries, primarily in Africa. They prefer to kill the most beautiful, the biggest and the rarest.
(www.idausa.org) Hunting is ruining conservation of endangered animals because it can hurt the
overall population of a species. For example, once ... an adult male lion is killed, the destabilization of
that lion s pride can lead to more lion deaths... [and] once a new male is in the dominant position, he
will often kill the cubs...resulting in the loss of an entire lion generation within the pride. (Flocken 1).
Each year tens of thousands of wild animals, representing hundreds of different species, are killed by

What Is Abigail Williams Dishonest
Abigail has many traits, like dishonesty, controlling, and evil. These traits make a lot of bad things
happen in the story. People have died from it and have suffered from loved ones dying. Abigail
Williams has many traits one of them is her dishonest nature. For example, when people started saying
there was witch craft in Salem and all the fingers started pointing at her she said that Tituba sent her
spirit out on her and made her drink the chicken blood. Tituba didn t make her drink the blood she
drank the blood to kill Goody Procter. Which was a lie the only reason she was there and drunk the
chicken blood was to kill Goody Proctor. She wanted her dead so that she could have John Procter all

Glory In Oedipus At Colonus
In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship
and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over
the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his
predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipus at Colonus,
Sophocles establishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher
power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of human life becomes
increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by
people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and
meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according
to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common
consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness
by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of
one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to
leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame
serves to illustrate the consistently unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before

Marketing Pl River Island And Dorothy Perkins
As part of my secondary research, I have analysed four dresses which are either from my client
Topshop or direct competitors such as River Island and Dorothy Perkins. This research will enable me
to gain knowledge on what my TMG looks for when buying special occasion dresses and what other
companies do to make their products stand out and be successful in such a big market. I will take this
knowledge into consideration when I design my dress and it will help me to incorporate features
which other companies use to sell their products.
RIVER ISLAND: PINK EMBELLISHED MAXI DRESS
I have decided to look at this dress from River Island as the store is a direct competitor to Topshop.
The shop is popular amongst 14 25 year old females but their prices are a bit higher than what my
client offers. This is shown throughout the company and in their products. River Island sells a variety
of special occasion dresses so the store is one of the first places that my TMG would look at; by
looking at specific aspects of their garments, I will be able to understand what features make it a
successful company and how they make their clothing commercially viable. This dress costs £75
which is reasonable for the high quality of the product. Most special occasion dresses are with in the
£50 £100 price bracket. The price ensures that the garment is suitable for its TMG and it reflects the
high quality of the dress. The garment is made from 100% polyester which is a good material as it

The Cause Of Slavery In Ancient Rome
The Romans partially met the common good. Some examples of a few things the did well was making
pipes and aqueducts to bring water to their cities. The problem was the pipes were made with lead, so
a lot of the people would get lead poisoning. One of the things that they could have done better with
was their entertainment because they would make slaves fight in gladiator fight and they would fight
to the death. If you owed a partition money, they could make you their slave as they had the write to
do so. However, slaves could earn money and buy their way out of slavery. If a slave had kids, their
kids would be free citizens. Most people in Rome were the plebeians, who were the workforce of the

The Notorious Jumping Frog Of Calaveras County Summary
Decoding the Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County
The celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County was written by Mark Twain in 1865. This was the
first of many wonderful works that Twain would publish in his lifetime. The story revolves around the
narrator being sent by a friend to find Rev. Leonidas W. Smiley. The narrator finds himself in an old
mining town in Calaveras County. He comes across Simon Wheeler and asks if he knows the
reverend. Simon Wheeler did not appear to know of the reverend and then proceeds to tell him the
story of Jim Smiley.
In the Notorious Jumping frog of Calaveras County, Mark Twain uses a colorful array of characters.
The narrator is an educated eastern man sent to find the Rev. Leonidas W. Smiley. He is doubtful that
the Reverend even exists. Along the way he meets several people in his search for the Reverend. ...

This in turn motivates Wheeler to tell several pointless stories. Wheeler mentions that the mining town
once had a parson named Walker. This confirms that the narrator has been sent to search for someone

Wheeler s stories we meet the Obsessive gambler Jim Smiley. Smiley is always placing bets on
anything he thinks can win him some money. Whether it be a dog, cat, bird, horse or strattle bug Jim
was going to bet something to try to win some money. Jim came across a frog whom he named Dan l

Essay On Student Stress
College students are stressed all the time, so much that it has become a daily emotion in their
academic career. College students stress increases when we go away to college because we have a lot
of freedom that we never had before. Some students have been so dependent on their parents for so
long that when it comes to daily task they are at so confused on how to properly complete it. In
college we experience academic, financial, family, social, and family stress. Stress is a normal human
behavior but it can physically and mentally harm us. To deal with stress one has to find ways to cope
in order to decrease their stress level. Ideal coping mechanisms for a college student is counseling,
communication , and relaxation techniques instead of leisure activities. As we go through the
transition of becoming college students we become vulnerable to stress because we are trying to find
ourself, keep up with our academics, have a social life and adjust to a new life. It becomes so much for
a college student that they easily become stressed. Even if students are physiologically stressed they
don t seek counseling, however others try to look for counseling because it gives social support and
interpersonal coping techniques that a college student can seek.In the article College Student Stress

A Rebuttal to E. R. Dodds On Misunderstanding the Oedipus Rex
In On Misunderstanding the Oedipus Rex, E. R. Dodds takes issue with three different opinions on
Oedipus Rex. I consider the first two opinions, which Dodds gleaned from student papers, to be
defensible from a close reading of the text. The first of these opinions is that Oedipus was a bad man,
and was therefore punished by the gods; Dodds counters that Sophocles intended for us to regard him
as good, noble, and selfless. But the play would seem to indicate that Oedipus, while a clever man, is
not a good one this can be shown through Dodds own source of argument, the attitude of the chorus,
as well as through Oedipus own actions onstage. Oedipus does not, as Dodds ... Show more content on

However, the driving force of Oedipus fact finding mission is an attempt to end the plague which
racks his city. He does not realize the personal consequences his hunt will have for him, and his
loyalty to the truth (23) is based on his ignorance of it. In fact, if we examine the events leading up to
Oedipus revelation, the incidental nature of his quest for identity becomes apparent. First, he summons
Tiresias to name the killer, whom Oedipus does not at the time believe to be himself. Then a
messenger arrives from Corinth, unbidden by the king, revealing that Oedipus is not truly Polybus
son. Finally, the shepherd reveals all of Oedipus past, after having been called for the purpose of
providing more information about Laius death. The coincidental nature of these events is somewhat at
odds with Dodds vision of Oedipus as a sort of Greek private detective who relentlessly ferrets out
clues in a self destructive search for his parents. Oedipus is eager to find the truth, but the most pivotal
witnesses for the true story of his birth either come to him of their own volition, or are convened by
Oedipus in the hopes that they will tell him something entirely different. In the end, he resigns himself
to the truth which would have been clear much earlier (as it was to Jocasta), had he

Bitcoin the Cryptocurrency
Bitcoin the Cryptocurrency: Stimulating Global Economic Growth
Bitcoin is a technologically innovative solution for some common economic issues as well as fraud
and identify theft. This cryptographic digital currency simultaneously provides users a method to
exchange money for free or a nominal fee which is mutually beneficial for retailers and consumers.
Bitcoin digital currency is similar to physical cash stored in a digital form. It is the first fully
implemented cryptocurrency protocol utilizing an open source peer to peer payment system. As a
transfer protocol, it fundamentally functions as a money transfer medium that sends bitcoins from user
to user without the need of a third party intermediary and the system is protected by peer reviewed
cryptographic algorithms. The value of one bitcoin is based on supply and demand by people willing
to use and accept this payment. The price of bitcoins went from approximately 1,000 bitcoins for
$1.00 USD. The price is currently around $450 for one bitcoin but continues to fluctuate and is
expected to continue rising. To simplify transactions, there is a mobile app for smartphones that allow
you to send/receive funds by scanning the buyer s unique QR code. These purchases have proven to
be cost effective for both the retailer and the consumer.
Rapid deflation when caused by technological progress can create positive and significant economic
growth. Typically retailers are charged a 2 3% processing fee imposed by credit card

you will need one year of on the job experience. You also have to complete one year of schooling to
become qualified. There is not much shift differential. Mechanics is a full time job, and you will have
to often work overtime. Something to consider is the injury rate. Mechanics has a higher injury rate
than any other occupation. Another thing to consider is the hazardous things you will encounter. Such
as radiator fluid and oil. All of these things can affect your salary for the good or for the bad. To sum
up, it is all about the salary and the things that can affect how you make it. In conclusion, this paper
explored the job description, requirements and salary expectation for mechanics. This career is a good
fit for me because I love to build and fix things. This is also a career where I can continue to grow
throughout the career. This is also what I have always wanted to do. I feel this career is a good fit for

Anatomy And Physiology With A Related Disorder

The integumentary system is an organ that is made of the skin, nails, hair, and the exocrine glands.
The skin is the largest organ in the human body. The skin covers the outer body forming a protective
barrier from chemicals, disease, UV light, and physical damage. Hair and nails both develop from the
skin to protects us from environmental damages. The integumentary has four main types of glands that

superficial layer consists of looser areolar connective tissue and the deep layer consists of dense
irregular connective tissue. Dermal cells have four main cells types called fibroblast cells, macrophage
cells, adipocyte cells, and mast cells. The most interesting cell to me are the mast cells. Mast cells
release two chemicals called Histamine and heparin. Histamine increases blood flow that relaxes
smooth muscle. Heparin is a blood thinner that increases capillary diffusion. (Tabor)
The epidermal Layer consists of 5 strata layers called the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum

the keratinocytes and melanocytes. Keratinocytes produce keratin and melanocytes produce melanin.
Melanin is only found in the epidermis and it protects the body from UV rays. The stratum spinosum
has tons of layers of keratinocytes. The deepest spinosum layer can undergo mitosis, pushing more
keratinocytes toward the surface (Tabor). The stratum granulosum has cells that contain an oily
substance. This oil substance waterproofs the skins and prevents the skin from dehydrating. Stratum
Lucidum cells have no nuclei or organelles. The stratum corneum

My Vacation Without A Bicycle Essay
Once upon a time, when I was 12 years old, during a summer vacation, I had a desire to own a bicycle.
My parents did not fulfil my desire. They thought it was an invitation for trouble and accidents. My

Media Stereotypes Essay examples
Media Stereotypes
Media stereotypes are inevitable, especially in the advertising, entertainment and news industries,
which need as wide an audience as possible to quickly understand information. Stereotypes act like
codes that give audiences a quick, common understanding of a person or group of people usually
relating to their class, ethnicity or race, gender, sexual orientation, social role or occupation.
Stereotypes are deeply embedded in every society in numerous ways. The dictionary definition of a

Propoganda may seem like a topic of the past as opposed to a topic in the contemparary field of

or a minor as a riddle. Its repititive and perasuasive techniques are found in all fields such as politics,
journalism and addvertising. As Anthony Pratkanis and Elliot Aronson point out:
Every day we are bombarded with one persuasive communication after another. These appeals

The Nature Of The Tsarist Autocracy In The October 1917...
¬There was immense change in the way Russia was ruled from 1855 1956, however there was also
continuity within that change, in the sense that many themes were repeated throughout the 100 years.
The nature of the autocracy in the period changed with the October 1917 revolution, however, many
of the aspects of Tsarist autocracy remained within the rule of the Communist leaders, such as the
implementation of terror starting from the Okhrana from Alexander II to the NKVD at the end of the
period, the use of propaganda to gain state control, centralisation of power, and war as a driver of
change. One continuity that carried on over the period of the 100 years was autocracy, and the need to
establish an absolute government. This was rather prominent in the rule of Alexander III who was
rather wary of the zemstvos and many of his father s reforms. Paranoid that the provincial
governments would cultivate a revolutionary peasantry, he put Land Captains in power to override the
zemstvos decisions. This is comparable to Lenin s political commissars in order to consolidate his
autocracy. In both the Tsarist and the Communist periods, the need for autocracy was imminent due to
the leaders knowing that if they gave more power to the people, they would lose power. However,
even though both regimes were in fact autocracies, they were driven by different reasons. The nature
of the Tsarist autocracy was underpinned by Orthodoxy and Nationality, particularly during the reign
of Alexander III

Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in
finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a benchmark
interest rate 2 in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for
financial institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions
financial health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten
different currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months2. The
most important part is the three month dollar Libor 2, which is the rate that other banks would borrow
from each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates submitted
are estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures2. Traders in other banks devised a
plan with each other by submitting rates that were higher or lower than the actual estimate in order to
control the interest rate.
Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on the
London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson Reuters
data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor2. The agent discards the highest and
lowest quarter of submissions and then

Pilot Galavant Character
Galavant fails Sid because he is too unmotivated to teach his squire what he needs to progress. In the
beginning of the episode Pilot, Sid has to drag Galavant out of bed while he complains about Sid
saying Madalena s name. Galavant is brokenhearted and drunk instead of teaching Sid, which hinders
Sid s quest because a squire is someone in training to become a knight. Galavant s job as Sid s mentor
is to teach him everything he needs to know about knighthood. However, Galavant occupies himself
with being heartbroken because he lost the love of his life, which means that he is not taking jobs or
fulfilling knightly duties. If Sid cannot accompany Galavant on quests and learn what he needs to
know, he will never become a knight because Galavant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the wedding scene of Pilot, the camera pans to Madalena multiple times as Galavant speaks. Her
facial expressions show that she is realizing she actually has options that don t include Galavant, a
sign that she lacked agency in her relationship with him. By finally being in a position where she can
use her agency instead of being spoken for by Galavant, Madalena says what she wants to do and is
not overshadowed by him. Because he continuously tried to speak for Madalena, Galavant failed her
by believing that just because he always thinks about Madalena and loves her she will automatically
come back to him like he is the only objective she has in life. Galavant never giving Madalena a
chance to speak for herself is a hindrance to her quest for power and his own quest for self knowledge.
Also in the wedding scene of Pilot, Galavant speaks for Madalena during his monologue, which shows
that even though he loves her, Galavant is inconsiderate of the fact she is her own person and not just
his lady love. As soon as Galavant interrupts the wedding between King Richard and Madalena, he
starts talking about himself and how he is certain Madalena will choose him because she loves him as
much as he loves her. By expecting her to come back like an object that belongs to him, he is not
allowing her to have free will and use her agency. By speaking for Madalena and not letting her make

Relationship Between The West And Iran
The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors
accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion, imperialism
and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was built primarily
on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti American? The Islamic
Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be found among opposition
groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United States; attacking such regimes
thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst, Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for
Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says Iran persistently puzzles Westerners
with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the West constantly gets Iran wrong because
of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and ideology. These dualities and contradictions,
for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an identity crisis.
While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been
shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion,
paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University of
Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and
inconsistencies of

Thunderstruck Analysis
A Mother s Instinct
McCann s Sh khol and McCracken s Thunderstruck explore the journey of two mothers who only
know how to be an overbearing mother hen . Circumstance s involving their children, will lead them
to change their ways.
McCann introduces readers to Rebecca a middle aged, single mother who has the task of raising her
disabled adopted son Tomas. Despite Tomas being Deaf, he is a normal thirteen year old boy. There
was a raw wedge of thrill in her love for him. (McCann 178). Rebecca devoted her life to Tomas. Due
to him being deaf, she never knew what he could comprehend. As for McCracken s Thunderstruck ,
we are introduced to a brittle mother daughter relationship. The story focuses on Laura, the mother
and Helen her eldest daughter. Laura is characterized as a constant worrier. She had never truly gotten
rid of a single maternal worry. (McCracken 201). She was far from a perfect mother, a flaw of Laura s,
was that she never knew how to be authoritative towards her children. Especially when Helen wanted
to test her boundaries, such as sneaking out, doing drugs and being mischievous. Helen is twelve year
s old, whom is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Soon it was gone forever (McCracken 210). Alarmed by a phone call, it was discovered that Helen
had a major head injury during the night. They blindsided by Helen s double life. Through their
younger daughter Kit, they found out that she had sneaked out at night, hanging out with boys, and
stealing the American cell phones. Now Helen being paralyzed, the tables turned. Laura could not
cope with Helen not being at home , not being the girl she wished she were. On the other hand Wes,
took light in Helen s incident and made himself believe things such as her being able to paint. Just to

Sociological Imagination Papers
Aubrey Suri SOC210 003
The Sociological Imagination To see one s self as more than just a person, but as a blade of grass in a
field is to have a sociological imagination. One person being able to factor in current history and
society norms as well as the conditions being placed on them(such as location and culture) at any
given moment posses a wider perspective than a normal person and is able to view the world
sociologically. The sociological imagination can be described as a capacity for viewing the world
through multiple broad perspectives or in C. Wright Mills The Promise of Sociology he defins it as the
vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society.

For me my biggest influences have been my family. Naturally they are the people i spend the most
time with and enjoy doing so. I admire something in everyone of my siblings and parents and can see
what i have attained from them pretty clearly. From my brothers I have my music taste and odd sense
of humor, from my mother my passive aggressive under tones but strong belief in self discipline, and
from my father a subtle belief in religion without active practice. Other things have also shaped me
such as growing up in a decently wealthy town with a familiar atmosphere, but traveling often and
enjoying other cultures i can take into account different views and a more worldly perspective on
things. Politics have also shaped my life even though I am not active in them, but because of the
company I keep. Due to the recent election tension has been created between many of my friends and
has caused conflict because of opposing views. Many other things account for the way i am and the
way i live my life but there are too many to count and even notice

Bai and Sun s Sandwich Beam Theory
Bai and Sun s sandwich beam theory was the consideration of the transverse, longitudinal, and
rotatory inertia all in one set of equations. The sandwich beam dimensions used by Bai and Sun are
shown in Figure 1. Fig 1:Three Layer sandwich beam Assuming that the face layers are elastic and
behave as Bernoulli Euler beams, with negligible shear deformation, the longitudinal and transverse
displacements and at any point within the face layers may be written as i=1,2 (1) Where and are the
longitudinal and transverse displacements of the centroid of the ith face layer, respectively, and is the
distance from the centroid of the ith face layer as shown in Fig. 2. Fig2: Local coordinate systems for

and z directions. Following an elasticity analysis, Bai and Sun [6] assumed that the longitudinal and
transverse displacement of the core is (2) In Equation (2), and are the longitudinal and transverse

Introduction To Poetry By Billy Collins
Billy Collins, born and raised in Manhattan, New York, is one of America s most successful poets.
Known for very famous poems such as The Art of Drowning and Introduction to Poetry, Billy Collins
has succeeded in the department of English Literature for much of his life. With a bachelors degree
from the College of Holy Cross and a Masters and PHD from the University of California, Riverside,
Billy Collins went on to become a college English professor at Lehman College in the Bronx. He is
and for a long time has been a strong advocate for encouraging young people to get into poetry and
even created the program Poetry 180 where he made a collection of 180 poems for schools to read one
poem every school day. Setting him apart from the average poet, Collins received the utmost honor
from the Library of Congress when he was declared the U.S. poet Laureate in 2001, serving for two
years. Following the September 11th terror attacks, Collins wrote and read a poem entitled The Names
that was dedicated to the victims. Unlike many poets who write extremely emotional poems, drawing
from their traumatic backgrounds, Collins keeps it simple and rights about relatable, average, middle
class lifestyle topics; both of his poems Introduction to Poetry and Embrace are emblematic of that.
The poem Introduction to Poetry is one of Collins most famous works of literature. The poem begins
with Collins using similes such as I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a

Do Dogs Make Better Pets Than Cats Research Paper
Do Dogs Make Better Pets Than Cats?
Imagine : You are are at a pet adoption center, trying to pick out a pet. The only pets they have are
dogs and cats. Which would you pick and why? Cat videos are hysterical, but dogs remain the more
flexible pet. (not literally) Dogs are by far the most popular pet to love. They are also extremely loyal
and, I guess you could say, caring. As of 2011, a survey showed that the two most popular pets to own
are dogs and cats. Even though the total number of pet cats is more than dogs, households that own
dogs outnumber cats. Hence the crazy cat lady reference, many of the households of cat owners
consists of only one person who owns a group of cats. The dog owning households have families
owning

That is one of the hardest task you have to do as a scientist but along come other task. You have to go through a lot of experiments and trial and error. • 4. How The Rate Of That Ethanol Produces Ethanal By Potassium... This experiment was about determining the rate of that ethanol produces ethanal by potassium dichromate. The ethanol reacts with chromic acid to produce ethanal, and the rate was measured using a spectrophotometer. Equation: 6 H3O(aq) + 3 CH3CH2OH(aq) + 2 H2CrO4(aq) → 3 CH3CHO(aq) + 2Cr2+(aq) + 14 H2O(l) Second Order Rate Law: Rate = k[ CH3CH2OH][H2CrO4] This second order reaction behaves like a pseudo first order reaction when one of the two concentrations is much greater than the other. In this experiment, the concentration of ethanol was so large compared to that of chromic acid that its change in concentration as the reaction occurred was negligible when compared to the that of chromic acid, thereby creating a pseudo first order reaction ... • 5. Community Service By Robert Coles Politically, socially, environmentally or one person at a time, how will you give back to society? Day in and day out many citizens change the world, or they do just the opposite and make the world a worse place than when they woke up. The article I chose to review is, Community Service written by Robert Coles. The article tells a story of college students who make a difference in the world through peer tutoring, an act of community service, and have such an impact that they act as role models for Coles and he begins to do the same. Briefly in the beginning of the article, Coles states that, students are likely to express their lofty political and social impulses and practical desires to change the world through community service, even if in limited or modest ways. (Robert Coles, pg.93) We must make an ultimate decision about the world we live in, will we choose to make a difference in the lives of fellow citizens or discriminate and punish not only them but ourselves by not sharing the knowledge we have been taught. Within the article, Robert Coles shares experiences and quotes from a college junior who once told him, I want to help kids I know. (Robert Coles, pg.94) Cole believed he seemed both voluble and impassioned. As the college junior tutors in the ghetto, he teaches the children that there is a better life outside of the world they are currently living in, provided they study hard and receive a good education. The junior has a remarkable sense on what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here is the scene where Poirot tells James to stay behind even after the meeting is adjourned. Poirot has just notified all suspects that he is aware of the killer and the truth will come out (252). Yossarian s existential journey ends in chapter 40, titled Catch 22, when Colonel Cathcart and Colonel Korn try and persuade Yossarian to either to choose moral corruption or court martial. Note that as an archetypal anti hero, Yossarian initially accepts the men s deal and chooses moral corruption. However, as the novel continues to the end of chapter 40, he has an ambush both physically and on conscience when Nately s whore attacked him. This moment acts as symbolism. Nately s whore is his conscience informing him about his guilt which causes him to change his mind. The last remaining chapters provide a linear cycle of Yossarian s existential anti hero journey. First, Yossarian travels to the Eternal City, in chapter 39. The city he visits is destroyed due to bombing. Homeless people run around, crimes are being committed all around him, and moral corruption starts to set into the city. Previously discussed, this Eternal City could represent the lower levels of hell, where crime and corruption run rampant. This is Yossarian s lowest point, not for himself morally, but just to see what life could really be like. Yossarian is then faced with the Catch 22 that Colonel Cathcart and Colonel Korn offered. • 14. What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And... What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary), can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr. Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa. In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356). Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands. In the early 1900 s most economists believed in classical economics, this is the idea that the economy will work better when the government is more hands off. • 24. Glory In Oedipus At Colonus In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles establishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of human life becomes increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame serves to illustrate the consistently unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dodds takes issue with three different opinions on Oedipus Rex. I consider the first two opinions, which Dodds gleaned from student papers, to be defensible from a close reading of the text. The first of these opinions is that Oedipus was a bad man, and was therefore punished by the gods; Dodds counters that Sophocles intended for us to regard him as good, noble, and selfless. But the play would seem to indicate that Oedipus, while a clever man, is not a good one this can be shown through Dodds own source of argument, the attitude of the chorus, as well as through Oedipus own actions onstage. He does not realize the personal consequences his hunt will have for him, and his loyalty to the truth (23) is based on his ignorance of it. In fact, if we examine the events leading up to Oedipus revelation, the incidental nature of his quest for identity becomes apparent. First, he summons Tiresias to name the killer, whom Oedipus does not at the time believe to be himself. Then a messenger arrives from Corinth, unbidden by the king, revealing that Oedipus is not truly Polybus son. Finally, the shepherd reveals all of Oedipus past, after having been called for the purpose of providing more information about Laius death. The coincidental nature of these events is somewhat at odds with Dodds vision of Oedipus as a sort of Greek private detective who relentlessly ferrets out clues in a self destructive search for his parents. Oedipus is eager to find the truth, but the most pivotal witnesses for the true story of his birth either come to him of their own volition, or are convened by Oedipus in the hopes that they will tell him something entirely different. The nature of the autocracy in the period changed with the October 1917 revolution, however, many of the aspects of Tsarist autocracy remained within the rule of the Communist leaders, such as the implementation of terror starting from the Okhrana from Alexander II to the NKVD at the end of the period, the use of propaganda to gain state control, centralisation of power, and war as a driver of change. One continuity that carried on over the period of the 100 years was autocracy, and the need to establish an absolute government. This was rather prominent in the rule of Alexander III who was rather wary of the zemstvos and many of his father s reforms. Paranoid that the provincial governments would cultivate a revolutionary peasantry, he put Land Captains in power to override the zemstvos decisions. This is comparable to Lenin s political commissars in order to consolidate his autocracy. In both the Tsarist and the Communist periods, the need for autocracy was imminent due to the leaders knowing that if they gave more power to the people, they would lose power. Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a benchmark interest rate 2 in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for financial institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions financial health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten different currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months2. The most important part is the three month dollar Libor 2, which is the rate that other banks would borrow from each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates submitted are estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures2. Traders in other banks devised a plan with each other by submitting rates that were higher or lower than the actual estimate in order to control the interest rate. Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on the London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson Reuters data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor2. The agent discards the highest and lowest quarter of submissions and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Pilot Galavant Character Galavant fails Sid because he is too unmotivated to teach his squire what he needs to progress. In the beginning of the episode Pilot, Sid has to drag Galavant out of bed while he complains about Sid saying Madalena s name. Galavant is brokenhearted and drunk instead of teaching Sid, which hinders Sid s quest because a squire is someone in training to become a knight. Galavant s job as Sid s mentor is to teach him everything he needs to know about knighthood. However, Galavant occupies himself with being heartbroken because he lost the love of his life, which means that he is not taking jobs or fulfilling knightly duties. If Sid cannot accompany Galavant on quests and learn what he needs to know, he will never become a knight because Galavant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the wedding scene of Pilot, the camera pans to Madalena multiple times as Galavant speaks. Her facial expressions show that she is realizing she actually has options that don t include Galavant, a sign that she lacked agency in her relationship with him. By finally being in a position where she can use her agency instead of being spoken for by Galavant, Madalena says what she wants to do and is not overshadowed by him. Because he continuously tried to speak for Madalena, Galavant failed her by believing that just because he always thinks about Madalena and loves her she will automatically come back to him like he is the only objective she has in life. Galavant never giving Madalena a chance to speak for herself is a hindrance to her quest for power and his own quest for self knowledge. Also in the wedding scene of Pilot, Galavant speaks for Madalena during his monologue, which shows that even though he loves her, Galavant is inconsiderate of the fact she is her own person and not just his lady love. As soon as Galavant interrupts the wedding between King Richard and Madalena, he starts talking about himself and how he is certain Madalena will choose him because she loves him as much as he loves her. By expecting her to come back like an object that belongs to him, he is not allowing her to have free will and use her agency. By speaking for Madalena and not letting her make ... • 42. Relationship Between The West And Iran The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion, imperialism and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was built primarily on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti American? The Islamic Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be found among opposition groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United States; attacking such regimes thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst, Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says Iran persistently puzzles Westerners with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the West constantly gets Iran wrong because of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and ideology. These dualities and contradictions, for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an identity crisis. While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion, paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University of Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and inconsistencies of ... Other things have also shaped me such as growing up in a decently wealthy town with a familiar atmosphere, but traveling often and enjoying other cultures i can take into account different views and a more worldly perspective on things. Politics have also shaped my life even though I am not active in them, but because of the company I keep. Known for very famous poems such as The Art of Drowning and Introduction to Poetry, Billy Collins has succeeded in the department of English Literature for much of his life. With a bachelors degree from the College of Holy Cross and a Masters and PHD from the University of California, Riverside, Billy Collins went on to become a college English professor at Lehman College in the Bronx. He is and for a long time has been a strong advocate for encouraging young people to get into poetry and even created the program Poetry 180 where he made a collection of 180 poems for schools to read one poem every school day. Setting him apart from the average poet, Collins received the utmost honor from the Library of Congress when he was declared the U.S. poet Laureate in 2001, serving for two years. Following the September 11th terror attacks, Collins wrote and read a poem entitled The Names that was dedicated to the victims. Unlike many poets who write extremely emotional poems, drawing from their traumatic backgrounds, Collins keeps it simple and rights about relatable, average, middle class lifestyle topics; both of his poems Introduction to Poetry and Embrace are emblematic of that. The poem Introduction to Poetry is one of Collins most famous works of literature. The poem begins with Collins using similes such as I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a ... The only pets they have are dogs and cats. Which would you pick and why? Cat videos are hysterical, but dogs remain the more flexible pet. (not literally) Dogs are by far the most popular pet to love. They are also extremely loyal and, I guess you could say, caring. As of 2011, a survey showed that the two most popular pets to own are dogs and cats. Even though the total number of pet cats is more than dogs, households that own dogs outnumber cats. Hence the crazy cat lady reference, many of the households of cat owners consists of only one person who owns a group of cats. The dog owning households have families owning ...
