A Summary Of Living Beyond Limits
Amy Purdy s TED talk, Living Beyond Limits , empowers people to push past their boundaries.
She encourages people to embrace their differences and obstacles in life that would normally set
them back. Purdy explained that after she had graduated from high school, she moved from a
large desert to somewhere that snowed, and she became a massage therapist. She finally felt in
control of her own life. Unfortunately, this was all for a very short time because one day soon
after, she left her job early because of what she thought was the flu. Realistically, Purdy had
contracted bacterial meningitis, and was soon laying in the hospital on life support. She lost
both of her legs from the knee down, hearing in her left ear, and both of her kidneys. After she
healed, she tried on a new pair prosthetic legs, and she grew frustrated and immediately felt as
though her life would be restricted and confined forever, that her new legs would impact her life
in a very negative way. After a few months of moping and feeling sorry for herself, she started to
view her position in a new light. She decided she must embrace her new legs, and learn how to
work with them, instead of working against them. She found many benefits to having prosthetic
legs, and it made her realize that her legs weren t a curse. After realizing all of the positives,
Purdy was able to continue with her life, and as time went on, she overcame even more obstacle by
staying positive. Four months after Purdy s health scare,

The People Processes New Information Based On Their...
People processes new information based on their learning styles. VAK learning styles are designed
to describe how an individual processes information. VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and
Kinesthetic. The VAK learning style uses these three senses in order to determine a person s
dominate learning style. In theory, an individual usually prefers to learn through one of these senses
more than another. Everybody, including your family members, friends and strangers may have the
same or a different learning style. Some individuals have a mixture of these three learning styles,
which is not uncommon. It all depends on how one perceives and retains information. As
individuals we all learn differently. Although people have a dominate style of learning; most
learners tend to use all three senses to understand information given to them. These three styles
include: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic. For example, one might prefer a type of learning over
another in order to complete a task rather than their own dominate learning style. By understanding
the three learning styles, it can help out a student to better able to focus on his or her studying on
specific techniques to increase their level of knowledgeand perhaps help them through a difficult
class. Visual learners tend to learn and remember through seeing and reading. This can involve
pictures, handouts, diagrams or demonstrations. Auditory learning involves listening to information
in order to learn through words instead of

There, Patroclus quickly falls under the companionship of Achilles and are soon requested to join
the Trojan War. Achilles is Aristos Achaion, he is the best fighter the Greeks have ever known, but

Myrmidons into war to drive the Trojans back. But Patroclus gets killed by Hector and Achilles,

Global Warming Is A Real Problem
Climate Change is an important topic that everyone should be well versed on. Global warming was
denied as being a real problem for many years, but the proof cannot be hidden anymore and
countries around the world are acknowledging that global warming does exist. It is my pleasure to
know that our country will participate in the United Nations Climate Summit. As the CEO of an
environmentally conscious company, it is my honor to represent the United States of America at
the Summit.
Climate Change refers to changes in the Earth s climate caused by increasing concentrations of
carbon dioxide and other pollutants produced by human activity. Global warming is the increase of
the average surface temperature on Earth caused by the excess release of greenhouse gases, such
as carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases occur naturally, but in excess it could be
harmful to the Earth. Composition of greenhouse gases traps heat from the sun, and this is what
helps the Earth stay warm enough to sustain life. The more heat they trap, the warmer the earth
gets, and as the planet gets warmer it creates climate changes. The greenhouse gases that are
making the earth warmer are generated by human activity. One of the main greenhouse gases is
carbon dioxide, which is being mostly released by the burning of fossil fuels. Other gases are
Methane, which is released through industrial and agricultural processes and Nitrogen Dioxide
which is a product of some industrial processes.

Turner Syndrome And The Age Of Puberty
Turner Syndrome Introduction
Turner Syndrome is a disorder that affects one in every two thousand girls. Usually girls are born
with only one X chromosomes. Some are born with an extra chromosome, or sometimes even half
of one is missing which causes Turner Syndrome.
Symptoms of Turner Syndrome Most of the girls that have Turner Syndrome are way shorter than
average girls. The girls often have their normal height up to three years old. After they are three
the growth rate starts to slow down. Ovaries that are non functioning are other symptoms of Turner

Diagnosing Turner Syndrome Usually the girls with TS are diagnosed around the time they are
born. Or at the time they are expected to go through their period. Usually if a baby girl has the
signs of Turner Syndrome, a doctor around the hospital will order a special blood test called a
karyotype. This test counts the number of chromosomes, this test can also identify any that are
abnormally shaped or have some missing pieces. If the blood test shows that a girl has Turner
Syndrome, her doctor may order additional test to check for problems with her kidneys, heart,
hearing, and other problems that are often associated with Turner Syndrome. Some diagnosing can
be made at birth or close to birth because of heart problems, an unusually wide neck or swelling of
the hands and the feet.

Turner Syndrome can also be suspected in pregnancy during an ultrasound test.
Turner Syndrome during pregnancy can be confirmed by prenatal testing by sampling, or getting
cells from the baby for a chromosome analysis. If the diagnosis is confirmed prenatally, also the
baby may be under the care of a specialist pediatrician, also the baby may be under the care of a
specialist immediately after birth.
Noonan s Syndrome is associated with some of the clinical features of Turner Syndrome. Noonan s

The Building Blocks Of Any Weight Loss Supplement Essay
Nucific BIO X4 Ingredients
Ingredients are the building blocks of any weight loss supplement. When people are judging a
product, they determine whether it has accurate ingredients for fat loss. As well, they research
those ingredients to know if they have any benefits to their bodies. The same is the case with BIO
X4 potential users. They want to know which ingredients it has and how they fulfill the work that
this probiotic was designed for. As aforementioned, this magical product has four nutrients that
make it work the way it does. These are explained as shown below.
Caralluma Fibmbriata According to various studies, Caralluma Fimbriata is a very safe extract to
take. It is very potent as well, and the main work it does in this probiotic is to suppress your
appetite. Furthermore, research has found that caralluma fimbriata could reduce your waist
circumference.
Digestive enzymes These are small protein molecules that disintegrate the foods we eat and
unblock nutrients so that our bodies can absorb them. As people age, their ability to produce
digestive enzymes decrease, and this is where BIO X4 comes in. Boasting up to three main
digestive enzymes, this supplement is just what you need to get value from the food you eat. One
of these enzymes is called amylase, and its work is to metabolize your sugars. Lipase is for
metabolizing fats while bromelain is for breaking down protein and relieving intestinal irritation.
EGCG This is a natural compound. It is

Examples Of Classroom Observation For Children
For my classroom observation, I am placed with Alice Hunt at Genesis Child Care Center. It has
a very nice atmosphere and the children all seem to really enjoy their cooperating teacher and
classroom. My classroom has a lot of positive areas and is beneficial to the children s development
and learning. On the other hand, there is some room for improvement inside the classroom. I think
by adding some things to the classroom and taking some things away would help the classroom
become a bettermore interactive classroom for the children. There are some things as a future
educator that I would like to bring into the classroom that I feel would implement the classroom
also.
The three things that I feel are very positive for the children and that I feel makes the classroom a
positive environment is for starters the artwork and their writings placed around the room. Having
the children s artwork and other work around the room is crucial for building a strong relationship
with the child and the parents see that you care about everyone s work. Also, the children build a
very strong confidence to keep improving on their artwork or their own writings. The article that
Natasha read from our discussion board recently said that by having the artwork placed on the
walls through the classroom the children feel a part of the classroom and that s exactly how my
children feel when they walk through the doors. Secondly the materials are all available for the
children to easily access

The Mongols And The Mongol Empire
Melwin Varghese
Ms. Holzinger

Were the Mongols able to conquer such vast areas of land because of their superior battle tactics or
because of the tools and weapons the Mongols used?
I. Introduction
The Mongols were made up of many fierce tribes originating from the steppes of central Asia.
They were able to take over large parts of the known world in a matter of a few decades. The
Mongol empire was the greatest and largest continuous land empire the world has ever known.
Relatively shortly after Genghis Khan, leader of the Mongol forces, died, the huge Mongol empire
split into four Khanates that were ruled separately and independently. Ultimately these empires also
failed after a period of time but the Mongols had a long standing influence on numerous cultures
not only of Asia but also of the Western world.
Genghis Khan was the leader of the Mongol forces. Originally named Temujin, he gave himself the
name Genghis Khan. The Khan s name has many different translations and one of them is oceanic
sovereign (Jarus). He was a natural born tactician and conquered many great empires through
clever, crafty, and many times cruel ways to beat the enemy. Genghis Khan died shortly before he
was about to start a campaign against China and the Shin Empire. By Genghis Khan s death, the
Mongol Empire stretched from China all the way to Egypt. A short time after the Khan s death, the
Empire split into four Khanates. However, their combined size had not

JuiceGuys revenue went up to 91% and they made a profit of $227,000 in sales. Noticing the
tremendous success within the industry in such a short time, Nantucket Nectar and Juice Guys

opportunity to sell more than just juice and also resulting in Juice Guys indentifying between the
ages of 18 35 to be their leading influential target market.
With having only one of The Four Ps, (the place), Juice Guys had to come up with a marketing plan
to develop the other three Ps; which were of product, promotion and price. Juice Guys knew they
wanted to sell fresh juices and fruit smoothies; however, they needed to know if the consumers
wanted more than just those products. Also, they needed to find a way to promote their new
products and make their prices economically feasible for the consumers in this new place; which
was Boston. In order to accomplish this, they needed consumers to let them know what they
thought was the ultimate juice shop.
Marketing research defined is the systematic design, collection, analysis, and reporting of data and
findings relevant to a specific marketing situation facing the company (Kotler Keller, 2009, p. G6).

Abstract:
Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction
oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action
thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated
Receptor gamma (PPAR Оі) agonists as pioglitazone are used for decreasing inflammation. The aim
of this study is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with
pioglitazone on type 2 diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was
induced in male Sprague Dawley rats by combination of high fat diet and low dose streptozotocin
(35 mg/kg). Diabetic rats were treated with omega 3 fatty acids (10% W/W diet), pioglitazone (20
mg/kg), and their combination for 4 weeks. Omega 3 fatty acids and the combination treatment
significantly decreased TLR 4 activation. Omega 3 fatty acids, pioglitazone, and their combination
significantly decreased TLR 4 mRNA expression, hepatic malondialdehyde, total cholesterol and
triglycerides levels, compared to diabetic group. Pioglitazone and the

It is pretty simple why companies do choose to go public. Companies go public usually to have
access to more money (Martin, 2017). Companies have two ways they can increase funding.
They can sell bonds or sell shares. Although when it comes to selling bonds a company has to
remember that they still have to pay interest on the money they have borrowed and pay it all
back (Martin, 2017). This is why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling
shares instead. Companies want more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be
able to build up their savings too. Plus, companies need more money for when they start new
projects. When a company goes public it is not always positive. One disadvantage of going public
is the owner or owners of a company cannot manage the company like it is his or her private
company anymore. The business must make sure and acknowledge that they are responsible to
shareholders and will need to make sure that they have quarterly calls and explain their business
actions and why they made the choices they did. A company making this transition and going
through this process can longer just do what they want and get away with it. They have to take the
responsibility and remember to respect shareholders in order to have a successful company and
continue to grow. Another disadvantage carrying from the last issue is that all

Punishment vs. Rehabilitation
Abstract
In this paper you will read about the steady debate between the punishment model and
rehabilitation model. You will be able to understand each model s side and derive your personal
option of which model would work best for our country.
Punishment vs. Rehabilitation
Deciding methods of fixing bad behavior has been a discussion since the beginning of time.
Parents have debated the subject to the point that professionals such as psychologist have been
asked to be involved in the discussion. Many parents would often tell their children war stories of
how their parents beat them with switches or belts. Today, however, this behavior is not
acceptable and if social workers are called to a family s residence and this behavior is ... Show more

his friend s death he wrote a letter to the victims parents apologizing for his actions.
Effect on the Offender
Several studies have shown that the punishment model does not help the offender, they are placed
in the prison world with a determinant or inderminate sentence, pulled away from their family and
society as they have known it. The punishment model has shown to cause depression in the inmates
because they are isolated from their families and feel alone. (www.thebody.com)
On the other hand rehabilitation has found that inmates learn how to improve their lives by
joining drug treatments, getting their GED or a vocational trade because rehabilitation program
goal is to get the inmate back active in society and stay out of the criminal systems. Inmates who
are involved in this type of program are more likely to not return to prison and our able to be
home with their families and make a better life for themselves. ocial effect on society

Groupon Case Study
1. Coupons have been around forever, so why has Groupon become successful?
I believe that Groupon has become successful for many different reasons. First of all, Groupon was
the first to transport the traditional Coupon clipping to the online world. This opened many
opportunities. It was something new, exciting to consumers that they hadnВґt seen in this way. So
Groupon had a first mover advantage even though they only connected already existing ideas and
technologies in a new way. By being online Groupon could reach many, possibly millions, of people
at once. This was a strong argument when Groupon talked to local merchants. As most of these
merchants did not have an extensive marketing budget and were not necessarily familiar with new
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making the offers timesensitive triggers a feeling in consumers that they might miss out on a
chance that will not repeat itself if they donВґt act now. Many even bought vouchers that they never
redeemed, just not to miss out on an opportunity. In this sense Groupon is speaking to the risk
aversion of the majority of people. The thrill of seeing how much time is left on a coupon and
how many others are acting as well, appeals to a personВґs addictive behavior. We wantto repeat
the thrill of the bargain hunt. Groupon then made many moves to foster and expand its initial
success. It expanded rapidly into more cities and later on even more countries. It fostered its
connection with social media and the online world by setting up an affiliate marketing program
that allowed bloggers and websites to earn commissions. This online referral was also expanded
by giving consumers a direct incentive to refer Groupon by offering them a 10$ reward towards a
future purchase. Groupon also heavily invested in paid search engine advertising and even created
an ad that was shown during half time of the super bowl. So, to sum up, Groupon made sure that
its existence spread as fast and as much as possible.
2. Local merchants have a mixed reaction about Groupon. What is your opinion is it good for
merchants or not?
In my opinion Groupon is not a ready to go solution to the problem of low marketing budgets of
many local merchants. If Groupon is good

Extracurricular Activities
Many students become involved in extracurricular activities and it really enriches the high school
experience. Staying after school for something you enjoy can make it all worthwhile. Baseball,
Soccer, Spanish Club, SCA, etc. are all extraordinary activities students stay after school for.
Although extracurricular activities can make grades suffer, and stress students out, schools shouldn
t control the after schoolinvolvement of students because it could help develop a work ethic, lead
to getting scholarships and help build a collegeresume. One reason why schools should not control
the number of extracurricular activities a student can join is it can deny them the chance to

As I mentioned earlier, my friend Brandon attends the Naval Academy. His story of getting in is
amazing but there s one thing I want to point out. One of the biggest deciding factors for him
wasn t his grades, but rather the activities he engaged in. The Naval Academy saw his grades and
realized they were decent grades, but they also realized he was involved in baseball, ROTC,
multiple bands and his classes and that s what persuaded the Naval Academy to accept him. What
if a student has straight B s all through High school, but was involved in tons of after school stuff?
Does that mean he can t make it into a prestigious university? Absolutely not. Extracurricular
activities can very easily be a deciding factor in earning scholarships. One of the most over
looked but certainly not least important benefit of engaging in after school activities is the help
it gives in creating a work resume. When you fill out a resume, it asks for a plethora of things
but one thing it asks for is activities you engage in. Everyone stresses out over creating a resume,
and engaging in activities can help. Things require resumes are jobs, colleges, etc. For example, it

The Differences Of The Las Vegas Shootings
The two topics this paper will be discussing are the Las Vegas shooting and how California was
the first state to have three different genders options to choose from. The first headline being
discussed is the Vegas shooting. According to CNN authors, Stephen Poddock was the deadliest
mass shooter in modern US history. His relentless gunfire police say he fired for nine to 11
minutes after the first 911 call on country music fans at an outdoor concert left 58 people dead,
(Yan, Park, and Simon). Poddock was staying in room on the 32nd floor at the Mandalay Bay hotel
and casino located on the Las Vegas strip. After thousands of rounds were fired, Vegas police
found Poddock dead in his Mandalay Bay hotel room. According to Ken Ritter from the
Washington Post Poddock s body was sent to Stanford for multiple forensic analyses to be done
on his brain. After a visual inspection of Paddock s brain during a coroner s autopsy found no
abnormalities, (Ritter). The FBI did state that this doesn t have anything to do with a terrorism
attack. This day will never be forgotten across America because we lost 52 of our own people.
Jason Aldean shared that all of his crew members along with himself were all safe, but had to
cancel their upcoming shows. He also stated that it will hard to get back on the stage. People go
to concerts to get away from reality for a few short hours. Reality set in only five songs into the

Ginger And The Natural Morning Sickness Remedies
Ginger And The Natural Morning Sickness Remedies
One of the most amazing fact about this herb is its power for treating morning sickness symptoms.
Several studies determined that ginger is equally as effective as vitamin B6 in treating vomiting
and nausea of pregnancy.
Because it s not advisable for your developing baby to be exposed to any drug, ginger being a herb
can be one of many safest cures for morning sickness.
Ginger tea has long been utilized for treating morning sickness in several countries. This beverage
is often made by slicing or grating moderate volume of peeled ginger roots poured with very hot
water and a few drops of honey and lemon to add flavor. In some areas of Asia, the tea is made by
boiling peeled, sliced ginger and in most cases added with brown sugar and lemon or sliced orange
to incorporate flavor.
In many studies, ginger has been verified to be more therapeutic than simply a placebo for
morning sickness and motion sickness. When other home treatments don t appear to work for you,
try the ginger tea, it s possibly all you need to get rid of the woes of morning sickness.
Vomiting and nausea could be the most terrible part of pregnancy. Even so, it can be controlled
when you understand the several natural cures for morning sickness. The therapies are probably
hiding within your kitchen. If you happen to know them, you may not have to go elsewhere.

Regulation And Economic Growth Essay
THE IMPACT OF REGULATION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES:
A CROSS COUNTRY ANALYSIS
1
ABSTRACT
The role of an effective regulatory regime in promoting economic growth and development has
generated considerable interest among researchers and practitioners in recent years. In particular,
building effective regulatory structures in developing countries is not simply an issue of the
technical design of the most appropriate regulatory instruments, it is also concerned with the quality
of supporting regulatory institutions and capacity. This paper explores the role of state regulation
using an econometric model of the impact of regulation on growth. The results based on two
different techniques of estimation suggest a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rest of the paper is organised as follows. Section 2 reviews issues in the literature pertinent to
the debate on the role of regulation in economic growth, before turning to regulatory measures and
proxies for the quality of regulation. In section 3 the models used are presented. Section 4 deals
with a descriptive analysis of the data and reports the
regression results. The results confirm that the quality of state regulation impacts positively on
economic growth. development policy. Finally, section 5 provides conclusions and the implications

LITERATURE REVIEW (a) Regulation Theory
The theory of economic regulation developed from the nineteenth century and the literature is
now vast (for recent reviews, see Laffont and Tirole, 1993, 2000; Levy and Spiller, 1994; Newbery,
1999). The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of
significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from
information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and
externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that
market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in
developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). More recent theoretical contributions to the regulation
literature have provided a model of regulation for network industries that recognises the

The Monarch Butterfly Essay
The monarch butterfly, as known as Danaus plexippus, is often called the milkweed butterfly
because its larvae eat the milkweed plant. They are also sometimes called royalty butterflies
because their family name comes from the daughter of Danaus, ruler of Argos. There are many
other interesting facts about this butterflyincluding its anatomy and life cycle, where the butterfly
lies on the food chain, the migration from Canada to Mexico, why the butterfly is being threatened,

Finally, the butterfly hangs from the pupa about two hours while the wings dry (Emmel, 1999).
Monarchs do not have many predators expect for man. The monarch s trick to not being eating it

think twice before trying to eat them. Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has
toxins which make the wings of the butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks
nectar while the caterpillar eats the milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is
Asclepias ssp. or milkweed (Wexler, 1994). The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh

generations of monarchs (Clattenburg, 2004). Scientists do not know why they migrate, but there
are different theories. The first theory is the change of light in fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others
scientists claim the monarchs have a chemical in their bodies in which they are attracted to Mexico
where the congregate in certain trees (Clattenburg, 2004). The latter does not explain why
monarchs stay in Southern Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999). Three different things are

The Death Of Movie Theaters Essay
The Death of Movie Theaters?
How Netflix and Hulu are changing the movie going experience. Netflix and Hulu have become
some of the easiest and most affordable ways for college students to watch television. While these
massive online streaming companies advertise affordability, and vast amount of viewing options,
other major entertainment companies are beginning to take notice. They re being able to release
high quality movie content and original shows that are being able to rival anything that is being
made for theaters, Paul McFerron, Employee of the Branson Meadow s Cinema s, told me last week.
McFerron, having worked at the cinema for over a year now, has noticed a slight decline in the
attendance at the theater. He believes that Netflix has something to do with it.
Netflix s cost per month is around 10 dollars now. A year ago, I believe the cost was 7.99
monthly. What I m trying to say is that if you come to the theater, one ticket alone can cost around
8 dollars. Then you factor in snacks which could bump your ticket it up to 15 dollars. Plus, if the
film is in 3D, then you are looking at a 12 15 dollar ticket, and add however much you want with
concessions. The prices are steep, and I understand why some people are passing on theaters. The
option of being able to stay in the comfort of your own home is very appealing to people right
now. I mean, I myself am a college student, and I sometimes don t have enough money to go to the
movies, so the affordability

My Shield
My shield consisted of glowing Christmas lights with my family, sports, and dreams listed as
important things in my life. I had prepared my poster before the day of my speech so that I
would be able to practice before my speech the next day. Although I practiced a little before the
day of my speech, it was not enough now that I look back on how my speech went. I felt that
because I was sick 2 days before I performed my speech I was not prepared enough for when I
needed to go. As I was standing in front of my peers I was extremely nervous, and I am sure my

work on is my eye contact. During my shield speech I only looked up a few times, but I never

Alienation In Gods And Monsters By Lana Del Rey
For many aspiring people, life tends to be a struggle for happiness. Whether old or young, rich or
poor, timid or bold, people often find themselves pressured by society to change, or else they will
be rejected. Under this overwhelming pressure that one may face at some point in his or her life,
the victim will forcibly conform to the confined margins of popular society the one that states that
everyone must be the same in both mentality and body image. In the song Gods Monsters, Lana
Del Rey emphasizes the importance of self identitythrough her narrative of alienation in
Hollywood. Using an eerie tune with supernatural metaphors relating her life to the evils of
Hollywood, Del Rey ultimately conveys that every life is unique and beautiful. Gods Monsters
was written by Lana Del Rey and released on her album Paradise in late 2012, just as she made
her major debut into the music industry. The alternative pop hit bears an unusually dark
atmosphere and soft spooky vocals from Lana Del Rey. The song emphasizes an early struggle of
isolation that Lana faced as she was gaining weight in the music industry. In 2014, Gods Monsters
was featured in a musical scene on an episode of the horror TV series... Show more content on

Cross Cultural Conflicts And Cultural Values Essay
CROSS CULTURAL CONFLICTS
Abstract:
As said by Jonathan H. Turner cross cultural conflicts are differences in cultural values and beliefs
that place people at odds with one another . Generally cultural conflicts have been used to describe
crime and violence but that is a pretty narrow definition. The objective of this article is to elaborate
upon the conflicts varying across cultures, not only criminal but also cover various other aspects of
it such as identity conflicts, conflicts in ethnic and culture, etc. Globalisation has brought us closer
together. In the 21st century, we live for the first time in one global community. But it is a
community composed of many strands which must be carefully woven together into a whole. The
article shows pluralism as cross cultural conflict and goes deeper into the roots.
Introduction:
Civilization and culture today are facing various problems: the restructuring of the society, and
decreasing importance of cultural essentialism. There is an enormous cultural diversity in the world
today and people have been living with it. There are regions enriched with cultural diversity as well
as there as continents with large similarities in culture. Apart from conflicts in business and
management there are various day to day problems/differences which arise namely: Gender
differences in child rearing, behaviour across cultures, etc.
Civilizations are depicted as independent social spheres, which as a whole have a major effect on

The Start of My Love for Wrestling
I believe wrestling is one of the hardest sports around the world. There are only a few who stick
around throughout the season because they are willing to endure the pain. I had difficulties
deciding which sport to play, and I chose the one that called out to me the most. I had difficulties
throughout the season at first, and then I loved wrestlingeven more after it ended.
Ever since I was little and saw WWE RAW, a wrestling TV show, for the first time, I enjoyed
watching wrestling on TV. I would always jump up throwing my arms in the air when my
favorite wrestler was winning. I would invite some of my friends over on Saturdays to mimic
the wrestling moves that the wrestlers were doing from the TV on a trampoline in my backyard
during the afternoon because it looked awesome and it was very fun. The wrestling TV show
inspired me to join wrestling in High School. During my freshmen year in Oroville High School
the winter sports basketball and wrestling were about to start. I kept asking myself Agh, why do
both of the sports I want to play have to be at the same time? After the second week of school

play basketball because you got a fine arm.

Some farming takes place on the steep mountain coast and much of the gold of the Aztec Empire is
believed to have come from this region.
The Chiapas highlands have great blocklike mountains that rise more than 9,000 feet above sea
level. This region consists of relatively flat surfaces at high attitudes called the tablelands, which
are farmed by Indians who speak Maya and other ancient languages. With irrigation, farmers grow
coffee, fruits, and other crops.
Yucatan Peninsula is a low limestone plateau with no rivers. Limestone dissolves in the water and
rainfall reaches the sea through underground channels dissolved out of the rock. Great pits have
formed where the roofs of these channels have fallen in and these huge pits were sacred wells of
the ancient Mayas Indians. The north part of the region is dry bushland. To the south, the rainfall

The climate of Mexico varies sharply from region to region. Dry conditions exist over the whole

Stereopsis Impairment
Stereopsis is an impairment that prevents those who have it from seeing clearly. Stereopsis
vision can be described as viewing an image during the presence of aberrations. The apparatus is
a tool that can give the viewer the ability to see one clear image when confronted with images that
are shown to be of slightly different angles. The author of this article believed that if the apparatus
can be operated to converge two images then more information may be obtained relating to the
association of binocular vision and stereopsis impairment. By obtaining this information it is
possible that Stereopsis Impairment can be cured for those who have it. It is important to be able
to cure the impairment that has been affecting lives for years.

Implications Of Health Economics Concepts For Healthcare
Implications of Health Economics Concepts for Healthcare Chandra Chisholm Strayer University
HAS 510 Dr. David Tataw May 3, 2015 Value of Healthcare Professionals Healthcare is getting
gradually complex around the world. The need for technological development, economic support,
demographics changes and the study of diseases are shifting at a fast speed. There had been
numerous labors in describing collective capabilities and values within the healthcare organizations.
It is necessary for learning and training programs to be regulated based on the needs of the
humanities they support. Therefore, the institutions that are designing and delivering those
activities must take responsibility for the products they manufacture for the use of the society.
Hence, Academic institutions that are in charge of educating healthcare professionals together with
their various stakeholders must interact in collaboration to create actual and proficient strategies
that will promote suitable culture in the healthcare systems. Current medical education process has
its origins in the European institutions of higher learning that customarily cherished academic
freedom, sovereignty and self regulating exploration over helping humanity and the job market.
Based on this, further efforts want an important shift in the viewpoint and procedures of success for
educational organizations. Instead of being single contributor, academic world should become the

Labor Relations, Unions, And Safety Issues
Labor Relations
Due to issues in the past with labor relations, unions were started by employees to help employees
and management to work out the differences. These unions helped workers work out issues with
management regarding employment conditions, pay, and safety issues, along with the employee s

(Youssef, 2013). Thanks to the National Labor Relations Act, many issues were addressed in the
past that concerned employees. This is where Human Resource managers had to work hard
towards preserving the reliability of the organization. No one wants to work in any job that

they should get whatever they want because if they did not, then they would file complaints

The Murder In The Shadows Short Story Analysis
There are two fundamental characters in each work. In Poe s The Murders in the Rue Morgue,
there are the detective C. Auguste Dupin and the storyteller. In Rampo s The Beast in the
Shadows, the detective is called Akechi Kogoro and the storyteller lead the story. Poe presents the
model of the detective who is constantly sharp and carefully observe everything in The Murders in
the Rue Morgue, surprisingly. The characters in the two stories are similar. For instance, the two
detectives almost have the same hobby. I think that it is because of Dupin and Akechi do the
same thing for a living as a detective. Detectives are typically men of sharp perception and are
great at inferring a conclusion. Hence, the two like perusing books. In The Murders in the Rue
Morgue, the storyteller outlines the first run through when detective Dupin and the storyteller
meet at the library where there are many books. In The Beast in the Shadows , there is likewise a
delineation of Akechi s room which is loaded with various books. There is additionally a vital

The Pros And Cons Of Unemployment In Namibia
Unemployment can either be described in a stringent manner or in the broad manner.
Unemployment in a stringent manner refers to all persons within the working age group who
are without work, but are available for work and actively seeking work (Bryne Strobl, 2001).
Unemployment in broad manner refers to all persons within the working age group, who are
available for work irrespective of whether or not they are actively seeking work. The two
definitions differ on whether an unemployed person is actively looking for work or not. There are
a few different types of unemployment, such as the structural, frictional and cyclical
unemployment. Structural unemployment is commonly a result of change in technology, the
constant improvement and introduction of new devices in the business world. If we look at the
farming industry, making use of human labor to work in the fields in the past but now because
of technology most farmers make use of machines. This means that the only people who are
really needed are the semi skilled laborers who are able to operate machines. Frictional
unemployment is common in all economies. It entails individuals having to look for work that fits
the specific skills they have. This process requires time and energy since the person looking for a
job has to find an employer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the rapid growth in proportion to the youth in the population has not been met by a
corresponding growth in economic opportunities for the youth, thereby creating an equally historic
number of unemployed youth. The economic growth has averaged between 4 % and 5%, in the
National Planning Commission (NPC) (2015) however it has been a jobless growth. This is an
indicator that the labor market is too small to absorb the unemployed youth of

volatile.1 The Bielskis had been a Jewish farming family in the nearby village of Stankiewicze,
and the brothers knew the region well. They were practicing Jews who ran a water mill and the

As well as this, productive working relationships enable consistent messages to be communicated to
the shareholders to keep them informed about the business. Improved customer service can also be
seen with working relationships, which is important in the retail industry and no less so when
working in a company such as GAP and according to their training programme, Provide exceptional
customer service, to meet their customer s requirements.
Developmental Stages
From the early stages of a team forming, to the end when a team complete its goal(s) there are
many dis agreements that need to resolved and many responsibilities to be taken up and these are
shown, (albeit with differing opinions), by several theorists.
In 1965, B. Tuckman published his idea of how groups assemble by using his Forming, Storming,
Norming and Performing model . You could say that his theory is a helpful explanation of team
development, but they may differ from one individual to another. The model does explain how the
team develops its maturity, through establishing working relationships. It also connotes the
leadership style changing; from a directing style, to coaching, then participating and delegating
before almost being detached.
Stage one of his model is the Forming stage, where the leader must be prepared to answer many
questions about the team s purpose and objectives. Usual team processes are often ignored and
there is also a high dependence on

Italian American Culture
With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they found some
interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how they acted and dealt with
Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of hardships, to learning that the American
standard was not as strict as it was in Italy. Most of the men in our room worked at digging the
sewer. Bartolo got them the work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged
them for board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took
advantage of the newer Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter as well. While
they were trying to find a step to settle on, they had people who have been residents for a while
use these people, until they stood up and became more independent. There are examples of
when something good was taught to Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight
in accepting abuse. In Rosa s journey of working in America she broke a lamp and started
breaking down in tears, but then a lady said, But Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That
lamp was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to keep it (Rosa 221). This demonstrates
that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright, because it was a natural error that
was accepted instead of a death penalty. In the school system, stereotypes took a role in younger
Italian children and what they were good at. The main character in Mount

The Issue Of Child Marriage Essay
Child marriage is one of the hardest things a teenage child could face. It is basically a violation
of children s human rights. It is strictly prohibited by international law. Early marriage takes
away the girls right to make important decisions about their sexual health and well being.
Historically, patriarchal societies have marginalized women in various aspects across the world.
Women disenfranchisement, in this way, is not a new phenomenon. However, with the passage
of time women have been able to claim their rights and are seen at par with men in many
developed societies. But the misfortune still persists in many parts of the world. Many societies
still fail to see woman as fully human and fail to appreciate their role in the building of society. As
a result, women are still subject to grave injustice in many societies and such societies also suffer
from underdevelopment for minimal role of women in their development. Nepal is a country where
women suffer from the issue of Child or Early Marriages . This is a century s long practice in Nepal
and unfortunately nothing significant has appeared in form of tangible indicators that indicate the
improvement in this grave scenario. International community and NGOs are working on this issue
of Nepal as their priority but unfortunately with little success. Nepal government has also been
brought in line on this and it has committed to ensure elimination of this devastating practice by
2030 BS. With its universal consequences,

Motivation and Empowerment

CJA/474: Managing Criminal Justice Personnel
November 26, 2012
Instructor: Pam McIver
The term motivation and empowerment is a universal concept that is hoped to work towards the
good of any organization. Motivation and empowerment does not come from rewards to employees
but instead, recognition, responsibility and advancement. Leaders who are effective in motivating
and empowering their staff have acquired a great achievement, which can increase efficiency, and
self development of skills and abilities. When employers are concerned about the welfare and
needs of their staff, this provides trust among staff. The purpose of this paper is to compare

It was never believe that an individual had to display every quality on the list in order to be
considered empowered (Tom Roger, 2011).
Analyze the implications of empowerment and delegation in a criminal justice organization
Today the style and practices of police leadership is changing rapidly. The term shared leadership is
one being used by many police chiefs all across the country. They believe that this approach to
management by sharing power and influence to individuals within the organization, who are
otherwise hierarchical unequal, will view their leadership as a leadership which looks at the
broader aspect of giving authority to employees which will allow them to make decisions, solve
problems, and be held accountable for their actions (Mussellwhite, 2007).
Whenever officers are empowered they become dedicated to their jobs. Because they are given the
skills, resources, authority, opportunity to be motivated and committed to their jobs, roles, or
duties. Something which is refers to as being dedicated. Employees empowerment in a police
department which delegate assignments, allow officers to take responsibility of their jobs results. It
also allows them to make decisions about it. When officers are delegated with responsibilities, it
makes them think in decision making, take control, behave, and take actions responsively, because
they know that they will be held accountable

The Importance Of The First Language Acquisition
During the first two or three years of development, a child requires interaction with other language
users in order to bring the general language capacity into contact with a particular language such as
English. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010)
It is very important for a child to hear a certain language and to interact with others who are using
this certain language in order to produce the language because a child is acquiring the language
from his environment as it is not genetically inherited. Hearing language sounds is not enough to
acquire a language, but interacting with others who are using this language is a crucial requirement
for the first language acquisition.
So, in order to speak a language, a child must be able to hear that language being used. (Yule, The
Study of Language, 2010)
A child who is doing so must be physically capable of hearing a language hearing sense and
producing sounds. Deaf infants stop making cooing and babbling noises after six months unlike the
normal hearing infants who are making these noises during their first year.
Under normal circumstances, human infants are certainly helped in their language acquisition by
the typical behavior of older children and adults in the home environment who provide language
samples, or input, for the child. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010)
Acquiring a language should be by the help of others in a child`s environment like his mother,
father and grandparents who are using simplified

Gender Stereotypes In The Sitcom American Dad
American Dad is an animated TV sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt
Weitzman to characterize the different members of an american family. MacFarlane and his
colleagues put a twist on the average family by exaggerating each member s role. The main
characters in the series are Stan Smith who plays the father, Francine Smith playing the mother,
Roger who is an alien and must disguise himself to keep from being noticed, Steve Smith who is
the son, Hayley Smith the liberal daughter, and Klaus Heissler who plays a german olympic ski
jumper trapped in the form of a fish. The idea for American Dad was born during the election
period in which the Bush administration was prevalent. The creators were frustrated with the battle
amongst potential presidents, especially with Bush and they decided to create a show to... Show

It seems as if it is taboo to talk about women s menstruals especially around males but when it
comes to everything else dealing with women and their bodies, men would engage in the
discussion and care about the topic at hand. Francine continues to show Stan that they could save
money and he continuously ignored her requests. This is an example of how women are deemed
more responsible and conservative than men. Stan was so focused on his truck meanwhile
Francine was focused on what would help the entire household. The last example that I pulled
from this episode about women was when the daughter, Hayley Smith was talking to Klaus about
convincing her father to turn him back into a human. Klaus was upset with her for stating her
opinion because she is a female and she is a liberal therefore, anything that she says to her father
will not be considered. This is another stereotype that females are unstable and do not make good
decisions which is something that the creators try to play

Loan Agencies And The Federal Housing Authority
In the year 2000, the stock market crashed whichshifted thepeople s money away from the stock
market and into the housing market. Many people were buying homes, which led to banks
offering more loans, including subprimed loans. Most loans, specifically, subprimed loans began
going into default once the credit markets froze in the summer 2007. Things began to deteriorate
rapidly. The offering of subprimed loans stopped completely and interest rates for other types of
borrowing such as corporate loans and consumer loans rose dramatically. Since the interest rates of
loans were so high, home owners were not able to afford to make payments, which caused them to
be evicted from their homes. In 2013, the government introduced new laws and... Show more

In the new system, Fannie Mae has also allowed buyers to mortgage homes for 3 percent down, if
the buyer has good credit and does not have enough money to close the deal.
The Federal Housing Authority has put a similar plan together called the Back to Work Program
which can help the buyer return to the housing market in as little as one year if the buyer is able to
meet certain guidelines. The guidelines included in the Back to Work Program are: the buyer must
pay their bills on time, had a 20 percent reduction in income, and a minimum credit score of 620.
The Back to Work Program , has strict guidelines to make sure that the buyer is responsible, they
must pay their bills on time and cannot miss one payment, or else they will be ineligible for the
program. The 20 percent reduction in income must be demonstrated to be in the result of loss of
employment and the reduction in income must be for a duration of 6 months. The Federal Housing
Authority primarily requires the boomerang buyerthat is purchasing a home to have an hour long
credit counseling session with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, after the
session is completed a plan is created for the buyer.

El Salvador s Impact On The United States
The area that is currently El Salvador was originally comprised of 3 vast indigenous states and
various territories. The Pipils, indigenous occupants who settled in present day Mexico, are a
nomadic people that originated from Nahua. The Lencas settled and represented the eastern district
while the Mayan the Chortis occupied the North zone of the Lempa Hi River.
In 1524, Spanish conquistador Pedro de Alvarado neglected to seize area in light of the Pipil
warriors. Be that as it may, in 1525 he returned and effectively vanquished the nation and named it
El Salvador which English translation means, The Savior . In 1811, the longings for freedom
reverberated throughout the country, yet was quickly pounded by the troops sent by neighboring
country Guatemala. In 1821, El Salvador and other Central American nations declared
independence from Spain and were joined to Mexico the following year, however El Salvador
opposed the union. The nation turned into an autonomous republic in 1838 after the Central
American coalition separated.
Geology
El Salvador is the least expansive nation in Central America and is no bigger than the state of
Massachusetts. This precipitous nation is flanked by the Pacific Ocean, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Known as the Land of Volcanoes, El Salvador has incessant seismic tremors and volcanic
movement. It is the sole nation in Central America that does not have a coastline on the Caribbean
Sea. Also, the backwoods of El Salvador have been chopped down

  • 2. A Summary Of Living Beyond Limits Amy Purdy s TED talk, Living Beyond Limits , empowers people to push past their boundaries. She encourages people to embrace their differences and obstacles in life that would normally set them back. Purdy explained that after she had graduated from high school, she moved from a large desert to somewhere that snowed, and she became a massage therapist. She finally felt in control of her own life. Unfortunately, this was all for a very short time because one day soon after, she left her job early because of what she thought was the flu. Realistically, Purdy had contracted bacterial meningitis, and was soon laying in the hospital on life support. She lost both of her legs from the knee down, hearing in her left ear, and both of her kidneys. After she healed, she tried on a new pair prosthetic legs, and she grew frustrated and immediately felt as though her life would be restricted and confined forever, that her new legs would impact her life in a very negative way. After a few months of moping and feeling sorry for herself, she started to view her position in a new light. She decided she must embrace her new legs, and learn how to work with them, instead of working against them. She found many benefits to having prosthetic legs, and it made her realize that her legs weren t a curse. After realizing all of the positives, Purdy was able to continue with her life, and as time went on, she overcame even more obstacle by staying positive. Four months after Purdy s health scare, ... • 3. The People Processes New Information Based On Their... People processes new information based on their learning styles. VAK learning styles are designed to describe how an individual processes information. VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. The VAK learning style uses these three senses in order to determine a person s dominate learning style. In theory, an individual usually prefers to learn through one of these senses more than another. Everybody, including your family members, friends and strangers may have the same or a different learning style. Some individuals have a mixture of these three learning styles, which is not uncommon. It all depends on how one perceives and retains information. As individuals we all learn differently. Although people have a dominate style of learning; most learners tend to use all three senses to understand information given to them. These three styles include: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic. For example, one might prefer a type of learning over another in order to complete a task rather than their own dominate learning style. By understanding the three learning styles, it can help out a student to better able to focus on his or her studying on specific techniques to increase their level of knowledgeand perhaps help them through a difficult class. Visual learners tend to learn and remember through seeing and reading. This can involve pictures, handouts, diagrams or demonstrations. Auditory learning involves listening to information in order to learn through words instead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Global Warming Is A Real Problem Climate Change is an important topic that everyone should be well versed on. Global warming was denied as being a real problem for many years, but the proof cannot be hidden anymore and countries around the world are acknowledging that global warming does exist. It is my pleasure to know that our country will participate in the United Nations Climate Summit. As the CEO of an environmentally conscious company, it is my honor to represent the United States of America at the Summit. Climate Change refers to changes in the Earth s climate caused by increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide and other pollutants produced by human activity. Global warming is the increase of the average surface temperature on Earth caused by the excess release of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases occur naturally, but in excess it could be harmful to the Earth. Composition of greenhouse gases traps heat from the sun, and this is what helps the Earth stay warm enough to sustain life. The more heat they trap, the warmer the earth gets, and as the planet gets warmer it creates climate changes. The greenhouse gases that are making the earth warmer are generated by human activity. One of the main greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide, which is being mostly released by the burning of fossil fuels. Other gases are Methane, which is released through industrial and agricultural processes and Nitrogen Dioxide which is a product of some industrial processes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Examples Of Classroom Observation For Children For my classroom observation, I am placed with Alice Hunt at Genesis Child Care Center. It has a very nice atmosphere and the children all seem to really enjoy their cooperating teacher and classroom. My classroom has a lot of positive areas and is beneficial to the children s development and learning. On the other hand, there is some room for improvement inside the classroom. I think by adding some things to the classroom and taking some things away would help the classroom become a bettermore interactive classroom for the children. There are some things as a future educator that I would like to bring into the classroom that I feel would implement the classroom also. The three things that I feel are very positive for the children and that I feel makes the classroom a positive environment is for starters the artwork and their writings placed around the room. Having the children s artwork and other work around the room is crucial for building a strong relationship with the child and the parents see that you care about everyone s work. Also, the children build a very strong confidence to keep improving on their artwork or their own writings. The article that Natasha read from our discussion board recently said that by having the artwork placed on the walls through the classroom the children feel a part of the classroom and that s exactly how my children feel when they walk through the doors. The Mongols And The Mongol Empire Melwin Varghese Ms. Holzinger TOK 1 per. 2 18 August 2014 Were the Mongols able to conquer such vast areas of land because of their superior battle tactics or because of the tools and weapons the Mongols used? I. Introduction The Mongols were made up of many fierce tribes originating from the steppes of central Asia. They were able to take over large parts of the known world in a matter of a few decades. The Mongol empire was the greatest and largest continuous land empire the world has ever known. Relatively shortly after Genghis Khan, leader of the Mongol forces, died, the huge Mongol empire split into four Khanates that were ruled separately and independently. Ultimately these empires also failed after a period of time but the Mongols had a long standing influence on numerous cultures not only of Asia but also of the Western world. Genghis Khan was the leader of the Mongol forces. Originally named Temujin, he gave himself the name Genghis Khan. The Khan s name has many different translations and one of them is oceanic sovereign (Jarus). He was a natural born tactician and conquered many great empires through clever, crafty, and many times cruel ways to beat the enemy. Genghis Khan died shortly before he was about to start a campaign against China and the Shin Empire. By Genghis Khan s death, the Mongol Empire stretched from China all the way to Egypt. It is pretty simple why companies do choose to go public. Companies go public usually to have access to more money (Martin, 2017). Companies have two ways they can increase funding. They can sell bonds or sell shares. Although when it comes to selling bonds a company has to remember that they still have to pay interest on the money they have borrowed and pay it all back (Martin, 2017). This is why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling shares instead. Companies want more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be able to build up their savings too. Plus, companies need more money for when they start new projects. When a company goes public it is not always positive. One disadvantage of going public is the owner or owners of a company cannot manage the company like it is his or her private company anymore. The business must make sure and acknowledge that they are responsible to shareholders and will need to make sure that they have quarterly calls and explain their business actions and why they made the choices they did. A company making this transition and going through this process can longer just do what they want and get away with it. They have to take the responsibility and remember to respect shareholders in order to have a successful company and continue to grow. Another disadvantage carrying from the last issue is that all ... First of all, Groupon was the first to transport the traditional Coupon clipping to the online world. This opened many opportunities. It was something new, exciting to consumers that they hadnВґt seen in this way. So Groupon had a first mover advantage even though they only connected already existing ideas and technologies in a new way. Making the offers timesensitive triggers a feeling in consumers that they might miss out on a chance that will not repeat itself if they donВґt act now. The thrill of seeing how much time is left on a coupon and how many others are acting as well, appeals to a personВґs addictive behavior. We wantto repeat the thrill of the bargain hunt. Groupon then made many moves to foster and expand its initial success. It expanded rapidly into more cities and later on even more countries. It fostered its connection with social media and the online world by setting up an affiliate marketing program that allowed bloggers and websites to earn commissions. This online referral was also expanded by giving consumers a direct incentive to refer Groupon by offering them a 10$ reward towards a future purchase. Groupon also heavily invested in paid search engine advertising and even created an ad that was shown during half time of the super bowl. So, to sum up, Groupon made sure that its existence spread as fast and as much as possible. 2. Local merchants have a mixed reaction about Groupon. Although extracurricular activities can make grades suffer, and stress students out, schools shouldn t control the after schoolinvolvement of students because it could help develop a work ethic, lead to getting scholarships and help build a collegeresume. One reason why schools should not control the number of extracurricular activities a student can join is it can deny them the chance to develop a high work ethic. The Naval Academy saw his grades and realized they were decent grades, but they also realized he was involved in baseball, ROTC, multiple bands and his classes and that s what persuaded the Naval Academy to accept him. What if a student has straight B s all through High school, but was involved in tons of after school stuff? Does that mean he can t make it into a prestigious university? Absolutely not. The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). While these massive online streaming companies advertise affordability, and vast amount of viewing options, other major entertainment companies are beginning to take notice. They re being able to release high quality movie content and original shows that are being able to rival anything that is being made for theaters, Paul McFerron, Employee of the Branson Meadow s Cinema s, told me last week. McFerron, having worked at the cinema for over a year now, has noticed a slight decline in the attendance at the theater. He believes that Netflix has something to do with it. Netflix s cost per month is around 10 dollars now. A year ago, I believe the cost was 7.99 monthly. What I m trying to say is that if you come to the theater, one ticket alone can cost around 8 dollars. Then you factor in snacks which could bump your ticket it up to 15 dollars. Plus, if the film is in 3D, then you are looking at a 12 15 dollar ticket, and add however much you want with concessions. The prices are steep, and I understand why some people are passing on theaters. The option of being able to stay in the comfort of your own home is very appealing to people right now. Whether old or young, rich or poor, timid or bold, people often find themselves pressured by society to change, or else they will be rejected. Under this overwhelming pressure that one may face at some point in his or her life, the victim will forcibly conform to the confined margins of popular society the one that states that everyone must be the same in both mentality and body image. In the song Gods Monsters, Lana Del Rey emphasizes the importance of self identitythrough her narrative of alienation in Hollywood. Using an eerie tune with supernatural metaphors relating her life to the evils of Hollywood, Del Rey ultimately conveys that every life is unique and beautiful. Gods Monsters was written by Lana Del Rey and released on her album Paradise in late 2012, just as she made her major debut into the music industry. The alternative pop hit bears an unusually dark atmosphere and soft spooky vocals from Lana Del Rey. Labor Relations, Unions, And Safety Issues Labor Relations Due to issues in the past with labor relations, unions were started by employees to help employees and management to work out the differences. These unions helped workers work out issues with management regarding employment conditions, pay, and safety issues, along with the employee s rights. Because of issues in the past, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) was created (Youssef, 2013). Thanks to the National Labor Relations Act, many issues were addressed in the past that concerned employees. No one wants to work in any job that might cause him or her harm or never offer a raise or advancement in the company. This area also helped women to advance in careers. Unfortunately, many women were discriminated against or passed over in many jobs in the past. In today s world, some women take it for granted that they should get whatever they want because if they did not, then they would file complaints against the company. For example, in a call center I worked for we had a causal dress code. Several younger women wanted to push it to be able to wear shorter shorts, tank tops or spaghetti strap tops during the summer. When they were denied their request, they contacted the corporate office and claimed that they were being discriminated against. Unemployment in a stringent manner refers to all persons within the working age group who are without work, but are available for work and actively seeking work (Bryne Strobl, 2001). Unemployment in broad manner refers to all persons within the working age group, who are available for work irrespective of whether or not they are actively seeking work. Italian American Culture With Italians traveling to America to find a new world to explore and evolve in, they found some interesting changes, and stereotypes that ended up transforming how they acted and dealt with Americans. Italian American culture was a transition of hardships, to learning that the American standard was not as strict as it was in Italy. Most of the men in our room worked at digging the sewer. Bartolo got them the work and they paid him one quarter of their wages. Then he charged them for board... (36 Black Boot Barn). This quote demonstrates to us, that people took advantage of the newer Italian immigrants setting them not only a job, but shelter as well. While they were trying to find a step to settle on, they had people who have been residents for a while use these people, until they stood up and became more independent. There are examples of when something good was taught to Italians, and they realized that America was not as uptight in accepting abuse. In Rosa s journey of working in America she broke a lamp and started breaking down in tears, but then a lady said, But Rosa, they said, you did a good thing! That lamp was terrible! Somebody gave it to us so we had to keep it (Rosa 221). This demonstrates that, sometimes, breaking something or messing up was alright, because it was a natural error that was accepted instead of a death penalty. The Importance Of The First Language Acquisition During the first two or three years of development, a child requires interaction with other language users in order to bring the general language capacity into contact with a particular language such as English. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010) It is very important for a child to hear a certain language and to interact with others who are using this certain language in order to produce the language because a child is acquiring the language from his environment as it is not genetically inherited. Hearing language sounds is not enough to acquire a language, but interacting with others who are using this language is a crucial requirement for the first language acquisition. So, in order to speak a language, a child must be able to hear that language being used. (Yule, The Study of Language, 2010) A child who is doing so must be physically capable of hearing a language hearing sense and producing sounds. Deaf infants stop making cooing and babbling noises after six months unlike the normal hearing infants who are making these noises during their first year.
