London to Bath. It got late and the porter recommended him to stay at a place called, The Bell and
Dragon . On his way a sign go his attention that was, Bed and Breakfast and the sign compelled him to

offers him dinner, which Billy refuses. The landlady then adds that he must go downstairs and sign the
guest book, because it is the law. He found the guest book and signed it, noticing that there were only
two entries before his, Christopher Mulholland and Gregory Temple. As the landlady walks into the

Statement Of Instrumentation Technology
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The thirst for knowledge and the urge to make the world a better place to live is pushing mankind
deeper into the unknown realms of technology and science. There is a paradigm shift in health care
that has resulted in a need to integrate information, technology and health care. This revolution has
brought about a wave of transformation in the way technology has influenced the health care sector.

There was an instance when my father had severe Hyperglycemia, which required constant monitoring
by medical personnel and also required administration of insulin at regular intervals. It was during this
time I conceived the idea of automating the patient monitoring and infusion systems. Having had the

Analysis Of Dennis Reynolds s The Show It s Always...
Dennis Reynolds, of the show It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is a narcissistic man in his early
thirties. Raised by stepfather Frank Reynolds, a successful business man with unethical methods, and
mother Barbara Reynolds, a selfish woman who only married Frank for his wealth. Dennis and his
twin sister Dee were raised wealthy but were often misguidedly taught to not seek affection through
materials. For example, every Christmas Frank would buy gifts for his children only to destroy it
while the children watched. Dennis attended the University of Pennsylvania to become a veterinarian
while minoring in Psychology. He often tries to use his Psychology minor to his advantage, an
example being his attempt to psychoanalyze his friends whilst berating the actual psychiatrist and
mocking her for attending a subpar university. His academic studies were unable to translate into a
career, however he is co owner of the bar, Paddy s Pub in Philadelphia. Dennis along with his sister
Dee, father Frank, and two friends Mac and Charlie, use the bar as a hangout spot often concocting
schemes and shenanigans. Though the bar makes very little money, Dennis maintains his lavish
lifestyle with his father s money often wearing high end clothing, driving a Land Rover, and getting
into sticky situations while placing little care on the financial ramifications. Dennis is vain, narcissistic
and has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. He cares very little for others unless it is

Broca s Case Study
Broca s area is one of the association areas of the cortex that is in the left frontal lobe. It is responsible
for making a speech and talking easily and smoothly, though Broca s area is more responsible for the
collaboration between frontal, temporal and motor areas that are responsible for speech production
than forming the speech itself and the inability to form smooth and clear speech is a consequence of a
damage to this area. This part of the brain allows the people at the pizza party to talk one another, to
discuss about the pizza. One person shared his pizza was too crispy. Also, they decided on which card
game they will play. Borka s area allowed them to do all that. Another part of the brain is

European Military Integration Of The United States
European Military Integration
For 65 years, Europe has had its military policy tied to that of the United States through the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During much of this period European and U.S. security
interests were aligned against a common threat in the USSR. However, the era following the collapse
of the Soviet Union has been marked by a European shift away from national sovereignty and towards
a more integrated Europe. This can be most notably observed by the adoption of a common currency
in the 18 member states of the Eurozone. Interestingly, this level of integration has not been present
with regards to the military forces of Europe despite considerable support from several powerful states
in the European Union. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Protectionism is the natural reaction to foreign competition and the EU member states have been no
exception. Article 296 of the EC Treaty offers an exemption from internal market regulations when
their application would undermine member states security. Predictably, members have employed a
loose interpretation of Article 296 in order to avoid an open market for defense contracts. They
generally prefer to procure military equipment domestically to support their defense industry. The
creation of an integrated European Military along with a single market for defense could alleviate
these shortcomings. The amalgamation of Europe s militaries into one unified entity would necessitate
military equipment standards to support cohesion. A truly connected military, designed to serve the
whole of Europe, would more effectively provide global influence, just as integration has provided
Europe more influence in the economic sphere. Additionally, a single market for defense products
would promote competition and specialization, helping the European defense sector become more
competitive in the global market as well. The adoption of a single market is likely to produce winners
and losers as the states with the least competitive firms may struggle, but the net economic effect for
Europe should be positive.

Relationship Analysis between Statutes and Case Law
Laws against discrimination in employment were developed to provide remedies for victims of this
unfortunate form of behavior that exists in America today. The following paper provides insight into

In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless
it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further
refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were
quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3).
Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows:
The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an
employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective
employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s
business.
This still left the defining of the terminology reasonably accommodate and undue hardship to the legal
system.

1. There are three different key characteristics which are fundamental for Strategic Management. The
first key characteristic is the understanding of the strategic position of an organization, followed by the
strategic choices for the future and turning strategy into action.
Beginning with strategic position the LEGO group faced different objectives which influenced the
development of strategy. The level of technology and preferences concerning materials changed over
the time and the company was able to found a niche market for LEGO movies and created new
innovations like plastic bricks. Also like in all markets the internationalization has affected the

The competition is another feature of the external environment which has influenced their strategy.
Bigger companies entered the sector with advanced electronic games. Thus they needed to reconsider
their traditional strategy which included their traditional brick. Even if they introduced a Fitness
programme to cut costs and restructure, the company just shortly made profit. External features like
the rapid change of the environment, difficulties in financial control and logistics and longer lead
times needed for running in new activities such as the new LEGOLAND parks were responsible for
their fluctuating profit. Moreover the customers are an essential external feature. The customer needs
changed from traditional to innovative which is reflected in the success of bigger companies with
electronic games. It turned out that younger customers expect more of their toys then before and that
the using time of traditional bricks decreased. For that reason LEGO came up with play themes which
connected LEGO and movies to extend the life span of LEGO bricks LEGO Star Wars was
introduced. To satisfy the customers within the new media age they created a new digital strategy
where they developed an online multiplayer (LEGO Universe). Also the internal action of renaming
LEGO DUPLO into LEGO EXPLORER affected the external factor customer who did not approve
this change and that is why sales decreased. In addition retailers

A Thousand Splendid Suns Feminist Analysis
In Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam and Laila were brought together due to
circumstances they could not control. Although they were both oppressed wives of a cruel and violent
husband, Rasheed, they were eventually able to regain power over their own lives. The two women
supported and learned from each other, finding strength in their relationship. Their relationship was an
alliance of sorts and was essential to their ability to regain power over their lives. Once Mariam and
Laila befriended each other, they each started to gain courage and hope and began to take more control
over their lives in separate, small acts of courage and rebellion that eventually led to significant events
which cemented their newly regained power. The developing of power did not come without
obstacles, but Mariam and Laila were able to persevere and continue to stand up for themselves
against both Rasheed and their societal constraints. Finding strength and motivation from each other
and from other loved ones essential to their efforts, Mariam and Laila were able to take power over
their own lives by standing up to and retaliating against oppressors in a series of events which led to
the pivotal moment when Mariam kills Rasheed, finally setting both women free and giving them both

Essay On Supervisor
A supervisor watching over your shoulder while you work is disconcerting and can undermine your
confidence. Constant, unnecessary comments, questions, and interruptions by your boss decrease your
productivity and are often just downright irritating. If you ve yet to experience micromanagement in
the workplace, consider yourself lucky, so far. At some point, though, you re bound to encounter it,
and being able to identify what it is, why it is, and what you can do about it will help you handle the
situation gracefully. The Involved Manager Sometimes managers will frequently inquire about a task,

closely participate in operations. Though this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they do return time and time again, perhaps preempting them to offer updates on your progress will
help relieve their anxiety. If your boss has a specific concern, a looming deadline, for example, they
will probably appreciate being able to take updates off of their mental to do list. It s important to listen
to feedback, answer questions, and offer assurance to your boss when it s needed. However, if their
anxiety driven micromanaging is keeping you from doing your job to the best of your ability, you need
to let them know. The goal is to instill trust and confidence that you ve got this and that you ll check in
regularly, especially if issues or uncertainties arise. The Controlling Manager There are, unfortunately,
those who micro manage as a result of deeper personality issues. This scenario isn t really at all about
managing it s about control. These supervisors have a need to constantly reaffirm their superior
position. Some even go so far as to undermine employees or situations to assuage their insecurities.
This type of micromanaging can manifest as subtle or extreme, either way, differentiating it from the
first two examples is important for formulating an appropriate response. If you think you might be
dealing with this type of manager, the previously mentioned strategies most likely will backfire. Any
attempts to reason will probably only

done in the past to show she is the one that controls their relationship.
Transition sentence: The narrator also contributes to tell about and bring shamefulness into the life of
Francis Macomber
Evidence Narrator:Sometimes Hemingway uses the narrator to further develop characteristics, such as
on page 1, The gun bearers had taken no part in the demonstration.
Explanation: The gun bearers do not verbally bring shame into Francis life, however they do bring
shame into his life by their actions. They brings shame to Francis because they know what really
happened with the lion hunt. The gun bearers not congratulating him for the kill plays a major role in
the story and the unmanliness Mr.Macomber experienced through his life.

When the practicum period started I was lost, I did not know where to begin and what to do and it
took me time to adapt to the new challenges I faced. Once I sat down and considered my options I
began searching for schools to do the practicum. The city I live in has many disadvantages as far as
education; on the one hand, English is not taught in kindergarten so I ended up teaching in a Language
School during the kindergarten period; on the other, there are not many qualified English teachers and
this resulted on very scarce feedback from the teachers who observed my lessons.
As time went by, things did not get easier; it took me three months to be accepted in the primary
school because of some issues with the Ministerio de Educación . Luckily, I did not have such
problems in the secondary school.
This portfolio helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher. As regards my teaching
skills is concerned, now that I re read all the lesson plans I made, I can say that I made some progress.
Firstly, I learn to create meaningful and effective contexts. As it can be seen in my firsts lesson plans
contexts always caused me problems. At first I considered that using a course book was more than
enough to create contexts, which is not the case. Course books are helpful inside the classroom but

Education and Pen Green Essay
Part A My essay will examine five ways of identifying a setting as inclusive. I work as a nanny in a
sole charge role, in a family home. I work with a family of 3 children, one of the little girls has
additional needs and she attends a special needs school. I will reflect on my life experiences and the
course material within this essay and how this has influenced my understanding of inclusion. Inclusion
is about feeling like you belong, being valued and feeling happy within the setting and the local
community, regardless of social backgrounds, age and ability. The five criteria I have chosen are The
name of the setting, social inclusion, the curriculum, setting funding, and the view of inclusion

The Importance Of America s Voting Age
American youth, the demographic most important to America s future, are often excluded from
political processes and omitted from election ballots in just about every way. It is my mission as a
Junior Statesman and a high school student to break this substandard negative trend, which tarnishes
American democracy, by encouraging youth to become more politically active.
America s voting age requirement is 18. As a result, teenagers often feel disenfranchised by the
political system, turning away from political involvement and civic engagement. Unable to participate
in the political system, shut out from the democratic process, teenagers today are just opting out,
neglecting current events until they re older and can actually make a difference,

Qualitative Research Study And Action Research Essay
Introduction
Qualitative research plays an important role in evidenced based practice. Qualitative research often lay
down the platform for added official quantitative studies or a follow up to a broad quantitative study.
Qualitative research is a subjective design that investigates exceptional life concepts in a naturalistic
setting using narrative descriptions as the findings (Polit Beck, 2017). There are six general types of
qualitative research designs, namely phenomenological, ethnographic, historical, grounded theory,
case study and action research, each one of these research design studies distinct human experiences
phenomena (Polit Beck, 2017). The phenomenological research design studies the human
understanding or knowledge base through descriptions that are afforded from lived experiences while
the ethnographic design comprises data collection and analysis related to cultural groups (Polit Beck,
2017). Qualitative research is opposite of quantitative research, quantitative research counts on
numerical and measurable with scales, tools, and intervention, it focuses on tightly controlled
variables in a structured setting to provide explanation of laws and qualitative design is more flexible
with variables and wants to understand the participants behaviors (Polit Beck, 2017).
Validity in Qualitative Research Designs
Qualitative research validity relates to the dependability and trustworthiness of data, events, and
activities as indicated from research

Fashion Brand Marketing
Introduction BULGARI, Italy s exclusive Rome based jeweller, has shown a meteoric growth since its
inception in 1884, expanding from one store to become an international company. Bulgari S.p.A. is
the parent company and the owner of the BVLGARI brand: it performs coordination activities in the
areas of product development, marketing, finance, information systems and management of human

Giorgio and Costantino had their first involvement in the family business during this period. By the
time the Bulgaris resumed business after the interruptions of World War I, the company had completed
its shift from an emphasis on silver to pricier bejeweled pieces. The store quickly became a place
where the world s rich and famous came for the unique, high quality jewelry designs combining Greek
and Roman art. After Sotirio died in 1932, his sons undertook an extravagant remodeling of both the
interior and the exterior of the Via Condotti store and formally changed the company logo to
BVLGARI, an application of the traditional Roman alphabet. The £2 million project took two years
and featured the pink and beige Italian marble that would become the worldwide hallmark of the firm
s retail outlets. Giorgio s global gem sourcing travels exposed him to the latest fashions in the then
Paris based jewelry industry, while Costantino s penchant for collecting ancient silver wares would
later be a source of inspiration for the company s adaptation of classical themes. Having latched onto
style trends emanating from Paris, Bulgari continued to follow the lead of what was then the world s
jewelry capital throughout the first half of the century. From inception to 1940 s: Era of the Art Deco

Personal Narrative Techniques Used In My Writing
I chose to submit this narrative due to the risks I took and the strong sense of tone and mood that were
evident in my piece. I expanded out of my comfort zone by using a lead that I wouldn t typically
gravitate towards. More often than not, I choose to use Imagery as my way of hooking the reader.
With this piece however, I chose to start from the end and I was very pleased with the outcome. I liked
that it was different, and really left the reader with a sense of suspense which made them want to
continue. The most challenging aspect of the narrative writing process for me was definitely creating
this hook, and that is partly why I was so drawn to this piece. I struggled in the beginning of the unit
to make a hook that would ultimately add ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several people, including two peer editors and a teacher I conferenced with, were able to correctly
identify the tone and mood I was trying to convey in my piece, being nervous and excitement.. I tried
to set this tone using literary devices such as imagery (sensory language), dialogue, and thoughts. The
most prominent device however, would undoubtedly be imagery. I feel as though the language and use
of the senses in my piece really helped get the mood across. An example of this can be seen when I
wrote, My heart started to pound in my chest, a constant and unyielding kick that threatened to burst at
any moment. This feeling is often associated with fear, but this wasn t fear, it was something different
and exciting all together. It was happiness. Pure happiness that overjoyed me and filled me to the brim
with this warm and exhilarating hum. I used words like exhilarating to show what a rush I was having,
and the pounding in my chest to translate into how the reader felt experiencing my piece. I included
this because right from the get go I wanted the reader to know that the overall mood would be a mix of

not really know much else. Accordingly, I did not realize how little I knew about Stonewall as an

Essay On School Vacation
It was the last day of school before summer vacation. Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery were freshman s at
Eastwood High. They were all so excited for Ashley Brown s end of school year party later that night.
Ashley was the most popular person in school and the girls felt so honored to go. Little did they know,
that night would change their lives forever. As soon as school ended, Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery
rushed home to get ready for Ashley s party.
Who is that? Taylor said as she turned and saw a person wearing a black sweatshirt and black jeans
running toward them as they were on their way home.
When Kennedy turned around the person slowed down and started to walk.
It s nobody, Kennedy said, Would you stop worrying so much?
When Kennedy turned back around the person started running again. The person caught up to them
and started asking them questions. The man asked for Avery s phone number because he claimed to be
the person from their school to send out the news.
That was weird, said Taylor, School is out and I wonder why he still wanted your phone number. Oh
well he has it it now, calm down it s just a phone number, Avery said. Avery was pretty much like any
other teenage teenage girl, but she had a very distinct personality that separated her from everyone

Judith Butler Informative Acts And Gender Constitution...
Judith Butler, in her essay Performative Acts and Gender Constitution , claims that there is no
gendered self. As opposed to Simone de Beauvoir, who believes that sex is biologically determined
and gender is a social construct, Butler believes that sex can only be read through gender, making
them both constructs. Butler argues that the male/female binary is unstable and invalid. She states that
what is called gender identity is a performative accomplishment compelled by social sanction and
taboo (Butler 901).
Butler analyzes sex and gender through a phenomenological framework. Phenomenology is the study
of structures of consciousness as experienced from the first person point of view. Butler claims that

Trajan In Dacia Research Paper
The elaborate triumph following Trajan s conquering of Dacia took place over the course of two days.
In the early morning, the procession started with musicians leading the way through the porta
triumphalis, located at the porta carmentalis (Coarelli), singing ballads of Trajan s victory. This
excited the crowd and readied them for the procession, as well these ballads played a role in
commemorating this triumph for years to come.
After the musicians, the procession continued with the display of the captured Dacian treasure. This
procession included wagons of gold and silver taken from Decebalus s treasure, hidden in the river
Sargetia. As well, there were wagons and platforms carrying other trophies found in Dacia, like the

In their tattered uniforms, they were a pathetic looking crowd. Trajan did ensure although that these
captives continue through the procession unchained. Trajan wanted them to be unchained to show that
their defeat to him was so consuming, that they did not need chains on to stop them from attempting to
escape, just the thought of Trajan scared them into obeying.
As the army walked to the forum, the generals of the Dacian army, were brought forward and executed
in front of the crowd. These generals were chased down by the jackals, brought from Dacia, which
brought the Roman citizens immense satisfaction.
After the army passed, the Dacian elite and family of the ruler, Decebalus, shuffled by. There were
forced out of their regal wear into clothes fit for slaves. This was done to show the complete lack of
power left to the Dacian Citizens. To further the dehumanization of the Dacians, the personal robes of
Decebalus were carried on a platform behind his family, along with his severed head decked with a
diadem. This was put in the triumph to mock the cowardice and memory of Decebalus.
Following the captives came trumpeters and oxen heavily ordained in jewels and garland like no
sacrifice had ever been before. In addition to the oxen, there was a beautiful lynx taken from Dacia

Examples Of Sacrifice In The Gift Of The Magi
O.Henry s warm and comforting tone and descriptive style keep the audience captivated until the end
without losing the essence of the story, which revolves around love and sacrifice. The story is about a
poor, young couple on Christmas Eve and their sacrifice and how they overcome their struggles with
love. The author s description of the couple s life gives us a clear picture of their status and financial
struggle. When the author mentions the eight dollar rent for the apartment, the old battered couch, and
the electric bell that does not work he indicates the couple is poor. The mistress of the household is

Compare And Contrast Buddhism And Christianity
Buddhism and Christianity are both prominent religions in our world today. There are over billions of
individuals across the globe who take part in the everyday rituals and practices of these two ethical
practices. However, what s so intriguing about these religions is how incompatible they genuinely are.
In Buddhism, its religious beliefs are centered around the teachings of Siddhartha Buddha. Through
the works of Buddha, he was able to discover a way to put an end to the painful cycle of rebirth, death
, and reincarnation. He learned that through extreme meditation and resentment from pleasures, you
will be able to end your cycle of suffering by attaining Nirvana(enlightenment) But, in Christianity, it
revolves around the teachings and miracles of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the anointed son of God
who came down from heaven to redeem us of our sins. It was through his miraculous works that
allowed us to be saved and have salvation in heaven with our heavenly father. In order to get to this
spiritual kingdom, Christians believe that by following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will one day be
righteously granted with the gift to live out the rest of our lives in eternal paradise with God himself.
Nevertheless, although there is a considerable amount of difference between these religions, there are
still numerous similarities. With the assistance of Smart s Seven Dimensions of Religion, these
similarities and difference can be vividly explained. Through the works

Persuasive Essay On Anti Bullying
Anti Bullying
Bullying has become a very hot topic in schools and on social media. There is a chant kids say sticks
and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me. This is totally false. In truth, words can
kill. Bullying is a fact of modern society; it can cause psychological effects and in most cases result in
self harm. I believe preventative measures to reduce bullying in schools and social media should be
taken. About twenty eight percent of student s ages 12 18 reported being bullied at school during the
school year according to the Indicators of School Crime and Safety report, by the Bureau of Justice
statistics. Across thirty nine states survey, 7.2 percent of students admit to not attending school
because they do not feel safe. The importance of bullying can t be undermined. Teachers and parents
must understand the importance of looking and listening for signs and behaviors of bullying. This will
help tackle the issue before it gets serious and someone gets hurt. To successfully prevent bullying you
must be able to spot it. Parents and teachers need to watch for instances of bullying. A person who is
isolating themselves from a group doesn t necessarily categorize a person as a loner. That could be a
sign that they are being bullied. Just by noticing those warning signs and intervening can help the
situation and possibly allow the person being bullied to find comfort in confining you. What is a
bully? A bully is a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker.
There are many types of bullying. There is verbal bullying when someone is saying or writing mean
things. Verbal bullying includes teasing, name calling, inappropriate sexual comments, and threatening
to cause self harm. Another form of bullying is social bullying. It involves hurting someone s
reputation or relationship. Social bullying includes spreading rumors about someone, telling other
children not to be friends with someone, and embarrassing someone in public. Then there is physical
bullying which involves hurting a person s body or possessions. Which includes hitting or kicking,
tripping, taking or breaking someone s things. Bullying can occur during or after school hours.

After a series of raids, the Mongols launched a major attack in 1209 that brought them to Yinchuan,
the Xi Xia capital. Although their plan to flood the city with troops failed, the emperor surrendered
and paid tribute to Genghis Kahn. Next he invaded the Jin dynasty in China. The Mongols ravaged the
country side creating a scarcity of food and sending peasants flooding into the cities. The emperor had
agreed to hand over a large amount of luxuries, but instead had his political court flee from Zhongdu,
now Beijing, to the city of Kaifeng. Genghis Kahn took this as a break in their agreement and sacked
Zhongdu to the ground. In 1219, Genghis Khan went to war against the Khwarezm Empire in present
day Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran. The sultan had agreed to a peace treaty, but
when the first Mongolian caravan arrived it was raided and its merchants killed. When Genghis Kahn
heard this, he invaded the empire and swiftly conquered it with ease. When Genghis Kahn got back he

Illegal Immigrants And Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration Over the past few years illegal immigration has become a bigger problem.
Statistics reveal that more and more immigrants are entering the country illegally by crossing the
borders. If something is not done soon, this may get out of hand and be to gone far not to handle. The
number of illegal immigrants have gone up over the past years drastically In 2011, there were 40
million immigrants in the U.S. Of that 11.1 million were illegal. Although the number of illegal
immigrants has leveled off it still is a continuing problem that should be attended to. In the next few
years the number of illegal immigrants will continue to increase. United Nations reported that 97% of
the illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. Clandestinely across the nearly 2,000 mile Mexico border,
but only 20% of those are caught. This proves that our border is our weakest link of our security
system . This proves that immigrants are crossing the border into the U.S. And getting away with it. To
prevent this something needs to be done and improve and strengthen the the Mexico border soon. With
more and more illegal immigrants entering the country, the number of immigrants will continue to
climb and crime rates will rise also. If something is not done soon it will eventually become to big of a

Essay on Class Conflict in the Great Gatsby
The main, reoccurring theme in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, is the theme of society
and class. Three separate social classes are portrayed in the novel: old money, new money, and the
lowest class known as no money. The old money class refers to those who come from families that
have fortunes. New money families are those who made their money in the Roaring Twenties and
often lavishly display their wealth. In the novel, the growing tension between the old and the new
money classes are shown through Gatsby and Tom s struggle over Daisy. The novel s narrator, Nick
Carraway, begins the novel by sharing advice his father gave him when he was younger: do not

strained himself to get this menagerie together. A breeze stirred the gray haze of Daisy s fur collar.
At least they re more interesting than the people we know, she said with an effort. (6.98 105)
By juxtaposing Gatsby and Daisy, Fitzgerald distinctly reveals the idiocy of the new money class.
Daisy comes from an environment with true values and stiff behavior, and when placed in West Egg
she finds herself unable to live with such negligence. The theme of this novel, the hollowness of the
upper class, is similarly portrayed at the very end of the novel after the death of Gatsby. The day
before Gatsby s funeral, Nick goes around in an effort to assemble more people to attend the services.
He goes to New York to try to get Meyer Wolfsheim, a friend of Gatsby, to attend the ceremony.

Financial Implications Of Gate Keeping
Financial implications of gate keeping
Gatekeeping is about the decisions made by journalists or media companies through policy; therefore,
we must look at what influences those decisions. Gatekeeping as an idea has a number of factors that
influence what information is presented and why (Soroka, 2012). Since finances is a key part of any
business and there are still those who attempt to limit the audience s access to information online, and
they do so for financial reasons (Taneja, 2013). The editors of small community media are more
concerned about revenue than those at larger publications (Donhue, Olien, Tichenor). There is an
argument that can be made that gate keeping decisions have traditionally been based on financial
considerations (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980; Soroka, 2012). Research has shown, at least
some community media outlets, that editors make decisions about what to publish based upon some
influence from the expectations their advertisers and fear of alienating the community and therefore
the publication s subscribers (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980). This is because community
media cannot exist without advertisers (Kennedy, 1974); therefore, it would be counterintuitive to
anger and alienate users. This leads to a situation where it can easily be conceived that the same
economic factors would impact gatekeeping decisions on the web.
The importance of community
The term community is elastic and can mean many things ranging from

The adoption of a single market is likely to produce winners and losers as the states with the least competitive firms may struggle, but the net economic effect for Europe should be positive. In 1966 the EEOC issued regulations that provided that employers must afford accommodation unless it would cause a serious inconvenience to the conduct of business. In 1967, this regulation was further refined to read undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. These regulations were quickly challenged as was the EEOC authority to issue such regulations. (Foltin Standish, 2004, p. 3). Finally, in 1972 Congress amended Title VII adding a new section 701(j), which reads as follows: The term religion includes all aspects of religious observance and practice, as well as belief, unless an employer demonstrates that he is unable to reasonably accommodate to an employee s or perspective employee s religious observance or practice without undue hardship on the conduct of the employer s business. As the army walked to the forum, the generals of the Dacian army, were brought forward and executed in front of the crowd. These generals were chased down by the jackals, brought from Dacia, which brought the Roman citizens immense satisfaction. After the army passed, the Dacian elite and family of the ruler, Decebalus, shuffled by. There were forced out of their regal wear into clothes fit for slaves. This was done to show the complete lack of power left to the Dacian Citizens. To further the dehumanization of the Dacians, the personal robes of Decebalus were carried on a platform behind his family, along with his severed head decked with a diadem. This was put in the triumph to mock the cowardice and memory of Decebalus. Following the captives came trumpeters and oxen heavily ordained in jewels and garland like no sacrifice had ever been before. In addition to the oxen, there was a beautiful lynx taken from Dacia being led on a gold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Compare And Contrast Buddhism And Christianity Buddhism and Christianity are both prominent religions in our world today. There are over billions of individuals across the globe who take part in the everyday rituals and practices of these two ethical practices. However, what s so intriguing about these religions is how incompatible they genuinely are. In Buddhism, its religious beliefs are centered around the teachings of Siddhartha Buddha. Through the works of Buddha, he was able to discover a way to put an end to the painful cycle of rebirth, death , and reincarnation. He learned that through extreme meditation and resentment from pleasures, you will be able to end your cycle of suffering by attaining Nirvana(enlightenment) But, in Christianity, it revolves around the teachings and miracles of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the anointed son of God who came down from heaven to redeem us of our sins. It was through his miraculous works that allowed us to be saved and have salvation in heaven with our heavenly father. In order to get to this spiritual kingdom, Christians believe that by following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will one day be righteously granted with the gift to live out the rest of our lives in eternal paradise with God himself. Nevertheless, although there is a considerable amount of difference between these religions, there are still numerous similarities. With the assistance of Smart s Seven Dimensions of Religion, these similarities and difference can be vividly explained. • 34. Persuasive Essay On Anti Bullying Anti Bullying Bullying has become a very hot topic in schools and on social media. There is a chant kids say sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me. This is totally false. In truth, words can kill. Bullying is a fact of modern society; it can cause psychological effects and in most cases result in self harm. I believe preventative measures to reduce bullying in schools and social media should be taken. About twenty eight percent of student s ages 12 18 reported being bullied at school during the school year according to the Indicators of School Crime and Safety report, by the Bureau of Justice statistics. Across thirty nine states survey, 7.2 percent of students admit to not attending school because they do not feel safe. The importance of bullying can t be undermined. Teachers and parents must understand the importance of looking and listening for signs and behaviors of bullying. This will help tackle the issue before it gets serious and someone gets hurt. To successfully prevent bullying you must be able to spot it. Parents and teachers need to watch for instances of bullying. A person who is isolating themselves from a group doesn t necessarily categorize a person as a loner. That could be a sign that they are being bullied. Just by noticing those warning signs and intervening can help the situation and possibly allow the person being bullied to find comfort in confining you. What is a bully? A bully is a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. There are many types of bullying. There is verbal bullying when someone is saying or writing mean things. Verbal bullying includes teasing, name calling, inappropriate sexual comments, and threatening to cause self harm. Another form of bullying is social bullying. It involves hurting someone s reputation or relationship. Social bullying includes spreading rumors about someone, telling other children not to be friends with someone, and embarrassing someone in public. Then there is physical bullying which involves hurting a person s body or possessions. Which includes hitting or kicking, tripping, taking or breaking someone s things. Bullying can occur during or after school hours. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mongols ravaged the country side creating a scarcity of food and sending peasants flooding into the cities. The emperor had agreed to hand over a large amount of luxuries, but instead had his political court flee from Zhongdu, now Beijing, to the city of Kaifeng. Genghis Kahn took this as a break in their agreement and sacked Zhongdu to the ground. • 38. Essay on Class Conflict in the Great Gatsby The main, reoccurring theme in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, is the theme of society and class. Three separate social classes are portrayed in the novel: old money, new money, and the lowest class known as no money. The old money class refers to those who come from families that have fortunes. New money families are those who made their money in the Roaring Twenties and often lavishly display their wealth. In the novel, the growing tension between the old and the new money classes are shown through Gatsby and Tom s struggle over Daisy. The novel s narrator, Nick Carraway, begins the novel by sharing advice his father gave him when he was younger: do not criticize others because all the people in this world ... A breeze stirred the gray haze of Daisy s fur collar. At least they re more interesting than the people we know, she said with an effort. (6.98 105) By juxtaposing Gatsby and Daisy, Fitzgerald distinctly reveals the idiocy of the new money class. Daisy comes from an environment with true values and stiff behavior, and when placed in West Egg she finds herself unable to live with such negligence. The theme of this novel, the hollowness of the upper class, is similarly portrayed at the very end of the novel after the death of Gatsby. • 40. Financial Implications Of Gate Keeping Financial implications of gate keeping Gatekeeping is about the decisions made by journalists or media companies through policy; therefore, we must look at what influences those decisions. Gatekeeping as an idea has a number of factors that influence what information is presented and why (Soroka, 2012). Since finances is a key part of any business and there are still those who attempt to limit the audience s access to information online, and they do so for financial reasons (Taneja, 2013). The editors of small community media are more concerned about revenue than those at larger publications (Donhue, Olien, Tichenor). There is an argument that can be made that gate keeping decisions have traditionally been based on financial considerations (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980; Soroka, 2012). Research has shown, at least some community media outlets, that editors make decisions about what to publish based upon some influence from the expectations their advertisers and fear of alienating the community and therefore the publication s subscribers (Tichenor, Donohue, Olien, Clarke, 1980). This is because community media cannot exist without advertisers (Kennedy, 1974); therefore, it would be counterintuitive to anger and alienate users. This leads to a situation where it can easily be conceived that the same economic factors would impact gatekeeping decisions on the web. The importance of community The term community is elastic and can mean many things ranging from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
