The Mission Of The Rocket Mission
The Rocket Mission The year was 2515. I walked into a nearby old antec shop where they sold
mini Empire State Buildings, Pyramids, and Eiffel Towers. I went in there to collect a mini
Eiffel Tower that the shop brought in, it had been a tradition that one person in my family
would buy an Eiffel tower each year as a remembrance of my family s story of the Tower, and
this year was my year. After I had walked into the shop and was greeted by a funky scent. It
smelled like a mixture of dirty old man and dust. It didn t take me long before I figured out what
the smell was, a small, wrinkly, old man walked up to me, greeting me with what looked like a
bowl filled with dusty candy that must of been there for 20 years. Trying to be polite I took a
candy and shoved it into my pocket knowing that I would never eat it anyway. The old man must
of recognized me because before I had said anything, he slowly hobled to the back of the shop
and came back with something in the basket on his walker. You must be a member of the
Ferguson family, the old man had said in a raspy quiet voice. In reply I said, Yes I am, how did you
know?
You have the facial features of the others that have came in here.
Wow you have a good memory for an old man.
Who said being old causes memory loss.
In amazement I asked, What s in your basket? Not evening replying to the question he handed me, a
mini, one foot tall, metal Eiffel Towerthat had a thick layer of dust on it, I picked it up and wiped

Free 2050 Essay
New Zealand released on Friday Predator Free 2050, a research strategy designed to eradicate rats
and other invasive species in the country. Under the ambitious plan, Wellington plans to save New
Zealand s bird by tapping CRISPR gene editing to eradicate rats, possums, and stoats. Under the
strategy, all these species must die, down to the last mouse, The Atlantic reported. Predator Free
2050 started as a grassroots movement, but it picked up following huge public support and the
backing of the government. Spreading genes through wild population The research strategy
involves the use of CRISPR, the editing technique that scientists use to edit genes with ease and

In the paper, Russell pointed out that in 2013, plant, vertebrate, and invertebrate pests destroyed
NZ$1.44 billion ($977 million) in agriculture output losses annually. The idea became a
movement, followed by government support. A limited company to administer an initial $28
million worth of funds was set up. Ecological xenophobia However, the plan was criticized by
some people who said it is ecological xenophobia. To defend the plan, Russell pointed out that
something is going to die anyway. Given two choices, he said he would rather that the rat would
be killed humanely than for the rat to kill inhumanely the bird. Russell noted the economic
impact of a predator free country. He cited Tiritiri Matangi, an island in the Hauraki Gulf, which
welcomes about 14,000 foreign and 23,000 domestic tourists yearly. It was triple the number of
visitors in the past after it became predator free in 1993. Tiritiri Matangi is one of the 100 small
islands in New Zealand that has successfully eradicated mammals through the efforts of
conservationists. However, the 100 islands represent only 10 percent of the country s offshore and
0.2 percent of the mainland. Ways to eradicate rats During the pre CRISPR days, other manual
methods were used by conservationists to eradicate the mammals that kill New Zealand s birds.
Don Merton, a legendary conservationist, poisoned the rats by hand in 1963. The Department of

Essay about Internet Pornography Censorship vs Free Speech
The Internet is a worldwide network of computers and databases that has evolved rapidly in recent
years. Tremendous amounts of information are transmitted and are fairly easy to obtain. Although
in the past the information available was for the most part educational and business oriented, in
recent years it has become much more diverse and questions have been raised as to the
appropriateness of the content being viewed and consumed. Another issue is whether or not the
government should take an active role in censoring it, especially when it comes to pornography, or
cyberporn, as it is more commonly referred to when it is displayed on the Internet.
Should cyberporn be censored? If so, who is responsible, parents or the government? ... Show more

The Supreme Court views obscenity as completely outside the scope of the first amendment s
protection, and the Government may regulate speech freely as long as the Miller test is fulfilled
(Simon 2).
Although many may consider pornography to be obscene, by this definition, there seems to be
some ambiguity. Pornography is defined as: Writings, pictures, etc., intended primarily to arouse
sexual desire.
Another question that needs to be asked is, does censorship of cyberporn violate the first
amendment of the constitution? The first amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances (Bill of Rights) The Supreme Court has consistently ruled
that pornography and obscenity fall outside the first amendment. The Internet is akin to commercial
network television, and government can constitutionally restrict T.V., so why not the Internet?
Probably because adult conduct that includes sexually oriented conduct that has been considered by
many to be immoral, has been protected by the First Amendment when it takes place in a private
setting (Ford, Marrin, and Esposito 1).

The Stanbic Bank And The Digital Capability Maturity Model

Within Stanbic Bank the current SISP process is based on the premise that IT/IS acts purely as an
enabling function to the business. In order to implement an SISP that transitions the organization to
a fully fledged digital bank ,on the digital Capability Maturity Model, we will need a dramatic
change in mindset and approach towards SISP implementation driven by a digitally focused

Kunio Maekawa is an architect who designed and built his own house, The Maekawa House, in
1941(Reynolds, 2001). Since the war was going on, he was only able to construct his home with
limited materials (Reynolds, 2001). Nevertheless, he was still able to incorporate the traditional
Japanese architecture with influences of the western style. The Maekawa House is considered to
be modern because of the introduction it had of a different type of design in Japan (Reynolds,
2001). Maekawa obtained the traditional wood construction and spacious garden; he added the
living/dining room in the center of the house. The bedroom was in the back corner of the house

He was drawn by the English Arts and Crafts Movement and chose to write about John Ruskin s
essay, Seven Lamps of Architecture. Maekawa was intrigued by how Ruskin defined the
architectural detail of architects work. This made him more interested to find out what
architecture was (Maekawa, 1984). He visited projects around Tokyo, and even got the chance to
see Frank Lloyd Wright s Imperial Hotel but was disappointed by the lack of information
(Maekawa, 1984). He read an architectural journal, Architectural Forum, and was not fascinated
because there was no information of the design or the aesthetics. It seems magazines in the 1920 s
were somewhat conservative (Maekawa, 1984).
Maekawa entered Tokyo Imperial University in 1925 to pursue his architecture education and it
was there when he was able to be exposed to the European trends (Maekawa, 1984). He learned
about the Western and Japanese architectural history and took field trips to shrines and temples
(Maekawa, 1984). He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in 1928 (Maekawa, 1984). He was
then eluded by Europe s modernism where he later pursued his belief of modernism in Paris by
working under, the well known architect, LeCorbusier (Maekawa, 1984).
The first exposure that Maekawa had of LeCorbusier was when he read a report of LeCorbusier s
Ville Contemporain (Maekawa, 1984)e. Due to the recession in Japan in 1927, Maekawa needed
to look elsewhere to obtain a job,

The Hiding Place Corrie Ten Boom Quotes
The book, The Hiding Place, is a biography on Corrie Ten Boom and her family s struggles
during the Holocaust. The book takes place before World War I through World War II. Corrie
and her family lived in the Netherlands in the time of the Holocaust where they owned a build
and repair shop for watches. She had two sisters named Betsie and Nollie, and one brother
named Willem. Her father did most of the work with the watch shop, and her mother died when
she was a little girl. In 1940 when the Nazis started invading the Netherlands, they would often
find people praying in their shop because they were scared. The Ten Boom family begins taking in
Jews and giving them a place to hide from the invading Nazis. Later on, the family was caught and

This book had a lot to do with religion because people were scared and looked to God for
answers. A quote that I believe goes with this is one from Corrie where she says , Lord Jesus,
You were called to a hearing, too. Show me what to do. (Page 118 of Chapter 11) This reiterates
that she was looking to God on what she should do. A theme that branches off of religion was
faith. Faith played a very important role throughout the book, from normal practices of faith in
the beginning of the book to Corrie using faith to keep strong in the labor camps. One quote that
I feel describes this is, But if God has shown us bad times ahead it s enough for that he knows
about them. That s why he sometimes shows us things you know, to tell us that this too is in his
hands, (page 50 of Chapter 5) This quote shows that Corrie has faith in God that he has it all
under control. All in all, I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It showed me a lot of different side of
the Holocaust that I previously did not know. I think the best way to prevent terrible events from
history from happening again is to learn more about them, and I believe this book does a great job
in teaching the hardships and truths about what happened during the

spiritual. Being the final sign Pisces is the most highly evolved, and is highly orientated towards

Pisces Personality Overview
Pisces, you are notoriously difficult to define, and your personality cannot be pinned down. You
do after all have a tendency to become your environment, and you absorb the emotions of those
around you like a sponge. The border of your self, the world, the spirit world, and the world of
others, is highly blurred, and you feel and sometimes perceive the underlying fabric that connects
all of life. You are, Pisces, an extremely spiritually evolved sign,... Show more content on

Adam and Eve
The term subordination is used frequently in the context of Trinitarian discussion, and has a
clearly defined usage. Theologians of the past have spoken in some sense of the subordination of
the Son and the Spirit within the boundaries of orthodoxy. However, how do we define it when it
comes to women and the church? The story of Adam and Eve is a great place to start. It brings with
it all of the elements of love, respect, partnership, and subordination all rolled together. When I first
started to research this paper I was under the misguided assumption that Adam and Eve went down
together. As my paper evolved you will see I learned a little bit differently.... Show more content on

Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches.
While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the
huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical
scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about
the viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in
the women s lives.
Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in
a rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover
evidence for the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal
place for women (Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a
historical subject which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while
Churches are still debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which
laywomen can participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away
from this.
One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a
neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus
are shaped by their presuppositions. Ecclesiastical historians, influenced by their

Sonnet 130 Analysis Essay
The explication of Sonnet 130 When you think of a sonnet from Shakespeare s time, you think of
a lovey, mushy poem about how the love the writer has for one. Sonnet 130, written by William
Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was
written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets.
Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. He idolized
and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her
perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. While these metaphors had already become a
clichГ©, they were still the accepted technique for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also the possibility that she is of a darker race. In line four, he compares her hair to
black wires, which is not as flattering. Black is also not a color found in nature, but the absence
of light. Which also signifies sadness, darkness, and evil. In the past, men set a high value on
women s hair; it was a sign of femininity and beauty. Moving to the second quatrain which states,
I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some
perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader
starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines
five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were
already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses
are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight.
The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress
breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but
can be a pleasant smell in nature too. The last quatrain states, I love to hear her speak, yet well I
know/ that music hath a far more pleasing sound;/ I grant I never saw a goddess go;/ My mistress

Adultery Corrupts Society Essay
People use many descriptive words or phrases in an attempt to avoid the term adultery;
unfaithfulness, infidelity, playing the field, extramarital relations, and having an affair are just a
few. Regardless of how the act is labeled, the net result ends in the destruction of reputation, trust,
and respect. Ancient cultures understood adultery to be dangerous, even the writers of the Bible
granted the act its own Thou Shalt Not. Many societies, including the U.S., have outlawed
adultery; in some cultures the penalty for this crime is death by stoning. That being said how is it

What Are The Five Traditional Senses
Internet Activity #6 The five traditional senses have been around since the time of Aristotle. Each
sensory organ is made up of cells that have receptors for stimuli. In this way, the cells are linked to
the nervous system and the brain. The senses are very primitive functions of the cells. Humans
most developed sense is sight. The eyeis the sensory organ for sight. Visual input from the eyes is
mapped by the back of the brain, and it is combined into one image, combining the image from
both eyes into one. The brain flips images to look right side up because the focusing action of the
lense causes images to appear upside down to the retina. Light is focused on the retina through a

Before conducting the experiment, one of the group members attempted to calculate the theoretical
values for the optimum angle at the different launch heights. These calculations were then
discovered to be incorrect after conducting the experiment. This resulted in the incorrect sample
range of the launch angles, creating data that that only showcased a small part of an overall trend.
This resulted in accurate data and the quadratic equations expressing the data, thus misrepresenting
the trends.

Light gate placement
A light gate was placed in front of the barrel of the projectile launcher at a distance of about 5cm.
This resulted in the recorded flight time being less than the true flight time value. The distance the
light gate was placed in front of the barrel of the launcher was kept constant for all repetitions and
samples. This would have resulted in inaccurate data. This systematic error could be reduced with
closer placement of the light gate to the opening of the barrel, allowing the instrument to record
more accurate results.
2.Errors in vertical displacement
Since the projectile launcher was raised above a table top, school trays were used to raise the
landing area and fulfil the requirements of uni level projectile motion. The height of the launcher
was measured using a plastic ruler and then school trays were stacked on top of each other to try
and make it uni level. There may have been small differences in the height of the launch site and
landing site, thus not resulting in true uni level projection. To reduce the effect of this error in the
future, a block metal should be made to exactly the correct height of the launcher, ensuing that true

Prophet Muhammad Research Paper
Muhammad was known as the prophet of Allah. With modest beginnings, he ended up starting the
Islamic religion and building an empire in Arabia. Through his life, he taught important things, and
his legacy forever has an impression on the world.
Muhammad was born in Makkah, with his father already dead. Following customs, his mother
sent him away to live with nomads for a few years. Sadly, his mother died soon after he came
home, making him an orphan. His uncle took him in, and after accompanying his uncle on trading
trips, he became a trader. Later, he began managing caravans for a widow named Khadijah, and
eventually she requested for a marriage and he accepted.

Some of his followers were tortured, but the Muslims didn t give up. As the number of Muslims
grew, the Makkans started to boycott, and refused to do any business with the Hashim clan,
Muhammad s clan. This took a toll on many people in Muhammad s clan, resulThe year
Muhammad s family died, he went on the Night Journey. This was a winged horse taking him to
Jerusalem.
Muhammad went to Madinah, because he was getting protection there. Over here, he made a
Muslim community, and had everyone respect Christians and Jews. Like Muslims, they were
known as People of the Book. The Makkans and Muslims fought many battles against each other.
After everything settled down, Muhammad led his final pilgrimage, and in Makkah, he delivered
the Last Sermon, and died soon after.
After Muhammad s death, Arabia was succeeded by 4 rightly guided people, also known as the 4
caliphs. Over the course of 100 years, the 4 caliphs expanded the empire, and spread Islam from
Spain to India. There were sometimes disagreements, and the Muslims and the Umayyads started a
civil war when Ali became 4th caliph. After Ali was murdered, the leader of Umayyad clan claimed
the caliphate and started a dynasty, which eventually lead to a split between the Sunnis and the Shi

Constitution. New federal laws have buckled down on immigration, however this does not affect
sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities do not have to follow the exaggerated immigration laws, due to
the tenth amendment. The tenth amendment separates federal and state powers, meaning that the
states have jurisdiction in sanctuary cities. Referencing the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the
Amendment prevents the federal government from coercing state or local governments to use their
resources to enforce a federal regulatory program ... Similarly to how the tenth amendment protects
sanctuary cities from federal law, it also protects them from the federal government attempting to
force sanctuary cities to provide information. For this reason, sanctuary cities keep a don t ask, don

The Immigrant Legal Resource Center assures that, Congress cannot compel state or local
governments to collect immigration status information in order to share it with the federal
government. The don t ask, don t tell policy refers to the sanctuary cities version of not collecting
data. Without collecting data, these cities are never in violation of federal law. There is very
limited record keeping done in these cities, which works in tandem with the don t ask, don t tell
policy. Therefore, the tenth amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects sanctuary cities from the
federal government in enforcing federal law, forcing private information from the cities, and
protecting the citizens of these cities with a don t ask, don t tell

Summary Of William Kent Krueger s Ordinary Grace
Our faith journey is something that we have to work at our entire lives. Through different events
in our lives, the stage we are at in our journey can be affected. For some people, a trial in their life
might strengthen their faith, while other people may be discouraged in their faith. Through
different events in the book Ordinary Grace, William Kent Krueger demonstrates how tough trials
can strengthen or destruct one s faith through God s awful grace. Everyone s faith is tested
throughout the book, but one person who really stuck out to me was Nathan s unwavering faith.
While reading this book, there are countless times when the author will make you think, Why is
he not freaking out right now? He has the ability to remain faithful to God, and not be too quick to
assume. In our lives, we tend to find ourselves always assuming things and it tends to get us into
trouble. One example that impacted me was at the end of the book when Frank thinks that he has
solved the mystery to Arial s death. Frank is positive he knows who killed his sister and he thought
that his dad would feel the same way. However, when he tells Nathan he responds, Frank, it never
pays to convict someone in advance of knowing all the facts (281). If this were me in this situation
I would have been quick to assume and slow to forgive. However, Nathan is not your everyday guy.
He still has faith in mankind even after the horrible death to his daughter. Nathan doesn t jump to

Are video games linked to acts of crime and violence? Video games software and hardware are
among one of the most used consumed electronic devices. My father would tell me how he and his
friends used to play arcade games such as Pac Man, Space Invaders, and Galaxian in his hometown
in Guatemala. I remember I would watch him playing Super Mario 64 on our Nintendo 64 when I
was a toddler. Several of my peers grew up playing video games on Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft
consoles. Millions of consoles have been sold and millions of people have played at least of video
game. It has become one of those common household electronics such as televisions, cell phones,
and computers. However, video games have never had complete approval from every person is
society. There are individuals who view video games as a nuisance, a distraction, a waste of time

violent and tragic events. Video games with mature themes (such as violence, blood, gore, drugs,
innuendo, etc.) have been blamed for making the perpetrators of crimes commit acts of violence.
While I can see how video games can viewed as influencing violence at first sight, my issue with
blaming video games is the lack of support for their argument. This raises the question, Are video

Last Child In The Woods By Richard Lou
Despite being an environmental studies major, I would be lying if I said that the environment and
nature has always had a huge role in my life. The only reason I became interested in the
environment was when I found out about environmental justice and environmental racism. In other
words, because of people. Before I made that connection sometime in high school, I, like many
others, never viewed nature as something that should be, rather something that just was.
Appreciating nature was a subjective value that I had no particular interests in. Because of this,
although I am now what I consider a fully committed and passionate environmentalist, Last Child in

Sales Comparison Approach
This approach is the most common method of property valuation. It estimates the value of a

approach is applicable to all types of real property only if there are recent, adequate and reliable

An Examination of Cardiovascular Disease
Heart Disease:
An Examination
Heart or cardiovascular disease is an umbrella term utilized for various diseases that can affect one
s heart. As with any disease, there are certain factors that can exacerbate the onset and continuation
of this disease. For this reason, the paper below will analyze heart disease in detail and describe the
specific population that is prone to being affected by this disease, as well as what this population
can do to help alleviate the harmful effects of heart disease. In order to understand heart disease,
one must understand that there are many diseases that relate to this broad term. According to the
Mayo Clinic,
Heart disease is a broad term used to describe a range of diseases that affect your heart. The various

I Am My Love For Reading
Today I am redeveloping my love for reading thanks to my little siblings, Alex and Faith. If it

was something I did every day without even thinking about it. However, due to negative

delighted to be redeveloping my love for reading because I forgot just how relaxing it was and
how digging into a good book can make you feel as if you are one of the characters in the story. I
think my love of reading as a child developed because my mom read to me. It was something I
did every night. However, once Scholastic Reader tests started my love of reading changed into
resentment for reading, as I was never able to read what I wanted. As soon as my book options
were taken from me and I was forced to only read books I could take tests on I just stopped
reading. This is a trend that happened all throughout middle school because I was required to take
Scholastic tests every single year through eighth grade. Then once high schoolcame along I was still
so angry and had such animosity towards reading I never got back into it. My early experiences
really impacted the reader I have become. Due to the fact I stopped reading I went from a strong
reader to a not as strong reader. Also, not being a reader has impacted the literate person I am.

the majority of the workforce. Despite the varied numbers of female workers, both Coleman and
Tsurumi presented information that females were mainly employed in textile factories. On the
other hand, Harriet Hanson Robinson provided a closer perspective in a former female factory
worker s experience. Robinson, the female factory worker, wrote about how females in the
cotton factory had to endure abusive working conditions and the reduced wages in Lowell.
Robinson held a specific opinion upon the working conditions as the greatest hardship in the lives

result, Robison may have endured much of the hardships and cruel treatment in the factories at a

delight.112 The servants will enjoy the presence of God.
Second, God promises to make the faithful ride on the heights of the land.113 The precise
meaning of the heights of the land is highly ambiguous. Knight claims that these heights are
where God places his feet, so from there one in his turn will be able to view the world below lying
in the hands of God (cf. Matt 4:8). 114 On the contrary, Achtemeier argues that in sheer
exultation, they will be exalted and will rejoice in the abundant and secure life Yahweh gives: such
is the meaning of v 14b (cf. Deut 32:13; 33:29; Isa 33:16; Am 4:13; Mic 1:3; Hab 3:18 19). 115
The latter view seems to be more persuasive because of its similar expression in Deut 32:13 and the
LXX rendering ta. avgaqa. th/ j gh/ j (the good places of the land).116

the abundant and secure life in the land promised to Jacob. The inheritance promised to the
servants seems to follow the thematic pattern similar to that of 57:13b. As the prophet promises

Equifax used a software tool known as Apache Struts that supported Equifax s online dispute portal

anything about why they waited until September 7th before announcing the cyber incident. Could it
be that the hacking was too embarrassing for a proud company to announce, or was there another
reason? Some financial institutions were totally unaware that the loan applications they were

The Factors that Brought Apartheid to an End in 1994 Essay
The Factors that Brought Apartheid to an End in 1994
The two key factors that brought apartheid to an end were political and economic pressures that
developed over the 50 years of Apartheid.
One clear attempt at changing the political scene was the adoption of the Freedom Charter
composed in 1955, was a way of displaying what individuals such as Mandela and Sisulu wanted
and fought for. Mandela considered it as ...it captured the hopes and dreams of the people and acted
as a blueprint for the liberation struggle and future of the nation .
Whites feared some of the conditions of the freedom charter.

The consequence of this was 69 deaths and 180 people wounded, mostly by shots in the back.
This event had been displayed all over the world and internationally the opinion on apartheid was
that it must come to a definite end. Questions by white businessmen were raised as to whether
there was to be future peace or a considerable financial crisis in South Africa.
Demonstrations continued by Kgosana, a local PAC leader, he led 30,000 marchers into the
center of the city and to Houses of Parliament to protest. The local police had never come across
such a large event, so the police and Kgosana came to an agreement, if Kgosana could have the
protesters returned home in peace, a meeting that he desired with the Minister of Justice may be
arranged. This agreement went through and as a result the government resorted to Total
Repression. The ANC and PAC became outlawed and riots and demonstrations came to an end.
At this point Mandela believed that it was time to turn to violence. He went underground and
formed MK, and planned a campaign of sabotage. The aims were to avoid loss of life . Mandela
endured an underground life for 17months during this time he trained as a guerilla fighter in
Ethiopia. He became well known for his achievement in avoiding the police. Eventually in 1962 he
was caught and charged

Devil Facial Disease
Tasmanian Devil facial cancer disease (DFCD) is a unique contagious cancer, which is transmitted
among Devil populations by biting, causing the cancer to present itself in tumours around the oral
cavity. The cancer cells have previously been found to be a rogue clonal cell line from a single
Devil.
Aims
The aim of the two research papers was to investigate telomere length in Tasmanian Devils, the
Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD), and in closely related marsupials. One of the articles focused
on the striking dimorphism between the homologous chromosomes of the Devils, and proposed
possible explanations for this, while the other article focused more closely on the telomere length
and maintenance in the cancer cells, analysing the expression ... Show more content on

This was completed with over 65 tissue samples from various locations. The analysis was performed
with quantitative PCR, using fluorescent signals.
Terminal restriction fragment analysis of the Devil telomeres was used to reveal that non repeat
sequences are present between the telomeric repeats in the telomeres of the Devils (Bender et al.,
2012). This technique involved the digestion of the DNA with certain restriction enzymes, and the
product was then run on an electrophoresis gel.
Semi quantitative RT PCR was used in both articles to examine the expression of the catalytic
subunit of telomerase in various cells from the Devil in order to detect the presence and activity of
telomerase. Additionally a non quantitative telomere repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) was
used to detect telomerase activity, this involved the use of PCR and gel electrophoresis in order to
visualise the results.

Rhetorical Analysis Of What Boys Want By David Wiseman
Assignment 3 In her TIME magazine article What Boys Want, Rosalind Wiseman explains that
although boys and girls go through a lot of similar problems, girls seem to get more support
while boys are taught to suppress their feelings. Wisemans article uses many rhetorical
strategies. Rhetorical strategies are modes of persuasion used to influence a reader. Rhetorical
strategies can produce an ethical, logical, or emotional appeal. An ethical appeal is generated
when appealing to a person s sense of right and wrong while appearing to be objective. A logical
appeal is created when an argument is backed up with evidence from reliable sources such as
scientific papers, autobiographies and real life experiences. An emotional appeal is achieved by...

She explains that: ... teen boys face many of the same challenges and are longing for many of
the same things as girls: they fall in love easily, get their hearts broken and have very mixed
feelings about the hypersexualized culture in which they live; they hunger to be more open about
their feelings, both with their families and with their male friends, though they exist in a culture
that discourages such emotional openness and they desperately want to maintain their social
position among their guy friends regardless of the cost to them or others. (42) Because boys are
taught to suppress their feelings many boys thus suffer from low self esteem (43). Wiseman uses
anecdotes and illustrations of boys dealing with real life relationships and emotions to support her
claim. She also provides statistics such as boys falling behind girls in regards to high school GPA
and college enrollment which she claims is a result of boys having low self esteem (43). Lastly, she
provides a solution by suggestion that parents should make a concerted effort to communicate more
often with their sons about their emotional well being

Stress And Its Effect On Our Lives
Sinister Stress
Everyone has stress, but not everyone realizes the impact it has on their lives. Most people don t
realize or understand the amount of stress they are under. What used to be considered extreme
levels of stress has become normal in today s society. Most people, adults especially, don t realize
that teens largely experience these high levels of stress. Before talking about the stress that teens
experience, though, it is best to understand what stress is and why one has it. Stress is a natural
response and reaction the body experiences to things that occur in life, both to and around a person.
Humans have had stress since their first creation. It is a survival instinct, enabling our flight or fight

It is a constant pressure that sits on a teen s shoulders. Adults are constantly pushing students to
work harder, get better grades, get to class on time, and have all their work finished and done
correctly (Gregson par. 3). What s so hard about that? one might think. Well, what most people
don t realize it that it is harder than it sounds. Many teens are involved in extracurricular
activities, like clubs, sports, and jobs as well. There is only so much in a day and so many
things that they have to do within that limited amount of time. Teens are at school most of the
day, then many of them either have to go to some sort of practice, meeting, job, or do chores at
home. Usually by the time they are free to do their homework it is late. Not to mention the
sizable amounts of homework that is dolled out to them. Sometimes they are given large
amounts of work in just one class, along with the work they may receive in the many other
classes they are enrolled in. Fear is also another stressor teens experience much of. Teens have
the constant fear of not being enough, not doing enough, and most of all failure in life (Lee 4
5). Fear somewhat relates to the stress teens experience because of school fear of a bad grade,
fear of not getting their homework done on time, fear of being late to class, or even fear of not
being able to understand what is being taught. While school and fear are obvious sources of stress

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Earth s Environment
Green Practice Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average
temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently
changing the Earth s climate (Goguen). Day to day, fossil fuels are being burned; humans are
deforesting land, driving cars, creating and demolishing buildings, and much more; these activities
result in the release of greenhouse gases (Goguen). Architects are now being awakened by global
warming issues and are planning ideas to alter their designs to reduce carbon emissions for future
buildings. Correspondingly, colleges are beginning to prepare architecture students on how to

Furthermore, architects can incorporate off site renewable energy into their work, like wind
energy to avoid the use of fossil fuel energy. Most of California s latest buildings have already
incorporated the carbon neutral strategy, and it has now been made a standard for all innovative
projects (Challenge). The 2030 Challenge has encouraged many companies to start designing eco
friendly and with the more attention the issue gets, the more successful the world will be in
reversing global warming. Enlightening the architecture field on how buildings are polluting the
world is the first step to solving global warming matters. Change is often times a difficult task and
most people are not willing to alter their habits. Although without the change of design to green
practices, architects will just keep hurting the world and its climate. Because architects have been
designing for many years, it will be hard for the experts to convert their work into zero carbon
designs (Budds). Each firm should inform their architecture team about the 2030 Challenge and
plan to start acting now. The next step should be eliminating previous building designs and
converting the carbon neutral designs to a standard (Mazria). There is now an online tool created
for architects to give them the best information and illustrate new ideas for their designs so the
transition is not as problematic, it is called the 2030 Palette

Raphael Semmes
Confederate rear admiral Raphael Semmes left an everlasting endowment as captain of the CSS
Alabama. Raphael Semmes faced many challenges as a boy and a man. Through all of his
challenges he remained calm and collective and pushed through. Although his life was threatened
many times during his time serving in the military from either being shot at or being drowned to
death after sinking a ship, he always fought no matter what the circumstances were.
Raphael Semmes was born in Charles County, Maryland on September 27, 1809. At the age of
fourteen he and his three siblings lost their mother, Catherine Semmes and father, Richard Semmes.

His ship was hit, causing it to sink. 39 members of the crew lost their lives, Semmes hardly
escaped with his. The court found no wrong with the way he handled the ship but in fact praised
him for it then sent him back to duty. After the war Semmes moved to Mobile Alabama where he
practiced law and wrote Service Afloat and Ashore During the Mexican War, a book about his
war experiences. In 1855 he was promoted to the Commander of the U.S. Navy. When Alabama
seceded from the Union, Semmes was sent north by President Jefferson Davis on a secret mission
to get military supplies for the Confederacy from the munitions brokers there. (Encyclopedia of
Alabama) After Semmes sunk his ship he was upset that almost all his men died except him this is
a challenge that Semmes pushed through and got back on his feet and resumed his duty back in the
navy after he went to court and they proved it wasn t his fault.
In 1861 Semmes resigned his commission in the U.S. Navy to work for the Confederate
government in Montgomery. The confederate Navy sent him north to buy ships and military
supplies and to find skilled mechanics to bring back. Semmes was then given command of the ship
Habana which was a steamship turned into a military destroyer ship (renamed C.S.S. Sumter). He
ran the Sumter through the Federal blockade on the Mississippi river, out sailing the U.S.S.

Definition Essay On Good Character
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, character is defined as, one of the attribute or
features that make up and distinguish an individual or a feature used to separate distinguishable
things into categories. With these two definitions it becomes easy to apply them to human context.
In the first definition it defines characteras something that distinguishes an individual. Many things
can distinguish you from someone else, this can include but not be limited to, work ethic, grades,
respect, responsibility, and honesty. All these things are also life skills, things that will help you in
the future. And you can learn them at any time. In this report i will discus what good character is,

Good character means showing up on time, giving an effort, and so much more. It is the
pinnacle of being successful. And keeping up with the world. Good character is that one thing
that sets you apart from your opponent., that separates the good guys and the bad guys. Many
people will entirely disregard you when no good character is shown, doors will close,
opportunities will be wasted, and rejections will be made. But if the opposite is applied the
opposite will happen. Doors will open, opportunities will be made, and people will respect you.
All this can happen, but it is up to you what will happen. Will you have people respect you, will
you create opportunities, or will you have people ignore you, and reject you. This may sound like
an easy decision to make, but for many people who don t have the drive to put forth the effort it

My Father Was A Surveyor For The Us Army Corp Of Engineers
My father was a surveyor for the US Army Corp of Engineers, so we traveled quite a bit before
we moved to Arizona when I was ten. I remained in Arizona through college, where I pursued my
degree in engineering. While I was in my third year I realized I did not want to be an engineer,
but I did want to finish and earn my degree. After college I decided I wanted to pursue a career in
law enforcement, so I moved to California and became an Orange County Deputy Sheriff. I did
this for almost 15 years and this is also where I met my wife, Diane, of over 23 years. Diane also
moved to California, from Minnesota, for her job as a flight attendant. At the time she worked for
Northwest Airlines, but that later merged with Delta Airlines. After being married for a few years
we had our first of two children. Our son who is about to start his third year in college and our
daughter who is about to start her first.
Neither Diane, nor I, have family in California and we thought it was important to be near family,
so our plan had always been to move to Minnesota before our children started elementary school.
Since I traveled so much at an early age I thought it was important to move before our children
started elementary school. My wife is part of a large family and my parents were the only ones still
in Arizona, so Minnesota seemed like the logical place for us to select. I loved being a police

Monasticism And Intellectual L Essay example
Religious and intellectual institutions underwent significant changes throughout the middle ages.
In some cases, advances were made, and in others, there was a major decline. Through all of these
times, the people of the middle ages learned what didn t work, what did, and how to progress once
they found what did work.
The true form of monasticism in the western Christian church was founded by Saint Benedict of
Nursia. He wrote the famous quot;Benedict s Rule quot; between 520 530. The fundamentals of
the rule was that each day was divided into a series of activities with an emphasis on prayer and
manual labor. The monks would all gather together seven times each day for prayer. These were all

These were schools attached to cathedrals where religious and secular men could be trained. By the
thirteenth century, there were different religious orders among the monasteries. Two main orders
were the Franciscans and the Dominicans. The Franciscan order was founded by Saint Francis. They
took vows of poverty and lived among the poor. They preached repentance and aided the poor.
This order was attractive to many people who were disgusted with the opulent lifestyles many
other religious societies lived. The Dominicans were founded by Saint Dominic. This order was
made up of mendicant, or begging friars. These were learned men who wanted to protect the
teachings of the church from heresy. The Dominicans established schools and also had a
representative government for themselves. These were both all male orders, but new
establishments for women, called Beguines, were also developed in the thirteenth century. These
were poor women who were devout Christians and dedicated to prayer. They lived together and
supported themselves by begging and working menial jobs. They took no religious vows,
however, and were free to leave as they pleased. They were accepted by the church until the
fourteenth century. A religious order that was not accepted by the church were the Waldensians.
This order was founded by Peter Waldo in southern France. Waldo was very similar to Saint
Francis in his beliefs. He preached the

Friedrich Schleiermacher s Views On Religion And Religion...
Known as the Father of Modern Liberal Theology, Friedrich Schleiermacher was a German
philosopher and theologian who directed his attention on the nature of religious experience from
the viewpoint of the individual and human nature itself (MariГ±a 3). Highly influenced by German
Romanticism, Schleiermacher attempted to settle the criticisms of the Enlightenment with
conventional Protestant Christianity (Crouter 261). By doing so, he abandoned the Moravian
theology that had neglected to gratify his growing reservations and he embraced the sensible
outlook of Christian Wolff and Johann Salomo Semler. He then became accustomed to the methods
of historical criticism of the New Testament and of Johann Augustus Eberhard, from whom he
attained an adoration of the philosophy of Plato and Aristotle. Consequently, he began reforming
Immanuel Kant s structure by implementing thoughts from the Greek thinkers (MariГ±a 3). On this
basis, this essay will clearly articulate Friedrich Schleiermacher s conception of religionand religion
s association with Christianity as expressed in Speech I: Defense and Speech II: The Nature of
Religion of his work, On Religion: Speeches to Its Cultured Despisers. The essay will explore
Schleiermacher s refutation of three notions of religion possessed by the despisers, clarify his
recognition of the true religion with sensation as well as express his understanding of the
association involving religion and Christianity.

  • 2. The Mission Of The Rocket Mission The Rocket Mission The year was 2515. I walked into a nearby old antec shop where they sold mini Empire State Buildings, Pyramids, and Eiffel Towers. I went in there to collect a mini Eiffel Tower that the shop brought in, it had been a tradition that one person in my family would buy an Eiffel tower each year as a remembrance of my family s story of the Tower, and this year was my year. After I had walked into the shop and was greeted by a funky scent. It smelled like a mixture of dirty old man and dust. It didn t take me long before I figured out what the smell was, a small, wrinkly, old man walked up to me, greeting me with what looked like a bowl filled with dusty candy that must of been there for 20 years. Trying to be polite I took a candy and shoved it into my pocket knowing that I would never eat it anyway. The old man must of recognized me because before I had said anything, he slowly hobled to the back of the shop and came back with something in the basket on his walker. You must be a member of the Ferguson family, the old man had said in a raspy quiet voice. In reply I said, Yes I am, how did you know? You have the facial features of the others that have came in here. Wow you have a good memory for an old man. Who said being old causes memory loss. In amazement I asked, What s in your basket? Not evening replying to the question he handed me, a mini, one foot tall, metal Eiffel Towerthat had a thick layer of dust on it, I picked it up and wiped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Free 2050 Essay New Zealand released on Friday Predator Free 2050, a research strategy designed to eradicate rats and other invasive species in the country. Under the ambitious plan, Wellington plans to save New Zealand s bird by tapping CRISPR gene editing to eradicate rats, possums, and stoats. Under the strategy, all these species must die, down to the last mouse, The Atlantic reported. Predator Free 2050 started as a grassroots movement, but it picked up following huge public support and the backing of the government. Spreading genes through wild population The research strategy involves the use of CRISPR, the editing technique that scientists use to edit genes with ease and precision. Conservationists will exterminate the rats throughout New Zealand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the paper, Russell pointed out that in 2013, plant, vertebrate, and invertebrate pests destroyed NZ$1.44 billion ($977 million) in agriculture output losses annually. The idea became a movement, followed by government support. A limited company to administer an initial $28 million worth of funds was set up. Ecological xenophobia However, the plan was criticized by some people who said it is ecological xenophobia. To defend the plan, Russell pointed out that something is going to die anyway. Given two choices, he said he would rather that the rat would be killed humanely than for the rat to kill inhumanely the bird. Russell noted the economic impact of a predator free country. He cited Tiritiri Matangi, an island in the Hauraki Gulf, which welcomes about 14,000 foreign and 23,000 domestic tourists yearly. It was triple the number of visitors in the past after it became predator free in 1993. Tiritiri Matangi is one of the 100 small islands in New Zealand that has successfully eradicated mammals through the efforts of conservationists. However, the 100 islands represent only 10 percent of the country s offshore and 0.2 percent of the mainland. Ways to eradicate rats During the pre CRISPR days, other manual methods were used by conservationists to eradicate the mammals that kill New Zealand s birds. Don Merton, a legendary conservationist, poisoned the rats by hand in 1963. The Department of Conservation dropped poisoned bait using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay about Internet Pornography Censorship vs Free Speech The Internet is a worldwide network of computers and databases that has evolved rapidly in recent years. Tremendous amounts of information are transmitted and are fairly easy to obtain. Although in the past the information available was for the most part educational and business oriented, in recent years it has become much more diverse and questions have been raised as to the appropriateness of the content being viewed and consumed. Another issue is whether or not the government should take an active role in censoring it, especially when it comes to pornography, or cyberporn, as it is more commonly referred to when it is displayed on the Internet. Should cyberporn be censored? If so, who is responsible, parents or the government? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Supreme Court views obscenity as completely outside the scope of the first amendment s protection, and the Government may regulate speech freely as long as the Miller test is fulfilled (Simon 2). Although many may consider pornography to be obscene, by this definition, there seems to be some ambiguity. Pornography is defined as: Writings, pictures, etc., intended primarily to arouse sexual desire. Another question that needs to be asked is, does censorship of cyberporn violate the first amendment of the constitution? The first amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (Bill of Rights) The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that pornography and obscenity fall outside the first amendment. The Internet is akin to commercial network television, and government can constitutionally restrict T.V., so why not the Internet? Probably because adult conduct that includes sexually oriented conduct that has been considered by many to be immoral, has been protected by the First Amendment when it takes place in a private setting (Ford, Marrin, and Esposito 1). ... Since the war was going on, he was only able to construct his home with limited materials (Reynolds, 2001). Nevertheless, he was still able to incorporate the traditional Japanese architecture with influences of the western style. The Maekawa House is considered to be modern because of the introduction it had of a different type of design in Japan (Reynolds, 2001). Maekawa obtained the traditional wood construction and spacious garden; he added the living/dining room in the center of the house. The bedroom was in the back corner of the house for privacy reasons, and the other rooms were design on both sides of the living room... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was drawn by the English Arts and Crafts Movement and chose to write about John Ruskin s essay, Seven Lamps of Architecture. Maekawa was intrigued by how Ruskin defined the architectural detail of architects work. This made him more interested to find out what architecture was (Maekawa, 1984). He visited projects around Tokyo, and even got the chance to see Frank Lloyd Wright s Imperial Hotel but was disappointed by the lack of information (Maekawa, 1984). He read an architectural journal, Architectural Forum, and was not fascinated because there was no information of the design or the aesthetics. It seems magazines in the 1920 s were somewhat conservative (Maekawa, 1984). Maekawa entered Tokyo Imperial University in 1925 to pursue his architecture education and it was there when he was able to be exposed to the European trends (Maekawa, 1984). He learned about the Western and Japanese architectural history and took field trips to shrines and temples (Maekawa, 1984). He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in 1928 (Maekawa, 1984). He was then eluded by Europe s modernism where he later pursued his belief of modernism in Paris by working under, the well known architect, LeCorbusier (Maekawa, 1984). The first exposure that Maekawa had of LeCorbusier was when he read a report of LeCorbusier s Ville Contemporain (Maekawa, 1984)e. The book takes place before World War I through World War II. Corrie and her family lived in the Netherlands in the time of the Holocaust where they owned a build and repair shop for watches. She had two sisters named Betsie and Nollie, and one brother named Willem. Her father did most of the work with the watch shop, and her mother died when she was a little girl. In 1940 when the Nazis started invading the Netherlands, they would often find people praying in their shop because they were scared. This book had a lot to do with religion because people were scared and looked to God for answers. A quote that I believe goes with this is one from Corrie where she says , Lord Jesus, You were called to a hearing, too. Show me what to do. (Page 118 of Chapter 11) This reiterates that she was looking to God on what she should do. A theme that branches off of religion was faith. Faith played a very important role throughout the book, from normal practices of faith in the beginning of the book to Corrie using faith to keep strong in the labor camps. One quote that I feel describes this is, But if God has shown us bad times ahead it s enough for that he knows about them. That s why he sometimes shows us things you know, to tell us that this too is in his hands, (page 50 of Chapter 5) This quote shows that Corrie has faith in God that he has it all under control. All in all, I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It showed me a lot of different side of the Holocaust that I previously did not know. I think the best way to prevent terrible events from history from happening again is to learn more about them, and I believe this book does a great job in teaching the hardships and truths about what happened during the ... Adam and Eve Essay 3 Adam and Eve Marcie Smith REL 250 Paxton Reed November 16, 2008 Adam and Eve The term subordination is used frequently in the context of Trinitarian discussion, and has a clearly defined usage. Theologians of the past have spoken in some sense of the subordination of the Son and the Spirit within the boundaries of orthodoxy. However, how do we define it when it comes to women and the church? The story of Adam and Eve is a great place to start. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches. While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about the viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in the women s lives. Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in a rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover evidence for the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal place for women (Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a historical subject which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while Churches are still debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which laywomen can participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away from this. One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus are shaped by their presuppositions. Sonnet 130, written by William Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets. Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. • 55. My Father Was A Surveyor For The Us Army Corp Of Engineers My father was a surveyor for the US Army Corp of Engineers, so we traveled quite a bit before we moved to Arizona when I was ten. I remained in Arizona through college, where I pursued my degree in engineering. While I was in my third year I realized I did not want to be an engineer, but I did want to finish and earn my degree. After college I decided I wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, so I moved to California and became an Orange County Deputy Sheriff. I did this for almost 15 years and this is also where I met my wife, Diane, of over 23 years. Diane also moved to California, from Minnesota, for her job as a flight attendant. At the time she worked for Northwest Airlines, but that later merged with Delta Airlines. After being married for a few years we had our first of two children. Our son who is about to start his third year in college and our daughter who is about to start her first. Neither Diane, nor I, have family in California and we thought it was important to be near family, so our plan had always been to move to Minnesota before our children started elementary school. Since I traveled so much at an early age I thought it was important to move before our children started elementary school. My wife is part of a large family and my parents were the only ones still in Arizona, so Minnesota seemed like the logical place for us to select. I loved being a police officer, most of the time, and thought about continuing in that profession when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Monasticism And Intellectual L Essay example Religious and intellectual institutions underwent significant changes throughout the middle ages. In some cases, advances were made, and in others, there was a major decline. Through all of these times, the people of the middle ages learned what didn t work, what did, and how to progress once they found what did work. The true form of monasticism in the western Christian church was founded by Saint Benedict of Nursia. He wrote the famous quot;Benedict s Rule quot; between 520 530. These were schools attached to cathedrals where religious and secular men could be trained. By the thirteenth century, there were different religious orders among the monasteries. Two main orders were the Franciscans and the Dominicans. The Franciscan order was founded by Saint Francis. They took vows of poverty and lived among the poor. They preached repentance and aided the poor. This order was attractive to many people who were disgusted with the opulent lifestyles many other religious societies lived. The Dominicans were founded by Saint Dominic. This order was made up of mendicant, or begging friars. These were learned men who wanted to protect the teachings of the church from heresy. The Dominicans established schools and also had a representative government for themselves. These were both all male orders, but new establishments for women, called Beguines, were also developed in the thirteenth century. These were poor women who were devout Christians and dedicated to prayer. They lived together and supported themselves by begging and working menial jobs. They took no religious vows, however, and were free to leave as they pleased. They were accepted by the church until the fourteenth century. A religious order that was not accepted by the church were the Waldensians. This order was founded by Peter Waldo in southern France. Waldo was very similar to Saint Francis in his beliefs. • 57. Friedrich Schleiermacher s Views On Religion And Religion... Known as the Father of Modern Liberal Theology, Friedrich Schleiermacher was a German philosopher and theologian who directed his attention on the nature of religious experience from the viewpoint of the individual and human nature itself (MariГ±a 3). Highly influenced by German Romanticism, Schleiermacher attempted to settle the criticisms of the Enlightenment with conventional Protestant Christianity (Crouter 261). By doing so, he abandoned the Moravian theology that had neglected to gratify his growing reservations and he embraced the sensible outlook of Christian Wolff and Johann Salomo Semler. He then became accustomed to the methods of historical criticism of the New Testament and of Johann Augustus Eberhard, from whom he attained an adoration of the philosophy of Plato and Aristotle. Consequently, he began reforming Immanuel Kant s structure by implementing thoughts from the Greek thinkers (MariГ±a 3). On this basis, this essay will clearly articulate Friedrich Schleiermacher s conception of religionand religion s association with Christianity as expressed in Speech I: Defense and Speech II: The Nature of Religion of his work, On Religion: Speeches to Its Cultured Despisers. The essay will explore Schleiermacher s refutation of three notions of religion possessed by the despisers, clarify his recognition of the true religion with sensation as well as express his understanding of the association involving religion and Christianity.
