A Summary Of Rhetorical Techniques Used In Advertising
There are many ways that advertisements catch an audience s attention. To create the most effective
advertisement, the author or company may use emotional appeal in the image to keep the audience s
attention. They could also use a credible source to gain the audience s trust and create a more
believable ad. Lastly, creating an advertisement that uses logic and makes sense would keep anyone s
attention. The ad Absolute Stupidity uses all three of the characteristics that make an advertisement
effective. Not only does it include pathos, logos and ethos, it has a strong message behind it.
The advertisement is focusing on the popular issue of drinking and driving. Absolute Stupidity is
written in bold words across the bottom of the image, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although nothing has happened yet it will. It is also targeted towards people in general. The
irresponsible act of drinking and driving is not meant to be tested out. The ad is letting the audience
know that it is never okay to do so.
This ad was effective because it caught the audience s attention. They see the graphic image and want
to figure out what has happened. After seeing that someone has been killed due to this ignorant ac, it
will cause the viewers to think before acting on it.
The advertisement uses the three most important subjects of making an advertisement effective. It
successfully creates an emotional appeal to the audience by scaring them into not wanting to drink and
drive. The ad also provides common sense and logic in a creative way. It depicts the scene of drinking
and driving and doesn t just use boring words to explain it. Credibility is presented well too, it uses an
authority and has a trustworthy background. The advertisement used pathos, logos, and ethos and is

Dinosaurs Persuasive Essay
Have you ever wonder why dinosaurs went extinct? Here is a theory of why the dinosaurs don t exist
in today s world. A long time ago the only thing that existed was animals called dinosaurs they were
the only living things on planet earth. These dinosaurs were unique because they could talk but
nobody could understand them, it was like their secret code language. These dinosaurs lived a happy
and healthy life until the small explosion changed the life of these dinosaures. Just few miles away
from earth a fight started between two planets called Sun and Moon . The argument was about who
would shine more light on earth. The argument went to the point where they started to shoot fireballs
at the moon and then the moon started to throw rocks at the sun. During the fight one the fireballs
misses it s target (moon) and made its was towards the earth but apparently there was space ship
traveling the universe full of aliens and the fireball came in its path which made space ship crashed on
Earth including the huge fireball. The fireball was so powerful that it almost brought everything that
came in its path such as rocks, asteroids and much more. When the space ship crashed on planet Earth
creating a loud bang, making the dinosaurs frighten in terror. Then the biggest problem in Earth s
history step out of the broken space ship. There were 5 weird aliens that step out of the space ship.
They had very big heads that looked like blue almonds. When the aliens step out they

The Burden Of St. Paul Essay
The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them
Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal,
monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised
as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during
this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly
persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was
given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he
would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to
Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul,
Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew
then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These
renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation
through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of
approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of which actively
send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or even

In recent years, airlines build a closer relationship, especially European airlines and Chinese airlines.
Europe is the headstream of airplane, but compared to North America, European aviation is a little bit
weak on the ridership. In late 1990s and early 2000s, Europe had more interactions with American
aviation. In recent years, Europe set China as a new partner. European aviation is trying to expand its
international market through increasing new cooperation.
In recent years, the relationship between Chinese and European Aviation is getting closer. The
strongest evidence is that Chinese government and European Union have signed a 5 year work
agreement for reducing the economic burden in aviation industry, preserving aviation safety and
environmental compatibility. European Union and China emphasized the importance of this project by
preparing over 10 million euro as its budget. The detailed work plan was reviewed and updated in
September 2016. This is the first official cooperation in European and Chinese aviation, which is
managed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Administration of
China.
In terms to those individual airlines, there is another event that caught the public attention is that the

Argumentative Copy Of The Conservative Party
CONSERVATIVE PARTY The conservative are a group that focuses more on profit from businesses
then they do in environmental protection. They are motivated by personal profit and will do anything
to secure they share. They cash off the land in using to many natural resources and making billions of
dollars. They don t care about what gets in the way or if anyone gets hurt, they only cares if they get
what they want. With this that is why nothing would change in Avatar if the conservative party found a
planet like Pandora. They would see an opportunity to harvest any new materials like unobtainium
there and would sell it back to earth. They would send troops and businessmen to the planet to
uncover valuable materials and sell back to the people

My Old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General ( Bg )
I have chosen to write about my old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General(BG) Peter Jones. The
then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq.
He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an unwavering
presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my
military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success
whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I have set my standards of
leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of influence. I will outline some
examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were numerous times were people would try and pressure him into a decision by noting there
was no time for indecision. He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before
reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what
a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He
was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed
due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed
this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward
position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area
for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He
had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told
numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had
planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I
learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong
intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. BG Jones was a lead from
the front style of leader. He would not sit idly by while his

The Amendment Rights Must Be The Most Controversial...
Second Amendment rights must be the most controversial section of the Constitution, it most
definitely has to be the most challenged. Lawsuits have been brought up against the Second
Amendment for many years, challenging whether or not it should still be a part of the Constitution,
and the meaning behind the verbiage used. The anti gun crowd has attempted multiple times to prove
the Second Amendment should apply only to a militia and that the average citizen has no right to own
a firearm. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is the largest lobbyist group for pro gun rights and
one of the most powerful interest groups in politics today. They have successfully supported the
defense of the peoples right to own firearms for many years. After many years of failing to accomplish
their agenda, the anti gun crowd has a new tactic: instead of facing the multimillion members of the
NRA (Statistic Brain Research Institute, 2014) they are now going after the gun manufacturers and
dealers. They cannot stop the sale of guns therefore they want to eliminate the source. This paper will
identify the historical foundation of the Second Amendment, describe the National Rifle Association s
involvement, and site the legal precedence and challenges.

of different types of clothing, the guys wearing things ranging from tuxedos to halloween costumes
and the girls usually wearing dresses and clothes that are dressing to impress . They can go on and on
forever telling stories about their lives, but don t worry usually they are funny and upbeat adventures.
If you treat them right, The drunks generally leave tips ranging from five to twenty dollars and
sometimes you ll just get and absurd tip. The Drunks are the styrofoam take out boxes. Something to

laugh at every once and awhile. Personally theses are my favorite customers to deal with, I love
having an enjoyable and amusing conversation with them. To cope with The Drunks is simple, keep
the conversations going, always look like you re intrigued with their stories. Smile and be happy they
love to joke around. They are almost like toddlers, they get entertained very easily. Speak in a less

Essay on I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen
I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen is a depiction of a mother daughter relationship that lacks
involvement and warmth. The whole story composed of the mother s memory of her relationship with
her daughter, Emily. The memory was a painful one comprised mostly of the way the mother was
much less able to care for Emily. The forsaken of Emily demonstrates the importance of physical and
emotional support.
The mother was an invisible parent for Emily. Her reason for not being there for Emily was because
she was a young and distracted mother (Olsen 262). The real reason she was inattentive was because
she was inexperienced. She lacks the understanding of how essential it is to be there physically for
Emily. Emily needed her mother for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emotional support also plays an important role of Emily s well being. The idea mother suppose to
care, support, and value their children needs. Emily needed this nourishment. She needed her mother
to smile at her in order for her to feel a connection with the person that she supposed to be able to
depend on. Emily s mother did not know how to communicate with Emily. The mother daughter
relationship has an element of coldness, it lacks warmth. There were years she did not want me to
touch her (Olsen 262). Emily s mother inability to interact with her, leaves Emily unloved and in
return, she shall not express any love toward her mother. Emily s mother feels her wisdom came too
late (Olsen 262). With this thought in mind, Emily s mother shall never show communication or love
to Emily, therefore the relationship shall continue to be doomed.
Emily s mother felt like she was forced to neglect Emily. Her excuse was that the time was hard, it
was the age of depression, of war, of fear (Olsen 262). Although things were not under Emily s mother
s control, she takes responsibility anyway. In society, parents are thought to provide physical and
emotional support so that their children can advance through life with prosperity. This paper is the

Ride-Sharing Controversy
In recent months, there has been controversy surrounding the fairly new and popular concept of ride
sharing companies . Primarily, ride sharing companies are online based networks that connect
passengers with drivers that use their personal vehicles through a mobile platform. Some of the most
popular ride sharing companies include the well known Uber, Lyft, and Wingz s. The packleader of
them all, Uber, has recently been challenged by the government, taxi companies, and their own drivers

Ridesharing companies claims that with their programs such as Uberpool and Lyft Line, it can actually
be beneficial for the environment. As the name implies, Uberpool is a carpooling method based on
splitting fares with people going to the same place as you. It s environmentally efficient by having less
cars on the road because it reduces single rider fares, resulting in less harmfull emissions (Uber).
According to Amanda Eaken, a director of transportation and climate at the National Resource
Defense Council, 40 percent of emissions in California is from transportation. Additionally, along with
the main ideas from A Struggle to Govern the Commons, more emissions raise the atmospheric
concentrations of CO2, a known greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. So with this,
UberPool and Lyft Line may actually make an effect on helping the environment. However there are
limitations to this, it is not currently based by any research, just a theoretical hypothesis. Fortunately,
some scientific research is on the way. Eaken, along with Professor Susan Shaheen from UC Berkeley
s Transportation Sustainability Research Center, is creating a scientific study on the true
environmental effects of ridesharing companies. They will compile research from data directly from

Judge Gray s Argumentative Essay
To support his claims, Judge Gray cites two court cases: Gains v. Gains (1820) and Leaycraft v.
Simmons (1854). The first case states that testator intention was to destroy the will, but was prevented
from doing so. However, the testator s intention could not be substituted as revocation, making the
will still valid. The second case involves a testator who wanted to alter his will to grant more gifts to
the benefactor. But, the testator s son refused to give back the will for alteration. It was decided that
the will sustains its integrity since it was not altered or revoked. These cases provide convincing proof
for the dissent judge s arguments that since the will was not revoked, the court should grant Elmer his

instruments such as loans and deposits, where both borrower and lender have to agree on a transfer.
Derivative instruments are financial instruments which derive their value from the value and

What Is Openstack And Its Importance
Service Providers and enterprises need to ensure that their networks remain a relevant and important
part of users everyday experience, and deliver added value in new and unique ways. How new
technologies like cloud, Software Defined Networking (SDN) will help them do this and efficient
management across network resources and cloud application. In this paper we have talked about what
is Openstack and its importance and briefly explored three major Openstack projects Compute,
Storage and Network and discussed their capabilities. Secondly we have mentioned three different
approaches of SDN Cloud convergence. How SDN proves useful in cloud environment and achieve
high flexibility and higher innovation. The also paper presents an alternate architecture that combines
SDN and Cloud Architecture. 1. Introduction: Traditional network model requires tremendous
commitment of hardware resources, dedicated budgets along with managing On premise datacentre.
The enterprise or the IT industry is dependent on its own computing, storage and networking
capabilities. Effective solution for the traditional networking model is Cloud. Cloud computing is on
demand service. Virtualizing network resource for providing users with the required bandwidth and
level of service they expect is the promise of Cloud. There are quite a few cloud service providers who
offer cloud services to manage computing and storage resources. But the IT industry and others have

of danger (Petrova, 2014). However, in light of this there is an expectation of the fight or flight
response that police are to fight not fleeing. These attitudes of fight instead of fleeing in the face of
dangerous or unknown situations has influenced American police to be more inclined to use lethal
force when one would usually not, because they are not in a position of authority and power (Petrova,
2014). This is similar behavior found in the Stamford Prison Experiment guards as that the guards,
when given authority and power felt more inclined to start using more aggressive behaviors and
misconduct towards the prisoners because they were the ones that must be submissive (McLeod,
2016). However, unlike that of the Stanford Prison Experiment where the guards were randomly
selected, American police and many law enforcement agencies throughout the world are hired to be
ethical, reasonable and understanding of safety of their work (Petrova, 2014). This should have trained
the American police to not to act in ways of excessive force however their position of authority and
power gives a perceived blanket of immunity allowing them to be more free to exercise excessive
force sometimes going beyond just enforcing the law (Petrova, 2014). Position and power were two
factors that were also explored in Stamford Prison Experiment, which has identified similarities to
American police, misconduct using

Why Marijuana Should Remain Illegal
Marijuana is proven to contain more than 400 chemicals. Throughout time, it has been used to
eliminate pain. Marijuana became illegal in the 1930s when it became known as an intoxicant drug
and a dangerous narcotic. Along with becoming illegal came the restrictions of growth, sales, and
consumption. Marijuana has many negative side effects mental and physical.
Marijuana has been used by millions of people who continually use it on a regular basis even though it
is illegal. This essay will describe and analyze what marijuana is, how it affects the ... Show more

When smoking this drug, the THC goes directly to the lungs in which it is absorbed by alveoli. Alveoli
is where gas exchange happens by tiny air sacs. THC enters the blood stream in just a matter of
seconds of using this drug. When eating or drinking marijuana, it enters the stomach and is carried to
the liver in which it is then sent to the rest of the body. Eating marijuana is less effective than
smoking; however the effects of the drug stay in the body for twice as long. Even though this drug
leaves the body quicker when smoked rather than eaten, this drug is still dangerous. How dangerous is
marijuana? The initial effects of the chemical, THC in marijuana wears off in a few hours, but the
chemicals stay in the body for a longer period of time. These chemicals can last from 20 hours to 10
days, depending on the amount and potency in the drug used. Marijuana has many negative long term
and short term effects on the body. Long term effects can consist of cancer, memory loss, brain
damage, breathing problems, reduced blood flow to the brain as well as a change inthe reproductive
organs and the immune system (NIDA). The short term effects can consist of decreased coordination,
memory loss, tremors, nausea, headaches, increased appetite, slowed reaction time and slowed

Culture Clash In House Of Sand And Fog By Amy Tan
The world has a variety of cultures and religions, and in this generation these different
cultures mix. It is not easy for some people to accept these different faiths and morals, however
they learn to day by day. In books such as House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III and The Joy
Luck Club by Amy Tan, the authors convey the theme of the clash of cultures. Writing books
about different cultures and the struggle of their acceptance, is crucial for modern society because
it gives the world a realistic view on what is actually happening. Perhaps the message the authors
are trying to send with the theme of culture clash, is that because of all the different cultures,
people should learn to accept the variety.

In the Joy Luck Club, all of the chinese mothers have a poor relationship with their
daughters, mostly because of the language barrier and the daughters non existing knowledge of
Chinese Culture. One can see this with Jing

beginning of the book, Jing
mei, or June, wants to be known as an American, not Chinese. Either it
is the fact that being Chinese embarrasses her or she does not feel Chinese because she does not
know the language, June Woo is stuck in between two of her cultures colliding. It is easy to not
feel one s nationality when no one takes the time to teach it. June s mother never really has the
desire to teach June about Chinese culture, she just expects June to know it already. June goes as
far as saying, I didn t have to do what my mother said anymore. I wasn t her slave. This wasn t
China. I had listened to her before and look what happened. She was the stupid one (141). By
making that little jab at Chinese communism, it is quite obvious June does not know much about

A Comprehensive Measure That Affects An Individual s...
The ABAS II is a comprehensive measure that assesses an individual s behavior scale. It was
developed by Patti Harrison and Thomas Oakland based on information gathered in a matter of eight
years. The standardization has samples for the Parent/Primary Caregiver and Teacher/Daycare
Provider Forms for children ages birth to five years comprised 2,100 individuals. The standardization
samples for the Parent and Teacher Forms, and Adult Form is comprised of 5,270 individuals that
represent the U.S. population. (Harrison Oakland, 2008) ABAS II was designed to assess how a
person responds to daily demands, and to determine eligibility for services. The ABAS II has new
features in its test that encompass infant pre school rating forms, and it has an expanded structure that
focuses on the current American Association of Mental Retardation (AAMR). (Sattler, 2002) The test
consists of different forms that can be filled out. The parent form, which consists of 232 question
items. A teacher form, which consists of 193 question items, and an adult form consisting of 236
questions. The questions are answered based on a 4 point Likert type rating scale. You will score 0 for
items that are not able , 1 on items that are never , 2 on items that reflect sometimes , and 3 on items
that reflect always . This test takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes and should be administered in an
interview question/answer form. Pattison Oakland (2008) explained that significant limitations in

Joe Whitehead, the teacher of the course have said that they are willing to teach the teachers what they
know. This is why I propose that during the summer the teachers have to go to a one week training
program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics of
figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the
problem while they are waiting for one of the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the
problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution is a cost
effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to
completely find, isolate and fix the technical issue the work shop could be a month long but only
mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught.
Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The
next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the technology. During the mandatory week of training
you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the
school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. Students complain about teachers not
understating what it is like to be a student and sit in a boring class , and teachers complain that the
students do not understand what it is like to get up in front of a class to teach.

Decision Making And The Prospect Theory
Introduction
Decision making is the act of choosing the best solution to a problem depending on its value and the
preferences of the decision maker. In the first part of this essay, we will explore the Expected Utility
theory and the Prospect Theory, which are normative and descriptive approaches to making decisions
with inherent risks. The first part of the essay argues that Expected Utility Theory is a less viable
hypothesis to decision making and is fundamentally flawed compared to the Prospect Theory in
description and function. Prospect theory is a better model for decision making because firstly,
decisions are not often made objectively and can be affected by decision weights. Secondly,
individuals are not risk averse as suggested by the utility theory, but are instead loss averse. Lastly,
individuals evaluate decisions not by their final resting utility, but instead they react dependently
based on their reference point. The second part of the essay will delve into the topic of heuristics that
emerge in investment decision making. The main biases that investors make include disposition effect,
anchoring and adjustments bias and overconfidence.
Part 1.
Expected utility theory states what rational decision makers should do in order to maximise their
utility. On the other hand, Prospect Theory describes how individuals make decisions when faced with
perceived risk and uncertainty. Utility can be explained by how much an individual values an extra
unit of wealth.

The Importance Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing
Fingerprinting and Blood testing are essential methods of identification to prove if a defendant
committed a crime or if there is a relationship between victim and defendant. Information of this
nature is critical to criminal proceedings; however, there is no testimony being taken; therefore,
counseling is not needed because a defendant cannot refuse such testing on the grounds of the Fifth
Amendment. Fingerprint identification evidence is equated with guilt, while the lack of fingerprint
identification evidence infers a weakness in the prosecution s case (Lawson, 2013). Fingerprint
identification is one of the most important criminal investigation tools due to two features: their
persistence and their uniqueness. A person s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

DNA crime investigators need to compare a profile believed to be from a crime perpetrator with a

The Veldt And There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury...
Technology Against Humanity Technology is a helpful tool that society has become accustomed to
using. However, the overuse of technology can lead to disaster. In The Veldt and There Will Come
Soft Rains , Ray Bradbury explores the power that technology holds through the use of futuristic
gadgets. Both stories contain smart homes that provide everything for the humans living in the house
and show the destruction caused by it. Through these technological advancements, the reader sees how
mankind is being defeated by its own creation in mental and physical ways. Bradbury uses the
superior technology of the smart home, the replacement of humans for the newest electronics, and the
dependence of technology on humans to explain that overindulgence of these modern appliances can
have drastic results. The smart home s advanced technology leads more to demise rather than
happiness. An example of this is in The Veldt when it is stated that, They walked down the hall of their
soundproofed Happylife Home, which had cost them thirty thousand dollars installed, this house
which clothed and fed and rocked them to sleep and played and sang and was good to them (3 4). The
house does everything for them, but it still cannot put Lydia at ease. It also makes its inhabitants feel
useless which does more to harm them than help them. Another instance of technology leading to
demise is in There Will Come Soft Rains when Bradbury states that, The house tries to save itself (11).
Technology has become so much like humans that it is performing human actions. Unfortunately, all
humans must die which is why technology must do it as well. Technology s death is also
foreshadowed in this passage which states, This was the one house left standing. At night the ruined
city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles ( Soft Rains 5). Technology has
outlived humans yet it cannot survive without them. When this computerization of a home tries to
survive on its own, it causes destruction. In short, when technology has no more humans left to serve,
its purpose is gone. Therefore all it has left to do is vanish. The humans in these stories also depend so
much on technology that they have been replaced by it. Technology s

The Problem Of Depression And Anxiety Disorders
At first glance, one might say that the main concerns college students face today are financial
difficulties and lack of sleep. But upon closer inspection the main predicament comes into focus;
mental illness. Mental illnesses detriment students immensely, with about ninety two percent of
college students suffering from some form of mental illness. The two most common occurring mental
illnesses are depression and anxiety disorders. Nearly twenty seven percent of students experience
some form of depression, which takes away all motivation to work hard and achieve. Anxiety
disorders range in form, but about eleven percent of students deal with some form of a nervous
disorder (Speak). One would assume universities would provide services to assist their students.
However, that is not the case. While there are futile attempts at treatment programs being available on
campuses, many of these programs are unsafe and untrustworthy. Due to many students moving away
from home for the first time, and being detached from their families, it is very important for
universities to help their students because it may be the only resource available to them. Admittedly,
many schools do try to make an effort towards assisting with mental illness difficulties. However,
these efforts are often in vain due to lack of understanding for mental illnesses. Many people may
object to the idea that mental illnesses really affect success in school. Yet, I would argue that it is the
biggest problems

Tea: Tea began as a luxury drink, and then trickled down to become the beverage of the working man.
The story of tea is the story of imperialism, industrialization, and world domination. According to
Chinese tradition, the first cup of tea was brewed by the emperor Shen Nung. Before tea was a
beverage, it was used for medicinal purposes and foodstuff. Tea became a daily drink in China around
the third century A.D. As the Industrial Revolution of 18th and 19th centuries gained steam, tea
provided some of the fuel. Factory workers stayed alert during long, monotonous shifts thanks to
welcome tea breaks. The beverage also had unintended health benefits for rapidly growing urban
areas. Chewing leaves and rubbing them on wounds were ways that tea was used for medicinal
purposes. Coca Cola In May 1886 John Pemberton invented a drink, Coca Cola, by accidentally
stumbling on the right combination of ingredients while trying to devise a cure for headaches.
Pemberton was an experienced maker of patient medicines, which were hugely popular in America in
the late nineteenth century. The name was coined by one of Pemberton s business associates, Frank

and putting up posters and banners that read Drink Coca Cola, 5c. Robinson also developed the

In the case of semi active suspensions with sequential damping, the damping forces are zero or rather
very small as long as the sprung mass is moving away from its static equilibrium position and
suddenly increases when the system is returning to the static equilibrium position. The basic idea of
this semi active control strategy is to balance the elastic force by the damping force in order to reduce
or even to cancel the forces transmitted through the suspension as long as the spring and elastic forces

Semi active control systems combine the best features of the passive and active ones. They have
almost the same environmental robustness, mechanical simplicity and low cost as passive devices and
can offer the adaptability of active control systems without requiring the associated large power
sources.
In this paper the effect of semi active suspension with Magneto rheological fluid to control the
damping characteristic of the system and balanced logic on which the system works is presented. The
damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric
or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance
logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of
the normal force applied on the friction plates. For the models with semi active dual rate dampers, the
value of the equivalent suspension damping coefficient is a function of the relative velocity of the
sprung mass with respect to the wheel subsystem.
Key Words: Transmissibility factor, Magneto rheological fluid, Sequential damping

  • 4. The Burden Of St. Paul Essay The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. A New Era Of Deep Cooperation A New Era of Deep Cooperation Economic 2166F November 29, 2016 Jingwen Guo 250811379 In recent years, airlines build a closer relationship, especially European airlines and Chinese airlines. Europe is the headstream of airplane, but compared to North America, European aviation is a little bit weak on the ridership. In late 1990s and early 2000s, Europe had more interactions with American aviation. In recent years, Europe set China as a new partner. European aviation is trying to expand its international market through increasing new cooperation. In recent years, the relationship between Chinese and European Aviation is getting closer. The strongest evidence is that Chinese government and European Union have signed a 5 year work agreement for reducing the economic burden in aviation industry, preserving aviation safety and environmental compatibility. European Union and China emphasized the importance of this project by preparing over 10 million euro as its budget. The detailed work plan was reviewed and updated in September 2016. This is the first official cooperation in European and Chinese aviation, which is managed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China. In terms to those individual airlines, there is another event that caught the public attention is that the chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Carsten Spohr and Mr. Song Zhiyong, President and Executive Director of Air China ... The then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. Lawsuits have been brought up against the Second Amendment for many years, challenging whether or not it should still be a part of the Constitution, and the meaning behind the verbiage used. The anti gun crowd has attempted multiple times to prove the Second Amendment should apply only to a militia and that the average citizen has no right to own a firearm. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is the largest lobbyist group for pro gun rights and one of the most powerful interest groups in politics today. They have successfully supported the defense of the peoples right to own firearms for many years. After many years of failing to accomplish their agenda, the anti gun crowd has a new tactic: instead of facing the multimillion members of the NRA (Statistic Brain Research Institute, 2014) they are now going after the gun manufacturers and dealers. They cannot stop the sale of guns therefore they want to eliminate the source. This strict line of how to act if someone has a high authoritative position can restrict those whom may oppose certain acts against people. American police are given an expectation of being patient, wise, honest and brave in the face of danger (Petrova, 2014). However, in light of this there is an expectation of the fight or flight response that police are to fight not fleeing. These attitudes of fight instead of fleeing in the face of dangerous or unknown situations has influenced American police to be more inclined to use lethal force when one would usually not, because they are not in a position of authority and power (Petrova, 2014). This is similar behavior found in the Stamford Prison Experiment guards as that the guards, when given authority and power felt more inclined to start using more aggressive behaviors and misconduct towards the prisoners because they were the ones that must be submissive (McLeod, 2016). However, unlike that of the Stanford Prison Experiment where the guards were randomly selected, American police and many law enforcement agencies throughout the world are hired to be ethical, reasonable and understanding of safety of their work (Petrova, 2014). This should have trained the American police to not to act in ways of excessive force however their position of authority and power gives a perceived blanket of immunity allowing them to be more free to exercise excessive force sometimes going beyond just enforcing the law (Petrova, 2014). This is why I propose that during the summer the teachers have to go to a one week training program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics of figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the problem while they are waiting for one of the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution is a cost effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to completely find, isolate and fix the technical issue the work shop could be a month long but only mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught. Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the technology. During the mandatory week of training you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. Students complain about teachers not understating what it is like to be a student and sit in a boring class , and teachers complain that the students do not understand what it is like to get up in front of a class to teach. ... • 30. Decision Making And The Prospect Theory Introduction Decision making is the act of choosing the best solution to a problem depending on its value and the preferences of the decision maker. In the first part of this essay, we will explore the Expected Utility theory and the Prospect Theory, which are normative and descriptive approaches to making decisions with inherent risks. The first part of the essay argues that Expected Utility Theory is a less viable hypothesis to decision making and is fundamentally flawed compared to the Prospect Theory in description and function. Prospect theory is a better model for decision making because firstly, decisions are not often made objectively and can be affected by decision weights. Secondly, individuals are not risk averse as suggested by the utility theory, but are instead loss averse. Lastly, individuals evaluate decisions not by their final resting utility, but instead they react dependently based on their reference point. The second part of the essay will delve into the topic of heuristics that emerge in investment decision making. The main biases that investors make include disposition effect, anchoring and adjustments bias and overconfidence. Part 1. Expected utility theory states what rational decision makers should do in order to maximise their utility. On the other hand, Prospect Theory describes how individuals make decisions when faced with perceived risk and uncertainty. Utility can be explained by how much an individual values an extra unit of wealth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing Fingerprinting and Blood testing are essential methods of identification to prove if a defendant committed a crime or if there is a relationship between victim and defendant. Information of this nature is critical to criminal proceedings; however, there is no testimony being taken; therefore, counseling is not needed because a defendant cannot refuse such testing on the grounds of the Fifth Amendment. Fingerprint identification evidence is equated with guilt, while the lack of fingerprint identification evidence infers a weakness in the prosecution s case (Lawson, 2013). • 33. The Veldt And There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury... Technology Against Humanity Technology is a helpful tool that society has become accustomed to using. However, the overuse of technology can lead to disaster. In The Veldt and There Will Come Soft Rains , Ray Bradbury explores the power that technology holds through the use of futuristic gadgets. Both stories contain smart homes that provide everything for the humans living in the house and show the destruction caused by it. Through these technological advancements, the reader sees how mankind is being defeated by its own creation in mental and physical ways. Bradbury uses the superior technology of the smart home, the replacement of humans for the newest electronics, and the dependence of technology on humans to explain that overindulgence of these modern appliances can have drastic results. The smart home s advanced technology leads more to demise rather than happiness. An example of this is in The Veldt when it is stated that, They walked down the hall of their soundproofed Happylife Home, which had cost them thirty thousand dollars installed, this house which clothed and fed and rocked them to sleep and played and sang and was good to them (3 4). The house does everything for them, but it still cannot put Lydia at ease. It also makes its inhabitants feel useless which does more to harm them than help them. Another instance of technology leading to demise is in There Will Come Soft Rains when Bradbury states that, The house tries to save itself (11). Technology has become so much like humans that it is performing human actions. Unfortunately, all humans must die which is why technology must do it as well. Technology s death is also foreshadowed in this passage which states, This was the one house left standing. At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles ( Soft Rains 5). Technology has outlived humans yet it cannot survive without them. When this computerization of a home tries to survive on its own, it causes destruction. In short, when technology has no more humans left to serve, its purpose is gone. Therefore all it has left to do is vanish. The humans in these stories also depend so much on technology that they have been replaced by it. Technology s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Problem Of Depression And Anxiety Disorders At first glance, one might say that the main concerns college students face today are financial difficulties and lack of sleep. But upon closer inspection the main predicament comes into focus; mental illness. Mental illnesses detriment students immensely, with about ninety two percent of college students suffering from some form of mental illness. The two most common occurring mental illnesses are depression and anxiety disorders. Nearly twenty seven percent of students experience some form of depression, which takes away all motivation to work hard and achieve. Anxiety disorders range in form, but about eleven percent of students deal with some form of a nervous disorder (Speak). One would assume universities would provide services to assist their students. However, that is not the case. While there are futile attempts at treatment programs being available on campuses, many of these programs are unsafe and untrustworthy. Due to many students moving away from home for the first time, and being detached from their families, it is very important for universities to help their students because it may be the only resource available to them. Admittedly, many schools do try to make an effort towards assisting with mental illness difficulties. However, these efforts are often in vain due to lack of understanding for mental illnesses. The damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of the normal force applied on the friction plates. For the models with semi active dual rate dampers, the value of the equivalent suspension damping coefficient is a function of the relative velocity of the sprung mass with respect to the wheel subsystem.
