Gatsby and Tom s Horse Race: Tom, Sloane, and a pretty woman arrived at Gatsby s house on
horseback. As they were all about to leave, Gatsby urged them to stay for supper because he wanted to
learn more about Tom. The lady enthusiastically asked Gatsby and Nick to go to supper at her house
instead. Tom, on the contrary, did not want Gatsby to attend the dinner party and mockingly accused
Gatsby of not owning a horse for Gatsby was far from elegant. To Tom s surprise, Gatsby did own a
horse and he claimed it to be the fastest horse in the East. Gatsby would ride in the army and since
then has grown very fond of horseback riding. Tom, being a professional polo player, believed he had
a better horse and challenged Gatsby to a race. Gatsby accepted and they all rode to Tom s house
where he had horse racing stadium. When they arrived, the stadium was already being filled in by the
dozens and high bids began to get placed.
The race began with a gun shot. Whoever pulled up in first out of 4 laps was the winner. Gatsby had a
huge lead by the end of the first lap then Tom began to gain speed and they were neck and neck all
through out the second and third lap. Finishing the fourth lap it appeared as if though Tom s horse felt
a restraint and Gatsby pulled up easily and took the win. Wolsheim had made an appearance at the
race so people began to accuse him of what happened to Tom s horse thinking he rigged the game

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis
In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation during her
present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of the animation is
the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is an interesting way of
using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are parts of the animation that
switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and white to color to show time
period. I find this concept very appealing and creative. are the growing tensions of the political
climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal leaning family detained and then
executed, and the background of the disastrous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marjane grew up in Iran during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1970s which creates a layer of complication in
her life due to living in a war zone. As a child there was protest going on against the Shah that was in
power at that time. Marjane as a child is a very lively child that is frustrated by the current events
being war and violence. By taking us through her life starting the flashback at childhood then though
teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience on being an Iranian woman during this
time. I did not know that women in Iran during the post war periods were treated so poorly by men in
authority, I also did not know that alcohol was a forbidden beverage. I learned a lot through this
animation by understanding what Marjane went through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a
teenager was very entertaining to watch. Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot
at punk concerts in Europe. When an animator is honest in their work it is appealing and easy to
watch; which is how I felt about this animation. Satrapi did not hold back in language, emotion, and
details throughout the story of this

Lincoln s Representation Of Lincoln
There has been a scant amount of research on how Abraham Lincoln has been illustrated in motion
pictures. Yet, movies have a dominant clout on how Lincoln s images has been established in
American popular culture. Movies such as Birth of a Nation, Young Mr. Lincoln, Abe Lincoln in
Illinois, and Lincoln have given audiences different glimpses of the sixteenth president. The legend of
Lincoln has been created and altered in film in oder to create a hero to fit the times. This paper will
focus on Lincoln films over a 100 year time plan from Birth of a Nation to Lincoln. This research will
also show how and why Lincoln s representation in film has changed over times. I will also discuss

The word rhetoric has various meanings. Rhetoric can be easily explained as the ways in which signs
influence people. As history goes on we see the rhetoric changes over time. Rhetoric has been studied
for a countless number of years. The beginnings of rhetoric starts off in the roots of the Western World
with the Greeks. Political rhetoric can date back to the days of the Greeks and the Romans. The
Roman Republic relief on writing and letters to produce legislation for it s citizens. The printing press
aloud for mass production of political news. The radio made political stories more intimate especially
for the listeners at home. Television gave viewers an image of politics in action. Finally the internet
brought the world together and made more aware of international news. Rhetoric has always been an
essential to political communication for hundreds of years. Movies are not just clips that move and tell
a story but, they are also clips that can move an audience. We need movies to open are eyes to the
implication our our realities (Brummett, 6). Now we we focus on rhetoric and pop culture. We
unknowingly witness rhetoric in everyday life. To first understand how rhetoric influences Lincoln
films we must begin looking at one of the building blocks. Everything is a s sign in rhetoric. In the
rhetorical world a sign is something that has meaning and can allow us to be remind of something
else. Signs will be a crucial

The Impact Of Technology On Technology Acceptance
Introduction
A range of studies has been conducted on instructional technology. Many findings show that
technology has a significant contribution to the improvement in teachers competency and instruction
effectiveness. However, not all applications of technology in the classroom lead to the desired goals.
There are numerous constrains that may contribute to this. The level of technology acceptance is one
of these factors. However, what influences technology acceptance among teachers? The article
discusses a study conducted to determine the influence of gender on technology acceptance. This
article is important to my research topic. Many research studies conducted in the past have focused on
the impact of technology on the effectiveness of teaching or student learning. Few articles have
focused on factors affecting technological adoption in learning facilities. These studies have found an
improvement in learners scores on tests associated with content covered in technology assisted
instructional packages. While the selection of suitable technology is the initial step, employment of
the technology by teachers determines its effectiveness. The effectiveness factor of instructional
technologies is often ignored. The reasoning is that teachers may be willing to utilize technology but
may be influenced by other factors besides availability of necessary technology. The problem calls for
research as educators need to proactively take such factors into consideration when

Regional Hometown Race
NASCAR s newest events, Regional Hometown Races (RHR) have taken the large scale NASCAR
branding strategy and localized it through regional races and rivalries. These racing events are
sponsored by NASCAR and backed by the promotional strength of the brand name sponsors. These
Regional Hometown Races would regionalize the television broadcasts, begin co branding with
localized small businesses, and differentiate racing venues depending on the region. Television
broadcasts are fought over and highly respected in any community. National networks broadcast the
most major sporting events while the localized broadcasts may show the local minor league teams,
county fairs, and contests. Now, with Regional Hometown Races sponsored by NASCAR, the regional
broadcasts can take advantage of the co branding techniques of NASCAR to practically promote
themselves on the local station. The attraction of races on television paired with the realization that the

the RHR can be held on all tracks available in the region from the dirt tracks, to road courses, to large

teams, creating a line up of all star RHR racers. These racers can compete in a cross regional series of
racers to determine a grand champion for all Regions combined in the NASCAR RHR series. Overall,
the inclusion of regional broadcasts would promote NASCAR as a friendly company in all regions,
including those without a huge NASCAR presence. The addition of small business promotion and co

The Negative Effects Of Dropping The Dropouts In Schools
Dropping the Dropouts
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world. It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the harmful
aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or simply fit in
when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path, every student
deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena Independent School
District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015 the highest percentage
of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority. Although minorities tend to
have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established such as the Communities In
Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an employee of this particular
organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the Pasadena ISD. Regardless of
all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work we put toward the program, it is
no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program even though it is evident that
students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most compared to other school districts. This
is because there is not enough support from the administrators in the district and because those who
distribute the grants deliberately decided to give it to another district.

Budget Cuts And Intermediate Units
Budget cuts and Intermediate Units
As the nation falls on hard economic times, all aspects of society are affected, including education.
School districts are faced with decreased funding from federal and state resources and an increase in
the cost of salaries and benefits. This is causing deficits that, if left unchecked can adversely affect the
educational process and ultimately have a negative impact on students and society. School Districts
have increased expectations toward accountability and performance with diminishing resources. They
are expected to do more with less. The Maintenance of Effort requirement in IDEA 34 CFR §300.203
puts limits on how a LEA determines ways to address their budget deficits. Funding formulas ... Show

If a student is in need, this need does not change just because funding has decreased. The decline in
federal monies supporting IDEA regulations, 40% federal funding when the law was crafted to the
current contribution of 16.5%, (Shah, 2014) leave the state and local governments picking up the
deficits to maintain effort. This law can create barriers if the effort being maintained is fruitless.
Districts are continually looking for ways to overcome these barriers. These alternative approaches
seek to turn the budgetary challenge into an education improvement opportunity by unlocking
resources so they can be used differently and by re orienting the system around effectiveness and
efficiency (Petrilli Roza, 2011) One such alternative approach is the belief that intervening with a
student before identification of being in need of services can decrease expenditures for special
education services. IDEA 2004 part B regulations permit an LEA to use not more than 15% of these
funds on Early Intervening Services. This allocation comes with strict guidelines on how and for
whom the funds can be spent and these expenditures must be accurately reported. (Munson, 2014)
Districts have begun to implement ways to decrease referrals through early identification of those
students who may have challenges, addressing the challenges early on and avoiding the costly path of
special

Australian Curriculum
INTRODUCTION.
Curriculum is designed to develop successful learners. Confident and creative individuals and active
and informed citizens (MCEECDYA, 2008, p.13). In 2008, the Australian Government promised to
deliver a fair and equitable curriculum for the national s educational system, taking the task away from
the State and Local Governments. The purpose of this was to create an even level of education
throughout the country whether in Hobart of Cape York, and to ensure our nations position into the
21st century. This essay will demonstrate the Nation s curriculum, its structure and development ready
for its initial implementation in 2011.

VARIOUS DEFINITIONS OF CURRICULUM.
The origins of the word curriculum date back to ancient times and in fact the work comes from the
Latin word of currere: a course or race or to run (Smith, 1996,2000). Over many decades, people have
argued over the various definitions. Tanner (1980) defined it as the planned and guided learning
experiences and intended outcomes , whilst Pratt (1980) defined it as a written document describing
goals planned, objectives, content and evaluation. So s it a course of study? Or can it be defined as
content or a product( Marsh, 2008). Marsh (2008) goes on to include that at a variety of learning sites
are a set of objectives for student learning. We can also relate this to Tyler s objective curriculum
model being that the first step to curriculum is always to set the objective. The Model of Taba from
1962, is the same model at Tyler s but includes interaction and flow between all four stages, so we do
not always need the objective before we start writing the content to the curriculum.

Much Ado About Nothing Lies Analysis
Much Ado About Nothing Essay
Lying is complicated in that the effects of it vary based on the motivations and character of the one
who tells it. This is prominently displayed in William Shakespeare s play Much Ado About Nothing
with foil characters Don Pedro and Don John. Don Pedro is motivated by the idea of being a good
friend, and, as a result, his lies have a positive effect on those affected. In contrast, Don John, the play
s antagonist, is motivated by revenge to lie. When he lies, these falsehoods have negative
consequences, which mirror his intentions. Thus, foil characters Don Pedro and Don John illustrate
that lies motivated by good intent have positive effects while lies motivated with ill intent have
negative consequences.

Once Claudio and Beatrice start planning their wedding, Don Pedro tricks Benedick into thinking
Beatrice is in love with him, and vice versa. This lie is similar to the lie in which he uses deceit to get
Claudio and Hero together in the first place. Afterward, Benedick says to Beatrice: There is nothing in
the world I love as much as you. (V,iv,95) [1] Don Pedro s lie, in contrast to Don John s, has the rather
positive effect of Benedick and Beatrice falling in love. The positive effects of Don Pedro s trickery
mirrors his intentions helpful. In contrast, Don John tricks Claudio into thinking Hero is unfaithful the
night before their wedding, much like how he tricked Claudio into thinking Don Pedro took Hero for
himself. Because of this, Claudio accuses: She knows the heat of a luxurious bed. Her Blush is of
guiltiness, not modesty. (IV,i,35) Claudio publicly accuses Hero of adultery, one of the most heinous
crimes of the time, and, at least temporarily, ruins their relationship based on Don John s lie. Similar
to Don Pedro s example, the effect of the malicious act matches perfectly with Don John s evil
intentions and his meddling character. Claudio s extreme reaction to this news causes Beatrice to
emotionally manipulate Benedick into dueling Claudio for defaming Hero. Thus, the comedy suggests
that the aftermath of lying depends on the

A Brief Note On P2p Vs. P2p
4.1 Description:
A peer to peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources
without going through a separate server computer. A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection a
couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. Peer to peer (P2P)
networking is the networking between the same type of devices. Peers are equally privileged. P2P is
an alternative network model to that provided by traditional client server architecture. In a P2P
network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time.
Peer to peer (P2P) is a decentralized communications model in which each party has the same
capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Unlike the client/server model, in
which the client makes a service request and the server fulfills the request, the P2P network model
allows each node to function as both a client and server.
In a peer to peer (P2P) network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time.
Although a P2P network has a number of advantages over the traditional client server model in terms
of efficiency and fault tolerance, additional security threats can be introduced. Users and IT
administrators need to be aware of the risks from propagation of malicious code, the legality of
downloaded content, and vulnerabilities within peer to peer software. Security and preventative
measures should be implemented to protect from any potential leakage of

Misrepresentation Of Ares In Homer s Iliad
Misrepresentation of Ares in the Iliad
In the Iliad Homer paints an unfavorable picture of Ares one that does not necessarily agree with what
was believed in cult in ancient Greece. Many people treat this depiction of the god of war as the whole
truth about him, failing to realize that in cult, Ares was viewed as a more three dimensional deity.
Because of a lack of research, and a general disregard for the faith of the ancient Greek people in
favor of their impressive literature, Ares is viewed in a severely negative light by people in the modern
world. A main theme in the Iliad is the questioning of what war is really worth. It makes sense, then,
that the god who represents, in part, the bloodthirsty side of war would be treated negatively. ... Show

In a time where women had very little rights, he was referred to as Gynaikothoinas, meaning feasted
by the women. In plain English, this means that there was a part of his cult where only women
worshipped. This took place during a festival in Arkadia, and had an interesting backstory. The women
armed themselves and lay in ambush under the hill they call today Phylaktris (Sentry Hill ). When the
armies met and the men on either side were performing many remarkable exploits, the women, they
say, came on the scene and put the Lakedaemonians to flight. Marpessa, surnamed Khoira, surpassed,
they say, the other women in daring... The story goes on to say... that the women offered to Ares a
sacrifice of victory on their own account without the men, and gave to the men no share in the meat of
the victim. For this reason Ares got his surname. (Pausanias, Description of Greece 8.48) Thereafter,
this practice became a yearly festival, held by women and women alone. On this same line of
thinking, Ares is one of the only male deities that does not have a rape story attributed to him, as well
as one of the deities to protect a woman when she was raped. Consider the story of Alcippe, who is
one of his daughters. Knowing that her rapist was a son of Poseidon, he killed him anyway. Courts had

The Study Of Fermentas Coli Origame
In the current study domain III of PE was deleted and replaced by STXA, by the recombinant DNA
technology. STXA was transferred across the cell membrane using domain IIof PE. This domain
facilitates the internalization of extracellular compounds into the cytosol, and can translocate
heterologous molecules into the target cells(15). Then PE II and STX are connected to fragment
variable (Fv) domains of herceptin and create a (single chain) scFv immunotoxin(16).
Material and Method
1.1. Material and Reagent
Restriction enzyme was obtained from Fermentas Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. (Massachusetts,
USA). Bacterial strain (E. coli Origami B), SKBR3 and MCF 7 cell lines were purchased from Pasteur

construct synthesized by Biomatic company (Wilmington, USA).
1.3. transformation and Expression of recombinant protein
The synthetic scFv(herceptin) PE stxa chimeric gene was cloned in a pET28a expression vector.
Recombinant vector pET28a scFv(herceptin) stxa was digested by BamHI and xhoI restriction
enzymes and 1683 pb DNA sequence was obtained. Then recombinant vector pET28a was
transformed into E. coli strain BL21(DE3) by elcteroporation. The transformed colonies were cultured
in 5 mL of Lysogeny broth (LB) containing 20 mg/mL kanamicyn at 37 °C. When OD600 reached 0.6
0.8, 1 mM IPTG was added. The culture was incubated at 37 °C for 6 h. Then, the cells were collected
by centrifugation at 3,000×g/10 min. Then, expression of scFv(herceptin) stxa) chimeric construct was
analyzed by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). Different IPTG concentrations (0.5, 0.6,
0.8, and 1 mM), and various induction duration (2, 5, 7, 16 H), at two separate culture temperature (30

Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin Was An English
Born February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist. Best known
for his bold scientific approach in explaining transmutation or evolution, as it is recently termed, of
natural selection. Formulating his theory secretly from 1837 39, after returning aboard the HMS
Beagle from a voyage around the world. Charles Darwin published his evolution theory, in his book
entitled On the Origin of Species two decades after his return in 1959. Darwin s Evolutionary Theory
or Darwinism is considered to be the change in the genetic composition of a population during
successive generations, as a result of natural selection acting on the genetic variation among
individuals, and resulting in the development of new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others believe in Darwin s theory of natural selection, where it all started about five millions year ago.
It is said that there were once apes, different to the known species of the 20th century that advanced
genetically as time progressed. Beliefs are held that these apes or Hominines evolved becoming
bipedal causing them to walk up right, and their babies to be twisted and turned to pass through the
birth canal. Overtime their cognitive abilities allowed them to generate new ideas to build new tools
that also increased survival and reproduction. Darwin believed that humans, apes and chimpanzees all
share a common ancestry. The recent sequencing of the gorilla, chimpanzee and bonobo genomes
confirms that supposition and provides a clearer view of how we are connected: chimps and bonobos
in particular take pride of place as our nearest living relatives, sharing approximately 99 percent of our
DNA, with gorillas trailing at 98 percent (Wong, 2014). Fossil records today strengthen Darwin s
theory as results concluded that the phylogenic of species and ontogeny of humans evolved from an
organism known as the great ape or Hominid a large tailless primitive that lived 7 million years ago.
Darwin s theory of evolution contains some basic biological principles as it relates to natural selection
and contributes to survival, these includes:

The Pathophysiology Of Congestive Heart Failure
The Circulatory system is responsible for the transport and delivery of essential nutrients and
molecules required for proper cellular function including oxygen, proteins, and much more
(Silverthorn, 2013). The circulatory system also carries waste products to be excreted by the body by
other systems such as the urinary and respiratory system (Silverthorn, 2013). The main organ in the
circulatory system is the heart which will be concentrated on within this paper in order to understand
how the normal physiology of the heart relates to the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure,

The heart is able to do this thanks to the specialized cardiac muscle it contains. The contraction of the
heart displays excitatory contraction coupling (EC coupling) similar to skeletal muscles except the
action potential in the heart originates spontaneously at the peace maker of the heart (Silverthorn,
2013). Contraction happens when a rapid depolarization occurs due to the influx and opening of
sodium voltage gated channels to raise the membrane potential toward the threshold value causing a
firing of action potential. The conduction and cardiac cycle starts at a resting distol state for both
ventricles and atriums and is initiated with the depolarization at the SA node (Silverthorn, 2013). This
causes an action potential which moves rapidly towards the AV node where the signal gets slowed
down (Silverthorn, 2013).When the signal reaches this point it causes a contraction/systole stage of
the right and left atriums. This causes blood to be pumped into the ventricles through the AV valves
(Silverthorn, 2013). The action potential then travels to the ventricles down the bundle branches out
towards the Purkinje fibers (Silverthorn, 2013). In terms of the cardiac cycle an isovolumetric
contraction occurs during the pause of the signal at the AV node allowing the AV valves to close,
followed by ventricular systole where the ventricles expel blood into circulation (Silverthorn, 2013).
The final stage in the cardiac cycle occurs between stimulations of action potential when the ventricles
and atriums are in diastole and the chambers fill with blood once again (Silverthorn,

Politics Of Aruba
Aruba s first known inhabitant dates to 1000 A.D. The earliest known settlers were known as the
Caquetio Indians of the Arawak tribe from the South American mainland. During the Pre ceramic
Period of habitation (2500 BC 1000 AD), the Caquetio Indians, were accustomed to living in small
family groups, they were known as skilled fishermen with only the use of roughly flaked stones and
shell as tools, hunters, and gatherers. Their only way of survival was dependent on the sea along the
coast of Aruba at locations now known as Malmok and Palm Beach. During the late 15th century,
1499, an explorer by the name of Lonso de Ojeda claimed Aruba for the Spanish throne, naming the
island la isla de los gigantes in English meaning the island of giants. Soon the Spanish began the
process of enslavement and religious conversion, setting up garrisons and ranches on Aruba. By 1513

Speech On Smoking
A Breath of Fresh Air
Even after people know what these substances can and will do to their body, people keep taking it and
in the process, they slowly destroy their bodies every day just so they can feel good for some number
of hours. Some of those people get so addicted they lose jobs, friends, homes and even family
smoking these toxic chemicals. The smoke you put in your lungs starts to break down tissues there
and other body parts and can lead to serious or even fatal diseases. I could go all eternity without ever
smoking or doing any drugs of any kind and never be bothered about it.
Even teens who get dared to smoke at a party can really destroy their bodies. The harmful toxins break
down their bodies and causes diseases for them later in their life. Smoking causes 90% of deaths from
lung cancer, around 80% of deaths from COPD, and around 17% deaths from heart disease. Sadly,
most people don t realize the damage just one cigaret can have on your body. Every drag you take on
the cigaret raises you blood pressure and heart rate. Teenagers that smoke at the age of 15 are three
times more likely to die from cancer than someone who starts smoking in their mid 20s. For this
reason, smoking as a teen can permanently damage your body and smoking can even kill young adults
or give them intense diseases later on in their life.
If you have ever seen a long term smoker before and after their years of smoking, you ve seen first

A Report On The Industrial Energy Audit Essay
1. Methodology
The industrial energy audit may be divided into three main parts: the survey, the analysis and the
proposed measures. The expected result of the energy audit is a number of measures that will increase
the energy efficiency, switch from non renewable to renewable sources and decrease the energy use of
the company. The result is normally presented in a report. In the three parts of the audit we have
different tasks:
Energy survey What do we have?
Define the system boundary.
Identify unit processes.
Quantify energy supply.
Allocate energy use to different unit processes. Energy analysis How bad is the utilization of the
supplied energy? Where does it go wrong? How far can we reach?
Identify both system errors and detail problems.
Identify idling power and energy.
Identify technologies that are far from BAT (Best Available Technology).
Identify mismatching energy quality, where high quality energy is used for non demanding purposes,
for example, electricity for low temperature heating.
Identifying barriers and driving forces.
Sum up the potential for energy efficiency and conversion for the system as a whole.
Suggested measures What can we do about it? Identify possible solutions.
Calculate the impact of the solutions and analyze them. Calculate the economic impact.
Top down approach and iterative method
the energy audit is basically a project with the aim to suggest energy efficiency and conversion

The Life of Jesus
16 November 2015
Jesus the Author of the Old and the New Most assuredly, Jesus was not only the author of salvation
but also the author of history, mankind and creation alike. Many people see two different God?s of the
bible, the Old Testament God that enveloped justice and judgment of sin and the New Testament God
that embodied mercy, truth and grace. What many don?t realize is that both the New Testament and
Old Testament God are one in the same. The Jesus of the New Testament is the God of the Old

This is a picture of the way in which God the father and Jesus worked together through the power of
the spirit. All three are in unison with each other, God the father being the source, Jesus being the
spoken Word or Manifestation and the Holy Spirit being the power. Essentially, Jesus is the
spokesperson for the God family.
Going back to the Old Testament, any time God ?Spoke? it was in fact ?the Word? whom was
speaking the will of the Father. In first John 1:18 Jesus says ?No one has seen God at any time. The
only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the father, He has declared Him.? (nkjv). Here Jesus is
stating that He has been the one who has declared the father, Jesus is affirming Himself as the Word or
declaration of God the Father. In an article written by Erik Jones he states that ?He (Jesus) has always
been responsible for communication the will of the Father to human beings ? during Old Testament
and New Testament times. When Gods voice or revelation was given, it was through the Word who
became Jesus Christ or an angel. The father has never spoken directly with Human beings3?. What
this means is that anytime God the Father wanted to accomplish something He ?Spoke? it into being,
and anytime there was and exchange from the Father to creation or vice versa it all went through His
Word, or in other words, through Jesus.
It has been said before that if someone wants to know God that person must read His Word, or know
His Word. Well if Jesus is

Gov t Regulation in Private Sector
July 30, 2007
What are the key reasons for Government regulation of the private sector? In an economy there are
two sectors, the public and private. The private sector, by definition, is the part of a nation s economy
that isn t controlled by the government.(Investorwords). Several business organizations make up the
private sector with the three basic ones being sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.
Most are for profit and part of that profit goes to the government in the form of taxes. The private
sector can be referred to as a market. Markets operate by themselves and allocate resources efficiently,
but they re not perfect. Government regulation of the private sector is justified under two
circumstances: when flaws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fairness, a moral consideration, would be a reason for why a natural monopoly would be regulated.
For developing countries, their developmental objectives such as growth are very important. Natural
monopolies like electricity or telecommunications are crucial to a nation s infrastructure. Would an
unregulated private monopoly make the proper investments necessary to offer the good or service to
everyone today and in their country s needs overt time. If mishandled, an unregulated private
monopoly could easily slow the grow of a developing country.
Why do we need antitrust laws? The antitrust law prohibits non competitive behavior and unfair
business practices. The term antitrust was originally formulated to combat business trusts , now more
commonly known as cartels. A distinction between single firm and muti firm conduct is fundamental
to the structure of the U.S. antitrust law which Philop Areeda has pointed out, contains a basic
distinction between concerted and independent action. (Areeda) Some activities are subject to more
investigation, such as price fixing, bid rigging, geographic market allocation, and fraud. Consumer
protection laws are a part of the antitrust laws. They attempt to regulate some aspects of the
relationship between consumers and businesses. Antitrust laws are further seen in agreements of trade,
monopolization and attempted monopolization, anticompetitive mergers, and in tie in schemes.
Anticompetitive behavior are typical

Autobiographical Memory Analysis
Autobiographical memory is the memory of a person s life events and information (Fossati, 2013).
One process that affects the accuracy of memory is coherence. Although, coherence is essential to
maintain self esteem, self beliefs, and a stable sense of self (Conway, 2005). Individuals sometimes
desire super memory due to memory fallibility. There are people who have superior memories such as
individuals with Highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM). Unfortunately, possessing such a
memory comes with severe consequences, which renders super memory less appealing, especially as
memories have such a significant influence on the self (James, 1950).
Human memory can be changed, biased or even completely fabricated (Conway et al., 2004). ... Show

Studies of extreme violations of coherence show the vast importance of coherence to maintaining a
self that can operate effectively in the world (Conway, 2005). Baddeley et al (1996) reported cases
regarding hospitalised schizophrenics that illustrates this. In one case, a man truly believed he was a
famous rock guitarist despite knowing he could not play guitar. Another patient believed he was a
Russian chess grand master even though he could not speak Russian, nor had he been there, and he
was often beaten at the game by other patients. Furthermore, Downes and Mayes (1994) reported a
case regarding a man with a neuropsychological disorder. He was convinced he could remember
having a terrible argument with his father the day before, although, he could also remember attending
his father funeral years earlier.
Instances such as this highlight the importance of coherence to healthy individuals. Individuals with a
coherent self are more likely to have high self esteem, and increased well being (Csikzentmilhalkyi
and Baettie, 1979). Finally, when the self is in line with the past the individual can be effective,
achieve goals and relate to others (Bluck and Habermas,

Cultural Differences Between Chinese Culture And Western...
We live in a world that changes every day. The sapling grows into a towering tree. The thick trunk is

Sometimes these changes occur from a word or a scene.

The brains ability to interpret what we see can be affected in different ways through perception.
Learning about how our memories can become distorted plays an important part in helping understand
our brain. These facts are important to us because they teach us how these things can tie into
eyewitness testimonies, the way we perceive cuteness in animals and how the mind affects our stores
memories. To start, our minds can affect how memories are stored through perception. Your emotions
can also be a factor in how you remember things, Cheryl Clark states that memories include the
feelings you have when you saw something. So when trying to remember something your memory can
be distorted based on the emotion you were feeling at the time of the event. Dr. Loftus also states that

this issue would to have a psychologist or a expert testimony speak to the jury on how our memories

Jacques Piccard would be the first person to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, the deepest point on
the ocean floor. This diving bell, the Trieste, was his invention, but he had only gone down to five km
off the coast of Italy. Now he, and Lt. Don Walsh, had to go descend nearly eleven. What would take
minutes to fall in air took them five hours. Every ten meters, the pressure increased one atmosphere.
Leading biologists knew nothing could live in such harsh conditions. As they descended, the light
from above faded. They could still hear the surface, but knew as their spotlight turned on that soon all
sounds would cease. Nearly down, a crack shook them from their stupor. Nothing seemed to be
wrong, so they continued. When the submarine settled on the surface, it wasn t what they expected:
through the stirred up clay, they saw a flatfish and new species of shrimp, discoveries to be disputed
for years to come. But when Jacques Piccard and Lt. Walsh discovered a crack in the porthole, they
were forced to ascend after an only twenty minute stay. The continuing project of ocean exploration is
in a sense just beginning. Only 5% of the ocean floor has been explored, ... Show more content on

Submarines were the first fully sealed vehicles, before any space capsule. The Nordenfelt I, possibly
the first recognizable submarine, was made in 1885 (ScienceMag), capable of diving over 150 feet.
What was learned from them was directly applied to construction of our space program, and to this
day astronauts train underwater before they are sent to space. The first place we needed to work, but
couldn t survive was below the surface. Where we can t go, we send our tools: underwater robots were
the precursor to Curiosity, Spirit, and Opportunity. The first robot to reach Mars was the Sojourner, in
1997(Cool Cosmos). The first ROV, Remotely Operated underwater Vehicle, was POODLE, first

Medical Malpractice And Its Effects
Medical Malpractice and Its Effects According to the American Bar Association Medical malpractice
is defined as negligence committed by a professional health care provider a doctor, nurse, dentist,
technician, hospital or hospital worker whose performance of duties departs from a standard of
practice of those with similar training and experience, resulting in harm to a patient or patient s .
Medical malpractice makes it hard for physicians to do their job without having the fears of getting
sued. This can impact their judgment and distract them from getting their jobs done the right way.
When people think of medical malpractice they only see how it impacts the victim or the person who
is suing the doctor, but do they ever wonder how it affects the doctors and those who are in the
medical field? Do they think about how medical malpractice impacts the administration of proper
medicine? Now, this is the reason why society should care if our medical personnel are failing to do
their job or why you should it care collectively about a physician who was sued in the past, but won
the case? Medical malpractice doesn t only have negative effects on the patient. I understand that the
patient has to deal with emotional and/or physical distress as well. Their entire lives are uprooted and
they have to make a lot of adjustments as necessary. I am sympathetic to the families who are affected.
I feel the same for the affected physicians who have won their and

Clinical Judgement Analysis
Clinical Judgement in the Nursing Care of Pressure Ulcers Introduction Nurses use clinical judgement
each day when caring for patients. It is essential that nurses have an understanding of the problems
associated with each patient s disorder and possess the knowledge and skill to make concise decisions
that will help to deliver better quality care. According to Bussard, (2015) clinical judgement is defined
as, an interpretation or conclusion about patient s needs, concerns, or health problems, and/or the
decision to take action (or not), use to modify standard approaches, or improvise new ones as deemed
appropriate by the patient s response (p. 451). The writer chose clinical judgement in the care for
patients with pressure ulcers because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2011) investigated pressure ulcers behind and on the ear from the tubing when using oxygen therapy
and prone positioning during ventilation. Nurses and nursing professionals usually only concentrate on
pressure areas and preventive measures that occur on the lower parts of the body, and not the ear. An
increasing number of patients were experiencing major problems with ear ulcers. Even though the
Braden Scale can be used in care, it was not being utilized to grade ear pressure ulcers, neither were
there referrals for wound care until the areas were beyond healing. Nurses failed to make judgement in
the care about these ear ulcers and felt they did not warrant as much attention as pressure ulcers on
other parts of the body. The undesired outcome was an increased number of pressure ulcers and ear
surgeries or debriding. Nurses in some departments were cited for not using clinical judgement in
assessment, communication and care of the ear ulcers. The problem became costly for patients
families and the hospital. A research team was formed by the hospital to look at those at risk for ear
ulcers, what measures were instituted, and preventive strategies. Nurses from the Medical Surgical
units, and ICU along with other HCP came up with a tool for grading ear pressure ulcers called The
Turjanica Pressure Ulcer of the Ear Data Collection Tool (Turjanica et al., 2011, p. 244). Nurses used
the tool to judge whether or not the ear needed treatment and whether

The Era Of The 19th Century
Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires,
which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy
Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to
power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was
coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial
factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing,
steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances
in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope,
became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the
challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on
macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of
species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of
the Cell Theory.
One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and
formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of
disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his

Media Censorship around the World
Media censorship is not an unusual phenomenon around the world, as it has been disapproved by right
groups since ancient times. It had originated in ancient times when rulers and religious leaders
imposed limitation on the press, with an aim to stop them from spreading information which might
turn against them, and the activities conducted by them. Regardless of the differences in geographical
location, religion, culture and the tradition, the motive for censorship has remained the same. The
most widely used methods to control media are licensing and enacting laws which effectively restrict
the freedom of press. Countries like Syria, Zimbabwe and Vietnam have laws and regulations that
effectively limit the freedom of press and impose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(6) Once he has decided to cease a printing or publishing licence due to his subjective view, it is
deemed to be unquestionable and completely free from any action of the court. (7) For example, in
Persatuan Aliran Kesedaran Negara v. Minister of Home Affairs (8), Aliran sued the Minister for
refusing to give permission to produce its own Malay version publication. Ajaib Singh SCJ indicated
that the power of minister under s. 12(2) of the PPPA could not be challenged by the courts. Another
example is the case of Liew Ah Kim v. Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri(9). Rocket, which is the
Democratic Action Party s newspaper, is given annual licence with a condition that the newspaper can
only be viewed by insiders and not for the public. The minister was criticized on imposing such
condition, but the court held that the minister s decision to impose such condition based on his
subjective consideration was ultimate and conclusive, therefore, the court could not interfere into the
subject matter. However, the absolute power of the minister to reject on giving licence is being
provoked in the case between Home Affairs Ministry and Malaysiakini. While the Ministry refused to
issue licence to Malaysiakini, the High Court held that the Ministry has made inappropriate and
unreasonable decision, and the right to get a permit is a fundamental liberty . As a result, Malaysiakini
is allowed to produce daily press.(10). It

  • 2. Sport and Games in Literature and Radio Gatsby and Tom s Horse Race: Tom, Sloane, and a pretty woman arrived at Gatsby s house on horseback. As they were all about to leave, Gatsby urged them to stay for supper because he wanted to learn more about Tom. The lady enthusiastically asked Gatsby and Nick to go to supper at her house instead. Tom, on the contrary, did not want Gatsby to attend the dinner party and mockingly accused Gatsby of not owning a horse for Gatsby was far from elegant. To Tom s surprise, Gatsby did own a horse and he claimed it to be the fastest horse in the East. Gatsby would ride in the army and since then has grown very fond of horseback riding. Tom, being a professional polo player, believed he had a better horse and challenged Gatsby to a race. Gatsby accepted and they all rode to Tom s house where he had horse racing stadium. When they arrived, the stadium was already being filled in by the dozens and high bids began to get placed. The race began with a gun shot. Whoever pulled up in first out of 4 laps was the winner. Gatsby had a huge lead by the end of the first lap then Tom began to gain speed and they were neck and neck all through out the second and third lap. Finishing the fourth lap it appeared as if though Tom s horse felt a restraint and Gatsby pulled up easily and took the win. Wolsheim had made an appearance at the race so people began to accuse him of what happened to Tom s horse thinking he rigged the game The Fight of the Century: In 1921, a ... How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation during her present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of the animation is the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is an interesting way of using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are parts of the animation that switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and white to color to show time period. I find this concept very appealing and creative. are the growing tensions of the political climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal leaning family detained and then executed, and the background of the disastrous ... As a child there was protest going on against the Shah that was in power at that time. Marjane as a child is a very lively child that is frustrated by the current events being war and violence. By taking us through her life starting the flashback at childhood then though teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience on being an Iranian woman during this time. I did not know that women in Iran during the post war periods were treated so poorly by men in authority, I also did not know that alcohol was a forbidden beverage. I learned a lot through this animation by understanding what Marjane went through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a teenager was very entertaining to watch. Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot at punk concerts in Europe. Rhetoric can be easily explained as the ways in which signs influence people. As history goes on we see the rhetoric changes over time. Rhetoric has been studied for a countless number of years. The beginnings of rhetoric starts off in the roots of the Western World with the Greeks. Political rhetoric can date back to the days of the Greeks and the Romans. The Roman Republic relief on writing and letters to produce legislation for it s citizens. The printing press aloud for mass production of political news. The radio made political stories more intimate especially for the listeners at home. Television gave viewers an image of politics in action. Finally the internet brought the world together and made more aware of international news. Rhetoric has always been an essential to political communication for hundreds of years. Movies are not just clips that move and tell a story but, they are also clips that can move an audience. We need movies to open are eyes to the implication our our realities (Brummett, 6). Now we we focus on rhetoric and pop culture. We unknowingly witness rhetoric in everyday life. To first understand how rhetoric influences Lincoln films we must begin looking at one of the building blocks. Everything is a s sign in rhetoric. • 5. The Impact Of Technology On Technology Acceptance Introduction A range of studies has been conducted on instructional technology. Many findings show that technology has a significant contribution to the improvement in teachers competency and instruction effectiveness. However, not all applications of technology in the classroom lead to the desired goals. There are numerous constrains that may contribute to this. The level of technology acceptance is one of these factors. However, what influences technology acceptance among teachers? The article discusses a study conducted to determine the influence of gender on technology acceptance. This article is important to my research topic. Many research studies conducted in the past have focused on the impact of technology on the effectiveness of teaching or student learning. Few articles have focused on factors affecting technological adoption in learning facilities. These studies have found an improvement in learners scores on tests associated with content covered in technology assisted instructional packages. While the selection of suitable technology is the initial step, employment of the technology by teachers determines its effectiveness. The effectiveness factor of instructional technologies is often ignored. The reasoning is that teachers may be willing to utilize technology but may be influenced by other factors besides availability of necessary technology. The problem calls for research as educators need to proactively take such factors into consideration when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the harmful aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or simply fit in when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path, every student deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena Independent School District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015 the highest percentage of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority. Although minorities tend to have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established such as the Communities In Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an employee of this particular organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the Pasadena ISD. Regardless of all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work we put toward the program, it is no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program even though it is evident that students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most compared to other school districts. This is because there is not enough support from the administrators in the district and because those who distribute the grants deliberately decided to give it to another district. ... If a student is in need, this need does not change just because funding has decreased. The decline in federal monies supporting IDEA regulations, 40% federal funding when the law was crafted to the current contribution of 16.5%, (Shah, 2014) leave the state and local governments picking up the deficits to maintain effort. This law can create barriers if the effort being maintained is fruitless. Districts are continually looking for ways to overcome these barriers. These alternative approaches seek to turn the budgetary challenge into an education improvement opportunity by unlocking resources so they can be used differently and by re orienting the system around effectiveness and efficiency (Petrilli Roza, 2011) One such alternative approach is the belief that intervening with a student before identification of being in need of services can decrease expenditures for special education services. IDEA 2004 part B regulations permit an LEA to use not more than 15% of these funds on Early Intervening Services. This allocation comes with strict guidelines on how and for whom the funds can be spent and these expenditures must be accurately reported. Brady and Kennedy (2008) indicate the benefit of the national curriculum and common testing, stating, you can be confident that the test being done is pretty much the same test an aboriginal student will be doing in elsewhere in Australia. VARIOUS DEFINITIONS OF CURRICULUM. The origins of the word curriculum date back to ancient times and in fact the work comes from the Latin word of currere: a course or race or to run (Smith, 1996,2000). Over many decades, people have argued over the various definitions. Tanner (1980) defined it as the planned and guided learning experiences and intended outcomes , whilst Pratt (1980) defined it as a written document describing goals planned, objectives, content and evaluation. So s it a course of study? Or can it be defined as content or a product( Marsh, 2008). Marsh (2008) goes on to include that at a variety of learning sites are a set of objectives for student learning. We can also relate this to Tyler s objective curriculum model being that the first step to curriculum is always to set the objective. The Model of Taba from 1962, is the same model at Tyler s but includes interaction and flow between all four stages, so we do not always need the objective before we start writing the content to the curriculum. ... This is prominently displayed in William Shakespeare s play Much Ado About Nothing with foil characters Don Pedro and Don John. Don Pedro is motivated by the idea of being a good friend, and, as a result, his lies have a positive effect on those affected. In contrast, Don John, the play s antagonist, is motivated by revenge to lie. When he lies, these falsehoods have negative consequences, which mirror his intentions. A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection a couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. Peer to peer (P2P) networking is the networking between the same type of devices. Peers are equally privileged. P2P is an alternative network model to that provided by traditional client server architecture. In a P2P network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time. Peer to peer (P2P) is a decentralized communications model in which each party has the same capabilities and either party can initiate a communication session. Unlike the client/server model, in which the client makes a service request and the server fulfills the request, the P2P network model allows each node to function as both a client and server. In a peer to peer (P2P) network, every machine plays the role of client and server at the same time. Although a P2P network has a number of advantages over the traditional client server model in terms of efficiency and fault tolerance, additional security threats can be introduced. Misrepresentation Of Ares In Homer s Iliad Misrepresentation of Ares in the Iliad In the Iliad Homer paints an unfavorable picture of Ares one that does not necessarily agree with what was believed in cult in ancient Greece. Many people treat this depiction of the god of war as the whole truth about him, failing to realize that in cult, Ares was viewed as a more three dimensional deity. Because of a lack of research, and a general disregard for the faith of the ancient Greek people in favor of their impressive literature, Ares is viewed in a severely negative light by people in the modern world. The women armed themselves and lay in ambush under the hill they call today Phylaktris (Sentry Hill ). When the armies met and the men on either side were performing many remarkable exploits, the women, they say, came on the scene and put the Lakedaemonians to flight. Best known for his bold scientific approach in explaining transmutation or evolution, as it is recently termed, of natural selection. Formulating his theory secretly from 1837 39, after returning aboard the HMS Beagle from a voyage around the world. Charles Darwin published his evolution theory, in his book entitled On the Origin of Species two decades after his return in 1959. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others believe in Darwin s theory of natural selection, where it all started about five millions year ago. It is said that there were once apes, different to the known species of the 20th century that advanced genetically as time progressed. Beliefs are held that these apes or Hominines evolved becoming bipedal causing them to walk up right, and their babies to be twisted and turned to pass through the birth canal. Overtime their cognitive abilities allowed them to generate new ideas to build new tools that also increased survival and reproduction. Darwin believed that humans, apes and chimpanzees all share a common ancestry. The recent sequencing of the gorilla, chimpanzee and bonobo genomes confirms that supposition and provides a clearer view of how we are connected: chimps and bonobos in particular take pride of place as our nearest living relatives, sharing approximately 99 percent of our DNA, with gorillas trailing at 98 percent (Wong, 2014). Fossil records today strengthen Darwin s theory as results concluded that the phylogenic of species and ontogeny of humans evolved from an organism known as the great ape or Hominid a large tailless primitive that lived 7 million years ago. Darwin s theory of evolution contains some basic biological principles as it relates to natural selection and contributes to survival, these includes: 1. Variation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pathophysiology Of Congestive Heart Failure The Circulatory system is responsible for the transport and delivery of essential nutrients and molecules required for proper cellular function including oxygen, proteins, and much more (Silverthorn, 2013). The circulatory system also carries waste products to be excreted by the body by other systems such as the urinary and respiratory system (Silverthorn, 2013). The main organ in the circulatory system is the heart which will be concentrated on within this paper in order to understand how the normal physiology of the heart relates to the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure, The wall of the heart consists of many layers, the most internal being the endocardium these cells are simple squamous epithelium cells which are in direct contact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The heart is able to do this thanks to the specialized cardiac muscle it contains. The contraction of the heart displays excitatory contraction coupling (EC coupling) similar to skeletal muscles except the action potential in the heart originates spontaneously at the peace maker of the heart (Silverthorn, 2013). Contraction happens when a rapid depolarization occurs due to the influx and opening of sodium voltage gated channels to raise the membrane potential toward the threshold value causing a firing of action potential. The conduction and cardiac cycle starts at a resting distol state for both ventricles and atriums and is initiated with the depolarization at the SA node (Silverthorn, 2013). This causes an action potential which moves rapidly towards the AV node where the signal gets slowed down (Silverthorn, 2013).When the signal reaches this point it causes a contraction/systole stage of the right and left atriums. This causes blood to be pumped into the ventricles through the AV valves (Silverthorn, 2013). The action potential then travels to the ventricles down the bundle branches out towards the Purkinje fibers (Silverthorn, 2013). In terms of the cardiac cycle an isovolumetric contraction occurs during the pause of the signal at the AV node allowing the AV valves to close, followed by ventricular systole where the ventricles expel blood into circulation (Silverthorn, 2013). The final stage in the cardiac cycle occurs between stimulations of action potential when the ventricles and atriums are in diastole and the chambers fill with blood once again (Silverthorn, ... The expected result of the energy audit is a number of measures that will increase the energy efficiency, switch from non renewable to renewable sources and decrease the energy use of the company. The result is normally presented in a report. In the three parts of the audit we have different tasks: Energy survey What do we have? Define the system boundary. Identify unit processes. Quantify energy supply. Allocate energy use to different unit processes. Energy analysis How bad is the utilization of the supplied energy? Where does it go wrong? How far can we reach? Identify both system errors and detail problems. Identify idling power and energy. Identify technologies that are far from BAT (Best Available Technology). Identify mismatching energy quality, where high quality energy is used for non demanding purposes, for example, electricity for low temperature heating. Identifying barriers and driving forces. Sum up the potential for energy efficiency and conversion for the system as a whole. Suggested measures What can we do about it? Identify possible solutions. There are people who have superior memories such as individuals with Highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM). Unfortunately, possessing such a memory comes with severe consequences, which renders super memory less appealing, especially as memories have such a significant influence on the self (James, 1950). Baddeley et al (1996) reported cases regarding hospitalised schizophrenics that illustrates this. In one case, a man truly believed he was a famous rock guitarist despite knowing he could not play guitar. Another patient believed he was a Russian chess grand master even though he could not speak Russian, nor had he been there, and he was often beaten at the game by other patients. Furthermore, Downes and Mayes (1994) reported a case regarding a man with a neuropsychological disorder. He was convinced he could remember having a terrible argument with his father the day before, although, he could also remember attending his father funeral years earlier. (2011) investigated pressure ulcers behind and on the ear from the tubing when using oxygen therapy and prone positioning during ventilation. Nurses and nursing professionals usually only concentrate on pressure areas and preventive measures that occur on the lower parts of the body, and not the ear. An increasing number of patients were experiencing major problems with ear ulcers. Even though the Braden Scale can be used in care, it was not being utilized to grade ear pressure ulcers, neither were there referrals for wound care until the areas were beyond healing. Nurses failed to make judgement in the care about these ear ulcers and felt they did not warrant as much attention as pressure ulcers on other parts of the body. The undesired outcome was an increased number of pressure ulcers and ear surgeries or debriding. Nurses in some departments were cited for not using clinical judgement in assessment, communication and care of the ear ulcers. The problem became costly for patients families and the hospital. A research team was formed by the hospital to look at those at risk for ear ulcers, what measures were instituted, and preventive strategies. Nurses from the Medical Surgical units, and ICU along with other HCP came up with a tool for grading ear pressure ulcers called The Turjanica Pressure Ulcer of the Ear Data Collection Tool (Turjanica et al., 2011, p. 244). Nurses used the tool to judge whether or not the ear needed treatment and whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Era Of The 19th Century Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires, which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory. One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Media Censorship around the World Media censorship is not an unusual phenomenon around the world, as it has been disapproved by right groups since ancient times. It had originated in ancient times when rulers and religious leaders imposed limitation on the press, with an aim to stop them from spreading information which might turn against them, and the activities conducted by them. Regardless of the differences in geographical location, religion, culture and the tradition, the motive for censorship has remained the same. The most widely used methods to control media are licensing and enacting laws which effectively restrict the freedom of press. Countries like Syria, Zimbabwe and Vietnam have laws and regulations that effectively limit the freedom of press and impose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (6) Once he has decided to cease a printing or publishing licence due to his subjective view, it is deemed to be unquestionable and completely free from any action of the court. (7) For example, in Persatuan Aliran Kesedaran Negara v. Minister of Home Affairs (8), Aliran sued the Minister for refusing to give permission to produce its own Malay version publication. Ajaib Singh SCJ indicated that the power of minister under s. 12(2) of the PPPA could not be challenged by the courts. Another example is the case of Liew Ah Kim v. Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri(9). Rocket, which is the Democratic Action Party s newspaper, is given annual licence with a condition that the newspaper can only be viewed by insiders and not for the public. The minister was criticized on imposing such condition, but the court held that the minister s decision to impose such condition based on his subjective consideration was ultimate and conclusive, therefore, the court could not interfere into the subject matter. However, the absolute power of the minister to reject on giving licence is being provoked in the case between Home Affairs Ministry and Malaysiakini. While the Ministry refused to issue licence to Malaysiakini, the High Court held that the Ministry has made inappropriate and unreasonable decision, and the right to get a permit is a fundamental liberty . As a result, Malaysiakini is allowed to produce daily press.(10). It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
