VOLKSWAGEN IN INDIA
In just 4 years since Volkswagen (VW) set up its India operations, it had captured a 3.6% market share
something the Detroit giants had not been able to do after more than a decade in the country (Exhibit

magic of the original Beetle.
The group entered India in 2001 with Skoda. Its plant in Aurangabad assembled a few models of Audi
and
Volkswagen as well. Audi and Volkswagen were launched in India in 2004 and 2007, respectively. In
2010, a stateof the art production facility was set up at Chakan near Pune with an investment of Rs. 35
billion to manufacture Polo and Vento indigenously. The plant also manufactured Skoda Fabia and
Skoda Rapid as they were built on the Polo platform. Despite sharing common product platforms, the
three brands were distinctly positioned.
Skoda was positioned as less premium than VW which was positioned as more premium than even
Honda and
Toyota. Audi was positioned at par with BMW and Mercedes in the luxury category (see Exhibit 2 for
positioning of various players). While the group integrated the back end of technology, human
resource, and finance across the three brands, the front end of dealers was scrupulously kept separate.
Despite its careful planning, there existed an anomaly. Skoda was perceived to be a more up market
label than VW in
India. This was owing to Skoda s history in India. Skoda was launched in 2001 with the Octavia, a
premium car.

The Queen Victoria Research Paper
The Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen Victoria was born on May 24,
1819. Then, on June 28, 1838, she ascended to the English throne at the mere age of eighteen.
Through her reign she accomplished many feats, including but not limited to, surviving 7
assassinations throughout her reign, receiving the additional title of Empress of India on May 1876,
greatly impacted Britain s age of industrial expansion, economic progress and empire. During Victoria
s long reign, direct political power moved away from the sovereign. A series of Acts broadened the
social and economic base of the electorate. Despite this decline in the Sovereign s power, Victoria

Comparing Goldman And Reiner s The Princess Bride
Since the creation of Hollywood, every decade has had a handful of films that become timeless
classics which have a profound impact on our popular culture. The 1980s was a decade that released
several classics, including The Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future among many
others. One of the greatest pieces of cinema from the 1980s is The Princess Bride. This film is an
adaptation of William Goldman s novel and is directed by Rob Reiner. Goldman and Reiner made
several brilliant cinematic choices while making the film. These choices include casting actors that fit
the characters, developing a great fairy tale atmosphere, and balancing the action and comedy. The
choices that Goldman and Reiner made while creating the world of The Princess Bride lead the film to
become the cult classic it is today. One of the reasons that The Princess Bride ... Show more content

While writing the script, William Goldman crafted a perfect mix a humorous and dramatic moments.
The framed narrative technique provided several great conversations between the grandfather and
grandson. The scenes where Westley battles the kidnappers is an excellent example of how the action
is blended with comedy. While Westley dramatically sword fights with Inigo, there are several
hilarious moments such as when Inigo tosses his sword in the air. When Westley moves on to fight
Fezzik, he first simply punches the giant. Here it is amusing to see how his attacks do nothing to
Fezzik. Finally, he finishes his crusade with Vizzini. There is a dramatic moment when viewers are
lead to believe that Westley drank poison only to see Vizzini humorously fall over dead while
laughing. The scene where Count Rugen tortures Westley is also dramatic but has moments of comedy
when Rugen discusses the book he is writing. This blend of action and comedy ensures that there is
never a dull moment during the

Religion Vs. Self-interest in Robinson Crusoe, by Daniel...
This paper is an attempt to examine the seeming opposition of religion vs. self interest with respect to
the character of Robinson Crusoe. I will venture to demonstrate that in the novel, Defoe illustrates the
contradictions with which Crusoe must contend as he strives to please God while ensuring his own
survival in the world. In part, I will endeavor to show that a distorted sense of Puritanism as well as
the existing colonial mindset exacerbated this opposition, and resulted in what I propose to be Defoe s
(possibly retroactive) imposition of a religious justification for Crusoe s actions. Crusoe s journey in
the canoe exemplifies the reality of his life in that, although he longs to please and obey God, he must
also contend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance, therefore, it is shown that the ideal relationship with God contradicts his instinct. In a
way, the journey in the canoe in itself contradicts the idea of providence. The purpose of the journey
for Crusoe was to obtain more knowledge. Prior to this journey, however, he states Thus I liv d mighty
comfortably, my mind being entirely composed by resigning to the will of God, and throwing myself
wholly upon the disposal of his Providence. (108) Very shortly after this declaration of his submission
to Providence, when referring to his exploration of the island on foot, Crusoe says that the discoveries
I made in that little journey, made me very eager to see other parts of the coast; and now I had a boat, I
thought of nothing but sailing round the island. (109) As illustrated by the canoe journey, Defoe shows
us that Crusoe s longing for knowledge, and for more than what God s Providence has provided him,
almost costs him his life. Crusoe s island, like the Garden of Eden, provides for all his needs. He has
complete dominion over this island and all of its inhabitants; yet, he still longs to know the other parts
of the island. Like Adam, after his search for knowledge, Crusoe sleeps on the hard cold ground being
quite spent with the Labor and Fatigue of the Voyage. (Note that before the fall of man, labor was not
a source of fatigue.) Here Defoe reminds us that God punishes man who is not

The American Dream during the Time of the Imagist Movement
I, too, dislike it. Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it, after all, a
place for the genuine (Twentieth Cenutry 231). The time of the imagists was a time of change.
Sometimes that change was and other times it wasn t so good. They fought for freedom, refering to
African Americans and the fight for civil rights. They changed the rules on how to write. They even
made such a lasting impression that the way of writing continued past the time period and changed
into a style of writing to last the years. Although it was said to be created by one man, the idea actually
came from another who had brought the idea up before its time. It eventually reversed the fact that it
came about before it was ready and ended up lasting long after the era was declared over. Since the
literature was changing so was the mind set and it was directly related. This is where the American
Dream comes into play. The American Dream during the time of the Imagist Movement could be
represented by the way of life in that the people of the time were changing, not only in their writing,
but with how they were living in that they would fight for equality or be more focused on what was
real, and that sense of changing was solidified in the American Dream. The change during the Imagist
Movement was due to the new outlook on writing and how the literature was changing. This
movement spurred from the use of symbolism in the early twentieth century. This movement occured

Persian influence on the Islamic artist. The form of this art work is a rectangular rug made from wool

an illusion of a heavenly scene with beautiful flowers and leaves floating about what appears to be
water. There is a unique perspective within the carpet using two lamp shades that would appear from
the side that has the smaller lamp that the two are of the same size, but in reality one is much smaller

specific detail has been noted as if the designer purposely created a flaw because he believed that only
God could create perfection. The flowers and leaves about the blue background symbolizes the

it employs around ten percent of the total workforce in the UK as per UK Trade Investment, (2014).
However, time is crucial for the companies on high street, because of declining rate of profit. The

Illusion and Reality in Ryunoske Akutagawa´s In a Grove
Japanese writer Ryunoske Akutagawa makes it difficult to distinguish the differences between illusion
and reality. It suited his ironic taste to play the illusionist who leaves his audience staring blankly into
a mirror . We see this in Akutagawa story In a Grove because each of three main characters gives
conflicting confession, and each have a motivation to possibly lie. Tajomaru was the first of the three
main characters to confess, and throughout his confession he is motivated to establish a greater
reputation for himself knowing he has nothing to lose. Tajomaru willingly confesses to the police
commissioner that he was the one who murdered Takehiko. He later elevates himself to the same level
as the police commissioner. Am I the only one who kills people? You, you don t use your swords. You
kill people with your power, with your money. Sometimes you kill them on the pretext of working for
their good. It s true they don t bleed. They are in the best of health, but all the same you ve killed
them. It s hard to say who is a greater sinner, you or me . By elevating himself to the same status as
the commissioner he is making himself an equal to justify that both of them are murderers and that
they are the same. Tajomaru also told the police commissioner that he untied Takehiko before there
battle. I untied him and told him to cross sword . In this quote Tajomaru wants to be view as a fair and
honorable person. He further establishes his reputation when he described the

What Is The Difference Between Hinduism And Confucianism
Hinduism is a major religion in India as well as Nepal and a few other Asian countries. It has more
than 900 million followers throughout the world but interestingly, this religion has no single founder,
no single scripture and no single set of teachings that are uniformly believed and followed by all
Hindus. Hinduism is said to exist as a supreme being while both Buddhism and Confucianism are
based on the teachings of a man while Taoism revolves around a concept.1 (Kokemuller, J.) All of
them have similarities and differences to a great extent. Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism and it s
founder Gautama lived the life of a Hindu. Both religions share a few common features. Both
religions originated in the Asian sub continent, both religions believe in reincarnation and both believe
that there can be different paths taken to attain enlightenment. Both religions feel that we suffer from
our attachment to worldly things and people. Both religions believe in meditation and different forms
of yoga.5 (C. Lester, R, 1993) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Hinduism and Taoism believe that the individual goal of a person is to realize their self. Both
religions promote good health and vitality. In Hinduism the ultimate goal of a person is to achieve
unity with Brahman who is unnamable and likewise in Taoism the main goal in a person s life is to
work towards unifying with the Tao which is the same as being unified with the world.2
(Ramanan.)Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism are all eastern religions and, in fact, have
been practiced by millions and millions of people for many

14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay
The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000 military
job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000 positions
will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special operations
roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it
came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the
most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window?
Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights
include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed
beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell
inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than
the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to
also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time.
Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men doing the
double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically stronger. This
relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need to be changed for
it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies

Unhealthy Habits Causes Weight Gain Essay
My goal of this research proposal is to find out if unhealthy habits causes weight gain. Many of us
have heard the saying you are what you eat. Although hearing this many people do not take it for its
literal meaning. Also with many people having such a hectic and busy schedule we often times don t
pay attention to our diets. 2a. THEAORY A theory is an explanation for an event of phenomenon
occurring (Lecture notes, 2016). I believe that unhealthy diet habits can lead to weight gain. My
research proposal will be using the deductive model. It is the deductive model because my theory is
that unhealthy diet habits will cause weight gain. I will conduct a study and gather data. Once the data
is collected I will analyze it to see if it supports my theory. A hypothesis is an educated guess on how
events transpire (Maxfield Babbie, 2012). My hypothesis is that as unhealthy diet habits increase;
weight gain will then also increase. 2b. RESEARCH DESIGN A research design is the layout of a
study that shows the placement of all the components of the study (Lecture notes, 2016). This study
will use the classical version research design. The experimental group will first have a pretest
conducted, the stimulus will then be presented and then have a posttest conducted after. The control
group will have a pretest, but will not have a stimulus presented and then have a posttest conducted
after as well. Units of analysis is the content of what is going to be studied

Ice Hockey Vs. Roller Hockey Essay
Despite the fact that ice hockey and roller hockey both have the word hockey in common, there are
extreme differences between the two sports. There are the obvious differences like one being played
on ice and the other on a plastic surface, but many of the differences are only noticed by people that
have played both sports.
As everyone knows, ice hockey is played on ice, which makes it an extremely high paced game.
Unlike ice hockey, Roller hockey is played on a plastic floor that consists of many six inch by six inch
tiles. The plastic floor makes roller hockey a much slower paced game than ice hockey. The reason
that roller hockey is so much slower than ice hockey is because there is more friction. The friction is

An ice hockey game consists of five players and a goalie per team on the ice. Roller hockey however,
only has four players and a goalie. In ice hockey there are blue lines, which are approximately one
third of the way up the rink from each end. The blue lines are used to create zones on the ice surface.
If an offensive player enters the other team s defensive zone before the puck, the play is whistled dead
and it is called off sides. On the other hand in roller hockey, there are no such blue lines. Not having
blue lines makes the game much more wide open, which allows players to hang at the other team s
net, unlike ice hockey.
Another rule of ice hockey is icing, this is when a player shoots the puck from one end of the ice to the
other end and no one touches it. In roller hockey there is no rule for icing; instead players are allowed
to dump the puck from one end of the floor to the other. Both sports do enforce the same penalties
though. For example, both ice and roller hockey referees will call penalties for tripping, slashing,
roughing, etc.
Hockey does not only consist of players shooting the puck up and down the ice. There is more to
hockey than that. The most important aspect of the game is the player s mentality. Ice hockey and
roller hockey player s mentalities differ slightly. In ice hockey, players are told to stay in their
position. For example, a right winger is supposed to stay along the

Spartacus takes place during the first century BC, in the ancient roman empire. this empire has slid
into corruption and moral decay, extensively employing the work of slaves to carry out the lesser jobs
of society. these slaves are often mistreated, abused, exploited, and worked until death, as shown in
the opening scene where Spartacus s friend dies from work exhaustion. This opening scene takes place
in a Roman salt mine in the province of Libya, where a large group of slaves toil with pick and axe to
extract the precious mineral from the ground, and Roman soldiers guard, and abuse the slaves. the

time the gladiators are kept in poor conditions, more akin to a prisoners life than an athletes, however
some relief is given in the form of occasionally being allowed to sleep with a number of slave women.
One such women is Varinia who meets Spartacus one night, and instead of the performing the regular
sexual acts with one another, they form a friendship, which evolves into a bond born of love over the
course of their time at the school. When taunted by Batiatus over His situation with Varinia, Spartacus
shouts I m not an animal at him. Varinia, present at the time, quietly says neither am I . This exchange
of dialogue serves to show that the slaves, as a rule, considered themselves to be human beings,

Does An Image Really Mean Something By Fred R. Barnard
Analytical Essay: Does an Image Really Mean Something
Fred R. Barnard once said, One picture is worth a thousand words. Fred R. Barnard had memories,
which were captured through images that explained how he felt about certain experiences in life. An
image can be very helpful for individuals to capture the life experiences to reminisce later on.
Manipulation of the images leads to many different interpretations of it. Each individual will analyze
the same image in different ways based on their past experiences. The manipulation of the image
allows each individual to come up with their own unique meaning of an image and relate it to their
own experiences in life. Images can be manipulated and photoshopped in a way where it can mean
what an individual wants it to mean. We are in an era where manipulation of the images ... Show more

Now a day manipulation of the image makes it very difficult to point out what is real and what is

Christine Rosen on the Image Culture gave a very modest overview of how much images can mean to
the individual. She also talks about the positive as well as the negative aspects of images. The image
that I have chosen resembles determination and hard work. The image can explain how I had never
given up on hope to get a better life.
Christine Rosen on the Image Culture mentions, Americans love images. We love the democratizing

Killer Angels Essay
The Killer Angels
The Battle of Gettysburg brought the dueling North and South together to the small town of
Gettysburg and on the threshold of splitting the Union. Gettysburg was as close as the United States
got to Armageddon and The Killer Angels gives the full day to day account of the battle that shaped
America s future. Michael Shaara tells the story of the Battle of Gettysburg through the eyes of the
generals and men involved in the action of the battle. The historical account of the Battle of
Gettysburg gives the reader a chance to experience the battle personally and not the history book
manner taught in schools. A historical novel gives the facts straightforward and provides no
commentary by the people involved in history. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaara, through his commentary on General Lee, explains that Lee did not want to fight the war but
had to. Lee felt it was his duty to fight for his fellow countrymen, but not for a cause, land, or slavery.
So it was no cause and no country he fought for, no ideal and no justice. He fought for his people, for
the children, and the kin, and not even the land, because the land was worth the war, but the people
were, General Lee says (Shaara 263). General Lee fights for himself and has no choice but to fight,
knowing in the end that he might be wrong with his cause and pay the price someday. General Lee is
not a proponent of war, but he will serve his country with honor and duty if necessary.
A man of ideals and honor represent the character of Union Colonel Joshua Chamberlain. Being a man
of education, Chamberlain knows the demeaning and repulsive nature of slavery and has come to fight
to end it. Chamberlain hates the whole idea of the Civil War and the death and destruction that goes
along with it. I used my brother to plug a hole. Did it automatically as if he were expendable, says
Chamberlain (Shaara 304). He hates the idea that men, including his brother, are dying out in the fight
for slavery. The only reason he believes in the Civil War is that if he the North did not fight freedom
would be tarnished and a great travesty would occur. Chamberlain is not a man of war and blood and
doesn t relish war and its qualities. The idea of war in general to

The Life Of Medical School
My journey to medical school began after my junior year of college when I spent a summer
volunteering at a HIV/AIDS clinic and orphanage in Kpando, a small village in rural Ghana. The
orphanage was set up by the virtuous son of a tribal leader and a Peace Corp volunteer as a safe place
for the abandoned children of those plagued by the stigma of HIV. When I arrived to Kpando, I was
promptly informed to refrain from mentioning HIV to the staff or children. In this deeply superstitious
culture, HIV was not a disease to be treated but an affliction to be weary of, a damning punishment for
the sinful who must be avoided at all costs. Those who were known to be HIV+ and their families
were ostracized from society. They could not work, send ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began to note that many patients who arrived after us had been conspicuously called in before us.
When we were finally called, we were the only ones left. My demands to know why we had been
treated this way were met with silence. The physician asked Donkor a few questions, handed us a
prescription and directed us to the pharmacy where we could pick up his medications. On the way
back, I asked Donkor if he normally waited that long to get his medicine. He replied that he had not. I
asked him why they had made us wait for so long. He told me that because I was a foreigner, the
nurses assumed I was rich and expected me to give them some money for their trouble . I asked him
why he had not mentioned this to me before. He replied that he did not want me to pay them because I
had already done enough by accompanying him on this long journey. He continued, stating that he did
not want me to think the Ghanaian people were a bad people . His insight on the situation changed my
life. Donkor was a 10 year old boy with a life threatening disease that his society believed was a curse;
he had every reason in the world to be angry and feel like a victim. And yet he had more patience,
poise, and resilience than anyone I have ever met. He refused to think only of himself and to give into
the darkness of victimhood.
After leaving Ghana, I committed myself to a

Corporate Strategy and Project Management
41. Corporate Strategy and Project Management: the relationship between them and implications for
the management of an international project.
Introduction
This paper draws attention to the detached relationship between the corporate strategy and project
management. Solutions offered by various researchers to align both of them are discussed and
examine how they could be proposed for the management of international project, in particularly for
the construction industry.

Milosevic amp; Srivannaboon (2006) and numerous literature highlighted that the rift between project

The solution: bridging the gap between project to corporate strategy

My First Concert
When an individual asks What was a moment that has changed you forever , it can be extremely
difficult to answer. Such a broad question brings up many notable moments from an already large
selection. If I could pick one that makes me smile every time I look back onto it. It would be the first
concert I ever went to. It was not only my first time hearing my favorite band live, but it was also my
first time listening to live music. On top of the already intense experience, I had learned something
very important that day. Through the generosity of a very kind woman, I was able to experience my
very first concert. I learned that Generosity pushes beyond simple gestures and acts of kindness. It can
leave a lasting impression on any person, changing them for the better. Since then, reflecting on all the
moments that still bring many laughs and memories I made that day only assured me that I would
remember it forever. Fatefully, on a Friday night, the day before the concert, I was currently on the
computer at my house. I received a text around seven o clock at night. One of my friends had texted
me, saying that they were outside my house. As I went to the door, I saw that my friend, along with
five other people I knew were standing there. Want to go to a concert tomorrow? Alt J is playing one

Marx s Views On Capitalism
Capitalism was believed to be the answer to achieve an ideal society. Necessary for means to grow as
a society, a community, a population. This system was utilized to create technological advancements,
build networking, ensure equal rights for all owners, and improve the quality life. This was deemed to
be done through competition. Competition that consisted of individuals striving to be better than the
other. This left individuals with no choice but to compete with their neighbors, friends, and family.
Capitalism was supposedly believed to be virtuous for all, bringing the individual closer to self
actualization. However, as Karl Marx predicted, this system was, and still is, too good to be true.

The economic base of society is significant as it shapes the superstructure of society. Capitalism is an
unethical economic system that ultimately results to failure in blame of it s contradictions.
The opposition of claims or facts made within a certain situation is otherwise known to be a
contradiction. An analogy representing a contradiction is something being black and white at the same
time, as opposed to being grey. This generates a great deal of confusion to many. Capitalism is
consisted of bounteous contradictions, making it subsequent to disruption. In the foreground, the
fundamental contradiction of capitalism is ultimately between the opposing forces of social production
and capitalist appropriation of productions. Products are produced through social relations, in large
workshops and manufactories. A number of people are needed to create the whole of the product. As
well, each person has an assigned task to complete with the use of the owner s instruments of labour.
In addition, the proletariat in return receive minimum wages. As a result of the instruments of labour
belonging to the owner, the goods produced belong to the proprietor as well. The contradiction is
entirely illogical, as social means are expended to generate production, albeit the commodity belongs
to the individual capitalist, also known as the bourgeoisie. Equally significant, this system creates
inequality as the workers receive low income wages, while

The Iran Hostage Crisis
The late 20th century was a very turbulent time in American history. In 1976, Jimmy Carter was
elected to the presidency, and he had many goals to help better America. However, on November 4th,
1979, a group of radical students seized the United States embassy in Tehran, Iran. This completely
altered the course of American history and relations with the Middle East. This crisis had many
impacts on the United States. It caused the Energy Crisis which in turn caused the Recession of 1979.
The Iran Hostage Crisis also had political consequences for President Carter. It was a major factor that
contributed to him losing the election of 1980 to Ronald Reagan. Additionally, this crisis led to many
instances of racial discrimination toward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carter responded to the seizure of the embassy and the taking of hostages by applying diplomatic and
economic sanctions on Iran. Ten days after the start of the crisis, President Carter froze about $8
billion of Iranian assets. However, this did not rattle Khomeini, it empowered him. It was at this point
that it was realized that a solution to this crisis would be harder than anticipated. Ayatollah Khomeini
issued a set of demands in exchange for the hostages. First, the Shah must be returned to Iran to be put
on trial. Second, the U.S. needed to issue an apology for previous American actions, and third the U.S.
had to promise not to interfere in Iranian politics in the future. As expected, Carter did not comply
with these demands. He tried to work out diplomatic negotiations with Iran using a third party, but
those negotiations fell through (The Associated Press). President Carter was criticized heavily for not
doing more to resolve the Hostage Crisis. Since Carter saw that a diplomatic solution was not going to
come soon, he decided that the only way to solve the situation was by force. He employed a secret
operation known as Operation Eagle Claw. The plan was to land helicopters and planes outside of
Tehran, and then they would make their way to the embassy to rescue the hostages. However, the
mission was a complete failure; a dust storm caused a helicopter to crash into one of the planes, killing
eight service members.

Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity
In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths that
can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths
coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke.
There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist.
A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be
gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external
world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to
experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one
knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man.
By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world. If I
say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience of the
weather.
A necessary truth is a truth that could not be false, where a contingent truth is one that could be false.
If you could alter the universe in any possible way, the necessary truths will not change compared to
the contingent truths. The typical way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rapunzel Alternate Ending
Yes I know mother. She said with a slight roll of the eyes and turned her head. Even if she wasn t
allowed outside around others people or even watch shows about those around her age. Rapunzel was
still a teenager and did what most teenagers did from time to time, she rolled her eyes and often
ignored what her mother was telling her. It was just part of being a teenager. Not to mention Rapunzel
wanted to forget about the procedure until the day it came to happen. It was her way of dealing with
the whole thing. I just don t like it mother, though I understand why I have to go through with it. She
stated with a slight nod of the head. Turning to look at her mother once more. I know mother, I would
also hate to get sick. She stated with a nod, a soft smile forming at the corners of her lips. You d think
by now that Rapunzel would realize that Gothel was only ever really looking out for herself, but she
didn t. Rapunzel still believed that Gothel was doing what was best for her.
Hearing Gothel s question a laugh escaped her mouth, I d probably go mad. She stated with a slight no
of the head. The window was the only thing connecting her with the outside world, the only thing
keeping her of sound mind. Though if Rapunzel had grown up without the window she most likely
wouldn t know any different. Maybe she would even be asking about the outside world, maybe she
would have been frightened of it. The young blonde could never see herself frightened by it, a small
smile crossed her face as she stared at her mother.
Rapunzel noticed the shocked look that spread across Gothel s face when she mentioned wanting to
paint her. Her brow rose a little, her head tilted to the side. It was like her mother was hearing
something she d have never heard before. Though Rapunzel couldn t really blame here. If she didn t
know many people who could paint than that could be why she was so utterly shocked by Rapunzel.
Hearing Gothel s reply Rapunzel nodded her head in agreement with her. Gothel did always seem to
find away to make herself look stunning and beautiful all the time. Rapunzel often wondered how she
could do it. She never would believe that her bone marrow was the key to her mother s youthfulness.

Wright, the introduction of Superman into American cultural was brought about by the need of young
Americans to feel a connection with the common man . But instead, the connotation created by
Superman strays far away from the notion of an ordinary man. By allocating the name Superman, he is
connected to something that is god like and un human. Dennis Dooley and Gary Eagle present the
argument that Superman achieves truly mythic stature, interweaving a pattern of beliefs, literary
conventions and cultural traditions of the American people more powerfully and more accessibly than
any other cultural symbol of the 20th century. But this mythic stature created a culture that allowed its
followers to question nature and its power and allowed for the establishment of beliefs that were
detrimental to the natural order of the world. Even Steve Skelton, the author of The Gospel According
to the World s Greatest Superhero presents the fact there is a parallel between Superman and God.
Have Siegel and Shuster gone too far? The cultural and social superhero of Superman was one that
was intended to attract those who felt disconnected from the American world in which they lived. But,
as time would tell, this action figure would translate into an omnipotent entity. Although most
Americans look up to the Clark Kent disguised as his super self, there are several blurry implications
that remain at the surface of these comic books. By assuming the name Superman,

Lee Vs Grant
At the end of the Civil War, two great men found themselves in a bind. Robert E. Lee, commander of
the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, had a slew of wounded and malnourished soldiers, and
nothing to feed them. Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union Army, had resources to spare and
extended an offer of surrender in exchange for those rations. Lee accepted, and therefore forfeit the
Civil War to the Union Army. Throughout their four year struggle for victory, the two men underwent
many trials, and ultimately came to a consensus that the carnage had to come to an end. Although Lee
and Grant had drastically different approaches to the way they commanded their respective armies,
both went down in American History as heroes. Robert E. Lee was fanatic about the caliber of his
work and held those around him to extremely high standards, which led to his eventual downfall, and
decision to surrender at Appomattox. Throughout his life, Lee was noted as being incredibly dedicated

Overpopulation in India
Did you know that India is the second most populated country in the world? India s population rate
went up to 1.2 billion in past few years, which has a negative impact on the quality of life, lived in
India. The resources cannot sufficiently support the growing population. For example: as population
grows, we put much more demands on our resources to grow food and provide energy, but currently
energy production requires fossil fuels which contributes to pollution and global warming. This in turn
makes it harder to grow enough food to feed the growing population, which leads general public of
India to reduce their quality of life. In 2000 the Prime Minister of India is also giving a statement
relates to overpopulation, If the present rate of growth of our population remains unchecked , Said
India s Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, India will become the world s most populous country by
the mid dle of this century and essential requirement like drinking water, shelter, and health will
difficult to meet . Another problem, due the overpopulation, many people in India go to sleep on the
roads with an empty stomach. It happened because these people can t afford the food and land prices,
which caused by the overpopulation. For example, take a glance at Paul R. Ehrlich reading, The

The Theory Of Cognitive Approach On Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders (ED) are a real epidemic plaguing industrialized and developed societies, affecting
mostly adolescents and young adults (Benas Gibb 2011). In general, the flawed thinking of people
suffering from such diseases is characterized by an obsession with perfection of the body. The impact
that eating disorders have on women has always been more prevalent than on males. (Benas Gibb
2011; Polivy Herman 2002). The culture bound syndromes are constellations of signs and symptoms,
that are restricted to certain the cultural pressure to lose weight, which is considered a key element of
the etiology of these disorders, therefore, along with biological, psychological and family factors have
been generating an excessive preoccupation with the body, an abnormal fear of becoming fat and
anxiety markedly accompanied by changes in the body schema. These are therefore the characteristics
of Bulimia Nervosa (BN) and Anorexia Nervosa (AN). The following ten literature review attempt to
demonstrate and support the theory of cognitive approach on eating disorders, briefly understanding
the neurobiological mechanisms.
Eating Disorders are defined as deviations of eating behavior that can lead to extreme weight loss
(cachexia) or obesity, among other physical problems and disabilities. The main types of eating
disorders are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. These two diseases are closely related because
they represented some symptoms in common: a prevalent idea involving

Sexuality is a social identity that goes beyond the objectivity of the title and into the subjective scope
of the personal lives of individuals, which in turn fabricate the social constructivism of a nation.
Classism, heterosexism, and cisgenderism are further reinforced within the institutionalization of
heteronormativity, being the promotion of the gender binary and heterosexuality as the only valid form
of gender expression and sexual orientation. The normalization of this system is not enforced as

These American words which are typically used to further define and label individuals who do and do
not fall within the classifications of heteronormativity are used as the result of there being no cultural

in the Thai language further perpetuates the validation of heteronormativity as the only acceptable
form of relationships. The term men being used interchangeably with lesbian demonstrates how in the
Thai culture it is assumed and widely agreed that only men would be sexually attracted to women
(Sinnott, 2).
For Asian women, their sexuality has not only impacted their identity, that identity in itself has created
a power structure within each of these countries that has grown to include, but not outwardly accept
the sexual practices of marginalized groups of women. In Thailand specifically, it is made known that
homosexual behavior does not necessarily lead to an identity, nor does it necessarily constitute a
distinct transgression of sexual or gender norms , yet the secularization of queer women leads to class
divides, and sociocultural boundaries with the intention of exclusion (Sinnott, 3). Despite a vast array

The plant also manufactured Skoda Fabia and Skoda Rapid as they were built on the Polo platform. Despite sharing common product platforms, the three brands were distinctly positioned. Skoda was positioned as less premium than VW which was positioned as more premium than even Honda and Toyota. Audi was positioned at par with BMW and Mercedes in the luxury category (see Exhibit 2 for positioning of various players). While the group integrated the back end of technology, human resource, and finance across the three brands, the front end of dealers was scrupulously kept separate. • 5. Comparing Goldman And Reiner s The Princess Bride Since the creation of Hollywood, every decade has had a handful of films that become timeless classics which have a profound impact on our popular culture. The 1980s was a decade that released several classics, including The Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future among many others. One of the greatest pieces of cinema from the 1980s is The Princess Bride. This film is an adaptation of William Goldman s novel and is directed by Rob Reiner. Goldman and Reiner made several brilliant cinematic choices while making the film. These choices include casting actors that fit the characters, developing a great fairy tale atmosphere, and balancing the action and comedy. The choices that Goldman and Reiner made while creating the world of The Princess Bride lead the film to become the cult classic it is today. One of the reasons that The Princess Bride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While writing the script, William Goldman crafted a perfect mix a humorous and dramatic moments. The framed narrative technique provided several great conversations between the grandfather and grandson. The scenes where Westley battles the kidnappers is an excellent example of how the action is blended with comedy. While Westley dramatically sword fights with Inigo, there are several hilarious moments such as when Inigo tosses his sword in the air. When Westley moves on to fight Fezzik, he first simply punches the giant. Here it is amusing to see how his attacks do nothing to Fezzik. Finally, he finishes his crusade with Vizzini. There is a dramatic moment when viewers are lead to believe that Westley drank poison only to see Vizzini humorously fall over dead while laughing. The scene where Count Rugen tortures Westley is also dramatic but has moments of comedy when Rugen discusses the book he is writing. This blend of action and comedy ensures that there is never a dull moment during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Religion Vs. Self-interest in Robinson Crusoe, by Daniel... This paper is an attempt to examine the seeming opposition of religion vs. self interest with respect to the character of Robinson Crusoe. I will venture to demonstrate that in the novel, Defoe illustrates the contradictions with which Crusoe must contend as he strives to please God while ensuring his own survival in the world. In part, I will endeavor to show that a distorted sense of Puritanism as well as the existing colonial mindset exacerbated this opposition, and resulted in what I propose to be Defoe s (possibly retroactive) imposition of a religious justification for Crusoe s actions. Crusoe s journey in the canoe exemplifies the reality of his life in that, although he longs to please and obey God, he must also contend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this instance, therefore, it is shown that the ideal relationship with God contradicts his instinct. In a way, the journey in the canoe in itself contradicts the idea of providence. The purpose of the journey for Crusoe was to obtain more knowledge. Prior to this journey, however, he states Thus I liv d mighty comfortably, my mind being entirely composed by resigning to the will of God, and throwing myself wholly upon the disposal of his Providence. (108) Very shortly after this declaration of his submission to Providence, when referring to his exploration of the island on foot, Crusoe says that the discoveries I made in that little journey, made me very eager to see other parts of the coast; and now I had a boat, I thought of nothing but sailing round the island. (109) As illustrated by the canoe journey, Defoe shows us that Crusoe s longing for knowledge, and for more than what God s Providence has provided him, almost costs him his life. Crusoe s island, like the Garden of Eden, provides for all his needs. He has complete dominion over this island and all of its inhabitants; yet, he still longs to know the other parts of the island. Like Adam, after his search for knowledge, Crusoe sleeps on the hard cold ground being quite spent with the Labor and Fatigue of the Voyage. (Note that before the fall of man, labor was not a source of fatigue.) Here Defoe reminds us that God punishes man who is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The American Dream during the Time of the Imagist Movement I, too, dislike it. Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it, after all, a place for the genuine (Twentieth Cenutry 231). The time of the imagists was a time of change. Sometimes that change was and other times it wasn t so good. They fought for freedom, refering to African Americans and the fight for civil rights. They changed the rules on how to write. They even made such a lasting impression that the way of writing continued past the time period and changed into a style of writing to last the years. Although it was said to be created by one man, the idea actually came from another who had brought the idea up before its time. It eventually reversed the fact that it came about before it was ready and ended up lasting long after the era was declared over. Since the literature was changing so was the mind set and it was directly related. This is where the American Dream comes into play. The American Dream during the time of the Imagist Movement could be represented by the way of life in that the people of the time were changing, not only in their writing, but with how they were living in that they would fight for equality or be more focused on what was real, and that sense of changing was solidified in the American Dream. The change during the Imagist Movement was due to the new outlook on writing and how the literature was changing. This movement spurred from the use of symbolism in the early twentieth century. The subject of this art work is a medallion carpet from art of the Islamic world. This specific detail has been noted as if the designer purposely created a flaw because he believed that only God could create perfection. The flowers and leaves about the blue background symbolizes the heavens. The texture of this carpet would be a smooth wool texture. It suited his ironic taste to play the illusionist who leaves his audience staring blankly into a mirror . We see this in Akutagawa story In a Grove because each of three main characters gives conflicting confession, and each have a motivation to possibly lie. Tajomaru was the first of the three main characters to confess, and throughout his confession he is motivated to establish a greater reputation for himself knowing he has nothing to lose. Tajomaru willingly confesses to the police commissioner that he was the one who murdered Takehiko. He later elevates himself to the same level as the police commissioner. Am I the only one who kills people? You, you don t use your swords. You kill people with your power, with your money. Sometimes you kill them on the pretext of working for their good. It s true they don t bleed. They are in the best of health, but all the same you ve killed them. It s hard to say who is a greater sinner, you or me . By elevating himself to the same status as the commissioner he is making himself an equal to justify that both of them are murderers and that they are the same. It has more than 900 million followers throughout the world but interestingly, this religion has no single founder, no single scripture and no single set of teachings that are uniformly believed and followed by all Hindus. Hinduism is said to exist as a supreme being while both Buddhism and Confucianism are based on the teachings of a man while Taoism revolves around a concept.1 (Kokemuller, J.) All of them have similarities and differences to a great extent. Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism and it s founder Gautama lived the life of a Hindu. Both religions share a few common features. Both religions originated in the Asian sub continent, both religions believe in reincarnation and both believe that there can be different paths taken to attain enlightenment. • 13. 14000 Military Job Opportunities For Women Essay The Defense Department recently announced new policies that will open more than 14,000 military job opportunities to women. Which seems like a great step except that more than 200,000 positions will still remain exclusive to men, from front line infantry positions to high level special operations roles. States Dani Moritz from The Muse. (Mortiz) Women have been thrown out of spotlight when it came to genuine positions. Does this shout disparity for women, as well as stereotyping and it for the most part tosses women s rights ideal out of the window? Women began to climb the ladder and finally became equal to men, well almost. Women s rights include, but is not limited to positions that any man can hold, promotions that were not allowed beforehand last but not least socially and legal equality. As women, we can t continue to yell inequality when we are not on the same playing field as men. We, women, have more leverage than the men. Aspiring to be like men would require us to also go the same extra mile that the male has to also. Women s right is not for us to be equal while also being held on a pedestal at the same time. Equality goes both ways, it is for us, as well as men. The inequality of the military has men doing the double of what women do because they are seen as being mentally and physically stronger. This relates to the requirements of the military that they have in place which indeed need to be changed for it to be deemed as an equal service. This identifies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although hearing this many people do not take it for its literal meaning. Also with many people having such a hectic and busy schedule we often times don t pay attention to our diets. 2a. THEAORY A theory is an explanation for an event of phenomenon occurring (Lecture notes, 2016). I believe that unhealthy diet habits can lead to weight gain. My research proposal will be using the deductive model. It is the deductive model because my theory is that unhealthy diet habits will cause weight gain. I will conduct a study and gather data. Once the data is collected I will analyze it to see if it supports my theory. A hypothesis is an educated guess on how events transpire (Maxfield Babbie, 2012). My hypothesis is that as unhealthy diet habits increase; weight gain will then also increase. 2b. There are the obvious differences like one being played on ice and the other on a plastic surface, but many of the differences are only noticed by people that have played both sports. As everyone knows, ice hockey is played on ice, which makes it an extremely high paced game. Unlike ice hockey, Roller hockey is played on a plastic floor that consists of many six inch by six inch tiles. The plastic floor makes roller hockey a much slower paced game than ice hockey. An ice hockey game consists of five players and a goalie per team on the ice. Roller hockey however, only has four players and a goalie. In ice hockey there are blue lines, which are approximately one third of the way up the rink from each end. The blue lines are used to create zones on the ice surface. If an offensive player enters the other team s defensive zone before the puck, the play is whistled dead and it is called off sides. On the other hand in roller hockey, there are no such blue lines. Not having blue lines makes the game much more wide open, which allows players to hang at the other team s net, unlike ice hockey. Another rule of ice hockey is icing, this is when a player shoots the puck from one end of the ice to the other end and no one touches it. In roller hockey there is no rule for icing; instead players are allowed to dump the puck from one end of the floor to the other. Both sports do enforce the same penalties though. For example, both ice and roller hockey referees will call penalties for tripping, slashing, roughing, etc. Hockey does not only consist of players shooting the puck up and down the ice. There is more to hockey than that. The most important aspect of the game is the player s mentality. Ice hockey and roller hockey player s mentalities differ slightly. Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths that can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke. There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist. A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man. By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world. If I say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience of the weather. My Time Playing Grand Theft Aut As of now I have put in somewhere around 30 days of gameplay time into Grand Theft Auto 5 and am 29% away from completing everything thing in there is to do in the story mode. Putting that aside the world is a huge place that Rockstar Games has used to express an ambitious story that always made me want to play just one more mission . It is a stunning game with amazing graphics that can and does thing most people would think to be impossible to do on our current generation of hardware. The story mode in GTA 5 centers around three main characters. These American words which are typically used to further define and label individuals who do and do not fall within the classifications of heteronormativity are used as the result of there being no cultural explanation and validation for lesbian Thai women. The omittance of a translation for the term lesbian in the Thai language further perpetuates the validation of heteronormativity as the only acceptable form of relationships. The term men being used interchangeably with lesbian demonstrates how in the Thai culture it is assumed and widely agreed that only men would be sexually attracted to women (Sinnott, 2). For Asian women, their sexuality has not only impacted their identity, that identity in itself has created a power structure within each of these countries that has grown to include, but not outwardly accept the sexual practices of marginalized groups of women. In Thailand specifically, it is made known that homosexual behavior does not necessarily lead to an identity, nor does it necessarily constitute a distinct transgression of sexual or gender norms , yet the secularization of queer women leads to class divides, and sociocultural boundaries with the intention of exclusion (Sinnott, 3).
