Compare And Contrast Death Of A Salesman And Willy Loman
The Death of a Salesman written by Arthur Miller. A book about an old man whose occupation is
a salesman. The story takes place in Brooklyn Manhattan, in a nice quite neighborhood and the
main protagonists is named Willy Loman. Willy Loman main goal in life was to succeed and
make a name for himself but since he didn t achieve it, he passed on that dream to his two sons.
From Willy Loman point of view his second son did make a named out of himself but for his first
son, that dream of success didn t happened. Biff Loman is his name. The Long Journey into Night

Biff Loman and Jamie Tyrone are similar. These two characters are similar in failure, they never
made a named for themselves or lived up to their father s expectations. Certain people who have
read or will read The Death of a Salesman as well as Long Day s Journey into Night, will say that
the only similarity to these two characters is that they didn t lived up to their father s
expectations and those people are right but theirs more to it. Yes, they are similar in failure, but
they are also similar in how they became who they are. They are similar in what made them, or
the events that lead them to this point in their lives. The events that lead these two men to
become who they are, started at an early age in they re life. Biff Loman around his high school
years, everything was going great for him, nothing was the matter and he had his father s trusts
as well as his father belief. This all changed when Biff discovered that Willy has a mistress,
which strips him of faith in Willy ( Death of a Salesman : A Symposium). From that point on
Biff lost all respect for his father. Biff not only lost respect for his father but also lost the will to
continue his schoolwork. This is the event that made Biff failed math and that made him lose
hope on going to summer school to try to make up for it. How does this tie in with Jamie, well the
things is Jamie had respect and trust for his father. At one point in Jamie life s, Jamie look up to

The overwhelming difference is of course the fact that Fortnite is still in the process of peaking
while the other competitors have already watched their better days stroll by them, but not to worry
for other popular titles. Fortnite might not have established its plateau yet, but it s on the horizon as
there is bound to be some new gamethat gamers flock to in the coming months. Even so, this
streak of popularity will not go in vain as us gamers will always keep Fortnite on a pedestal for its

In This Paper I’M Gonna Be Talking About The 12 Stages
In this paper I m gonna be talking about the 12 stages of life development considering the main
points of each stage and the milestones. The stages I will be talking about is Pre birth which is
the stage of potential, Birth is the stage of Hope, Infancy (Ages 0 3) Vitality, Early Childhood
(Ages 3 6) Playfulness, Middle Childhood (Ages 6 8) Imagination, Late Childhood (Ages 9 11)

The third stage of labor happens after you baby has come out, when your womb contracts and
the placenta comes out through the vagina. Infancy is the stage or period of early childhood this
is where the kid is full of energy learning where to crawl, roll over and sit up and eventually how
to walk. Very basic skills are learned during through this period such as, coordination and the
ability to represent images and objects with words. A lot of the child s features also change
during this stage. Early Childhood is a stage in human development. It includes toddlerhood and
some time afterwards also this is where children play. However this is where language is learned
and being used, they take what is and they combine it with what is possible. Also this is the stage
where children become very curious asking Who? What? When? Where? And Why? Furthermore
this is when the child develops a huge imagination and a imaginary friends. Middle Childhood is
a time where where children develop their skills for building healthy social relationships with
other children or adults. Also this is the stage that will prepare them for later developments such
as Adolescence and Adulthood. Additionally this is where the sense of an inner subjective self

experiment we did six different tests. We tested powdered milk twice, eggs twice, and hair twice.
The steps of my experiment consists of first gathering the materials, we will then cook the two
proteins for until they are fully denatured. We will then record the information gathered in the
experiment. As we start cooking the eggs, we noticed that the egg white part of the egg will gain a
white hue. It will them become more solidified and denatured. Next, we moved onto testing the

Social Conflict In A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee...
The streetcar name desire: two contrasting Tennessee Williams productions show the need to
respect the text
The play a streetcar named desire written by an american playwright Tennessee Williams in 1984
caused the 180 degree shift in the treatment of social conflict in american theater.
After opening the first page of the play and being dragged inside the story, the readers are shown
that the play consist the perfect harmony of contrasts. The new and old era, men s superiority and
women s powerlessness are the main examples. With an extraordinary and yet stunningly interesting
plot line, Tennessee was able to create the characters where each consists various aspect of change
in america.
The original play script handles a depressing and stifling story about a woman name blanche who
s full of vanity and her hostile relationship with an abusive men name stanley. Blanche set an

status, her representation is all fake. Throughout the play, numerous and severe flaws of blanche s...

Blanche represents old america with romanticism, class importance, desire for cleanliness, being

having an masculine body, having stifling heat atmosphere and not valuing how he s represented.
Sexual tensions between them which are sparsely shown throughout the play portrays a big symbol
of the Tennessee intention of representing Stanley s masculine body being extremely attracting to
Blanche. The streetcar named desire therefore calls for a mixture of elegant and daring portrayal.
The way these features and quality lived and harmonized in the play in the direction done by a new

Current Situation Of The New World Project Coordinate...
Current situation
Virtually all transportation engineering firms today produce digital data for their designs, mostly
in the form of 2D files in either Microstation (.dgn) or Autocad (.dwg) format. These files represent
the plan layout, in the real world project coordinate system, of each discipline of work: roadway,
drainage, structure, electrical, communications, and so on. Some of the digital data represents other
views, such as profile, elevation, cross sections, and highly complex digital data contains non
graphic data such as coordinate geometry, templates, and networks. This digital design data isn t
new; it s been growing in use since the early 80 s and reached critical mass in the early 90 s
However, even with all of this digital data being created, the focus of the work is still on
producing traditional deliverables in the form of plans (also referred to as drawings) who s format
has changed very little since the blueprint was invented in the mid 1800 s.
Traditional Plans Are Analog Information
Traditional plans or drawings are analog information printed by referencing the underlying digital
information. The only means of interpreting them is by visual recognition (shape), scaling
(approximate distance), or by reading a callout (text and numbers). They are a mimicry of what past
technology caused the format of communication to be. However, even though the technology has
changed, the mimicry of past form stays the same, in much the same manner as an

Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story about a mother and two very different daughters set
in rural Georgia during the late 1960 s. The plot is centered around on the two daughters, Dee

two hand made quilts that are seen as a coveted trophy by Dee and are viewed as everyday items
Maggie. The final decision of which daughter ultimately receives the quilts will be made by
Momma Johnson. Momma, who is never given a first name in the story, is a strong black woman

I will be focusing this paper on the reasons why Maggie should be given the quilts, reasons why
Dee should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what
it means to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates
the practical value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her
grandmother, Maggie is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying
warm at night than as folk art which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her
simple minded sister come into full light during a conversation with Momma when her request
for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough
to put them the everyday use. I reckon she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em
long enough with nobody using em. I hope she will. (DiYanni 748) With little or no money
during tough times, poorer families have often had to be more self reliant where learning to sew
was a skill that was valued and passed down to the younger generation. Maggie embraced this skill
while her more ambitious sister did not see the value in learning such an ordinary task. She can
always make more, Momma said, Maggie knows how to

Andrew Carnegie Was Not A Hero
Imagine having all the money you want and still having a ton left over. Andrew Carnegie was a
poor boy who ended up becoming the richest man in america during 1901. He worked himself up
in the Pennsylvania Railroad company and would have been successful there but he was unclear
on what he wanted to do. So he decided to move to New York City where he met Henry Bessemer.
Bessemer taught him how to make steel, so then Carnegie moved back to Pittsburg and set up a
steel mill. There he became a steel king and it caused him to become extremely wealthy. A hero is
someone who has courage, integrity, and a concern for others. There were three reasons Andrew
Carnegiewas not a hero and they are he was a hypocrite, did not care about others, and caused
others to lose self respect.

libraries. Also in document D it talks about how people working in his steel mill were killed, and
was directly related to the violence within the steel mill. If Carnegie truly cared about these
people he would try to calm the violence in his mill, and he could stop being violent towards them
setting a better example. From not giving his workers their well earned money and setting an
example of violence Andrew Carnegie shows that he does not care about others. This shows that he
was not a hero because not caring about these people that worked for him showed through the death

Hippocampus Research Paper
The hippocampus is a small region of the brain that is associated with the limbic system (Mandal,
n.d). It can be found in the medial temporal lobe of the brain, beneath the cortical surface (Mandal,

Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay
Ibsen s Hedda Gabler portrays the societal roles of gender and sex through Hedda as a character
trying to break the status quo of gender relations within the Victorian era. The social conditions
and principles that Ibsen presents in Hedda Gabler are of crucial importance as they constitute the
molding and tempering forces which dictate the behavior of all the play s characters with each
character part of a tightly woven social fabric (Kildahl). Hedda is an example of perverted
femininity in a depraved society intent on sacrificing to its own self interest and the freedom and
individual expression of its members. It portrays Nineteenth Century unequal relationship problems

With no focus on Hedda s mother we can imagine that the general did little to prepare his
daughter for wifehood or motherhood. Hedda inherited his pride, coldness, and an authoritative
attitude toward others of a lower rank. She lacks compassion for weak and submissive
characters like Thea and Aunt Julia but has admiration for power and freedom, qualities she
finds in Brack and Lövborg. Even after marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and
guns, which signifies her desire for masculine control as well as her personal form of mourning
of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. This perverse behavior can be attributed greatly to
the era in which Hedda lives, because her choices are highly influenced by the male dominated
society. Hedda tears down everyone throughout the play, with Lövborg and Brack as the only
exception. After being born to a high standing family, her expectations of power are high, but due
to her biologic form as a woman she is trapped and unable to take control, because Hedda has
been imprisoned since girlhood by the bars of Victorian propriety, her emotional life has grown
turbulent and explosive (Embler). However, after succumbing to marriage with Tesman, whom
she only marries for money and respect, she loses her place in society as she, as a mere woman,
cannot retain it. This slowly unwinds Hedda and eventually leads her on to her fatal path. By

Comparing El Paso, Texas And London Essay
Imagine yourself moving to a different city. You have looked at all the cities you would most
likely move to and you have finally picked out that El Paso, Texas and London, England are your
two final choices. After narrowing down the options to two cities its important to look at
similarities and differences. Although El Paso, Texas and London, England are similar in their
cheap housing and exuberant job opportunities, they differ in their getaways, job opportunities,
and housing. El Paso and London are very similar in that the cities don t only offer housing at a
very affordable rate, but also have created ways to employ its citizens. The similarities between
the cities affordable homes is that both are using cheaper areas to reconstruct or build new
homes. This causes cheaper rent and mortgages. A similar way the cities are creating jobs is
through teaching skills. El Paso offers the Jobs Corps which provides a counselor to walk
students through steps in getting a job. London also offers a mentor to help guide employees
through the daily routines and requirements to get the job. The two similarities of the cities are
just a few, but there are differences as well. El Paso has many enjoyable adventures. Pamela

such as lack of enforcement of existing policies, unnecessary complexity, clogged

Managers and executives could recognize their company s weaknesses because SOX requires
publicly traded companies to be standardized. Section 302 explains the corporate responsibility

The Cultural Effects Of Child Abuse
The Cultural Effects of Child Abuse
In every nation in the world, children become victims of cruelty, abuse inflicted by their own
parents and the adults entrusted with their care. For a victim, this abuse is capable of creating an
unending cycle of injury, both physical and psychological. Unless the cycle is disrupted early on
in a victim s life, it can impede upon his or her likeliness to succeed and raise his or her own
children. Due to the fact that it is nearly impossible for victims of child abuse to come to terms with
abuse unless they are supported and trusted by not only their family but the other people around

society to prevent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after an abuser has left a child s life or a victim of abuse has grown up, they are still left
with the trauma influence of abuse, these effects never fully leave. That s why it s important to
create a safe place and help network for people suffering from abuse. Currently, many treatment
options are being explored and improved upon all across America, these treatments need to be
made more easily accessible and implemented not only in the United States but other countries and
continents as well. Manas K. Akmatov a German Epidemiologist who has written a plethora of

What Is The True Religion?
The realities of Congo rescued her from the mental enslavement of her father, Nathan Price. Nathan,
a Baptist evangelist journeyed with his four daughters and wife to the Belgian Congo with his
mission to save the unenlightened souls of the Congolese people. His aim was to accomplish this
through his strict biblical sanctions and his firm belief in his Christian faith. As a child who respects
their parents religion and belief, Leah was compassionate and genuine about her father s faith and

Nathan s quest to save the souls of the Congolese people was a very arduous task. He had to deal
with people who were of different faiths and beliefs. Nathan being rigid and insular to the

people. Instead, he imposed his doctrines unto them and demanding that they become Christians
and for them to believe that his religion is correct and that no other religion follows. This
egomaniac behavior was demonstrated during one of his encounter with Tata Ndu, the chief of
Kikango when he was told that the people of Congo were not Christians, Nathan was outraged
because he thought that they were committing an act of sin since they did not believe in Jesus

Compare And Contrast Cezanne And The Large Bathers

Avignon can considered inspired by Paul CГ©zanne s, The Large Bathers? Introduction To
understand the relationship between the above works and Cezanne s The Large Bathers it is
important to firstly understand the work which is deemed to be influential. Cezanne s painting is
certainly an influential piece. What makes this piece of particular fascination is not the subject but
the approach and style. This is not an image of privileged people at leisure being depicted in an
image of beauty and glamor. Instead, the people featured are misshapen and distorted. This is a long
departure from the classical idea of a nude. Another interesting feature that... Show more content on

The three paintings overall, have a significant part to play in the revolution of art. Making a
statement, portraying emotions and looking life while at the same time challenging how art can
be perceived. When these paintings were exhibited for the first time, they must have been
captivating, while at the same time as being an inspiration, the artists have also distanced
themselves from this work. As discussed previously The Large Bathers is not a vivid image of
beauty. Upon looking at the Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre we see that ultimate departure. My
interpretation is of this painting is that it is certainly a contrast with the bright colors while at the
same time also having a somewhat distorted view of reality and of the human form. This painting
was certainly significant in making a bold statement of the human form as well as of human
existence being viewed as being leisurely and indulgent. The second painting, could be seen as a
departure, just as discussed taking the dehumanization to a different level. The distortion is far
more angular and of course, as noted above, the background follows this distortion and further

Analysis Of Azfar Moin s The Lord Of Prayer
Azfar Moin started the chapter the lord of conjunction talking about the style of muslim kingship.
The Muslim kingship evolved in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and was in the memory of
Timur. Timur, A Barlas Turk of common birth, he rose from Central Asia to conquer territories in
Anatolia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, India, and Russia, and was on his way to subjugate China when he died.
Timerlane, a cruel conqueror who created destruction on a continent hadn t recovered from the
Mongol invasion. Timurwas honored as the charismatic Lord of Conjunction and a central object
of admiration for later Muslim sovereigns. Timur was idolized for centuries as a messianic figure
and appreciated widely both during his lifetime and for centuries afterwards, it is worth re
viewing and possibly challenging existing scholarship that appears to offer a simplistic portrayal
of a Muslim ruler whose claims to messianic kingship inspired many others after him. In direct
reference to Timur, Shanh Jahan called himself the second Lord of Conjunction , but Moin says
that this wasn t just a reference to Timur it was an attempt at mimesis. Moin explains that the two
Lords of Conjunction are shown in the opening folios sitting on thrones facing each other, as if one
is signifying the other. The Grand Accomplishment of the Second Lord of Conjunction
commissioned by Shah Jahan was a work on astronomy that Moin said suggests a deep ontological

one being used by many police chiefs all across the country. They believe that this approach to
management by sharing power and influence to individuals within the organization, who are
otherwise hierarchical unequal, will view their leadership as a leadership which looks at the
broader aspect of giving authority to employees which will allow them to make decisions, solve
problems, and be held accountable for their actions (Mussellwhite, 2007).
Whenever officers are empowered they become dedicated to their jobs. Because they are given the
skills, resources, authority, opportunity to be motivated and committed to their jobs, roles, or
duties. Something which is refers to as being dedicated. Employees empowerment in a police
department which delegate assignments, allow officers to take responsibility of their jobs results. It
also allows them to make decisions about it. When officers are delegated with responsibilities, it
makes them think in decision making, take control, behave, and take actions responsively, because
they know that they will be held accountable

Pros And Cons Of Circumcision
PRO OF CIRCUMSICION Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis. This
practice of male circumcision was started century ago by Jewish people as part of religious ritual
(Pillitteri, 2014). Today there is controversy with this practice. For this week s discussion, we are
going to concentrate on proponents of the practice. Male circumcision has been a practice in
various social groups in many countries around the world including Jewish people, Muslim, and
even citizens of the United Stated of America (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau, 2017). Culture and
religion have had a great impact on decision making regarding male circumcision. Many believe that
circumcision offers some medical health benefits, such as, the reduction of the risk of urinary tract
infection, protects against penile and cervical cancer, and decreases the incidence of sexual
transmitted disease. Patients report that circumcision improves sexual function and gives creativity
during intercourse. Some believe circumcision reduces the risk of paraphimosis which is when the
skin gets stuck behind the head of the penis. If paraphimosis is left... Show more content on

, Here in America this helps because patients do not have to endure the surgical removal of the
foreskin when they get older, and they run the risk of the most considerable complications (Pillitteri,
2014). The socioeconomic influences of male circumcision are becoming more common because of
the desire to be traditional in countries where the majority of boys are circumcised. Circumcision
has health benefits, and it would be helpful for circumcision to be accessible to parents. This can be
attained with health provider education. Today awareness of improved hygiene and lower risk of
infections through male circumcision have motivated the spread of circumcision practices in the
developing countries (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau,

The Epidemic Of Food Borne Illnesses
Epidemiologists, those who study the origins and causes of disease, have been monitoring the
epidemic of food borne illnesses since 1864 (CDC.int). According to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (heretofore refereed to as the CDC) approximately 1 in 6 Americans
(roughly 48 million) contract food poisoning every year. Of the infected, on average food borne
illness are responsible for 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths per year as reported in the
CDC s 2011 Emerging Infectious Diseases. The CDC has identified 250 diseases stemming from
from viruses, parasites, and bacteriaas well as chemical contamination which disseminates by
natural and manufactured chemicals or by toxins produced by microorganisms. In the onslaught of
food borne illnesses salmonelleosis and campylobacteriosis are the main culprits.
Affecting over 1.2 million people and causing 380 deaths per year in the United States alone,
salmonelleosis (commonly referred to as salmonella), is regarded as the most common food borne
disease. Common symptoms commence from 12 hours to three days after ingestion; severe cases
and those who are more prone to disease children, the elderly, and those with HIV/AIDs experience
fevers, diarrhea and vomiting due to the intestinal damaged triggered by the infection. Salmonella
invades the body and the resulting tissue damage releases chemicals into the blood stream that
trigger swelling and inflammation. AvrA temporarily stops salmonella from breaking apart

Finding Meaning in Albert Camus’ The Plague Essay
Finding Meaning in Albert Camus The Plague Socrates, a Greek philosopher, once said that the
unexamined life is not worth living (Apology 38b). Like Socrates, Albert Camus believed that a
man needs to live meaningfully. In his novel The Plague Camus creates characters who are forced
to think, reflect, and assume responsibility for living as they battle an epidemic of bubonic plague
that is ravaging the Algerian port of Oran. For ten months as the outbreak isolates the city from the
rest of the world, each of the citizens reacts in a unique way. Camus main characters undergo both
individual and social transformations. Dr. Bernard Rieux, the narrator and central character, is one
of the first people in Oran to recognize the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rieux believes that man has to do what is necessary while he is alive and must believe in
humanity: . . . Rieux was thinking it was only right that those whose desires are limited to man
and his humble yet formidable love should enter, if only now and then, into their reward (Camus
301). When the gates of Oran are opened, Rieux writes a chronicle of the plague hoping to teach
others a lesson. He wants them to witness the admirable qualities in men and the injustice they
endure. As a doctor he knows that the plague bacillus can lie dormant for long periods and then
resurface. Although man may never be the victor over the plague and the loss of life it inflicts,
he can better manage life s adversities in the future. Another important character is Raymond
Rambert, a Parisian journalist, who goes through a metamorphosis over the course of the
epidemic. He finds himself trapped in Oran when the gates of the city are closed. This
determined young man tries to escape in any way possible because he feels that Oran s
problems are none of his concern since he is an outsider. Rambert s appeals to the civil
authorities are unsuccessful. He asks Dr. Rieux to help his cause and is enraged when Rieux
refuses. He then offers money to smugglers for his escape. Later during an exchange Rieux tells
him: . . . for nothing in the world would I try to dissuade you from what you re going to do; it
seems to me absolutely right and proper.

Rhetor s Argument Analysis
Although convincing the audience that the rhetor is intelligent does not mean that they can be fully
trusted. An essential part of establishing ethos is assessing the rhetor s ethical appeal. This
approach appeals to the audience s ethical judgment, this can be in the form of a passionate
delivery or even a simple claim that matter is unjust (Jasinski, 2001). The rhetor fails to provide any
limitations or alternative evidence to the example studies given. There was a lack of mutual ground
for both sides of the argument, even though this was an advantage in persuading, the improper
approach caused questionable trust in the rhetor s work. Additionally, the rhetor establishes

Persia And Greeks Compare And Contrast
Greece, which lasted from 480 BCE to 323 BCE and Persia, which stood standing from 550 BCE to
330 BCE, were two empires that flourished for centuries. Although they both had victorious
moments throughout their existence, they were constantly in battle with each other. These wars
lasted for hundreds of years. The casualties were plentiful but these fights often helped their cultures
spread throughout the lands. Even though Greeceand Persia had contrasting religious beliefs and
social rankings, they both thought the powerful tasks belonged to the men, not women. The Greeks
and Persians had different religious views. The Greeks were polytheistic, as they believed in more

This made the Greeks feel closer with the gods since the gods took lives as well. Other times, the
Greeks would just offer petite cakes or cups of wine. Lastly, when the Greeks wanted advice or
to know information about the future, they would visit oracle soracles; holy places where
humans could interact with the gods. The most popular oracle was that of Apollo in Delphi.
People would bring presents to Apollo and he would answer their questions through a separate
female, the Pythia. The Greeks would use this chance to communicate with the gods to prepare
for the future. On the other hand, the Persians followed a single god, Ahuramazda the god of
Zoroastrianism. The specific birthplace of this religion is a bit unclear; but since the founder,
Zoroaster, was from the eastern part of Iran, we can guess that this is where it all started.
Zoroaster believed that Ahuramazda, also known as the wise lord , made the world we all know.

However, the result of the Seven Years War, which took place between 1754 and 1765, sparked the

Specifically, the Seven Years War left both Britain and France burdened with economic debts. Since
the debts was estimated by the European financial system that centered in Netherland, British s
neutrality with other European neighbors aroused tensions. In addition, the elimination of France
from Canada also created new conflict between French citizens and Americans, who now on
British s side. Therefore, as a great empire, Britain became suspicious of all its European neighbors.
This fear was justified after France, which recently got eliminated from Canada, determined on
humbling Britain to satisfy its pride and to restore its economy in Europe. Thus, this triggered
Britain to start economic competition with France in Europe. Since there were limited resources,
Britain chose to tax the colonists to tighten its administration in North America. The Parliament said
that, The cost of administering the North American colonies alone rose to $135,000 a year in 1763
five times what it had cost in 1756 . With the debt of the Seven Year War and many others from

say that they felt threatened, but if not for viral video; the murder could have been swept under
the rug. He also says there is a blanket of distrust, disrespect, and indifference thrown across
Black men in America. He believes that this is the result of the many deaths at the hands of

Developing Your Professional Identity Is Good For Any...
Developing your Professional Identity
An effective professional identity is good for any profession, especially a counseling profession.
When a person develops a professional identity it says who they are and what they stand for in that
profession. It also says they know about that profession and could tell another anything they would
like to know about that profession. When a person knows about there profession they can answer
any questions they have about that profession.
In this paper the author will discuss the difference between two of the specializations of the
counseling discipline. Then this paper will discuss how to use the terms wellness, resilience, and
prevention in a counseling discipline. In this paper the author will discuss how the licensure plays a
role in being a counselor. This paper will also discuss the issues of, how certain associations can
help ones professional identity, how to continue the professional development of counselors, and
how technology can play an impact on the counseling profession.
Differences in Two Counseling Specializations The first specialization this author would like to
discuss is mental health counseling (MHC). MHC is a specialization that stresses: developmental,
preventive, and educational as well as remedial aspects of mental health care (Smith Robinson,
1995, p. 158). Some also consider this profession a hybrid and it has an uncomfortable connection
between the professions of psychology and educational counseling.

What A Strange Genre Of Painting Still Life
Still life
What a strange genre of painting still life is: it makes people admire a copy of those things that we

Indeed, though at the first sight some still lives may not seem to convey great ideas to the viewers,

She too, experienced profound sorrows. She was maltreated at a young age and was abused by the
family her mother entrusted. However, she was relieved when Valjean rescued her and was even in
bliss when she found her true love Marius.
Anyways, another character that completes the essence of the story is Inspector Javert, the stalker .
He spent most of his life wandering everywhere just to capture Jean Valjean. He s so pathetic that
he became obsessed with it. Somehow, we can say that he won, because he found what he s
looking for. But, in the end, he still loses. He failed his life, because he can t accept the fact that
the person he hated so much saved him at the peak of his misfortune.
This story entails a lot of things that we must consider and reconsider. Such things like injustices
and discriminations, which I believe is still rampant nowadays. It also point out, that no matter
how chary and confidently we hide our past life, there comes a time, where it will all be revealed
in the eyes of many and when that moment comes, we must have the assurance that we are ready.
Also, we must bear in mind that no matter how bad a person is, there s always that goodness that lies

The Massacre Of The Innocents Analysis
The Massacre of the innocents gives the viewer a glimpse into the life and artistic journey of
Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are
reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration
from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One
can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that
he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10)
The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King
Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the
dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like
many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full
spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some
dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or
trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1).
Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van
Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most
profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. The early works of Rubens were heavily
influenced by the works of Van Veen and Renaissance

Analysis Of The Book The Of Lakeview Park
Having realized he dropped his smart phone somewhere in the vast flora of Lakeview park, Julian
was berating himself. Not only did he face the daunting terrain, it was getting dark very fast. Not
willing to give up his smart phone to the wild or the darkness Julian prepared for the worst. He
grabbed a flashlight, knife, a small bottle of oleoresin capsaicin spray and asked his mother to
drive him, two accidents left Julian unable to drive, his mind is left unable to focus under the
effects of the drugs prescribed to help him with his symptoms. The drive to Lakeview park was
surreal, what was once a veritable paradise during the day became a place of nightmares at night.
Beautiful oak trees twisted into dark phantasms. Julian left his Mother Julie behind in case he
didn t come back in half an hour. Julian knew the terrain well even at night he was able to retrace
his steps. The first place where the phone might be was a small bog by the freeway. During his
long walk he heard men in the darkness, Julian knew there were many homeless who stayed at the
park at night unwilling to be noticed he turned off the small L.E.D. flashlight and blended in with
the darkness silently yet quickly moving through Lakeview park. Once he got to the swampy bog
he started calling his missing phone from another cell hoping to hear it ring through the darkness.
Getting nowhere he began to make his way south, but then Julian lost his balance on the mire and
fell right on his tailbone then his back

Abstract This paper will be discussing the cosplay, or costume play, subculture. In this paper, it

The first is to show adoration for a character, or they pick one that they have matching
personalities with, hoping to become that character or at least close to it. A few major
characteristics of this type of cosplayer may be an enthusiastic attitude and the tendency to pay
less attention to detail and quality. Such cosplayers are also known to criticize other cosplayers for
not having a full knowledge of their character, or not also adopting character personality. This can
cause a lot of conflict between cosplayers. (Cosplay, 2012) The second is those people who enjoy
the attention that cosplaying a certain character brings. They have to dress as the most popular
character so they can have the most attention. Within the cultures of anime and manga specifically,
there is a certain level of dishonor that is attached to cosplayers with this type of attitude. Such
cosplayers are usually characterized by paying close attention to detail in their garments and their
choice of popular characters. They are also noted by participation in cosplay competitions.
(Cosplay, 2012) The third category is those who enjoy the creative process, and the sense of
personal achievement upon completion of the costume and character details. Such people are more
likely to have a greater budget dedicated to the costumes, more complicated and better quality
outfits with access to more materials. They are also more

Worm Lab Report
Title: The Effect of Nicotine on the Heart Rate of the Lumbriculus Variegatus
Introduction:
Background This lab is being done to demonstrate the effects of stimulants on the circulatory
system of blackworms. In this lab, the stimulant we have chosen to use is Nicotine. A stimulant is
an agent that causes increased activity, especially in the nervous or cardiovascular systems. In this
lab, we will put blackworms into the Nicotine to look at the differences in pulse rates when
compared to a control. The proper name for blackworms is Lumbriculus Variegatus, they are
freshwater worms most commonly found in North America and Europe. The blood in blackworms
circulates from the dorsal blood vessel toward the head through a series of ... Show more content on

Mean 15.4, Median 15
Table 1 shows the heart rates of worms in the control, their average heart rate is at 10.7 pulse
/min. Table 2 shows the worms in the 2.5mL of Nicotine which proved to be too strong. Table 3
shows the heart rates of worms in the diluted solution of 2.5mL Nicotine and 1mL H2O. Table 3
shows that the heart rate of worms is faster in the nicotine with the average pulse rate at 15.5 pulse
/min.
This table shows the data for the 15 control worms in water and then the same 15 in Nicotine.
There are not 15 worms in the nicotine solution because our first solution was too strong and 6 of
the worms died. The solution being used in this graph is 2.5 mL of Nicotine and 1 mL H20. This
graph shows that the pulse rates of worms in Nicotine tend to be higher than that of the worms in
water. This data proves the idea that stimulants raise heart rate.

Breast Cancer Research Paper
Most people know at least one person who currently has or has had breast cancer at one point.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers there are, affecting 1 in 8 women at some point

tumor is a group of cells that can spread to other parts of the body. Although breast canceris mostly
in women, men can get breast cancertoo. There is no true known reason why women get cancer,
but there are several scenarios that can increase the risk of getting breast cancer, most genetic and

One treatment is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells but can cause side
effects of nausea, hair loss, early menopause, hot flashes, fatigue and temporarily lower blood
counts. Another treatment is hormone therapy. Hormone Therapy prevents hormones, especially
estrogen, from helping cancerous cells in the breast grow and spread. A third treatment,
biological therapy, uses the immune system to destroy the cancer cells. The survival rate for
breast cancer depends on how early the cancer is caught. If caught before cancer forms or in
Stage 1 of breast cancer, the survival rate is guaranteed, one hundred percent. Stage 2 survival
dips a little bit to 93%. If caught in Stage 3 the survival rate is still pretty good at 73%. But if a
woman makes it to Stage 4 breast cancer, her survival rate plummets to 22%. In 2015 alone,
there is projected to be about 231,000 new cases of breast cancer, with a projected 40,000 dying.
Studies show that about 1 in 8 women will experience some form or stage of breast cancer in their

the group of metals that includes platinum. Custom men s jewelry made from this nearly
indestructible metal will last for decades without scratching or need of polishing. Learn more
about palladium wedding bands and other mens jewelry below. It Was For Men First We usually
associate jewelry with women particularly necklaces and bracelets. It is very likely however that
men s jewelry existed before women began adorning themselves. Custom men s jewelry existed
during the Stone Age over a thousand centuries ago; Ice Age hunters often wore necklaces made
from the teeth, claws and/or bones of animals which they had killed for the tribe to eat. Among
North American Indians, women s and men s jewelry served a dual purpose: dentalia, or
wampum shells worn around the neck also served as currency. Today, palladium wedding bands
are the latest thing in men s jewelry, but hardly the only thing. Men s watches (including dive
watches for the undersea adventurer), movado gold watches and tungsten carbide wedding rings
are just some of what is available. About Mens Watches Pocket watches are certainly the epitome
of masculinity, but are rather dated and not all that convenient, since a fob chain is usually
required. Movado gold watches, made by a Swiss company that is practically the final

Marina Vs Ostia
I have never given the use of land much thought. I imagine, before civilization there was really
nothing besides wilderness. Now things have changed drastically. The establishment of colonies
has fostered the creation of distinct buildings purposed to serve different functions. From
commercial purposes to something as simple and as essential as shelter, these buildings have
been created to accommodate a targeted group of individuals, for not everybody has access to all
of these services. There has been an ongoing discourse of whether the use of land is determined
chronologically, culturally, or perhaps by some other factor. Of course, this varies from cityto city.
When comparing Region V of Ostia to the city of Marina in California it is quite captivating how
although very different a modern place like Marina is very similar to an ancient one like Ostia
when it comes to the distribution of space. Such similarities may have to do with a shared culture,
that of warfare.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
and a map of Marina, California side by side what differentiates them the most is how a great deal
of space in Marina is allocated to entertainment facilities whereas shops and workshops seems to
have occupied most of the space in Ostia, Region V. This means that modern cities seem to revolve
around the world of entertainment while ancient places seemed to have been more focused on the
selling of goods rather than that of services. Such phenomena can be due to the demands of the
people habituating the places or to the desires of those who created the buildings. In brevity, the
shifting of peoples desires from wanting to buy things to wanting to be entertained might be the
main source of the differences between these two

Persepolis Satire
French philosopher Jean Baudrillard spoke: the world is not dialectical it is sworn to extremes,
not to equilibrium, sworn to radical antagonism, not to reconciliation or synthesis. This is also the
principle of evil. In Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis, the events and effects of the Islamic Revolution
are portrayed; what is most notable, however, are the steps taken to portray Satrapi s personal
position. In her graphic text, she illustrates her work with a sharp blackand whitecontrast, utilized to
portray a variety of themes. How can one s perspective filter the way they view the world around
them? That question is what Satrapi challenges with Persepolis, which distinguishes her work.
Through the black and white scheme, Persepolis illustrates political and social extremism; a lack
of gray area between opposing sides of political warfare, especially from a victim s perspective.
A child s innocence is portrayed by the black and white scheme, as well as the book s formatting,
in an attempt to both politicize the surroundings of Satrapi and humanize her existence as a regular
youth who conversely resulted in being victimized by war. Persepolis additionally has an aimed
exclusion of colorthat directly refutes those who ostracize and discriminate against Iranian people.
Firstly, Persepolis utilizes its black and white color scheme to allow the author to be immersed in
the reality of the setting shown by the portrayal of the Islamic revolution; the sole existence of

Commentary On The Book Oh Yeah, Audrey ! By Shaw
In Oh Yeah, Audrey!, published in 2014 by Amulet Books, Shaw tells the story of Gemma
Beasley, who sneaks away to New York City to meet with some friends and celebrate the life of
Audrey Hepburn. He is able to create an entire novel that takes place in the span of 26 hours
using the times of the day as the individual chapters. This is important because Gemma puts
together an itinerary for the weekend but throughout the story, different problems arise which
causes them to keep changing their schedule. It is revealed in the beginning that Gemma co
owns the blog, Oh Yeah, Audrey!, with her Internet friends, Bryan and Trina. They decide to
finally meet in person for the first time in New York City. They make it to breakfast on time,
which was scheduled for 7 a.m. and plan on going to all the Breakfast at Tiffany s landmarks when
Telly arrives. On the blog, there was a certain person that always left hateful comments named
Telly. They find out that she only commented those things because she was jealous of how skinny
Audrey was. They forgive her and let her join their group for the rest of time. Telly also informs
them that there would be an Audrey Hepburn wardrobe auction that day, which they decided... Show

The Rules Of Oppression By Friedrich Nietzsche
The Rules of Oppression For this assignment, I was asked to create an essay demonstrating my
knowledge from the semester, by elaborating on the topics discussed in class on philosophers of
morality. The philosopher that maximized my attention was Friedrich Nietzsche. Per Internet
Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Nietzsche wrote on on truth, morality, language, aesthetics,
cultural theory, history, nihilism, power, consciousness, and the meaning of existence.
(Wilkerson) Nietzsche s work on morality, titled Master and Slave Morality implemented
questions I have pondered in regards to the choice of who controls power in the world, because
it is often that those control power assumed their position by bullying those who pose a threat,
thus inciting an inferior feeling. A question that reoccurred while studying Nietzsche was how
do the people who are forced in to his master/slave complex break free of their master s grips?
The answer to my question is also in Nietzsche s work, and is titled Transvaluation of Values.
Transvaluation of Values occurs when the slave class over throws or resists their masters, (a flip
in power structure) therefore those who are placed in the roll of slaves due to their values, and
beliefs will continue to break free of their oppression, because of the opportunity named
Transvaluation of Values. Within my class room we defined The Master and Slave Morality
System as classifying people in to two categories: master, and slave. Other names for the

The streetcar name desire: two contrasting Tennessee Williams productions show the need to respect the text The play a streetcar named desire written by an american playwright Tennessee Williams in 1984 caused the 180 degree shift in the treatment of social conflict in american theater. • 8. Current Situation Of The New World Project Coordinate... Current situation Virtually all transportation engineering firms today produce digital data for their designs, mostly in the form of 2D files in either Microstation (.dgn) or Autocad (.dwg) format. These files represent the plan layout, in the real world project coordinate system, of each discipline of work: roadway, drainage, structure, electrical, communications, and so on. Some of the digital data represents other views, such as profile, elevation, cross sections, and highly complex digital data contains non graphic data such as coordinate geometry, templates, and networks. This digital design data isn t new; it s been growing in use since the early 80 s and reached critical mass in the early 90 s However, even with all of this digital data being created, the focus of the work is still on producing traditional deliverables in the form of plans (also referred to as drawings) who s format has changed very little since the blueprint was invented in the mid 1800 s. Traditional Plans Are Analog Information Traditional plans or drawings are analog information printed by referencing the underlying digital information. The only means of interpreting them is by visual recognition (shape), scaling (approximate distance), or by reading a callout (text and numbers). They are a mimicry of what past technology caused the format of communication to be. I will be focusing this paper on the reasons why Maggie should be given the quilts, reasons why Dee should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what it means to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates the practical value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her grandmother, Maggie is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying warm at night than as folk art which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her simple minded sister come into full light during a conversation with Momma when her request for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough to put them the everyday use. I reckon she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em long enough with nobody using em. I hope she will. Andrew Carnegie was a poor boy who ended up becoming the richest man in america during 1901. He worked himself up in the Pennsylvania Railroad company and would have been successful there but he was unclear on what he wanted to do. So he decided to move to New York City where he met Henry Bessemer. Bessemer taught him how to make steel, so then Carnegie moved back to Pittsburg and set up a steel mill. There he became a steel king and it caused him to become extremely wealthy. A hero is someone who has courage, integrity, and a concern for others. There were three reasons Andrew Carnegiewas not a hero and they are he was a hypocrite, did not care about others, and caused others to lose self respect. • 12. Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay Ibsen s Hedda Gabler portrays the societal roles of gender and sex through Hedda as a character trying to break the status quo of gender relations within the Victorian era. The social conditions and principles that Ibsen presents in Hedda Gabler are of crucial importance as they constitute the molding and tempering forces which dictate the behavior of all the play s characters with each character part of a tightly woven social fabric (Kildahl). Hedda is an example of perverted femininity in a depraved society intent on sacrificing to its own self interest and the freedom and individual expression of its members. With no focus on Hedda s mother we can imagine that the general did little to prepare his daughter for wifehood or motherhood. Hedda inherited his pride, coldness, and an authoritative attitude toward others of a lower rank. Even after marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and guns, which signifies her desire for masculine control as well as her personal form of mourning of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. This perverse behavior can be attributed greatly to the era in which Hedda lives, because her choices are highly influenced by the male dominated society. Hedda tears down everyone throughout the play, with LГ¶vborg and Brack as the only exception. After being born to a high standing family, her expectations of power are high, but due to her biologic form as a woman she is trapped and unable to take control, because Hedda has been imprisoned since girlhood by the bars of Victorian propriety, her emotional life has grown turbulent and explosive (Embler). You have looked at all the cities you would most likely move to and you have finally picked out that El Paso, Texas and London, England are your two final choices. After narrowing down the options to two cities its important to look at similarities and differences. Although El Paso, Texas and London, England are similar in their cheap housing and exuberant job opportunities, they differ in their getaways, job opportunities, and housing. El Paso and London are very similar in that the cities don t only offer housing at a very affordable rate, but also have created ways to employ its citizens. The similarities between the cities affordable homes is that both are using cheaper areas to reconstruct or build new homes. This causes cheaper rent and mortgages. A similar way the cities are creating jobs is through teaching skills. El Paso offers the Jobs Corps which provides a counselor to walk students through steps in getting a job. London also offers a mentor to help guide employees through the daily routines and requirements to get the job. The two similarities of the cities are just a few, but there are differences as well. Unless the cycle is disrupted early on in a victim s life, it can impede upon his or her likeliness to succeed and raise his or her own children. Nathan, a Baptist evangelist journeyed with his four daughters and wife to the Belgian Congo with his mission to save the unenlightened souls of the Congolese people. His aim was to accomplish this through his strict biblical sanctions and his firm belief in his Christian faith. As a child who respects their parents religion and belief, Leah was compassionate and genuine about her father s faith and his outlook on life. Instead, he imposed his doctrines unto them and demanding that they become Christians and for them to believe that his religion is correct and that no other religion follows. This egomaniac behavior was demonstrated during one of his encounter with Tata Ndu, the chief of Kikango when he was told that the people of Congo were not Christians, Nathan was outraged because he thought that they were committing an act of sin since they did not believe in Jesus Christ. When these paintings were exhibited for the first time, they must have been captivating, while at the same time as being an inspiration, the artists have also distanced themselves from this work. As discussed previously The Large Bathers is not a vivid image of beauty. Upon looking at the Matisse s Bonheur de Vivre we see that ultimate departure. My interpretation is of this painting is that it is certainly a contrast with the bright colors while at the same time also having a somewhat distorted view of reality and of the human form. This painting was certainly significant in making a bold statement of the human form as well as of human existence being viewed as being leisurely and indulgent. The second painting, could be seen as a departure, just as discussed taking the dehumanization to a different level. The distortion is far more angular and of course, as noted above, the background follows this distortion and further emphasizes this style of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moin explains that the two Lords of Conjunction are shown in the opening folios sitting on thrones facing each other, as if one is signifying the other. Meatpackers created an industrial assembly line, requiring about 80 separate jobs from the slaughtering of an animal to processing the meat for sales ( BRIA 24 1 B Upton Sinclair s The Jungle: Muckraking the Meat Packing Industry ). The scraps of an animal ended up in lard, soap, and fertilizer. Unskilled immigrants executed all the hazardous work, in dark and extremely hot rooms. Workers stood on floors covered with blood, meat scraps, and foul water ( BRIA 24 1 B Upton Sinclair s The Jungle: Muckraking the Meat Packing Industry ). Women and children over 14 were given specific jobs such as sausage making and canning. Salaries consisted of pennies per hour, and work consisted of 10 hours per day, 6 days a week. Pacesetters , or skilled workers that sped up the assembly line earned as much as fifty cents an hour, but caused turmoil among the other less paid workers. Immigrants overflowed into tenement apartments in Packingtown, Chicago, next to stockyards and huge city dumps. • 39. What A Strange Genre Of Painting Still Life Still life What a strange genre of painting still life is: it makes people admire a copy of those things that we sometimes do not admire originally, Blaise Pascal (famous French mathematician, writer and philosopher). Indeed, though at the first sight some still lives may not seem to convey great ideas to the viewers, nevertheless these paintings tend to conceal deep meanings within. Often, only the discerning eye of an artist can see the hidden essence of some objects in space. Still life painting, as a distinct and independent genre of art, only began to exist in Northern Europe (Holland, Germany,) in the 16th century since, during the Medieval Ages, art wasn t supposed to depict anything but religious scenes from the Bible and some ... Bonnard was a leader of Post impressionist avant garde artists group, which was found by him and some of his friends painters (such as Maurice Denis and Г‰douard Vuillard) at the school of art in Paris. The young artists began to call themselves Les Nabis ( a prophet in Hebrew). Their art was mostly inspired by the contemporary artists of their time, such as Paul Gauguin (attracted to the use of bright and vivid colours), Paul Cezanne (the great Post impressionist of the 19th century) and even by Japanese woodblock prints. Nevertheless, the art Bonnard was criticised and rejected by the contemporary society since the public yet wasn t used to progressive modern art depicting an idea within the scene, rather than just objects beautifully composed together and painted in a realistic manner. Bonnard s paintings were often considered too childish and pointless by critics. Conversely, they are now appreciated and valued by the art lovers all over the world. In his art, Bonnard always aspired to go beyond the limitations of the contemporary art movement. He criticised the impressionists for the imperfection of composition in their paintings and for the redundant use of pale and predominantly tertiary colours. He is a very memorable character who is morally upright but guilty of certain thefts for which he feels remorse. To avoid capture and life sentence, he assumes the identity of Monsieur Madeliene, soon becoming the mayor of the small town he has adopted. It is a very beautiful story packed with excitement. It talks about man s struggle to escape the past and reaffirm his humanity in a society wherein poverty and ignorance prevails. It shows the inhumane treatment of the convicts and ex convicts. He s so pathetic that he became obsessed with it. Somehow, we can say that he won, because he found what he s looking for. But, in the end, he still loses. He failed his life, because he can t accept the fact that the person he hated so much saved him at the peak of his misfortune. This story entails a lot of things that we must consider and reconsider. Such things like injustices and discriminations, which I believe is still rampant nowadays. It also point out, that no matter how chary and confidently we hide our past life, there comes a time, where it will all be revealed in the eyes of many and when that moment comes, we must have the assurance that we are ready. • 41. The Massacre Of The Innocents Analysis The Massacre of the innocents gives the viewer a glimpse into the life and artistic journey of Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10) The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1). Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. The establishment of colonies has fostered the creation of distinct buildings purposed to serve different functions. There has been an ongoing discourse of whether the use of land is determined chronologically, culturally, or perhaps by some other factor. Of course, this varies from cityto city. Persepolis Satire French philosopher Jean Baudrillard spoke: the world is not dialectical it is sworn to extremes, not to equilibrium, sworn to radical antagonism, not to reconciliation or synthesis. This is also the principle of evil. In Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis, the events and effects of the Islamic Revolution are portrayed; what is most notable, however, are the steps taken to portray Satrapi s personal position. In her graphic text, she illustrates her work with a sharp blackand whitecontrast, utilized to portray a variety of themes. How can one s perspective filter the way they view the world around them? That question is what Satrapi challenges with Persepolis, which distinguishes her work. Through the black and white scheme, Persepolis illustrates political and social extremism; a lack of gray area between opposing sides of political warfare, especially from a victim s perspective. A child s innocence is portrayed by the black and white scheme, as well as the book s formatting, in an attempt to both politicize the surroundings of Satrapi and humanize her existence as a regular youth who conversely resulted in being victimized by war. Persepolis additionally has an aimed exclusion of colorthat directly refutes those who ostracize and discriminate against Iranian people. The Rules Of Oppression By Friedrich Nietzsche The Rules of Oppression For this assignment, I was asked to create an essay demonstrating my knowledge from the semester, by elaborating on the topics discussed in class on philosophers of morality. The philosopher that maximized my attention was Friedrich Nietzsche. Per Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Nietzsche wrote on on truth, morality, language, aesthetics, cultural theory, history, nihilism, power, consciousness, and the meaning of existence. (Wilkerson) Nietzsche s work on morality, titled Master and Slave Morality implemented questions I have pondered in regards to the choice of who controls power in the world, because it is often that those control power assumed their position by bullying those who pose a threat, thus inciting an inferior feeling. A question that reoccurred while studying Nietzsche was how do the people who are forced in to his master/slave complex break free of their master s grips? The answer to my question is also in Nietzsche s work, and is titled Transvaluation of Values. Transvaluation of Values occurs when the slave class over throws or resists their masters, (a flip in power structure) therefore those who are placed in the roll of slaves due to their values, and beliefs will continue to break free of their oppression, because of the opportunity named Transvaluation of Values.
