Write An Essay On Democracy
Crafting an essay on the subject of democracy is akin to navigating a labyrinth of diverse
perspectives, historical intricacies, and contemporary challenges. It demands a profound
understanding of political theory, historical context, and sociocultural dynamics.
Firstly, one must delve into the origins of democracy, tracing its roots from ancient Athens to
modern-day governance structures worldwide. This journey involves grappling with
philosophical musings of Plato and Aristotle, understanding the evolution of democratic ideals
through revolutions and reform movements, and analyzing the diverse manifestations of
democratic systems across different nations.
Furthermore, dissecting the core principles of democracy necessitates a nuanced exploration of
concepts such as popular sovereignty, political participation, and the rule of law. Here, one
encounters a myriad of theoretical frameworks, from liberal democracy to deliberative
democracy, each offering unique insights into the complexities of democratic governance.
However, the essay's challenges extend beyond theoretical deliberations to practical realities.
Examining the functioning of contemporary democracies involves confronting a plethora of
issues, including electoral integrity, political polarization, and the role of media in shaping public
discourse. Moreover, grappling with the global spread of illiberal democracy and authoritarian
resurgence adds another layer of complexity to the discourse.
Additionally, addressing the nuances of democratic governance requires navigating a diverse
array of case studies and comparative analyses. From the robust democratic institutions of
Western Europe to the tumultuous democratic transitions in post-colonial nations, each context
offers valuable lessons and insights into the intricacies of democratization processes.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on democracy demands a comprehensive understanding of
political theory, historical context, and contemporary challenges. It requires grappling with
diverse perspectives, analyzing complex dynamics, and synthesizing multifaceted arguments to
provide a nuanced exploration of this fundamental concept in political science.
At the end of the essay, without explicitly mentioning the topic, one could subtly suggest that

Discretion In The Australian Criminal Justice System
Discretion is the ability to act based on an induvial assessment of a situation, rather
than having laws that attempt to dictate every possible situation. Discretion is a
fundamental principle in the Australian criminal justice system. It plays a key role in
multiple processes, including the investigation, bail, trial and in sentencing.
Discretion is beneficial to the criminal justice system but is not without reproach.
The investigation process relies heavily on discretion. The investigation of a crime
relies on the decision to report the crime. It is not uncommon for many crimes to go
unreported, leading to what is known as the dark figure of crime, an ABS survey
finding that only 36.6% of sexual assaults and 50.5% physically assaults were ...

Foreign Ownership Of Capital Beyond Westminster
By many accounts, British property is now the most expensive in the world,
particularly in the densely populated southeast. Property prices have increased
more in the UK as compared with every other country in the G7. Rising property
prices are felt most severely by the UK s younger population, as more are forced to
work in less productive areas or take long marathon commutes . Approximately 24
percent of people born in 1990 own houses. Due to the increasing real estateprices,
general home ownership peaked at 2003 when it reached 71 percent and has been
dwindling steadily ever since then.
Whilst many people blame this surge in prices on wealthy foreigners who see
London and other urban areas as a Tax efficient investments there is very little
evidence to support this argument, foreign ownership of capital beyond
Westminster is quite rare. In Islington the rate is 1.3 percent, and outside of London
this rate is even lower. Most economists agree that the primary reason for the
booming housing market is population growth. In the past two decades, Britain s
population has increased by approximately eleven percent per year, almost twice the
median rate in the European Union. Moreover, that fact that people are marrying
later in life and divorce is becoming more socially acceptable and common further
increases the need for housing. Approximately ten percent of the Britain s population
now lives alone. Rapidly rising demand is met with a decreasing supply. Due to rigid

Atm Machine
An automated teller machine or automatic teller machine (ATM), also known as an
automated banking machine (ABM) in Canada, and a Cashpoint (which is a
trademark of Lloyds TSB), cash machine or sometimes a hole in the wall in British
English, is a computerised telecommunications device that provides the clients of a
financial institution with access to financial transactions in a public space without
the need for a cashier, human clerk or bankteller. ATMs are known by various other
names including ATM machine, automated banking machine, and various regional
variants derived from trademarks on ATM systems held by particular banks.
Invented by John Shepherd Barron, the first ATM was introduced in June 1967 at
Barclays Bank in Enfield, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gentile and Jack Wu Chang, underUS Patent # 3,833,885. On September 2, 1969,
Chemical Bank installed the first ATM in the U.S. at its branch in Rockville Centre,
New York. The first ATMs were designed to dispense a fixed amount of cash when a
user inserted a specially coded card. A Chemical Bank advertisement boasted On
Sept. 2 our bank will open at 9:00 and never close again. Chemicals ATM, initially
known as a Docuteller was designed by Donald Wetzel and his company Docutel.
Chemical executives were initially hesitant about the electronic banking transition
given the high cost of the early machines. Additionally, executives were concerned
that customers would resist having machines handling their money. In 1995, the
Smithsonian National Museum of American History recognised Docutel and Wetzel
as the inventors of the networked ATM.
ATMs first came into use in December 1972 in the UK; the IBM 2984 was
designed at the request of Lloyds Bank. The 2984 CIT (Cash Issuing Terminal)
was the first true Cashpoint, similar in function to today s machines; Cashpoint is
still a registered trademark of Lloyds TSB in the UK. All were online and issued a
variable amount which was immediately deducted from the account. A small number
of 2984s were supplied to a US bank. Notable historical models of ATMs include the
IBM 3624 and 473x series, Diebold 10xx and TABS 9000 series, NCR 1780 and
earlier NCR 770 series.
Essay on Rigoberta Menchu
In the article Liar, Rigoberta Menchu by Dinesh D Souze(1999) he states that
anthropologist David Stoll and New York Times reporter Larry Rohter found
evidence that Rigoberta Menchu lied in her autobiography and therefore her book
should not be used in schools and universities. First of all it is said that Rigoberta
Menchu claims that she never went to school but she actually has the equivalent of
a middle school education which she received due to a scholarship and attended two
prestigious private boarding schools that were operated by Catholic nuns, this was
verified by her half sister who also said that Rigoberta could have not spent eight
months on coffee and plantation fields and working as a political organizer because
she spent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I like many others find the accusations that Menchu lied presumptuous because in
my eyes they haven t proved anything and we don t know if the so called evidence
can be relied on as the truth because first of all we all know of the economic
hardships that the people of Guatemala face and that the person that said that he was
Rigoberta s brother could have been paid, also we don t know what the relationship
between Rigoberta and her half sister was like and she could be saying things out
of spite due to Rigoberta s success. I believe that if these things were actually true
why these people haven t come forward in public to discredit Rigoberta Menchu. In
the article Guatemala Laureate Defends My Truth By Julia Preston, Mr. Stoll said
today that he had never intended to accuse Menchu of lying. He said You can
understand and defend her narrative strategy, of folding others experience into her
own because she was trying to bring down pressure on the Government and army .
When asked supporters of Menchu such as Marjori Agosin of Wellesley College say
that whether or not Rigoberta s autobiography was faked, the native Indians of
Guatemala have endured unimaginable hardships, the death
Expression Of Mind Tupac Analysis Essay
Expression of Mind: An Analysis of Tupac Shakur s XXXXX
Because of his traumatic upbringing, Tupac Shakur is known for his blunt and
unfiltered lyrics and ability to catch the attention of his audience. Shakur was born
Lesane Parish Crooks in June of 1971 in East Harlem, New York. Later in 1972, his
mother changed his name to Tupac Amaru Shakur, after the last Inca monarch, who,
ironically, was executed after leading an indigenous uprising against Spanish rule.
Tupac was born into a family of Black Panthers, a revolutionary black nationalist and
socialist organization. In school, Shakur often excelled teacher s expectations. He
was extremely intelligent and enjoyed participating in school plays and dances.
However, from an early age he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tupac Shakur spoke out against police brutality and felt strongly about equality and
expression of mind which reflected in his art. Most of his themes and topics
revolved around inner city struggles, racism, freedom, and other social conflicts.
Shakur s poem In the Depths of Solitude, outlines not only many of the internal
struggles that Shakur was dealing with, but the struggles that a lot of young, black
men were dealing with during that particular time period. This poem is written as
a dedication to himself and the only audience is him. In the poem, the speaker,
Tupac himself, is, Trying 2 find peace of mind (3). During this time period, Tupac
is forced to face all the struggles that come along with being a well known rapper
and idol, admired and observed by so many. Like many young people, Shakur is
not completely secure within himself and with so many others depending on him
to be a certain way, it makes sense for him to define himself in relation to those
around him. He is craving to be accepted and valued. CONSTANTLY yearning to 2

Neil Henrik David Bohr was born on October 7, 1885. He was the son of Christian
and Ellen Bohr. Bohr grow up in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Christian
Bohr was a extremely smart professor and physicist, thus causing Neil to take a
strong and intense interest in the study of science as well. Bohr attended
Gammelholm Latin School and was an extremely smart young man. He attended
Copenhagen University, were he received his masters and doctrine in physics. On
January 1, 1912 Neil Bohr was got married to his beloved wife Margethe NГёrlund.
The two had six children but unfortunately two of them passed away. The rest of his
children were very intelligent and had much success in their lifespans. Bohr became

with his own law and model of the atom. This advancement changed physics forever.
Bohr s model was made up of four ideas.
1)Electrons assume only certain orbits around the nucleus. These orbits are stable and
called stationary orbits.
2)Each orbit has an energy associated with it. For example the orbit closest to the
nucleus has an energy E1, the next closest E2 and so
Augustine Of Hippo Accomplishments
Saint Augustine of Hippo was a Christian theologian and philosopher in the early
part of the 5th century who authored some of the most famous texts in Christianity,
including Confessions, On Christian Doctrine, and The City of God, all of which
significantly expanded and popularized Western Christianity. He was born in 354
in modern day Algeria and was quickly found to possess an inquisitive mind and an
attractive personality at a young age. He then proceeded to attend school, where he
specifically studied the art of rhetoric, and then sought to teach others what he had
learned. However, while at school, he had begun an affair with a woman from
Carthage, with whom he had a son. This would be the spark for what would become
a long and well documented... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Augustine s major pitfalls was his unbelievable dedication to his wife, and
while marriage itself should not be chastised, the facets of marriage that have the
potential to prevent one from fully following God deserve to be castigated. Augustine
s obsession with pleasing his wife served as a tension between him and God, and he
began to understand just how much that limited him in understanding God. From
thereon out, Augustine dedicated himself to being chaste and faithful only to the
Lord. In today s world, this may be considered a bit extreme just to simply give
everything secular up and lead the life of a pilgrim, but there are many missionaries
that have followed in Augustine s model and have given up certain aspects of their
lives that they had previously considered untouchable, such as financial security, the
need for materiality, and other secular/worldly things. Augustine s influence on how
people are now converted to Christ, either individually or within a group setting,
proved just how transformative he was to Christianity as a whole, especially in the
early stages where Christianity was still not as widespread as it is
Mindfulness Training
fixating feelings of loneliness or a low sense of purpose (Shonin et al., 2014a).
Mindfulness training is effective because it provides coping skills to reduce
impulses, emotions and stress associated with gambling urges (Reid, DiTirro Fong,
2014). Physiological. Over the decades, scientists have found that physiological
changes are evident in those who meditate over long periods of time. A study by
Lazar et al. (2005), showed that long time meditators have a thicker cortex than non
meditators. The area of the brainevaluated in this study was the right hemisphere,
which is the center of sensory, cognitive and emotional processing. Functional
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) processes were used to measure the cortex of the
brain. Researchers concluded that meditation slows age related declines in cortical
structure, and the respiratory rate and blood pressure levels were lower amongst long
time meditators (Lazar et al., 2005). Physiological studies have shown researchers
that mindfulness positively alters the structure of the brain (Lazar et al., 2005). There
are multiple benefits of practicing mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness affects areas
of the brain related to perception, body awareness, pain tolerance, emotional
regulation, and altruism, kindness to others, complex thinking and sense of self

It also stands out that this year the company deducted from its Gross Profit less
interest than in the anterior years, from $361 in 2008 to $90 in 2009.
The result of all the reductions of expenses on the revenues, takes us to the Net
Earnings. This account reflects $12,266, $683 less than in 2008, but $1,690 more
than 2007.
Regarding Johnson Johnson s earnings per share, we can see that from the total net
earnings, each share of the company s common stock is valued in $4.40 which has
significantly decreased from its value in 2008, but once again is over the value of
year 2007, probably due to the economic crisis.

Analysis
As we can see in J J s balance sheet, the total assets (total liabilities + total
stockholders equity) for 2009 was $94,682.
Liquidity Ratios
The liquidity ratios are a group of ratios that show the relationship of a firm s cash
and other current assets to its current liabilities. This basically means that the ratios
measure how well the company is able to pay its short term obligations and how well
they can confront unexpected needs for cash.
Working capital is the excess of a company s current assets over its current liabilities.
Financially healthy firms have positive working capitals.

The Use of Monitoring Devices at the Workplace
For the past decade, many companies have changed their way of using modern
technologies. Therefore, it has resulted in newer strategies to manage employees at
the workplace. The increased usage of surveillance and monitoring have caused
concerns for both employees and employers. These technologies should not be
allowed at the workplace because it can create poor working environment and violates

Personal information and important data like bank accounts and e mails are
vulnerable with monitoring devices placed everywhere.
Another reason is the stress monitoring employees in the workplace can cause. More
than 12 million people are monitored by electronic surveillance at work causing a
sharp rise in stress levels, according to a survey by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI).
Moreover, overly intrusive monitoring could decrease productivity and potentially
cause exhaustion and feelings of anxiety. The Security Director s Report adds that
surveillance can undermine morale and cause employees to resent management. It
can foster discord and instead of bridging the existing gaps between management and
their employees, surveillance activities may bring in more skepticisms and gaps.
But some people argue that putting such devices in offices will increase the
performance of employees. For example, employees can be distracted by websites
that are non work related. According to a Nielson Media Research study,
employees allegedly logged into outlets such as gaming websites and social media
networks like Facebook or Twitter. Any kind of viruses or malware could severely
disrupt a business s day to day activities; this could become detrimental to
productivity and have a knock on effect on profits. By monitoring employee internet
use and ensuring only business surfing is carried out this
The Marketing Strategy Of Mcdonalds
Mc Donald s Marketing Strategy McDonalds marketing strategy is aimed at the fact
that their focus is not so much on being the biggest fast food restaurant chain. It is
more focused on being the best fast food restaurant chain. Their biggest marketing
factor is the promise of being fast and convenience . Here, there are four marketing
that are used by McDonalds which is marketing mix or also known as 4P :
1.Products marketing
McDonald s places considerable emphasis on developing a menu which customer
wants. For example, its breakfast menu, salads, Chicken McNuggets, and the
McLean Deluxe sandwich were all the examples of how the company tried to
appeals to a wider range of consumers. The perceived secret of McDonald s success
is the willingness to innovate. Typically, many ideas for new menu items come from
franchisees responding to customer demand. Filet o Fish, Drive Thrus and Playlands
were all products or concepts developed by franchisees.
Another strategy McDonalds used in product marketing is tries a few concepts
simultaneous in different parts of country. For example, McDonald s offer Halal food
in Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and
Bangladesh. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also a central part of the image building process. Sponsorship of the 1998

The Red Light On The Dashboard Essay
. Suppress your anger. Anger gets a really bad rap, but I kind of love it. I see it as the
red light on the dashboard. It simply means that my needs are not being met. So I
don t suppress it: I acknowledge it and address it.
2. Start telling a story. When you re angry, it s easy (and natural) to start writing a
play in which you re simultaneously the hero, the victim, and the narrator. Don t.
Your motto should be just the facts. Identify what you really know is the case (as
opposed to what you think is happening). Take a clear look at what you are reacting
to and make a clear observation, making sure not to mix in your judgments.
3. Blame a situation or another person. A situation or another person s actions can
never make you feel a certain way, so obviously blaming someone or something for
your anger is a red herring. Remember, feelings are your warning signals, and are
always a result of your needs not being met. As your attention shifts from the stimulus
and your immediate reaction (anger) to identifying which of your needs are not being
met, your feelings will shift also.
4. Focus on what you don t want. Don t focus on what s bad about the situation:
doing so will almost certainly keep you stuck there. Think about it: until we figure
out what specific things we do want, it s going to be impossible to ask for them. We
re much more likely to judge and blame others for the bad stuff ( It s her fault! ).
Learn to take ownership of your thinking and focus
The Islamic Culture Mirrors Of The Roman Empire
It is said that the Islamic culture mirrors that of the Roman Empire in terms of
expansion and longevity. The now widely practiced faith began in an area called
Arabia, which neither Rome nor Persia dared conquer. From its creation, it
contributed several important things to Medieval Europe and the World as a whole.
It conquered a large region and gained thousands of followers. Islambegan, as stated,
in the desert land of Arabia. Due to the Arabs tribal nature, they were skilled at
navigation and long distance trading. They became the guides and couriers of the
trade routes going to and from Africa and Asia. Thus, towns began to form, including
the famous pilgrimage site, Mecca. Arabian tribes often worshipped the Black Stone,
kept in the Kaaba, which was located in Mecca. Thus, those that controlled the shrine
controlled the entire economic and spiritual life of the region surrounding Mecca.
From this group came Muhammad, who founded Islam and changed the course of
the Arabs worship. After experiencing a spiritual epiphany in, or around, 610,
Muhammad made a decision to worship only the most prominent god in Arab faith,
Allah. Following this major change in faith, Muhammad tried to gain a following
among the Arab people. This proved unsuccessful at first, so Muhammad and his
friends journeyed to the area of Yathrib, which he renamed Medina and established
himself as the ruler. The journey of Muhammad is now know as the Hijrah and is
used by Muslims to date their

Suicide Bombers
What makes a suicide bomber? Is it religions upbringing with promises of paradise in
reward for acts of martyrdom? Is it the parental support he or she receives for his
convictions? Is it society with no means of fighting back against oppression and
humiliation? (http://www.israelinsider.com/channels/security/articles/sec0049.htm).
In this paper I will discuss the characteristics of a suicide bomber, their mission, as
well as discuss suicide attacks.
Suicide Bombers Suicide bombers are said to believe that God sends them on their

Suicide Bombings
Suicide attacks by terrorists are occurring more often, however, it is nothing new.
Suicide attacks can be traced back to the Jewish Sicaris in the 1st century, among

Coming Of Age Quotes From A Separate Peace
In a place flooded with war and violence, a school is separated from reality; living
within the walls are the boys of the school, shielded from the ugly truths that lie
beyond. During this time of adolescence, the boys are forced to grow and mature
while the walls that protect them begin to fall. One boy, Gene, lives within this wall
and matures into a young man during this time through many events and conflicts he
faces. Through these events occurring, he is now able to withstand the violence of
the world, warand trauma. This coming of age is demonstrated when Gene causes
Finny to fall out of the tree, discovers the reality of war, and Finny dies. Gene s act
of purposely causing Finny to fall out of the tree forces him to feel guilty and move
on from his tendencies of jealousy and anger. After Finny s fall, Gene discovers that
Finny is so faithful as to not even accuse Gene of his actions. This causes Gene to

and I and all of us were on the brink of the army (Knowles 135). Gene is now
coming to the realization that war can have negative effects on those involved and
is beginning to fear the war. Previously, just as the other boys, he has been shielded
from the ugly truths of war by attending Devon, alien to the idea of the violence that
it contains. Now, he has achieved a new understanding and has now created an
informed opinion on war. This serves as a turning point for Gene because he is

Holly Strawbridge is an author for Harvard Health Blog. Strawbridge s purpose in
writing this article was to inform the general public of the dangers of artificial
sweeteners. The article mainly briefs over the negative effects of consuming
artificial sweeteners, specifically the diseases potentially caused by them. This
article speaks more negatively of artificial sweeteners than any other source used. It
is also fairly short and direct. It can be determined unbiased and credible due to the
fact that it was published through Harvard Medical School. This source would not be
optimal for this essay because it provides information showing that artificial
sweeteners are unhealthy and lead to weight

The Scoop s Tragic Flaw
Many things can t be explained, but I have explained a few things that might seem
confusing. If distance equals rate times time, than how fast the object is going,
and how long the object is staying in the air is key. The machine that works faster
and keeps the object in the air longer should be better than the other. Unless there is
a difference in the objects, as such as one might be lighter, or float to stay in the air
longer. Or if one object is more aerodynamic than the other. The area in the scoop is
much larger than the claw. Therefore it would be slower, and requiring more energyto
move and to toss the object. But more forceper area would be applied on the object,
which could make it go farther. There are endless possibilities to... Show more content

The lever propelling the claw tossing the object uses the law of torque and the law of
energy. The gear motors moving the claw use the fulcrum of the lever holding the
claw. Therefore launching the object and sending it through the air to its supposed
target. The torque and energy used is supplied by the gear motor moving the lever
and claw (Physics Forums).
The scoop on the end of the lever provides same as the claw, but extra force.
Though you would also need more torque and energy to move the scoop tossing
the object to its said target. The lever would need to change to a different spot on
its fulcrum for maximum reach and to increase the distance for the object to go.
There would be very little or no change to how far the object might go compared to
the claw (Physics Forums). I believe that the scoop will toss the object farther, just
based on the fast that it is bigger and needs more power than the claw. I will test the
claw with a small object to toss, and watch how far and high the object goes in the
air. I will do the same with the scoop and compare the differences, if any at all. That
is all that is needed to explain my
Looking Glass Wars Theme
In The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor, the story of Alice in Wonderland is
retold, but with a twist. Instead of Alice going to Wonderland because she wants to
live in a different place, Alice (Alyss) lives in Wonderland, and the book was
written about her life. Alyss experiences many obstacles in her journey to the real
world. She ends up in England where she is then convinced that Wonderland isn t
real and that it was all just her imagination. However, to her surprise, she ends up
back in Wonderland and back in the same troubles in which she left behind. By
changing the plot of the story, the themes of the original story have been tweaked.
One of the major themes in this book is love and sacrifice. This theme is shown

Personal Narrative-Swim Analysis
Take your mark, set, go! Instead of diving swiftly into the pool and making no
noise, I belly flopped so hard that I splashed the other swimmers on my side.
Embarrassed and physically hurt, I couldn t stop because I had a race to complete
and a time to beat. Kicking as fast as I could and breathing after every stroke, I
swam my heart out. Even though I was the last person to touch the wall, I was
satisfied because I had just beat my personal record. I m not an Olympic swimmer
and I don t have the fastest times, but I do love the sport. In ninth grade, my school
required all freshmen to take a swim test in order to determine whether or not to put
those students in the swim class. I passed, but I took the class anyways because I

Historic Value Of The Oregon Historical District
The Oregon Historical District is a twelve city block area in Dayton, Ohio that is
registered with the National Register of Historic Places. This reasonably small area
has both commercial and residential land uses. Though mixed use space, commercial
and residential, is seen as a modern phenomenon, this area of land is quite old for an
American city with the original plat recording in 1829. However, the homes in the
area developed over a period of 100 years which allowed for them to development
with different architectural features with the most common being Classic Revival.
This different architectural development could also be seen throughout the business
district. Intriguing ideas held within the historic value of the Oregon Historical
District are the ideas of preservation and protection. Instead of requiring its residents
to rehabilitate the homes to original status the requirements are that the home look
authentic and have the appeal of authenticity. The aesthetic nature of the homes
should be less museum like and more home like with the intention of preserving the
architectural character of the past. In 1975, the Oregon Historical District ratified a
Constitution with the most recent amendment in 2014. This Constitution requires
that residents that live within the twelve block radius of the district be part of the
Oregon District Historic Society. These residents are known as members and pay a
yearly membership fee. There is a board of trustees that consists of nine

You can apply the same mantra to impromptu presentations. Sear the basic structure
of a presentation into your memory and volunteer to give speeches on the spot. The
more you practice giving impromptu presentations, the more comfortable you
become doing so. Just as people trained to respond to emergencies at a moment s
notice, you will be able to respond with a solid presentation at a moment s notice.
Consider the following key points as well as how to best communicate the content
that is necessary for the requested presentation.
Please With Threes
A lesson I teach early in my presentation skills workshops, and that I learned in school
and in Toastmasters clubs, is to please with threes . Otherwise called the rule of
threes, this means that you create a presentation using a speech structure that consists
of three main components: an opening, a body, and a closing. Manage these three
major parts of a presentation and your speech will be organized every time.
Get Off on the Right Foot
Develop an attention grabbing opening. On short notice, few people expect you to be
witty or humorous. Typically, last minute presenters are expected to address a
specific issue or concern. Implement the following techniques, however, and you just
might come across as witty and instantly engaging in spite of your last minute
The Tragedy Of Theseus, The King Of Herakles
The Athenian hero Theseus served as a model of Athenian civic duty and shaped his
audience s conception of right and wrong behavior. Theseus, king of Athens, was
believed to be a great hero and served as the Athenian counterpart of Herakles.
Primarily, Theseus was a source of Athenian pride and civic duty. Solely on his
journey from Troezen to Athens, Theseusgoes through six labors in which he defeats
six monster and human adversaries that had plagued Greece while giving them a
taste of their own medicine. He defeated Periphetes, who used his club to beat
passersby to death, by using his own club to bludgeon him to death. He defeated
Sinis the robber and used his cruel murder method against him, tying Sinis between
two trees that were bent down to the ground, and then letting the trees go, tearing
him apart. This trend continued through the killing of the Crommyonian pig,
Sciron the robber, King Cercyon the wrestler, and procrustes the stretcher. Time
and again, Theseus risked his life to rid the world of evil and make greece a safer
place. Theseus clearly had a very strong sense of justice, he refused to stand by and
allow monsters, human or otherwise, to roam the country unchecked. His strong
sense of justice compelled him to punish these evildoers in a manner replicating their
own crimes. In his labors, and his defeat of the Minotaur, Theseus also shows the
distinction between the uncivilized monsters, that had previously roamed Greece, and
what Athens would become under

The Weimar Republic
Tobin Mayhew Saer
Nazi Germany
Essay #1
February 23, 2016
In 1919 the German people attempted to create a parliamentary democracy with the
Weimar Republic. Born in the ashes of defeat, the Weimar Republic was heavily
burdened with failures of the past. For decades historians have sought to understand
why the Weimar Republic failed and if it was doomed to do so from the start. The
answer to this question is very complex as many different factors were involved.
The fait of Weimar Germany was in the hands of many different ideas and forces
that caused its failure which make it very difficult to isolate one or two for being
solely responsible for its demise. Many take one look at Adolf Hitler s Nazi regime
and place immediate blame on it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A very substantial reason for the failure of the Weimar Republic was the impact of
the Great Depression and the massive inflation that resulted because of it. Finally,
with Germany on its knees begging for a sense of unity and hope, Adolf Hitler and
the Nazi regime came to power officially ending the short lived Weimar Republic.
After World War I, Germany signed the peace settlement at Versailles, France in
June of 1919. The severity of the terms caused intense political debates and division
in Germany. A majority of Germans strongly opposed signing the treaty and the left
and right wings had different ideas about how to respond to it. Right wing
nationalists like the NSDAP demanded the government completely renounce the
treaty and not comply with its harsh terms. Those who were more moderate such as
the supporters of the Weimar republic scorned this approach, as they believed it
would cause retaliation, economic issues or even war. When the treaty was signed,
the German people felt that they were treated unfairly and a consensus that the
Weimar Republic was soft footed arose. This was the first of many more issues to
come. It has been argued that the financial reparation fees imposed on Germany were
too excessive. This burden on the post war economic situation caused German
recovery to be next to impossible. Within three years of the signing of
Non-Adherence To Organ Transplantation
Background
Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure of replacing a failing or diseased
organ with a healthier donor organ. In 2011, nearly 80% of 4500 Canadians needing
an organ transplant are waiting for a donor. Of which, 35% died while waiting for an
organ. In 2014, 2356 organs were transplanted and over 4500 patients were still
waiting for the donor. The statistics prove that organ transplantation is critical and the
transplanted organ must stay healthy for the rest of the recipient s life. The immune
system of the transplant patient can recognize the antigens on the transplant organ as
foreign bodies and attacks. To prevent this reaction, transplant patients are prescribed
immunosuppressive drugs. Organ rejection is crucial because ... Show more content

Cause And Effects Of Deforestation
A tree is beautiful, but what s more, it has a right to life; like water, the sun and the
stars, it is essential. Life on earth is inconceivable without trees. Forests create
climate, climate influences peoples character, and so on and so forth. There can be
neither civilization nor happiness if forests crash down under the axe, if the climate
is harsh and severe, if people are also harsh and severe. ... What a terrible future!
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov
The forest is a place filled with many wonders. Unfortunately, because of the effects
deforestation it s quickly being consumed away, due to the need of agriculture,
livestock, and also the need to create housing, according to the. According to Alina

NASA predicts that if current deforestation levels proceed, the world s rainforests
may be completely in as little as 100 years .
Deforestation is leading to many problematic issues in our environment like
damaging water cycles, corrupting the soil and destroying wildlife.
First, the effects of deforestation will have trouble effects on the planet water cycles

Constitutional Democracy Essay
To begin with, the United States founding fathers are George Washington, James
Madison, and Alexander Hamilton, they wrote the Constitution of the United States
in 1787. The United States is a constitutional democracy. A constitutional democracy
is a type of government in which powers are limited by a supreme law called the
Constitution, and the population has the power to directly vote on a political matter
which is a direct democracy. In the United States, this works differently. The
population only gets to vote directly for electing our Representatives. They represent
the will of the people of the States in the government. In constitutional democracies,
people must obey the laws, because it is their representatives who have the power...

The bill goes to the President. If the President signs it, it becomes a law. If the
President refuses to sign it, or vetoes. It goes back to the House of Representatives.
If both the Senate, and the House of Representative feel the bill should become a

someone sues, because of that law, the Supreme Court might find it unconstitutional
and block it. To continue, the Constitution has been changed twenty seven times

checks and balances. Checks and balances are that any branch can threaten to stop or

Roman Architecture And The Renaissance
Roman Architecture and the Renaissance In the renaissance days, the designers reject
the many sided quality and vertical of the Gothic style for the straightforwardness and
balanced degrees of class. Balanced bends, vaults, and the built up solicitations were
revived. This reclamation was refined through direct view of Roman leftovers. The
renaissance structural planning is the construction modeling of the time frame
between the mid fifteenth and mid seventeenth hundreds of years in distinctive
districts of Europe, showing a knowledgeable recovery and improvement of specific
components of old Romeviews on society. Elaborately, Renaissance construction
modeling took after Gothic structural engineering and was succeeded by Florid
building design. Structural planning remains an important subject to discuss when
recorded developments in the time periods happen and the various sorts of
craftsmanship begin to move as well. This is especially present in the midst of the
tasteful development from the medieval period to the Renaissance where degrees and
symmetry are returning musings beginning from generally Greek and Roman times.
In the midst of the Renaissance period, engineers, for instance Bartolommeo
Bandinelli were known for the staggeringly arranged curves in Florence, which were
greater than whenever in late memory effectively experienced. While the outside
parts of Renaissance building configuration were astounding without any other

The Importance Of Transformative Discovery In William...
It is through challenging circumstances and experiences of loss that transformative
discoveries are made, often provoking a change in mindset and significantly
impacting upon a person or a whole. Whilst these challenges can be negative,
confronting circumstances can also lead to a positive transformation. William
Shakespeare s play The Tempest(1610) and Nando Parado s autobiographical recount
Miracle in the Andes(2006) explore the notion of transformative discovery
particularly as a result of difficult and confronting circumstances, which prompt us
to asses both our identity and the power of love and forgiveness to reshape our
mindset. Loss can be one of the most provoking of challenges, acting as a catalyst
for a significant shift in perspective, often negatively. In the Tempest, Alonso in
particularly experiences a negative change in attitude after realising the nature of his
new situation. His naivety and hopeful attitude at the beginning of the play is
emphasised, Good boatswain, have care. Where s the master? Play the men, but as
the survivors situation becomes more dire, this attitude begins to pessimistically
evolve. His constant ordering and questioning poses a dramatic irony to the
audience when finally he is confronted with the discovery of his son s
disappearance, no, no he s gone, with the repetitive clichГ© of denial after loss
serving as a significant discovery, completely transforming Alonso s attitude from
naive and pompous to deflated and desperate,
Sources Of Sand And Factors
Sources of sand and factors of sand accumulation
Aeolian accumulations in the Western Desert, which include the Great Sand Sea
and the other five dune fields (South Qattara, Abu Muharik, Farafra, Kharga and
west Asyut) are the main sources of drifting sand upon the Nile Valley and its
Delta. The Great Sand Sea occupies an area of more than 115,000 km2 and extends
westward into Libya. The sands in this sand sea were originated mainly from the
Cretaceous Nubian sandstones in the southern part of the Western Desert (Besler,
2008). Radar data show that there are subsurface fluvial systems occurring beneath
the Great Sand Sea and it was postulated that these drainage lines moved tremendous
amounts of sediments northward by gravity in previous pluvial periods during the
Pleistocene, which were reworked by the wind action to form clusters of dunes (El
Baz et al., 2000). On the other hand, the source of sand, particularly west of the Nile
Delta was suggested by Abdel Rahman and El Baz (1979) to originate from the River
Nile itself. They reported that there is an ancestral delta that extends to about 500 km
width. This defunct delta is funneling north of Asyut and is extending west of the
present Nile Delta until the Qattara Depression. It is obviously recognizable in
satellite images. Dunes of the western Nile Delta region may, therefore, inherit their
sands from this ancestral delta sediments.
The forms of sand dune could throw light upon the sand supply in a given region.
Personal Understanding of Hydrogen Fuel Cells Being the...
Every element is valuable and unique due to the endless arrangements of sub atomic
particles, which fascinates me. This allows for a diversity of elemental properties,
sparking innovation for chemists to develop new products from different tasting
chocolates to materials used for rockets shaping society and the environment of the
modern world. The sheer range of applications where chemistryis involved inspires
me to contribute, while learning, unlocking why everything behaves the way it does.
With the hydrogen fusion project in construction and the recent use of hydraulic
fracturing which has caused environmental and social dispute, I chose to undertake
the extended project qualification related to this, energy, as chemistry leads these ...

Having read Phillip Balls the elements , Bill Brysons philosophical book short
introduction on nearly everything and a regular reader of chemistry review; I have
encountered various topics and experiments that I would like to know more about,
for example colloidal gold, the properties of this suspended gold, how this happens
and its applications.
Outside my academic ability I am passionate about music, playing the bass guitar
and guitar. I have performed at school concerts presenting my creativity to large
audiences. I have participated in sport days for high jump, cross country and 800m
runs obtaining podium positions using hard work. I captain a 5 man team in the
prestigious berry hall league (5 a side football) at school and we attempt to finish
the season on top; I took the credit of being the best signing of the season last year.
With the family or solo, I have travelled across Europe, Asia and America developing
tastes for new food, understanding new cultures and apprehending to new
environments. As the whole world is involved in Chemistry, my travel experiences
will prove vital in working or studying, involving Chemistry, abroad.
I have been employed, working as a co secretary for a landscape architecture
company. Dealing with memorandums, company s purchase report and mainly

Rio Bravo River Research Paper
WWF works to secure the correct volume, timing and amount of water in a river so
people and nature can thrive. Working across the globe, WWF supports responsible
water use and infrastructure. Sometimes that work involves numerous partners across
country borders as demonstrated by our work on the Rio Grande. This river, also
known as the Rio Bravo, serves as part of the border between the United States and
Mexico. Located in the Chihuahuan Desert, this river provides water to some of the
fastest growing urban areas in the United States and provides water to thousands of
farms and ranches. However, over the past century, growth in human population and
the agricultural and urban development that accompanies it has put enormous stress
on the region.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much of this is hidden water. For example, it takes 24 gallons of water to make one
pound of plastic. Some are more careful with water use and impacts than others. As
more companies begin to look for ways to reduce their water use, new science and
methods are needed to drive policy changes that will do the most good for water
sources.
Success Story: Nature Conservancy scientists are helping pioneer new science that
can track hidden water in a company s supply chain and developing guidelines to
reduce water use.
CITIES WATER USE AND IMPACTS
Stormwater carries pollution from cities into rivers and lakes, yet most cities do not
take sufficient measures to prevent run off. According to the EPA, 40 percent of US
rivers and lakes surveyed do not meet water quality standards. Urban runoff is one of
the key culprits.
Water quality isn t the only issue. Leaky, aging pipes waste 7 billion gallons of clean
drinking water each day in the United States alone. And most cities do not take
emergency measures until drought is severe.
Success Story: The Nature Conservancy is launching new projects to help cities use
less water and reduce run off. One exciting example is a project in which students in
our LEAF program built a rain garden in Camden, NJ. on the internet
Iago s Anger In Othello
Iago does not follow his own advice because he uses his anger towards Othello for
putting Iago third in command as well as Cassio for taking the second position in
command. Iago uses his anger to get Roderigo to get Cassio really mad to the point
where he s getting fired. Iago also uses his anger and not his logic to catch Desdemona
s attention to get revenge on Othello. Iagosays to Roderigo, Make Cassio angry
somehow, either by speaking too loud, or insulting his military skills, or however
else you want. (page 10). Iago uses anger to get Roderigo to go bother Cassio because
Iago wants Cassio to get really mad and make a choice. According to Iago, this will
lead to Othello waking up from his honeymoon and firing Cassio for such a
disruption.
Essay on The Role Of Nurse Glauce In The Faerie Queene
In Book Three of The Faerie Queene, the character of Glauce plays an important
role in aiding Britomart, the main character, to set off on her journey. Britomart,
who represents Spenser s idea of ideal Christian chastity, confronts some
challenging and poignant issues before she heads off on her adventure; namely,
she sees a vision of her future husband in an enchanted looking glass, and does not
quite know how to handle the feelings of all encompassing love that arise in her.
The terror, doubt and confusion she experiences are similar to what is felt by any
young girl embarking on the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence, but with the
added factor of the spectral figure she sees in the mirror. In Cantos Two and Three of
Book Three,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glauce attempts to comfort Britomart in her despair, and is seemingly the only
person to whom Britomart can turn. She is affectionate to Britomart, and refers to
Britomart as her В‘deare daughter (Spenser 3.2.267). Like a mother, Glauce
worries about the cause of Britomart s depression and, while knowing with an
apparent mother s instinct that the cause must be a man, she thinks the
circumstances behind it to be much worse than they actually turn out to be.
Glauce is relieved when she finds out the true origin of Britomart s despondency,
saying, of much more uncouth thing I was affrayd; / of filthy lust, contrarie unto
kind: / but this affection nothing straunge I find (Spenser 3.2.354 56), and then
proceeds to give a long list of all the worse case scenarios she had envisioned for
Britomart s torment. She finishes her speech by vowing to help Britomart find
Artegall (Spenser 3.2.406 14), thereby providing the utmost of support to the young
girl. Glauce s words do give hope and encouragement to Britomart, if only
temporarily, and she is finally able to sleep after several days of insomnia. The
scene in which Glauce reaches out to Britomart in her despair and tries to find its
cause is reminiscent of a young girl s coming of age into womanhood. Going further
than a young woman dealing with the first unrecognizable
Ethical Issues In Counseling Profession
During this week, there were two events that took place that awaken my awareness
of how dangerous the counseling profession is if one doesn t pay close attention to
clients/patients and follow all rules and regulations (state, federal, ethical). There
was a patient admitted to the floor that was extremely agitated in the ED. He was
found dangling off a local bridge and brought in TDO by the police. The patient
slept for the first few hours after being admitted to the floor from the ED. When he
woke up, he was agitated and began to pace the floor. There was another patient, a 4
foot 9 female, that had been verbally aggressive towards other patients and staff.
While the male patient was pacing the floor, the female patient was verbally
aggressive towards another patient and the male patient assumed she was talking to
him. He immediately became physically aggressive towards the patient by lifting her
and slightly throwing her against the wall. At that moment, the staff called the
appropriate code for security to arrive. Once security arrived, he became even more...

I explained to her that I have seen similar events; however, it was with adolescents. I
have experience adolescents attempting to run away (AWOL). I explained to her that
yes it was scary at some points but I was mostly uncomfortable when I was instructed
to stay in the room with the rest of the patients. During that time, all the patients were
either crying from being scared, angry at the aggressive patients, psychotic, or smelly.
There was on patient in the room that started masturbating while staring at me. At that
moment, I left the room and went to the staff and told them that I needed a break. I
told them to imagine being in a small room with 12 patients, some psychotic, angry,
and/or angry, and one male patient masturbating while starring you down. Gratefully,
they understood and gave me a break! Thank

4.2 Implementation Details 4.2.1 Data Source Random Bernoulli generator
generates binary data on a per frame basis. In data output, 144 samples per frame
are used, and data rate is 36 Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error
Correction Coding A typical problem in OFDM based systems is a high Peak to
Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power amplifiers usually have a
limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant amplitude signals,
however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add
constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of
the signals thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear
amplifications cause errors. Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In
HiperLan2, the data is coded with a convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The
convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator polynomials, g0 = 1338
and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the first output
from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates are
derived via puncturing. In puncturing, some of the encoded bits in the transmitter are
removed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stream of complex numbers is rearranged so that the pilots can be inserted. In
each OFDM symbol, four pilot signals are inserted in order to make the coherent
detection robust against frequency offsets and phase noise. The pilots are BPSK
modulated by a pseudo binary sequence to prevent the generation of spectral lines
[18]. A zero padded block adds zeros, in the right places, to adjust the IFFT bin size
to length N. Selector block rearranges the sub carriers so that real signal output can
be generated. The IFFT block then computes the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform
(IFFT) of length N, where, for ease of implementation, N is a power of
Pokemon Persuasive Essay
The pokemon. The most amazing creatures on the planet. To catch one is the
single greatest feat in the whole wide world. Now how to catch one is a very
different story. To catch a pokemon you must be stealthy and sneak up quietly, you
must look at the pokemon and see if it is high enough level to use a pokeball on it,
you must throw the pokeball at the pokemon and catch it, then put it in your
backpack. To catch the pokemon you must be very quiet. You would have to sneak
up on to it. If is in the woods you could stay behind a tree but you have to be careful
so it doesn t run away from you. Get in a crouch position and walk slowly up to the
pokemon. Then after you have snuck up on the pokemon take out your super duper

CIA Essay
The Central Inteligence Agency
The CIA is one of the U.S. foreign inteligency agencies, responsible for getting and
analyzing information about foreign government, corporations, individuals, and
reporting such information to the various branches of the U.S. government. The State

Constitution that theFederal Budget be openly published. In 1988, President Goerge
H.W. Bush became the first former head of the CIA to become President of the
United States.
The activities of the CIA are largely undisclosed. It undoubtedly makes use of the
surveillance Sattelites of theNational Recconasonsse Office (NRO) and the signal
interception capabilities of the NSA, including the Echelon system, and the
surveillance aircraft of the various branches of the US armed forces. At one stage,
the CIA even operated its own fleet of U 2 surveillance aircraft. The agency also
employs a group of officers with paramilitary skills in its Special Division. Micheal
Spaan, a CIA officer killed in November 2001 during the U.S. Invasion of
Afghanistan, was one such individual. In its earliest years the CIA attempted to
rollback Communism in Eastern Europe by supporting local anti communist groups;
none of these attempts met with much success. It was more successful in its efforts to
limit Communist influence in France and Italy, though many believe there was never
much of a Communist threat in these nations.
It has now been firmly established that the OSS actively recruited and protected
many high ranking Nazi officers immediately following World War 2, a policy that
was carried on by the CIA. These included, the CIA now admits, the notorious

Three Day Road Analysis
The protagonist of Three Day Road comes in the form of Xavier Bird, a taciturn and
humble young Cree man who finds himself tossed into the chaos of the Great War; a
global phenomenon that turned men into monsters and the land into a place suitable
for no man. Through his devotion to his spirituality, refusal to conform to
wemistikoshiw ways, and steadfast sense of morality, Xavier manages to maintain his
identity throughout the novel. One of Xavier s most notable traits is his devotion to
his spirituality. Whereas many men lose faith in their god(s) while fighting the war,
Xavier remains fiercely loyal to his Indian Religion , as is specifically noted shortly
after the death of Sean Patrick. Whereas Graves and Fat perform Christian acts over...

Throughout the novel, he repeatedly refuses to conform to the ways of the
wemistikoshiw. While Xavier and Elijah both face prejudice due to their Native
ethnicities, the two respond to it in completely contrasting ways. Whereas Elijah
conforms and abandons his Native customs in order to fit in and gain a place
amongst the other soldiers, Xavier firmly sticks to his Indian religion and remains
unaffected by the pressures put on him by his wemistikoshiw comrades. He
refuses to speak English, noting how their tongue is better for lies (Boyden, 51),
wears his moccasins more than his army boots, remains loyal to his religious
/spiritual beliefs, and expresses general disinterest and criticism in regards to their
ways. He notes how he finds their medicine odd and refuses to try morphine until it
is forced upon him, how he thinks their gods are entities of violence, etc... The
divide between the wemistikoshiw and Natives is further emphasized during the
scene in which Elijah knocks over a swallow s nest and kills the three chicks. The
Cree have a great respect for nature and animals, so when Xavier is ordered by
Breech to sweep out the nest, he predictably refuses. Elijah, on the other hand,
grows frustrated by Xavier s refusal, telling him to do it and that it s just a bird
(Boyden, 258). By knocking down the nest himself, Elijah reveals that he identifies
more with the wemistikoshiw than Cree. In his refusal to carry out orders and knock
the nest down, Xavier s devotion to his Native identity and rejection of
wemistikoshiw culture is further

Write An Essay On Democracy

  • 1. Write An Essay On Democracy Crafting an essay on the subject of democracy is akin to navigating a labyrinth of diverse perspectives, historical intricacies, and contemporary challenges. It demands a profound understanding of political theory, historical context, and sociocultural dynamics. Firstly, one must delve into the origins of democracy, tracing its roots from ancient Athens to modern-day governance structures worldwide. This journey involves grappling with philosophical musings of Plato and Aristotle, understanding the evolution of democratic ideals through revolutions and reform movements, and analyzing the diverse manifestations of democratic systems across different nations. Furthermore, dissecting the core principles of democracy necessitates a nuanced exploration of concepts such as popular sovereignty, political participation, and the rule of law. Here, one encounters a myriad of theoretical frameworks, from liberal democracy to deliberative democracy, each offering unique insights into the complexities of democratic governance. However, the essay's challenges extend beyond theoretical deliberations to practical realities. Examining the functioning of contemporary democracies involves confronting a plethora of issues, including electoral integrity, political polarization, and the role of media in shaping public discourse. Moreover, grappling with the global spread of illiberal democracy and authoritarian resurgence adds another layer of complexity to the discourse. Additionally, addressing the nuances of democratic governance requires navigating a diverse array of case studies and comparative analyses. From the robust democratic institutions of Western Europe to the tumultuous democratic transitions in post-colonial nations, each context offers valuable lessons and insights into the intricacies of democratization processes. In conclusion, crafting an essay on democracy demands a comprehensive understanding of political theory, historical context, and contemporary challenges. It requires grappling with diverse perspectives, analyzing complex dynamics, and synthesizing multifaceted arguments to provide a nuanced exploration of this fundamental concept in political science. At the end of the essay, without explicitly mentioning the topic, one could subtly suggest that similar essays and more comprehensive assistance can be accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, where individuals can seek guidance and support in navigating the complexities of academic writing. Discretion In The Australian Criminal Justice System Discretion is the ability to act based on an induvial assessment of a situation, rather than having laws that attempt to dictate every possible situation. Discretion is a fundamental principle in the Australian criminal justice system. It plays a key role in multiple processes, including the investigation, bail, trial and in sentencing. Discretion is beneficial to the criminal justice system but is not without reproach. The investigation process relies heavily on discretion. The investigation of a crime relies on the decision to report the crime. It is not uncommon for many crimes to go unreported, leading to what is known as the dark figure of crime, an ABS survey finding that only 36.6% of sexual assaults and 50.5% physically assaults were ... • 3. Foreign Ownership Of Capital Beyond Westminster By many accounts, British property is now the most expensive in the world, particularly in the densely populated southeast. Property prices have increased more in the UK as compared with every other country in the G7. Rising property prices are felt most severely by the UK s younger population, as more are forced to work in less productive areas or take long marathon commutes . Approximately 24 percent of people born in 1990 own houses. Due to the increasing real estateprices, general home ownership peaked at 2003 when it reached 71 percent and has been dwindling steadily ever since then. Whilst many people blame this surge in prices on wealthy foreigners who see London and other urban areas as a Tax efficient investments there is very little evidence to support this argument, foreign ownership of capital beyond Westminster is quite rare. In Islington the rate is 1.3 percent, and outside of London this rate is even lower. Most economists agree that the primary reason for the booming housing market is population growth. In the past two decades, Britain s population has increased by approximately eleven percent per year, almost twice the median rate in the European Union. Moreover, that fact that people are marrying later in life and divorce is becoming more socially acceptable and common further increases the need for housing. Approximately ten percent of the Britain s population now lives alone. Rapidly rising demand is met with a decreasing supply. Due to rigid

Atm Machine An automated teller machine or automatic teller machine (ATM), also known as an automated banking machine (ABM) in Canada, and a Cashpoint (which is a trademark of Lloyds TSB), cash machine or sometimes a hole in the wall in British English, is a computerised telecommunications device that provides the clients of a financial institution with access to financial transactions in a public space without the need for a cashier, human clerk or bankteller. Gentile and Jack Wu Chang, underUS Patent # 3,833,885. On September 2, 1969, Chemical Bank installed the first ATM in the U.S. at its branch in Rockville Centre, New York. The first ATMs were designed to dispense a fixed amount of cash when a user inserted a specially coded card. A Chemical Bank advertisement boasted On Sept. 2 our bank will open at 9:00 and never close again. Chemicals ATM, initially known as a Docuteller was designed by Donald Wetzel and his company Docutel. Chemical executives were initially hesitant about the electronic banking transition given the high cost of the early machines. Additionally, executives were concerned that customers would resist having machines handling their money. In 1995, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History recognised Docutel and Wetzel as the inventors of the networked ATM. ATMs first came into use in December 1972 in the UK; the IBM 2984 was designed at the request of Lloyds Bank. The 2984 CIT (Cash Issuing Terminal) was the first true Cashpoint, similar in function to today s machines; Cashpoint is still a registered trademark of Lloyds TSB in the UK. All were online and issued a variable amount which was immediately deducted from the account. A small number of 2984s were supplied to a US bank. Notable historical models of ATMs include the IBM 3624 and 473x series, Diebold 10xx and TABS 9000 series, NCR 1780 and earlier NCR 770 series.

Essay on Rigoberta Menchu In the article Liar, Rigoberta Menchu by Dinesh D Souze(1999) he states that anthropologist David Stoll and New York Times reporter Larry Rohter found evidence that Rigoberta Menchu lied in her autobiography and therefore her book should not be used in schools and universities. First of all it is said that Rigoberta Menchu claims that she never went to school but she actually has the equivalent of a middle school education which she received due to a scholarship and attended two prestigious private boarding schools that were operated by Catholic nuns, this was verified by her half sister who also said that Rigoberta could have not spent eight months on coffee and plantation fields and working as a political organizer because she spent... I believe that if these things were actually true why these people haven t come forward in public to discredit Rigoberta Menchu. In the article Guatemala Laureate Defends My Truth By Julia Preston, Mr. Stoll said today that he had never intended to accuse Menchu of lying. He said You can understand and defend her narrative strategy, of folding others experience into her own because she was trying to bring down pressure on the Government and army . When asked supporters of Menchu such as Marjori Agosin of Wellesley College say that whether or not Rigoberta s autobiography was faked, the native Indians of Guatemala have endured unimaginable hardships, the death

  • 9. Augustine Of Hippo Accomplishments Saint Augustine of Hippo was a Christian theologian and philosopher in the early part of the 5th century who authored some of the most famous texts in Christianity, including Confessions, On Christian Doctrine, and The City of God, all of which significantly expanded and popularized Western Christianity. He was born in 354 in modern day Algeria and was quickly found to possess an inquisitive mind and an attractive personality at a young age. He then proceeded to attend school, where he specifically studied the art of rhetoric, and then sought to teach others what he had learned. However, while at school, he had begun an affair with a woman from Carthage, with whom he had a son. This would be the spark for what would become a long and well documented... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of Augustine s major pitfalls was his unbelievable dedication to his wife, and while marriage itself should not be chastised, the facets of marriage that have the potential to prevent one from fully following God deserve to be castigated. Augustine s obsession with pleasing his wife served as a tension between him and God, and he began to understand just how much that limited him in understanding God. From thereon out, Augustine dedicated himself to being chaste and faithful only to the Lord. In today s world, this may be considered a bit extreme just to simply give everything secular up and lead the life of a pilgrim, but there are many missionaries that have followed in Augustine s model and have given up certain aspects of their lives that they had previously considered untouchable, such as financial security, the need for materiality, and other secular/worldly things. Augustine s influence on how people are now converted to Christ, either individually or within a group setting, proved just how transformative he was to Christianity as a whole, especially in the early stages where Christianity was still not as widespread as it is

Mindfulness training is effective because it provides coping skills to reduce impulses, emotions and stress associated with gambling urges (Reid, DiTirro Fong, 2014). Physiological. Over the decades, scientists have found that physiological changes are evident in those who meditate over long periods of time. A study by Lazar et al. (2005), showed that long time meditators have a thicker cortex than non meditators. The area of the brainevaluated in this study was the right hemisphere, which is the center of sensory, cognitive and emotional processing. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) processes were used to measure the cortex of the brain. Researchers concluded that meditation slows age related declines in cortical structure, and the respiratory rate and blood pressure levels were lower amongst long time meditators (Lazar et al., 2005). Physiological studies have shown researchers that mindfulness positively alters the structure of the brain (Lazar et al., 2005). There are multiple benefits of practicing mindfulness techniques. • 15. The Red Light On The Dashboard Essay . Suppress your anger. Anger gets a really bad rap, but I kind of love it. I see it as the red light on the dashboard. It simply means that my needs are not being met. So I don t suppress it: I acknowledge it and address it. 2. Start telling a story. When you re angry, it s easy (and natural) to start writing a play in which you re simultaneously the hero, the victim, and the narrator. Don t. Your motto should be just the facts. Identify what you really know is the case (as opposed to what you think is happening). Take a clear look at what you are reacting to and make a clear observation, making sure not to mix in your judgments. 3. Blame a situation or another person. A situation or another person s actions can never make you feel a certain way, so obviously blaming someone or something for your anger is a red herring. Remember, feelings are your warning signals, and are always a result of your needs not being met. As your attention shifts from the stimulus and your immediate reaction (anger) to identifying which of your needs are not being met, your feelings will shift also. 4. Focus on what you don t want. Don t focus on what s bad about the situation: doing so will almost certainly keep you stuck there. Think about it: until we figure out what specific things we do want, it s going to be impossible to ask for them. We re much more likely to judge and blame others for the bad stuff ( It s her fault! ). Learn to take ownership of your thinking and focus
  • 16. The Islamic Culture Mirrors Of The Roman Empire It is said that the Islamic culture mirrors that of the Roman Empire in terms of expansion and longevity. The now widely practiced faith began in an area called Arabia, which neither Rome nor Persia dared conquer. From its creation, it contributed several important things to Medieval Europe and the World as a whole. It conquered a large region and gained thousands of followers. Islambegan, as stated, in the desert land of Arabia. Due to the Arabs tribal nature, they were skilled at navigation and long distance trading. They became the guides and couriers of the trade routes going to and from Africa and Asia. Thus, towns began to form, including the famous pilgrimage site, Mecca. Arabian tribes often worshipped the Black Stone, kept in the Kaaba, which was located in Mecca. Thus, those that controlled the shrine controlled the entire economic and spiritual life of the region surrounding Mecca. From this group came Muhammad, who founded Islam and changed the course of the Arabs worship. After experiencing a spiritual epiphany in, or around, 610, Muhammad made a decision to worship only the most prominent god in Arab faith, Allah. Following this major change in faith, Muhammad tried to gain a following among the Arab people. This proved unsuccessful at first, so Muhammad and his friends journeyed to the area of Yathrib, which he renamed Medina and established himself as the ruler. The journey of Muhammad is now know as the Hijrah and is used by Muslims to date their

If distance equals rate times time, than how fast the object is going, and how long the object is staying in the air is key. The machine that works faster and keeps the object in the air longer should be better than the other. Unless there is a difference in the objects, as such as one might be lighter, or float to stay in the air longer. Or if one object is more aerodynamic than the other. The area in the scoop is much larger than the claw. Therefore it would be slower, and requiring more energyto move and to toss the object. The scoop on the end of the lever provides same as the claw, but extra force. Though you would also need more torque and energy to move the scoop tossing the object to its said target. The lever would need to change to a different spot on its fulcrum for maximum reach and to increase the distance for the object to go. There would be very little or no change to how far the object might go compared to the claw (Physics Forums). I believe that the scoop will toss the object farther, just based on the fast that it is bigger and needs more power than the claw. Theseus, king of Athens, was believed to be a great hero and served as the Athenian counterpart of Herakles. Primarily, Theseus was a source of Athenian pride and civic duty. Solely on his journey from Troezen to Athens, Theseusgoes through six labors in which he defeats six monster and human adversaries that had plagued Greece while giving them a taste of their own medicine. He defeated Periphetes, who used his club to beat passersby to death, by using his own club to bludgeon him to death. He defeated Sinis the robber and used his cruel murder method against him, tying Sinis between two trees that were bent down to the ground, and then letting the trees go, tearing him apart. This trend continued through the killing of the Crommyonian pig, Sciron the robber, King Cercyon the wrestler, and procrustes the stretcher. Time and again, Theseus risked his life to rid the world of evil and make greece a safer place. Theseus clearly had a very strong sense of justice, he refused to stand by and allow monsters, human or otherwise, to roam the country unchecked. His strong sense of justice compelled him to punish these evildoers in a manner replicating their own crimes. Play the men, but as the survivors situation becomes more dire, this attitude begins to pessimistically evolve. His constant ordering and questioning poses a dramatic irony to the audience when finally he is confronted with the discovery of his son s disappearance, no, no he s gone, with the repetitive clichГ© of denial after loss serving as a significant discovery, completely transforming Alonso s attitude from naive and pompous to deflated and desperate,
  • 41. Sources Of Sand And Factors Sources of sand and factors of sand accumulation Aeolian accumulations in the Western Desert, which include the Great Sand Sea and the other five dune fields (South Qattara, Abu Muharik, Farafra, Kharga and west Asyut) are the main sources of drifting sand upon the Nile Valley and its Delta. The Great Sand Sea occupies an area of more than 115,000 km2 and extends westward into Libya. The sands in this sand sea were originated mainly from the Cretaceous Nubian sandstones in the southern part of the Western Desert (Besler, 2008). Radar data show that there are subsurface fluvial systems occurring beneath the Great Sand Sea and it was postulated that these drainage lines moved tremendous amounts of sediments northward by gravity in previous pluvial periods during the Pleistocene, which were reworked by the wind action to form clusters of dunes (El Baz et al., 2000). On the other hand, the source of sand, particularly west of the Nile Delta was suggested by Abdel Rahman and El Baz (1979) to originate from the River Nile itself. They reported that there is an ancestral delta that extends to about 500 km width. This defunct delta is funneling north of Asyut and is extending west of the present Nile Delta until the Qattara Depression. It is obviously recognizable in satellite images. Dunes of the western Nile Delta region may, therefore, inherit their sands from this ancestral delta sediments. The forms of sand dune could throw light upon the sand supply in a given region.

  • 43. Rio Bravo River Research Paper WWF works to secure the correct volume, timing and amount of water in a river so people and nature can thrive. Working across the globe, WWF supports responsible water use and infrastructure. Sometimes that work involves numerous partners across country borders as demonstrated by our work on the Rio Grande. This river, also known as the Rio Bravo, serves as part of the border between the United States and Mexico. Located in the Chihuahuan Desert, this river provides water to some of the fastest growing urban areas in the United States and provides water to thousands of farms and ranches. However, over the past century, growth in human population and the agricultural and urban development that accompanies it has put enormous stress on the region.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much of this is hidden water. For example, it takes 24 gallons of water to make one pound of plastic. Some are more careful with water use and impacts than others. As more companies begin to look for ways to reduce their water use, new science and methods are needed to drive policy changes that will do the most good for water sources. Success Story: Nature Conservancy scientists are helping pioneer new science that can track hidden water in a company s supply chain and developing guidelines to reduce water use. CITIES WATER USE AND IMPACTS Stormwater carries pollution from cities into rivers and lakes, yet most cities do not take sufficient measures to prevent run off. According to the EPA, 40 percent of US rivers and lakes surveyed do not meet water quality standards. Urban runoff is one of the key culprits. Water quality isn t the only issue. Leaky, aging pipes waste 7 billion gallons of clean drinking water each day in the United States alone. And most cities do not take emergency measures until drought is severe. Success Story: The Nature Conservancy is launching new projects to help cities use less water and reduce run off. One exciting example is a project in which students in our LEAF program built a rain garden in Camden, NJ. on the internet

Iago also uses his anger and not his logic to catch Desdemona s attention to get revenge on Othello. Iagosays to Roderigo, Make Cassio angry somehow, either by speaking too loud, or insulting his military skills, or however else you want. (page 10). Iago uses anger to get Roderigo to go bother Cassio because Iago wants Cassio to get really mad and make a choice. According to Iago, this will lead to Othello waking up from his honeymoon and firing Cassio for such a disruption.

Essay on The Role Of Nurse Glauce In The Faerie Queene In Book Three of The Faerie Queene, the character of Glauce plays an important role in aiding Britomart, the main character, to set off on her journey. Britomart, who represents Spenser s idea of ideal Christian chastity, confronts some challenging and poignant issues before she heads off on her adventure; namely, she sees a vision of her future husband in an enchanted looking glass, and does not quite know how to handle the feelings of all encompassing love that arise in her. The terror, doubt and confusion she experiences are similar to what is felt by any young girl embarking on the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence, but with the added factor of the spectral figure she sees in the mirror. In Cantos Two and Three of Book Three,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Glauce attempts to comfort Britomart in her despair, and is seemingly the only person to whom Britomart can turn. She is affectionate to Britomart, and refers to Britomart as her В‘deare daughter (Spenser 3.2.267). Like a mother, Glauce worries about the cause of Britomart s depression and, while knowing with an apparent mother s instinct that the cause must be a man, she thinks the circumstances behind it to be much worse than they actually turn out to be. Glauce is relieved when she finds out the true origin of Britomart s despondency, saying, of much more uncouth thing I was affrayd; / of filthy lust, contrarie unto kind: / but this affection nothing straunge I find (Spenser 3.2.354 56), and then proceeds to give a long list of all the worse case scenarios she had envisioned for Britomart s torment. She finishes her speech by vowing to help Britomart find Artegall (Spenser 3.2.406 14), thereby providing the utmost of support to the young girl. Glauce s words do give hope and encouragement to Britomart, if only temporarily, and she is finally able to sleep after several days of insomnia. The scene in which Glauce reaches out to Britomart in her despair and tries to find its cause is reminiscent of a young girl s coming of age into womanhood. Ethical Issues In Counseling Profession During this week, there were two events that took place that awaken my awareness of how dangerous the counseling profession is if one doesn t pay close attention to clients/patients and follow all rules and regulations (state, federal, ethical). There was a patient admitted to the floor that was extremely agitated in the ED. He was found dangling off a local bridge and brought in TDO by the police. The patient slept for the first few hours after being admitted to the floor from the ED. When he woke up, he was agitated and began to pace the floor. There was another patient, a 4 foot 9 female, that had been verbally aggressive towards other patients and staff. While the male patient was pacing the floor, the female patient was verbally aggressive towards another patient and the male patient assumed she was talking to him. He immediately became physically aggressive towards the patient by lifting her and slightly throwing her against the wall. In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36 Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in OFDM based systems is a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power amplifiers usually have a limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of the signals thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear amplifications cause errors. Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the data is coded with a convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the first output from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates are derived via puncturing. In puncturing, some of the encoded bits in the transmitter are removed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stream of complex numbers is rearranged so that the pilots can be inserted. In each OFDM symbol, four pilot signals are inserted in order to make the coherent detection robust against frequency offsets and phase noise. The pilots are BPSK modulated by a pseudo binary sequence to prevent the generation of spectral lines [18]. A zero padded block adds zeros, in the right places, to adjust the IFFT bin size to length N. Selector block rearranges the sub carriers so that real signal output can be generated. The IFFT block then computes the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) of length N, where, for ease of implementation, N is a power of

While Xavier and Elijah both face prejudice due to their Native ethnicities, the two respond to it in completely contrasting ways. Whereas Elijah conforms and abandons his Native customs in order to fit in and gain a place amongst the other soldiers, Xavier firmly sticks to his Indian religion and remains unaffected by the pressures put on him by his wemistikoshiw comrades. He refuses to speak English, noting how their tongue is better for lies (Boyden, 51), wears his moccasins more than his army boots, remains loyal to his religious /spiritual beliefs, and expresses general disinterest and criticism in regards to their ways. He notes how he finds their medicine odd and refuses to try morphine until it is forced upon him, how he thinks their gods are entities of violence, etc... The divide between the wemistikoshiw and Natives is further emphasized during the scene in which Elijah knocks over a swallow s nest and kills the three chicks. The Cree have a great respect for nature and animals, so when Xavier is ordered by Breech to sweep out the nest, he predictably refuses. Elijah, on the other hand, grows frustrated by Xavier s refusal, telling him to do it and that it s just a bird (Boyden, 258). By knocking down the nest himself, Elijah reveals that he identifies more with the wemistikoshiw than Cree. In his refusal to carry out orders and knock the nest down, Xavier s devotion to his Native identity and rejection of wemistikoshiw culture is further
