Against Affirmative Action Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Against Affirmative Action" can be a challenging task, as it
involves navigating through sensitive and controversial issues. The subject itself is multifaceted,
touching on matters of race, equality, and justice. Crafting a compelling argument against
affirmative action requires a deep understanding of the historical context, legal implications, and
social dynamics surrounding this policy.
One of the difficulties lies in presenting a nuanced perspective that acknowledges the historical
injustices that affirmative action seeks to address while critiquing the potential drawbacks and
unintended consequences. Striking the right balance between acknowledging the need for equity
and arguing against specific affirmative action policies without appearing insensitive or
dismissive can be a delicate task.
Moreover, the topic is often emotionally charged, with individuals holding strong opinions on
both sides. Crafting an essay that maintains a respectful and rational tone while engaging with
opposing viewpoints is a formidable challenge. It requires careful research, a thorough
examination of various perspectives, and the ability to construct a well-reasoned argument that
withstands scrutiny.
The complexity of the subject also demands a deep dive into legal and ethical considerations.
Understanding the constitutional aspects and the evolving legal landscape surrounding
affirmative action is crucial for constructing a well-informed and persuasive essay. Addressing
the ethical implications of affirmative action policies and their impact on different communities
adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, writing an essay against affirmative action necessitates a delicate balance between
acknowledging historical injustices and presenting a well-reasoned critique of specific policies. It
involves navigating through emotionally charged terrain, engaging with diverse perspectives, and
delving into legal and ethical considerations. Success in crafting such an essay requires thorough
research, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Elementary School Recess
Children in elementary schools all over the United States long for the moment that
they are released to go to recess. It is a time for them to let loose, relax, and simply
refresh their minds to get ready for the rest of the day. However, school boards as
well as teachers around the country have begun to cut back on recess time or, in
some cases, eliminate it completely in order to maximize educational intake . The
obvious benefit of the use of recess is physical enrichment, however there are many
other crucial outcomes involved with recess. Recess is a pivotal piece in the
development of a child s focus, ability to retain informations, and social skills, which
are several reasons as to why recess should be implemented in elementary schools...

According to an article from AAP News Journals, after recess, for children or after
a corresponding break time for adolescents, students are more attentive and better
able to perform cognitively (Murray). This shows that students who are given a
recess can soak up the given information better than those who are not. In turn, this
allows students to be more successful in the classroom due to information being
easily retained. This demonstrated in places such as Finland and China who have
very successful education systems. These places have some of the most highly
ranked schools in the world. As stated in an article by Alia Wong, Finnish kids get
more than an hour of recess every day and East Asian countries like China the land of
nine hour school days and weekend cram classes most schools give kids a 10 or even
20 minute break after each class, or about every hour. As previously stated above,
these parts of the world have the most renowned school systems, but they also allow
kids a lot of time for breaks. Student success in the classroom is largely impacted by
the use of recess in
View Into A Hall With A Girl Analysis
GabriГ«l Metsu is a Dutch painter from the seventeenth century, which is known as
the (Dutch Golden Age). His works consist of still lives, portraits, history, and
genre. One of his paintings is called View Into a Hall with a Jester, a Girl, and her
Dog which is painted around 1667. This genre painting depicts a view through a
hallway from the door with a jester, a girl and her dog. Metsu uses elements of art and
principles of design such as colour, texture, harmony, rhythm, space, shape, and
gradation to give the illusion that the viewers are part of the scene and enhances the
subject matters to look realistic. Looking at the painting, immediately the viewers
will encounter one of the first subject matter, the girl. In this composition, the... Show

Metsu uses the element of art, space, to create a three dimensional space in the
composition. As a result, the illusion of depth is given to make the painting look
realistic. He uses several elements such as line, colour, shape, and even principles
such as harmony, rhythm, and gradation to enrich the element of space. These
aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in
foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu
creates the optical illusion of a three dimensional space on a two dimensional
surface through the floor tiles. For example, the shapes of the floor tiles in the
foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the background and the colour
values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get darker in the
background. Since this painting mimics a three dimensional space, the details of the
floor tiles get blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a
principle of design, on the floor. The floor tile lines direct the viewer s eyes to the
end of the hall. Principles such as gradation and harmony are displayed on the floor
tiles through elements including shape, colour, and space. In addition, Metsu
positions the girl in the foreground overlapping the door. This demonstrates the
actual size of the girl, which is relative to the size of the lady in the background. In
addition, the girl in the foreground

The Use of Narratives to Express the Religious Beliefs of People in Western Religions
For the layman, familiarity with the major religions stems from the stories that are
associated with them. Using the narratives that are derived from the sacred texts is
the most prominent way in which our society identifies the Westernreligions. The
Jewish tradition is best correlated to stories like the Exodus and the parting of the
Red Seas, for example, as are the many tales of the miracles of Jesus connected to
Christianity. This essay will present narratives as an easy method of providing the
basic groundwork for the Western religious traditionsof Judaism, Christianity, and
Islam because of their simplicity and easily transmittable nature. ... Show more

Therefore, the holy day of Sabbath is it is known for Jews and Christians, is absent
in Islam. God was not weary from the act of creation, and oversaw all that he had
created, rather. This could be seen as part of the belief in Islam that the Koran is a
correction to the previous religions of Judaism and Christianity, and that the holy
scriptures were somehow corrupted in their present form.
In the Western tradition, primarily in the United States where Christianity prevails,
the story of creation from Genesis is held in high regard, and controversies have
erupted disputing whether or not its fundamentals should be taught in school. The
founding of this nation through the Constitution was erected with the belief of
separation of church and state. In the conservative 1920s, a huge court case erupted
from the dispute between the Christian creationism and the scientific founding of
Charles Darwin s evolution. The Scopes Monkey trial of 1925 saw a schoolteacher
found guilty of teaching evolution in the classroom, a theory that flabbergasted
fundamentalist Christians who perceived it ludicrous that humans could have
descended from monkeys. The narrative tradition of the Genesis creation was
evidently a central issue for Americans and typified the Christian identity in the U.S.
at a time when modernism was emerging, as the fourteen states had anti Evolution
statutes.
According to the first account of creation in Genesis, God made man on the sixth
Informative Speech For Animal Rights
Specific Purpose: I want to educate my audience on the various animal rights
organizations and what they stand for.
Thesis Sentence: I will discuss some information about specific animal rights
organizations and how they have impacted the world and the lives of many animals.
Introduction
Hello everyone. My name is Saniyah Foster and I am currently enrolled in
introduction to speech at Columbia College. Growing up my family has always
taught me to be kind to animals and we were surrounded by many of them
throughout my childhood. Being a lover of animals I ve always supported the efforts
of organizations fighting for the lives of animals.
Body
I.People for the Ethical Treatment of Animalsor PETA for short is the largest animal
rights organization in the world.
A.It was established in 1980 and devoted all their time and energy into protecting the
rights of every animal including wildlife.
B.PETA s main principle is that Animals are not ours to consume, wear, experiment
on, or for the use of our entertainment. In layman s terms, animals should be able live
their lives without interference from humans.
C.They concentrate on the four major areas where animals are victimized: factory
farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and the entertainment industry.
1.In 1981 PETA went undercover in a Maryland research facility where they found
the torturing of numerous Silver Spring monkeys. This became the first police raid to
ever occur.
2.Their slogan Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur came into fruition when protesters
campaigned on the streets of Tokyo in front of a Japanese fur expo.
(Transition: PETA is one of many foundations that strive to be a voice for animals
being the savior that they need.)

The Building A Prison For Those Who Didn t Quality Essay
Upon arrived to TALA, I was greeted by an astonishing monumental architecture.
The symmetry of the building was elegant and well complimented by its weathered
look. It is difficult to imagine that this very building had once housed the mentally
ill. I had never seen such a facility before and thus expected something less
remarkable. As I stood admiring the building, I noticed the multitude of windows
it contained. Upon further examination, I noticed the bars surrounding them and
suddenly realized that the illusion of paradise was in reality a prison for those who
dwelled here. I was surprised to learn how many people were housed in this
building and likewise shocked to discover what passed as mentally insane during
the 19th century. The criteria used to determine mental illness were nonexistent and
arbitrary. I was extremely concerned when the tour guide mentioned kids being
born and raised in TALA. It was also distressing to learn that people who didn t
quality as having mental problems were also placed into such a facility. In contrast,
it was interesting to learn that the community had openly embraced TALA as part of
their home to the extent that a high school prom was held inside the building. This
helped me to recognize that TALA was more than just an insane asylum, it was truly
home to those living inside and outside its walls. As I progressed through the tour, I
discovered that I was unaware of the many practices of insane asylums, especially the
methods used in
Lord Of The Flies Leadership Analysis
What qualities make someone a good leader? In Lord of the Flies who demonstrates
this role of being a leader, and how is it being displayed? A leader is someone who
has the ability to take control and charge of a group. A leader is there to guide,
manage, and provide assistance to a group in a specific situation. In William Goldings
novelLord of the Flies, the character of Ralph is a good leader. He displays specific
characteristics that define a good leader. By possessing the ability to show initiative,
responsibility, courage and determination on the island, transforms him into the
remarkable leader he is. Without Ralph s leadershipskills, the boys may have not been
able to survive during their time on the island.
Ralph as the leader on the island shows much initiative. He takes a great deal of
control and is usually the first to step up in a situation to benefit the safety of
everyone on the island. You hunters! You can laugh! But I tell you smoke is more
important than the pig, however often you kill one. Do all of you see? He spread
his arms wide and turned to the whole triangle. We ve got to make smoke up there
or die. (Golding, 86 87). This quote displays how Ralph is attempting to maintain
order and civilized behaviour. By being the first to tell them what to do and by
showing initiative and by setting goals for the boys to follow, he prepares practical
plans that will help the boys get rescued. He is trying to tell them what do to help
save them so they
Sunrise Film Techniques
Sunrise is a film directed by director F.W.Murnau that some might argue is more of
a classic love story but I am going to show you why this is more of a horror film
instead. Sunrise had a hint of love in it indeed but it contains plot of murder as
well as attempt of murder twice. It also contains a very controlling character that
show hints of being evil or monster like in her personality as well as her
appearance. The director used the camera angle, camera movement, as well as
lighting to show why this is more of a dark and chilling story and I will explain why.
The first obvious clue to the viewers that this might be more of a horror film than a
love film is the very controlling a devil like character that we get introduced to very
early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We get a little bit of everything in this film such as creepy locations and camera
angle that shows darkness to a shot or characters true feeling or intention.
F.W.Murnau used a variety of ways to show the horror prospective in this film. in
the beginning we see the husband meeting his lover in a dark and creepy moon lit
swamp. In an edit sequence we get a trailing shot of the husband walking through
the very dark and gloomy swap with a slouch posture and hands in his pockets, we
also hear a very slow and creepy soundtrack playing in the background giving the
audiences a chilling feels to it. Then we see that he walks out of the frame and the
camera keeps going and stops on a shot of the city woman standing near some
bushes with a very bright and high moon in the background. This is where we can
draw a clear conclusion that the location is imposed on us to give a feeling of
sadness or evil sin that they are about to commit in this isolated part of the farm.
He uses high angles several time through the film as well to show the shadows of
darkness on characters face and give them a monster like appearance. We see a
perfect example of this in the shot of a close up of the husband face at a high angle
and low light in the boat when he is about to stand up to kill his wife. We see the
dark shadow in his face and his slouched Frankenstein posture as he moves his eye
on his wife about to kill her. He used these cinematic techniques to show character
emotions and implement the horror prospective in the film and these are clear
reasons why some might say this is more horror than a classic love story of two

Public Enemies Movie Analysis
Director Michael Mann releases his movie Public Enemy to the public on July 1,
2009. This nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny
Depp) fascinates the viewers with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold
bravery of his gangster style bank robberies during the Depression era of America s
greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), Pretty
Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), and Evelyn Billie
Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal agents with
their burglaries through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J.
Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) as America s first Public Enemy Number One,
Dillinger s brashness erupted even more. The enlistment of FBI s top agent, Melvin
Purvis (Christian Bale), gave the instructional task of bringing in this charismatic and
troubling evildoer Dillinger dead or alive.
Nevertheless, this movie introduced us to this charming character Dillinger. The
comparison and contrast of the true realities verses the movie actually handles the
injustices differently than what the screen displays. Drama, bad boy image, lovers,
and reckless abandonment of the law lures us to an unrealistic reality to the
Blood Flow Analysis
If you want to get a stiffer erection or you are suffering from erection problems, you
need to boost blood flow to and into the penis. A hard erection relies on extra blood
in the penis and here, we will look at the natural way to increase blood flow into the
penis.
There are many foods which increase blood flow around the body and banana s oily
fish (salmon mackerel salmon and sardines) and onions, so try and get one of these
foods everyday and if you are cooking, use ginger, garlic and chillies, there all tasty

The Souls Of Black Folk By. B Du Bois
The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B Du Bois, is an article on a African American
living in the United States. In this piece of literature Du Bois harshly portrays the
personal and third person accounts African American struggles during a period of
slavery. The author uses many songs to depict the cruel life in four essays. In this
piece Du Bois coins two main terms, double consciousness and the Veil. Overall the
author provides the reader how the twentieth century is the problem of the color
line and with stories and situations that the black man experiences throughout the
period of reform. Double consciousness would be the idea that African Americans
living in the Untied States feel like they are living in two different conflicted
identities. The problem with these two different identities is that they cannot merge
together, due to how different they both are. First identity would be the black
identity, and the second would be the American identity. The first one would be the
personal identity, which that person is and the American identity is when the
black man was born only because of the historical leftovers of slavery. Along with
this idea is the veil. This describes that African Americans are living life being
behind a veil, because they are able to understand what life is like for white people
outside of and within their group, but it is difficult for white people to fully
understand what it is like living in a black persons body. The essay then continues to

Three Types Of Linear And Planar Structured Donor ( D )...
Three types of linear and planar structured donor (D) acceptor (A) type alternating
copolymers were synthesized by incorporating intrachain noncovalent Coulomb
interactions, based on 2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4
bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene and benzothiadiazole (BT) moieties. The chain
linearity and systematic adjustment of interchain organization was achieved by the
incorporation of different number of electronegative fluorine atoms onto BT, which
significantly affected the frontier energy levels, film morphology, and the resulting
charge transport properties. Bimodal semi crystalline orientation and charge carrier
transport properties were studied by grazing incidence wide angle X ray scattering
(GIWAXS) and polymerfiled effect transistor (PFET) characteristics measurements.
The hole mobility as high as 0.1 cm2/Vs in PFET was measured for poly(2,5
bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene alt 4,7 (5,6 difluoro
2,1,3 benzothiadiazole)) (PPDTT2FBT), suggesting a strong self organization in the
linear configuration with conformation lock with the help of fluorine atoms. The
linear and difluorinated PPDTT2FT also showed the highest power conversion
efficiency (PCE, 6.4%) by blending with PC71BM, but showed a poorer photovoltaic
performance compared to the wavy structured counterpart, PPDT2FBT, reported
previously. The mainly edge on orientation of PPDTT2FT and poor blend film
morphology attributed to the moderate PCE in the blends. Fine modulation

The Scapegoat In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Numerous critics have carefully discussed Shirley Jackson s The Lottery in terms of
the scapegoat traditions of anthropology and literature, pointing out its obvious
comment on the innate savagery of man lurking beneath his civilized trappings. Most
acknowledge the power of the story, admitting that the psychological shock of the
ritual murder in an atmosphere of modern, small town normality cannot be easily
forgotten. Nevertheless, beneath the praise of these critics frequently runs a current
of uneasiness a sense of having been defrauded n some way by the development of
the story on a whole.

symbology. Martin, Bobby s surname, derives from a Middle English word
signifying ape or monkey. This, juxtaposed with Harry Jones (in all its

Hairy Ape within us all, veneered by a Christianity as perverted as Delacroix,
vulgarized to Dellacroy by the villagers. Horribly, at the end of the story, it will be
Mrs. Delacroix, warm and friendly in her natural state, who will select a stone so
large she had to pick it up with both hands and will encourage her friends to follow
suit. Nebeker concludes every major name in the story has its special
Similarities Between Game Of Roses And War Of The Roses
A Marriage between Roses and Thrones
A marriage is usually perceived as two people in love and bind themselves together
with an unbreakable bond. However, in the medieval age, political marriages were
more often than a love between couples. Both the Wars of the Roses and HBO s
Game of Thrones, political marriages occur in order to lead to personal gain and
conduct strategic planning for one s kingdom. In HBO s Game of Thrones, a scene
from season 3, episode 5 shows Tywin, Tyrion, and Cersei discussing marriages in a
manner which exemplifies the significance of political marriages compared to the
Wars of the Roses, between Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI, especially through
close up shots, lighting, and sound. When watching the fifth episode of season 3 of
Game of Thrones, Tyrion, Tywin, and Cersei discuss how they can use marriages
so the Lannisters can secure the North and it can be done if Tyrion marries Sansa
Stark. This is comparable to Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI. Margaret of Anjou
marries Henry VI and thus as stated in The War of the Roses, Marrying Henry to
the French king s niece seemed to serve two greater purposes: it would bring
England a diplomatic and military truce in the French wars and it would enable
Henry and Margaret to rebuild the dwindling stock of the English royal family.
(Jones 84). As seen, the two of them getting married would give them exactly what
they need to get a truce between the two countries and kings. Similarly, if Tyrion

Another way Pi was able to survive through his harsh times was by learning how to

The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint
I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in
Corfu Island, Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13
years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female
between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were
believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found
with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity.
Philomena s father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian
fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to
torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and
shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she
survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a
prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and
they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and
stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her
virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died
at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination
for the patron of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope
Gregory XVI named

Honda in Europe(
INTRODUCTION
The Honda Motor Company first entered the European market in the early 1960s
through the sale of its motorcycles. The company s motor vehicles were introduced
into Europe at a much later date. Honda s motor vehicle sales in Europe have been
relatively poor, especially in the previous five years. Despite its huge success in the
North American market, Honda is struggling to gain a significant foothold in the
European market. Honda executives wonder why their global strategy is sputtering.
Is global strategy just a pipedream, or is something wrong with Honda s European
strategy?

Honda entered the European market rather late, and its first production facility in
the region was built in 1992, at a time when Honda was still only a minor player in
the Japanese market. Prior to 1992, Honda Europe was forced to import its vehicles
from the US, making it impossible for the company to aggressively attack the
European market. One of the most important reasons for the lack of success was that
the European market was highly saturated with locally owned car manufacturers.
Companies such as Saab, Volvo, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, DM, Opel, Renault,
Peugeot and Fiat have been dominating the European market for a considerable
number of years. In addition, other foreign companies, such as Toyota, Nissan, Ford
and Hyundai make the European market extremely competitive. In 2001,
Volkswagen was ranked number one in Europe with 17.6% of the market and
Peugeot number 2 with 15.8%. Renault, Ford, Fiat, GM had approximately 10% of
the market each, and Toyota, BMW, and Audi had a market share in the region of 5%.
Honda captured only 2.4% of the European market. The competitive industry map
below shows Honda s current position in the European automobile market.
Brand Image in Europe
The Honda brand image in Europe is relatively weak and the product line is narrow
compared to the other major players in the market. The company needs to expand its
sales and production to survive in global scale
Tay-Sachs Disease Research Paper
Tay Sachs disease is an autosomal recessive disease of lysosome storage
characterized by progressive neurologic degeneration. Children affected by Classic
Infatile Tay Sachs disease manifest the first symptoms at around 6 months and die
before reaching 5 years of age. The signs and symptoms are severe including deafness,
blindness, dementia, and recurrent convulsions during the terminal stage when
affected children are confined. When symptoms appear in adolescence or early
adulthood, this is called the Late onset TaySachs disease(chronic form), a rare variant
phenotype. A juvenile form is also distinguished, with an intermediate presentation.
This appears between ages two to five, but can occur anytime in childhood. This
disease was named

In this report, we determine the scheduling issues of shifts faced by the CLT
members, analyzing them and making recommendations to the management.
Problem Diagnosis A new calendar was prepared by the management of Zappos at
the start of each month and this was based on the projected incoming calls and the
internal growth forecasts of the company. All the employees working under the
CLT had to bid for the time slots, however, all those employees that had more
experience and had a long history of working for the company were given priority
in selecting their time slots for the shifts they wanted to work in. However, not all
the employees agreed that this was the most appropriate basis for allocating the
time slots or the shifts to the CLT workers. There were around 500 workers
working within the customer loyalty team and they provided an exceptionally high
level of customer service at Zappos. All the employees in the younger tribe needed
to first abide by the 10 core values and continue to be humble and wait for their turn.
However, all the employees were not satisfied with this approach which is the
primary problem in this case. Case Analysis Before analyzing the staffing and other
related issues, we discuss the strategy and competitive dimensions of Zappos. Zappos

Major Themes In Tangerine
What is your favorite type of book? Romance, Adventure, Fantasy, etc.? Yet, these
books don t only contain the story, they contain themes that the wise listen to. Every
story, every book, every tale, and every movie have a purpose or a theme written
mixed in with the plot the spice of writing. The novel Tangerine, a book about the
main character s(Paul) journey on figuring out how he got blind, is no different.
Edward Bloorwrote this book about the valuable and wise lesson about the theme,
seeing and not seeing. In this novel, there are many characters, such as Paul, and his
parents, that see or don t see figurately and literately characters of Tangerine are

Now, there is one special type of seeing seeing into the future. Seeing into the
future is not going to a fake fortuneteller and asking them to see into the future,
rather it means making important choices by what is right, not what is easy. We
wanted to find a way to keep you from always hating your brother is one example
where Paul s parent fail or are blind to see the effects. They thought it would best
not to punish Erick and have Paul hate himself for looking into a solar eclipse their
excuse on what happen to Paul s eyes. They were blind to see the ripples their
choice had on the timeline; it was the turning point in the timeline of the book. If
they had confronted Erick and punish him, much of the book wouldn t have
happened. For example, Erick would have never killed Lucius or done any robbery.
Paul would have never had to live the life of fear and intimadation, rather friendship
and brotherhood with Erick. Just not making the right choices, or not seeing into the
future, you can ruin the life of your love ones. From now on, make the right choices
and live a good life or make the easy choices and suffer from the
Gargoyles Research Paper
Gargoyles were defining elements of the Gothic period, constructed primarily by
Elliot Viollet Le Duc in the 19th century as part of a restoration project of the Notre
Dame Cathedral. Gargoyles served as a political commentary of the times, and a
functional purpose of protecting the Cathedral. The most iconic gargoyle, the
Pensive Demon, sits atop Notre Dame Cathedral s South tower. This statue is
actually a chimera, not a gargoyle, since it isn t functional to the building and is
purely decor. Also referred to as the Melancholy Demon or Le Stryge, which
according to mythology, is a half woman, half bird demon that seeks to harm children,
found prominently in cemeteries . Le Stryge was made in the 19th century during
which time a hierarchy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the middle ages, gargoyles were the subject of pagan and demonic conversation
, but for Viollet le Duc they represented salvation, protection, and the soul of the
building. Gargoyles that sat near the great bells provided amplification of sound
when they went off, an important function that told citizens when to awake or
pray . Viollet le Duc was appalled at the actions of the rebels that recklessly tore
down the old gargoyles and replaced them with lead pipes, which proved
ineffective and caused significant water damage to the cathedral. Gargoyles
served a very important purpose of steering water out of the cathedral along with
being artistically sound. While researching, Viollet le Duc realized how useful it
is to multiply gargoyles in masses so that the drainage system would be perfected.
Limestone was a material that could be cut into long, thin shapes and would
further accentuate decorative qualities of the gargoyles, along with helping to
anchor the building and provide extra support . Viollet le Duc insisted on proving
the gargoyles functionality to a point of absurdity. He created gargoyles that held
pots to further steer water away. He also formulated canopies for the gargoyles,
during a time where canopies were reserved for saints and holy purposes. Viollet le
Duc either found his gargoyles to be sacred, or he was further making fun of
religion and its symbolism and his distaste for it . All of these elements prove a point
that Viollet le Duc s main goal was preservation of the structure after restoration, and
he found gargoyles to be the most modern and functional elements of its gothic
The Death Of Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet essay
Romeo and Juliet are the most famous couple. Throughout history, critics have
debated who was most culpable in the death of Romeo and Juliet. Some have
blamed characters who acted from position of authority. Romeo and Capulet parents
are the ones to blame for the death of the young lovers. First In the tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet people are blaming Romeo because he was one of the reasons that
made Juliet want to kill herself. Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party but his
presence there fuels Tybalt s challenge to him the next day. This fact shows the
beginning of the problem because he went to the party without an invitation. Romeo
falls in love from the first time when he saw Juliet. Tybalt saw him and he tries to
fight Romeo because he wants to bring the honor for his family, Another example
after Tybalt kills Mercutio, who is Romeo s best friend. Romeo attacks Tybalt to get
revenge for his best friend. Again, this shows Romeo kills Tybalt to get the revenge
for Mercutio. That caused him a lot of problems, he made Juliet s family think
about the way to kill him. Also, he will not be able to stay in the city. However,
some people believe this is incorrect because the article the team brain also states
inadequate sleep in a powerful contributor to instability and depression. But, this is
not true since Romeo is old enough to take care of himself and even if he didn t
sleep that well because of him thinking about Juliet he still can control himself.
Second In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, people are blaming The Capulet parent
because they were not showing that they really care about their daughter and how
she feel and the right for her. For example, her father uses despicable and shaming
language when trying to force her to marry Paris. He threatens to exile her to the
streets, calling her unworthy , a curse and a disobedient wretch. This fact shows
how her father does not know how to express his love except to make decisions for
his daughter. How the father of the family can dispensing their important part of the
family because they want the better for them self. Also money and having a lot of
power from different family try to join your family let the big man like

European Expansion During The 19th Century
During the 19th century European expansion affected the world far greater than
anyone could have predicted. There were various motives that influenced empires to
expand their rule over other territories and countries. These included economical,
political, and cultural motives. European societies looked to gain as much land as
possible in many different locations. This would allow them to gain key resources.
Looking at the political benefits of expansion, due to patriotism and growing imperial
powers countries would constantly compete for supremacy. There were many factors
which portrayed the upcoming of a world war. Intense nationalism and militarism
were both causes of the first world war and painted a picture for disaster. With the
thought of war coming national leaders sought alignments with foreign powers to
help protect themselves. After the war the world was left speechless. The aftermath
left both positive and negative effects. The amount of lost lives and wounded soldiers
was mind blowing. The war also affected the economy greatly. For many it made
them rich, others it tore them apart. European expansion in the nineteenth century;
included economical, political, and cultural motives, many factors portrayed the
upcoming war, the aftermath of the war was world changing. First there were many
motives for the European expansion to begin. Every nation wanted to with hold a
strong economy. Expansion offered these empires the ability to gain new resources to

The Technology And Collaborative Learning
Information and communication have changed rapidly during the past decades, both
hardware, software and networking. Many communication devices are smaller and
easier to use and are more convenient. For example, smart phones, PDAs, portable
computers, iPad, and tablets are important tools for study so having them smaller and
easier to use is of great value.
Educational policies in Thailand have packed Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) into the curriculum. Therefore, the current tools used in teaching
need to be portable devices. Teachers and students use portable devices for sharing
information, preparing reports, presentations, and communications to promote
learning together. Students interact in group activities together. However, if students
are unable to interact easily with others, it affects their education. If the instructor
integrates technology with collaborative learning, I believe it is the best way to teach
the students. In this study, the researcher develops the model of collaborative
learning to enhance undergraduate students education. The borderless classroom
utilizes both technology and collaborative learning.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the various stages of the budgeting process
and attempt to evaluate their effectiveness. I will further evaluate the level and
validity of detailed assumptions used to create budget estimates. I will discuss the
role of the budget as an analytic tool and explain how the budgetcan be used to
evaluate organizational performance, eliminate inefficiencies in an organization s
performance, and explain the budget s role in the business control cycle. I will
further analyze control mechanisms that can be put in place to monitor and evaluate
the budget, and describe how budget can be used in the performance accountability
and reward process. Finally, I will identify a major business initiative in my... Show

During this stage, the decision makers begin to see if they will get the return on
investment they initially anticipated.
Following a period of time, perhaps two or three years after approval, projects are
reviewed to see whether they should be continued. This reevaluation is referred to as
a postcompletion audit. Thorough postcompletion audits are typically performed on
selected projects, usually the largest projects in a given year s budget for the firm
or for each division. Postcompletion audits show the firms management how well the
cash flows realized correspond with the cash flows forecasted several years earlier.
(Peterson et al, 2002)
The post completion audit serves to thoroughly analyze the initial decision to
allocate resources to a given project. If the project failed to meet established
objectives this phase is often reffered to as a post mortem analysis. By revisiting the
project after an appropriate amount of time has passed, decision makers can
determine a project s success or failure. In the case of failure lessons learned can be
identified to avoid the same outcome in the future.
In creating a budget, decision makers attempt to forecast numbers as accurately as
possible. Doing this requires detailed assumptions regarding future costs and returns
on investment. While historical data can provide insight into future performance, it is
by no means a reliable method that should be expected to provide consistent results.
A Model Of Governance Through Capitalistic Ideals
Want to know a little known fact? Local government is one of the most influential
factors in the American way of life, but it is not even mentioned in the U.S.
Constitution. Essentially the Constitution set up national and state governments but
leaves local governments out creating a gray area. This area has been filled with
many different methods and types of government. One of the ideas which pertains to
filling this gray area is the Tiebout model. In essence this is a model of governance
through capitalistic ideals. In the Tiebout model cities and metros are divided up into
micro jurisdiction entice or deter specific citizens based on the jurisdicition s services
and taxes. This train of thought assumes things about the people who live in these
cities. These assumptions, applied to a simple majority, would surely ensure this
methods success, but it may not be feasible. Because many dislike the Tiebout
method revision can be made and there are numerous alternatives also.
In order for the Tiebout model to be successful, at least two assumptions must be
made about citizens. The first assumption that must be made is that the average, or at
least the majority, of citizens are both informed and motived to stay up to date on
policies. Each citizens would need to commit to enough different news sources to
understand local politics and its entirety. This applies to obvious things like watching
tax changes in their local government, as well as other areas. It also entail

I INTRODUCTION
Over multiple years, humans have evolved in many different ways, allowing them to
adapt to their environment. Intellectually or physically mankind has shown facilities
to conquer new grounds of reworking themselves towards better outcomes. In the
business world, where theories and strategies combine, helpfully guiding those

Process Improvement (BPI) is a strategic way of planning in order to foresee which
sector of a business has the potential to be encouraged or improved, leading to an
overall business growth. As evolution can be a constant threat and opportunity in the
business world, it is a merger role for managers to be aware and adapt their structure
for improvement in order to compete with rival firms. As W. Edwards says, It is not
necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory . (Jacobson, 2015) On the other hand,
Successful Change Management (SCM) is a kind of approach to redirect a process
within an organisation or the organisation itself towards its allocation of resources,
budget, modes of operations etc. It reshapes the company through a more efficient

Cortisol Experiments
While it is an ethical act to protect animal rights and conduct experiments on the
lowest number of animals possible, but rational conclusions that can be generalized
to the whole population will need more experiments done on a bigger sample
population of the species. Also the letter does not mention if all eighteen monkeys
have been brought from one part of the globe or not, and if they have been raised in
same conditions or not. If the monkeys had not all been under the same conditions
before the experiments then chances are that they each one had different levels of
cortisol in their blood. When the stranger monkey and the monkeys under
examination are set to encounter with each other the scientists should pay attention to
two criteria... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the first born child might have not yet been in a situation where the
parents had been absent before, whereas the second child might be acclimate to his
or her parents being absent, therefore being reunited with their parents again the
first child is likely to produce higher levels of cortisol. Hence, for studying how
humans respond to stimulation other factors such and psychological factors must be
considered. The fact that cortisol levels have shown to be higher in first time
mothers in not enough to assert that levels of stimulation is related to birth order.
Cortisol levels increase in times of fright and stress, and this could be the possible
explanation behind the high levels of cortisol in mothers who are giving birth for the
first time in comparison to mothers who have experienced this situation before.
Overall more experiments need to be conducted to be able to generalize this idea and
turn it into a fact. And other factors such as past stimulations, the amount of stimulus
and the experiment conditions need to be more thoroughly explained to be able to
rely on the validity of these
How To Justify Antigone
I dissent from German philosopher s Hegel s interpretation that this conflict is not
between good and evil, but between one sided positions, each of which embodies
some good. From my perspective, I do not think both sides can be equally justified,
due to the fact that Antigone came upon an unjust situation and took appropriate
action, while Kreon is trying to enforce a law that pains the people around him.
Therefore, I can justify Antigone s point of view rather than Kreon s because I
can relate to the fact that your family and personal beliefs are above all else. Kreon
took the predicament too far by declaring that Antigone be put to death for her
courteous action of providing a proper burial for her brother, Polyneices. As I see
it, Antigone had every right to perform a burial for Polyneices. She was not trying
to deliberately upset or disobey Kreon, but she knew she had to do what she felt
was right in her heart. She was aware of the consequences and she still followed
through with it, therefore, it clearly meant a lot to her. Burying her brother,
respecting the gods, and standing up to Kreon demonstrates her true defiant
character for staying loyal to herself and to family, no matter the outcome. It could
not have been easy for Antigone to challenge Kreon who is her uncle and also the
King of Thebes. This showcases how strong and courageous she is for not being
afraid or ashamed to tell Kreon what she s done. A quote by Antigone on page 40
and lines 499 507 of Sophocle s play states Then what s delaying you? For there is
nothing in your words that s pleasing to me may there never be! And naturally you
disapprove of mine as well. Yet how could I have won more glorious renown than
by the act of placing my own brother in a tomb? These people here would say my
action pleases all of them, if fear did not lock up their tongues. But this is one of
kingship s many blessings that it can both act and speak just as it wishes to. After
Kreon discovers that Antigone is the one responsible for the burial of Polyneices,
Antigone is essentially telling Kreon that she knows he disagrees with her actions,
but she has no regret and he should just take her away and kill her because she is
content and proud of herself for
Naomi Shihab Nye s Work
Words cannot describe how much I needed Naomi Shihab Nye s work in my life.
Just as she said in her short story, which also happens to be one of my favorite
works of hers, My Boyfriend, John Mayer , I noticed with some interest how a
person who is down seems much improved when faced with someone who is more
down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye, 175). It has been so long since
a poem, or a set of poems, has resonated so deeply within my person. Of course
from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think
deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an
unsatisfying daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to
see others who were even farther down than I was. In an attempt to find who we are
and what we want to do in life, I feel like we often abandon who we are at the given
moment in attempt to capture whatever farfetched idea pops into our head or on our
Facebook timeline that inspires us for a brief moment that we need more. More what?
Entertainment? Adventure?
In all reality we don t need anything. If we take a moment to stop, look around us
and take it all in, we are blessed beyond measure. I am blessed enough to have the
opportunity to stress about finals week in a college course that I don t even have to
pay for out of my own pocket. Someone who does a brilliant job of highlighting
moments
that I would never think twice of glancing right over is Naomi Shihab Nye.

Risks And Hazards Of Walmart
Introduction
The safety audit will be performed at a Walmart location in Orangeville, Ontario. It is
the biggest retail store worldwide with $482.1 billion in revenue and has 2.3 million
associates. As I have worked there for the summer holding an instock position in the
back room unloading trucks, I have gained knowledge and understanding on the
safety issues and standards that exist within the company.
Risks and Hazards Identified by Walmart
Walmart identifies many different risks and hazards that an employee may face
during work and believe that employees need to be aware of them. These hazards can
be identified in various forms such as: physical, ergonomic, chemical, psychological,
and safety/security
Physical Hazards: can result when performing various activities around the
workplace. They can occur from the equipment that we use, such as the pumps trucks,
electric pump trucks or from the trash compactor. Employees need to be trained on
how to properly use the different equipment to ensure that they have sufficient
knowledge on how to operate them safely. The training allows for individuals to
understand what to do when there is a malfunction with the equipment and how they
need to be properly reported and documented, as well as locked away so that others
do not use the broken equipment.
Other physical harms can be from slipping, which can be prevented from non slip
safety shoes that Walmart can sell to you for 50% off. Falling from various heights

for quite some time. That fighter, No. 5 ranked middleweight and former title
holder Chris Weidman, will face rising star and No. 8 ranked middleweight Kelvin
Gastelum in the main event of the evening. Weidman has lost three straight fights,
including a title defense against Luke Rockhold and loses to Yoel Romero and
most recently Gegard Mousasi in April. He hasn t won a fight since May 2015, and
his loss to Mousasi was as confusing to the fans as it was to him. After absorbing

Michael Bisping stepped in on two weeks notice and shockingly won the title that
Weidman was trying to get back. If Weidman wants to get back to his winning
ways, he ll have to be at the top of his game against a young and hungry lion.
Gastelum looks like he has finally found a home in the middleweight division after
struggling to make weight for fights in the welterweight division. In his last bout,
he looked impressive against Belfort, finishing him in the first round and winning
Performance of the Night honors. However, the fight was later overturned due to a
positive marijuana test. Prior to the Belfort fight, Gastelum dominated Tim
Kennedy at UFC 206 with a third round KO, cementing his place in the division.
Gastelum, 25 years old, showed tremendous hand speed and the ability to take a
punch in both fights, making him a far more dangerous fighter than he s often given
credit for. Now fighting at a more comfortable weight, he has shown speed and
athleticism that gives him the potential to wreak havoc in the 185 pound division.
Gastelum s only losses in the UFC have come by split decision to welterweight
champion Tyron Woodley and No. 6 ranked welterweight Neil Magny. Aside
Kennedy, he has key victories over Uriah Hall, Johny Hendricks, Nate Marquardt and
Jake Ellenberger. A win over Weidman could catapult Gastelum up the middleweight
rankings, while a win for Weidman could potentially land him back into
Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives
There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based
perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be
learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with
personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social
implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal
communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait
perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at
emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective.
Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of
intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being
defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several
subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research
is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use
of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior,
(Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of
organizational communication.
Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves
and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals,

Figurative Language In Julius Caesar
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears (Shakespeare. III. 2. 73). This is
one of the most popular quotes of Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,
and it still prevails today. Throughout history, Shakespeare has written many
tragedies, this one being one of the most popular. This tragedy is about an all mighty
Roman leader who is expected to turn into a ambitious dictator once crowned.
Because of this, a group of important men conspire to kill him for many different
reasons, which leads to unexpected turns and conflicts in the plot. This includes a
speech by one of Caesar s closest confidants, Antony. His speech persuades Rome to
turn against the conspirators and creates more conflict throughout the play. In

Pathos is a way of persuading an audience by using emotional appeal. In his speech,
Antony states, My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it
come back to me (Shakespeare. III. 2. 107 108). Being the last sentence in his
infamous speech, Antony needed a lasting statement to completely transform the
crowd of mourners into rioters. Pathos is used to pull at one s emotions and create a
reaction; consequently, anger and rage were the most prominent emotions after this
statement. By using pathos, Antony took advantage of the mourners at their most
vulnerable state and altered their mourning into
Pros And Cons Of Natural Gas Fracking
Fracking is a relatively new way of retrieving oil and natural gases from shale rock
and other natural resources that reside in the earth s core, using air and water
together. Thus far it has been proven to be a quicker alternative to oil well drilling
compared to conventional drilling methods. Oil and gas companies are still
learning about the side effects of this elaborate process day by day. Despite a few
side effects that have been discovered within the process, fracking has been very
efficient and beneficial. As stated in, Pros and Cons of Fracking: 5 Key Issues ,
Fracking saves lives, and it saves them right now and not at some indiscernible date
well into the future . (http://www.yaleclimateconnections.org/2015/05/pros and cons

The nation is shifting towards electricity generated by natural gas over the past ten
years 81 percent of new electricity capacity has been gas fired and state
governments are playing regulatory catch up with the drilling technology s rapid
expansion to meet this burgeoning demand . (http://www.gracelinks.org/191
/natural gas fracking introduction) However; to meet this demand, gas and oil
companies have ignored some rather important harmful effects of hydraulic
fracturing. These harmful effects include; water droughts, increased pollution, the
spread of toxins, and possible negative influence on local economies. Water
droughts because of the fracking process are caused by using up to approximately
one hundred times more water than previous drilling methods. This means that
gradually less and less of the world where drilling is active or was active will have
the ability to attain non chemical induced water. The article, List of Pros and Cons
of Fracking published by Occupy Theory states that, Anywhere from 10 to 40
percent of fracking waste water flows back to the original drilling surface (http:/
/occupytheory.org/list of pros and cons of fracking/) Hydraulic fracturing causes
pollution in several different aspects. Oil and gas companies are not required to
provide a list of chemicals used in the process which causes those in the areas
where drilling is present to not be able to adapt correctly to these toxins. According
to research, a few of the chemicals that have been found present in fracking include;
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. These three chemicals are known to the
scientific community to cause harmful effects on the health of people. Also, the
article, Pros and Cons of Fracking: 5 Key Issues explains that because of the
dropping gas prices, drilling use will
Porter Five Forces Of Intel
Five forces (semi conductor industry
Porters five forces model is a tool that helps a company understand competition in that
market. There are five different segments in this model, you have competitive rivalry,
bargaining power of customers, bargaining power of supplies, threat of substitutes,
and threat of new entrains. In the micro processing industry, there are many
competitors. The one company that is a true competitor for Intel is Advanced Micro
Devices (AMD). AMD is the second largest microprocessor supplies and the
significant rival to Intel for x86 based microprocessors.
Competitive Rivalry
Intel uses a differentiation strategy that builds competitive advantage through product
quality, customer service, and brand image management. Intel invests heavily in the
innovation of their products including their cutting edge microprocessors and other
technological products, so they can ensure leadership within the market. One way to
succeed in product differentiation is to continuously innovate and develop new or
enhanced products that cannot be easily matched by competitors.
Bargaining Power of customers
With Intel have very few substitutes in the microprocessor industry, it is it is most
certain that current customers will not want to switch and use another company s
products. High switching cost presents low bargaining power to the customers
mainly because it would be very expensive to switch to a competitor, and since Intel
is the leader in the market, switching
Antikythera Mechanism
From sometime in between 205 150 BC, an ancient ship carrying the Antikythera
Mechanism and a bounty of Hellenistic bronze and marble sculptures, pottery, and
silver coins sunk of the eastern coast of Antikythera Island in the Aegean Sea, waiting
to be discovered until A.D.1901 by a team of divers. After a century of research, the
intricate bronze set of gears has been determined to be an ancient Greek computer that
is able to calculate astronomical events. Understanding the importance of the
Mechanism and its significance is imperative as it is unarguably the most
sophisticated geared machine from the ancient world. Up to the present day, the
Mechanism remains influential toward researchers, historians, astronomers and
archaeologists.

During the reconstruction, Wright accidently discovered the pin in slot modification,
relatable to the lunar theory of scholar Hipparchos, in which the moon traveled
elliptically to the Earth. Wright composed two specific gears with 53 teeth. Freeth
questioned the randomness of the number 53, but with the assistance of Freeth and
colleagues, the pin in slot component accurately varied the speed of the rotation of
the gear according to the travel of the moon. The gearing has been specifically
designed so that the epicyclic table turns at the rate of rotation of the Moon s apogee,
the factor 53 being derived from the calculation of this rotation from the Metonic and

Subject: Zara s US Expansion
Date: 2001
Background
Following is an analysis of Zara s current expansion strategy into the US retail market
and recommendations on future tactics to ensure a successful expansion. Zara s
expansion strategy thus far has been quite successful; however, with every new store
opened, its ability to maintain an efficient centralized production system and a strong,
unique culture will be diminished.
Analysis
Let us first consider Zara s main competitive advantage before analyzing how current
and potential future strategies will affect this competitive advantage. Zara currently
employs a design on demand retail model allowing the company to bring the latest
fashion trends from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(See Appendix and above)
It is recommended that Zara maintain full ownership of new stores rather than
choosing to franchise. This will ensure the continuation of the strong Zara culture.
Zara s combination of cutting edge fashions and culture lends itself well to a
European style, fashion conscious consumer. While this type of consumer can be
found in New York, this is not representative of the entire US market. Retailers in
small towns and urban sprawls rely more on a shopping mall atmosphere. Adapting
that strategy would undermine Zara s image. It is therefore recommended that Zara
target only major metropolitan areas which would likely have higher concentrations
of fashion minded individuals.
Zara currently employs no advertising at all. As word of mouth is very important in
retail, this low key approach is in line with Zara s culture. A well structured
marketing campaign could, however, spread the word of Zara s expansion across the
US, while maintaining their mysterious boutique type image. Billboards or print ads
with a teaser approach could accomplish this goal. Advertising will become important
to increase Zara s profile during expansion. Due to its comfortable profit margins, a
modest advertising budget could be afforded.
Zara s US expansion will rely heavily upon continued emphasis on strong IT
procedures both
Comparison of Genesis 1 2

REL 1330 Introduction to Christianity HONORS Section
September 18, 2013
Comparison between Genesis 1 Genesis 2 The story of creation begins with
Genesis 1 and 2, it explains how the world and it s living inhabitants were created
from God s touch. From Genesis 1 we see how the sky, seas, land, animals, and
mankind were created. However Genesis 2 focuses more on the first of mankind,
known as Adam and Eve and how they are made to be. In this paper I will compare
Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and what the main idea for creation is in each one,
however in my opinion there is no contradiction between the two. Genesis 2 merely
fills in the details that are headlined in Genesis 1. In Genesis 1 we learn how God
created the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another possibility is that there were two stories being told and the writer could
not decide which one to put in the bible, so he put both. Though there are two
clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of creation can still be seen. This
might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and why Genesis
2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not
even mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are
Adam (male) and Eve (female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is
created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and makes Eve from that rib. Then she is
called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This appears nowhere in
Genesis 1.
Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how
important the creation of man was. After all we are the only things that God
created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a garden in Eden and puts Adam in
the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then instructs him
about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a
helper (on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals
and birds (Gen 2:15). Then God reflects back at what he previously made before
man. (Gen 1:24 25 explains the creatures made from the earth according to its kind )
and has Adam name them before he puts him asleep to operate on him to give him

The Amazing Transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge in A...

Christmas Carol after Ebenezer Scrooge is taken on a remarkable journey through
time. Although A Christmas Carol was written in the 17th century, its messages and
themes stay alive today. Scrooge started changing his personality and life style
throughout the novella. In A ChristmasCarol Scrooge changed from being a money
pinching grouch to a kind hearted man, he redeemed himself through freewill and
life changing memories. After Marley visited Scrooge, The Ghost of Christmas Past

After only one ghost, Scrooge had already changed his view on how he should treat
people he is close to. Once The Ghost of Christmas Present was extinguished, The
Ghost of Christmas Present waited for Scrooge on a pile of delicious food in
Scrooge s house. This ghost also brings Scrooge around the town, they visited
Christmas dinners and parties. First, the ghost brings Scrooge to the Cratchit
family Christmas dinner. The family has a wonderful time despite the fact that
they have a goose instead of a turkey, they have a dying son, and they are poor. If
even through the roughest times this family can stay happy, then Scrooge should
be able to celebrate Christmas. After Scrooge goes to the Cratchit s he is taken to
Fred s Christmas Party. Scrooge is pulled in by the fun games, and he starts playing
along with them. Although no one can actually see him, Scrooge finds himself
having a good time with other people. By this time Scrooge has definitely had a
change of heart. He finally decides that having a good Christmas spirit might be a
wonderful thing. After The Ghost of Christmas Present left, Scrooge was struck with
fear when the next ghost comes in his direction. Scrooge had been wondering the
whole adventure whether he could still change the person he was. The Ghost of
Christmas Yet to Come brought him to different places, all of them relating to a dead
man Scrooge had seen earlier. The ghost

Introduction
As the development of the world, sustainable development is becoming more and
more remarkable among the public. Meanwhile the environmental impacts on
worldwide mega sport events are catching an increasing attention. However the
environmental impacts are complex and difficult to be assessed quantitatively, in
spite of event stakeholders often insist that it is as important as social and economic
legacies (Collins, Jones, Munday, 2009). In the recent decade, several significant
mega sports events took place which related to issues of environmental impacts,
sustainability and greening events, such as several Olympic Games, Rugby World
Cup, and FIFA World Cup. Since the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games
of the XXIX Olympiad defined the Beijing Olympic would be People s Olympics,
Green Olympics, and High Tech Olympics (2002). This essay focuses on 2008
Beijing Olympic Game, and the environmental impact that the game faced.
At the beginning of this essay, a brief historic background of Beijing Olympic will
be introduces, and a definition of environmental impact will be presented with some
discussions. In the following part, some more detailed discussion will be studied
between Beijing Olympic and environmental impact based on researches. The paper
will reveal the environmental issues occurred during the game. Moreover, plans and

Anti Social Personality Disorder ( Ocd )
Abuse and neglect during childhood have a strong predisposition to having anti social
personality disorder
In 2013, an estimate of 679, 000 children were abused or neglected (National
Children s Alliance, 2013). Abuse and/or neglect history in young adults can have
strong impact physically and emotionally. Previous researchers have found that abuse
and/or neglect in young adults can be one linked to personality disorders. They have
found that Anti social Personality Disorder (APD) can be one of the personality
disorders that s linked to abuse and/or neglect. APD is characterised by a pervasive
pattern of poor social conformity, deceitfulness , impulsivity, aggressiveness,
irresponsibility, lack of remorse and criminality (American Psychiatric Association,
2013).
APD is a well known disorder that researchers have been trying to determine the
cause of it. Bierer et al. (2003) conducted a study and found that children that
experience sexual and physical abuse have strong predictor to paranoid as well anti
social personality disorder. The participants that helped find these results were either
referred from the outpatient psychiatric clinics or referred themselves by responding
advertisements and press release. Each participant was given a childhood trauma
questionnaire (CTQ) to assess the participant s childhood. The questionnaire was five
point Likert type scale to help determine the frequency of the traumatic occurrences.
The researchers measured five different
Cleo 5 To 7 Essay
Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless are French films that represent time as themes. By
using time as an important aspect of the film, the audience is drawn to the plot and
eager to learn what the outcome is after time runs out in the film. Time as a theme is
possible through formal qualities of film that would not be possible without these
certain qualities. Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless may both have timeas significant
themes, but each filmuses time to create an original story.
Cleo from 5 to 7 is essentially about the story of a woman s past, present, and future.
The setting is in virtually real time created by the film while she confronts the
probability of being sick with cancer (Mast). In film, real time often means when the

more about Cleo s life and her personality, like her self obsession as mirrors often

that by doing daily everyday activities, Cleo is attempting to waste time and does not

The 28,000 hectares of original farmland that made up the retreat and backed onto the
South Island s Mount Cook National Park were converted into a big game reserve.
All merino sheep on the land were sold, and deer, elk, chamois, and wapiti were
brought in and released. This was a carefully considered plan. Olde Olthof, the
former conservationist, believed that financially and environmentally this was the
correct decision. Not only do tourists, each staying for one week and taking part in
safari shooting, inject as much cash into the business as the station s annual wool clip
used to fetch, but the game does less harm to the environment than sheep. Cattle,
however, once part of the original station, were left to graze on lower reverflat areas.
For those high flying customers seeking less bloodthirsty leisure activities, Lilybank
developed other product line extensions. Horse trekking, golfing on a nearby rural
course (with no need for hordes of security forces), world class photographic
opportunities, helicopter trips around nearby Lake Tekapo, nature walks, and other
such activities formed part of the exclusive package.
While still in the early stages of operation, this retreat has already attracted a steady
stream of visitors. To date the manager has relied solely on positive word of mouth,
publicity, and public
Jason Decaires Taylor Essay
Jason deCaires Taylor has created many pieces of art. Jason deCaires Taylor is a
sculptor, who creates underwater living habitats. It shows the effect that humans have
on nature over time. His work is designed to be like artificial reefs, attracting corals,

all of sculptures to be placed under water. He created the Anthropocene; it is a car,
which is underwater in Cancun/Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The sculpture was placed at the

The car was placed underwater to help the environment. Taylor s sculptures are made
with a different type of material so they can be placed underwater.
It would be pretty hard to do this within a classroom, but there are similar things
that can be done. Student could use clay to create sculptors similar to the ones that
Taylor had created. The different things that can be done depend on the grade that
is being taught. It can be used in middle school to high school in art or science.
Those who teach elementary it can be use as an art project. It can help any who is in
to design.
When using it for science, it can be use as an environmental project. They could
study how it helps or harms the environment. It would be great research for the
student to learn the information they need or don t need. The students could see
what they could do to help the environment. Together as a class, the student could
create something similar and place it in a fish tank. Art would be similar, not using
it for research, but doing it for a class project. They could create anything they
would like too. I know in high school I created a bowl. In elementary school, it
would be used they same way. It can help younger students with their fine motors
skills. In some case of those with a developmental delay, it could help them

  • 2. Elementary School Recess Children in elementary schools all over the United States long for the moment that they are released to go to recess. It is a time for them to let loose, relax, and simply refresh their minds to get ready for the rest of the day. However, school boards as well as teachers around the country have begun to cut back on recess time or, in some cases, eliminate it completely in order to maximize educational intake . The obvious benefit of the use of recess is physical enrichment, however there are many other crucial outcomes involved with recess. Recess is a pivotal piece in the development of a child s focus, ability to retain informations, and social skills, which are several reasons as to why recess should be implemented in elementary schools... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to an article from AAP News Journals, after recess, for children or after a corresponding break time for adolescents, students are more attentive and better able to perform cognitively (Murray). This shows that students who are given a recess can soak up the given information better than those who are not. In turn, this allows students to be more successful in the classroom due to information being easily retained. This demonstrated in places such as Finland and China who have very successful education systems. These places have some of the most highly ranked schools in the world. As stated in an article by Alia Wong, Finnish kids get more than an hour of recess every day and East Asian countries like China the land of nine hour school days and weekend cram classes most schools give kids a 10 or even 20 minute break after each class, or about every hour. As previously stated above, these parts of the world have the most renowned school systems, but they also allow kids a lot of time for breaks. Student success in the classroom is largely impacted by the use of recess in
  • 3. View Into A Hall With A Girl Analysis GabriГ«l Metsu is a Dutch painter from the seventeenth century, which is known as the (Dutch Golden Age). His works consist of still lives, portraits, history, and genre. One of his paintings is called View Into a Hall with a Jester, a Girl, and her Dog which is painted around 1667. This genre painting depicts a view through a hallway from the door with a jester, a girl and her dog. Metsu uses elements of art and principles of design such as colour, texture, harmony, rhythm, space, shape, and gradation to give the illusion that the viewers are part of the scene and enhances the subject matters to look realistic. Looking at the painting, immediately the viewers will encounter one of the first subject matter, the girl. In this composition, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Metsu uses the element of art, space, to create a three dimensional space in the composition. As a result, the illusion of depth is given to make the painting look realistic. He uses several elements such as line, colour, shape, and even principles such as harmony, rhythm, and gradation to enrich the element of space. These aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu creates the optical illusion of a three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface through the floor tiles. For example, the shapes of the floor tiles in the foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the background and the colour values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get darker in the background. Since this painting mimics a three dimensional space, the details of the floor tiles get blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a principle of design, on the floor. The floor tile lines direct the viewer s eyes to the end of the hall. Principles such as gradation and harmony are displayed on the floor tiles through elements including shape, colour, and space. In addition, Metsu positions the girl in the foreground overlapping the door. This demonstrates the actual size of the girl, which is relative to the size of the lady in the background. In addition, the girl in the foreground
  • 4. The Use of Narratives to Express the Religious Beliefs of... The Use of Narratives to Express the Religious Beliefs of People in Western Religions For the layman, familiarity with the major religions stems from the stories that are associated with them. Using the narratives that are derived from the sacred texts is the most prominent way in which our society identifies the Westernreligions. The Jewish tradition is best correlated to stories like the Exodus and the parting of the Red Seas, for example, as are the many tales of the miracles of Jesus connected to Christianity. This essay will present narratives as an easy method of providing the basic groundwork for the Western religious traditionsof Judaism, Christianity, and Islam because of their simplicity and easily transmittable nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the holy day of Sabbath is it is known for Jews and Christians, is absent in Islam. God was not weary from the act of creation, and oversaw all that he had created, rather. This could be seen as part of the belief in Islam that the Koran is a correction to the previous religions of Judaism and Christianity, and that the holy scriptures were somehow corrupted in their present form. In the Western tradition, primarily in the United States where Christianity prevails, the story of creation from Genesis is held in high regard, and controversies have erupted disputing whether or not its fundamentals should be taught in school. The founding of this nation through the Constitution was erected with the belief of separation of church and state. In the conservative 1920s, a huge court case erupted from the dispute between the Christian creationism and the scientific founding of Charles Darwin s evolution. The Scopes Monkey trial of 1925 saw a schoolteacher found guilty of teaching evolution in the classroom, a theory that flabbergasted fundamentalist Christians who perceived it ludicrous that humans could have descended from monkeys. The narrative tradition of the Genesis creation was evidently a central issue for Americans and typified the Christian identity in the U.S. at a time when modernism was emerging, as the fourteen states had anti Evolution statutes. According to the first account of creation in Genesis, God made man on the sixth

  • 6. The Building A Prison For Those Who Didn t Quality Essay Upon arrived to TALA, I was greeted by an astonishing monumental architecture. The symmetry of the building was elegant and well complimented by its weathered look. It is difficult to imagine that this very building had once housed the mentally ill. I had never seen such a facility before and thus expected something less remarkable. As I stood admiring the building, I noticed the multitude of windows it contained. Upon further examination, I noticed the bars surrounding them and suddenly realized that the illusion of paradise was in reality a prison for those who dwelled here. I was surprised to learn how many people were housed in this building and likewise shocked to discover what passed as mentally insane during the 19th century. The criteria used to determine mental illness were nonexistent and arbitrary. I was extremely concerned when the tour guide mentioned kids being born and raised in TALA. It was also distressing to learn that people who didn t quality as having mental problems were also placed into such a facility. In contrast, it was interesting to learn that the community had openly embraced TALA as part of their home to the extent that a high school prom was held inside the building. This helped me to recognize that TALA was more than just an insane asylum, it was truly home to those living inside and outside its walls. As I progressed through the tour, I discovered that I was unaware of the many practices of insane asylums, especially the methods used in
  • 7. Lord Of The Flies Leadership Analysis What qualities make someone a good leader? In Lord of the Flies who demonstrates this role of being a leader, and how is it being displayed? A leader is someone who has the ability to take control and charge of a group. A leader is there to guide, manage, and provide assistance to a group in a specific situation. In William Goldings novelLord of the Flies, the character of Ralph is a good leader. He displays specific characteristics that define a good leader. By possessing the ability to show initiative, responsibility, courage and determination on the island, transforms him into the remarkable leader he is. Without Ralph s leadershipskills, the boys may have not been able to survive during their time on the island. Ralph as the leader on the island shows much initiative. He takes a great deal of control and is usually the first to step up in a situation to benefit the safety of everyone on the island. You hunters! You can laugh! But I tell you smoke is more important than the pig, however often you kill one. Do all of you see? He spread his arms wide and turned to the whole triangle. We ve got to make smoke up there or die. (Golding, 86 87). This quote displays how Ralph is attempting to maintain order and civilized behaviour. By being the first to tell them what to do and by showing initiative and by setting goals for the boys to follow, he prepares practical plans that will help the boys get rescued. He is trying to tell them what do to help save them so they
  • 8. Sunrise Film Techniques Sunrise is a film directed by director F.W.Murnau that some might argue is more of a classic love story but I am going to show you why this is more of a horror film instead. Sunrise had a hint of love in it indeed but it contains plot of murder as well as attempt of murder twice. It also contains a very controlling character that show hints of being evil or monster like in her personality as well as her appearance. The director used the camera angle, camera movement, as well as lighting to show why this is more of a dark and chilling story and I will explain why. The first obvious clue to the viewers that this might be more of a horror film than a love film is the very controlling a devil like character that we get introduced to very early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We get a little bit of everything in this film such as creepy locations and camera angle that shows darkness to a shot or characters true feeling or intention. F.W.Murnau used a variety of ways to show the horror prospective in this film. in the beginning we see the husband meeting his lover in a dark and creepy moon lit swamp. In an edit sequence we get a trailing shot of the husband walking through the very dark and gloomy swap with a slouch posture and hands in his pockets, we also hear a very slow and creepy soundtrack playing in the background giving the audiences a chilling feels to it. Then we see that he walks out of the frame and the camera keeps going and stops on a shot of the city woman standing near some bushes with a very bright and high moon in the background. This is where we can draw a clear conclusion that the location is imposed on us to give a feeling of sadness or evil sin that they are about to commit in this isolated part of the farm. He uses high angles several time through the film as well to show the shadows of darkness on characters face and give them a monster like appearance. We see a perfect example of this in the shot of a close up of the husband face at a high angle and low light in the boat when he is about to stand up to kill his wife. We see the dark shadow in his face and his slouched Frankenstein posture as he moves his eye on his wife about to kill her. He used these cinematic techniques to show character emotions and implement the horror prospective in the film and these are clear reasons why some might say this is more horror than a classic love story of two

Public Enemy Movie Analysis Public Enemies Movie Analysis Amy Jo Parrish Troy Montgomery University Introduction to Criminal Justice September 29, 2017 943 Gipson Street, Prattville, AL Aparrish149539@troy.edu Public Enemies Movie Analysis Director Michael Mann releases his movie Public Enemy to the public on July 1, 2009. This nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) fascinates the viewers with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold bravery of his gangster style bank robberies during the Depression era of America s greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), and Evelyn Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal agents with their burglaries through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) as America s first Public Enemy Number One, Dillinger s brashness erupted even more. The enlistment of FBI s top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), gave the instructional task of bringing in this charismatic and troubling evildoer Dillinger dead or alive. Nevertheless, this movie introduced us to this charming character Dillinger. The comparison and contrast of the true realities verses the movie actually handles the injustices differently than what the screen displays. Drama, bad boy image, lovers, and reckless abandonment of the law lures us to an unrealistic reality to the

  • 11. The Souls Of Black Folk By. B Du Bois The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B Du Bois, is an article on a African American living in the United States. In this piece of literature Du Bois harshly portrays the personal and third person accounts African American struggles during a period of slavery. The author uses many songs to depict the cruel life in four essays. In this piece Du Bois coins two main terms, double consciousness and the Veil. Overall the author provides the reader how the twentieth century is the problem of the color line and with stories and situations that the black man experiences throughout the period of reform. Double consciousness would be the idea that African Americans living in the Untied States feel like they are living in two different conflicted identities. The problem with these two different identities is that they cannot merge together, due to how different they both are. First identity would be the black identity, and the second would be the American identity. The first one would be the personal identity, which that person is and the American identity is when the black man was born only because of the historical leftovers of slavery. Along with this idea is the veil. This describes that African Americans are living life being behind a veil, because they are able to understand what life is like for white people outside of and within their group, but it is difficult for white people to fully understand what it is like living in a black persons body. The essay then continues to give
  • 12. Three Types Of Linear And Planar Structured Donor ( D )... Three types of linear and planar structured donor (D) acceptor (A) type alternating copolymers were synthesized by incorporating intrachain noncovalent Coulomb interactions, based on 2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene and benzothiadiazole (BT) moieties. The chain linearity and systematic adjustment of interchain organization was achieved by the incorporation of different number of electronegative fluorine atoms onto BT, which significantly affected the frontier energy levels, film morphology, and the resulting charge transport properties. Bimodal semi crystalline orientation and charge carrier transport properties were studied by grazing incidence wide angle X ray scattering (GIWAXS) and polymerfiled effect transistor (PFET) characteristics measurements. The hole mobility as high as 0.1 cm2/Vs in PFET was measured for poly(2,5 bisthieno[3,2 b]thiophene 1,4 bis(decyltetradecyloxy)benzene alt 4,7 (5,6 difluoro 2,1,3 benzothiadiazole)) (PPDTT2FBT), suggesting a strong self organization in the linear configuration with conformation lock with the help of fluorine atoms. The linear and difluorinated PPDTT2FT also showed the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE, 6.4%) by blending with PC71BM, but showed a poorer photovoltaic performance compared to the wavy structured counterpart, PPDT2FBT, reported previously. The mainly edge on orientation of PPDTT2FT and poor blend film morphology attributed to the moderate PCE in the blends. Fine modulation

He received his first guitar on his eleventh birthday, and had his first musical success a couple of years later when he won his high school talent show. After graduating, he worked at many jobs while still trying to pursue his musical dreams. He cut his first demo record the year he graduated. A short time later, Sam Phillips, the record label owner, decided to give Elvis Presley a chance and help him out. The Scapegoat In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery Numerous critics have carefully discussed Shirley Jackson s The Lottery in terms of the scapegoat traditions of anthropology and literature, pointing out its obvious comment on the innate savagery of man lurking beneath his civilized trappings. Most acknowledge the power of the story, admitting that the psychological shock of the ritual murder in an atmosphere of modern, small town normality cannot be easily forgotten. Nevertheless, beneath the praise of these critics frequently runs a current of uneasiness a sense of having been defrauded n some way by the development of the story on a whole. Similarities Between Game Of Roses And War Of The Roses A Marriage between Roses and Thrones A marriage is usually perceived as two people in love and bind themselves together with an unbreakable bond. However, in the medieval age, political marriages were more often than a love between couples. Both the Wars of the Roses and HBO s Game of Thrones, political marriages occur in order to lead to personal gain and conduct strategic planning for one s kingdom. In HBO s Game of Thrones, a scene from season 3, episode 5 shows Tywin, Tyrion, and Cersei discussing marriages in a manner which exemplifies the significance of political marriages compared to the Wars of the Roses, between Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI, especially through close up shots, lighting, and sound. When watching the fifth episode of season 3 of Game of Thrones, Tyrion, Tywin, and Cersei discuss how they can use marriages so the Lannisters can secure the North and it can be done if Tyrion marries Sansa Stark. This is comparable to Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI. Margaret of Anjou marries Henry VI and thus as stated in The War of the Roses, Marrying Henry to the French king s niece seemed to serve two greater purposes: it would bring England a diplomatic and military truce in the French wars and it would enable Henry and Margaret to rebuild the dwindling stock of the English royal family. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi. When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. Honda entered the European market rather late, and its first production facility in the region was built in 1992, at a time when Honda was still only a minor player in the Japanese market. Prior to 1992, Honda Europe was forced to import its vehicles from the US, making it impossible for the company to aggressively attack the European market. One of the most important reasons for the lack of success was that the European market was highly saturated with locally owned car manufacturers. Companies such as Saab, Volvo, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, DM, Opel, Renault, Peugeot and Fiat have been dominating the European market for a considerable number of years. In addition, other foreign companies, such as Toyota, Nissan, Ford and Hyundai make the European market extremely competitive. The most iconic gargoyle, the Pensive Demon, sits atop Notre Dame Cathedral s South tower. In the middle ages, gargoyles were the subject of pagan and demonic conversation , but for Viollet le Duc they represented salvation, protection, and the soul of the building. Gargoyles that sat near the great bells provided amplification of sound when they went off, an important function that told citizens when to awake or pray . Viollet le Duc was appalled at the actions of the rebels that recklessly tore down the old gargoyles and replaced them with lead pipes, which proved ineffective and caused significant water damage to the cathedral. Gargoyles served a very important purpose of steering water out of the cathedral along with being artistically sound. While researching, Viollet le Duc realized how useful it is to multiply gargoyles in masses so that the drainage system would be perfected. Limestone was a material that could be cut into long, thin shapes and would further accentuate decorative qualities of the gargoyles, along with helping to anchor the building and provide extra support . Viollet le Duc insisted on proving the gargoyles functionality to a point of absurdity. He created gargoyles that held pots to further steer water away. He also formulated canopies for the gargoyles, during a time where canopies were reserved for saints and holy purposes. Viollet le Duc either found his gargoyles to be sacred, or he was further making fun of religion and its symbolism and his distaste for it . All of these elements prove a point that Viollet le Duc s main goal was preservation of the structure after restoration, and he found gargoyles to be the most modern and functional elements of its gothic

Throughout history, critics have debated who was most culpable in the death of Romeo and Juliet. Some have blamed characters who acted from position of authority. Romeo and Capulet parents are the ones to blame for the death of the young lovers. First In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet people are blaming Romeo because he was one of the reasons that made Juliet want to kill herself. Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet party but his presence there fuels Tybalt s challenge to him the next day. This fact shows the beginning of the problem because he went to the party without an invitation. Romeo falls in love from the first time when he saw Juliet. Tybalt saw him and he tries to fight Romeo because he wants to bring the honor for his family, Another example after Tybalt kills Mercutio, who is Romeo s best friend. Romeo attacks Tybalt to get revenge for his best friend. Again, this shows Romeo kills Tybalt to get the revenge for Mercutio. That caused him a lot of problems, he made Juliet s family think about the way to kill him. Also, he will not be able to stay in the city. However, some people believe this is incorrect because the article the team brain also states inadequate sleep in a powerful contributor to instability and depression. But, this is not true since Romeo is old enough to take care of himself and even if he didn t sleep that well because of him thinking about Juliet he still can control himself. Second In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, people are blaming The Capulet parent because they were not showing that they really care about their daughter and how she feel and the right for her. For example, her father uses despicable and shaming language when trying to force her to marry Paris. He threatens to exile her to the streets, calling her unworthy , a curse and a disobedient wretch. During this stage, the decision makers begin to see if they will get the return on investment they initially anticipated. Following a period of time, perhaps two or three years after approval, projects are reviewed to see whether they should be continued. This reevaluation is referred to as a postcompletion audit. Thorough postcompletion audits are typically performed on selected projects, usually the largest projects in a given year s budget for the firm or for each division. Postcompletion audits show the firms management how well the cash flows realized correspond with the cash flows forecasted several years earlier. (Peterson et al, 2002) The post completion audit serves to thoroughly analyze the initial decision to allocate resources to a given project. If the project failed to meet established objectives this phase is often reffered to as a post mortem analysis. By revisiting the project after an appropriate amount of time has passed, decision makers can determine a project s success or failure. In the case of failure lessons learned can be identified to avoid the same outcome in the future. In creating a budget, decision makers attempt to forecast numbers as accurately as possible. Doing this requires detailed assumptions regarding future costs and returns on investment. While historical data can provide insight into future performance, it is by no means a reliable method that should be expected to provide consistent results.

Local government is one of the most influential factors in the American way of life, but it is not even mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. Essentially the Constitution set up national and state governments but leaves local governments out creating a gray area. This area has been filled with many different methods and types of government. One of the ideas which pertains to filling this gray area is the Tiebout model. In essence this is a model of governance through capitalistic ideals. In the Tiebout model cities and metros are divided up into micro jurisdiction entice or deter specific citizens based on the jurisdicition s services and taxes. This train of thought assumes things about the people who live in these cities. These assumptions, applied to a simple majority, would surely ensure this methods success, but it may not be feasible. Because many dislike the Tiebout method revision can be made and there are numerous alternatives also. In order for the Tiebout model to be successful, at least two assumptions must be made about citizens. The first assumption that must be made is that the average, or at least the majority, of citizens are both informed and motived to stay up to date on policies. Each citizens would need to commit to enough different news sources to understand local politics and its entirety. How To Justify Antigone I dissent from German philosopher s Hegel s interpretation that this conflict is not between good and evil, but between one sided positions, each of which embodies some good. From my perspective, I do not think both sides can be equally justified, due to the fact that Antigone came upon an unjust situation and took appropriate action, while Kreon is trying to enforce a law that pains the people around him. Therefore, I can justify Antigone s point of view rather than Kreon s because I can relate to the fact that your family and personal beliefs are above all else. Kreon took the predicament too far by declaring that Antigone be put to death for her courteous action of providing a proper burial for her brother, Polyneices. As I see it, Antigone had every right to perform a burial for Polyneices. She was not trying to deliberately upset or disobey Kreon, but she knew she had to do what she felt was right in her heart. She was aware of the consequences and she still followed through with it, therefore, it clearly meant a lot to her. Burying her brother, respecting the gods, and standing up to Kreon demonstrates her true defiant character for staying loyal to herself and to family, no matter the outcome. It could not have been easy for Antigone to challenge Kreon who is her uncle and also the King of Thebes. This showcases how strong and courageous she is for not being afraid or ashamed to tell Kreon what she s done. A quote by Antigone on page 40 and lines 499 507 of Sophocle s play states Then what s delaying you? For there is nothing in your words that s pleasing to me may there never be! And naturally you disapprove of mine as well. Yet how could I have won more glorious renown than by the act of placing my own brother in a tomb? These people here would say my action pleases all of them, if fear did not lock up their tongues. But this is one of kingship s many blessings that it can both act and speak just as it wishes to. After Kreon discovers that Antigone is the one responsible for the burial of Polyneices, Antigone is essentially telling Kreon that she knows he disagrees with her actions, but she has no regret and he should just take her away and kill her because she is content and proud of herself for

Just as she said in her short story, which also happens to be one of my favorite works of hers, My Boyfriend, John Mayer , I noticed with some interest how a person who is down seems much improved when faced with someone who is more down than they are. It s all a matter of degrees (Nye, 175). It has been so long since a poem, or a set of poems, has resonated so deeply within my person. Of course from time to time I come across one that will make me reminisce or truly think deeper than what is due the next class period, but in the blaring monotony of an unsatisfying daily routine shoved me low enough I hadn t stopped for a moment to see others who were even farther down than I was. In an attempt to find who we are and what we want to do in life, I feel like we often abandon who we are at the given moment in attempt to capture whatever farfetched idea pops into our head or on our Facebook timeline that inspires us for a brief moment that we need more. More what? Entertainment? Adventure? In all reality we don t need anything. If we take a moment to stop, look around us and take it all in, we are blessed beyond measure. I am blessed enough to have the opportunity to stress about finals week in a college course that I don t even have to pay for out of my own pocket. Someone who does a brilliant job of highlighting moments that I would never think twice of glancing right over is Naomi Shihab Nye.

It is the biggest retail store worldwide with $482.1 billion in revenue and has 2.3 million associates. As I have worked there for the summer holding an instock position in the back room unloading trucks, I have gained knowledge and understanding on the safety issues and standards that exist within the company. Risks and Hazards Identified by Walmart Walmart identifies many different risks and hazards that an employee may face during work and believe that employees need to be aware of them. These hazards can be identified in various forms such as: physical, ergonomic, chemical, psychological, and safety/security Physical Hazards: can result when performing various activities around the workplace. They can occur from the equipment that we use, such as the pumps trucks, electric pump trucks or from the trash compactor. Employees need to be trained on how to properly use the different equipment to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge on how to operate them safely. The training allows for individuals to understand what to do when there is a malfunction with the equipment and how they need to be properly reported and documented, as well as locked away so that others do not use the broken equipment. Other physical harms can be from slipping, which can be prevented from non slip safety shoes that Walmart can sell to you for 50% off. Falling from various heights can also be a

If Weidman wants to get back to his winning ways, he ll have to be at the top of his game against a young and hungry lion. Gastelum looks like he has finally found a home in the middleweight division after struggling to make weight for fights in the welterweight division. In his last bout, he looked impressive against Belfort, finishing him in the first round and winning Performance of the Night honors. However, the fight was later overturned due to a positive marijuana test. Prior to the Belfort fight, Gastelum dominated Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 with a third round KO, cementing his place in the division. Gastelum, 25 years old, showed tremendous hand speed and the ability to take a punch in both fights, making him a far more dangerous fighter than he s often given credit for. Now fighting at a more comfortable weight, he has shown speed and athleticism that gives him the potential to wreak havoc in the 185 pound division. Gastelum s only losses in the UFC have come by split decision to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and No. 6 ranked welterweight Neil Magny. Aside Kennedy, he has key victories over Uriah Hall, Johny Hendricks, Nate Marquardt and Jake Ellenberger. A win over Weidman could catapult Gastelum up the middleweight rankings, while a win for Weidman could potentially land him back into
  • 41. Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective. Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior, (Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of organizational communication. Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals, and have to be aware of how their

Pros And Cons Of Natural Gas Fracking Fracking is a relatively new way of retrieving oil and natural gases from shale rock and other natural resources that reside in the earth s core, using air and water together. Thus far it has been proven to be a quicker alternative to oil well drilling compared to conventional drilling methods. Oil and gas companies are still learning about the side effects of this elaborate process day by day. Despite a few side effects that have been discovered within the process, fracking has been very efficient and beneficial. As stated in, Pros and Cons of Fracking: 5 Key Issues , Fracking saves lives, and it saves them right now and not at some indiscernible date well into the future . The nation is shifting towards electricity generated by natural gas over the past ten years 81 percent of new electricity capacity has been gas fired and state governments are playing regulatory catch up with the drilling technology s rapid expansion to meet this burgeoning demand . (http://www.gracelinks.org/191 /natural gas fracking introduction) However; to meet this demand, gas and oil companies have ignored some rather important harmful effects of hydraulic fracturing. These harmful effects include; water droughts, increased pollution, the spread of toxins, and possible negative influence on local economies. Water droughts because of the fracking process are caused by using up to approximately one hundred times more water than previous drilling methods. This means that gradually less and less of the world where drilling is active or was active will have the ability to attain non chemical induced water. The article, List of Pros and Cons of Fracking published by Occupy Theory states that, Anywhere from 10 to 40 percent of fracking waste water flows back to the original drilling surface (http:/ /occupytheory.org/list of pros and cons of fracking/) Hydraulic fracturing causes pollution in several different aspects. Oil and gas companies are not required to provide a list of chemicals used in the process which causes those in the areas where drilling is present to not be able to adapt correctly to these toxins. According to research, a few of the chemicals that have been found present in fracking include; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. These three chemicals are known to the scientific community to cause harmful effects on the health of people. Zara s combination of cutting edge fashions and culture lends itself well to a European style, fashion conscious consumer. While this type of consumer can be found in New York, this is not representative of the entire US market. Retailers in small towns and urban sprawls rely more on a shopping mall atmosphere. Adapting that strategy would undermine Zara s image. It is therefore recommended that Zara target only major metropolitan areas which would likely have higher concentrations of fashion minded individuals. Zara currently employs no advertising at all. From Genesis 1 we see how the sky, seas, land, animals, and mankind were created. However Genesis 2 focuses more on the first of mankind, known as Adam and Eve and how they are made to be. In this paper I will compare Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and what the main idea for creation is in each one, however in my opinion there is no contradiction between the two. Another possibility is that there were two stories being told and the writer could not decide which one to put in the bible, so he put both. Though there are two clashing stories, the basic idea for this story of creation can still be seen. This might explain why Genesis 1 has a broader spectrum of creation and why Genesis 2 focuses mainly on the creation of man. In Genesis 1 the names of man are not even mentioned. In Genesis 2 however we come to learn that their names are Adam (male) and Eve (female). Also in Genesis 2 we learn exactly how Eve is created; Goad takes a rib from Adam and makes Eve from that rib. Then she is called woman, because she is made from man (Gen 2:23). This appears nowhere in Genesis 1. Another possibility is that Genesis was also put in the Bible to show us how important the creation of man was. After all we are the only things that God created in his image (Gen 1:26). God makes a garden in Eden and puts Adam in the eastern part of Eden to care over and keep it in order. He then instructs him about what trees to eat from and which to not eat from. Before God makes him a helper (on the 6th day) he brings all the creatures to Adam to name all the animals and birds (Gen 2:15). Then God reflects back at what he previously made before man. (Gen 1:24 25 explains the creatures made from the earth according to its kind ) and has Adam name them before he puts him asleep to operate on him to give him his wife
