Utopian Society Essay
1. Utopian Society Essay
Crafting an essay on the concept of a utopian society is a task that demands a delicate balance
between imagination and critical analysis. At its core, the topic necessitates a deep exploration of
idealized visions for societal structures, often intertwined with philosophical, political, and even
speculative elements. One must tread the fine line between envisioning an idyllic utopia and
addressing the practical challenges inherent in its realization.
The complexity of this task lies in the inherent subjectivity of utopian ideals. What might be
considered utopian for one person could be dystopian for another. Thus, the essay writer faces
the challenge of navigating the diverse perspectives and interpretations that surround the notion
of an ideal society. To effectively convey the concept, the essay must delve into historical
attempts at utopian societies, philosophical musings on the topic, and contemporary critiques of
such aspirations.
Moreover, the writer needs to tackle the inherent paradoxes and contradictions that often emerge
when contemplating utopian visions. Is absolute perfection attainable, or does the pursuit of
utopia inadvertently lead to its own downfall? Exploring these nuanced questions requires not
only creativity but also a rigorous examination of societal structures, human nature, and the
potential consequences of drastic social transformations.
In addition to the intellectual demands, the writer must also grapple with the challenge of
articulating complex ideas in a coherent and engaging manner. The essay should captivate the
reader's attention while presenting a well-structured argument supported by evidence and
examples. Striking this balance requires effective communication skills, making the task even
more daunting.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of a utopian society is a formidable undertaking. It
necessitates a deep understanding of historical and philosophical contexts, an ability to navigate
subjective interpretations, and the skill to articulate complex ideas with clarity and coherence.
Despite its challenges, exploring the realm of utopian ideals can be a rewarding intellectual
endeavor for those willing to embrace the complexities inherent in envisioning an ideal society.

2. Golden Age Of Piracy
Pirate, privateer, Cosarios luteranos, and buccaneer are all names given to skilled
ocean sailing vigilantes that survived off of goods they plundered from others.
Pirates drastically altered life in the Caribbean. They controlled both the islands and
the sea during the 1500 s, which is accurately nicknamed The Golden Age of Piracy.
Begining with British Protestants, piracy spread throughout the New World like
wild fire. Notorious criminals in search of wealth overseas, known as pirates, lived
harsh lives and left a major impact on Caribbean history. Many factors led to the
outbreak of piracy in the Caribbean. Conflicts in activities of everyday life, such as
religion, were motives for pirates. Inspired by Martin Luther s 95 Theses, King
Henry VIII split... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there were thousands of pirates throughout the Caribbean, several were
notoriously skilled in the trade, such as Jack Rackham. Also known as Calico Jack
due to his preference for cheap and brightly colored clothes, Rackham succeeded in
attacking many smaller vessels that were abundant in treasures. However, his
expertise in piracy is not the only thing he is famous for. The relationship between
Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, and Marry Reed is one of the most popular stories about
the pirates of the Caribbean. Anne Bonny was married to John Bonny, who
introduced her to the pirate life in New providence, Bahamas. She quickly became
uninterested in her marriage and involved with Calico Jack. Bonny began
disguising herself as a man and sailing the seas with Rackham and his crew. Mary
Read chose the pirate life, as well. Similar to Bonny, Mark Read disguised herself
as a male because she knew life of a man was far easier than the life of a woman in
their time. Bonny became attracted to Read and both revealed her true gender.
Rumor states that the two women were lovers and involved in a love triangle with
Calico Jack, but there is no evidence to justify this
4. The Great House, By Frank Herbert
Literature has gone through many eras, with each changing it in its own way, but it
can be argued that the era that changed literature the most was the modern era. Dune
by Frank Herbert is a science fiction novel of the modern era and fits the modernist
theme to a tee. The modern era, like any other literary era, can be categorized by the
attributes that modernist literature contain. Dune, being a member of the literary era,
is riddled with such attributes. Dune is part of the modern literary era, as shown by it
following the general theme and properties of that era.
In works of the modern literary era figures of authority are often shown as
untrustworthy, this property is clearly visible in Dune. The great houses, a source of
authority in the Dune universe, are widely seen as untrustworthy and suspicious. An
assassination attempt is aimed at main character Paul Atreides. The Atreides, the great
house the main character belongs to, believe it was the Harkonnen s, another of the
great houses, who planned it, showing their distrust and suspicion of them. Duke
Leto says and were Harkonnen creatures almost to a man. They have tried to take the
life of my son! (Dune, pg. 126) showing how his distrust in them causes him to
question their humanity. This shows how the great houses, Dune s form of an
authority figure, are seen as not trustworthy even by the other great houses. The great
houses are not to be trusted, showing how authority in Dune isn t always to be
trusted, but

I went to the post anesthesia care unit on February 2, 2016 for the Wilkes
Community College Nursing Class of 2017 for observation. Another student and I
were assigned to this unit from 8am 2:30pm. Even though our time was cut short we
still got to observe the flow and atmosphere in this unit. It took awhile before we had
our first patient, so we go to explore the area, determine what equipment is in this
area, and communicate with the nurses. We had them explain the documentation
process, and the main differences from a floor nurse than a PACU nurse. The post
anesthesia care unit is next to the operation room and pre operative patient waiting
area. This area has an open floor plan that allows easy communication with other
health care members (CNA, Nurse, Doctor, Anesthesiology, Radiography) and
visually see patient while getting their medication or a drink. They were 8 different
stations in the PACU unit. Each station has equipment for any emergency that could
happen in this area. The equipment included a monitor, suction equipment, a sharps
container, oxygen, IV pole, call light, ambu bag, emebag, air valve and a trash can.
This equipment was present at each station. They were a nutritional area, medication
area, and a nurse s station to toward the back of the unit and on the other side of the
unit they were a crash cart, warming blanket machine and a large clock on the wall.
This was all placed in the unit to improve transportation and efficient patient care.

7. Hopi Indian Perspectives
The Hopi peoples continue to thrive and preserve their culture for as long as
humans have been known to inhabit this Earth. As Jake and Susanne Page
maintain, they are not only the oldest dwellers in this land but are considered by
most other Native Americans to have a wisdom, a knowledge of things, beyond
average comprehension (1994:19). This wisdom comes from a deep connection to
all things natural and of this Earth. The Hopis have always relied on nature to guide
them spiritually, philosophically, as well as physically. They rely on word of mouth
to pass down beliefs and teach values to each new generation so that the
Hopivotskwani the Hopipath of life may continue on. (Parezo 1996:237) Through the

Hopis recognize that their thoughts, prayers, wishes, and feelings affect the balance
of the world around them; therefore simply keeping a positive outlook may be all
the difference needed to keep crops prosperous. (Ferrero 1983) Seen as the future
of the Hopi clan, the Kachinas inspire life on Earth and thereafter. The Hopis
understand that through their hard work, dedication, and faith they are preparing
for the future of their people. Another important part of the Hopi culture, is the
idea that time is circular and ongoing. Hopis emerged from the spirit world to take
on their role in life as part of nature. They believe that their connection with the
land, animals, and spirits is a part of their Hopivotskowani. Therefore, they respect
the natural and cyclical tendency of life. Just as the seasons of the year bring life
and death to many plants and animals, the Hopi people accept life and death as part
of the human existence. While alive, a Hopi must do his/her part to learn about the
culture and how to do things the Hopi way , in order to prepare one s self for the
spirit world. (Ferrero 1983) Then, as one enters the spiritual world, his/her spirit
becomes a force of life giving nature and serves as a guide for young Hopis. The
circular motion of time allows the Hopis to accept occurrences as part of a larger
plan than one can see for one s self.
The Hopi people are extremely passionate about their cultural

The Intervention plan, written for the board of directors of Bank X, consists of two
parts. The first part includes a diagnosis of information which define the core issues
that should be addressed, and secondly provide a fitting intervention plan to guide
Bank X into the right direction.
The board presented a set of problems, what we should solve, the most concerning
are the lack of loyalty among the employees and the lack of honesty of the Bank
towards its environment. We used two diagnostic approaches to reach the core of the
problems Bank X faces, the Onion model invented by Hofstede, which help us to
understand the different layers of the culture in the bank and the Behaviour approach
model, which aims to present a clear summary of the behaviour of your colleagues.
The diagnosed core issue, the outcome of the analysis, is related to the organizational
culture of Bank X. This connection ultimately leads to the question: How can the
management of Bank X overcome these cultural oracles concerning their lack of
loyalty, which mainly results because of the high fluctuation, the high risk taking of
the employees and their self interest and on the other hand, the lack of honesty? ...

Innocence
Dramatic Epiphanies of the Future In the book The Age of Innocence, Edith
Wharton tells the tale of a young man who feels constricted by society, but at the
same time embraces the strict rules that ensure that everyone has a place. Newland
Archer s life in the 1870s in old New York changes when he meets his old playmate,
Ellen Olenska, right before he is about to announce his engagement to her cousin,
May Welland. Newland starts to doubt his relationship and future with May as he
succumbs to Ellen s various charms, and he becomes confused, changing his mind
and being influenced by people around him many times. Throughout the course of
the novel, Newland has several internal awakenings which he treats as if
something dramatic is happening in his life. However, these discoveries are not
real epiphanies, rather they are just Newland imagining his future in an ideal
world. These awakenings are of the mind or body, and they all have to do with
decisions he makes in his love life. Newland Archer is the kind of man who thinks
he is ahead of his time, but when he has the chance to prove that he really believes
in these modern ideas, he falls short. The women s rights movement had just started
to make a name for itself at this time, and people felt that they had to take sides in
the debate. Newland had stated that he believed that Women should be free as free

11. The Portrayal Of Women During The Most Famous
Works,...
William Shakespeare has written many major tragedies, most of which highlight
negative
stereotypes of women. In one of his most famous works, Hamlet, Shakespeare
portrays the
women in the play as being weak, dependent and subordinate to men. Throughout the
play, it
seems as though these women have no actual standing in society. They are shamed for
embracing their sexuality and their opinions are not respected or even taken into
consideration.
Gertrude s character is limited by guilt and she is made to feel apologetic for her
sexuality
throughout the play, solely because she is a woman and such actions are not
condoned. Ophelia s
life in this play is dictated by men. She is seen as incapable of making her own
decisions and
treated as though she needs her father and brother to guide her through life. The two
women are
presented in such ways that demean their character and only focus on them as beings
meant to
please men and do as they are told. Although many improvements have occurred
regarding
women s rights and the portrayal of women, the belief that men are superior to
women in all
aspects of life is still evident throughout Shakespeare #39;s play Hamlet in the
depiction of Gertrude
and Ophelia.
Gertrude is one of only two female characters in Hamlet. Throughout the play, she is

as though
the immediate cause for Hamlet #39;s negative attitude towards women in general is

13. Arch Bridge And The Bridge
Arch bridge is one of the most popular types of bridges, it came into use over 3000
years ago and remained in height of popularity until industrial revolution and
invention of advanced materials that make architect to create other modern bridge
designs. However, even today arch bridges remain in use, the arches can be built on
much larger scales with the help of modern materials. Its curved design is the basic
principle of arch bridge, it does not push load forces straight down, but instead they
are transported along the curve of the archto the supports on each end. These
supports (called abutments) carry the load of all of the bridge and are responsible for
holding the arch in the accurate position stable position. Transporting of forces across
the arch is done through central keystone on the top of the arch. Its weight pushes the
surrounding rocks down and outward, making entire structure very rigid and strong.
Function
An arch bridge is a curved bridge with abutments at each end. Arch bridges work by
transferring the weight of the bridge and its loads partially into a horizontal thrust
restrained by the abutments at either side. For a specific construction method,
especially for masonry arches, the proportions of the arch remain similar no matter
what the size: wider arches are thus required to be taller arches. For a semi circular
arch, the height is half of the span. Bridges across deep, narrow gorges can have
their arch placed entirely beneath a flat roadway, but

Doctor David B. Resnik generally describes these basic rules in his online article:
What is Ethics in Research Why is it Important? . Out of the 16 rules stated
Frankenstein breaks 7: honesty, carefulness, openness, social responsibility, legality,
animal care and most noticeably human subjects protection.
Dr. Resnik describes Human Subjects Protection as: minimize harms and risks and
maximize benefits; respect human dignity, privacy, and autonomy; take special
precautions with vulnerable populations .
As we know this is not what happens. Due to, what I believe to be, Victor s God
Complex he takes it upon himself to create an entirely new species (Shelley, 44)
and in doing so maximises the harms and risks to his human and animal
communities, as he is unaware of the nature of his creation or what dangerous
power it could possess. Not only this but by creating his monster he makes it
vulnerable to the world it is born into as it was made as a solitary creature, with no
special precautions taken to protect it. As well as this, the process of Victor s
scientific experiment completely disregards any ideas of respecting human dignity,
privacy, and autonomy as he, in his own words, collected bones from charnel houses,
and disturbed, with profane fingers, the tremendous secrets of the human frame

To begin with, the audience was predominantly Asian/Asian American whom did

very captivating to observe the comedic scenes in the movie because people who

The Memorandum and Articles of Association ( M A ) of a company are the

The M A take effect in law as a contract between not only the shareholders and the
company, but between each individual shareholder and every other. Generally, an
affected individual shareholder may bring an action in court to prevent any
proposed breach of the M A. In appropriate cases, the court may also set aside acts
done in breach of the M A. However, where a third party is involved, the courts may
be less prepared to set aside the transaction unless the third party knows or possibly

To further entrench rights under the M A, the law provides that the M A can only be

Type 2 Diabetes Teaching Plan

all Hispanic/Latino groups in which 16.9 percent for both men and ladies, contrasted

20. Disney Princess Stereotypes
The next group of Disney Princesses start with The Princess and The Frog (2009)
and go until the most recent princess film, Moana (2016). The other films that fall
into this category are Tangled (2010), Brave (2012), and Frozen (2013). These
princesses are described as rebels who live on the edge, full figured, well endowed,
and sexually charged. Tiana (The Princess and The Frog), Rapunzel (Tangled), and
Anna (Frozen), still end up with a romance at the end of the film. Tiana is Disney s
first African American princess, which was important as up to this point many
young girls did not have a princess that resembled them visually. Tiana exhibits both
typical traits of princesses from the Classic Era, compassion and understanding, as
well as traits typically viewed as masculine in the same films, enterprise, cleverness,
and assertiveness. Although she finds love at the end of the film, it was due to
chance and not from her actively looking for it. The film conveys an important
message that wishing on a star is not going to accomplish anything, but hard work
will. Tiana s goal never changes throughout the film, even after meeting Prince
Naveen and realizing she loves him, her sights always stay on owning a restaurant.
Unlike the previous films that end the narrative with a wedding or presumed
wedding, the narrative continues after Tiana and Naveen get married. The film ends
with her working in the restaurant that she was finally able to open. Although

Despite all these continuing increasing costs, one might predict an increase in the
median household income which however was not always the case. During the
2003 year, the inflation adjusted median household income was calculated to be
$54,079, with a 1.9% inflation rate. Then in 2007 the inflation rate increased to a
high 4.1% but with that the median household income increased accordingly to a
recent hight of $55,627. However, in spite of that, the six years following saw a
sustained inflation rate from the previous year from a high of 3% in 2011 and a
low of .1% in 2008 and although inflation was increasing, the median household
income was steadily decreasing from its high of $55,627 in 2007 to a decade low
of $51,017 in 2012. Inflation rates and household incomes such as these exhibit the
weakening economic reality of Americans as these are national calculations. With
numbers such as these you would not expect an increase in pretty much every

22. Why Groups Experience Conflict Within The Organization
In today s complex business environment managers and employees face many
obstacles relating to working in groups on assigned projects in order to complete
those projects that ultimately contribute to the bottom line, or enables the company
to remain a competitive force within their assigned industry. There are many reasons
as to why groups experience conflict but one business I wantto highlight refers to
conflict within the organizational structure.
Organizational Structure
According to Robbins and Judge (2009), organizational structure explains how job
tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated (pg. 519). When we take a look
at this definition we can all assume that structure brings order and discipline within
the company and informs all employees on what tasks they are expected to perform
on a daily basis that contributes to the organization s success. However, one main
issue that arises from organizational structure and working in groups stems from
when an organizational structure has an abusive leader or manager. When a group or
an organization experiences an abusive leader or manager conflict can arise within
the organization whereby many employees will not respond effectively to the
orders given by the leader and could result in a degradation of job performance.
Many employees would be scared to question immoral tasks in fear of getting fired
or many employees would simply quit performing within their designated job or tasks
that begins a domino
23. Artificial Intelligence Advantages
Artificial Intelligence: 1Introduction to Artificial Intelligence 1.1Artificial
Intelligence (AI): Artificial Intelligence, abbreviated as AI, is defined as the
intelligence exhibited or shown by the machines. AI is the ability of a machine to
mimic intelligent human actions. In other words, artificial intelligence refers to the
study of intelligent agents . 1.1.1.Artificially Intelligent agents: Artificially Intelligent
agents are the machines that recognize and understand their environment and respond
accordingly. The term artificial intelligence is applied to refer to the machines or
systems that carry functions similar to human minds such as the art of learning and

It has disadvantages as well. One major disadvantage is the cost incurred in its
maintenance and repair.Programs need to be updated to suit the changing
requirements and machines need to be made smarter. In case of a breakdown, the cost
may be very high. If the control of machines goes in wrong hands it may cause
destruction. As machines cannot think, they can be usedto do the wrong things or for
mass destruction. The intuitive abilities that human possess, the way humans can
judge based on their previous knowledge, the inherent abilities that they have, cannot
be replicated by machines. Also, machines lack common sense. If robots begin to
replace humans in every field, it will eventually lead to unemployment. People will be
left to do nothing. So much empty time may result in destructive use. Machines may
not be as efficient as humans in altering their responses depending on the changing
situations as they are programmed to function in a usual manner. With the heavy
application of AI, humans may become overly dependent on machines, losing their

24. Essay on The Murder of Mr. and Mrs. Borden
After Lizzie Borden s mother passed away her father remarried. Lizzie was unable to
accept this new marriage and new stepmother who her father brought into their home.
Lizzie was so troubled over this that she attempted to kill her father and stepmother by
poisoning them, which was unsuccessful. In her second attempt Lizzie whacked them
both to death by using a hatchet. Thought Lizzie was found innocent after several
trials the truth was never discovered. When Lizzie Bordendied, she took the truth with
her, being the only person to ever really knowing the truth to what happened to her
father and stepmother that August day.

On the morning of August 2, 1892 Abby and Andrew woke up and they were
complaining of stomach sickness. Abby went to the doctor; Abby s doctor was her
next door neighbor, Doctor Bowen. Doctor Bowen said Abby, you may have been

attempted to poison Mr. and Mrs. Borden ( Lizzie Borden ).
During this time at the Borden House they had a maid that lived at their house.
Their maid was an Irish immigrant. The maid s name was Bridget Sullivan.
Bridget started working at the Borden house in 1889. One day when Bridget,
Lizzie and Emma were the only ones that were home there was a robbery at the
Borden house; the robbery happened in broad daylight. The robber took cash and
jewelry form the Borden house. A few days before the robbery Lizzie was accused of
shoplifting by a local business man, so Lizzie was the prime suspect of the robbery.
After the robbery took place all doors and windows are kept locked on the inside and

25. Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom Essay
Progression, the ever enduring race of humankind to becoming better and more
advanced beings, has become interwoven with technology, as nearly all aspects of one
s life, whether it being at home, for leisure, at work, or in the educational sector is
entwined with elements of digitality. This notion leads one to see that the
participation with technologies can be an essential aspect of one s progression in this
new contemporary society. The emergence and subsequent dominance of Information
Communication Technology (ICT) in this digitally mediated world has led to the
need for digital education in schools, which in turn can bring both potentials and
challenges in divergent school settings, as digital literacies bring differing values and
meanings in relation to the setting they are situated in. Transitioning from old to new
literacies; digital literacyas a socially imbued construct; digital divide; ICT out of
school; educators and ICT; and implementing ICT in the classroom will be discussed
in order to extricate both the potentials and challenges with the immersion of digital
literacies in education.
Transitioning from Old to New Literacies
Over the years, as with most things, literacy too, has changed, transformed and
progressed into a more complex and nuanced construct. In the past, old literacies
chiefly utilised alphabetic literacy, as its main tool, such as the printing press, having

26. Electronic Communication by President Abraham Lincoln
What became of our forces which held the bridge till twenty minutes ago...? The
President of the United States telegraphed a colonel in the field during the Civil War
Battle of Second Manassas (Bull Run) in 1862. Abraham Lincoln was using the new
medium of electronic communications in an unprecedented manner to revolutionize
the nature of national leadership.
When Lincoln arrived for his inauguration in 1861 there was not even a telegraph line
to the War Department, much less the White House. Storm clouds were brewing, but
when the US Army wanted to send a telegram they did like everyone else: sending a
clerk with a hand written message to stand in line at Washington s central telegraph
office. That unwieldy situation changed rapidly, however, as wires were strung to the
War Department and other key installations. The White House, however, remained
without any outside connection.
The national leaders were like their constituents in their understanding of electronic
communications. While an interesting and growing technology, the telegraph s
potential was still widely underappreciated and it certainly had never been tested in a
time of crisis. This reality makes Lincoln s subsequent embrace of the new technology
even more remarkable. Without the guidance of precedent, and in the middle of a
battle for the nation s survival, Abraham Lincoln used the new electronic
communications to transform the nature of the presidency. The telegraph became a
tool of his leadership

28. Descriptive Essay About Lost Or Abandoned
Lost or Abandoned?
Have you ever gotten lost? I have. Or maybe I was abandoned? I don t know. I was
at Space Academy, at The Space and Rocket Center in Alabama, attending an
activity with other campers. In my group, there were three girls. I saw them all day
and night because I was in the same dorm as them. We got along pretty well, until I
got lost. Or maybe my group abandoned me... But let me step back a bit...
It was an ordinary day at Space Camp: wake up at 7, go brush my teeth, get dressed,
and li ne up. I went to the rides I usually go on with my group. We had fun, but then
it got really hot so we had to go inside. We went to a movie then we went to lunch. I
had an ordinarily fantastic lunch (like everyday), and my friends each had a
couple cans of Nos. Nos is a drink that has 260 grams of caffeine, which is a lot. (I
mean like 20 cups of coffee a lot) I didn t have any, and they all became inordinately
giddy. They were all laughing and jumping and their eyes became extremely dilated. I
laughed harder than my brain could handle.
Then we went to an indoor ride I put my stuff down and got on, it was a lot of fun!
Then it happened.
The counselor told us to get our stuff and I looked down to grab my stuff. I had lost
something so I looked around. And when I couldn t find it, I finally looked up.
Everyone was gone...
I was terrified...
I kept calm and went to find someone who could help me. I found someone who
worked there and I said, I got separated from my group. My group

J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish
At first glance, J.D. Salinger s short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish is the story
of a psychically torn war veteran whose post traumatic stress moves him to take his
own life while on a second honeymoon with his wife. Indeed, that is the story, but that
first glance does not reveal the inner motives and symbolic pathways Seymour Glass
takes to reach the final decision to end his life. The carefully placed details and
minute innuendoes are deliberate on Salinger s part, and they represent pieces of the
puzzle to find out what is really happening in the protagonist s head. Indeed, A Perfect
Day is just one part of the Glass family saga, and Seymour s character and family ...

Now, if instead of ?See More? Glass we define him as ?See More Glass? then I
have a slightly more cryptic interpretation for his name. Now, the Glass family is
Jewish, as is established in Salinger?s Nine Stories, and Seymour is a veteran of
World War II. Before America?s involvement in the war, on November 9th, 1938,
there was a very violent uprising of Reich citizens against the Jewish population
orchestrated by Joseph Goebbels. During that time thousands Jewish citizens were
rounded up for concentration camps and their businesses were destroyed, littering
the streets with glass from their storefronts. That night came to be known as the
Kristallnacht, or in English, the ?Night of Broken Glass.? Though I know there is
no direct link to this night in the story, and indeed it took place before Seymour
was even in Europe, it has a direct link to the first major violence against Jews as
well as a sharp spike in the number of Jewish adults who committed suicide to
escape the horrors of the Reich. The perhaps far fetched, I feel this more esoteric
interpretation of Seymour?s name could well represent the link to the horrors he
experienced during his tenure in World War II.
A name is a metaphysical representation of a person, but there are physical hints in
Seymour?s characterization that hint towards a greater purpose in his actions. Muriel

30. The Weaknesses Of The Weimar Republic
The statement to a great extent is false as the period of 1919 1924 in Germany
evidenced the weaknesses of the Weimar Republic, and the seemingly prosperous
years of 1924 1928 was built of shaky foundations and that Weimar Germany was
doomed from the start (Kershaw). The fundamental flaws of the Weimar constitution
allowed it to be exploited and constantly undermined by its enemies, such as the
extreme right and left wings, in many ways, the longevity Weimar Republicwas
tainted from its genesis. The fragility of the Weimar republic was highlighted by its
economic instability, the ongoing impacts caused by the Treaty of Versailles
and the
complexity of the Weimar system of Government.

One of the fundamental flaws of the Weimar Constitution was that parties who
were opposed to democracy, such as the Nazis and Communists, had the ability to
be in power, which would later become a reality in 1933. After the death of
President Ebert in 1925, Paul von Hindenburg, who was a supporter of the
monarchy, was elected as President and leader of the German nation, further
adding to the inadequacies for democracy, which were tolerated by the system.
The nature in which seats in the Reichstag could be won also meant that there were
constant problems as no one party ever had the majority, causing the need for
coalitions and therefore compromises in policies were made in order to appease all
parties, even in the so called good years of 1924 1928, there were 6 changes in
government due to changes in coalitions. Additionally, the existence of Article 48 in
the Weimar Constitution eliminated democracy despite the good intentions that it
was created for. Article 48 allowed the President to take emergency powers and it
was overused during the period of 1930 33 by Hindenburg to keep a Chancellor in
power. The Article itself undermined democracy and as a result, the Weimar Republic
was severely impacted, as the stability of any Government would be reliant on the
discretion of Hindenburg. The complex nature of the Weimar system of Government

32. Mucus Essay
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in the

Mucus is a thick secretion made up of water, electrolytes, and a mixture of several
glycoproteins. The Glycoproteins are made up of large polysaccharides which are
bound with much smaller quantities of protein.
Mucus is slightly different in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract. It has
numerous important characteristics applicable everywhere that make it both a superb
lubricant and a protectant for the wall of the gut. These are as follows:
1.It has adherent qualities it adheres tightly to the food or other particles to spread as
a thin film over the surfaces.
2.It has sufficient body the wall of the gut is coated by the mucus and ... Show more

It causes fecal particles to adhere to one another to form the fecal masses that are
excreted during a bowel movement.
5.It can t be easily digested by the gastrointestinal enzymes (very strong resistance).
6.The glycoproteins of mucus have amphoteric properties (they are capable of
buffering small amounts of either acids or alkalies) and mucus regularly contains
moderate amounts of bicarbonate ions, which particularly neutralise acids.
Mucus allows easy slippage of food along the gastrointestinal tract and to prevent
abrasive or chemical damage to the epithelium. When the salivary glands does not
secrete saliva you very quickly become aware of the lubricating qualities of mucus,
as it is then difficult to swallow solid food even when it is eaten while drinking large
amounts of water.
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in other parts of
the body
The mucus secreted by the epithelial cells within the linings of the respiratory and
upper gastrointestinal tracts also contains antimicrobial chemicals. As mucus is
sticky, particles that stick to it are prevented from entering the blood. In the upper
respiratory tract they are swept by ciliary action up into the pharynx and then
swallowed, or are phagocytosed by macrophages in the various

The Tokyo railway station building is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan in the
Marunouchi business district. The station which acts as Tokyo s main intercity
terminal is served by the Tokyo Metro network, Japan Railways regional commuter
lines as well as the Shinkansen high speed railway lines. The Tokyo Station also has a
reputation of being the busiest station in the country, judging by the number of trains
it serves per day; approximately three thousand trains in one day. Furthermore, the
trainstation has a hotel and gallery within its premises. In terms of architecture and
historical culture, the station actually has a long history that dates back more than a
hundred years, thereby making it one of the one of the few major examples of
buildings designed in classical style remaining in Tokyo, and Japan as a whole.
Chronicle information of the building Even though the Tokyo Station was
constructed in 1914, its actual plan is connected to the history of Japan s rail in the
1880s (Ito n.p). It is therefore viewed by the Japanese as being significant in the
advancement of rail technology and as a symbolic structure within Japan. By 1885,
several railway tracks were already passing through Tokyo, thereby necessitating the
need for a central terminal to be built in the region between Ueno and Shinbashi. The
station which was to accommodate Tokyo s entire network was simply referred to as
the central terminal (Ito n.p). The project for the Tokyo Station was first offered

The Flaws of the Socratic Method
In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes
dialogues between the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to
illustrate contradictory positions. He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of
discussion now called the Socratic Method, where Socrates critiques the positions of
the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate arguments. Although this
method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when Plato himself is
using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed way
of conducting educational discourse.
The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show

The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions,
because the Method aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for
building towards the truths for which it aims. Without a way to cull the ideas
presented by the students, a professor must engage each of them as comprehensively
as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else compromise the integrity of the
dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional
education style, each lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific
concept and a specific and relevant set of arguments and objections can be presented
and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform conversation with inconsistent
results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and Taylor).
Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging
them in a Socratic Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of
students. Christopher Ford describes the modern usage of the Socratic Method as
psychologically abusive, saying that the public questioning is terrifying and that the
style is both invasive in that student s knowledge/intelligence is publically examined,
and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of
systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s
argument can be extremely humiliating and can trigger

Claudius, as emperor, was told it was politically necessary to have a partner, upon

for his marriage to Agrippina. It was Pallas who presented Agrippina s case (as she

wanted to promote her son to become emperor (Suetonius), and aspired for political
power for herself in regards to the Principate and Claudius. The power gave her the
ability to dispose of any enemies who got in her way.
Not only did she develop a reputation for running the Principate (acknowledging, and

In the article, Dorothea Lange, Migrant Mother, and the Culture of the Great

to represent a message. Dorothea Lange became very popular during her time and is
known especially for her photo, Migrant Mother, which documents life during the
Great Depression. James C. Curtis does a good job explaining the artistic decisions
to this most famous shot and how many different steps Lange took in order to really
create a powerful message depicting life in poverty. Curtis begins this article by
describing how Lange was a little different from traditional documentary
photographers. Tradition was honesty, directness, and a lack of manipulation. Lange
and other influential photographers like Walker Evans, knew that they had to
document life with a purpose but in order to really convey their message they had to
include artistic elements. Aesthetic was an important part of her work, she wanted
her photos to have an artistic value which could help capture the universal struggle
of those living in poverty. In order to do this she had to do many different shots with
different angles, different positions of the subjects, and sometimes including or
excluding certain sitters. For example the teenage daughter of the family was
excluded in some of the photos because it presented awkward questions. According

41. Jasper Jones
On the AMC hit television show, Mad Men, the main character Don Draper spoke
very powerful words when he said, People tell you who they are but we ignore it,
because we want them to be who we want them to be. . The main character of the
novel written by Craig Silvey titled, Jasper Jones dealt with the troubles of, as Don
Draper said, people ignoring who somebody is simply because we want them to be
who we want. Set in 1965 in a small West Australian town called Corrigan, main
character, Charlie Butkin is faced with the fear of being drafted into war with
Vietnam and seeing his friends treated poorly by others because of racism. The novel
kick starts, however, when Charlie is interrupted by Jason Jones tapping on his
window asking Charlie... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters in the story saw exactly just how twisted and heartless people can
be in this world, and that just because you are seen one way it does not mean that
that way is true. The quote of Don Draper about how we see people as what we
want them to be goes hand in hand with the theme of Jasper Jones, which was
growing up and seeing the world how it really is, and not just how you thought it was
when you were
42. The Fuzzy Logic System
Artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques provide a qualitative as well
as quantitative assessment of the power system.
1. Fuzzy Logic: The Fuzzy logic system (FLS) is a logic system which represents
reasons and knowledge in a fuzzy manner for reasoning under uncertainty or
describes in imprecise manner for human interpretation. Not like Boolean logic and
classic logic which assumes that entire fact is either true or false, but fuzzy logic
allows Boolean logic to tackle with vague and imprecise expressions of human
understanding. Not like the classic logic systems, it models the reasoning for
imprecision model that plays important role in ability of human knowledge to
understand an estimated or inexact answer for a question which is based on store of
knowledge which is approximate, not complete or totally unreliable. It is the best

different linguistic variable and with the membership function associated with it. The
inputs to the fuzzy inference system are line loadings, and voltage profiles indices
and the outputs to the same FIS are the severity indices, which are computed using
the simple set of rules of Fuzzy. The post contingent quantities of line flows and bus

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien Don t judge a book by its cover. This famous phrase
can very well be applied to the hobbit a small human like creature that goes along
with 13 dwarves and a wizard. The wizard, Gandalf, has total faith in the little
hobbit knowing full well that when the time comes he will serve the dwarves quite
well. He does this with the help of a ring that makes him invisible. He saves the
dwarves from evil spiders that wish to eat them. Uses it to help them escape the
clutches of elves that would keep them in their clutches for some time. And to find
out the weakness of an evil dragon bent on destroying all those opposing him. Our

After which he puts on his ring of invisibility and taunts the spiders into following
him away from his friends. He then doubles back and cuts his friends out of their
respective webs. After that there is a long battle the spiders venom had weakened
the dwarves almost to a point that they couldn t stand. So Bilbo had to do most of
the fighting. He saved his friends. They get away and all live happily ever after
#8230; right? No there will be more danger this is only the beginning. After all of
Bilbo s friends are saved elves capture them. It is a good thing Bilbo has his ring
on. He follows the elves and gets into the place in which they are captured. He then
hatches a plan to save them. He has to steal a key when there is a large banquet
happening so as most of the elves are busy, then he must release his friends and
stow them away in barrels that are to be sent down the river having been used.
Now this sounds like a difficult task but not for our friend Bilbo who is very adept
at getting out of tight situations. He releases his friends much to all the elves
dismay. Then after all the trouble you would think the rest to be a walk in the park.
It is just not that easy. Now they must face a dragon, to claim the treasure they were
after from the beginning. Bilbo goes into the dragon s cave silently and invisibly but
the dragon has an astute sense of smell! Bilbo has been caught. However not
completely caught because the dragon can still not

Julius Caesar is only one of the many famous political assassinations. Martin Luther
King Jr. was another political person that was tragically assassinated. Between the
descriptions, the motives, and the effects of the assassinations of Julius Caesar
and Martin Luther King Jr. there are many similarities and differences. On March

Caesar was killed by his friends for the good of their city. On the other hand, Martin
was assassinated due to his strong motives for getting equal rights for African
Americans. The motives for the assassinations didn t quite match up either,
depending on how you view them. Martin was killed because his assassin believed
that what he was working towards for America was horribly disgusting. Brutus
killed Caesar for the good of Rome. Outcomes of the assassinations are mostly
similar. When Caesar died, citizens of Rome became outraged with this action. They
began a war. When Martin was killed, African Americans began to push harder and
work harder towards the hopeful future. Again, Julius Caesar wasn t the only political

46. Dementia Patients Communication Skills Essay
Effective Communication Strategies for Health Care Professionals in Dementia Units
For health care professionals (HCP) communicating with dementia patients can be
challenging in most health settings. Dementia is a degenerative disease that causes a
decline in cognitive and functional abilities, as the condition progresses the ability to
communicate worsens (Kilgore, 2015). HCP employed within dementia units require
an individual approach when communicating with patients, as people with dementia
(PWD) can become easily disorientated and confused (Kilgore, 2015). Nonverbal
communication such as listening can uncover underlying problems with patients
health. Whereas, verbal communication is the application of language, such as tone

Due to dementia patients deteriorating of cognitive function, this may have an
effect on whether or not a message is successfully understood (Downs Collins,
2015). Communication is an extremely important part of caring for people with
dementia, for this reason ensuring information is delivered efficiently and
meaningfully it is imperative for HCP to develop tailored approaches (Downs
Collins, 2015; Kilgore, 2015). Such methods that can improve communication with
dementia patients are reduce rate of speech with verbatim repetition with the use
of simple sentences (de Vries, 2013). Additionally, allowing the person time to
process and respond to what has articulated (de Vries, 2013). When talking to a
PWD, talk in a clear voice and allow them time to respond (McEvoy Plant, 2014).
Closed questions may possibly be used to facilitate the completion of daily activities
whereas, open ended questions can lead to conversations (de Vries, 2013; Kilgore,
2015). It has been assessed when verbally communicating to people with dementia
using a tone that exerts control or infantilising communication also known as elder
speak results in the patient becoming resistant to care (de Vries, 2013). Through
improving interactions with HCP, communication skills can have significance on
improving the quality of life and well being for those living with dementia (McEvoy
Plant, 2014). Being
47. Evidence Asimov Analysis
Robots coexisting in the human world can be beneficial to many people s lives by
allowing tasks to be performed at a much faster rate. By Google definition robots
are machines capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically,
especially one programmable by a computer; (especially in Science Fiction) a
machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements
and functions automatically. Many people think of robots as metal machines that
come in various shapes and sizes; not machines that look and act in such ways like
a human. Robots and other alike machines are widely used across the globe. In
factories, schools, homes, hospitals... Whilst technology grows, the need for these
complex machines becomes much greater. These machines are able to perform tasks
at a much greater speed, accuracy, and complexity compared to manual labor. In
Asimov s short story Evidence, a man by the name of Stephen Byerley was in a
horrific accident that should have resulted in his death. When Stephen runs for
mayor, Frances Quinn, his runner up, claims that the real Stephen Byerley, rather
than having recovered, was permanently disfigured and crippled by the accident, and
the Byerley who appears in the public is a humanoid robot, created by Stephen
Byerley. Asimov mentions the Three Laws of... Show more content on

I do not believe that the short story, Evidence, is accurate in its depiction of society
s treatment of robots. In the research we have seen thus far, the acceptance of
robots in today s society is almost unknown due to the fact that many people do not
realize they amount of robotics that they already use in their daily lives. Robots are a
very beneficial thing, and I do not believe that we need a set of laws like Asimov s to
govern the behavior of robots as they become more advanced... Robots can be people
48. Essay on Existentialism in Bill Watterson’s Comic
Strips
Bill Watterson is an American cartoonist, author of the famous comic strips Calvin
and Hobbes syndicated from 1985 to 1995. In these short stories, Calvin is a
creative kid full of childish pranks, and together with Hobbes, a deep thinking stuffed
tiger, they both stand as examples of existentialism in comic strips. Through Calvin s
desperate choices and decisions over many circumstances in the stories, he struggles
against a continually changing world. The characters actions portray the humanity
disorder; people who are controlled in a worthless way of life against a ruthless
nature, a cruel world, and inevitable death.
All through these modern comic strips, Bill Watterson created Calvin as a unique
character contrasting with any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are able to compare their own situations to Calvin s, and understand the
ironies of making a desperate forced decision. His incredible sarcasm and defiance
appeal to people s inner sense of injustice. Calvin makes people s own desperate
choices seem not so desperate (The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book).
The picture of life as being uncontrollable, brings people back into their own world,
and makes them grateful not to be in Calvin s existential condition (Calvin and
Hobbes and the Moral Sense: A Farewell).
Therefore, Calvin character s judgment is strong; he knows he is stuck in a world of
chain reactions (Calvin and Hobbes and the Moral Sense: A Farewell). It s simple to
follow, and to demonstrate, how large the existentialism influence is in Bill
Watterson s Calvin and Hobbes comics. In existentialism theory, this means that
choices people make are a consequence their previous decisions, and each one s
decision determines the variety of the next choices people will face (The Humanism
of Existentialism II). One great cartoon example is when Calvin is in his speedy red
wagon tumbling down a hill, and randomly chooses to go left. Without a doubt, this
sudden decision of him creates a chain reaction of choices, which ultimately causes
Calvin to jump from the mountain into a river (The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth
Anniversary Book). These

The World on the Turtles Back is a creation myth from the Iroquois cultural
perspective, having various similarities and differences from the Catholic creation
story. The World on the Turtles Back and Genesis have comparisons between good
and evil, the women being the one disobeying the rules, a sacred tree. Both start with
a heaven, animal roles, and the creator of earth.
In the beginning of The Worldon the Turtles Back explains that there was no life on
earth only a vast ocean. If we read Genesis from the Bible there was also no life
until God created the heavens and earth. The Iroquois people believe in a heaven
they called the Sky World . Genesis mentions the creation of heaven which is where
God lives. As we can see both stories mention a heaven ... Show more content on

In The World on the Turtles Back the creator of earth is the woman. When she falls
from the Sky World she uses soil to form earth. The woman took the tiny clod of
dirt and placed it on the middle of the great sea turtles back. Then the woman
began to walk in a circle around it, moving in the direction the sun goes. The earth
began to grow. ( The World on the Turtles Back lines 63 65.) A sacred tree is
another reference found in both tales. In Genesis said tree is forbidden for Adam
and Eve to approach. The Great Tree for Iroquois was not supposed to be marked
or mutilated, it also was a holy symbol. Another aspect of the comparisons of the
trees is that Eve committed a sin when eating the forbidden fruit. In The World on
the Turtle Back the woman grabbed a piece of bark from the tree and thus breaking
the rules.
There is a contradiction in the roles of the animal in both narrations: the serpent
entices and persuades Eve on wrongdoing, as she eats the fruit. The Iroquois woman
is rescued by birds as she falls from the Sky World , and is aided by sea creatures to
create

senior academy and one lecturer in public Saudi University represented the
educational technology perspective. All participants were male aged between 37 to
50 and no female were interviewed. Six participants worked as system analysts
during their career. Participants worked in a broad range of positions within the
organisation; the lowest has three years experience, and the height has ten years
experience. All earned university degrees. Four are Saudi Arabian and four not
Saudi citizen but all practices Islam as a religion. The interviews were held between
June 2016 and July 2016 in Saudi Arabia. The interviews were followed up by e
mail correspondence for data validation and in depth clarification. However, two
senior academics expressed the intention to participate in the study, but we could not

51. Effect Of Potential Energy On Roller Coasters
I.Science Fair Question
How does height (rise) and the loop radius influence the conversion of potential
energy to kinetic energy using a model roller coaster track?
II.Background Research
Did you ever wonder how a roller coaster works? Why does one roller coaster go
faster than another at certain points on the ride? This paper will discuss how
potential energy turns into kinetic energy at different points along the track of a roller
coaster. The important terms that will be discussed are potential energy (stored
energy), kinetic energy (energy of motion), gravitational potential energy (GPE), and
conservation of energy (basic law of physics).
Potential energy (PE) is the energy possessed by a body as a result of its position or
condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the absence of change in the amount a physical quantity, such as mass, during a
physical or chemical transformation (The American Heritage Student Science
Dictionary 80). In physics, conservation of energy cannot be made and it cannot be
ruined (Roller Coaster Marbles: Converting Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy).
Conservation of energy stays the same, the value doesn t change. Some types of
energy include kinetic, potential, gravitational potential, and heat. They can change
into different systems, but the value won t change as long as it has conservation of
energy. Conservation of energy itself and conservation of mechanical energy are two
types of energy. Conservation of mechanical energy is easier to understand and
calculate, but it only happens when everything is conserved (What is Conservation of

people who had gathered around to watch the action asked about what had

loud as I had practiced multiple times before in my head. Del was worried about
Rich removing him from his will taking with it the only life he knew and treasured.
He figured the only way to fix the problem was to kill. (People nowadays!)
Anyway, he had been learning and mastering the skill of mind control and decided
to test it out on a fellow who would be the least likely to be suspected. Dee! During
this time, a meeting had been occurring between Hugh, Justin, and Dee. Dee
needed help to debug the system but what Justin planned was to steal the whole
program. Justin went to talk to Rita at the same time that Dee took a bathroom
break . She made sure that H.T. was preoccupied and put on gloves to leave no
trace behind. Mind you, she was being manipulated by Del the whole time. Before
the murder, Rita had drugged Rich so that Justin was able to steal the program. Her
reason for betrayal was because he had been the one to break it off, leaving her the
one with hurt feelings. I guess that never settles well with ferocious sirens like her.
Dee came in soon after Rita and finished up the job by strangling Rich with a mouse
cord and punching the daylight out of him. She drops the gloves underneath Hugh s
bed and returns to the meeting. It continues until everyone has returned to their
places. Dee, having lost all memory of her actions goes to ask a question from Rich.
She screams and everyone runs over. And that s where my story begins. It was quite
hard to piece together the parts but when it is done, it is refreshing! So when are

The characters in Spielberg movies are often extreme.

THE SPIELBERG FACE . The technique of Spielberg s face is to zoom in on a
character as they are looking at something. Most of the time the face is fully

character shows their expression. Spielberg was the first to show the technique and
this is why its called the Spielberg face. Spielberg face is present in all his movies
like Jurassic Park, Close Encounters and The Color Purple.
