Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and
me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame
exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the
grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The
next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow
catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this
restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber
Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good
restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think
about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes
any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant
that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly
Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best
bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive
qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food.

Construction Projects For The Construction Industry
Introduction Construction projects contain a high level of complicated procurement processes. Not
only the revenue or profit is critical in the construction industry, but market intelligence and
construction procurement knowledge are also important. The bidding process in the construction
industry is illustrated by many different involved parties including the architectural and engineering
firms, client, general contractors, material suppliers, specialized contractors, manufacturers, etc.
(Halaris, 2001). Preparing proposed documents, appraising bids, and awarding the contract to the
winner of the bid are among the major duties of the client (Gokhan et al, 2006). (Gokhan et al, 2006)
Fig. 1. Bid proposal preparation process Sub contracting has comprehensively been used in the
construction industry. It allows general contractors to employ the lowest workforce in construction
projects and promotes specialization (Maturana, 2005). Many general contractors only play a role as
construction management agents in construction projects, for example, they sub contract a large
volume of their work to sub contractors (Shash, 1998). The characteristic bidding process is showed in
Fig. 1. Bidding requirements and procedures vary and have disparate requirements that are created by
the owners. There is a challenge of a bidding procedure is the quantity of paper based forms that need
to be filled, revised, and filed. This spends a large amount of time, which the contractor changes very

Air Station Kodiak Case Study
1. Air Station Kodiak experiences a significant shortage of personnel during transfer season. The lack
of personnel happens every year with 1/3 of the workforce who transfer out. With the high rate of
yearly transferees comes lack of personnel to fix aircraft, support the flight schedule and handicaps the
training program. Coast Guard Enlisted Personnel Management needs to change overseas tour lengths
for Air Station Kodiak.
2. The current policy ref. (b) sets a standard for three year tours for both accompanied and

Compare The Poem I Wandered As Lonely As A Cloud By...
The inspiration for both William Wordsworth s poem I wandered as lonely as a cloud and Dorothy s
journal entry comes from a walk they took in the Lake District along the Gowbarrow park. The
daffodils alongside the riverbank struck both enough to write about them. Though daffodils serve as
the focal point for both writings, Dorothy records the sight in front of her whereas William offers a
more mystical and spiritual perception of the experience. The first hint that William s poem is more
mystical than Dorothy s journal is in the number of daffodils and the perfection within them. Dorothy
writes only a few flowers were seen close to the water before walking along the lake to see more of
them. This naturalistic observation of how daffodils are dispersed in the wild. She also writes about
the imperfectness of their structure There was here and there a little knot, and a few stragglers a few
yards higher up . In William s poem, the daffodils emerge all at once When all at once I saw a crowd,
/A host, of golden daffodils; . He further emphasizes the point by saying the daffodils are endless and
continuous, stretching in a never ending line. This hyperbole and the difference in the imagery
suggests that the daffodils are mystical and unearthly in the poem and a natural experience in the
journal. William also describes the color of the daffodils as golden instead of the more common
yellow, focusing on their majesties and grandeur. The contrast in the mood shift of both

James Franco, Renaissance Man
By definition, a Renaissance man is one who has acquired profound knowledge or proficiency in more
than one field. Normally one from the renaissance time period(1905 1910). A modern day Renaissance

How To Legalize Medical Marijuana
Imagine you have just been diagnosed with cancer. The chemotherapy drugs have left you feeling
extremely nauseous; the anti nausea drugs aren t working. Marijuana would help but, if you took it
you would be a criminal act. The government needs to stop being swayed by negative information and
allow marijuana to be legalised for medical use.
Marijuana has many positive effects it makes the side effects from chemotherapy subside. Some may
argue that there are many drugs that can help with these symptoms. However, since the legalization of
medicinal marijuana in California, many patients have said that marijuana is the only thing that helps
achieve symptom relief. Some patients have said that it improves the use of other prescribed drugs
such as dexamethasone sodium phosphate, a medication used to treat blood ... Show more content on

And with medical marijuana you need more; it is an expensive treatment. If it was legalised it would
become cheaper because supply would increase and it becomes less valuable.
3: Report officials and data collectors have said that since 2012 when marijuana was first legalised in
America it has not increased recreational use of the drug by a large number. Medical marijuana is not
all of the plant itself. The main beneficial part of the plant is all the doctors need for the treatment,
which is CBD. The CBD is extracted from the plant and is used. Which is where it becomes useless to
drug deals trying to steal some to sell, as the additive part THC is removed and becomes less harmless
to the brain.
So the Pros overweight the negatives so it should be legal. I think if people are saying it helps them
the government should legalise it, as they are why behind the rest of the world with medication that is
beneficial. If the rest of the world is doing it why shouldn t

Describe How Several Ways Mineral Crystals Can Form
1. What is a mineral, as geologists understand the term? How is this definition different from the
everyday usage of the word?
To a geologist, a mineral is naturally occurring solid, formed by geologic processes that have a
crystalline structure and a definable chemical composition. Its internal structure characterized by an
orderly arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules in a crystalline lattice. Almost all minerals are
inorganic, for instance, sugar is an organic chemical in which is made by carbon, hydrogen, and
oxygen that it is not a mineral.
2. Why is glass not a mineral?
A glass isn t a mineral because crystalline structure in which the atoms make up a mineral aren t
distributed randomly and cannot move around easily, and the atoms in a glass aren t arranged in an
orderly pattern. Moreover, both minerals and glasses are solids, and they can retain their shape, but a
mineral is crystalline ,and glass is not because the atoms, ions, or molecules are the elements in a
mineral are ordered into a crystal lattice, and glass doesn t has those elements and disorderly arrange.
3. Describe the several ways that mineral crystals can form.
The mineral crystals can form in five ways. First, they can form by the solidification of a melt which
the freezing of a liquid, such as ice crystals are a type of mineral made by freezing water. Second, they

Improving Decision Tree Performance Methods
There are several improvement methods are available to improve decision tree performance in terms
of accuracy, and modelling time. Since experimenting with every available method is impossible,
some of the methods are selected that are proven to increase decision tree performances. Selected
improvement methods and their experimental setups are presented in this chapter.
4.1 Correlation Based Feature Selection
Feature selection is a method used for reducing number of dimensions of a dataset by removing
irrelevant and redundant attributes. Given a set of attributes F and a target class C, goal of feature
selection is to find a minimum set of F that will yield highest accuracy (for C) for the classification
task. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, method is performing well for C4.5 algorithm is likely to perform well for ID3 algorithm.
Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as much
as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008).
CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures
goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good feature
subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other. Equation 1
below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(k¯(r_ci ))/√(k+k(k 1)¯(r_ii ))
Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ¯(r_ci ) is
average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class, and
¯(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes.
A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast
Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). This
algorithm is preferred over other available correlation based attribute selection algorithms since while
other implementations of CFS using forward sequential or greedy search methods (e.g. MRMR/CFS
developed by Schoewe,

Emergency Department Staffing
In a hospital, the Emergency Department is the most crucial area (Girija Bhat, 2013). With many
challenges, the Emergency Department must operate efficiently in an effort to deliver quality care in a
timely manner while meeting the patient demand based on volume size (Richard Jarvis, 2016). If there
is an unbalanced match with the patient demand with the Emergency Department capacity and staffing
to deliver care within a timely manner, it can reflect on the patient flow and can create crowding and
long throughput times (Richard Jarvis, 2016). As a result, it can lead to poor quality of care and patient
outcomes (Richard Jarvis, 2016). On the other hand, the shortest throughput time while operating
efficiently with the needed staffing can lead to good patient satisfaction and better outcomes (Richard
Jarvis, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this goal, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital created a fast track team consisting of a nurse
practitioner, nurse, and a tech for signage at the entrance to reduce throughput time (McHugh, Van
Dyke, McClelland Moss, October 2012). However, this takes way staffing in the Emergency
Department treatment area that can help to reduce additional excessive throughput time.
To improve the Emergency Department patient flow with having sufficient staffing without the
signage fast track team, I will reduce the throughput time, even more using process measurements of a
predictive model, sensitive analysis, and lean six sigma improvement process as follows:
With a Predictive Model, data will be obtained from the electronic health record system for a two year
period to analysis throughput time based on the day and time of arrival to the time discharged. Otles,

Tea Industry in Bangladesh
INTRODUCTION
Bangladesh is a small tea producing country sharing 2% of the world s Tea production. Tea is an agro
based, lab our intensive and export oriented sector and plays an important role in the national
economy through export earnings, trade balancing and employment generation. Our Tea industry dates
back to 1857 when the first tea garden was established at Malnicherra in Sylhet District. Today we
have 163 Tea Gardens with a grant area of 1,15,757.41 hal of which 52,317.21 hal or 45% is under

Tea Plantation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh produces and exports a large quantity of high quality tea. Most of the tea plantations are
situated in the northeastern areas of the country, around Sylhet and Srimongal. Sylhet is situated close
to Bangladesh s border with the Indian states of Meghalaya and Assam. This part of the country is
covered by hillocks rising to moderate heights. The rainfall is higher than average, a fact which British
tea planters realised in the 18th century to the advantage of tea cultivation. These conditions have
provided rich tropical forests with many species of wildlife, scented orange groves and pineapple
plantations. It is also the home of Khashia and Monipuri tribals.
The waterfalls of Madhab Kunda are another very picturesque place to visit. Jafflong, where the river
runs along the border between Bangladesh and India is especially beautiful. On the way there are
number of haors or marshy wetlands, which are natural, depressed swamps holding water almost the
whole year round. They are home to many fish and thousands of local and migratory birds.

Global Marketing Campaigns For Multi National Brands
The key issue discussed within the article was about whether companies with brands that run across
countries should go global or localize their advertising campaigns for multi national brands. Global
marketing campaigns allow for brands to run the same marketing campaigns across many different
countries, utilizing the same creative with few changes across multiple regions of the world. Global
marketing campaigns are very efficient because they allow for a single creative message to be utilized
which is cheaper and faster to produce, allows for easy media purchases, and is simpler to traffic
creative to different locations. In the case, the marketing team for Johnny Walker wanted to utilize this
global marketing method, by creating one commercial that could be run across multiple countries with
little to no variations to the creative in each market (only small changes would be made, e.g.
translating languages). The problem with global marketing campaigns is different countries often have
different interpretations of the creative, due to the unique cultural, demographic, and economic
situations they are surrounded by. This can lead audiences within one country to be highly receptive to
a message, and an audiences in another country to interpret it in a different way. In the Johnny Walker
example, they created one commercial that featured young men doing different extreme and exciting
adventures, showing that Johnny Walker empowered them to do what they wanted in their lives.

Twenty years ago, BP was nothing like the powerful multinational corporation it is today (PBS:

words, use things until they break in order to save money (PBS: Frontline). Over the years, many oil

On March 23, 2005, 15 people were killed and 170 were injured in an explosion at BP s Texas City
refinery (Schorn). It was the worst workplace accident in this country since 1989 (Schorn). BP, like
Amoco, considered replacing an antiquated blowdown drum used to collect gasoline. However, BP
decided to bank a saving of $150,000 and just repair the blowdown drum, because capital expenditure
was very tight (Schorn). According to many experts, this savings was the direct cause of the 2005

The blowdown drum began to fill with gasoline, but it overflowed and sent a geyser of gasoline into

blast that followed destroyed several office trailers full of workers parked nearby (Schorn). After the

the number of sales. According to the projected number of units that are expected to be sold, the

favorable ones for the company. Direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, and variable

Cutting A Friend Loose Sucks
Cutting a friend loose sucks. It s akin to cleaning out a closet that s been jammed packed for
years...you avoid it for as long as possible but you end up sucking it up because you can t get new
clothes until you make space by getting rid of the old. You have to decide what stays or goes, then if
you decide to hang on to an article of clothing, you run the risk of it eventually turning into clutter and
making you regret keeping it around when you had to chance to free up the space, or, you worry that
six months into the future, you ll think that you shouldn t have gotten rid of that old faithful dress that
was clutch for so many years before you hastily dumped it in the frenzy of purging. You know it s
necessary but the thought alone makes your stomach hurt.
I spoke to a close friend recently and she was feeling down because she had to break up with a friend
of hers that had disappointed her one too many times. Listening to the defeat in her voice got me to
thinking about just how painful it really is to break up with a friend. We re absolutely conditioned to
navigate the ins and outs of breaking it off with a romantic partner, but not really a friend. I know that
I ve had more than one friendship that felt like a toxic marriage that, at the time, I couldn t free myself

European Integration Through The Decades Essay
In its historical context discuss why and how the EU was set up and the advantages and disadvantages
of membership.
Europe was a politically and fragile continent after the Second World War that claimed millions of
lives. It is in that background, that the first steps to European integration were taken with the
establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). The celebrated Schuman Plan, laid
the foundation for the first real supra national economy in the world, that is, the ECSC. The European
integration continued through the decades with the establishment of the European Economic
Community (ECC) and the European Union (EU). In the recent period, the EU has come under intense
questioning with the economic crisis in Europe starting 2007. The recent Brexit vote has put further
questions on the future of the EU. This essay considers the process of European integration through
the decades and also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the union.
The Second World War resulted in economic devastation; however, it is remarkable how fast Europe
recovered after the war and economists do refer to this period as the Golden Age of European
economic growth . Despite the economic recovery in Europe, there were few areas of discord, one of
these being the French favouring a Customs Union and the English wanting a Free Trade Area.
Moreover, there was distrust between France and Germany, which impacted the initial years of
integration . Nevertheless, the European

The Morality Of White Man s Burden
Just as the natives are overwhelmed by fear, the whites are also affected, but in a different manner than
the black natives. The white people fear that the Natives will take back their land and get rid of the
whites. The whites oppress the natives in order to curb that fear, controlling
Crawford 6 them and making them bend to their will. In South Africa, the imperial whites have taken
over everything in the country, in essence capturing the natives. The natives are suppressed with low
paying and hard jobs, little to no education, and essentially no social structure. Without this education,
the natives learn and obtain little to no skills. Without good paying jobs, they have no wealth or
prosperity. Arthur Jarvis says, It is not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by
nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally (Paton 179). Jarvis is
saying that because there is no tribal integrity, the natives have little to no meaning, as the tribal
system is the only way of life they know. These things cause regression into chaos and dominance of
whites over them. All things are done because the whites are afraid of the potential power of the
colloquial mass of natives. In order to persuade themselves that white oppression is moral, white
people use the logic behind White Man s Burden. Arthur Jarvis explains this in his writings that whites
justify their motives because of philosophical or religious ideals. Jarvis

Summary Of Kids React To Gay Marriage
fter watching the Kids React to Gay Marriage video, I was a little surprised that the kids reacted
positively on the subject of gay marriage. Furthermore, I did not think that kids were very educated on
gay marriage because, like the 7 year old, Sydney said, kids do not usually talk about that topic, but I
was astonished at how much was said by the children in the video. The video became interesting to me
when the speaker said there is a controversy on whether it is not right to compel a religion to listen to
the law if it conflicts against their religion, I saw the autonomy argument on this topic, which is why I
loved Addy s response, It is not your decision to make them not love each other and not marry each

African Slaves And The Slave Trade
At the beginning of the fifteenth century the Atlantic slave trade was at its peak. Many believe that
only Europeans benefited from having Africans as slaves, but they are wrong. Africans of different
tribes would destroy settlements, capture the villagers, and sell them at the market as they were a
baked good at a farmer s market in today s society. Europeans and Africans both played a major role
in the slave trade and are both to blame for the capturing and selling of African slaves. African s
played a much bigger role in the Atlantic Slave trade than the ones being enslaved. King Affonso I
was an African King who worked hand in hand with the Europeans during the slave trade. He thought
since his slaves were either criminals or Prisoners of War it was ok to have them as slaves. When
Affonso wanted to quit being part of the slave trade his reign as King began to fall, Kongo was in
disarray and the authority of its ruler greatly undermined (Stroyer, 706). Affonso started losing control
when he could no longer decide what to trade and when to trade with Portugal. Portugal took full
advantage of this fall of power and traded as they pleased. Even though King Affonso wanted to stop
the slave trade he is still at fault. Almost going forty years with capturing, buying, and selling
Africans, wanting to stop wasn t going to erase what he had done in the past. King Affonso was just
one example of an African working with Europeans to make money for his kingdom. Another example

The Boston Waltz Worksheet
Historically, the waltz began as an Austrian peasant dance around the seventeenth century. Developing
in the eighteenth century, the waltz was accepted by the upper classes in France thereby increasing its
popularity. It was in these European dance halls that the three quarter rhythm became permanent.
More modifications to the waltz came nearing the end of the nineteenth century. At this point, the
dance had started gaining the interest on a global level travelling all the way to the United States
(Waltz Dance History). Two main modifications that appeared during this period were the Boston and
the hesitation. The Boston was a slower waltz with long, gliding steps. Although this stylized version

The concept of gender is rarely discussed in class because it is just how the dance is. Maybe because
of it s historical roots in an era where there was male superiority; or maybe it is just following societal
norms, but the waltz is very tenured for the male dancer. Part of the technique is described as lead and
follow. Men are referred to as leads while women are referred to as follows. I found it interesting to
take instructions and substitute the gender in place of lead and follow. For example, the instructor
described our roles saying, Leads, you must be in charge, while followers you must be submissive to
your lead. When substituted, the teacher basically said that men must take charge while women have
to be compliant to him. I was reassured by this when it came to the point in class where we were to try
to string together sequences. The followers were told to follow what the leads communicates to you
through the dance. By a push on the shoulder, the follows were told to spin. By the rotation of the men
s arms, the women knew to change the direction of travel. I thought this concept was interesting to

The Causes And Impacts Of Vice Media
In 2013, Vice Media, a former punk magazine, had shocked the world with their HBO series showing
the basketball diplomacy between United States and North Korea. Like never before, Americans had
finally seen what inside North Korea through the eyes of this new emerging media company. By
essentially going against traditional ways of delivering the news, the company had surprised most
existed media companies. Vice Media has since then been in the public eye. Regarding how they
execute their contents, Vice media could be seen as an example of postmodernism.
Unlike many mainstream media, Vice uses gonzo journalism, in which the journalist put him/herself
as a part of the story, to deliver their contents. With that being said, Vice would send their staff
members into a real life dangerous situation where they would film every raw image like bloodshed
and slaying. They would also let the camera know what they feel or think about the situation. In one of
their HBO series filming in Afghanistan, the journalist had given an emotional speech after his
interview with the child suicide bombers without any filter. With this journaling method, not only does
Vice provide the audience with the facts of the story without any filter, but it also allows them to
reflect on all the emotion received by the narrator. Vice has also loosened the format of the traditional
television reporting. They began to use the twist of combining news with entertainment to make news
stories more relatable and

Music in Greek Theatre and Religion
Music was a large part of everyday life in Ancient Greece. The people thought of music as a gift from
their gods, associating different instruments with specific gods. Their term for music was not limited
strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry reading. Music
was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and funerals, to
banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient Greek life to which
music was integral.
Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods. The
lyre by Hermes, the aulos by Athena, and the panpipes by Pan. The nine muses personified the various
aspects of music in the broader sense of the term. Calliope represented epic poetry and rhetoric, Cleo s
domain was history, Erato signified singing, Euterpe represented lyric poetry, Melpomene s
significance was in singing tragedy, Polymnia s domain was hymns to the pantheon and to Greek
heroes, Terpsichore delighted in dancing, Thalia signified comedy, and lastly Urania represented
astronomy. The nine muses were born daughters of Zeus and the titan Mnemosyne after the two
copulated for nine consecutive nights. Apollo led a chorus comprised of the nine muses, and they are
often associated with him.
The auloi were primarily used in worship of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine,

interesting topic is because each society around the world has different groups of people who have

Deciding to breastfeed is one of the best choices you can make for you and your baby. Breast milk has
all the nutrients that your baby needs, when your baby needs them. That is why many women who can
choose to breastfeed exclusively.
A change in hormones during pregnancy causes your breast tissue to grow and increases the number
and size of your milk ducts. These hormones also allow proteins, sugars, and fats from your blood
supply to make breast milk in your milk producing glands. Hormones prevent breast milk from being
released before your baby is born as well as prompt milk flow after birth. Once breastfeeding has

Breastfeeding helps to burn calories and helps you lose the weight gained during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding makes your uterus contract to its prepregnancy size faster and slows bleeding (lochia)
after you give birth.
Breastfeeding helps to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and breast
or ovarian cancer later in life.
BENEFITS OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
The more often your baby breastfeeds, the more milk you will produce. By exclusively breastfeeding,
you help to ensure that your baby has an ample supply of milk. Supplementing with water or infant
formula when your baby would otherwise be breastfeeding may send a message to your body that less
milk is needed. Your baby may become full from the supplements and breastfeed less. This can
interfere with the establishment of your milk supply.
Exclusive breastfeeding helps to develop your baby s immune system in a healthy way. Your breast
milk contains antibodies your baby needs to to fight off germs that cause infections. Breastfed babies
are also less likely to develop food allergies. When your baby is introduced to foods other than breast
milk too soon, his or her body is more likely to interpret that food as an allergen, making antibodies
against it. This is what causes food allergies. If your baby breastfeeds less because he or she is also
receiving supplements, he or she may have a harder time fighting infections or be more likely

militarizing to face modern day threats. Law enforcement agencies around the world have been forced

SWAT teams were created in the late 1960s as quasi militaristic squads capable of addressing serious

were created to handle are not due to theoretical situations, they were created because these situations

Persuasive Essay Boxing
Humans have always found one on one fighting to be an intriguing activity to watch. Whether it is an
unregulated street fight, or a regulated sport like boxing. There is nothing like watching boxers fight
and sweat until one of them gives up and falls. The rules of boxing are straight forward. However, it is
a very complex sport that requires intense training and conditioning. There are no time outs and there
are no teammates who can help the boxers in the ring. It is the ultimate sport that requires strength,
discipline and skills. although, there are many controversies surrounding the sport, professional
boxing should not be banned because it is a safe and technical sport that boxers choose to do by their

One of the most controversial topics surrounding boxing is safety. Boxers step in to the ring to throw
punches at each other s faces and test their limits. However, over the years, safety precautions have
improved significantly. Every professional match is chosen very carefully. The boxing commission
makes sure that boxers don t over fight themselves. The weight classes are much more detailed now.
Besides, weight and height of the boxers are not the only criteria for a proper match up. Experience of

The first documented references to gumbo, according to Dr. Carl A. Brasseaux of the University of

is just what I did many years ago. I was living in a tent in New Iberia Louisiana while refurbishing

and now want to share with you my gumbo recipe made with squirrel meat. My first bowl of gumbo
was in a restaurant in Louisiana and when the lady set it down in front of me I remember wondering if
something was wrong. I actually called her back and asked her why there were bones sticking out of
my soup. She told me that was the way they made gumbo and walked away. OK the taste was great so
I began eating and when I wanted some chicken I just grabbed a bone out of the gumbo. Then I got a
shrimp in my mouth and crunched into the tail which had been left on as well. I enjoyed that bowl of
gumbo, sort of, but vowed to make it myself without the bones and this is just one example of
changing a recipe to suit your taste.

of Sandusky s behavior appears to be just as shocking. Through independent and Grand Jury
investigations, a small circle of the most powerful people at PSU knew, for almost a decade, of
Sandusky s behavior and chose not to take appropriate actions to protect children from a sexual
predator and concealed Sandusky s behavior from the University s Board of Trustees, the community

Augustus Statue Analysis
The piece of art that I chose was the statue of Augustus from the Department of Greek, Etruscan, and
Roman Antiquities. The statue itself is made of marble and shows the emperor Augustus in a flowing
toga holding a collection of scrolls. The body and the head appear to be from different time periods
with the head being typical of other depictions of Augustus contemporary to the time of his reign. The
body however appears to be more similar to work found during the hadrianic period making it several
centuries than the head. The common theory is that head and body were joined together sometime in
the eighteenth century when both pieces were stored in Venice. Overall, the statue despite being a
conglomerate work from different periods is a good

Carbon Monoxide Research Paper
In Superior Wisconsin, the CO alarm of a neighbor could have saved two people over the holiday
season. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and they had to
be taken to the Superior hospital, where they had been listed as stable. When firefighters responded to
the call about carbon monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels inside the
apartment building located on the 1500 block of Broadway.
During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Around five parts per
million within the hallway of the apartment, but one apartment on the first floor had excess levels that
reached above 70 ppm. During further investigation, firefighters discovered that a malfunctioning
furnace was the culprit for the higher levels of CO. To make matters worse, the carbon monoxide
detector had the battery removed, which could have proven a fatal mistake if the neighboring
apartment had not had a detector that triggered the alarm. It alerted everyone within that building that

In addition, you should have a CO alarm, and you should pay attention to it. Also, test the batteries
regularly to guarantee that it continues to operate. Always pay attention to the CO alarm. If it starts to
sound off, leave your residence and call 911 immediately. Mike Tomczak noticed that around 2 am,
his dog started to act funny, and he knew that something was not right. When he walked out, he saw
that his dog had his nose by the door, and he thought it meant that his dog needed some fresh air. It
was not long after this that Tomczak and two other tenant began to feel nauseous. The result? The
furnace in their apartment facility had started to leak 70 parts per million, which is not a huge leak, but
it can still prove deadly when you are exposed to it over the long

Local-Color Regionalism in Tennessees Partner Essay
The literary movement of local color regionalism in American literature is a very distinctive and
interesting form of fiction writing that effectively combines regional characteristics, dialect, customs
and humor. In Bret Harte s Tennessee s Partner, these characteristics helped the story jump off the
page, allowing the reader to understand the times rather than just the characters. And, for that reason, I
feel that this is an outstanding piece of work.
One of the most distinguishable characteristics of local color regionalism writing is the usage of
authentic dialect based on the story s setting. In Tennessee s Partner, Harte uses this tactic best when
quoting the title character. For example, when Tennessee s Partner suddenly appears ... Show more

I call.
LYNCH: Two bowers and an ace.
TENNESSEE: That takes me.
Another local color characteristic that Harte used in Tennessee s Partner was the development of
characters based on their setting. The reader never feels like he knows much at all about any of the
characters even Tennessee and his partner at all. In fact, neither does the narrator. But through the use
of description, the two main characters become more stereotypes of miners in the Gold Rush era; they
were typical rugged, gambling, scorched skinned, strong, simple womanizing men.
This much is true with no one more than the title character, as his actions reveal more about the time s
concept of death during his friend s execution and burial rather than going too deep into his own
personal feelings about this particular death. Tennessee s Partner quickly compares his friend s burial
to all the other drunken trips his shouldered with Tennessee in the past and seemingly moves on from
the finality of the situation with ease.
Lastly, Harte uses the setting as a major element of the story, almost turning the vast land of Tennessee
s Partner into a character itself. The settings in most local color stories usually have an emphasis on
nature and the land is usually remote and out of the way, and the setting of this story is no different.
When reading the section of the story regarding

Opera Buffa Social Structure
Mozart composed three Italian opera buffa Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Cosi fan tutte with
Lorenzo Da Ponte s libretto. In the eighteenth century, the advent of Enlightenment in Europe changed
the hierarchical social structure in European society. It brought great change to the women s lifestyle
by allowing noblewomen to have equal power to men and to voice themselves. Also, peasant women
changed their lifestyle by being treated more equally as men who were at the same social level.
Mozart brought this social phenomenon to the opera since opera buffa reflected how common people
interacted with nobles and how men have started to respect women s opinions. Mozart demonstrated
gendered social structure by using soubrette characters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The maid views love as a power dynamic that requires women to offset their socially established
disadvantage with cleverness. Despina believes that women learn to be unfaithful because men are
that way .
Despina, a lower class woman, believes women and men should be equally treated. It shows that in
the era, women have an awareness of being equal to men. Also, I found that a maid s subordinate
position was raised in the eighteenth century. When the Revolution occurred, the mainstream social
class was lower class. If Despina was not just a character but an actual woman, she definitely would
have participated in the revolution.
Mozart s Opera buffa reflects the cultural and historical materials in the eighteenth century and shows
the life of common people. In the eighteenth century, the Enlightenment aroused throughout Europe
and this idea aimed for the general progress of humanity. The world was broken from the aristocratic
society to the lower class. Public opinion promoted equality over hierarchy. Women took part in the
revolution, and they improved their status in their family and society. They demanded a proper
education thus literacy highly increased. With these influences, Soubrette characters in Mozart s opera
buffa: Susanna, Zerlina and Despina have a mysterious power from the Enlightenment. He maintains
the characters in the same class and he did not break the social structure. However, he presents
equality between women and men. Women

Down Syndrome And The Human Body
We all love amazing smiles and infectious eyes and hugs. Down syndrome occurs in people of all
races and economic levels. Who are we to judge when we all bleed the same blood. Down syndrome is
only a part of them and not how they are defined. No one is greater than another no matter what the
situation. In every cell in the human body there is a nucleus, where genetic material is stored in genes.
Genes carry the codes responsible for all of our inherited traits and are grouped along rod like
structures called chromosomes. Typically, the nucleus of each cell contains 23 pairs of chromosomes,
half of which are inherited from each parent. Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or
partial extra copy of chromosome 21.
This additional genetic material alters the course of development and causes the characteristics
associated with Down syndrome. A few of the common physical traits of Down syndrome are low
muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the center of
the palm although each person with Down syndrome is a unique individual and may possess these
characteristics to different degrees, or not at all.
One in every 691 babies in the the United States is born with Down syndrome, making Down
syndrome the most common genetic condition. Approximately 400,000 Americans have Down
syndrome and about 6,000 babies with Down syndrome are born in the United States each year.
For centuries, people with Down syndrome have been

Parenting As A Blended Family
Parenting in A Blended Family The family dynamics in Max Apple s Stepdaughters and Amy Tan s A
Pair of Tickets displays some of the issues that parents, stepparents and teenagers may or may not
experience. A mother s relationship with her children has a very unique connection, especially when it
comes our daughters. Being a mother or stepmother is a problematical and rewarding experience:
nevertheless, a mother s love is unconditional. How do you except someone for his or her choices on
being different? Is it easier for a step parent to see things more clearly that the biological parent?
Every family has its issues. When it s a blended family with mothers, fathers, stepchildren and other
family member, those issues can become more complex to understand. There are so many aspects that
make the core of a family. For example, from different lifestyles, religion, to positive and negative
reinforcement from our parents to raising respectable teenagers. There are differences in attitudes from
teenagers with biological parents and stepparents. With biological parents the relationship may have
some problems, but nothing can compare to what a stepparent has to endure and try to overcome these
obstacles if it possible. In Amy Tan s A Joy Luck Club, Jing mei feels the pressure of having to fill her
mother s shoes from other family members when her mother dies. Jing mei is forced into old customs
and close minded habits which causes her to lose interest and break away from her

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant Fantabulous Restaurants, It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food. ... • 4. Construction Projects For The Construction Industry Introduction Construction projects contain a high level of complicated procurement processes. Not only the revenue or profit is critical in the construction industry, but market intelligence and construction procurement knowledge are also important. The bidding process in the construction industry is illustrated by many different involved parties including the architectural and engineering firms, client, general contractors, material suppliers, specialized contractors, manufacturers, etc. (Halaris, 2001). Preparing proposed documents, appraising bids, and awarding the contract to the winner of the bid are among the major duties of the client (Gokhan et al, 2006). (Gokhan et al, 2006) Fig. 1. Bid proposal preparation process Sub contracting has comprehensively been used in the construction industry. It allows general contractors to employ the lowest workforce in construction projects and promotes specialization (Maturana, 2005). Many general contractors only play a role as construction management agents in construction projects, for example, they sub contract a large volume of their work to sub contractors (Shash, 1998). The characteristic bidding process is showed in Fig. 1. Bidding requirements and procedures vary and have disparate requirements that are created by the owners. • 6. Compare The Poem I Wandered As Lonely As A Cloud By... The inspiration for both William Wordsworth s poem I wandered as lonely as a cloud and Dorothy s journal entry comes from a walk they took in the Lake District along the Gowbarrow park. The daffodils alongside the riverbank struck both enough to write about them. Though daffodils serve as the focal point for both writings, Dorothy records the sight in front of her whereas William offers a more mystical and spiritual perception of the experience. The first hint that William s poem is more mystical than Dorothy s journal is in the number of daffodils and the perfection within them. Dorothy writes only a few flowers were seen close to the water before walking along the lake to see more of them. This naturalistic observation of how daffodils are dispersed in the wild. This hyperbole and the difference in the imagery suggests that the daffodils are mystical and unearthly in the poem and a natural experience in the journal. Medical marijuana is not all of the plant itself. The main beneficial part of the plant is all the doctors need for the treatment, which is CBD. The CBD is extracted from the plant and is used. • 9. Describe How Several Ways Mineral Crystals Can Form 1. What is a mineral, as geologists understand the term? How is this definition different from the everyday usage of the word? To a geologist, a mineral is naturally occurring solid, formed by geologic processes that have a crystalline structure and a definable chemical composition. Its internal structure characterized by an orderly arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules in a crystalline lattice. Almost all minerals are inorganic, for instance, sugar is an organic chemical in which is made by carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen that it is not a mineral. 2. Why is glass not a mineral? A glass isn t a mineral because crystalline structure in which the atoms make up a mineral aren t distributed randomly and cannot move around easily, and the atoms in a glass aren t arranged in an orderly pattern. Moreover, both minerals and glasses are solids, and they can retain their shape, but a mineral is crystalline ,and glass is not because the atoms, ions, or molecules are the elements in a mineral are ordered into a crystal lattice, and glass doesn t has those elements and disorderly arrange. 3. Since experimenting with every available method is impossible, some of the methods are selected that are proven to increase decision tree performances. Selected improvement methods and their experimental setups are presented in this chapter. 4.1 Correlation Based Feature Selection Feature selection is a method used for reducing number of dimensions of a dataset by removing irrelevant and redundant attributes. Previous studies show that CFS method increases accuracy for CART algorithm although not as much as the C4.5 algorithm does (Doraisamy et al., 2008). CFS uses a search algorithm and feature evaluation algorithm which uses a heuristic that measures goodness of attributes subsets. Hall and Smith (1998) define this goodness heuristic as Good feature subsets contain features highly correlated with the class, yet uncorrelated with each other. Equation 1 below shows heuristic formula. G_x=(k¯(r_ci ))/√(k+k(k 1)¯(r_ii )) Where G_x is the heuristic of goodness of an attribute subset x that contains k features, ¯(r_ci ) is average attribute class correlation which points predictive power of the attribute subset to a class, and ¯(r_ii ) is average attribute inter correlation that indicates the redundancy among attributes. A version of correlation based attribute selection to be included in experiment setup is called Fast Correlation Based Feature Selection (FCBF) that initially developed by Yu and Liu (2004). This algorithm is preferred over other available correlation based attribute selection algorithms since while other implementations of CFS using forward sequential or greedy search methods (e.g. MRMR/CFS developed by Schoewe, ... With many challenges, the Emergency Department must operate efficiently in an effort to deliver quality care in a timely manner while meeting the patient demand based on volume size (Richard Jarvis, 2016). If there is an unbalanced match with the patient demand with the Emergency Department capacity and staffing to deliver care within a timely manner, it can reflect on the patient flow and can create crowding and long throughput times (Richard Jarvis, 2016). As a result, it can lead to poor quality of care and patient outcomes (Richard Jarvis, 2016). Global Marketing Campaigns For Multi National Brands The key issue discussed within the article was about whether companies with brands that run across countries should go global or localize their advertising campaigns for multi national brands. Global marketing campaigns allow for brands to run the same marketing campaigns across many different countries, utilizing the same creative with few changes across multiple regions of the world. Global marketing campaigns are very efficient because they allow for a single creative message to be utilized which is cheaper and faster to produce, allows for easy media purchases, and is simpler to traffic creative to different locations. In the case, the marketing team for Johnny Walker wanted to utilize this global marketing method, by creating one commercial that could be run across multiple countries with little to no variations to the creative in each market (only small changes would be made, e.g. translating languages). The problem with global marketing campaigns is different countries often have different interpretations of the creative, due to the unique cultural, demographic, and economic situations they are surrounded by. This can lead audiences within one country to be highly receptive to a message, and an audiences in another country to interpret it in a different way. In the Johnny Walker example, they created one commercial that featured young men doing different extreme and exciting adventures, showing that Johnny Walker empowered them to do what they wanted in their lives. ... The white people fear that the Natives will take back their land and get rid of the whites. In South Africa, the imperial whites have taken over everything in the country, in essence capturing the natives. The natives are suppressed with low paying and hard jobs, little to no education, and essentially no social structure. Without this education, the natives learn and obtain little to no skills. Without good paying jobs, they have no wealth or prosperity. Arthur Jarvis says, It is not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally (Paton 179). Jarvis is saying that because there is no tribal integrity, the natives have little to no meaning, as the tribal system is the only way of life they know. These things cause regression into chaos and dominance of whites over them. All things are done because the whites are afraid of the potential power of the colloquial mass of natives. Part of the technique is described as lead and follow. Men are referred to as leads while women are referred to as follows. I found it interesting to take instructions and substitute the gender in place of lead and follow. For example, the instructor described our roles saying, Leads, you must be in charge, while followers you must be submissive to your lead. When substituted, the teacher basically said that men must take charge while women have to be compliant to him. • 27. The Causes And Impacts Of Vice Media In 2013, Vice Media, a former punk magazine, had shocked the world with their HBO series showing the basketball diplomacy between United States and North Korea. Like never before, Americans had finally seen what inside North Korea through the eyes of this new emerging media company. By essentially going against traditional ways of delivering the news, the company had surprised most existed media companies. Vice Media has since then been in the public eye. Regarding how they execute their contents, Vice media could be seen as an example of postmodernism. Unlike many mainstream media, Vice uses gonzo journalism, in which the journalist put him/herself as a part of the story, to deliver their contents. With that being said, Vice would send their staff members into a real life dangerous situation where they would film every raw image like bloodshed and slaying. They would also let the camera know what they feel or think about the situation. In one of their HBO series filming in Afghanistan, the journalist had given an emotional speech after his interview with the child suicide bombers without any filter. With this journaling method, not only does Vice provide the audience with the facts of the story without any filter, but it also allows them to reflect on all the emotion received by the narrator. Vice has also loosened the format of the traditional television reporting. They began to use the twist of combining news with entertainment to make news stories more relatable and ... • 28. Music On Greek Theatre And Religion Heather Day Dr. Proksch MULT 2340 November 28, 2016 Music in Greek Theatre and Religion Music was a large part of everyday life in Ancient Greece. The people thought of music as a gift from their gods, associating different instruments with specific gods. Their term for music was not limited strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry reading. Music was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and funerals, to banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient Greek life to which music was integral. Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods. The lyre by Hermes, the aulos by Athena, and the panpipes by Pan. The nine muses personified the various aspects of music in the broader sense of the term. Calliope represented epic poetry and rhetoric, Cleo s domain was history, Erato signified singing, Euterpe represented lyric poetry, Melpomene s significance was in singing tragedy, Polymnia s domain was hymns to the pantheon and to Greek heroes, Terpsichore delighted in dancing, Thalia signified comedy, and lastly Urania represented astronomy. The nine muses were born daughters of Zeus and the titan Mnemosyne after the two copulated for nine consecutive nights. Apollo led a chorus comprised of the nine muses, and they are often associated with him. The auloi were primarily used in worship of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine, ... In Bret Harte s Tennessee s Partner, these characteristics helped the story jump off the page, allowing the reader to understand the times rather than just the characters. And, for that reason, I feel that this is an outstanding piece of work. The reader never feels like he knows much at all about any of the characters even Tennessee and his partner at all. In fact, neither does the narrator. But through the use of description, the two main characters become more stereotypes of miners in the Gold Rush era; they were typical rugged, gambling, scorched skinned, strong, simple womanizing men. This much is true with no one more than the title character, as his actions reveal more about the time s concept of death during his friend s execution and burial rather than going too deep into his own personal feelings about this particular death. Tennessee s Partner quickly compares his friend s burial to all the other drunken trips his shouldered with Tennessee in the past and seemingly moves on from the finality of the situation with ease. Lastly, Harte uses the setting as a major element of the story, almost turning the vast land of Tennessee s Partner into a character itself. The settings in most local color stories usually have an emphasis on nature and the land is usually remote and out of the way, and the setting of this story is no different.
