Working safely is important because someone is waiting for you at home, and you have a choice whether to return home injured or uninjured. Every 15 seconds a worker is injured or killed on the job, resulting in over 2 million deaths per year globally. Safety starts from the individual - it is a matter of choice, not chance. The majority of workplace accidents are caused by unsafe acts rather than unsafe conditions or natural causes. Developing good safety habits can help keep you and your family safe.
PREVENT WORK-RELATED INJURIES
Behavior-based safety is based on the theory that most accidents at workplaces can be prevented with the right behavioral analysis and training. Minor errors and oversights are often left unreported and thus can lead to major accidents if the causes for the incidents are not addressed.

Everyone is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment. It is important to know your rights and responsibilities as an employee (or employer)!
It is a common perception that accidents are unexpected or unplanned events, but in many instances, that’s not necessarily so. Some accidents result from unsafe conditions and work practices that have been ignored or tolerated for weeks, months, or even years.
Please join our webinar presentation to discover and review the truth about “Accidents”. Learn about the “Accident Pyramid” and most importantly, the “Preventive Measures” to avoid workplace injuries that we often refer to as “Accidents”.
Topics include:
Slips, Trips & Falls

Industrial safety refers to the management of all operations and events within an industry in order to protect its employees and assets by minimizing hazards, risks, accidents, and near misses.
The importance of industrial safety was realized because of the fact that every year millions occupational/ industrial accidents occur which result in loss of production time equivalent to millions of man hours, machine hours etc

The NJ section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association is attempting to find legislators to support a bill to require all school districts to support a 45-minute stand down each year for students who will be entering the workforce for the first time. The program is designed to enlighten students about workplace health and safety hazards and responsibility and rights under OSHA. Currently OSHA has information and eTool for young workers and Rutgers School of Public Health has a program to protect students from harm while in school. This NIOSH initiative complies with all NJ child labor laws and can be delivered at the end of each school year similar to drunk driving training provided to students before prom season. Many young people are injured or become sick while at work. Much could be prevented by beginning the conversation about the hazards and controls of these low level and high risk tasks. For more info about the NJ program, visit: www.njaiha.org.
Personal Injury is an umbrella term for many types of cases handled by an injury attorney. For the most part, all of these cases share the common denominator of negligence, meaning someone else's carelessness is the ultimate cause of the injury.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
