Women During Ancient Roman Society
One of the oldest beverages known to man is wine, an alcoholic drink made from fermented grapes. Wine has been enjoyed all around the world and
Ancient Rome is no exception. Ancient Rome played an important role in its history. Wine carried religious, philosophical, and social implications for
the Romans as it was a part of their daily life. The popularity of wine and drunkenness in Ancient Rome is clearly portrayed throughout poetry, art,
literature and even laws. Although wine was eventually available to all, it's implications for women were severe. An important connection between
Ancient Rome and wine that is rarely discussed is the idea of denying women a right to drink. Today, it is not uncommon or distasteful for women to
have a glass of wine but in Roman society, women's overindulgence of wine was frowned upon. This paper will discuss women in Ancient Roman
society and analyze sources from Valerius Maximus and Propertius to focus on how the role of wine reinforced the patriarchal system and oppression
of women.
To understand Roman views for women drinking we must understand women's role in Roman society, better yet, their position in society. Women were
dominated by the males in their life; their fathers, their relatives, and their husbands. Women had no identity of their own besides being a daughter, and
a wife. Their fathers had absolute control over their lives and women were completely dominated that the Fathers could sell them into slavery or force
them into

Informative Speech About Wine
Benefits of Wine Aeration
Hello everyone! I'm excited to be speaking to you today about my absolute favorite alcoholic beverage... red wine! I'm here to share information about
some of the unknown benefits of wine aeration. Aerating certain varietals of red wine reduces ethanol and sulfite content, helps to remove sediment,
and enhances flavor profile, texture, and aromas (Smith, 2015). I have drink many, many bottles of red wine, and there are significant differences to
aerated wine. Aerated wine has a softer mouthfeel, as well as an overall better taste. So, today I will be explaining the process of aeration, the varietals
of wine that should or should not be aerated, and the assortment of wine aerators available on the market. Now, some ... Show more content on

First, there is the decanter, a vase–shaped glass container. This is the most common type of aerator and requires minimal effort, simply pour the wine
into the decanter and wait about 30 minutes for the wine to reach full potential. Decanters also inhibit sediment from being poured into the glass. Next,
there are aerating wine glasses, which have a rib–like protrusion that creates friction when swirling, causing air bubbles to form. Finally, there are a
variety of electric and manual aerators, that can be handheld or attached to the wine glass or bottle for instant

Red Wine Thesis
Red Wine
Wine corporations have made numerous claims that red wine has multiple health benefits, including heart health, longer life span, and even fights
against some cancers. According to studies, a glass of red wine a day is beneficial to your heart health. Regarding whether or not this claim is true,
goes beyond the myths and assumptions made by skeptics. To prove that this claim is, in fact valid, a chemical found in redwine, resveratrol is a
chemical that is found within all plants (grapes in this case) that is used as a protection mechanism. But how does that affect a human consumer?
According to scientific studies, the antioxidants found in this chemical compound has been found, in some cases, to be an asset in protecting one's heart

FROM FRANCE TO OKLAHOMA: THE SUMMINATION IF CHARDONAY
One might think of the Chardonnay grape as a traveler, comparative to a nomadic race, roaming from place to place. From France to California,
stopping along the way to leave its imprint on the locals – surviving in some areas to become a dominant part of history and commerce, as some
members of a tribe might, and some continue on to search out the omnipresent dream of a promised land. For the Chardonnay grape, this Promised
Land was California and its journey was fruitful. The Chardonnay grape of the species Vitis vinifera ssp. vinifera has long had a mysterious origin
while expanding its future from the Old World to the New, enjoying cool temperatures and surviving thanks to its winter hardiness. Along the way,
Chardonnay was planted in Oklahoma, and even though the land and climates are much different from those of its native France, Chardonnay
continued to surprise. Steadfast and as stubborn as its growers, the vine production in Oklahoma continues to grow. These small, light green fruits can
produce one of the most well–known and highly produced white wines in the world were inevitable. The origin Vitis vinifera ssp. vinifera has long
been a mystery. With the discovery of DNA came the ability to research the grape's genetic origin.

How Many Antioxidants Are On Your Beer And Wine?
How many antioxidants are in your beer and wine?
There are those that love to drink.
Red wine, white wine, beer, cocktails. You have your preferences, but you're happy as long as there's a drink in your hand and a Miley Cyrus song
playing in the background.
But let's be real: your health matters. Sure, drinking isn't the epitome of healthy. But drink now or drink never. Drinking alone while all your friends
play scrabble with their kids at home doesn't sound like fun.
If you're going to get wasted (or even just a little tipsy), you can make the best choices. How? By maximizing the amount of antioxidants your drink
with your alcohol.
Sure, a better option would be to skip the alcohol. But that's just no fun. Instead, minimize the damage and maximize your fun by drinking the world's
alcohols that top the list for antioxidant content.
How to maximize your health benefits of wine
You probably know in terms of healthy alcohol, wine tops the list. So that's where I'll start, too.

Mr. Gould 's The Glass Of Wine
"If we only knew what they were waiting for," Mr. Gould said, sounding more like a petulant child than a diplomat. Monsieur Ochs set his glass
down on the table. "If I knew that, Mr. Gould..." "I would be more than happy to go if I had any confidence that it would make a difference," Mr.
Alderbeek offered. "As would I," Mr. Gould said. "I suppose any or all of us would, but will it make a difference?" Robert said, becoming as
frustrated as Monsieur Ochs seemed to be. "As I said, I do not believe that it will," Monsieur Ochs said, beginning to pour out another glass of
wine, much to Robert's confusion, since he already had a glass. "And round and round and round we go," Robert said with a sigh. A smile played
on Monsieur Ochs's face. "Then what do we do?" Mr. Gould asked. "We wait." Monsieur Ochs shrugged. "Tomorrow is another social event," Mr.
Alderbeek said with some hope coloring his statement. "Yes, yes, it is!" Robert leaped on his idea. "At the Marquis de BarthГ©lemy's home, isn't
it?" "Yes," Mr. Alderbeek said. "We could perhaps corner the French delegation?" Mr. Gould suggested. Monsieur Ochs shook his head. "Too strong.
Too direct." He took yet a third glass and began to pour. "But we should speak with them," Robert argued, still watching Monsieur Ochs pouring wine.
"Yes. But one at a time and with great diplomacy," Monsieur Ochs suggested, beginning to hand glasses to each of them. Once they all stood with a

What Is Wine Etiquette Essay
Wine is not just a celebrated drink but it holds a seasoned place in the history of liquor. Like everything in a human life has certain code of rules or
etiquettes, wine also has one. I think one should really know about wine etiquettes before feeling its flawless experience. Precisely, there are wine
fanatics, those principal aficionados of superior wine, and there are wine lovers, or those who just value wine. The previous have a propensity to be
sterner in their conduct and in how they serve and taste.
The essential canon of wine etiquette and using up are for those of us who like a glass or two, must say a goblet every so often, perhaps even gather

If the server is offering you then this is what is going to happen with you. You must have a visual inspection of the bottle and look at the label to
ensure it is the wine and vintage you ordered. If it is not, feel free to tell the server. The server will then remove the cork and put it on the table in
front of you. Pick it up, examine it and squeeze it to determine if it is dry and crumbly or completely wet – both of these clues say that air may have
reached and spoiled the wine. Thereafter, the server will pour a small amount of wine into your glass. Look at it against a white background. Swirl it,
put your nose in the glass, and take a deep breath. Take a sip and roll it around in your mouth before you swallow. If you don't detect any flaws, nod to
the server. That's what it takes to have an enormously delighting adventure.
What is important to the beginners is to detect that if the wine smells like wet cardboard, tastes like vinegar, or is otherwise flawed, you should give
it back by simply saying that the you are afraid of the bottle is bad and pathetic, so would like to return it. Even if you are the only one that notices a
flaw, the server should replace the bottle. The restaurant will send the bottle back to the distributor for free a

Fortunato's Arrogance Of Montresor
Webster's New World Dictionary defines connoisseur as "one who has expert knowledge and keen discrimination". Edgar Allen Poe put a great deal of
emphasis on Fortunato's connoisseur–ship being in wine and Montresor's in planning. In "The Cask of Amontillado", Edgar Allen Poe shows both
their expertises. Montresor uses Fortunato's arrogance to use his expertise in order to get his revenge on him. Montresor tricks Fortunato into coming
to his house by telling him that bought a pipe of Amontillado. He wanted to get Fortunato in his house therefore he could get his revenge and get away

Mr. Spatz made a deliberate show of looking at his watch while shaking his head. He removed a pen from his shirt pocket and began tapping it on the

Antinori Family Research Paper
The Antinori family has a rich history in Tuscany and in the winemaking community. Over the course of twenty–six generations and six centuries, the
family has become one of the most prominent wine producers in the Tuscan viticulture. The first documented account of the family making a wine
dates back to 1184 and Rinuccio di Antinoro, the originator of the Antinori line. The Antinori family did not start off in the winemaking business
however, they started off as silk producers who made wine as a hobby. On May, 19th, 1395, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the "Arte
Fiorentina", or the Winemakers' Guild of the city of Florence. In 1491, On the Le Rose Estate, the Antinori family's country estate, the family began to

In 1940 the Antinori family acquired the Castello della Sala estate that was originally owned by Giovanna Monaldeschi della Cervara. The acquisition
of this estate in Umbria began the production of the Antinori family's white wines. Today, the Antinori family's wine company is operated by Marquis
Piero Antinori with the help of his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia. The family owns seven estates and names seven hundred and three
wines on their website. The Antinori family believes in tradition, passion and intuition. "The Marchesi Antinori firm expresses its passion for
viticulture by a constant search for even the smallest areas for quality improvement (Antinori)." It is clear that the Marchesi Antinori wine firm is a
family business and has been for the last six centuries. Tradition and family are important to the company. The Antinori family has been a member of
the PFV, the "Premium Familiae Vini" since the association was founded. The PFV is an association of vineyards and cellars, which belong to
families. "PFV goes beyond geographical boundaries and sustains a common unifying principle: that of the ownership of vineyards and the production
of wines as a family activity to maintain and refine – just like a great wine – over

The French Paradox Of Cholesterol And Saturated Fat Diet
The French paradox is a slogan which was first used in the 1980's to summarize the observation of low Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) rates, as
shown in figure 1, of the French despite their dangerously high intake of dietary cholesterol and saturated fat (FerriГЁres, 2004). The French acquire
approximately 38% of their energy from fat with 16% of that being saturated fat. This is in contradiction to the widely known and proved hypothesis
that a high consumption of fat is a major factor in CHD. This paradox implies a significant possibility: There is an additional factor in the French diet
that alleviates the risks associated with a high fat diet. Ryan Fujiu believes that it is the regular consumption of red wine that diminishes the dangers of
a high fat diet. He states that: "The health benefits of red wine have come to light in recent years. Hope is on the horizon, and it may be in your
glass" ref. This topic is highly controversial as there are also detriments to the consumption of alcohol. There has been much debate about this issue
for the last two decades. In order to make a plausible decision on Ryan's statement, this report will look at the advantages and disadvantages of red
wine by analysing chemicals present in wine and their effects on the human body. During the wine making process various chemicals are added, so it
is necessary to look at the wine making process first to come up with a plausible decision for Ryan's statement.

Cups Without Wine
I found the poem, Cups Without Wine are Lowly, intriguing and fun. The author pulled me in with the tittle and kept my interest being short and sweet.
An explanation how I would describe how this poem was written. What the author is trying to explain is how much they love wine and possible, if this
was to an individual, how much they want that individual to get them wine. Maybe the author had an empty glass, or even a figurative glass. For me,
wine has never cot my fancy. Yes, red wine in a glass is an elegant seen to behold, especially with fine cheeses and fancy attire. But every wine I have
tastes has that fermented burning aftertaste as is runs down my throat. It is hard for me to imagine wine being so loved by so many. I understand wine ...

Full is referring to a full cup of wine, another aspect that is intriguing is how the author describes wine as juice, downgrading the alcoholic beverage
possibly to explain that wine is not that bad. Juice is made of fruits and berries making it a sugary healthy option. After degrading wine to the authors
audience, they then share how the cup shines when it is full of wine. To our brain, things that shine tend to have higher value then things that absorb
the light. This creates a visualization of beauty and wealth reflecting on how the author sees a cup of wine. The last word in this poem is soul.
Showing how a cup of wine, not only show power, wealth and beauty, but also gives the cup life. What more do humans treasure then life itself.
Countless books and movies have been written about immortality, youthfully appearance, and the struggle in looking young again. Looking back, this
poem was all around fun to read and showed emotion in such a simple but complex way. I have found I enjoy poems that show emotion and induce
thought. I am unsure of I could have written out frustration in such an elegant way, visualizing instead of just saying how it is. All together this poem
was funny, short, and sweet, and I would love to read more works such as this

I Am A Man On Social Media
There was a soft wind blowing that morning. The birds were chirping in the trees and the glow of the rising sun tinted the sky with shades of yellow
and orange. As I walked to the car, I could feel the soft breeze pass through my hair so gently as if an angel ran its fingers through each strand. I
paused for a moment to enjoy that delightful feeling before I began my journey to work.
On the way to work, began to think of the guy that has stolen my heart. Every song that played reminded me of him. As I listened to "Baby, Hold
on to me" by Gerald Levert, I began to envision us looking into each other's eyes and slowly dancing the night away. I met this wonderful man on

intelligent, loving, and an all–around good guy. No one is perfect but he makes me feel as if I am in a fairytale; I am Cinderella and he is Prince

Wine Culture Means A Lot
Wine culture means a lot to people. People can suspend their 'secular identities' throughout the bottle opening, rituals, wine festivals, wine tastings
(Fuller, R. 1996). Wine has been called a 'chemical symphony', 'bottled poetry' and a 'capture sunshine' (Becker 1979)
To start with, wine is produced only once a year, in the fall, when the grapes are ripen. Grapes contain yeast and when these are compressed into a
pot for a period of time, then yeast ferments sugar in the juice into alcohol and Carbon Dioxide. A few days later, wine is produced (Stefan, K. 2002)

Wine Glass Limitations
The following essay will explore topics related sound frequency, glass, wavelengths, and the properties of sound allowing I am able to grasp a better
understanding of sound and its effects on glass. Sound is much powerful than most expect. I do believe that sound has the potential to break wine
glasses when a certain frequency is applied. The science fair project I will be conducting is based upon if sound can break glass, more specifically a
wine glass. I will be using speakers to play different frequencies and all of the same kind of wine glass to conduct my experiment. My
hypothesis–stated before any research was done–was: a wineglass will break if a frequency higher than –––– is applied to the glass. Since my project
will be experimenting with sound and its frequencies, I wanted to become more familiar with sound. Starting with the basics, when using frequency,
you measure in hertz (Hz). Also, sound waves are the transfer of energy without the transfer of matter. This means that waves transfer energy, but it
does not give off any type of liquid, solid, or gas. Sound travels through matter, but is not matter, only energy. Frequency can be defined as the
number of wavelengths to pass a point per second. When going about life we hear different sounds every day. Each sound has its own frequency
depending on how low or how high the sound is. The human ear has the ability to hear sound frequencies from 20–20,000 Hz and animals such as dogs
can hear frequencies of about 50,000 Hz. Sound frequencies below 20 Hz are known as infrasound and frequencies above 20,000 Hz are known as
ultrasound. I will be testing frequencies from many different range, even ultrasound frequencies to determine what kind of frequencies a wine glass
can sustain and what the effect of each frequency has on a wine glass. When a frequency is applied to a wineglass and other types of glass, the glass
will vibrate until the glass can no longer sustain the vibration. My experiment will determine what frequencies just vibrate the glass without breaking it
and what frequencies vibrate the glass to the point of breakage.
Another factor that plays into my experiment is the characteristics of sound waves. The loudness of the sound correlates to

A Glass Of Wine A Day Keeps The Doctor Away Essay
A glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away. Is it enough to just say this without any real evidence to support it? Is just wanting it to be true enough to
convince you? The answer to these two questions could be the difference between acknowledging accurate information presented in a scientific article
and accepting insufficient information presented in a lay article. Lay articles provide brief summaries on the concepts in documented research studies.
Scientific articles thoroughly describe and report findings in research studies. In order for either article to be believable, important information should
be included. This information includes the population of interest and the sample in the study, the independent and dependent variables and their levels,
scale of measurement for each variable, the null and research hypothesis, the test statistic used and its significance level (p value or О± value), results
of the study, research errors, and the assumptions for the specific test statistic. According to Nolan and Heinzen (2011), authors of Essentials ofStatistics
for the Behavioral Sciences, assumptions are, "Characteristics that we ideally require the population from which we are sampling to have (scaled DV,
randomly selected, normally distributed) so that we can make accurate inferences (Nolan & Heinzen, 154)." Comparing a lay article to a scientific
article can aid in one's perception of which type of article most effectively presents all of the necessary information

Montesor's Motivation
Fortunato and I were never the most "compatible", but I never imagined we'd end up the way we did. Fortunato was rich, but insanely idiotic in any

Analyzing The Production Of Grapes
Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors, including key factors such as geography, climate,
soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and harvest.
Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage.
Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweetwine with high alcohol content since these grapes are producing
more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen.

Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap–sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of grapevines. This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and
ruin every vein on the property. It has had a huge impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills
European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a European vine to an American root allowing for the
different grape types to survive and thrive.
The 5 S's are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are essential to understand.
Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine
has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine,
less color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is
older.
Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma. Moreover when you swirl, "legs" and "tears" appear
on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while

One of the most pleasant things to do on a hot California day is sit out on a patio or porch with a group of friends and enjoy a glass of beer or
wine, and converse. Most people would look at their glass of beer and think nothing much of it. When I look at a glass of beer or wine I think of the
complexity of it, the beauty and artistry behind it. I never imagined that yeast, barley, hops, sugar, grapes, and tannins would be words that get me
excited. Yet, I find myself intrigued by thefermentation process; the idea that yeast can be added to a few simple ingredients in order to create
complex foods is extremely compelling to me. It has been an interesting path to my decision to change careers and enter the brewing world, a bit long

Types of Sparkling Wine
Sparkling wine normally stands out because of its fizzy appearance as well as the effervescence wine taste, due to the significant amount of carbon
dioxide. Sparkling wine is produced through four main methods: Method Traditionnelle/ Champenoise, MВђthode Ancestrale, Method Charmat and the
Injection method. All of these methods utilize two fermentation processes, as opposed to just one as in the still wines. The sweetness of the sparkling
wine is determined by the amount of sugar added after the second fermentation as well as the aging.

The Wine And Beer Making Process Essay
If you've read my About page then you know this blog is about delving into the wine and beer making process. If you haven't then I invite to learn
more about me and my blog. But before we delve into the technicalities of making wine I wanted to share some interesting facts I have learned about
red wine. There are numerous varieties of red wine but there are only four popular types: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot.
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned, blue–purple grape with lots of seeds in proportion to its size(A–150). There are two main
reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill our palates and table. The first is its ability to adapt to the soil and climate. The second is its
ability to resist plant viruses and diseases (B–38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley, California
(A–152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat, which allows the vines to stay warm while at the same time preventing the vine from
truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that makes the flavor, so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A–152). In California's Napa Valley
it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients, which creates the signature flavor (A–153). When it
comes to bottling Cabernet Sauvignon it is rarely bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either

Chapter Summary: A Brave New World
The monks came running into the kitchen in their nightshirts. Dom Bernard calmly issued orders. The four sitting at the table were ordered to stand.
Four of the monks sat at the table with the bread, cheese, and beer in front of them. The pounding and yelling continued. Dom Bernard ordered
CГ©dric and Dorian to take Saban and Elisaveta to the cellar. "There are several large barrels by the wine racks. CГ©dric you know where they are."
CГ©dric nodded. "The ones with the spigot were designed for hiding. They contain a small amount of wine below a floor, leaving the remainder of the

Bernard asked Dom Rombout what happened in the cellar. "Well Dom Bernard, while I was sitting at the table I overheard you say the visitors
were to hide in the barrels. When you and the soldier passed the kitchen, I followed you to the cellar with a candle in case you needed more light. I
stayed out of the way but saw the soldier put the glass on top of the barrel. After you and the soldiers went upstairs, I walked over to the barrel and
was reaching for the glass to take it upstairs to wash when the lid rose and the glass slid off and broke. The lid immediately closed and, well, you
know the rest." "So whoever was in the barrel opened the lid?" "Yes, it would seem so. They must not have known the glass was on top." Dom

The Eastern Slope Of The Mingus Mountain
On the eastern slope of the Mingus Mountain in central Arizona sits the town of Jerome. Starting its life as a mining town in the late 1800's, Jerome, at
one time, was known as the Wickedest Town in the West. Between its bars, brothels, and gambling establishments, Jerome became one of the one of the
most accomplished locales in separating miners from their money.
With the dawn of the 1900's, Jerome became more dignified with the establishment of churches, schools, and businesses catering to its growing
population. It even had its own post office and five car dealerships. At its peak, Jerome boasted over 15,000 residents with 3000 miners employed in
the town.
By the 1950's, the local mining industry had all but collapsed and the population dwindled to about 100 people. The perseverance of the remaining
residents to prevent Jerome from becoming just another ghost town, however, led to recognition of the town as a National Historic Site. Over the next
couple decades, Jerome went from being a downward spiraling, abandoned mining town to a major central Arizona tourist destination.
Today, Jerome is a tourist mecca with numerous restaurants, galleries, wine tasting rooms, and unique shops. A literal Ghost Town aspect of Jerome
exists today in the form of local supernatural legends and ghost tours. With its proximity to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, and Interstate–17 and its unique
shops and restaurants, Jerome is a must see destination when traveling in central Arizona.

Cheers For Session Beer Analysis
While flying to the East Coast on business this week, I read a commentary in Zymurgy Magazine (American Home Brewers Publication) titled,
"Cheers for Session Beers." Many of you may not know this, but I have been brewing beers well before my interest in wines. I love creating and
developing beers that taste better than all of the available commercial beers.
A session beer is a beer that has a low alcohol content and is brewed to allow consumers to drink many without becoming intoxicated after only 1 or
2. Typically, session beers contain less than 5% ABV in the United States (US) and less than 4% ABV in the United Kingdom (UK). Examples of
beers that are or have been brewed as session beers include English Milds, Kolsch, Pilsners, Schwarz Bier, etc. They are brewed with a fine balance
between the malts that are used and the hops. They have a clean finish making it very easy to drink many during a session. I have made English Milds
in the 3.0 – 3.5% ABV alcohol and have found them to be quite popular with my friends and colleagues. These beers are becoming rare as many
brewers are pushing the alcohol limits. Even a good friend of mine from England says that he cannot find these low alcohol beers in his homeland
like he use to. High alcohol appears to be what consumers are looking for. Go through the beers (Micro Brews and Commercial) at your local Bev Mo
or liquor store and you will see what I mean. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

points. Of these many points I will discuss two: The pleasure of alcohol and prohibition would be harmful and impractical. I disagree with both
points. I will begin with the first point I disagree with most, where Peele discusses the pleasure of alcohol. "A good wine is to be praised above all other

Prohibition would be harmful and impractical, because of my own view about alcohol prohibition has plenty of benefits. For example economically
people will save money, develop good health, active in social and work life, drunk driving accident frequency will decrease, people will engage in

Cydney Charf disagrees with me. She stated history shows when prohibition of alcohol was enforced in this country in 1920s, when the eighteenth
amendment to the United States constitution went into effect, many peoples still drunk and operated their own stills (alcohol making equipment in
their homes. Charf disagree with me about that, because prohibition of alcohol did not stop people from drinking and they did drink illegally. My

The vine knew it was finally happening.
Beginning to peak through the tip of the vine, there it was, a new grape was ready to bloom. Then, the grape came. The vine was so proud of its
little fruit, so small yet perfect. The little grape was so happy to finally pop out of the vine. It sat there all day watching the hard working people in
the vineyard and watching other grapes be picked, then the grape realized it wanted to be picked so badly. The little grape began to grow, getting
rounder and a deeper purple. As the grape got bigger, other grapes began to grow all around. The grape watched the vineyard workers begin to pick
other grapes off the vine; every time it was not picked, it was disappointed. Other grapes had not been there as long as the other grape, why was it

swarm of birds came through and ate so many grapes. All the grapes around had been eaten, except one. It was grape that was first to grow on the

The Wine Of Wine And Wine
Picture this: a star filled night after a long day, its time for some relaxation. It is time to go to the wine shelve, pick a great bottle of wine and then
pour a glass. Swirling the glass and an aroma begins to waft, expelling a polite bouquet of fruit and spice. This starts a chain reaction to the nose that
then sends a sensation to start the mouth salivating. With the first sip, the sensation of the acidity and body of the wine tickles the tongue, the flavors
intensify as if each sip is a building block and layering each flavor atop the next. A pleasant state of relaxation occurs giving the sense of euphoria.

Investigating Singing Wineglasses
From the time I was in the 5th grade I have played the flute in the band. The flute is an instrument that relies entirely on air to create sound. Pitch on
the flute is varied through many factors such as breath support and air speed. The air creates vibrations that travel through the instrument creating
different notes. As a little girl I remember my dad setting out my mom's crystal wine glasses and showing me how to create music with them. It
fascinated me how such a simple household object could create such beautiful tones just like I could with my flute. Therefore, when I was presented

Research Question: Is the frequency emanating from a wineglass proportional to the amount of water in the glass or the diameter of the glass?
The purpose of my experiment is to test three wine glasses of different diameters and measure their frequencies while varying the height of the water
for each glass. My end goal is to hopefully be able to determine whether or not the frequency emitted by the glass is proportionally related to the
diameter of the wine glass, or the amount of water in the wine glass.
Hypothesis:
If I increase the amount of water in the wineglass then it will result in a lower pitch (frequency) regardless of its diameter therefore making pitch
inversely proportional to the amount of water.
I decided upon my hypothesis for the reason that as water is added to the wine glass, it will result in a greater mass. This greater mass should result in
the glass vibrating in larger and further apart waves. The larger and further apart the waves are, the lower the pitch of the sound, making the frequency
proportional to the amount of water.
Variables list: Independent variable– Amount of water (depth) and diameter. Dependent variables– Pitch/frequency Controlled variables – The
temperature of the water, Spectrum View App, finger used
Controlling the Variables:
Depth of water: The amount of water will be changed by 1 cm for every data point. (There are 9) This will be measured in height in order to get the

Women During Ancient Roman Society

  • 1. Women During Ancient Roman Society One of the oldest beverages known to man is wine, an alcoholic drink made from fermented grapes. Wine has been enjoyed all around the world and Ancient Rome is no exception. Ancient Rome played an important role in its history. Wine carried religious, philosophical, and social implications for the Romans as it was a part of their daily life. The popularity of wine and drunkenness in Ancient Rome is clearly portrayed throughout poetry, art, literature and even laws. Although wine was eventually available to all, it's implications for women were severe. An important connection between Ancient Rome and wine that is rarely discussed is the idea of denying women a right to drink. Today, it is not uncommon or distasteful for women to have a glass of wine but in Roman society, women's overindulgence of wine was frowned upon. This paper will discuss women in Ancient Roman society and analyze sources from Valerius Maximus and Propertius to focus on how the role of wine reinforced the patriarchal system and oppression of women. To understand Roman views for women drinking we must understand women's role in Roman society, better yet, their position in society. Women were dominated by the males in their life; their fathers, their relatives, and their husbands. Women had no identity of their own besides being a daughter, and a wife. Their fathers had absolute control over their lives and women were completely dominated that the Fathers could sell them into slavery or force them into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cabernet Franc Essay 3.Cabernet Franc: New Zealand's 6th most broadly planted red–wine assortment, Cabernet Franc is likely a transformation of Cabernet Sauvignon, the much higher profile mixed bag with which it is so regularly mixed. Jancis Robinson's expression, 'a kind of claret Beaujolais', relevantly entireties up the way of this flexible and underrated red–wine grape. • 5. Informative Speech About Wine Benefits of Wine Aeration Hello everyone! I'm excited to be speaking to you today about my absolute favorite alcoholic beverage... red wine! I'm here to share information about some of the unknown benefits of wine aeration. Aerating certain varietals of red wine reduces ethanol and sulfite content, helps to remove sediment, and enhances flavor profile, texture, and aromas (Smith, 2015). I have drink many, many bottles of red wine, and there are significant differences to aerated wine. Aerated wine has a softer mouthfeel, as well as an overall better taste. So, today I will be explaining the process of aeration, the varietals of wine that should or should not be aerated, and the assortment of wine aerators available on the market. Now, some ... This is the most common type of aerator and requires minimal effort, simply pour the wine into the decanter and wait about 30 minutes for the wine to reach full potential. Decanters also inhibit sediment from being poured into the glass. Next, there are aerating wine glasses, which have a rib–like protrusion that creates friction when swirling, causing air bubbles to form. Finally, there are a variety of electric and manual aerators, that can be handheld or attached to the wine glass or bottle for instant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Red Wine Thesis Red Wine Wine corporations have made numerous claims that red wine has multiple health benefits, including heart health, longer life span, and even fights against some cancers. According to studies, a glass of red wine a day is beneficial to your heart health. Regarding whether or not this claim is true, goes beyond the myths and assumptions made by skeptics. To prove that this claim is, in fact valid, a chemical found in redwine, resveratrol is a chemical that is found within all plants (grapes in this case) that is used as a protection mechanism. But how does that affect a human consumer? RUNNING HEAD: FROM FRANCE TO OKLAHOMA: THE SUMMINATION IF CHARDONAY 1 FROM FRANCE TO OKLAHOMA: THE SUMMINATION OF CHARDONAY CHRYSTAL WEBB BMC TULSA FROM FRANCE TO OKLAHOMA: THE SUMMINATION IF CHARDONAY One might think of the Chardonnay grape as a traveler, comparative to a nomadic race, roaming from place to place. From France to California, stopping along the way to leave its imprint on the locals – surviving in some areas to become a dominant part of history and commerce, as some members of a tribe might, and some continue on to search out the omnipresent dream of a promised land. For the Chardonnay grape, this Promised Land was California and its journey was fruitful. The Chardonnay grape of the species Vitis vinifera ssp. vinifera has long had a mysterious origin while expanding its future from the Old World to the New, enjoying cool temperatures and surviving thanks to its winter hardiness. Along the way, Chardonnay was planted in Oklahoma, and even though the land and climates are much different from those of its native France, Chardonnay continued to surprise. Steadfast and as stubborn as its growers, the vine production in Oklahoma continues to grow. These small, light green fruits can produce one of the most well–known and highly produced white wines in the world were inevitable. The origin Vitis vinifera ssp. vinifera has long been a mystery. • 8. How Many Antioxidants Are On Your Beer And Wine? How many antioxidants are in your beer and wine? There are those that love to drink. Red wine, white wine, beer, cocktails. You have your preferences, but you're happy as long as there's a drink in your hand and a Miley Cyrus song playing in the background. But let's be real: your health matters. Sure, drinking isn't the epitome of healthy. But drink now or drink never. Drinking alone while all your friends play scrabble with their kids at home doesn't sound like fun. If you're going to get wasted (or even just a little tipsy), you can make the best choices. How? By maximizing the amount of antioxidants your drink with your alcohol. Sure, a better option would be to skip the alcohol. But that's just no fun. Instead, minimize the damage and maximize your fun by drinking the world's alcohols that top the list for antioxidant content. Monsieur Ochs set his glass down on the table. "If I knew that, Mr. Gould..." "I would be more than happy to go if I had any confidence that it would make a difference," Mr. Alderbeek offered. "As would I," Mr. Gould said. "I suppose any or all of us would, but will it make a difference?" Robert said, becoming as frustrated as Monsieur Ochs seemed to be. "As I said, I do not believe that it will," Monsieur Ochs said, beginning to pour out another glass of wine, much to Robert's confusion, since he already had a glass. "And round and round and round we go," Robert said with a sigh. A smile played on Monsieur Ochs's face. "Then what do we do?" Mr. Gould asked. "We wait." Monsieur Ochs shrugged. "Tomorrow is another social event," Mr. Alderbeek said with some hope coloring his statement. "Yes, yes, it is!" Robert leaped on his idea. "At the Marquis de BarthГ©lemy's home, isn't it?" "Yes," Mr. "Yes. Like everything in a human life has certain code of rules or etiquettes, wine also has one. I think one should really know about wine etiquettes before feeling its flawless experience. Precisely, there are wine fanatics, those principal aficionados of superior wine, and there are wine lovers, or those who just value wine. The previous have a propensity to be sterner in their conduct and in how they serve and taste. The essential canon of wine etiquette and using up are for those of us who like a glass or two, must say a goblet every so often, perhaps even gather and possess a small shelf or subterranean vault and want to augment our admiration, knowledge ... You must have a visual inspection of the bottle and look at the label to ensure it is the wine and vintage you ordered. If it is not, feel free to tell the server. The server will then remove the cork and put it on the table in front of you. Pick it up, examine it and squeeze it to determine if it is dry and crumbly or completely wet – both of these clues say that air may have reached and spoiled the wine. Thereafter, the server will pour a small amount of wine into your glass. Look at it against a white background. Swirl it, put your nose in the glass, and take a deep breath. Take a sip and roll it around in your mouth before you swallow. If you don't detect any flaws, nod to the server. That's what it takes to have an enormously delighting adventure. What is important to the beginners is to detect that if the wine smells like wet cardboard, tastes like vinegar, or is otherwise flawed, you should give it back by simply saying that the you are afraid of the bottle is bad and pathetic, so would like to return it. I looked at the cook whose name I didn't know, studying his bushy mustache and the toothpick hanging from the corner of his mouth. • 14. Antinori Family Research Paper The Antinori family has a rich history in Tuscany and in the winemaking community. Over the course of twenty–six generations and six centuries, the family has become one of the most prominent wine producers in the Tuscan viticulture. The first documented account of the family making a wine dates back to 1184 and Rinuccio di Antinoro, the originator of the Antinori line. The Antinori family did not start off in the winemaking business however, they started off as silk producers who made wine as a hobby. On May, 19th, 1395, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the "Arte Fiorentina", or the Winemakers' Guild of the city of Florence. It is clear that the Marchesi Antinori wine firm is a family business and has been for the last six centuries. Tradition and family are important to the company. The Antinori family has been a member of the PFV, the "Premium Familiae Vini" since the association was founded. The PFV is an association of vineyards and cellars, which belong to families. The French Paradox Of Cholesterol And Saturated Fat Diet The French paradox is a slogan which was first used in the 1980's to summarize the observation of low Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) rates, as shown in figure 1, of the French despite their dangerously high intake of dietary cholesterol and saturated fat (FerriГЁres, 2004). The French acquire approximately 38% of their energy from fat with 16% of that being saturated fat. This is in contradiction to the widely known and proved hypothesis that a high consumption of fat is a major factor in CHD. This paradox implies a significant possibility: There is an additional factor in the French diet that alleviates the risks associated with a high fat diet. Ryan Fujiu believes that it is the regular consumption of red wine that diminishes the dangers of a high fat diet. He states that: "The health benefits of red wine have come to light in recent years. Hope is on the horizon, and it may be in your glass" ref. This topic is highly controversial as there are also detriments to the consumption of alcohol. There has been much debate about this issue for the last two decades. In order to make a plausible decision on Ryan's statement, this report will look at the advantages and disadvantages of red wine by analysing chemicals present in wine and their effects on the human body. During the wine making process various chemicals are added, so it is necessary to look at the wine making process first to come up with a plausible decision for Ryan's statement. • 16. Cups Without Wine I found the poem, Cups Without Wine are Lowly, intriguing and fun. The author pulled me in with the tittle and kept my interest being short and sweet. An explanation how I would describe how this poem was written. What the author is trying to explain is how much they love wine and possible, if this was to an individual, how much they want that individual to get them wine. Maybe the author had an empty glass, or even a figurative glass. For me, wine has never cot my fancy. Yes, red wine in a glass is an elegant seen to behold, especially with fine cheeses and fancy attire. But every wine I have tastes has that fermented burning aftertaste as is runs down my throat. It is hard for me to imagine wine being so loved by so many. I understand wine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Full is referring to a full cup of wine, another aspect that is intriguing is how the author describes wine as juice, downgrading the alcoholic beverage possibly to explain that wine is not that bad. Juice is made of fruits and berries making it a sugary healthy option. After degrading wine to the authors audience, they then share how the cup shines when it is full of wine. To our brain, things that shine tend to have higher value then things that absorb the light. Looking back, this poem was all around fun to read and showed emotion in such a simple but complex way. I have found I enjoy poems that show emotion and induce thought. I am unsure of I could have written out frustration in such an elegant way, visualizing instead of just saying how it is. • 17. I Am A Man On Social Media There was a soft wind blowing that morning. The birds were chirping in the trees and the glow of the rising sun tinted the sky with shades of yellow and orange. As I walked to the car, I could feel the soft breeze pass through my hair so gently as if an angel ran its fingers through each strand. I paused for a moment to enjoy that delightful feeling before I began my journey to work. On the way to work, began to think of the guy that has stolen my heart. Every song that played reminded me of him. As I listened to "Baby, Hold on to me" by Gerald Levert, I began to envision us looking into each other's eyes and slowly dancing the night away. I met this wonderful man on social media. Never had I imagined that I would ever fall for someone that I have never met in person. This man is one of a kind. He is handsome, intelligent, loving, and an all–around good guy. No one is perfect but he makes me feel as if I am in a fairytale; I am Cinderella and he is Prince Charming. With his words he assures me that he is not here to hurt me but to cherish me. With every passing day, I feel more connected to him than ever. After months of courting, he called and notified me of a surprise that is coming for me. For days I wait anxiously for the unknown surprise. • 19. Wine Culture Means A Lot Wine culture means a lot to people. People can suspend their 'secular identities' throughout the bottle opening, rituals, wine festivals, wine tastings (Fuller, R. 1996). Wine has been called a 'chemical symphony', 'bottled poetry' and a 'capture sunshine' (Becker 1979) To start with, wine is produced only once a year, in the fall, when the grapes are ripen. Grapes contain yeast and when these are compressed into a pot for a period of time, then yeast ferments sugar in the juice into alcohol and Carbon Dioxide. A few days later, wine is produced (Stefan, K. 2002) At the Neolithic settlements in the Zagros Mountains of today's Iran, wine was likely made from the native Vitis vinifera sylvestris grape. (Kenneth, F. & Connee, R. 2000) o3500– 525 B.C – Near East, Egypt and Mesopotamia: During the Early Bronze Age, there was an establishment of a successful winemaking industry in the Nile Delta, in Egypt and Palestine, – by at least Dynasty 3 (ca. 2700 B.C.), the beginning of the Old Kingdom period. Wine in Egypt was considered a beverage (drink) for the wealthy people, while beer and water were consumed by the poorest people, until the coming of the Greeks in the Hellenistic period (Brothwell, D. and Brothwell, P. 1998). Evidence of winemaking in Egypt, were found on tomb walls picturizing winemaking scenes and the accompanying offering lists include wine was definitely produced at vineyards in the Delta. • 20. Wine Glass Limitations The following essay will explore topics related sound frequency, glass, wavelengths, and the properties of sound allowing I am able to grasp a better understanding of sound and its effects on glass. Sound is much powerful than most expect. I do believe that sound has the potential to break wine glasses when a certain frequency is applied. The science fair project I will be conducting is based upon if sound can break glass, more specifically a wine glass. I will be using speakers to play different frequencies and all of the same kind of wine glass to conduct my experiment. My hypothesis–stated before any research was done–was: a wineglass will break if a frequency higher than –––– is applied to the glass. Since my project will be experimenting with sound and its frequencies, I wanted to become more familiar with sound. Starting with the basics, when using frequency, you measure in hertz (Hz). Also, sound waves are the transfer of energy without the transfer of matter. This means that waves transfer energy, but it does not give off any type of liquid, solid, or gas. Sound travels through matter, but is not matter, only energy. Frequency can be defined as the number of wavelengths to pass a point per second. When going about life we hear different sounds every day. Each sound has its own frequency depending on how low or how high the sound is. The human ear has the ability to hear sound frequencies from 20–20,000 Hz and animals such as dogs can hear frequencies of about 50,000 Hz. Sound frequencies below 20 Hz are known as infrasound and frequencies above 20,000 Hz are known as ultrasound. I will be testing frequencies from many different range, even ultrasound frequencies to determine what kind of frequencies a wine glass can sustain and what the effect of each frequency has on a wine glass. When a frequency is applied to a wineglass and other types of glass, the glass will vibrate until the glass can no longer sustain the vibration. My experiment will determine what frequencies just vibrate the glass without breaking it and what frequencies vibrate the glass to the point of breakage. Another factor that plays into my experiment is the characteristics of sound waves. The loudness of the sound correlates to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. A Glass Of Wine A Day Keeps The Doctor Away Essay A glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away. Is it enough to just say this without any real evidence to support it? Is just wanting it to be true enough to convince you? The answer to these two questions could be the difference between acknowledging accurate information presented in a scientific article and accepting insufficient information presented in a lay article. Lay articles provide brief summaries on the concepts in documented research studies. Scientific articles thoroughly describe and report findings in research studies. In order for either article to be believable, important information should be included. This information includes the population of interest and the sample in the study, the independent and dependent variables and their levels, scale of measurement for each variable, the null and research hypothesis, the test statistic used and its significance level (p value or О± value), results of the study, research errors, and the assumptions for the specific test statistic. According to Nolan and Heinzen (2011), authors of Essentials ofStatistics for the Behavioral Sciences, assumptions are, "Characteristics that we ideally require the population from which we are sampling to have (scaled DV, randomly selected, normally distributed) so that we can make accurate inferences (Nolan & Heinzen, 154)." Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors, including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and harvest. Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage. Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweetwine with high alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen. Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don't do well in rich, organic soils. Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap–sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of grapevines. This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and ruin every vein on the property. It has had a huge impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive and thrive. The 5 S's are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are essential to understand. Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine, less color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older. Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma. Moreover when you swirl, "legs" and "tears" appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while

If you haven't then I invite to learn more about me and my blog. But before we delve into the technicalities of making wine I wanted to share some interesting facts I have learned about red wine. There are numerous varieties of red wine but there are only four popular types: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned, blue–purple grape with lots of seeds in proportion to its size(A–150). There are two main reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill our palates and table. The first is its ability to adapt to the soil and climate. The second is its ability to resist plant viruses and diseases (B–38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley, California (A–152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat, which allows the vines to stay warm while at the same time preventing the vine from truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that makes the flavor, so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A–152). In California's Napa Valley it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients, which creates the signature flavor (A–153). When it comes to bottling Cabernet Sauvignon it is rarely bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Starting its life as a mining town in the late 1800's, Jerome, at one time, was known as the Wickedest Town in the West. Between its bars, brothels, and gambling establishments, Jerome became one of the one of the most accomplished locales in separating miners from their money. With the dawn of the 1900's, Jerome became more dignified with the establishment of churches, schools, and businesses catering to its growing population. It even had its own post office and five car dealerships. At its peak, Jerome boasted over 15,000 residents with 3000 miners employed in the town. By the 1950's, the local mining industry had all but collapsed and the population dwindled to about 100 people. The perseverance of the remaining residents to prevent Jerome from becoming just another ghost town, however, led to recognition of the town as a National Historic Site. Over the next couple decades, Jerome went from being a downward spiraling, abandoned mining town to a major central Arizona tourist destination. Cheers For Session Beer Analysis While flying to the East Coast on business this week, I read a commentary in Zymurgy Magazine (American Home Brewers Publication) titled, "Cheers for Session Beers." Many of you may not know this, but I have been brewing beers well before my interest in wines. I love creating and developing beers that taste better than all of the available commercial beers. A session beer is a beer that has a low alcohol content and is brewed to allow consumers to drink many without becoming intoxicated after only 1 or 2. Typically, session beers contain less than 5% ABV in the United States (US) and less than 4% ABV in the United Kingdom (UK). Examples of beers that are or have been brewed as session beers include English Milds, Kolsch, Pilsners, Schwarz Bier, etc. They are brewed with a fine balance between the malts that are used and the hops. They have a clean finish making it very easy to drink many during a session. I have made English Milds in the 3.0 – 3.5% ABV alcohol and have found them to be quite popular with my friends and colleagues. These beers are becoming rare as many brewers are pushing the alcohol limits. Even a good friend of mine from England says that he cannot find these low alcohol beers in his homeland like he use to. High alcohol appears to be what consumers are looking for. Go through the beers (Micro Brews and Commercial) at your local Bev Mo or liquor store and you will see what I mean. ... Cydney Charf disagrees with me. She stated history shows when prohibition of alcohol was enforced in this country in 1920s, when the eighteenth amendment to the United States constitution went into effect, many peoples still drunk and operated their own stills (alcohol making equipment in their homes. Charf disagree with me about that, because prohibition of alcohol did not stop people from drinking and they did drink illegally. It sat there all day watching the hard working people in the vineyard and watching other grapes be picked, then the grape realized it wanted to be picked so badly. Investigating Singing Wineglasses From the time I was in the 5th grade I have played the flute in the band. The flute is an instrument that relies entirely on air to create sound. Pitch on the flute is varied through many factors such as breath support and air speed. The air creates vibrations that travel through the instrument creating different notes. As a little girl I remember my dad setting out my mom's crystal wine glasses and showing me how to create music with them. It fascinated me how such a simple household object could create such beautiful tones just like I could with my flute. Therefore, when I was presented with the internal assessment for my IB physics class, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research Question: Is the frequency emanating from a wineglass proportional to the amount of water in the glass or the diameter of the glass? The purpose of my experiment is to test three wine glasses of different diameters and measure their frequencies while varying the height of the water for each glass. My end goal is to hopefully be able to determine whether or not the frequency emitted by the glass is proportionally related to the diameter of the wine glass, or the amount of water in the wine glass. Hypothesis: If I increase the amount of water in the wineglass then it will result in a lower pitch (frequency) regardless of its diameter therefore making pitch inversely proportional to the amount of water. I decided upon my hypothesis for the reason that as water is added to the wine glass, it will result in a greater mass. This greater mass should result in the glass vibrating in larger and further apart waves. The larger and further apart the waves are, the lower the pitch of the sound, making the frequency proportional to the amount of water. Variables list: Independent variable– Amount of water (depth) and diameter. Dependent variables– Pitch/frequency Controlled variables – The temperature of the water, Spectrum View App, finger used Controlling the Variables:
