The film of Hector and the Search for Happiness has a captivating plot which makes us want to watch
it until the end. Since in his research Hector goes to three places and each place has their own moral
value, this film is suitable for your soul. One of the places that Hector visits is China. In the movie,
China is described as a wonderful country, which has unique culture. The second place is Africa, with
glorious savannah and wild animals. Next, in Los Angeles, Hector obtains some happiness meanings
and feels what happiness is. There are many good films. However, Hector and the Search for
Happiness stands out from other movies for its inspirational plotline and enthralling moral value. Even
though, this film has many positive sides, there is a blatant weakness of this film. There are some
adulterated scenes involving Hector and Ying Li. Hence, it is not proper for children. Another
weakness of this film is its violent scenes. Hector, at the beginning of this film, is not very capable in
handling his emotion. Therefore, he lashes out with swearing and throwing things around. Overall,
this film is one of a kind for

Littering Ethos Pathos Logos
An advertisement from the company Livegreen Toronto about littering is the artifact I chose to best
represent what ethos, pathos and logos do. There is a different bag and package, including a lays chip
bag, and a glue package combined into one that spell the word lazy . At the bottom of the
advertisement there is a saying littering says a lot about you which implies that people who litter are
lazy. The advertisement is meant to appeal to all people in todays society to stop littering. When
looking at the advertisement, people might think it is clever and witty, while others might think it is
rude and inappropriate to call someone lazy . I chose this advertisement as the artifact because I think
it best includes all ethos, pathos, and logos. The concept that this artifact is representing are the three
proofs of rhetoric; ethos, pathos and logos. Each proof represents something different; ethos represents

Ethos is at works in this advertisement because the company is using their own credibility to stop
people from littering by implying that they are lazy . Pathos is being used the most in this
advertisement because the company is grabbing the audiences attention by using feelings. Some
people feel angry while looking at the advertisement because they don t want to be considered lazy
if they drop a wrapper on the ground instead of in the trash. Some people feel sad while looking at the
advertisement because they don t think there should even be an advertisement to tell people not to
litter. The audience gets these feelings because the speaker, in this case the company, grabs the
audiences attention by telling them they are lazy. Lastly, logos is at work in this advertisement but it is
being used with the audience instead of the company. They must think about the topic that is being
presented in the ad and the reasoning behind why someone would make an advertisement about this

Roberto Cavalli has for his new collection for autumn/winter this year reinvented prints and shapes to
give new energy in his youthful line in an attempt to flirt with the new generation of globe trotters.
Other designers participating at the Milan fashion week presented more outgoing and daring
collections on the second day of 2013 14 autumn and winter shows, as a reaction on the political and
economic situation in Italy.
With this collection Cavalli wanted to show the world that he is back, and he found inspiration for ...

Through time he has always been an early user of new technology and use of digital imaging for his
prints. For the fall collection of 2013 he has tried another approach, craving for a more handcrafted
approach to his work and he is now focusing his work on the drawing board and the painter´s easel.
For this collection he is using artwork of sixteenth century leaders as Rubens and Caravaggio as a
springboard.
He created a series of floral and baroque tableaux that were woven into the collection. The motifs that
he used in the new collection was often made by hand, and the people sitting in the front row was able
to see and trace the colorful brushstrokes painted on the clothes. Other patterns was fixed on/into the
fabrics in more tactile was, for example the two devorè velvet tuxedo suits. ( see pic)
Cavalli is just one of many designers this season that is using the idea of modern armor. Together with
local centuries old Florentine ateliers he putted his ideas into action. He incorporated leather and fur
into a complex chain mail on his models wearing sparkling black mini dresses. Based on what his
hade made so far he is definitely going on the darker mood but he is combining the dark mood with a
romantic feeling.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Excicessing
Pharmaceutical Excipients Coprocessing
Nowadays, there is an increasing demand on multifunctional excipients that replaces the need and use
of multiple excipients. There are two ways that can fulfill this requirement, first, the development of
new excipients with new chemical entity that has good properties including stability, flowability,
compressibility, etc... and is compatible with other excipients in the formulation and with the Active
Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). The second way is to make new grades of exisiting excipient, or to
modify it in a way that meets the needs of development. Excipient modifications can be categorized
into chemical and physical modifications. The chemical modification deals with chemical reaction that

Table 1 shows the general advantages and disadvantages of coprocessing. As shown in the table, if an
excipient has certain limitation such as poor flowability and compressibility, coprocessing could be
the solution to overcome this problem. On the other hand, coprocessed excipients ratio is fixed and
can t be changed. Sometimes this ratio may be incompatible with the API or with the dose [2].
In general, coprocessing is carried out for one plastic and one brittle deforming excipient in order to
minimize the elastic energy stored during compression and to decrease capping or lamination of the
tablet, in addition, this combination is reflected positively on the compressibility of the powder.
Coprocessed excipient use in direct compression tablet manufacturing process combines the
advantages of wet granulation with the fast processing of direct compression[6]. As mentioned above,
the ratio of initial excipients included in the coprocessed excipient is fixed, the particles of the
excipient with the lower percentage can be processed on the surface or in the core of the other
excipient. Excipients must be homogenized and then coprocessed

French Polynesia
Agriculture Originally, most French Polynesians relied on agriculture as a mean to survive but when
the French nuclear testing began in the 1960s, many abandoned farming. The whole farming industry
almost collapsed for French Polynesia. Exports of vanilla and coffee had ended by 1965 while coconut
production has dropped by a whooping 40 percent. French Polynesians grow coconut trees, vanilla
orchids for vanilla extracts, vegetables, fruits and Theobroma cacao trees for coffee. Aquaculture
included pearl oyster farms which is a big thing in French Polynesia because many tourists like the
pearls that come from the oysters. There are now many eco friendly pearl oyster farms that helps the
economy grow. A occupation in agriculture was also often given to men and they got better
opportunities for this field of work. Men in the 1960s also had a breakthrough with commercial
agriculture and got introduced to wage paying jobs. There are also fish farms and dairy farms. Not a
lot of the land is given for agriculture, especially after the French nuclear testing.

Economic Analysis of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away
Anime or animation started in the early 20th century by Japanese filmmakers who experimented with
animation techniques. Hayao Miyazaki, a director, animator, screenwriter, and illustrator of such
animated films is the creator of Spirited Away. Spirited Away is a film about Chihiro, a young girl who
upon moving to a new town becomes lost in the spirit world after her father takes a wrong turn on
their way to their new house. Hayao Miyazaki s Spirited away illustrates not only the struggles
Chihiro has to overcome in order to save her parents who turn into pigs upon eating the food of the
spirit world, but there are also many instants in which the role of the economy have caused an impact
on Chihiro s journey. In particular bourgeoisie, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only shows how little reorganization the proletariat group receives but also that Yubaba does
not care for the safety of her employees. Even so the proletariats at the bathhouse still thrive to
achieve their goals such as Lin who states I ve got to get out of this place. Some day I m getting on
that train (Suzuki, Miyazaki, 2001). This shows that although the proletariats are disadvantaged in
most aspects of life they still manage to dream and look toward the future.
The informal economy is the underground work done to gain more income, but is hidden from official
growth figures, from the public s conscience and are not reported to the government. A number of
characteristics can be linked to this concept two are the higher rate of women in employed in the
informal economy and informal economies have flourished for quite a long period of time. In the
movie Spirited Away the informal economy plays a minor role however it is very distinct. Yubaba
employs Haku to do the dirty work or the underground work in which he is to steal many items worth
either money or that have magic value. One particular task she assigns him is to steal Zeneba s golden
seal. This example shows how Yubaba acquires wealth and magic through the informal economy.
Another example of the in formal economy is when the workers of the bathhouse continuously fight

The Road to Becoming a Teacher

Senior Project Research Paper

The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Teachers bear the heavy responsibility of molding the minds of our nation s most precious resource, its
children. The road to becoming a teacher is a long one, involving post high school education, people
skills, and a desire to change lives. These traits, when accompanied by experience and good
techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Before anything else, teachers
must have a desire to impact the lives of their students (Education). Some teachers teach because they
want to help children learn and grow and would like to make a contribution to society. Others have an
intellectual fascination with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers must be ready to deal with an array of students with different needs. Their day usually begins
around 8 a.m. where they face the difficult task of waking up their tired students and getting them
ready to learn. They must find interesting ways of presenting the subjects that students often find
tedious (Princeton). Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help
students understand the material (School Teachers).
A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved in
after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and projects,
and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik).
There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed and
refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own
groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact
with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers).
Even with the experience of the teacher training programs mentioned earlier, nothing can fully prepare
a person to become a teacher. According to Dr. Bob Kizlik, Each of the roles [a teacher plays] requires
practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher preparation programs. Not all who want to be
teachers should

African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America
Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity
outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should be
perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race was
one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just three of
the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors commented on these
issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington, and Charles Chestnutt are
three authors that share their views with their readers. Miscegenation occurs when different racial
groups mix through marriage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We make our customs lightly; once made, like our sins, they grip us in bands of steel, we become
creatures of our creations. By one standard the office boy should have never been born. Yet he is a son
of Adam and came into existence in the way ordained by God from the beginning of the world
(Chestnutt, 24). Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his reader feelings. The
customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another. Chestnutt leaves his readers
with this dichotomy in his book. Chestnutt balances between Larsen and Washington s views. He
makes his reader think though the reasons why or why not miscegenation should or should not be
allowed. Sexuality was also an issue for Blacks in this time period. Most black women were classified
as either a respectable, almost asexual, lady or a whore. They were classified as a mammy or a jezebel.
There was a dichotomy between what women were allowed to be. Sexual desire needed to be separate
from respectability. And respectability was highly prized. Larsen s character Helga struggles greatly
with this dichotomy between sexual desire and respectability. She has been taught to be a respectable
woman in order to uplift the race and that black women should be perceived in a certain way. Larsen
writes of Helga and Dr. Anderson s conversation about Helga s upbringing. Dr. Anderson says,

Regulation and Functions of the p53 Protein
p53 gene, also known as tumor protein 53 (TP53), encodes for a tumor suppressor protein which
regulates the cell cycle and apoptosis. The p53 protein has been described as the guardian of the
genome (1) because of its role in preventing genetic mutation. It belongs to a protein family which
includes p53, p63 and p73 and these are structurally and functionally related to each other. However,
p53 seems to have evolved as a tumor suppressor in higher organisms, while p63 and p73 play a role
in normal developmental biology (2).
Structure of p53
P53 functions primarily as a transcription factor, and is biologically active as a homo tetramer
comprising of 4 X 393 amino acid residues. Each monomer comprises of several functional domains:
1. An acidic N terminus transcription activating domain 1 and 2 (TAD1/2) This region interacts with
various transcription factors
2. Proline rich region (PRR) This plays a role in p53 stability
3. Central DNA binding domain (DBD) required for binding to specific sites on the DNA.
4. Tetramerization domain (OD) required for the assembly of the functional tetramer.
5. Carboxyl terminus domain (CTD) which is bound to DNA binding domain and is involved in
negative modulation of DNA binding domain.
The central DNA binding domain is the most highly conserved region of p53, when compared to its
other family members, p63 and p73. Loss of tumor suppressor function of p53, as seen in most
cancers, results from missense mutations in the DNA

Machiavelli s Once Argentina
How to solve a century long dispute between two countries is much debated over the past few weeks.
In 1833 the diplomatic tension between the United Kingdom and Argentina began over claims of the
Falkland Islands, a remote island south of the Argentine. Decades have passed since Argentina
surrendered to the British army losing the islands. Populist president Cristina Kirchner has
exacerbated the tension with her insulting demands and threats. Recently a new era has dawned over
the country of Argentina with new president Mauricio Macri. Philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli s plan
would advocate that good can come from evil actions. While Mozi s plan would be to learn from
mistakes and figure out what is best for the people and country. While Machiavelli s ... Show more

This is the way to order for the world, and it should not be neglected . Mozi is saying that President
Macri shouldn t just focus his attention on what is best for Argentina and its people. Mozi says to pay
attention to the people of the Falkland Islands as well. If he wants sovereignty of the islands he has to
make sure he wins their trust and loyalty. Mozi s philosophy argues that people in power should care
for all people the same. Some people might argue and say that a leader should act above everyone else
to be able to enforce the rules. But Mozi insists that President Macri must view the people of the
Falkland Islands as if they were his own. A referendum held on the island in 2013 said 99.8% of the
population wanted to remain the current situation of being an overseas territory under the control of
the UK. Treating the islanders as his own people and not neglect them would help to avoid any type of
rebellion. Machiavelli s solution could ensure that the UK would never interfere with Argentina and
the Falkland Islands. But it would mean that they would have to relive another war that they could
lose yet again. Mozi s plan is superior to Machiavelli s because it would mean President Macri would
not be making the same mistakes as the former leaders. It would mean gaining a new relationship with
the UK and the islands Argentina has repeatedly fought

Essay about Cinematography and the Film Citizen Kane (1941)
The absolutely stunning film, Citizen Kane (1941), is one of the world s most famous and highly
renowned films. The film contains many remarkable scenes and cinematic techniques as well as
innovations. Within this well known film, Orson Welles (director) portrays many stylistic features and
fundamentals of cinematography. The scene of Charles Foster Kane and his wife, Susan, at Xanadu
shows the dominance that Kane bears over people in general as well as Susan specifically. Throughout
the film, Orson Welles continues to convey the message of Susan s inferiority to Mr. Kane. Also,

She yearned to see friends and leave Xanadu. Orson Welles was a mastermind in creating scenes using
light. Inevitably this caused the viewer to think thoroughly about what they viewed. Through staging
and proxemics we can understand more about what the director was thinking. Opening the scene at
Xanadu, Susan is seen sitting at the table working on a puzzle while Charles Kane is standing on a
quarter turn. It is shown that Mr. Kane bears dominance over Susan at this point. She is shown in a
few different cuts with a puzzle representing her boredom. At Xanadu, that is the only thing that she
could do besides conversing with her overbearing husband. The proxemics between Mr. Kane and
Susan are quite interesting because Susan is shown further away from her husband as every part of the
scene cuts to a new clip. This represents their distancing. Being at Xanadu represents the distancing
between the Kane s because it is such a large dwelling that they barely see each other. The distancing
is represented physically and emotionally throughout the film. I thought we might have a picnic
tomorrow and invite everyone to spend the night in the Everglades. (Kane). Invite everyone? Order

La Farce de Maitre Pathelin- the character of Guillemette
La Farce de Maitre Pierre Pathelin has been called a little masterpiece . In comparison to most earlier

In scene V, a similar comparison can be made between the intelligence of Guillemette and that of the
drapier. It is true that Guillemette has the advantage over the drapier in that she is at home and
Pathelin is on her side against the drapier; but one would still assume that a crafty tradesman would be
more quick witted than a simple housewife. Yet, as already noted above, Guillemette manages to
completely outsmart and deceive the drapier, leaving him dumbfounded. In this scene, as in scenes I
and III, Guillemette s cleverness is clear.
So Guillemette comes across as more intelligent than the other main characters in the play; and, unlike
them, she is not the victim of trickery. The result of this is that Guillemette is the character with whom
the audience can identify with most closely. In a play such as the Farce, where there is no narrator, one
of the characters often plays the role of an intermediary between the characters and the audience. Such
a character encourages the audience to feel more involved in the play and to see it as a reflection of
their own society. In the Farce and it is Guillemette who plays this role, and it is in this way that she is
most important. At no point does she address the audience

False Perception Paper
False Perception There are times when correlation between variables appears to present an obvious
causal relationship, however, it is irresponsible for both researchers and the news media to produce
predictions without looking for alternate factors. A good example is decades of reporting on the
relationship between single mother households (independent variable) and rising crime rates
(dependent variable). The preceding example was explored by Philip Cohen (2012) in his article on
the single mom and murder rate relationship during the 1990s, in which he noted, I think single
mothers especially those who were raising kids back in the 1990s deserve an apology from the
conventional wisdom purveyors of that time (para. 2). Beginning with an exploration of the media s
interpretation of this relationship, I will also further examine the correct interpretation, and the policy
implications of Cohen s finding. The Media s Interpretation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sadly, it appears the media bought into an apparent epidemic and began to publish reports, perhaps
driven by confirmation bias or simply failing to conduct enough investigation. The published reports
in the 1990s cited the cause of rising crime rates as the rising amount of black households with single
mothers that were unable to control their children, instill values, etc. (Cohen, 2012). While I believe it
is not that farfetched to assume there is a relationship between family structure and the youths from
those households committing crime, I also believe there are other factors involved that the media
should have

Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan Essay
Country music is one of the most popular genres of music throughout America. There are many
influential figures that have changed the way country music sounds, and how people interpret it. Two
important people who have made a huge impact on country music overtime are Johnny Cash and Luke
Bryan. From their early life, their career, and how society views them, they have opened the minds of
people and country musicians all over the country. Johnny Cash s songs help people to experience his
life growing up through the Great Depression and how people lived back then. Through Luke Bryan s
songs people could understand what life was like for Luke growing up in Georgia and all the

This was a huge upset to Johnny. Especially since his father, Ray Cash, blamed Johnny for Jack s
death. In Edward Willet s The Man in Black he states, Ray told him bluntly that he should of died
rather than his faithful brother. This quote shows how his father made Johnny feel like it was his fault.
To try and deal with his emotions, he started to write. He really started to write how he was feeling. In
spite of this, the tragedy, his fathers accusation, and his own guilt had one positive outcome: it s what
made his creativity in his songs (Neimark 36). His early life growing up through the Great Depression
and all the hardships he faced, were really expressed in the songs that he wrote and performed for
people. This really let people have an inside look on what life was like for people back then.
Luke Bryan was born and raised in Leesburg, Georgia on July 17, 1976 ( Luke Bryan Biography ). His
childhood consisted of hunting, fishing, helping his father with his local business, and singing ( Luke
Bryan Biography ). Supporting his music talent, his family bought him a guitar when he was 14 years
old ( Artists: Luke Bryan ). When Luke and his mother would drive into town to shop, his mother
would encourage him to sing George Strait over and over ( Luke Bryan Biography ). By the age of 15
he started entertaining a small crowd at a local club ( Luke Bryan and Family ). He would go regularly
to sing at the club.

Plastic surgery is a massive thing. Not only does it change the way God made you, but there are also
things that could go wrong in the midst of everything, just like the lesions and surgery in Uglies.
Although acceptance is a hard things to have throughout life, we need to be comfortable in our own
skin and not worry as much about what others think but, rather what we think.
8.The story of Uglies and Harrison Bergeron both focus on broken societies. Like Uglies, Harrison
Bergeron tries to make the society equal but in doing this breaks it even more. the transmitter would

In the steps of making everyone equal, the government simple takes away the abilities that people had

in uglies. The society is willing to change their entire body in order to be pretty and more accepted.
People are willing to go through with things like this because, we only see the good sides of it, but
never the bad. All Tally ever wanted to do was to get the surgery. She saw the parties, the happiness

Emotional Disorders Summary
There is a substantial number of individuals who suffer from emotional and behavioral disorders and,
unfortunately, they tend to be the stigmatized by others. It is amazing how many of these individuals

issues of stigmatization on individuals with certain disorders and the authors share possible solutions
that one can appreciate. The authors recounted on the issue of stigmatization on those who suffer

suggestions focused on how one must be careful with the use of labels and fluctuating labels of the

While this may sound factual, some may consider this statement as an opinion. A possible solution

way to understand the label and will likely result in a long term solution of the problem of
stigmatization. They provided examples of the problem and suggested easy and reasonable solutions

My Memory Failures For Five Days Essay
Tracking my memory failures for five days was enlightening in a couple ways. First off, I realized that
there was a trend in my forgetting. The trend I noticed was that I forgot things most frequently when
they were not part of my daily routine or interrupted it. This is not surprising considering that much of
what we intend to do in our everyday lives involves habitual tasks repeated over time and when it
comes to these habitual tasks, our intentions may not be explicit (Dismukes,2012). Secondly, I
realized that some memory failures do not fit perfectly into memory failure categories, they do indeed
straddle the line (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014, p. 370). My data revealed the three most common
memory errors in my journal were prospective memory errors, episodic memory errors, and semantic
memory errors. On November 10th around 4:45 pm during my drive home I realized that I forgot to
call a specific client to tell them I had to reschedule an appointment for the next day. I think I forgot
this because I had realized that I needed to make the call right before lunch, and decided I would do it
after lunch. However, when I got back into the office, there were messages on my phone that I had to
return immediately. Therefore, this forgetting could be contributed to multitasking, since I was making
various phone calls, sending emails while on the phone, and both getting ready for lunch and settling
in after lunch when I forgot. This example is one of a prospective memory

Comparing Anton Chekhov s The Lady With The Dog
Anton Chekov s personal life shaped his writing immensely. The plotline of Chekov s story, The Lady
with the Dog is based on his life experiences. On the 25th of May in 1901, Chekov married his wife
Olga Knipper, a stage actress. Together they maintained a long distance relationship; Chekov was
living mainly in Yalta and Olga in Moscow as she continued to seek her acting career (Hingley).
While Chekov and Olga remained separated, they continued to uphold a stable marriage as they lived

starring two characters, Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna, whose lives were similar to both Chekov and

Chekov uses the color grey to evoke feelings of depression, sadness and loneliness. The color grey is
often affiliated with negative or dark moods. Chekov intended to utilize this color in major moments
and scenarios that take place during times of sorrow, and emotional dissatisfaction with Gurov s
current romantic state. However, grey is neither black nor white, but rather it is somewhere in

Journey Of Truth In John Cheever s The Swimmer
Journey of Truth The short story The Swimmer by John Cheever, is about a man s swimming journey
home after a long night of drinking. Cheever uses the man s journey home as a metaphor for the
journey of alcohol. Cheever shows the parallels between the man s journey home and the journey
alcohol takes a person in many ways. The main two are the way he feels after each new pool, and the
time that lapses on his journey. The first way Cheever uses to show the parallels, is the way the main
character feels after each pool. The man, in the beginning, is strong and energetic, feels good about his
life, and is looked up to by his friends. The man thinks of himself as a legendary figure (Cheever,
Pg1). As if there was nothing he could not do. As his journey progresses he changes. Physically, he
gets weaker, and is unable to pull himself out of the pool without the use of the pool ladder and is
unwilling to dive into the pool, as before. He goes from being warm to being chilled to the bone. The
man would also start feeling bad if he did not drink. A person who uses alcohol in a continuous
manner, and then tries to give up drinking for a prolonged amount of time, can go through
withdrawals from the alcohol. The reason that this shows parallels between the man s journey home
and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time in the beginning of the story went by slowly. Then, towards the middle of his journey home he
realizes that the leaves have started to change colors, and that it was getting cooler. The journey of
alcohol and the man s journey are tied together. When the man started his journey he was warm and
happy, and by the time the story ended the man was cold and miserable. So what Cheever is trying to
illustrate is that the man s journey started in the summer, and ended getting close to winter. This was
obtained by describing the seasons changing from summer to fall and then to

Cause And Effect Of Titanic
Introduction Iceberg right ahead! That one of the most unforgettable quotes from the movie, Titanic .
After seeing that movie for the first time I found the Titanic and her famous story, I found the Titanic
and very fascinating. Titanic is one of the greatest known maritime disasters in history to this day. She
was the grandest, most technologically advanced ship, and safest ship of her time. As you read this
report, you will be presented some effects Titanic had on things during her time period as well as in
the present that most people may not know about.
Body of Research During the time of her construction, Titanic was designed to be the largest,
grandest, safest, and most technologically advanced ship during her time. Her designers and engineers
set out to build a class of ocean liners that could compete against White Star Line s rival company,
Cunard. However, when Titanic, the second of her sister ships sunk on her maiden voyage, it shook
the world and it had a major impact on the world and its people. One of the main effects was the effect
on safety regulations. Titanic only carried enough lifeboats to sustain roughly half of the passengers
and crew on board. At the time, Titanic actually exceeded the amount of the lifeboats required by the
British Board of Trade regulations by 10 percent.
Although there was room on deck for twice as many lifeboats, the Titanic carried lifeboats for just
over half of the passengers and crew on board. The designer of the Titanic had allowed room on deck
for two rows of lifeboats, but one row was removed before the voyage began to make the deck more
aesthetically pleasing [Rogers and others, 1998]. With outdated British Board of Trade regulations, the
Titanic s twenty lifeboats actually exceeded requirements by 10 percent capacity [Refrigerator, 1998].
(Vicki Bassett, par. 21)
After Titanic s disaster, the new safety regulations required all ships to carry enough lifeboats to
sustain all of the passengers and crew aboard the ship. Moreover, the regulations also specify that the
lifeboats had to carry items such as oars, food, drinks, compasses, etc. Following the increase in
lifeboats, a mandatory use of wireless

authorizes the BLM to regulate the population of horses and burros to sustain a healthy environment

As of March 1, 2016, the BLM estimated a total amount of 67,027 wild horses and burros in all of the
western states. The BLM has recommended that the maximum population that the land can sustain is
26,715 (Gorey and Lutterman 1). The BLM must find ways to control the population because of the
crowding. According to Wild Horse Education Population control is a phrase used to describe the
methods that are utilized by the BLM to achieve what they term as Appropriate Management Level, or
AML ( Population Control 1). Appropriate management level is the amount of horses and burros that
can thrive in balance with other public land resources and uses. If left uncontrolled, Mother Nature
would regulate the population by disease, dehydration, and starvation. The population of the horses
would increase causing food to become scarce and the horses to starve. Not controlling the population
would be inhumane. The horses would suffer from starvation, causing a slow death. Private ranchers
obtain permits for their cattle to graze on BLM land which further affects the problem of scarcity of
food and water for all animals. The wild horse and burro population should be controlled using
humane methods

Competence in cross cultural communication and understanding cultural differences is becoming more
crucial in today s society. Technology is advancing in a rapid pace and is allowing more opportunities
in migration therefore existing countries has never had so much to do with each other until today. As a
result of becoming inter connected, global business is progressing rapidly. Majority of countries are
participating in global business transactions, international alliances and multinational joint ventures.
However, recent studies suggest that these organizations often find failure as a result of poor cross
cultural communication. Researches have analyzed the aspects of effective cross cultural
communication, how it affects business communication and why the communication is ineffective
when it is. According to Becker Bsat (2014), learning the skills of proper behavior on an international
level is one of the most important elements necessary for business success and growth. Chaney Martin
s (2007) analysis suggest that there is international business culture which defines acceptable behavior
and orientation in an international social and business setting. Although Beckers Bsat (2014) did not
title their research international business culture , their work aligns with Chaney and Martin s (2007)
claims. Beckers Bsat (2014) used the

Craig Crow Monologue
It all started the day I died. I think I should formally introduce myself, My name was Craig Crow and
I lived in Alabama on a corn farm with my wife and two beautiful twin sons. We lived in a house with
3 bedrooms and a very small crawl space in the attic. The barn was old with bright red paint and big
white sliding doors, we owned 2 horses, one for me and one for my son. The only way for us to get
into town was a small green beaten up pickup truck that had been passed down for generations. The
house had been passed down just like the truck had been and my whole family is buried here,
including my wife and I.

(Tacitus, p.68)
As well as being a strong source of information about political life during this time, the novel also
catalogues the struggles faced before and after marriage by Vespasians mistress, the freedwoman
Caenis. Their forbidden relationship is threatened as Vespasian reaches the height of his political
career. Caenis was but a footnote mentioned in history which Davies has sanctified into a wonder
woman without whom Vespasians career could not have possibly succeeded. This obvious
glorification of a story is an example of a bias used to make a tale more interesting, and the lack of
historical sources commenting on Caenis only proves that she is nowhere near as important as Davis
makes her out to be. Regardless, this novel achieves its aim as an interesting secondary source of
information on Imperial Rome from two totally different perspectives that of a slave and freedwoman,
and that of an emperor. It showcases very suitably both the social and political struggles which are
faced in upkeeping this unlikely relationship.
There are different viewpoints on the way slaves were treated in Imperial Rome. Caenis in the story is
first portrayed as a faithful and respectful slave, claiming I know how to keep my mouth shut, any

Conversion Hysteria
Sigmund Freud, neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis, was originally interested in the scientific
side of medicine and was especially intrigued by the brain. He attended medical school in Vienna with
the aspiration to become a medical researcher. From this he was offered a fellowship to study in Paris
with neurologist, Jean Charcot. Charcot treated Conversion Hysteria patients using hypnosis.
Conversion hysteria is a psychological disorder in which the patients experience physical symptoms
but have no evidence of any medical condition. Charcot believed that a traumatic event in someones
life could trigger an emotional response that caused these symptoms. Later, Freud returned to Vienna
and starting working with Josef Breuer, a physician who was treating hysterics. Breuer was somewhat

more credible. .One way she uses logos is when she said A couple of the boys took one end rope and

to the story since the story talks about blacks not being equal to whites, and the hangman s noose is

There is a different bag and package, including a lays chip bag, and a glue package combined into one that spell the word lazy . At the bottom of the advertisement there is a saying littering says a lot about you which implies that people who litter are lazy. The advertisement is meant to appeal to all people in todays society to stop littering. When looking at the advertisement, people might think it is clever and witty, while others might think it is rude and inappropriate to call someone lazy . I chose this advertisement as the artifact because I think it best includes all ethos, pathos, and logos. Pathos is being used the most in this advertisement because the company is grabbing the audiences attention by using feelings. Some people feel angry while looking at the advertisement because they don t want to be considered lazy if they drop a wrapper on the ground instead of in the trash. Some people feel sad while looking at the advertisement because they don t think there should even be an advertisement to tell people not to litter. The audience gets these feelings because the speaker, in this case the company, grabs the audiences attention by telling them they are lazy. Table 1 shows the general advantages and disadvantages of coprocessing. As shown in the table, if an excipient has certain limitation such as poor flowability and compressibility, coprocessing could be the solution to overcome this problem. On the other hand, coprocessed excipients ratio is fixed and can t be changed. Sometimes this ratio may be incompatible with the API or with the dose [2]. In general, coprocessing is carried out for one plastic and one brittle deforming excipient in order to minimize the elastic energy stored during compression and to decrease capping or lamination of the tablet, in addition, this combination is reflected positively on the compressibility of the powder. Coprocessed excipient use in direct compression tablet manufacturing process combines the advantages of wet granulation with the fast processing of direct compression[6]. As mentioned above, the ratio of initial excipients included in the coprocessed excipient is fixed, the particles of the excipient with the lower percentage can be processed on the surface or in the core of the other excipient. Even so the proletariats at the bathhouse still thrive to achieve their goals such as Lin who states I ve got to get out of this place. Some day I m getting on that train (Suzuki, Miyazaki, 2001). This shows that although the proletariats are disadvantaged in most aspects of life they still manage to dream and look toward the future. The Road to Becoming a Teacher Shayne McCormick Mr. Katz Senior Project Research Paper January 8, 2002 The Road to Becoming a Teacher Teachers bear the heavy responsibility of molding the minds of our nation s most precious resource, its children. The road to becoming a teacher is a long one, involving post high school education, people skills, and a desire to change lives. These traits, when accompanied by experience and good techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Before anything else, teachers must have a desire to impact the lives of their students (Education). Their day usually begins around 8 a.m. where they face the difficult task of waking up their tired students and getting them ready to learn. They must find interesting ways of presenting the subjects that students often find tedious (Princeton). Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help students understand the material (School Teachers). A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved in after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and projects, and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik). There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed and refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers). Even with the experience of the teacher training programs mentioned earlier, nothing can fully prepare a person to become a teacher. African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should be perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race was one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just three of the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors commented on these issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington, and Charles Chestnutt are three authors that share their views with their readers. Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his reader feelings. The customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another. Chestnutt leaves his readers with this dichotomy in his book. Chestnutt balances between Larsen and Washington s views. He makes his reader think though the reasons why or why not miscegenation should or should not be allowed. Sexuality was also an issue for Blacks in this time period. Most black women were classified as either a respectable, almost asexual, lady or a whore. They were classified as a mammy or a jezebel. There was a dichotomy between what women were allowed to be. Sexual desire needed to be separate from respectability. And respectability was highly prized. Larsen s character Helga struggles greatly with this dichotomy between sexual desire and respectability. It belongs to a protein family which includes p53, p63 and p73 and these are structurally and functionally related to each other. However, p53 seems to have evolved as a tumor suppressor in higher organisms, while p63 and p73 play a role in normal developmental biology (2). Structure of p53 P53 functions primarily as a transcription factor, and is biologically active as a homo tetramer comprising of 4 X 393 amino acid residues. Each monomer comprises of several functional domains: 1. An acidic N terminus transcription activating domain 1 and 2 (TAD1/2) This region interacts with various transcription factors 2. Proline rich region (PRR) This plays a role in p53 stability 3. Central DNA binding domain (DBD) required for binding to specific sites on the DNA. 4. Tetramerization domain (OD) required for the assembly of the functional tetramer. 5. Carboxyl terminus domain (CTD) which is bound to DNA binding domain and is involved in negative modulation of DNA binding domain. The central DNA binding domain is the most highly conserved region of p53, when compared to its other family members, p63 and p73. In 1833 the diplomatic tension between the United Kingdom and Argentina began over claims of the Falkland Islands, a remote island south of the Argentine. Mozi says to pay attention to the people of the Falkland Islands as well. If he wants sovereignty of the islands he has to make sure he wins their trust and loyalty. Mozi s philosophy argues that people in power should care for all people the same. Some people might argue and say that a leader should act above everyone else to be able to enforce the rules. But Mozi insists that President Macri must view the people of the Falkland Islands as if they were his own. A referendum held on the island in 2013 said 99.8% of the population wanted to remain the current situation of being an overseas territory under the control of the UK. Treating the islanders as his own people and not neglect them would help to avoid any type of rebellion. Machiavelli s solution could ensure that the UK would never interfere with Argentina and the Falkland Islands. But it would mean that they would have to relive another war that they could lose yet again. Mozi s plan is superior to Machiavelli s because it would mean President Macri would not be making the same mistakes as the former leaders. The film contains many remarkable scenes and cinematic techniques as well as innovations. Within this well known film, Orson Welles (director) portrays many stylistic features and fundamentals of cinematography. The scene of Charles Foster Kane and his wife, Susan, at Xanadu shows the dominance that Kane bears over people in general as well as Susan specifically. Opening the scene at Xanadu, Susan is seen sitting at the table working on a puzzle while Charles Kane is standing on a quarter turn. It is true that Guillemette has the advantage over the drapier in that she is at home and Pathelin is on her side against the drapier; but one would still assume that a crafty tradesman would be more quick witted than a simple housewife. Yet, as already noted above, Guillemette manages to completely outsmart and deceive the drapier, leaving him dumbfounded. In this scene, as in scenes I and III, Guillemette s cleverness is clear. So Guillemette comes across as more intelligent than the other main characters in the play; and, unlike them, she is not the victim of trickery. The result of this is that Guillemette is the character with whom the audience can identify with most closely. In a play such as the Farce, where there is no narrator, one of the characters often plays the role of an intermediary between the characters and the audience. False Perception Paper False Perception There are times when correlation between variables appears to present an obvious causal relationship, however, it is irresponsible for both researchers and the news media to produce predictions without looking for alternate factors. A good example is decades of reporting on the relationship between single mother households (independent variable) and rising crime rates (dependent variable). The preceding example was explored by Philip Cohen (2012) in his article on the single mom and murder rate relationship during the 1990s, in which he noted, I think single mothers especially those who were raising kids back in the 1990s deserve an apology from the conventional wisdom purveyors of that time (para. 2). The trend I noticed was that I forgot things most frequently when they were not part of my daily routine or interrupted it. This is not surprising considering that much of what we intend to do in our everyday lives involves habitual tasks repeated over time and when it comes to these habitual tasks, our intentions may not be explicit (Dismukes,2012). Secondly, I realized that some memory failures do not fit perfectly into memory failure categories, they do indeed straddle the line (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014, p. 370). My data revealed the three most common memory errors in my journal were prospective memory errors, episodic memory errors, and semantic memory errors. On November 10th around 4:45 pm during my drive home I realized that I forgot to call a specific client to tell them I had to reschedule an appointment for the next day. I think I forgot this because I had realized that I needed to make the call right before lunch, and decided I would do it after lunch. However, when I got back into the office, there were messages on my phone that I had to return immediately. Cheever uses the man s journey home as a metaphor for the journey of alcohol. Cheever shows the parallels between the man s journey home and the journey alcohol takes a person in many ways. The main two are the way he feels after each new pool, and the time that lapses on his journey. The first way Cheever uses to show the parallels, is the way the main character feels after each pool. The man, in the beginning, is strong and energetic, feels good about his life, and is looked up to by his friends. The man thinks of himself as a legendary figure (Cheever, Pg1). As if there was nothing he could not do. As his journey progresses he changes. Physically, he gets weaker, and is unable to pull himself out of the pool without the use of the pool ladder and is unwilling to dive into the pool, as before. He goes from being warm to being chilled to the bone. The man would also start feeling bad if he did not drink. Titanic is one of the greatest known maritime disasters in history to this day. She was the grandest, most technologically advanced ship, and safest ship of her time. As you read this report, you will be presented some effects Titanic had on things during her time period as well as in the present that most people may not know about. Body of Research During the time of her construction, Titanic was designed to be the largest, grandest, safest, and most technologically advanced ship during her time. Her designers and engineers set out to build a class of ocean liners that could compete against White Star Line s rival company, Cunard. However, when Titanic, the second of her sister ships sunk on her maiden voyage, it shook the world and it had a major impact on the world and its people. One of the main effects was the effect on safety regulations. Titanic only carried enough lifeboats to sustain roughly half of the passengers and crew on board. At the time, Titanic actually exceeded the amount of the lifeboats required by the British Board of Trade regulations by 10 percent. Although there was room on deck for twice as many lifeboats, the Titanic carried lifeboats for just over half of the passengers and crew on board. The designer of the Titanic had allowed room on deck for two rows of lifeboats, but one row was removed before the voyage began to make the deck more aesthetically pleasing [Rogers and others, 1998]. With outdated British Board of Trade regulations, the Titanic s twenty lifeboats actually exceeded requirements by 10 percent capacity [Refrigerator, 1998]. (Vicki Bassett, par. 21) After Titanic s disaster, the new safety regulations required all ships to carry enough lifeboats to sustain all of the passengers and crew aboard the ship. Moreover, the regulations also specify that the lifeboats had to carry items such as oars, food, drinks, compasses, etc. Following the increase in lifeboats, a mandatory use of wireless ... • 33. Craig Crow Monologue It all started the day I died. I think I should formally introduce myself, My name was Craig Crow and I lived in Alabama on a corn farm with my wife and two beautiful twin sons. We lived in a house with 3 bedrooms and a very small crawl space in the attic. The barn was old with bright red paint and big white sliding doors, we owned 2 horses, one for me and one for my son. The only way for us to get into town was a small green beaten up pickup truck that had been passed down for generations. The house had been passed down just like the truck had been and my whole family is buried here, including my wife and I. Before I say how I died, I ll tell you how it first started. One day I was in the barn with my two children, Leo and Larry. Leo was my favorite son. He was very skinny and had perfect curly red hair and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thanks dad I worked really hard on it! Leo sounded so happy. Larry however looked jealously at his brother, to the point where there was fire in his eyes and he started breathing really hard which sounded kind of nasty. What about my scarecrow dad? Larry said hopefully. Then I turned to Larry s scarecrow picked it up and threw it into the fire. I turned back to him and started to yell at him about how ugly it was and about how if he could do anything he might have his own room. While I was doing this he was crying like a baby, even though he was 7 and should be a man and start working out to get an 8 pack and big biceps. While we ate Larry spilled food all over Leo so I made him sleep on the steps in front of the house instead of having the privilege of sleeping in the cold drafty attic. Leo gave me kiss and went to his room. In the middle of the night when Larry was sure everyone was sleeping He slowly tiptoed inside to get a candle to find some biscuits. He tracked straw from his dirty feet throughout the house then he finally found. THE BISCUITS! YES! I FOUND THEM! I LOVE BISCUITS he screamed with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interaction between Political and Social Life in Ancient Imperial Rome The interaction between political and social life in Ancient Rome has been accurately portrayed in the well researched novel, The Course of Honour , by Lindsey Davies. However as this is a fictional novel told as an interesting story instead of fact, the information given must be corroborated with several primary sources to correct any inherent biases. Lindsey Davies is an author who specialises in writing about life in Ancient Rome. Her novels are famous for the detective work of Marcus Didius Falco, with books such as Last Act in Palmyra , Venus in Copper , A Dying Light in Corduba and The Iron Hands of Mars winning her the Sherlock Holmes Award for ... (Tacitus, p.68) As well as being a strong source of information about political life during this time, the novel also catalogues the struggles faced before and after marriage by Vespasians mistress, the freedwoman Caenis. Their forbidden relationship is threatened as Vespasian reaches the height of his political career. Caenis was but a footnote mentioned in history which Davies has sanctified into a wonder woman without whom Vespasians career could not have possibly succeeded. This obvious glorification of a story is an example of a bias used to make a tale more interesting, and the lack of historical sources commenting on Caenis only proves that she is nowhere near as important as Davis makes her out to be. Regardless, this novel achieves its aim as an interesting secondary source of information on Imperial Rome from two totally different perspectives that of a slave and freedwoman, and that of an emperor. It showcases very suitably both the social and political struggles which are faced in upkeeping this unlikely relationship. There are different viewpoints on the way slaves were treated in Imperial Rome. Caenis in the story is first portrayed as a faithful and respectful slave, claiming I know how to keep my mouth shut, any sensible slave does! Natalie s Comments In Not Ready To Make Nice Natalie s comments in her lyric Not Ready to Make Nice , reveals some of the impacts that her comments has on the members of her group and even her own self. One impact that Natalie s comments has on the band group is a personal one. An example of a personal impact being displayed is from the stanza, I ve paid a price, and I ll keep paying (Not Ready to Make Nice). That comment from Natalie shows a personal impact indirectly since that she, through the context of the poem, has been paying the price of battling her conscience between the two dilemmas of speaking out what is in her mind, or hiding it inside herself because of choosing between saying what comes from her mind, or not saying anything, in which some people want her not to express ... Similarly for the personal impact, they still have a dilemma with that impact as well in addition to Natalie having to experience social impacts because of some people not wanting her to speak her mind as stated when she replies, You think I should (Not Ready to Make Nice) to people who are saying to her figuratively, or literally to her not to speak what is from her conscience. Because of Natalie presenting her views to the public, the band yet again has to choose between losing popularity because of some people hating Natalies comments putting their hate on Natallie, and the people who support her, or ditch her and not lose their popularity because of some haters of Natallie s work. In addition to the social consequences having similar aspects to the repercussions from the personal impact of picking between dilemmas, the social impact also is one that is challenging not just a conscious decision that is going to affect their mind, but is going to affect their relationship with the public as ... Examples Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi In the memoir Coming of age in mississippi Anne Moody uses ethos and logos to make her memoir more credible. .One way she uses logos is when she said A couple of the boys took one end rope and made it into a hangman s noose. Several attempts were made to put it around our necks. This appeals to the story since the story talks about blacks not being equal to whites, and the hangman s noose is most likely about lynching. It really shows how cruel white people were back then. Another way she uses logos is when she uses the exact times of when this event occurred. For example To divert the attention from the sit in at Woolworth s,the picketing started at J. C Penney s a good 15 minutes before. The pickets were allowed to walk up and down ...
