In the US, expansion in the 1800s included the Louisiana Purchase and annexation of Texas, driven by the idea of Manifest Destiny. This displaced many Native Americans. The industrial revolution led to new technologies like railroads and factories, while scientific advances were made in fields such as medicine and physics.
