INTRODUCTION (DISCOVERY OF AMERICA):
 Americans get a day off work on October 12 to celebrate Columbus
Day.
 An annual holiday that commemorates the day on October 12, 1492
 A national holiday in the United States since 1937.
 He introduced the Americas to Western Europe during his four
voyages to the region between 1492 and 1502.
 Christopher Columbus made four expeditions to the New World,
which equipped the Spanish Catholic kings in the hope of opening a
shorter western route to trade with India.
COLONICAL PERIOD:
 The colonial history of the United States covers the history of
European colonization of America from the early 16th century.
 In the late 16th century, England, France, Castile, and the Dutch
Republic launched major colonization programs in America.
 Death rate was very high.
 No civil wars occurred in the thirteen colonies. The two chief
armed rebellions were short-lived failures in Virginia in
1676 and in New York in 1689–91.
 By 1760, France was defeated and its colonies were seized by
Britain.
COLONIAL PERIOD TIMELINE:
1565: St. Augustine is founded by the Spanish.
1607: Jamestown, the first permanent English colony in
North America, is established in Virginia.
1620: Pilgrims reach Plymouth, Massachusetts, aboard
the Mayflower; "Mayflower Compact" adopted.
1626: Manhattan Island sold by Indians to New Amsterdam
colony.
1638: Swedish settlers establish colony of New Sweden in
Delaware.
1681: William Penn receives charter for colony that
becomes Pennsylvania.
1692: Salem, Massachusetts, trials sentence 20 "witches" to
death.
1718: New Orleans founded by French.
1733: Georgia, last of original 13 colonies, founded by
James Oglethorpe.

 Road to Independence is an Empire: Total War
Campaign.
 Three chapters and a United States Campaign
 The United States Campaign takes place after the
American Revolution.
 The United States Campaign takes place after the
American Revolution, in 1750, 25% of people in America
are slaves.
FORMATION OF A NATIONAL
GOVERNMENT
“Every man and every body of men on earth, possess the right of self - government”
FORMATION OF A NATIONAL GOVERNMENT
(1783 TO 1787)
 In 1783 the treaty of Paris acknowledge the victory of American
republic over the British empire.
 In 1784 , virginals formally ceded the calms north of the Ohio
river
 The land ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the united states
congress of the confederation.
 In august 1786, revolutionary war veteran Danial shay’s led an
armed rebellion in Springfield.
 The constitution was written and signed in 1787 it was a charter
of government that came to be ratified by the states.
WORLD WAR 2 (1939-1945)
• In 1930 Proposed a New Deal to end the Great
Depression.
• US drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki.
• World war 2 over in 1945.
WOMEN DEVELOPMENT
 In 1966 Friedan's establish (NOW).
 Women right to vote.
 In US many state and federal laws pass for
women.
COLD WAR (1947-1990)
 US promote democracy through out the world.
 Rivalry between US and RUSSIA.
 Example

CONFLICT WITHIN THE US:
 United States was large country in 1850 full of contrast.
 In 1819, Missouri asked to become a state.
 Several Northern though slavery was wrong.
 Abraham Lincoln he agreed that south keep its slaves.
CIVIL WAR
 Civil war began in 1861.
 Civil War was also known, ended in Confederate
surrender in 1865.
 2.4 million Soldiers killed, millions more injured
and much of the South left in ruin.
WORLD WAR 1
 The Great War, began in 1914
 Credit to new military technologies and the horrors
of trench warfare.
 On July 28, Austria-Hungary declared war on
Serbia.
THE GREAT DEPRESSION:
 In 1930s worldwide economic depression took place.
 It was the longest, deepest, and most widespread
depression of the 20th century.
 By 1933 the Great Depression reached its lowest
point.
CULTURAL CHANGE ( 1959- 1980)
AND MARTIN LUTHER KING
• Some Americans began to have easier lives. Families
moved from the cities where they could purchase
larger homes.
• Martin Luther king Jr was social activist.
• voting rights for African Americans.
• He played a great role in civil right movement.

COLONICAL PERIOD:  The colonial history of the United States covers the history of European colonization of America from the early 16th century.  In the late 16th century, England, France, Castile, and the Dutch Republic launched major colonization programs in America.  Death rate was very high.  No civil wars occurred in the thirteen colonies. The two chief armed rebellions were short-lived failures in Virginia in 1676 and in New York in 1689–91.  By 1760, France was defeated and its colonies were seized by Britain.

  • 12. CONFLICT WITHIN THE US:  United States was large country in 1850 full of contrast.  In 1819, Missouri asked to become a state.  Several Northern though slavery was wrong.  Abraham Lincoln he agreed that south keep its slaves.
  • 13. CIVIL WAR  Civil war began in 1861.  Civil War was also known, ended in Confederate surrender in 1865.  2.4 million Soldiers killed, millions more injured and much of the South left in ruin.
  • 14. WORLD WAR 1  The Great War, began in 1914  Credit to new military technologies and the horrors of trench warfare.  On July 28, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.
  • 15. THE GREAT DEPRESSION:  In 1930s worldwide economic depression took place.  It was the longest, deepest, and most widespread depression of the 20th century.  By 1933 the Great Depression reached its lowest point.
  • 16. CULTURAL CHANGE ( 1959- 1980) AND MARTIN LUTHER KING • Some Americans began to have easier lives. Families moved from the cities where they could purchase larger homes. • Martin Luther king Jr was social activist. • voting rights for African Americans. • He played a great role in civil right movement.
