Crafting an essay on the topic of "What Is Argument Essay" can be a challenging task, as it
requires a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in constructing a compelling argument.
The difficulty lies not only in defining the concept but also in effectively conveying the nuances
of argumentation and persuasion.
To begin with, one must delve into the theoretical foundations of argumentation, exploring
various types of arguments, logical fallacies, and rhetorical strategies. This demands a thorough
analysis and synthesis of information, as well as the ability to critically evaluate different
perspectives on the matter.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent and well-organized essay necessitates a clear thesis
statement that encapsulates the essence of an argument essay. Developing a persuasive argument
involves marshaling evidence, citing relevant sources, and presenting a compelling case that not

Navigating through the complexities of language and rhetoric is another facet of the challenge. A

Eastland Disaster Case Study
Chicago is a world famous city, well known for its architecture, culture, and
attractions. For all that it was thriving in the early 1900s, there were a few setbacks
and unfortunate incidences, one of those being the Eastland Disaster of 1915.
Unfortunately, this has never gotten the remembrance it deserves because this ship
consisted of the working class, whereas a ship such as the Titanic consisted of all
three classes, and those who were remembered belonged to the first class.
The Eastland was a ship built in 1903. Its daily schedule was commuting for the
Michigan Steamship Company, travelling 77 miles between Chicago and South
Haven, Michigan. The basic service was a round trip on which the company s largest
vessel left Chicago mid morning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the passengers were loading onto the ship, it began swaying from side to side.
They were all oblivious to the imminent danger until things went wrong all at once.
Dishes slipped off shelves, a piano slid across the floor, and a refrigerator fell over
with a resounding crash that was heard throughout the ship. The passengers then
realized that they were in danger, and they attempted to escape while in a state of
panic. Those that had gathered on the port side of the Eastland were the ones that
were pretty much doomed to death. When the ship rolled into the river it rolled to
the port side. All those people within seconds found themselves in the bottom of
the ship being buried by hundreds of other people (Eastland). While they did get
help rather quickly, many of the passengers were already overboard and struggling to
keep themselves above water. Many people either drowned immediately, or they
suffocated in the middle of a myriad of bodies in the water. The ship was only a few
feet from the wharf, where a large crowd of horrified spectators watched, and it was
in only 20 feet of water. That, however, was deep enough to drown 844 people who
were trapped or trampled below decks
Self Regulated Learning
Self Regulated Learning
Learning is what most adults will do for a living in the 21st century. (Alfred
Perlman). As he said, there is no doubt that learning is a very important skill
especially in modern society because of the knowledge explosion and rapid
developing of information technology. However, there are different results with
different learning methods. Good learning method can lead to success easier, on the
contrary, poor learning method means wasting time and energy. Therefor, self
regulated learning is presented by numerous eminent scholars as a excellent learning
method. Self regulated learning is not a mental ability or an academic performance
skill; rather it is the self directive process by which learners ... Show more content on

And many researches have proved that learning strategies can help students be more
successful. Pei Shi. W(2012) has found that most successful students use learning
strategies more frequently and effectively than unsuccessful students. We can explain
the research in this way. A learning strategy is a student s approach to learning and
using information. However students who do not know or use good learning
strategies often learn passively and ultimately fail at study. Learning strategies are
used by students to help them understand information and solve problems. Successful
students are good much good at using it, meanwhile, learning strategy can make the
students be more active and effective, because the students know how to learn and
how to use what they have learned to solve problems, and lead them to success.
At last, motivation is another important component of self regulated learning to help
students be more successful in their academic endeavors. Motivation in common is
defined as an internal process that activates, guides, and maintains behavior over time.
In other words motivation gets you going, keeps you going, and determines where
you re trying to go (Slavin 2000). Particular in self regulated learning, motivation is
the sprint to encourage students to drive their academic goals toward the finish line
directly, the sprint is initiative and voluntary. Motivation can help students

Astrology Of Alchemy
Originating in ancient Egypt, Alchemy is one of the two oldest sciences that are
known in the world, besides astrology. It can be described as a process in which we
shift from our essential state of unconsciousness, go through plenty alchemical stages
portrayed by our most elemental experiences, to the understanding of full awakening,
or enlightenment. Alchemy is a an operation that goes around from cycle to cycle,
repeating over and over again to transform and alter us through the experiences of our
body, soul, and spirit. In alchemical terminology, this is called the Opus, or Great
Work. The larger state of consciousness and our self understanding that results
includes recognition of our connection to the spirit world and consciousness of the

Western Alchemy goes all the way back to the start of the Hellenistic period which
lasted between 300 BC 300 AD. One of the earliest, legit alchemists is Zosimos of
Panopolis in Egypt, who lived around the end of the period. Zosimos provided us with
one of the first definitions of alchemy as the study of the composition of waters,
movement, growth, embodying and disembodying, drawing the spirits from the
bodies and bonding the spirits within the bodies. (Mendeleyev s Dream the Quest for
Elements). Born in Akhmim,Egypt, Zosimos is one of the 40 authors represented in
a compendium of alchemical texts that were thought to be put together in
Constantinople around the 7th or 8th century AD. They were found existing in
manuscripts in Venice and Paris. The latest author, Synesius, lived in Byzantium
(constantinople) around the 4th century. The earliest author assigned is Pseudo
Democritus(not to be confused with Democritus the greek philosopher),often
referred to as Bolos of Mendes. Bolos was a hellenized Egyptian who lived in the

Pokemon Candies and Eggs While Walking with Your Buddy Pokemon
The Pokemon Go Buddy System is the best update yet. Niantic told fans to expect
more from the game, and this latest feature is just one of the many to watch out for.
The new system will allow you to choose any Pokemon in your collection as your
buddy that will accompany you as you go in search for Pokemon and will also
appear next to you, behind you, perched on your shoulder, or flying alongside you in
the avatar screen. A Buddy Pokemon is categorized as medium, shoulder, big and
flying.
The Buddy system gives you in game rewards, such as a candy for walking certain
distances with your Pokemon buddy. But what makes it really exciting is that the
distance and time to earn candies is measured in the same way for hatching eggs. For
many players, this makes a great replacement for the tracking system that has been
removed, and what they have been waiting for to get an update.
Its effect is threefold:
It helps players to find specific Pokemon in the wild.
Introduces a new way of evolving Pokemon.
Provides an extra incentive that will re ignite the waning interest of players, what
with a guarantee that a walk with your buddy will yield a candy.

In contrast, the lack of economic growth in the poorest countries of the world has
meant that living conditions for hundreds of millions of people are appalling by
the standards of rich countries; per capita income levels in many 21st century
countries are much lower than they were in 19th century. To understand why the
human race has become so much wealthier and why our wealth is shared so
inequitably among the inhabitants of the world, we need to understand what drives
economic growth. What is Economic Growth? An increase in the capacity of an
economy to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to
another. Economic growth can be measured in nominal terms, which include
inflation, or in real terms, which are adjusted for inflation. For comparing one
country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita should be used as
these take into account population differences between countries. Economic growths
is an increase in what an economy can produce if it is using all its scarce resources.
An increase in an economy s productive potential can be shown by an outward shift
in the economy s production possibility frontier. A country s economic growth is
usually indicated by an increase in that country s gross
The Criminal Justice System Law Enforcement Agencies
The Criminal Justice System works to enforce laws within the legislative, judicial,
and executive branches of the government. To insure the criminal justice agencies are
organized and functioning, it is typically divided into three main components. The
three main components are law enforcement agencies, court agencies, and
correctional agencies (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Law enforcement agencies are in charge
of thoroughly investigating the crimes and detaining suspects (Siegel Worrall, 2015).
Court agencies are within the court system in which handles all charges, indictments,
trials, and sentences (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Correctional agencies are in charge of the
next step after the suspect is convicted such as monitoring, treating, and rehabilitating
(Siegel Worrall, 2015).
The law enforcement agency is the first step in the criminal justice system. There job
is to formally maintain order and enforce laws (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Police officers
work hard to enforce traffic laws, prevent criminal behavior, keep alcohol and drug
use under control, provide emergency services, and control any conflicts. They are
also in charge of finding a probable cause to detain a suspect.
The second step is the court agency. The court agency comes in once the criminal is
arrested where they are booked and processed. Following the booking process, the
criminal is given a court date. The suspect will be found guilty or not guilty in a
court of law. The court includes the
Essay on Mccarthyism
Vivian Gonzalez Mr. Martinez Ramos A.P. United States History May 3, 2000
McCarthyism was one of the saddest events of American history. It destroyed people
s lives and shattered many families. It threw innocent people into a whirlwind of
mass confusion and fictional portrayals of their lives. McCarthyism spawned for the
country s new found terror of Communism known as the red scare. McCarthyism was
an extreme version of the red scare, a scare whose ends did not justify the means.
The Red Scare happened twice in the history of this great country. When the
communist took over Russia in 1919, the American peoplewere unnerved. They were
afraid of a communist take over in the states. When the First World War ended in
1918, there was still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
127) Fear is the most primal instinct. It causes people to do and act in certain ways in
which they are not accustomed. It can turn brother against brother, neighbor against
neighbor, politician against politician, and country against country. Fear instigates
panic. It was that panic that prompted the Palmer Raids. The Palmer Raids were
started by A. Mitchel Palmer. He felt that in order to keep the American values in
tact communism had to be out of the picture. Palmer believed that communism was
amp;quot;eating its way into the American workman amp;quot;. He thought it was
the root of all evils in his society. Palmer felt that communism was
amp;quot;seeking to replace marriage vows with libertine laws, burning up the
foundations of society amp;quot;. In December of 1919, in their most famous act,
Palmer s agents seized 249 resident aliens. Those seized were placed on board a
ship, the Buford, bound for the Soviet Union. Deportees included Emma Goldman
the feminist, anarchist and writer who later recalled the deportation in her
autobiography. Another reason for the Red Scare was the strike held by mine
workers. They were thought to be making threatening moves against the Capitalist
system through subversive Socialist organizations. These strikes were part of a series
of events taking place in 1919. This strike,
Bertram Poem
Can a single person consider Bertram Potts (Pottsie) to be totally masculine in his
physical appearance as well as his social behaviors? Looking at Bertram as a
masculine figure can be difficult to see based on the fact that he is indeed feminine in
his mannerisms. Yes, physically he is an attractive young man who takes on
masculinityin his physical features, but he is naturally required to borrow from
masculinity. Bertram is supposed to be masculine, but he is instead seen as
feminine. In all ways he is seen to be based in the feminine domestics sphere, and
tends to be feminine over all. Bertram must borrow from masculinity as well or he
must become more conventionally masculine if he is to earn the love of Sugarpuss
O Shea and defeat Lilac and his gangsters. Compared to the masculinity and self
confidence shown by the mob boss himself, Joe Lilac, and the free spirited and very
experienced Sugarpuss O Shea, Bertram behavior is seen as a feminine mish mash of
bookishness, inexperience, and motherly love, given his isolation within the domestic
sphere.
Correspondingly, according to the Week One Recap, gendercan be seen as
dichotomous, which means gender is divided into either feminine or masculine. For
instance, the gender of Bertram is indeed viewed as being dichotomous, because his
gender is split into feminine and masculine when analyzed throughout the movie.
However, when viewing gender women are seen as staying at home within their
domestic sphere tending to others needs at home, potentially they are caregivers or
teachers. Additionally, men are out working in the public sphere making money and
are not seen within the domestic sphere. In reference of Handout IV, Certain actions
and certain aspects of personality are thought to be either feminine or masculine. It is
conventionally feminine, for instance, to think in terms of our relationships with
others. It is masculine, by contrast, to think in terms of our independence. In contrast,
Bertram conforms to femininity, he is pleased about staying within his domestic
sphere doing his research. He is not one to go out into the public sphere and work,
he feels most comfortable within his own domestic sphere. Bertram is also seen as a
caregiver and
Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Analysis
Percy Jackson: The Lightning Theme
Intro: Rick Riordan s fantasy novels, The Lightning Thief, and The Sea of
Monsters , take place in a mythological world where the main character Percy
Jackson is thrown into a new life of danger and adventure. In a world where the
greek gods are real, and so are their many children, a person may feel like they do
not belong. But for a person to truly find out where they belong, they must first find
out who they really are as a person.
Body I: Rick Riordan uses a special type of author s craft in the beginning of this
story to help grab the reader s attention and get them thinking about how the book
connects to them. On the first page of the book, Rick uses 2nd person and suspense
to help convey Percy s personality, and his views of the new world of greek
mythology he was thrown into. In this world, gods have children with mortals, and
they are called Half Bloods , half god, half mortal. In the first paragraph of the
book, Percy seems to not love how dangerous and deadly his new life is, saying I
didn t want to be a half blood and Don t say I didn t warn you (Riordan 1). Rick
Riordan uses this method to grab the reader s attention in the beginning of the
story, and keep the reader guessing on what will happen next. Also, Riordan uses
2nd person as a way to relate the theme of the story to the reader on a personal level,
telling the reader Believe what ever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth,

Definition Of Professionalism And Professionalism

PROFESSIONALISM
Definition
My definition of professionalism is a person that carries themselves in a respectful
manner. The professional is educated, has a clean appearance, well spoken, and
treats others with respect and integrity. When a person is not professional it reflects
poorly on the company. I have experienced unprofessional behavior quite often. I
have seen nurses, and other medical professionals, act unprofessional. I will share a
story of a very unprofessional situation. This situation put me in a position where I
had to make a moral and legal decision and take the appropriate action. Two nurse
aids were bathing a man that was in a coma. He had a penal implant from having
prostate cancer. The implant was a pump. While bathing him the girls pumped his
penis up, took pictures and sent the pictures to my phone along with derogatory
remarks. The girls thought this was funny. I did not. I thought it was extremely
unprofessional, and degrading to that patient. The girls were my friends, so the
decision I had to make was not easy. I went to my nurse manager and took the
appropriate action and steps. The girls did lose their jobs. I did feel bad for them, but
I felt worse for that man. I had to do what was right.
Importance of Professional Behavior Professional behavior is important in the
nursing profession because of the long road it took for nurses to be recognized as a
profession and
How Did Lenin Come To Power
Lenin thought the idea of a revolution, and the planning of it was effortless and
simple to carry on. He believed the attack had to be made in three key places,
including Petrograd, Moscow and Baltic Fleet. He believed the Petrograd soldiers
were able to obtain the Winter Palace, the General Staff Building and other important
buildings adding that this would cause Alexander Kerensky to surrender.
Notwithstanding, the BolshevikCentral Committee did not accept his ideas, leading to
an ultimatum sent by Lenin, in which he resigned to the Committee, and stated that
he would have the right to issue propaganda to those other members of the party.

down,in November 6th the Red Guards, first took main points in the city of
Petrograd . Not many people were killed in the process. In November 8, the soldiers
decided to take the Winter Palace. Here the Provisional Government surrendered and
were captured and arrested.Lenin then gave a speech, revealing his own self and
announcing that the government he was creating.
On November 7th the Red Guards continued on taking important buildings in
Petrograd that included the telephone and telegram buildings, as well as the power
buildings. Then, they decided to get to the Winter Palace, the place where the
provisional Government met and the old home of the czar. Nevertheless, the Palace
was left in charge of the Women s Battalion. The sign received by the Red Guards
to attack the Palace was a shell fired a naval ship named Aurora . The taking over did
not last, even though there were 1000 rooms in the place and caused the government

The Blockbuster Model
In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual
spectacle of film, one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which
genre operates. During our class discussions we learned that genre acts as a living
organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre like virtually any story, can be examined
in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot, setting, and character (Schatz
21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states that genrefilm
incorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated,
intensified, and resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). We can recognize and
distinguish particular genres through the analysis of the evolution of genre.... Show

Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we
can argue that they carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously
unknown sub genres. Filmmakers are able to explore the possibilities within a
certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has never been explored prior. For
instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have seen it develop
into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the
traditional characteristics of a comedy film and combine it with other
characteristics, which then transform it into a sub genre. One example of this is
the military comedy sub genre. While many people may consider the topic of war
to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre that incorporates comedic
tropes in order to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One could
describe the characteristics of a military comedy as a film that incorporates the
characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely shared attitudes towards
war, such as being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding genre is
critical to understanding how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help
us easily identify and analyze films in a much greater detail. This ability to identify
and analyze speaks to the larger understanding of cinema itself. Cinema is constantly
reaching new milestones. A comprehensive understanding
Imperialism In Ngugi Wa ThiongO s The River Between
In the book The River Between, Ngugi wa Thiong o details of the division of an
African community, home to the Gikuyu people, the arrival of the white
missionaries, and the destruction of traditional African life by European imperialism.
Throughout the book, Ngugi wa Thiong o uses events that transpire to address real
life events that are taking place during this time period in Africadue to European
imperialism. He uses Waiyaki and the other characters in the book to explain the
change that occurs in African societies and the conflict that imperialism creates.
Ngugi wa Thiong o s The River Between addresses conflicts that African societies
face as a result of European imperialism and the arrival of the white missionaries,
which ultimately changes the layout and of entire communities. In The River
Between, Ngugi wa Thiong o uses Waiyaki s story to address conflicts that occur in
these African societies, such as the invasion of white missionaries, the internal
conflicts of the tribe, and European imperialism as a whole. In the book, there is
division among the Gikuyu people when the white missionaries invade their lands.
The tribe becomes split into two villages: Komeno, where the traditional community

the converts to Christianityreside. The biggest divide between these two groups is the
traditionof circumcision. In the Gikuyu community of Komeno, the tradition has

Penokee Hills In Northern Wisconsin
Wisconsin has a long tradition of being at the forefront of environmental protection.
From having pristine national forests, clear water, and tough environmental
regulations to keep our forests pristine and water clear. Now, in the 21st Century,
Wisconsin is losing that right due to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Walker is a
big proponent for a mine in the Penokee Hills. The Penokee Hills are located in
Northern Wisconsin, in Iron County, just south of the Bad River Band of Lake
SuperiorOjibwe Reservation. This mine would have been an iron mine, one of the
world s largest open pit mine. The problem with this mine is it would have destroyed
most of the Penokee Hills, the environment around it, and polluted everything around
it, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine
would have given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of
getting iron ore from taconite pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be
heated up, one element that is given off during the heating process is Mercury (WI
DNR, 2003, 22 25). When Mercury is in it s gaseous form, it enters the water cycle
and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is released as
precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of
Northern Wisconsin, this acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed,
one of the biggest tributaries of Lake Superior, which would be polluted from the
Mercury. Pollution of Lake Superior would be devastating. Lake Superior is the
world s largest freshwater lake and it s water flows through the Great Lakes, down
the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of which would be polluted.
Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion of cities
located right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and
Cloquet in Minnesota, Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder
Bay in Canada just to name a few (Lake by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is
Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major parts of taconite mine runoff. Sulfate does the
same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water right away instead of being in acid
rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013, iv). Sulfate directly ran
off into watersheds creates more problems than if it were just in acid rain. In the
Bad River Watershed, wild rice is a prominent crop grown in the water for the
Ojibwe. That runoff can form Sulfide, and it has been shown in Minnesota to be
toxic to wild rice, helping destroy a means of income for so many people ( Wild Rice
Sulfate, 2014, 5 6).
My Career Choice
My Career Choice I have decided to become a criminal lawyer because I want to
improve the world by putting criminals in jail and defending people who are being
falsely accused. I have wanted to be this for a long time, but just to be sure I have
taken several career quizzes and found that this is the career best suited for me.
This will take a lot of dedication and hard work but I feel that this will be
something I will enjoy doing for the rest of my life ( or until I retire.) My School
To become a lawyer you need four years undergraduate and three years law school.
There is no specific undergraduate that will prepare you for being a lawyer but the
best ones to take are ones that deal with stress and problem solving such as political
science, english, economics, business, philosophy, and journalism. The college I
have chosen to attend is UNC at Chapel Hill because they have a great law program
and they are relatively near the house my family will be living in at that time. Also,
as a student you can attend the basketball games for free and I have always been a
huge fan of their team. When I go here I will have a major of political science and a
minor of business. I will choose this because political science is relevant to the
subject matter and business will be useful if I want to start my own law office. While
in college I will not live in a dorm room, but in a nearby apartment where I can have
my own space and maybe even a dog! After this I will go on to law

South Africa s New Secrecy Bill Putting Country s...
South Africa is recognised internationally as a country passionate about upholding
its democracy. Last year however, the National Assembly decided to pass a
condemned Secrecy Bill, two days prior to Freedom Day, despite citizen s
disapprovals. Was the event a mere coincidence or is our country s democracy at
stake?
The Secrecy Bill, formally known as the Protection of State Information Act, was
introduced to replace the apartheid era legislation. It is supposedly an improved
legislation which serves to protect sensitive or classified state information against
unnecessary disclosure and destruction. It has been noted by the media and even
President Jacob Zuma himself that the Bill has some grey areas where national
interest remains too vague a reason for keeping information classified.
Furthermore, the Secrecy Bill restricts the media s access to government information,
offering hefty jail sentences to those who leak the secrets withheld by government. Is
that a procedure to protect the state of corruption in our country, or is it to protect the
State itself?
As far as I am concerned, the Secrecy Bill acts against our constitutional rights. The
South African Constitution states that: Everyone has the right of access to any
information held by the state. Along with this, the Bill acts against the right to
freedom of speech, as the media can no longer publish articles freely. This means that
journalists will no longer be able to investigate issues of fraud, theft and
The Cow-Personal Narrative
It was a cold dark night full of howling winds. It was almost my time to go check
the heifers, I dreaded the thought of having to cope with the cold sharp snow
filled wind that soon to bear upon me. I knew I would have to leave soon for I had
seen something problematic ahead. I knew exactly what this trip was going to
entail and it wasn t going to be fun. I put my gear on and slowly started for the
door. As I emerged from my place of cover I felt the pain of the cold shudder
through my body. I climbed into the ranger and moved toward the bottom of the
canyon. The drifts were now about three feet in size. As I slowly made my rounds
looking for any clue for which cow would calve next. Finally, I saw the cow I had
been looking for. Her tag read 783 red. I had seen her when she emerged at the other
end of the herd which was grouped up in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I approached the head of the trees I automatically saw a calf on the ground. The
cow had him out of the wind by a grove of trees. I left them alone and continued on
my route, I had spotted a couple more cows that were very close to calving. After
finishing checking the rest I returned back to the previous cow who had claved. As
I moved closer to her, she became very skeptical and started to give off some bad
body language. I knew that as soon as I stepped out of the ranger she would be
there waiting for me. I couldn t leave the calf. I opened my door and she waited
suspiciously, as I came closer she turned and ran back from her calf. This was my
chance, I grabbed the calf and threw it up on my shoulders. The calf let out a long
bellow, the cow turned and charged me. I was almost to the ranger as she was right
behind me, so I ran around the ranger and jumped in the back with the calf. She hit
the ranger and stopped. I took a chance and jumped out the other side and got into
the ranger before she could make it to the other side. I drove off before she could hit
the ranger

Environmental Effects Of Coral Reef Bleaching
Coral Reefs have a huge role in our environment, even though they only make up
less than one percent of the oceans ecosystems. They provide shelter for twenty five
percent of marine species, protect shorelines, support fishing industries, provide
money from tourism, and could help scientists discover the next, big, medical
breakthrough. They are so biodiverse, they are referred to as the Tropical
Rainforests of the Oceans . Coralreefs are found in shallow circumtropical waters
along the shore of continents. Corals live in waters that have poor nutrition and they
have certain tolerance levels to water temperature, salinity, UV radiation, opacity, and
nutrient quantities.
All these wonderful benefits of coral reefs are at risk from coral reef bleaching.
Bleaching is bad for the coral because the endosymbiotic algae have a crucial role in
the survival of coral. They provide energy in photosynthate. Bleaching is the
lessening of zooxanthellate invertebrates. When the zooxanthellae are expelled, the
tissues turn white. It generally happens when water is too warm, even though other
things can provoke bleaching.
Climate change is thought to play a role in increased events of coral bleaching
around the world. It can lead to the extinction of many coral species. Climate change
could also cause major reef tracts destruction. Coral reef bleaching events have been
increasing in the past twenty years worldwide. Bleaching is caused by various human
activities and variations in the
Traditional And Distance Learning Programs
In this age of advance technology most information received is online. People in
today s society must keep up with the demands of delivering and receiving
information at a fast pace.
The advent of technology has brought a change in the varied echelons of life, as is
evident through the rise of e commerce and social networking. We have become
accustom to the convenience of socializing, working, and learning online. Both
traditional and distance learning programs provide eminence education. However,
there is much controversy surrounding the quality of education received through
distance verses traditional learning. By evaluating the differences and similarities
between distance and traditional methods of education, we can determine ... Show

Hannay and Newvine note that while the concept of distance learning, or rather on
line learning has popularized in the present days, the concept is not alien to the
education community, as is evident from the vast history of correspondence
education (Hannay and Newvine, 2006, p. 7). However, times have changed;
regardless if the education community is onboard today s learner demands an
education that offers convenience, flexibility, and courses available for career
advancements.
Distance education offers more convenience for the adult learner than traditional
schools. As more job advancement opportunities require a certification, a wider
age demographics enter the classroom and need to address their individual
concerns and expectations. A distance learning course, as opposed to a traditional
learning course provides flexibility, ease of learning while working, and reduced
cost advantage to the learners (Hassenburg, 2009). Furthermore a distance learning
course provides a learner, an option to alter their skill set and learning lesson as per
their personalized needs, and provide a sense of autonomy to the student. Many adult
learners have children and work full time jobs. The last thing an adult learner wants
to do is to fight
Luxury In Australia
If you are planning a special holiday and fancy a bit of pampering and luxury then
you can find some fantastic places here in Australia.
This article aims to tell you about a few of the best luxury experiences as well as
five star accommodation ideas. There really is lots to choose from in this fantastic
country.
These are my top 3 recommendations for experiencing luxury in Australia:
1) Hayman Island, The Whitsundays
Just off the coast of Queensland, the Whitsundays are a collection of islands that offer
arguably the best beaches in Australia. If you want to stay at the best, then head to
Hayman Island. They even have their own boat that takes you from the airport
directly to Hayman. The journey over there is magnificent in itself, helped slightly by
the continuous flow of champagne. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2. What size orders would you schedule on the CNC drill? On the CNC router?
Time taken to process the orders depends on the selected drilling method either
a) Manual drilling or CNC OR b) Using CNC Drill
Assumption 1: Manual Drilling is not done on all the available Manual Drill Presses
in parallel.
Calculating time taken for Manual drilling and CNC Drilling:
= Setup Time + Run Time (Per Hole) * No. of Holes drilled on each circuit board *
No. of boards
Time taken for Manual drilling =15 + 0.08*500*xwhere x= number of circuit boards
Time taken for CNC drilling = 240 + 0.004*500*x where x= number of ... Show more

of Boards (n) Parallel Process allowed Manual Drill 6 n ≤ 56 No Parallel
Processing CNC Drill n 56 CNC Drill
What Size orders can be scheduled on CNC Router?
Using the steps used in previous part, calculating the time taken by each method
Time taken for Punch Press =50 + x Time taken for CNC Router = 150+ 0.5x
To figure out whether CNC Router to be used,
50 + x ≥ 150+ 0.5x Hence x ≥ 200. [x= number of circuit boards]
Conclusion for CNC Router:n 200 Use Punch Press
Total no. of Boards (n) n 200 For Use CNC Router
3. Would you recommend adding another CNC drill? Perform a net present value
calculation to help make the decision. Price of the CNC machine is $80,000. The
additional assumption we need to add to assumption already given is that:
Arthur Dief will run all the small orders (8 circuit boards or less) and other boards
will be done on a CNC machine despite of the shop floor policy which states that
only orders for more than 100 boards be drilled on a CNC machine.
The company is currently using a CNC machine for orders for equal or greater than
140 boards due to capacity of a CNC machine; however, they would be able to
process all orders with CNC machines if they add one more machine.
In this case, if we calculate the current cost in drilling process:
Serial Killers And The Killers
Serial Killers Serials killers can be defined in different ways, depending on who you
ask. If you ask me, I think a serial killer is someone who has killed more than a
couple people. If you ask someone else more than likely you will get a different
definition. But what really is the definition of a serial killer? According to Zoe
McKnight Serial murders usually refer to two or more murders at different places
and times with a cooling off period in between, rather than several unrelated
murders, or a killing spree (McKnight). So basically the real definition of a serial
killer is someone who has killed at least two people with some time in between the
murders. Rather than a killing spree which would be killing person after person.
That would be a mass murderer. What I find really interesting about serial killers is
how they choose their victims or why they choose the people they do,
characteristics of the killer s victims and what serial killers have in common with
other serial killers, and more importantly why they actually kill people, and what
happens to them once they get caught. The majority of serial killers are men, and
they mainly target women. Women have danger blind spots that prevent them from
recognizing when and how they might be at risk (Richard Rys). Meaning that if a
handsome guy walks up to a woman, the woman won t think much about it. No one
goes around thinking that every person that talks to them or that they talk to is going
to be a killer. Most
The Cost Of Bubble Tea
With the bubble tea industry on the rise, people are expecting more in terms of the
drink quality, atmosphere, and cost efficiency. Bubble tea fanatics are able to tell
difference between the use of powder and freshly made milk tea. The environment
needs to be modern and a place to relax with friends. Cost is always going to be
important.
One of the things highlighted was the taste of the bubble tea. People who love their
bubble tea, can always tell difference between the use of powder and freshly brewed
milk tea. Using fresh ingredients rather than powder, will be key in providing a
world class experience. People expect quality and authenticity, rather than cheap stuff
that you could probably make on your own. Using fresh fruits for fruit

Pb lead!!!
Pb in urban soil
In soil, Pb is relatively immobile and remains in the surface horizon for many years
(tВЅ ~ 700yrs; Semiali et al 2004). Characteristically, Pb concentrations are highest
in roadside soil and in proportion to historical traffic flows, although over the year
soil re suspension is believed to have widened its distribution to give a city wide
distribution.
Soil Pb in many cities with a history Pb gasoline use, show similar distributions with
the heavily trafficked inner areas having the highest concentrations and decreasing
concentrations towards the outer parts of a city (Laidlaw and Fillippelli 2008).
Across England, urban areas typically have higher soil background concentrations
of Pb than the surrounding countryside; Ander et al 2013 suggested an overall
mean of 820 mg kg 1 for urban areas as against 180 mg kg 1 for the countryside. A
recent high density geochemical soil survey of the Greater London Area (GLA;
BGS 2011) showed that the inner central region of the oldest and most intensely
urbanized and industrial areas, about 25% of the GLA area, typically have
concentrations 346 mg kg 1; this value is greater than the proposed new
contaminated land category four screening levels for residential land and allotment
land use (CL4SL 2014).

Roadside soils are subjected to turbulence as vehicles pass by, and roadside dust
emissions are related to vehicle speed (exponentially), traffic volumes and
Document Images Are Acquired By Scanning Journal
Document images are acquired by scanning journal, printed document, degraded
document images, handwritten historical document, and book cover etc. The text
may appear in a virtually unlimited number of fonts, style, alignment, size, shapes,
colors, etc. Extraction of text from text document images and from complex color
background is difficult due to complexity of the background and mix up of colors of
fore ground text with colors of background. In this section, we present the main ideas
and details of the proposed algorithm. Implementation of any system needs the study
of features, it may be symbolic, numerical or both. An example of a symbolic feature
is color; an example of numerical feature is weight. Features may also result from
applying a text extraction algorithm or operator to the input data. The related
problems of feature selection and feature extraction must be addressed at the outset of
any text recognition system design. The key is to choose and to extract features that
are computationally feasible and reduce the problem data into a manageable amount
of information without discarding valuable information. Different methods used for
text extraction from document images (as shown in fig. 1) include: A.Feature
Extraction Feature extraction involves the extracting the meaningful information
from the document image. The features are classified in to Global features and Local
features. Features that are extracted from whole image are known as the global

Electronic Surveillance And Its Historical Context
The first part of this paper framed FISA in its historical context. The 1978 Act
initially enacted dealt only with electronic surveillance. It provided a statutory
framework for collection of foreign intelligence information through the use of
electronic surveillance of communications of foreign powers or agents of foreign
powers. However, the Congress amended the act in 1995 and 1999 to provide a
statutory framework for gathering foreign intelligence information through the use
of electronic surveillance, physical searches, pen registers or trap and trace
devices, access to business records and other tangible things. In sum, FISA grants
broader authority than the Crime Control Act, but under a narrower range of
circumstances. To limit the abuse of the Executive power that led to its passage,
FISA also established the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courts (FISC). The
FISC requires the government to submit an application to obtain a surveillance
warrant to a specially appointed FISA judge. Moreover, since the FISA warrant is
secret, the government in order to benefit from this higher level of secrecy bears a
burden of showing that there is probable cause to believe the target is a foreign
power and that the targeted information relates to the ability of the United States to
protect against spying or terrorism. However, to address changing circumstances after
the terrorist attacks of September 911, Congress has repeatedly amended FISA to
adapt to the fight against

televisions for any type of collegiate athletic event. Between the winning buzzer
beater shots to the large rivalry games that remind people of their love for college

(NCAA) brings in billions of dollars yearly through their respected institutions. As
collegiate sports have dominated the American entertainment industry, the question of
paying these athletes is ever growing in today s society. While the argument has
persisted over the last few decades, paying college athletes may be one of the most
controversial topics surrounding the NCAA to date. Collegiate athletes that are under

occurred on a Monday night. This Monday night happened to be Florida State s

the first two days of the spring semester, which seem to be the most important. To
argue that education is always put first it is absolutely incorrect. If education was the
priority, the National Championship would not be played on a Monday night,
subjecting almost ninety athletes to already start their next semester off behind
every other student. During away week games, athletes can miss anywhere from 36

Gun Controls And Gun Control
Americans are faced with a big issue of violence in the streets, these streets where
elderly people are beaten for their money and women are attacked and raped. Sadly,
some people believe that the best way to deal with these violent occurrences is to
pass gun control laws that take away legally owned guns from everyone. Not only
does gun control end up disarming the innocent but it also violates the Second
Amendment. By taking away guns from the American citizens, whom the Second
Amendment bestowed onto us this act violates our rights. Unfortunately for those
who have legally armed themselves for self defense, gun control would eventually
strip away their ability to fend for themselves. Gun control will also end up causing
a rise in crime. By taking away arms from good law abiding citizens and leaving
them defenseless, it makes things much easier for criminals by knowing that their
victims are not armed. Although the gun ban would take away guns from stores, a
criminal will find a way to get their hands on one, imagine that. Gun controls are
taking away our rights as citizens. If a law abiding citizen happens to enjoy
hunting, they will lose that right. Gun controls are also taking away weapons from
citizens. Gun control is not having a positive effect on America because it violates
the second amendment, takes away rights and it won t reduce the crime rate. A well

Advantages Of Zoos
Animals are everywhere. Even if you don t notice them, they are there. Animals are
very popular and one of the reasons why they are beloved is because of zoos. Zoos
are great places for animals to live and a great place for people to learn. Zoos allow
kids and adults to explore the little world of creatures that live a similar life. Zoos are
a lot safer placefor the animals to live than the woodsor the public. People destroy
animals habitats and wipe out their health. When people leave trash by animals
habitats the animals think that it is a special food delivery and try to eat your trash,
now that can cause health problems for the port little animals now do you want that,
probably not. and neither do zoos so that s one of the reasons why zoos are here in
the present.
Zoos are very effective in some ways and they aren t in other ways, but zoos affect
people and you probably don t think it s going to make any difference if zoos just go

What Is Reinforcement Theory
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF RESEARCH
According to Skinner s reinforcement theory or just reinforcement theory, published
by Management Mania is one of the theories focusing on human motivation. The
reinforcement theory does not used to personality but it is focuses to behaviour.
Reinforcement theory was published by American social philosopher, psychologist
and behaviourist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1957. A theory of a biological theory of
reinforcement (Glickman Stephen, Psychological Review, Vol 74(2), Mar 1967, 81
109) suggests that reinforcement evolved as a mechanism to insure ordinary human
being that have the appropriate stimuli. In addition, according to Educational
Psychology in 2014 that the idea of reinforcement also means ... Show more content

Skinner, or more properly, Burrhus Frederic Skinner, is one of the most widely
known psychologists of the 20th century. Skinner s in 1948 stated, in which
learning was facilitated by applying his theory in daily life of humans.
Reinforcement is simply defined as the effect of a reinforcer (Lefrancois, 2006).
Some issues concerning the control of human behaviour on his research, studies and
beliefs of learning. Skinner s write, science will increasing our power to be more
influence, change, and control human behaviour (p. 1057). Other than that, in the
other article, Skinner wrote that any list of values or things is a list of reinforcement
in conditioned or unconditioned (p. 1064). We can understand that values in our
surrounding create behaviour that will affect the behaviour in terms of
reinforcement. Based on (PsycINFO, Conger John J, Quarterly Journal of Studies on
Alcohol, Vol 17, 1956, 296 305) reinforcement theory is explanation of rewards
behaviour, even in the case of the man is apparently punished by such behaviour.
Stated by Skinner s, reinforces typically change the types of a respons and it can only
be considered reinforces when it immediately connected to the behaviour. Skinner
believed that we do have simply more productive to study observable behaviour that
happened rather than internal behaviour events in such of mind. Skinner also believed
that the best way to understand behaviour is to look at the causes of an action and its
consequences based on the environment. Last but not least, reinforcement can then be
broken down into positive and negative
Disadvantages Of Internet Marketing
Over the years internet marketing has grown drastically. Gone are the days when
online marketing was only meant for big companies because of the technical aspect
of the internet. Nowadays even newbies can engage in internet marketing. Many
people prefer to research on the internet for products and services they may need
before making their decision to purchase them. Research is mainly done in social
media and through the phone. Public relations have also been enhanced via the
internet in which reviews of various products are given and feedback from customers.
Advantages Гј Cost effective
It costs less to market products on the internet rather than physical in an outlet. In
addition, you may decide to purchase your stock, keep them in a warehouse and
when required deliver to the customers. In terms of cost, as a seller you may decide
to purchase stock when they are on demand to prevent loss. Гј Convenient
If you have an online store, it will be open 24hours a day and customers can order
round the clock. A physical outlet is limiting because of the fixed opening and closing
hours. Customers also get to browse products they need anywhere without needing to
walk around searching for the product in different shops. If the stock has ended the
customer can check another time without feeling pissed off. Due to revolution of
internet marketing, most online store owners offer delivery services. Гј Fewer

  • 2. Eastland Disaster Case Study Chicago is a world famous city, well known for its architecture, culture, and attractions. For all that it was thriving in the early 1900s, there were a few setbacks and unfortunate incidences, one of those being the Eastland Disaster of 1915. Unfortunately, this has never gotten the remembrance it deserves because this ship consisted of the working class, whereas a ship such as the Titanic consisted of all three classes, and those who were remembered belonged to the first class. The Eastland was a ship built in 1903. Its daily schedule was commuting for the Michigan Steamship Company, travelling 77 miles between Chicago and South Haven, Michigan. The basic service was a round trip on which the company s largest vessel left Chicago mid morning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the passengers were loading onto the ship, it began swaying from side to side. They were all oblivious to the imminent danger until things went wrong all at once. Dishes slipped off shelves, a piano slid across the floor, and a refrigerator fell over with a resounding crash that was heard throughout the ship. The passengers then realized that they were in danger, and they attempted to escape while in a state of panic. Those that had gathered on the port side of the Eastland were the ones that were pretty much doomed to death. When the ship rolled into the river it rolled to the port side. All those people within seconds found themselves in the bottom of the ship being buried by hundreds of other people (Eastland). While they did get help rather quickly, many of the passengers were already overboard and struggling to keep themselves above water. Many people either drowned immediately, or they suffocated in the middle of a myriad of bodies in the water. The ship was only a few feet from the wharf, where a large crowd of horrified spectators watched, and it was in only 20 feet of water. That, however, was deep enough to drown 844 people who were trapped or trampled below decks

And many researches have proved that learning strategies can help students be more successful. Pei Shi. W(2012) has found that most successful students use learning strategies more frequently and effectively than unsuccessful students. We can explain the research in this way. A learning strategy is a student s approach to learning and using information. However students who do not know or use good learning strategies often learn passively and ultimately fail at study. Learning strategies are used by students to help them understand information and solve problems. Successful students are good much good at using it, meanwhile, learning strategy can make the students be more active and effective, because the students know how to learn and how to use what they have learned to solve problems, and lead them to success. At last, motivation is another important component of self regulated learning to help students be more successful in their academic endeavors. Motivation in common is defined as an internal process that activates, guides, and maintains behavior over time. McCarthyism spawned for the country s new found terror of Communism known as the red scare. McCarthyism was an extreme version of the red scare, a scare whose ends did not justify the means. It causes people to do and act in certain ways in which they are not accustomed. It can turn brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor, politician against politician, and country against country. Fear instigates panic. It was that panic that prompted the Palmer Raids. The Palmer Raids were started by A. Mitchel Palmer. He felt that in order to keep the American values in tact communism had to be out of the picture. Palmer believed that communism was amp;quot;eating its way into the American workman amp;quot;. He thought it was the root of all evils in his society. Palmer felt that communism was amp;quot;seeking to replace marriage vows with libertine laws, burning up the foundations of society amp;quot;. In December of 1919, in their most famous act, Palmer s agents seized 249 resident aliens. Those seized were placed on board a ship, the Buford, bound for the Soviet Union. Deportees included Emma Goldman the feminist, anarchist and writer who later recalled the deportation in her autobiography. Another reason for the Red Scare was the strike held by mine workers. They were thought to be making threatening moves against the Capitalist system through subversive Socialist organizations. These strikes were part of a series of events taking place in 1919. This strike,
  • 10. Bertram Poem Can a single person consider Bertram Potts (Pottsie) to be totally masculine in his physical appearance as well as his social behaviors? Looking at Bertram as a masculine figure can be difficult to see based on the fact that he is indeed feminine in his mannerisms. Yes, physically he is an attractive young man who takes on masculinityin his physical features, but he is naturally required to borrow from masculinity. Bertram is supposed to be masculine, but he is instead seen as feminine. In all ways he is seen to be based in the feminine domestics sphere, and tends to be feminine over all. Bertram must borrow from masculinity as well or he must become more conventionally masculine if he is to earn the love of Sugarpuss O Shea and defeat Lilac and his gangsters. Compared to the masculinity and self confidence shown by the mob boss himself, Joe Lilac, and the free spirited and very experienced Sugarpuss O Shea, Bertram behavior is seen as a feminine mish mash of bookishness, inexperience, and motherly love, given his isolation within the domestic sphere. Correspondingly, according to the Week One Recap, gendercan be seen as dichotomous, which means gender is divided into either feminine or masculine. For instance, the gender of Bertram is indeed viewed as being dichotomous, because his gender is split into feminine and masculine when analyzed throughout the movie. However, when viewing gender women are seen as staying at home within their domestic sphere tending to others needs at home, potentially they are caregivers or teachers. Additionally, men are out working in the public sphere making money and are not seen within the domestic sphere. In reference of Handout IV, Certain actions and certain aspects of personality are thought to be either feminine or masculine. It is conventionally feminine, for instance, to think in terms of our relationships with others. It is masculine, by contrast, to think in terms of our independence. In contrast, Bertram conforms to femininity, he is pleased about staying within his domestic sphere doing his research. He is not one to go out into the public sphere and work, he feels most comfortable within his own domestic sphere. Bertram is also seen as a caregiver and

Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Analysis Percy Jackson: The Lightning Theme Intro: Rick Riordan s fantasy novels, The Lightning Thief, and The Sea of Monsters , take place in a mythological world where the main character Percy Jackson is thrown into a new life of danger and adventure. In a world where the greek gods are real, and so are their many children, a person may feel like they do not belong. But for a person to truly find out where they belong, they must first find out who they really are as a person. Body I: Rick Riordan uses a special type of author s craft in the beginning of this story to help grab the reader s attention and get them thinking about how the book connects to them. On the first page of the book, Rick uses 2nd person and suspense to help convey Percy s personality, and his views of the new world of greek mythology he was thrown into. In this world, gods have children with mortals, and they are called Half Bloods , half god, half mortal. In the first paragraph of the book, Percy seems to not love how dangerous and deadly his new life is, saying I didn t want to be a half blood and Don t say I didn t warn you (Riordan 1). Rick Riordan uses this method to grab the reader s attention in the beginning of the story, and keep the reader guessing on what will happen next. Also, Riordan uses 2nd person as a way to relate the theme of the story to the reader on a personal level, telling the reader Believe what ever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal

Definition Of Professionalism And Professionalism Professionalism Chanda Hutton Baker College Flint PROFESSIONALISM Definition My definition of professionalism is a person that carries themselves in a respectful manner. The professional is educated, has a clean appearance, well spoken, and treats others with respect and integrity. When a person is not professional it reflects poorly on the company. I have experienced unprofessional behavior quite often. I have seen nurses, and other medical professionals, act unprofessional. I will share a story of a very unprofessional situation. This situation put me in a position where I had to make a moral and legal decision and take the appropriate action. Two nurse aids were bathing a man that was in a coma. He had a penal implant from having prostate cancer. The implant was a pump. While bathing him the girls pumped his penis up, took pictures and sent the pictures to my phone along with derogatory remarks. The girls thought this was funny. I did not. I thought it was extremely unprofessional, and degrading to that patient. The girls were my friends, so the decision I had to make was not easy. I went to my nurse manager and took the appropriate action and steps. The girls did lose their jobs. I did feel bad for them, but I felt worse for that man. I had to do what was right. Importance of Professional Behavior Professional behavior is important in the nursing profession because of the long road it took for nurses to be recognized as a profession and

  • 14. The Blockbuster Model In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual spectacle of film, one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which genre operates. During our class discussions we learned that genre acts as a living organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre like virtually any story, can be examined in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot, setting, and character (Schatz 21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states that genrefilm incorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated, intensified, and resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). We can recognize and distinguish particular genres through the analysis of the evolution of genre.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we can argue that they carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously unknown sub genres. Filmmakers are able to explore the possibilities within a certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has never been explored prior. For instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have seen it develop into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the traditional characteristics of a comedy film and combine it with other characteristics, which then transform it into a sub genre. One example of this is the military comedy sub genre. While many people may consider the topic of war to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre that incorporates comedic tropes in order to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One could describe the characteristics of a military comedy as a film that incorporates the characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely shared attitudes towards war, such as being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding genre is critical to understanding how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help us easily identify and analyze films in a much greater detail. This ability to identify and analyze speaks to the larger understanding of cinema itself. Cinema is constantly reaching new milestones. A comprehensive understanding

From having pristine national forests, clear water, and tough environmental regulations to keep our forests pristine and water clear. Now, in the 21st Century, Wisconsin is losing that right due to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Walker is a big proponent for a mine in the Penokee Hills. The Penokee Hills are located in Northern Wisconsin, in Iron County, just south of the Bad River Band of Lake SuperiorOjibwe Reservation. This mine would have been an iron mine, one of the world s largest open pit mine. The problem with this mine is it would have destroyed most of the Penokee Hills, the environment around it, and polluted everything around it, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One consequence on the environment would have been from the pollutants the mine would have given off. One of these pollutants would be Mercury. In the process of getting iron ore from taconite pellets, which is what is mined, the taconite must be heated up, one element that is given off during the heating process is Mercury (WI DNR, 2003, 22 25). When Mercury is in it s gaseous form, it enters the water cycle and helps form acid rain (WI DNR, 2003). When the acid rain is released as precipitation, it enters the waterways and pollutes the waters. In the case of Northern Wisconsin, this acid rain would help pollute the Bad River Watershed, one of the biggest tributaries of Lake Superior, which would be polluted from the Mercury. Pollution of Lake Superior would be devastating. Lake Superior is the world s largest freshwater lake and it s water flows through the Great Lakes, down the St. Lawrence River, and into the Atlantic Ocean, all of which would be polluted. Also, Lake Superior is a huge source of drinking water for a huge portion of cities located right on the lake including Ashland and Superior in Wisconsin, Duluth and Cloquet in Minnesota, Sault St. Marie and Marquette in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay in Canada just to name a few (Lake by Lake, 2003). Another major pollutant is Sulfate. Sulfate is one of the major parts of taconite mine runoff. Sulfate does the same as Mercury except it is mixed in the water right away instead of being in acid rain, though it is a component to acid rain (WI DNR, 2013, iv). Sulfate directly ran off into watersheds creates more problems than if it were just in acid rain. In the Bad River Watershed, wild rice is a prominent crop grown in the water for the Ojibwe. That runoff can form Sulfide, and it has been shown in Minnesota to be toxic to wild rice, helping destroy a means of income for so many people ( Wild Rice Sulfate, 2014, 5 6).

Last year however, the National Assembly decided to pass a condemned Secrecy Bill, two days prior to Freedom Day, despite citizen s disapprovals. Was the event a mere coincidence or is our country s democracy at stake? The Secrecy Bill, formally known as the Protection of State Information Act, was introduced to replace the apartheid era legislation. It is supposedly an improved legislation which serves to protect sensitive or classified state information against unnecessary disclosure and destruction. It has been noted by the media and even President Jacob Zuma himself that the Bill has some grey areas where national interest remains too vague a reason for keeping information classified. Furthermore, the Secrecy Bill restricts the media s access to government information, offering hefty jail sentences to those who leak the secrets withheld by government. Is that a procedure to protect the state of corruption in our country, or is it to protect the State itself? As far as I am concerned, the Secrecy Bill acts against our constitutional rights. The South African Constitution states that: Everyone has the right of access to any information held by the state. Along with this, the Bill acts against the right to freedom of speech, as the media can no longer publish articles freely. This means that journalists will no longer be able to investigate issues of fraud, theft and

  • 27. Serial Killers And The Killers Serial Killers Serials killers can be defined in different ways, depending on who you ask. If you ask me, I think a serial killer is someone who has killed more than a couple people. If you ask someone else more than likely you will get a different definition. But what really is the definition of a serial killer? According to Zoe McKnight Serial murders usually refer to two or more murders at different places and times with a cooling off period in between, rather than several unrelated murders, or a killing spree (McKnight). So basically the real definition of a serial killer is someone who has killed at least two people with some time in between the murders. Rather than a killing spree which would be killing person after person. That would be a mass murderer. What I find really interesting about serial killers is how they choose their victims or why they choose the people they do, characteristics of the killer s victims and what serial killers have in common with other serial killers, and more importantly why they actually kill people, and what happens to them once they get caught. The majority of serial killers are men, and they mainly target women. Women have danger blind spots that prevent them from recognizing when and how they might be at risk (Richard Rys). Meaning that if a handsome guy walks up to a woman, the woman won t think much about it. No one goes around thinking that every person that talks to them or that they talk to is going to be a killer. Document Images Are Acquired By Scanning Journal Document images are acquired by scanning journal, printed document, degraded document images, handwritten historical document, and book cover etc. The text may appear in a virtually unlimited number of fonts, style, alignment, size, shapes, colors, etc. Extraction of text from text document images and from complex color background is difficult due to complexity of the background and mix up of colors of fore ground text with colors of background. In this section, we present the main ideas and details of the proposed algorithm. Implementation of any system needs the study of features, it may be symbolic, numerical or both. An example of a symbolic feature is color; an example of numerical feature is weight. Features may also result from applying a text extraction algorithm or operator to the input data. The related problems of feature selection and feature extraction must be addressed at the outset of any text recognition system design. The key is to choose and to extract features that are computationally feasible and reduce the problem data into a manageable amount of information without discarding valuable information. Different methods used for text extraction from document images (as shown in fig. 1) include: A.Feature Extraction Feature extraction involves the extracting the meaningful information from the document image. The features are classified in to Global features and Local features. Features that are extracted from whole image are known as the global features
  • 32. Electronic Surveillance And Its Historical Context The first part of this paper framed FISA in its historical context. The 1978 Act initially enacted dealt only with electronic surveillance. It provided a statutory framework for collection of foreign intelligence information through the use of electronic surveillance of communications of foreign powers or agents of foreign powers. However, the Congress amended the act in 1995 and 1999 to provide a statutory framework for gathering foreign intelligence information through the use of electronic surveillance, physical searches, pen registers or trap and trace devices, access to business records and other tangible things. In sum, FISA grants broader authority than the Crime Control Act, but under a narrower range of circumstances. To limit the abuse of the Executive power that led to its passage, FISA also established the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courts (FISC). The FISC requires the government to submit an application to obtain a surveillance warrant to a specially appointed FISA judge. Moreover, since the FISA warrant is secret, the government in order to benefit from this higher level of secrecy bears a burden of showing that there is probable cause to believe the target is a foreign power and that the targeted information relates to the ability of the United States to protect against spying or terrorism. However, to address changing circumstances after the terrorist attacks of September 911, Congress has repeatedly amended FISA to adapt to the fight against

(2005) applied basic approach Six Sigma methodology which includes Process feasibility study, Process planning, Process preparation, Trial production run and Process quantification. Using this basic approach a new process design was developed for compressor housing machining process. During the process panning phase the Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) method is widely used. Due to large number of Key process input variables (KPIV) it becomes difficult to use FMEA method. To overcome this problem tools like Process mapping and Cause and effect matrix were applied to reduce number of KPIV to minimum. With this methodology a new process was developed using new approach. Comparison of old and modified process flow map had shown that time spent in developing modified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Six Sigma methodology was applied to single assembly line in order to achieve Six Sigma levels of quality by trimming down defect level those are crucial to customers. Implementation of Six Sigma methodology helps to improve levels of overall customers satisfaction through improvements made to the working environment. Discussing the case of implementation the authors in the end concluded that to implement such projects in SMEs, the top management must designate dedicated trained personnel as team members who further provide trainings to workers included in the project in a hierarchical manner. This type of program can be named as Internal Training Methodology (ITM), it also helps SMEs in saving monetary which in case to be paid to consultancies for massive training programs. This type of approach helps organizations to develop new Six Sigma projects step by step. This type of program helps in render savings and upgrade staff for higher belt levels and then increase the pace of implementation in a phased
  • 34. Brief Description Of A Study Design 3.1 Brief description of study design The specimens were cut in slices every 4 mm and are directly marked by a pathologist. MRI images were manually independently delineated by 2 radiologists and CHOL PET images were both manually delineated by 2 nuclear physicians and by automatic contours using SUV of 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%. All delineated images are stacked using landmarks from SPACE MRI as a reference. One with the best match with pathological slices will be the most accurate. There are no other specific requirements or information to be collected from patients. No unethical or unrealistic demands are noted. All patients might receive extra radiation due to this research. No extra benefits is yet determined from these CHOL PET imaging in the study, however considering their age it would not affect their quality of life as much as younger generations. Data obtained could be used for further research and benefit future patients. 3.2 Design Bias: Apart from sample bias, Article addressed possible influences of contour correlation apart from imaging modalities. All possible factors were compared and assessed independently. Positive correlations with the result DSC were found in prostatectomy Gleason score and relative pathological tumor volume. Tumor configuration type IV and transition zone type IV were found to have significantly less DSC than any other 3 types, which all had relatively similar DSC values. Use of linear models showed the most influential factors are

Between the winning buzzer beater shots to the large rivalry games that remind people of their love for college sports, it should be no surprise that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) brings in billions of dollars yearly through their respected institutions. As collegiate sports have dominated the American entertainment industry, the question of paying these athletes is ever growing in today s society. While the argument has persisted over the last few decades, paying college athletes may be one of the most controversial topics surrounding the NCAA to date. Collegiate athletes that are under ... This Monday night happened to be Florida State s first day of the spring semester. So, all 85 players that traveled to this game missed the first two days of the spring semester, which seem to be the most important. To argue that education is always put first it is absolutely incorrect. If education was the priority, the National Championship would not be played on a Monday night, subjecting almost ninety athletes to already start their next semester off behind every other student. During away week games, athletes can miss anywhere from 36 48 hours just traveling from game to game (Isidore 729). So clearly the education is not the higher purpose in the eyes of any division

  • 37. Gun Controls And Gun Control Americans are faced with a big issue of violence in the streets, these streets where elderly people are beaten for their money and women are attacked and raped. Sadly, some people believe that the best way to deal with these violent occurrences is to pass gun control laws that take away legally owned guns from everyone. Not only does gun control end up disarming the innocent but it also violates the Second Amendment. By taking away guns from the American citizens, whom the Second Amendment bestowed onto us this act violates our rights. Unfortunately for those who have legally armed themselves for self defense, gun control would eventually strip away their ability to fend for themselves. Gun control will also end up causing a rise in crime. By taking away arms from good law abiding citizens and leaving them defenseless, it makes things much easier for criminals by knowing that their victims are not armed. Although the gun ban would take away guns from stores, a criminal will find a way to get their hands on one, imagine that. Gun controls are taking away our rights as citizens. If a law abiding citizen happens to enjoy hunting, they will lose that right. Gun controls are also taking away weapons from citizens. Gun control is not having a positive effect on America because it violates the second amendment, takes away rights and it won t reduce the crime rate. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear

Zoos are great places for animals to live and a great place for people to learn. Zoos allow kids and adults to explore the little world of creatures that live a similar life. Zoos are a lot safer placefor the animals to live than the woodsor the public. People destroy animals habitats and wipe out their health. When people leave trash by animals habitats the animals think that it is a special food delivery and try to eat your trash, now that can cause health problems for the port little animals now do you want that, probably not. and neither do zoos so that s one of the reasons why zoos are here in the present. • 40. What Is Reinforcement Theory INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND OF RESEARCH According to Skinner s reinforcement theory or just reinforcement theory, published by Management Mania is one of the theories focusing on human motivation. The reinforcement theory does not used to personality but it is focuses to behaviour. Reinforcement theory was published by American social philosopher, psychologist and behaviourist Burrhus Frederic Skinner in 1957. A theory of a biological theory of reinforcement (Glickman Stephen, Psychological Review, Vol 74(2), Mar 1967, 81 109) suggests that reinforcement evolved as a mechanism to insure ordinary human being that have the appropriate stimuli. Skinner, or more properly, Burrhus Frederic Skinner, is one of the most widely known psychologists of the 20th century. Skinner s in 1948 stated, in which learning was facilitated by applying his theory in daily life of humans. Reinforcement is simply defined as the effect of a reinforcer (Lefrancois, 2006). Some issues concerning the control of human behaviour on his research, studies and beliefs of learning. Skinner s write, science will increasing our power to be more influence, change, and control human behaviour (p. 1057). Other than that, in the other article, Skinner wrote that any list of values or things is a list of reinforcement in conditioned or unconditioned (p. 1064). We can understand that values in our surrounding create behaviour that will affect the behaviour in terms of reinforcement. Based on (PsycINFO, Conger John J, Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol, Vol 17, 1956, 296 305) reinforcement theory is explanation of rewards behaviour, even in the case of the man is apparently punished by such behaviour. Stated by Skinner s, reinforces typically change the types of a respons and it can only be considered reinforces when it immediately connected to the behaviour. Skinner believed that we do have simply more productive to study observable behaviour that happened rather than internal behaviour events in such of mind. Skinner also believed that the best way to understand behaviour is to look at the causes of an action and its consequences based on the environment. Last but not least, reinforcement can then be broken down into positive and negative
  • 41. Disadvantages Of Internet Marketing Over the years internet marketing has grown drastically. Gone are the days when online marketing was only meant for big companies because of the technical aspect of the internet. Nowadays even newbies can engage in internet marketing. Many people prefer to research on the internet for products and services they may need before making their decision to purchase them. Research is mainly done in social media and through the phone. Public relations have also been enhanced via the internet in which reviews of various products are given and feedback from customers. Advantages Гј Cost effective It costs less to market products on the internet rather than physical in an outlet. In addition, you may decide to purchase your stock, keep them in a warehouse and when required deliver to the customers. In terms of cost, as a seller you may decide to purchase stock when they are on demand to prevent loss. Гј Convenient If you have an online store, it will be open 24hours a day and customers can order round the clock. A physical outlet is limiting because of the fixed opening and closing hours.
