THE EFFECT OF MACRO ECONOMIC POLICY ON NIGERIAN ECONOMICS
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
ABSTRACT
This research work focus on the appraisal of Macroeconomic Policy on Inflation in
Nigerian Economy, also to determine how it enhances the growth of Nigerian
Economy.
The aim of this research work is to look into challenges and numbers of hypothesis
were drawn. Information necessary to address the test of hypothesis was gathered
through secondary data, source from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Economic analysis was used to formulate the three (3) models that were stated in this
research work. Multiple regressions were also used to test the appraisal of

Although, there two policies are independent tools of economics stabilization, they
are often combined by most countries for a greater effect on the economy.
Monetary and Fiscal policies as adopted in Nigeria have four broad objectives. The
objectives include:В¬
Maintenance of relative stability in domestic price
Attainment of a high and sustainable rate of economic development
Maintenance of balance of payment equilibrium growth and stability are so closely
related that the economic policy o the government should include both of them.
Economic growth may be judges from the growth it total output of the economy as

The New World Of Death
I lie against the decrepit, rickety floorboards of our ship. I lie barely awake. The
profuse thoughts that previously encircled me brought a weariness upon me.
Bound by a profusion of apprehension and pity, all my comrades and I set out on
this day for our homeland. I do not perceive Ithaca as being far away physically,
albeit the mental endeavour seems as if it will carry into eternity, or until the end
of the world. As if it cannot exist anymore, and reality becomes only a speck in a
vast world of death. As if a whirlpool of thought, emotion, and sound are suddenly
whisked away into a small funnel and absorbed elsewhere. A concept I can imagine,
yes, but I cannot describe simply. It is a thing of imagination after all. Perhaps these...

As I forged on to exit the ship, I felt a warm presence behind me. Hermes swiftly.
Hermes wore a glistening white cloak and held a shimmering, golden staff. My crew
mates left the ship and trudged through the remaining, shallow sea, which was not a
substantial amount.
Odysseus, son of Laertes, o Master Mariner, almighty warrior and expert captain, I
come to inform thee of this island you are about to ponder upon. On this island of
Agapios lies a truly petrifying beast, one known as Karibrion. Winged and a flying
master, it can also stand on the earth we stand on. Though it may seem friendly
upon your first encounter, do not befriend it. You will only meet one, and there is
a catch associated with this: the one you meet will give you food but eat seven of
your men, or you can leave the island and search elsewhere in hopes of survival. Be
careful, because they move so quickly, you may not notice at first that your men are
missing. Their trickery is nothing to be tested. If it were me, I would stay here. It is
the lesser of two evils.
I did not have the time to thank the delicate, yet tricky soul of Hermes as he
vanished away into the air. I could only imagine that one, likely the one
recommended for me, was the lesser of two evils. Nevertheless, my crew, in front of
me, waded through the little amount of water we had yet to maneuver about and
washed up ashore. I followed ponderously in travail.
The island was much more vast than I had imagined, and as I got closer
The Performance Of Leonardo Dicaprio And Jonah Hill
If you haven t seen The Wolf Of Wall street, a movie that hit fame in 2013, you
should. The performance of Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill was incredible and
original. Not only was it a great movie for all people (of a responsible age). It was a
great movie for marketers. As I watched it I learned so much about marketingand
getting your name out there. I also noticed during the entire duration of the film,
they stated benefits of anything and everything it offers. The infamous Sell me
this Pen , scene said it all. So that is what I am going to do today, I am going to sell
you a pen. Well, I am not actually going to sell you a pen. I am going to sell you, me.
First lets look at marketing in general. Marketing and advertising is the ... Show more

Like the Sell this pen question has been around way before The Wolf of Wallstreet
was around.
No one wants to here the features of a product of service, those are the things that
you can mention but not promote. We don t care how shiny or great the pen is, or if
it is the top of the line pen. Those things do not provoke an emotion. The features
provoke nothing.
As marketers we need to gather information, respond to information well, deliver it
and how you close it.
In order to sell something as simple as a pen you have to show those skills I listed
above.
Gather information about the last time they used a pen, or if they use a pen and
what kind. Make sure they understand the importance of how they needed that pen
in their life. Sell something bigger than a pen. Sell them a life without a pen. How
would they sign important memorable documents without a pen? Close them; ask
for them to buy it. Once you create urgency in a product or service, they will buy it.
Just like in The Wolf of Wall street, Leo says, sell me this pen . The other man says,
Hand me the pen Do me a favor, write your name down on the napkin. Leo says, I
can t I don t have a pen. The man says, Supply and demand.
Leo needed the pen, the man had it. Hook, line and sinker. It is a simple process to
understand. It is also simple to utilize. I am not going to sit here and talk about Leo
and The Wolf of Wallstreet the entire time. Everyone has probably tried to

Clever boy. Nami knew Kyoya was exceptionally bright for his age. He took after

The Effect Of Temperature On The Duration Of Mitotic...
ABSTRACT
Plants are frequently subjected to a wide range of environmental temperatures that
may affect the duration of mitotic stages. We investigated the influence of
temperature on the duration of mitotic stages in the onion root tip squashes, Allium
cepa, by counting the number of cells appearing in each stage of mitosis when
exposed to conditions in room temperature and cold temperature. We found that the
average number of cells in interphase increased with the decrease in temperature, and
the rate of mitosis increased with an increase in temperature. Thus, the increased
amount of cells in interphase compared to the amount of cells in other stages at the
cold temperature could be the result of the higher activation energy required in
situations of lower temperatures, decreasing the rate of respiration and slowing the
process of mitosis.
INTRODUCTION
Plants are organisms that can reproduce sexually through meiosis and create more
cells through mitosis (Russell et al. 2013). For studying mitosis, the common
onion is an ideal choice. Because it is easy for onions to germinate without soil, it
is easy to control any substances provided to the plant. The onion root tips are only
a few cells thick and grow quickly making them ideal for time efficiency. The onion
root tip needs to be squashed between the cover slip and the microscope in order to
reduce the slide preparation s total depth. To dye condensed chromosomes, such as
those undergoing mitosis, a stain is used to make
Deep Ocean Deforestation
1. The extraction of oil is disruptive to the environment and can destroy natural
habitats. 2. Another reason is the fact that deep sea drilling has the potential of
exploding, leaking or spilling oil into the ocean. Accidents while transporting oil
may also dump oil into the sea. 3. The seismic noise made from the deep sea drilling
can disorient whales and other marine mammals, causing them to beach themselves.
The death of whales is not only sad, but can also impact the delicate web of marine
life. 1. Surface mining of coal causes direct and indirect damage to wildlife. The
impact on wildlife stems primarily from disturbing, removing and redistributing the
land surface. Some impacts are short term, and confined to the mine site; others...

as dead trees and acidified lakes with dead fish. a) No! b) In many remote parts of
the world, indigenous communities still exist and gold mining may disrupt their

governments, and in this process eject, often violently, the local indigenous
population. Governments in these regions have been known to kill indigenous
people for refusing to leave areas that have been sold to gold mining companies. c)
Finally In the gold mining process, land must be cleared for mining. Clear cutting
trees disrupts local ecosystems, causing animals to flee the area or perish. Also,
when the chemicals used in gold mining make their way into the soil and the water,
they disrupt the local wildlife by poisoning their sources of food and water. It is not
unusual in gold mining for toxic chemicals to be simply dumped into local
Sally Asimov
Sally is a fictional story written in 1953 by Isaac Asimov about driverless cars that
are capable of communicating. The story relates to the vehicles of today and the
news articles of today. Both stories, Sally and the Newsela article, talk about
driverless and cars that communicate with other cars, but only the Newsela article
is based off of real life. The Newsela article talks about how new cars are able to
communicate with each other, and how they tell each other about obstacles and
other things on the road. Sally talks about cars that drive by themselves and how
the cars communicate with each other. V2V will provide 360 degree situational

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority discourse Researcher John Swales in The Concept of
Discourse Community explains that there are six characteristics that need to be
identified for a group of people to be a discourse community. According to Swales,
there are six characteristics that make up a discourse community. They are common
public goals, mechanisms of intercommunication among members, participatory
mechanisms to provide information and feedback, utilizing one or more genres in
communication, a specific lexis, and a threshold level of members with a degree of

With this research I plan to go back to the roots of why sororities use Greek
language in their discourse community and how it helps them form a sisterhood
that is shared only amongst the community. Sororities and fraternities are
becoming more prevalent in universities all across the nation. Today, there are over
9 million members of the Greek communities and the number is continuously
growing each year ( Greek Life Statistics ). The terms fraternity and sorority
describe groups of men and women who join together to offer fellowship,
academic support, leadership training, participation in campus activities, service to
the community and University, and preparation for future careers ( What is Greek
Life? ). People that in are the Greek community all have at least one thing in
common. Whether they just want to be apart of a sisterhood/brotherhood or
deeper things like they all share a common belief or goal. Sororities have five basic
benefits: sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, philanthropy (charitable causes
/community service), and socializing ( About Sororities ). These benefits are
included in the values and beliefs of a sorority as a discourse community. Greeks
all speak a language that they learn in the process of becoming part of their
fraternity/sorority(recruitment process). Agendas, e mails, and text messages are all
forms of a genre. A genre is anything that is written down and shared in the discourse
community. Face to face interaction is a way to advertise for events and also another

Becoming A Midwife
On my first day in the antenatal clinic, I observed the role a midwife for filled and
the responsibilities they had during their shift. I discovered;
A midwife s role and responsibilities during antenatal clinic, is to care for low risk
pregnant women. A midwife works mostly in the hospital or community setting. They
build a trusting relationship with expecting mothers and they have a holistic approach
to their care.
Midwives provide advice and support for women during pregnancy, they help women
make their own decisions about the care and services they access. And sometimes
the midwife will act as advocate. A midwife will assess each woman s health and
social status and promote awareness of public health issues for expectant mothers and

Ethan Frome And Age Of Innocence Similarities
Freedom is a myth. It is nonexistent in this world. It does not matter how financially
able someone is, liberty is not to be an option for anyone. This is demonstrated
perfectly in book Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton and the movie The Age of
Innocence, an accurate adaption of the novel Edith Wharton wrote. Ethan Fromeis
about a man who falls in love with his wife s cousin, Mattie Silver. The Age of
Innocenceis about a man, Newland Archer, who falls in love with his wife s cousin,
Countess Ellen Olenska. The stories sound very similar, but in detail, these stories
have differences as well. Ethan Frome and The Age of Innocence portay characters

In Ethan Frome, cucumbers was the main icon in the novel. With Zeena, it was
always shown as withering and dry. Zeena always went to bed as soon as she had
her supper, and the shutterless windows of the house of the house were dark. A
dead cucumber vine dangled from the porch like the crape streamer tied to the
door for a death (Wharton 45). This represented how Ethan s love for Zeena was
demolished, if there was any love to demolish. Mattie, on the other hand, was
always compared to a new and lively pickle. She set the lamp on the table, and he
saw that it was carefully laid for supper, with fresh doughnuts, stewed blueberries
and his favourite pickles in a dish of gay red glass (Wharton 72). This showed how
Ethan felt young and sprightly with Mattie. There was even a scene in the book
where the cat, Zeena s most loyal companion, jumped on the table and broke the
pickle dish, which was a wedding gift to Ethan and Zeena. The cat, profiting by
this unusual demonstration, tried to effect an unnoticed retreat, and in doing so
backed into the pickle dish, which fell to the floor with a crash (Wharton 74). The
scene demonstrated that Zeena and Ethan s marriage (the pickle dish) was
devastated, no longer can be stable. In The Age of Innocence, flowers were a
significant figure as well. While Newland and May were betrothed, Newland
would send lilies to May every morning. When Ellen and Newland became more at
ease with each other, he started sending her flowers as well. However, Ellen
received yellow roses, not lilies. Both symbols showed how both Ethan and
Newland are growing their love for their wives cousins, but when looked closely,
they both gave an entirely different meaning. The cucumbers presented how Ethan s
affection to Zeena was vanished and was with Mattie. This varies from Newland s
dilemma because he still loved May and Countess Olenska, but

The Cold War was the persistent tension that existed between the United Sates and
some of its Western supporters and the Soviet Uniontogether with other Communists
countries. This tension was witnessed between the time the Second World War was
coming to an end and the Soviet Union dissolution in 1991. The Cold Warfeatured
military, economic, and geo political rivalries between the West and the Communism

The parties involved considered their political and economic systems to be superior
to their rivals and viewed almost every event taking places globally as to be part of
the ongoing confrontation in an effort to determine which between Communism and
Capitalism would emerge as the prevailing ideology across the globe.
The Soviets tried hard to spread the political and economic Communism system to
other countries, while the United States on its side was promoting its democracy
vision and free enterprise. This competition resulted to several small scale military
conflicts as well as dozens of major wars that attracted armed forces from both
nations. However, as the name of the war suggests, no direct military engagement
was witnessed between the two nations.
The origins of this was can be traced back when the Soviet Union and America were
still allies in the Second World War. These two countries had a mutual suspicion
history and both maintained their respective and different position on the way the
postwar Europe was to be administered. Each nation was out to reconstruct Europe in
their own desired image through Soviet aligned Communists governments or Western
style democracies .
In addition, the Soviets and its allies wanted to come up with a buffer zone that was
pro Russian which would protect them from possible attacks in future. These
conflicting visions between the two nations clearly came out
The Taming Of The Shrew And The Merchant Of Venice

The Merchant of Venice . This play was known for being controversial but also very
interesting play that captured the attention of the viewers. Shakespeare s The

as it was right on the sea, with excellent shipping facilities for trading with the east.
During this time, there was a large population of Jew s in Europe, although 16th
century Venice was more tolerant of foreigners than Elizabethan England, Jews in
Venice were confined to ghettos at the time Shakespeare wrote The Merchant of
Venice. If a person compares The Merchant of Venice , to the other Shakespeare s
plays that have been covered in this class already and also to the ones that have not
be covered yet, such as As You Like It or Much Ado About Nothing , some common
features can be found throughout each of these plays. Some of the common features
are: Multiple plots, Dual settings, Games/Trials/Practical Jokes/Music, Love Vs.
Friendships/Multiple Marriages, Different types of relationships and a comic villain.
Each of these features will be explained in greater details.

Mary Anne s character showed increasingly inhuman and savage tendencies. She
wore a bush hat and filthy green fatigues; she carried the standard M 16 automatic

described the changes that Mary Anne overcame from this young pure girl to this
indigenous person living in a harsh jungle by describing her attire, a bush hat, M

character and behavior of soldiers change throughout the war, because this pure
girl does not turn into a indigenous human like this without any reason. She was
also a part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a
necklace of human tongues (20). In this sentence, Mary Anne is seen as a complete
iron hearted and psychotic. Tim O Brien has a lot of implications in this sentence.
First, a human necklace human tongue (20) shows the character like an insane and
heartless soldier changed by war. She wears her culottes, her pink sweater (20), this
sentence is externally shown to the soldiers who want to go back to when they were
pure. However, Tim O Brien also reveals the soldiers would like to return to their
former mental status after the Vietnam War, but the soldiers were already past the
point of no return, they lost their emotions and part of themselves. These the soldiers

Nurse Educator
Overall the nurse educator can have a huge impact on decreasing LV. Nurse educators
can provide a safe learning environment that challenge and prepare students for their
transition into their new role as a nurse (Thomas, Bertram, Allen, 2012). Through the
clinical practice environment it provides the opportunity for students to practice
learned skills and apply this knowledge when the student begins their practice as a
nursein the workplace.
Nurse Managers (NM) are also an important component of decreasing LV in the
workplace. It is important that leadership refuse to tolerate LV (Major,
Abderrahman, Alvarez, Sweeney, 2013). The NM needs to address any incidences
of LV immediately. It is suggested the NM engage the employees in a crucial... Show

The NM needs to bring it out in the open so it can be discussed and addressed
(Koch, 2012). Engage the staff by providing education on LV and how to stop it.
Use the team approach to set the expectations for interactions and hold staff
accountable on their performance appraisals. Coach the staff on the necessary skills
such as cognitive rehearsal to stop LV. In cognitive rehearsal the person who is on
the receiving end of LV uses this technique to stop, stay calm, and think about what
was said and not personalize the behavior. Once the person has stopped and thought
through what was said the nurse can then respond calmly to help defuse the situation.
Addressing the behavior when it happens has a bigger impact on stopping the
behavior (Griffin Clark, 2014).
For the individual almost all the articles write about the importance of educating
nursing staff about LV. Nurses should learn to recognize it and confront it. Role
model acceptable behavior and be the change. Be assertive in your communications
and empowered. Do not suffer in silence or talk to other co workers as this can
perpetuate the problem. Document the incidences of LV but keep emotions out of the
documentation. Schedule a meeting with the supervisor and file a formal complaint

such as solar street lights and electric vehicle charging stations have been installed.

Analytical Analysis Of Catch 22 By Joseph Heller
Throughout World War II, an estimated 100,000 Allied bomber crewmen were
killed over Europe. In the novel Catch 22 the history of World War II is clearly
presented and described within the text. The author Joseph Heller incorporates
history by providing a watered down version of the world through his eyes. Not
only does he provide details about the war he presents his bias opinion that war is not
a walk in the park. Joseph Helleralso gives the opportunity for a Veteran reader to also
make connections to the text itself. The novelCatch 22 is a piece of writing that is
only made possible by history itself. After the first page is turned in Catch 22 you
realize that you re going back in time to the time of war. In the first couple of
chapters we are provided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know that this story is taking place on an United states Airbase somewhere in
Italy. The current situation on the base is that the commanders are raising the
mission count every time someone reached the max missions to be sent home. As
stated by Mr. Patterson this event was a common occurrence during World War II
due to the lack of trained men.(Patterson 1995) The authors background may
enforce that he for one saw this first hand or even heard stories about missions
being raised. Catch 22 explains its historical context primarily using satire to make
serious things more comical. One great example is when Doc Daneeka is thought to
be dead and his wife and kids receive a great sum of money from the insurance
company. Instead of making this dramatic scene the author had the wife and kids
appear greedy and thankful by taking the money to start a new
Lpg Market Prospects in India
DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF LPG IN INDIA
INTRODUCTION
According to the latest scenario of the Natural Gas Analysis, the Natural Gas
market in India is expected to be the one of the fastest growing in the world during
the next two decades. Among its segments LPG has made a substantial progress to
become the most convenient, cost effective and pollution free means of fuel,
especially in the middle class segment. LPG market in India is not at all versatile
and competitive. It s a part of the Indian economy is still untouched by privatization.
After 1991, many companies tried jumping in the LPG market but could not survive

The Issues With Dissociate Identity Disorder
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the issues with Dissociate Identity Disorder
(DID), previously known as Multiple Personality disorder in comparison to the
movie Sybil. This movie is based on a true story of a girl name Sybil and the
horrors she faces as a child while developing into a young woman with multiple
personalities. DID is a very controversial diagnosis and often not believed by many
professionals in the mental health/psychiatryfield. According to Vedat Sar s (2014)
article The Many Face s of Dissociation , Dissociation is the ultimate form of
human response to chronic developmental stress, because patients with dissociative
disorders report the highest frequency of childhood abuse and/ or neglect among
all psychiatric disorders (pg 171). In the movie, Sybil was repeatedly abused by
her mother, neglected by her father, and witnessed many tragic events. Sybil,
whose real name is Shirley Ardell Mason, received psychiatric treatment from Dr.
Connie Wilbur. During the treatment sessions, Dr. Wilbur had become more and
more engaged with Sybil and believed that Sybil suffered from multiple
personalities. Meanwhile, Dr. Wilbur discussed the case of Sybil with her
colleagues and was ridiculed for the idea. One was Herbert Spiegel, a New York
psychiatrist who said that he had treated Ms. Mason when Dr. Wilbur was on
vacation. Dr. Spiegel described his patient not as a sufferer of multiple personality
disorder but, rather, as a readily suggestible hysteric
The Latino Community
In South East Los Angeles the majority of people who live there are the Latino
communities. People who live in South East Los Angeles tend to be lower class
people which means the neighborhoods won t look like what one sees at Beverly

the emerging values that stand out in these communities would be environmental
concern. If one were to walk around South East Los Angelesit wouldn t be difficult to
find trash or furniture dumped on the sidewalk. The photo above is of a main
intersection within the cityof South Gate. This specific corner has always been a
popular dump site for the people in the neighborhood. According to Henslin, the

Meursault Reflection
Meursault experiences the world as it happens around him, he cares not to look
towards the future nor does he lament the past. Meursault lives in the present,
however, he does not see the present as most do. Instead of having strong emotions
and feelings Meursault looks at the present through cold logic and does not attach
feelings to anything or anyone. Meursault even goes as far as killing someone yet
feeling no remorse for doing so, he views his own arrest and trial as more of an
inconvenience than anything. In the quite loneliness of his cell, Meursault
changed. Instead of not caring about his past or future, instead of not attaching
feelings towards his experiences, Meursault starts to care. In part 1 of the novel
Meursault does not care about look towards the future while also not looking back
at the past. Instead Meursault focuses on the present yet even then he does not
attach emotions to what happens to him in the present. At the funeral after his
mom dies Meursault does not cry, he does not want to see her in the casket, he
really doesn t seem to care that his mother is dead. These lack of feelings describe
Meursault s mentality throughout most of the first part of this book. Despite the
fact that Meursault is presented as absurd he seems to find some meaning or feeling
when he is with Marie. ...[Marie] asked me if I loved her. I told her it didn t mean
anything but that I didn t think so. She looked sad. (Meursault,35) Although
Meursault says he does not love

* Credit or Default Risk Credit risk is the risk that a company or individual will be
unable to pay the contractual interest or principal on its debt obligations. This type
of risk is of particular concern to investors who hold bonds in their portfolios.
Government bonds, especially those issued by the federal government, have the least
amount of default risk and the lowest returns, while corporate bonds tend to have the
highest amount of default risk but also higher interest rates. Bonds with a lower
chance of default are considered to be investment grade, while bonds with higher
chances are considered to be junk bonds. * Business Risk: This is the risk that issuers

How long you intend to invest If you were investing for 12 months or less, a
financial adviser would probably recommend you keep your money in cash or a

But it would also mean you wouldn t diversify your investment. Your risk profile
As a general rule, how you diversify your investments has a lot to do with how well
you understand the relationship between risk and return and the level of risk and
return you re looking for. How much money you have to invest If you are investing
just a few thousand dollars it may not be cost effective to diversify your money
across more than one asset class as the transaction fees may eat up any earnings
you make. Managed funds are an effective way to diversify with small and large
amounts of money, either as a single investment or as a way of investing ongoing

Mass Media in General and Newspapers
PART A: INTRODUCTION 1. Rationale Mass media in general and newspapers
in particular nowadays play a very important role in our lives. Many people even
say that living in the world without newspapers is like living in an isolated island.
Newspapers help us become informed citizens and make better decision by
providing a lot of facts. Hard news stories, vital statistics, weather, sports stories
and scores and even calendars are examples of items that help inform readers. Some
newspaper articles help interpret or explain the meaning of news to readers.
Besides, newspapers provide services to readers that is providing information help
readers solve business, home, recreation and daily living problems. Moreover, some
items in newspapers are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third part (Part C) is the conclusion which presents the results of the study with
suggestions for translators and for further researches. PART B: DEVELOPMENT
Chapter I: Theoretical Background 1. Newspaper headlines 1.1. What is newspaper
headline? Conventionally, it is believed that newspapers have more readers than
any other kind of written text. According to Van Dijk (1986), for most citizens,
news is perhaps the type of written discourse with which they are confronted most
frequently (p. 156). In the newspaper it is the headline that has the highest
readership. It summarizes the content of a story, and entices an audience into
reading the article. According to Ungerer (2000), a headline describes the essence
of a complicated news story in a few words. It informs quickly and accurately and
arouses the reader s curiosity (p. 48). Newspaper headlines are particularly important
for the way readers comprehend a news text, they are markers that monitor attention,
perception and the reading process (Van Dijk, 1988). According to Danuta R. (1998),
headline is a unique type of text. It has a range of functions that specifically dictate its
shape, content, and structure and it operates within a range of restrictions that limited
the freedom of the writer. In other words, headline should
John Butler Becoming America Summary
In his book, Becoming America: The Revolution Before 1776, Jon Butler is arguing
that prerevolutionary America was much more modern than it is often thought to
have been. He argues throughout the book that the people, economy, politics, material
wants and needs, and spiritual beliefs within the colonies were all very similar to
those in modern America. Butler discusses the diversity of people seen within the
colonies that was not only unprecedented at the time, but is still not seen in some
countries today. He states that by 1703 there was no ethnic or national majority
within the colonies and that in certain areas, a majority could only be found by
grouping together all white settlers. Butler also points out that by 1760, American
Indian populations had decreased dramatically and were occupying very small
geographic areas surrounded by European settlers. This caused many Native
American populations to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes the colonial economy as more rapidly growing and complex than any
other economy in this time period. He states that the economy was incredibly
competitive, but that the gap between the rich and the poor accelerated more rapidly
in prerevolutionary America than any other time in American history. Butler also
stresses that the economy of the colonies at this time relied greatly on farming, but
states that after 1680 Americans began farming in a more modern and commercial
way. This meant that farms were not only producing enough to maintain their
household, but were also producing excess crops and livestock that they were able
to sell for profit. Butler argues that the southern colonies led the way in the
advancement of the colonial economy in unexpected ways. Farmers in the southern
colonies were able to manipulate the economy by diversifying the amount of crops
they grew in order to safeguard against price drops in certain crops due to excess
Should United States Promote International Trade
I believe that the U.S. should promote more international trade. When the U.S. trades
with other countries, this may allow an opportunity to receive goods and services
that can t be produced due to lack of resources or even for lower costs. An article
from Benefits of International Trade explains, The rise of international tradeis
essential for the growth of globalization (Economywatch, 2010). Although there may
be some set backs with international trade, like increasing unemployment rates in the
U.S., there seem to be more benefits.
As stated in an article from International Trade Administration, the high demand for
exports from the United States has increased the amount of jobs available. Roughly
6 million jobs were created in 2006 (Ward, 2009) because other countries had a high
requests for exports from the U.S. Some countries do not have the supplies or
resources to create goods and services that they need. They rely on the U.S. to create
what they can t and buy them. The United States also has the ability and resources to
create products faster then other countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Workers states that Although increased exports support U.S. jobs, increased
imports cost U.S. jobs (Scotts, 2015), if the United States were to stop bringing in
imports and shipping out exports, moving towards a more protectionist economy, a
large chunk of the United States income would be lost. A large part of the U.S.
income relies on the money that is made from the selling of goods and service to
consumers. Also, if the U.S. were to stop importing goods, they would have to start
making them themselves. This may create more jobs for U.S. workers, however
consumers may pay the price. It would take more money for the U.S. to produce the
products that they can easily import from another country for less then half the cost

Cultural Conflicts In Nicaragua
Introduction While China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, and immigration have
dominated international news, clashes between the government and protesters have
resulted in 145 dead and thousands injured (Agence France Presse, 2018, para. 5)
during the bloodiest disturbance in Nicaragua since the 1980 s (Associated Press,
2018, para. 11). A missionary evacuated from the region in May succinctly expressed
the frustrations of many over the lack of impetus of other nations to condemn the
rampant violence and human rights violations that have become common place in
this conflict (R. Caiazzo, personal communication, June 5, 2018). Analysis
Addressing cultural conflicts begins by mastering the story behind the problem
(Patterson, Grenny, Maxfield, McMillan, Switzler, 2013). Hauk and Mueller (2015)
suggest three variables common to such stories; the cultural leaders, the cultural
perspectives, and the incentives that compel each group to engage or disengage in
negotiation. Understanding these components offers insights to open potential doors
to negotiate an acceptable resolution. Cultural Leaders The first step in moving
cultural conflicts toward productive negotiation is identifying leaders; influential
individuals which Hauk and Mueller describe as the source of culture.... Show more

Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry
With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an
increase in the number of different communication standards each requiring its own
specific hardware and processing. Our project addresses the need for radio
interoperability with these various standards through the development of hardware
generators for a software defined radio (SDR) system. These hardware generators
will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction language. When given a set of
parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will automatically output
circuit designs for the given application thereby accelerating the hardware design
process and introducing a new method for multi standard support. Specifically, our
team will focus on the development of generators for the system s beamforming
and MIMO blocks. For this reporting period, our team was responsible for updating
our previous CORDIC block for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset
correction (CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC block is simply a set of hardware
efficient algorithms capable of performing hyperbolic and trigonometric calculations
without the use of a hardware multiplier. By avoiding use of hardware multipliers,
the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates required to perform
these trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area in
exchange for less accuracy. The work breakdown for this task is depicted in the
diagram below (see Figure 1). This task
Operation Argo And The Killing Of Osama Bin Ladin Essay
Introduction: The Central Intelligence Agency, hereafter referred to as the CIA, is
one of the most well known and fascinating intelligence agencies throughout the
world. For the most part, when the CIA comes up in the news, it is to report that
the agency failed in doing something. This paper will analyze different successes
and failures of well known operations of the CIA. The successes that will be
analyzed are Operation Argo and the killing of Osama Bin Ladin. Operation Argo
has recently become well known due to a movie being released about the
operation. The killing of Osama Bin Ladin is probably the most popular case that
the CIA had completed due to its significance in a time when the United States was
quite vulnerable. This paper will review these two successes of the agency and
analyze how these missions were successful and why. The two failures that will be
discussed are the attacks on September 11, 2001 and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The
attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 are crucial to the American people and
to the Intelligence Community. It is important to analyze these attacks in order to
figure out what, if anything, could have been done differently that may have
prevented these attacks from occurring. The Bay of Pigs Invasion is an infamous
failure of the United States as well as the CIA in which many mistakes were made.
The CIA plays an essential role in the safety of the United States and its people. Due
to its high importance, it is crucial to

Executive Dashboard is a web based Executive Information System (EIS) where the
organisation is used to proactively view critical metrics, identify trends, raise
questions, and devise new management strategies. The Executive dashboard is also
called as Strategic dashboard which will typically provide the KPI s (Key
Performance Indicators) that a company s executive team track on a periodically. A
strategic dashboard should provide the executive team with a high level overview of
the state of the business together with the opportunities the business faces.
Benefits of Executive Dashboard:
пѓјIt provides total visibility into your business and promotes a greater business
insight.
пѓјThe dashboard will effectively identify the key metrics initially and so initially we
can start to improve the results.
пѓјDashboards are developed with the ability to get as deeper in information as
required by simply selecting the desired variable or object.
пѓјEffective Dashboard allows measuring the performance in a periodic way so that
by the results naturally work harder to improve their performance and results.
пѓјMost dashboards are designed to suit any mobile device as to reach anywhere, to
everyone, in a timely manner with the most accurate information.
пѓјThe dashboards are used to monitor system activity, which may include database
monitoring, server monitoring, memory metrics etc.
пѓјThe Effective dashboard also shows which area of the organisation is working
poorly and also we can increase
Do The Right Thing By Spike Lee
The melting pot of America is the mix of different cultures and identities that
supposedly make up the American Society. But to the minorities who are the heart
and soul of the melting pot, they know that the idea of diverse and equal identities in
American culture isn t always true. Two sources that dive deeper into this idea are
The Reluctant Fundamentalist, by Mohsin Hamid, and Do the Right Thing by Spike
Lee. In The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Hamid uses the main character Changez to
show the struggles of being a Pakistani American in the 9/11 era of America. The
audience follows Changez as he struggles with identifying as an American while he

Changez exclaimed that the patriotic symbols plastered everywhere seemed to
proclaim: We are America not New York, which, in my opinion, means something
quite different the mightiest civilization the world has ever known; you have
slighted us; beware our wrath (Hamid 79). This acknowledgment of patriotism
shows that Changez felt his culture was overwhelmed and belittled by America s
response to the attacks. Changez s feelings of lack of identity in American culture
was not just felt by him, in a qualitative study called Understanding the experiences
of discrimination in Muslim Americans post 9/11 , Dr. Zaman questioned other
Middle Eastern Americans about how their identity changed by living in America
after 9/11. One lady responded by saying I just don t feel that Americans accept me
as an American. They look at me, or people with a similar background, that we re
some outsiders intruding their country (Zaman 82). By using the quote, Dr. Zaman
shows how other people of the Middle Eastern minorities felt detached in American
society after 9/11. This patriotic response made it hard for individuals just like
Changez to have a sense of belonging in the American mainstream culture of post 9
/11. Even through all the persecution that faced Changez after 9/11, he was still able
to make a successful use of non violent activism to fight for a sense of identity in the
mainstream culture.
Cetaceans Stranding
Introduction Cetaceans have an important role in the structure and functioning of
ecosystems. For a long time, scientists have been studying their status, distribution,
and seasonal abundance through strandings. NOAA s National Marine Fisheries
Services defines a stranding as a marine mammal found dead on shore, alive on shore
but unable to return to the water, or in a foreign habitat and unable to return to its
own habitat without assistance (http://www.ifaw.org/united states/our work/animal
rescue/faqs about strandings). The reasons why cetaceans strand are still largely
unknown. The stranding of single animals is more likely to occur because the animal
is ill, diseased, or injured. Mass strandings involve two or more cetaceans that strand

Cetaceans use echolocation to make sense of their world and has only recently
been of concern due to the ability of dolphins to locate objects and discriminate
objects based on size, shape, and composition (Akamatsu, Nakaqawa, Hatakeyama,
1995). Any disturbance in the form of sound pollution could cause these cetaceans
to mass strand because they are so dependent on sound as their principal sense
(Nowacek et al. 2007). Sound travels very efficiently underwater and so impacted
areas can affect thousands of square kilometers out. Most of the sound pollution in
the ocean come from underwater explosions caused by sonar, seismic testing caused
by oil and gas industries, or underwater sea quakes through natural events. The
anthropogenic noises can cause deep diving populations like beaked whales to be
threatened and abandon their habitat and surface rapidly. Exposure to anthropogenic
sounds negatively affect deep diving cetaceans (Cox et al. 2006). There are a
number of hypotheses for the injuries in the cetaceans that stranded in areas of sonar
exercises like decompression sickness and behavioral
A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Marquez
Reader Response Essay: A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings What would you do
if you found a man with wings in your yard? Would you imprison him, turn him into

any country at any time? South American Roots GarcГa MГЎrquez lived in
Columbia, South America when he published Enormous in 1955. This was an
extremely violent period of civil war (Goodwin, 2006). John Goodwin pointed out
that Enormous was a social commentary piece of the times and is an analogy of the
relationship between the Columbian government and the Catholic Church (2006). I
believe that this is an excellent description of this story. The government is
represented by the Angel and the Catholic Church by Father Gonzaga. There is a

The Drawbacks Of Globalization And The Effects Of...
Developing countries are adversely affected by globalization, especially in
economy area. Globalization is a process which the world interconnection keeps
increasing so it is possible to trade or exchange cultures conveniently. In the past, it
was anticipated to develop a whole of countries economy or technology and solve
some environmental issues such as air pollution or global warming. Unfortunately,
until these days, the result of globalization does not reach 50% of economists
expectation. The major reason of the evaluation is in spite of the fact that it
provides advantages, globalization increase the gap between rich and poor. One of
the biggest victims is developing countries. They suffer a great loss from the
drawbacks of globalization. These are excessive outflows of brain and money,
excessive competition in the world market, and Increase of economic polarization.
First of all, a lot of people and money dwindle away in developing countries. This
problem happened by people who are planning to study abroad or emigrate. Through
the Internet, people can share other s life. By comparing one another, some low
income countries citizens can make a plan to seek employment or learning in other
countries. To have education in other countries, people who are earning money in
their countries should consume immoderate cost for overseas students. It means

Starship Troopers Racist Ideology
This essay will focus on the relationship between the film Starship Troopers
(Verhoeven; 1997; USA) and the parodic fascist ideology that is presented in the
film. The film tells the story of an interplanetary war between Earth and colonies of
large insect like aliens in the 23rd century. In brief, this essay will delve into some of
the utilized stylistic and thematic traits included in the filmsuch as the obvious Nazi
imagery, the powerful media presence that is dictated by the State and the deliberate
satire that is used to comment on current American concerns.
Before we delve into how Starship Troopers portrays a parodic fascist/nationalistic
ideology, we must first define what ideology is, in particular, what is means in terms

Heinlein (Crim, 2009 p. 18). The novel followed a similar pattern of all his juvenile
novels aimed at male adolescents, focusing on the science of science fiction whilst
following youthful education stories and supporting an optimistic vision of space

protagonists portrayed, calling Heinlein s political views strongly authoritarian and
fascist. On the other hand, Verhoeven s ideology is exactly the opposite. Rather than
downplaying these fascist elements of Heinlein s novel, Verhoeven decides to play
them up, giving the film s incipient Nazism an admiring positive spin (Cass, 1999, p.

gets away with cheeky, sometimes savage, parody of patriotism with campy
enthusiasm, blatant and black humour and a cast of bugs, which steal the picture

Environmentalism And Poverty
Market Liberals focus on economic growth and believe in an unregulated free
market system with the ability to self regulate through consumer demand. They
believe that environmental damages that may stem from economic growth will be
corrected once a society is economically satisfied (wealthy) and shift their focus
away from financial need. In my opinion, the problem with this philosophy is that in
a society that uses overconsumption as a way of comparing wealth and sometimes
self worth, the planet would likely be completely depleted of all resources before
this group is satisfied. Additionally they don t really have a clear plan for how to
alleviate poverty because they blame the existence of poverty on political failures and
over regulation. Market liberals tend to minimize environmental impact and claim
poverty is the main contributor to environmental degradation.
Institutionalists have similar beliefs to market liberals; however, they focus on the
need for institutions to regulate economies and the environment to ensure resources
are managed in a way that does not compromise the needs of future generations. They
believe we still have time to address our environmental problems. Institutionalists
focus on improving living standards while improving the environment (for humans).
Bioenvironmentalists focus on environmental health, believe the earth has a limited
carrying capacity and that humans are near or already exceeding it. Overconsumption
and population are viewed as
The Valdivia Earthquake
Earthquakes, also referred to as temblors, are one of the world s most powerful
occurrences. The Earth has four layers: the crust, mantle, inner and outer core.
Earthquakes occur in the crust and upper mantle (Refer to Figure 1). The mantle is
made up of semi molten rock called magma. The upper mantle rock is hard. The crust
is the outer layer of the earth. Together, the crust and upper mantle make up the
lithosphere. The lithosphere is 20 50 km thick and is cracked. The asthenosphere sits
below the lithosphere. The lithosphere consists of tectonic plates (lithospheric plates).
Tectonic plates is the theory that the Earth s outer shell is divided by slabs of solid

Seismic waves are waves of energy that travel through the Earth s layers as a result of

direction of travel. P waves are faster than S waves. S waves, or secondary waves are
transverse waves. They travel at right angles to the direction of

With work and drug challenge, as well traditional culture versus street culture it
causes to have different relationships, within residents in El Barrio. The resigned
form relationships with their parent, partners, and their children. Street culture has
influenced them by changing the way they are formed and help, which is unlike the

The tradition ay is they are close to both and when time goes on they take care of
them. But due to the street culture their relationship is different; they are close to

the fathers are absent most of their lives. They have no father as a role
Dea Is A United States Department Of Justice Enforcement...
The Drug Enforcement Administration also known as DEA is a United States
Department of Justice law enforcement agency. Their purposes is to enforce the law
to stop the sale of illegal drugs, drug trafficking, investigate major crimes within the
United States and internationally, and to secure and protect our communities from
ever confronting drugs. D.E.A. also cooperates with many major law enforcement
agencies such as federal, state, local, and overseas law enforcement agencies to stop
criminals from smuggling drugs in our territory and help the people from getting

The United States have declared that it is doing its best to combat the war on drugs.
The drug problem has not stopped and the people continue to buy drugs no matter
what circumstances they are obtained. With drugs prices rising, people are willing
do anything to get drugs even if it leads them to become involved in criminal
activities such as robbery. The money and military activity have not been enough, and
the urban problem, has not been resolved. The United States has the largest demand
of drugs in the world. While other countries also face the drug problem, the United
States has spent the most money and law enforcement; however, its effectiveness is
questionable. Consequently, now there is a great amount of drugs coming from
Mexico s borderline into the United States. The drug cartels have become more
violent, killing Mexican officers and innocent people in order to smuggle their drugs.
The United States needs more security control and better coordination between
agencies to fight the violent Mexican drug war spilling across the southern border.
There is not enough organization between the D.E.A and other groups such as the
Department of Homeland Security. The United States has little hope of winning the
war unless enough protection on the border and Border States are developed. The
agencies need better coordination between the federal, state and locals agencies in
order to prevent more drugs to cross
The Importance Of Carers Instructions On Children s
Food...
Why it is important to follow carers instructions in respect of their child s food
allergies or intolerances
For some children, it is essential to monitor their diet and the food that they eat has
to be prepared and planned very carefully as they may have allergies, intolerances or
medical conditions, such as: disease or diabetes. You should take care to follow the
parents instructions relating to their child allergies or intolerances, failure to do so
could result in the child health being endangered, possibly even in death.
Allergies
Contact with certain fields can be fatal for some children with allergies. This means
that great care has to be taken and I system must be designed to vent children from
coming into contact with their allergen (for example nuts or dairy products). Where
the allergy is severe, this may affect the food that can be prepared and eating in the
setting as some children can have a reaction just from being near other children who
are eating food containing and allergen.
Systems to vent children from coming into contact with a known food allergen
include photographs and names of the children in the kitchen, only key persons
giving the child food and certain plate being used for particular children so as to
provide a visual reminder. It is also essential that children are supervised when they
are eating so that if an allergic reaction occurs emergency help can be called. Signs
of an allergic reaction include swelling of the lips your eyes, redness
Essay On Harm Reduction
Harm reduction is an intervention paradigm which deviates from the traditional
abstinence only therapeutic goal which over 75% of treatment programs in the
United States adhere to, and as a result is able to treat a large population
characteristically excluded from addiction services. Demarginalization, therapeutic
engagement, and an improved quality of life for consumers are objectives which
should be substantive enough to motivate both service providers and policy makers
to reconsider changing total abstinence / treatment adherence based definitions of
success in substance abuse services, high risk behavioral interventions, and mental
health treatment.
People s ability to manage their health related behaviors may occur along a spectrum
ranging from highly controlled at one end to profoundly disordered at the other. The
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration s 2009 National Survey, Drug
Use and Health Report, found that 22.2 million people in the United States met the
criteria established for a substance use or dependence diagnosis. Out of those
identified, only 2 million are estimated to seek treatment in a given year and less than
half of that population will be able to maintain their sobriety after leaving a
therapeutic environment. Based on these statistics the overwhelming majority of ...

As opposed to being a strict set of policies, harm reduction has been described as an
more of an attitude (Marlatt, Larimar, and Witkiewitz, 2012, p. 8) that is founded on
strong humanitarian values. It offers an intervention paradigm which refrains from
making moralistic judgements about the nature of substance use behaviors, and
instead focuses upon reducing the negative impact less functional patterns of
behavior have on the affected individuals, their communities, and society at
Chiaroscuro
There was a gentle hush all along Nakanoshima. All of the shops and high rise
buildings had their shutters rolled down creating shadowy, silent walls. Darkness. A
lonely orphaned boy stood outside the Kansai Electric Power Company building. At
exactly 11:30pm, scheduled precisely of course, the top of the building lit up,
glowing like a lightbulb. Its radiance was mesmerising, illuminating the pitch black
Osakanight sky. Takayuki hugged his loose tattered clothing closer to his bony frame,
and with weathered hands, prised open an unlocked window. Clambering inside, he
traced his hands across the unfamiliar walls, searching in the darkness...

Creak!
Instinctively, Takayuki jammed down the emergency opening button on the controls
and with a hiss; he was greeted with yet another dark room. However, the elevator
did not land squarely on the platform and thus, Takayuki was confronted with the
prospect of falling into an abyss. Carefully, he shimmied his way down the outside
edge of the elevator before gracefully pushing off and landing safely. Composing
himself, Takayuki discovered that he was on the eighteenth floor, reading off the
wall. He began to run towards the long spiral staircase that awaited him.
The unchecked fires were dispersing rapidly from downtown Nakanoshima, and had
at last reached the Kansai Power building. Believing it to be empty, emergency crews
were instructed to stay outside, whilst firemen attempted to tame the fires.
Panting heavily, Takayuki stripped off his sweaty jacket, carelessly dumping it on
the ground as he persevered onwards, willing himself up the final set of stairs. It
was indeed a sight to behold. Takayuki was completely unprepared, having spent the
last few hours in the dark, blinded by the powerful beam of light that spread out in
ever widening circles. However, as the magnificent light created a beautiful

Bilingual Education And Multiculturalism
First, it is important to identify two main types of bilingual education; transitional
and maintenance. Transitional means the primary focus is on learning the dominant
language, while drifting apart from the minority language. On the other hand,
maintenance deals with maintaining and developing the L1 while also trying to learn
the dominant language (Hidden Curriculum, 2014). The main focus of maintenance
is to help the child maintain their cultural identity while also trying to help them learn
the minority language while living in a society that is prevalent in that specific
language (Hidden Curriculum, 2014). Now that we have had the chance to talk about
bilingual educationand talk about two important aspects of bilingual education...

This case led to the next crucial case in 1982, which was the Plyer v. Doe. The
Supreme Court ruled that undocumented children cannot be denied access to
education solely on the basis of their immigration status (Noel, 2008). The U. S.
Supreme Court felt as though children who were not able to receive education and
who were denied the right to education would be drastically harmed throughout their
lifetime which is why this case was passed. Many of these undocumented citizens
came from Mexico, primarily from Texas and California. The two cases set the stage
for immigration into the United States. Prior to these two cases, many people were
turned away because they knew little to know English and were seen useless in the
United States. This goes against multiculturalism because these minority groups were
not treated with the same respect and were viewed as inferior to the dominant culture
which was English. Now that we have some background history on the immigration
and refugee status it is important to talk about the political trends against bilingual
education and multiculturalism that exist today. The first topic that will be
introduced is the DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors
Act). The Dream Act allows current, former and future undocumented high school
graduates and GED recipients a three step pathway to US citizenship through college,
work or the armed forces (The Dream Act, n.d.). One important aspect through the
DREAM act is
1776 David Mccullough Sparknotes
The book 1776 by David McCullough tells the story of the military aspects of the
American Revolution. McCullough writes the book from both the British and
American point of views, creating a better understanding of what both sides were
undergoing during the war.
Not only does he have a degree from Yale, but McCullough has also been awarded
with the nations highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In
addition to this, he has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize twice. He has also written
multiple other non fiction historical books and biographies such as Truman, The
Great Bridge and John Adams. Further, McCullough has lectured in all parts of the
country including the White House and Congress.
The story begins with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major battle in the book 1776, and an important turning point of the year, was the
Battle of Trenton. After crossing the Delaware River, the Continental Armyopened
fire on the surprised Hessian troops that were stationed there. After a 45 minute battle,
the Hessians surrendered, giving the Americans a much needed victory. McCullough
shows the importance of this battle by describing multiple American victories that
followed, such as the Battles of Princeton and Fort Lee.
Through vivid descriptions of George Washington, I learned that he was not the best
military leader. There were multiple times in the war where Washington was faced
with difficult decisions, and proved to be very indecisive. Also, there were times
where action needed to be taken, but he couldn t decide what to do. Even though I
learned Washington wasn t as great as the history books explain him to be, it makes
me respect him more to know that he, just like any other American, flawed.
One thing in the story that shocked me is how different our perception of the
Revolutionary War is from the reality. An example of this was how ill trained the
American army was at the beginning of the war. The army was undisciplined,
disobedient, and motivated only by their paychecks. Many perceive the soldiers as
valiant, zealous men, but it wasn t until much later in the war that the soldiers rose to
the occasion and became the warriors that we remember today.
Another thing that impressed me was
Kurt Lewin Model Of Change
Philosopher Heraclitus once said, There is nothing permanent in life except change
(retrieved from http://www.ancient.eu/Heraclitus_of_Ephesos/, n.d). The idea of
change is in the very nature of being. For everyday is different from the previous day.
Things change, they grow, they develop, they die, and something else shows up.
Changeis a state of transformation that can result in an ultimate shift in the way we
perceive and interact in our everyday lives and society. Everything around us is
changing with the passage of time. In this short reflection, I will use the Kurt Lewin
model of change to outline the important changes that have occurred in my life
during the last five years. The events that altered my life were coming to the U.S.,...

While on this journey, I started to reevaluate my goals and aspiration. That said,
before attending graduate school I wanted to become a forensic officer. In grad
school the idea of becoming a forensic officer started to slowly fade away. The
reason for this is that life is constantly changing and we are continually changing
along with it, every second, every minute and every hour. Life is the process of
endless development, achieving new heights, falling down and then learning how to
pick our selves up again. This is when we start noticing constant change. Change can
sometime refer to someone s action, perception, or even one s thoughts. Change is
the seed through we which we create ourselves, become more assertive or redefine
our worthiness in life. It enables us to develop a new self concept and identity (Schein,
Economic Growth And Foreign Direct Investment
Economic Growth and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
Introduction:
Economic growth and benefits of foreign direct investment depend on factors such as
the industry and the learning curve. Foreign direct investment (FDI) is, a controlling
ownership in a business enterprise in one country by an entity based in another
country. [1] There are three strategic types of FDI: Horizontal FDI, Platform FDI,
and Vertical FDI. The horizontal FDI is, when a firms duplicates its home country
based activates at the same value chain in a host country through FDI. Platform FDI
occurs when foreign direct investment from a source country into a destination
country for the purpose of exporting to a third country. Vertical FDI takes place
when a firm through FDI moves upstream or downstream in different value chains
i.e., when firms perform value adding activities stage by stage in a vertical fashion in
a host country. [1] It is a common belief that FDI increases local growth (economic
development); and the benefits come from transfer for technology and management
know how, introduction of new processes, and employee training. [2]
Analyzing various researches on the benefits of the FDI in different industry such as
the manufacturing and service, it appears that the benefits vary significantly between
the two. The main case for FDI (host country) is that it can positively affect the
development of the host country because of the direct financing it supplies and the
technology and management
War Of 1812 Dbq Outline
In the eyes of the American people, the War of 1812 was another fight for
independence from the British Empire, a negative influence on American politics and
livelihood throughout its first generation as a nation. By achieving victory in their
Revolution, they gained independence from the British Empire and established
sovereignty over themselves. Americans hoped to prosper in their new country free
of negative European influence, especially British. However, within two decades
Britain began to impress American citizens once again in over 6,000 instances, which
were presented to Congress by president Thomas Jefferson(Nevins). In addition to

The Results Of Raising The Dropout Age
Keys 1
The Results of Raising the Dropout Age
Obtaining an education is essential in today s society. Most students who attend
school on a regular basis usually succeed in life. On the other hand, many students
fail to attend school every day which can lead to problems in schools. However, some
students have acceptable reasons for dropping out. As a result, a student s punctuality
can ultimately alter his or her education. On that note, dropping out of high school
can affect an individual in many ways throughout the years. Schools are facing
challenges dealing with high dropout rates, high rates of truancy, and low graduation
rates because students are failing to attend school.
To begin with, dropping out of high school has caused a negative uprise leading to
high dropout rates. There are several effects of dropping out of school. Many students
have difficult experiences during their early lives. High school dropouts are more
likely to be from households where parents do not help their children with school.
Some students feel there is disconnect between themselves, their parents, and their
teacher; therefore, they end up dropping out of school. However, if parents and
teachers communicate with students, there is a higher chance that the students will
graduate and succeed. Many adults, who dropped out of school, regret dropping out.
Since the dropped out of school, life is not so easy for them. Suh initiates that the

  • 3. The New World Of Death I lie against the decrepit, rickety floorboards of our ship. I lie barely awake. The profuse thoughts that previously encircled me brought a weariness upon me. Bound by a profusion of apprehension and pity, all my comrades and I set out on this day for our homeland. I do not perceive Ithaca as being far away physically, albeit the mental endeavour seems as if it will carry into eternity, or until the end of the world. As if it cannot exist anymore, and reality becomes only a speck in a vast world of death. As if a whirlpool of thought, emotion, and sound are suddenly whisked away into a small funnel and absorbed elsewhere. A concept I can imagine, yes, but I cannot describe simply. It is a thing of imagination after all. Perhaps these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I forged on to exit the ship, I felt a warm presence behind me. Hermes swiftly. Hermes wore a glistening white cloak and held a shimmering, golden staff. My crew mates left the ship and trudged through the remaining, shallow sea, which was not a substantial amount. Odysseus, son of Laertes, o Master Mariner, almighty warrior and expert captain, I come to inform thee of this island you are about to ponder upon. On this island of Agapios lies a truly petrifying beast, one known as Karibrion. Winged and a flying master, it can also stand on the earth we stand on. Though it may seem friendly upon your first encounter, do not befriend it. You will only meet one, and there is a catch associated with this: the one you meet will give you food but eat seven of your men, or you can leave the island and search elsewhere in hopes of survival. Be careful, because they move so quickly, you may not notice at first that your men are missing. Their trickery is nothing to be tested. If it were me, I would stay here. It is the lesser of two evils. I did not have the time to thank the delicate, yet tricky soul of Hermes as he vanished away into the air. I could only imagine that one, likely the one recommended for me, was the lesser of two evils. Nevertheless, my crew, in front of me, waded through the little amount of water we had yet to maneuver about and washed up ashore. I followed ponderously in travail. The island was much more vast than I had imagined, and as I got closer
  • 4. The Performance Of Leonardo Dicaprio And Jonah Hill If you haven t seen The Wolf Of Wall street, a movie that hit fame in 2013, you should. The performance of Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill was incredible and original. Not only was it a great movie for all people (of a responsible age). It was a great movie for marketers. As I watched it I learned so much about marketingand getting your name out there. I also noticed during the entire duration of the film, they stated benefits of anything and everything it offers. The infamous Sell me this Pen , scene said it all. So that is what I am going to do today, I am going to sell you a pen. Well, I am not actually going to sell you a pen. I am going to sell you, me. First lets look at marketing in general. Marketing and advertising is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like the Sell this pen question has been around way before The Wolf of Wallstreet was around. No one wants to here the features of a product of service, those are the things that you can mention but not promote. We don t care how shiny or great the pen is, or if it is the top of the line pen. Those things do not provoke an emotion. The features provoke nothing. As marketers we need to gather information, respond to information well, deliver it and how you close it. In order to sell something as simple as a pen you have to show those skills I listed above. Gather information about the last time they used a pen, or if they use a pen and what kind. Make sure they understand the importance of how they needed that pen in their life. Sell something bigger than a pen. Sell them a life without a pen. How would they sign important memorable documents without a pen? Close them; ask for them to buy it. Once you create urgency in a product or service, they will buy it. Just like in The Wolf of Wall street, Leo says, sell me this pen . The other man says, Hand me the pen Do me a favor, write your name down on the napkin. Leo says, I can t I don t have a pen. The man says, Supply and demand. Leo needed the pen, the man had it. Hook, line and sinker. It is a simple process to understand. It is also simple to utilize. I am not going to sit here and talk about Leo and The Wolf of Wallstreet the entire time. Everyone has probably tried to

He was just three years old was just so painstakingly adorable. Maybe Nami was being baised, but she can t help but spoil her first born with loads of love. Did you need me, Kaa chan? Nami nodded sofly. I wanted you to meet someone special. She patted a small hand beside her indicating for her son to sit. Kyoya walked over to his mother. Nami knew Kyoya was exceptionally bright for his age. He took after his father intellectually, but in terms of appearance, Kyoya leaned heavily on her side of the family. It was like the boy was another version of Fon. Nami nodded and shifted from her red cheongsam. It was meant for maternity as it hung more loosely on the body while opening outwards at the bottom. The Lady Hibari liked to wear the traditional clothes of her country as it made her feel more at home that way. You re really smart Kyoya. Nami ruffled her son s hair and gave him a quick kiss on the crown on his head. I have special mission for you Kyoya. A special mission? Yes. Are you listening carefully? Kyoya gave a firm nod. All his determination was seen in his grey
  • 6. The Effect Of Temperature On The Duration Of Mitotic... ABSTRACT Plants are frequently subjected to a wide range of environmental temperatures that may affect the duration of mitotic stages. We investigated the influence of temperature on the duration of mitotic stages in the onion root tip squashes, Allium cepa, by counting the number of cells appearing in each stage of mitosis when exposed to conditions in room temperature and cold temperature. We found that the average number of cells in interphase increased with the decrease in temperature, and the rate of mitosis increased with an increase in temperature. Thus, the increased amount of cells in interphase compared to the amount of cells in other stages at the cold temperature could be the result of the higher activation energy required in situations of lower temperatures, decreasing the rate of respiration and slowing the process of mitosis. INTRODUCTION Plants are organisms that can reproduce sexually through meiosis and create more cells through mitosis (Russell et al. 2013). For studying mitosis, the common onion is an ideal choice. Because it is easy for onions to germinate without soil, it is easy to control any substances provided to the plant. The onion root tips are only a few cells thick and grow quickly making them ideal for time efficiency. The onion root tip needs to be squashed between the cover slip and the microscope in order to reduce the slide preparation s total depth. To dye condensed chromosomes, such as those undergoing mitosis, a stain is used to make
  • 7. Deep Ocean Deforestation 1. The extraction of oil is disruptive to the environment and can destroy natural habitats. 2. Another reason is the fact that deep sea drilling has the potential of exploding, leaking or spilling oil into the ocean. Accidents while transporting oil may also dump oil into the sea. 3. The seismic noise made from the deep sea drilling can disorient whales and other marine mammals, causing them to beach themselves. The death of whales is not only sad, but can also impact the delicate web of marine life. 1. Surface mining of coal causes direct and indirect damage to wildlife. Large gold mining companies will often secure land deals from the local governments, and in this process eject, often violently, the local indigenous population. Governments in these regions have been known to kill indigenous people for refusing to leave areas that have been sold to gold mining companies. c) Finally In the gold mining process, land must be cleared for mining. Clear cutting trees disrupts local ecosystems, causing animals to flee the area or perish. Also, when the chemicals used in gold mining make their way into the soil and the water, they disrupt the local wildlife by poisoning their sources of food and water. It is not unusual in gold mining for toxic chemicals to be simply dumped into local
  • 8. Sally Asimov Sally is a fictional story written in 1953 by Isaac Asimov about driverless cars that are capable of communicating. The story relates to the vehicles of today and the news articles of today. Both stories, Sally and the Newsela article, talk about driverless and cars that communicate with other cars, but only the Newsela article is based off of real life. Sororities and fraternities are becoming more prevalent in universities all across the nation. Today, there are over 9 million members of the Greek communities and the number is continuously growing each year ( Greek Life Statistics ). The terms fraternity and sorority describe groups of men and women who join together to offer fellowship, academic support, leadership training, participation in campus activities, service to the community and University, and preparation for future careers ( What is Greek Life? ). People that in are the Greek community all have at least one thing in common. Whether they just want to be apart of a sisterhood/brotherhood or deeper things like they all share a common belief or goal. Sororities have five basic benefits: sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, philanthropy (charitable causes /community service), and socializing ( About Sororities ). These benefits are included in the values and beliefs of a sorority as a discourse community. Greeks all speak a language that they learn in the process of becoming part of their fraternity/sorority(recruitment process). Agendas, e mails, and text messages are all forms of a genre. In Ethan Frome, cucumbers was the main icon in the novel. With Zeena, it was always shown as withering and dry. Zeena always went to bed as soon as she had her supper, and the shutterless windows of the house of the house were dark. A dead cucumber vine dangled from the porch like the crape streamer tied to the door for a death (Wharton 45). This represented how Ethan s love for Zeena was demolished, if there was any love to demolish. Mattie, on the other hand, was always compared to a new and lively pickle. She set the lamp on the table, and he saw that it was carefully laid for supper, with fresh doughnuts, stewed blueberries and his favourite pickles in a dish of gay red glass (Wharton 72). This showed how Ethan felt young and sprightly with Mattie. There was even a scene in the book where the cat, Zeena s most loyal companion, jumped on the table and broke the pickle dish, which was a wedding gift to Ethan and Zeena. The cat, profiting by this unusual demonstration, tried to effect an unnoticed retreat, and in doing so backed into the pickle dish, which fell to the floor with a crash (Wharton 74). The scene demonstrated that Zeena and Ethan s marriage (the pickle dish) was devastated, no longer can be stable. In The Age of Innocence, flowers were a significant figure as well. While Newland and May were betrothed, Newland would send lilies to May every morning. When Ellen and Newland became more at ease with each other, he started sending her flowers as well. However, Ellen received yellow roses, not lilies. Both symbols showed how both Ethan and Newland are growing their love for their wives cousins, but when looked closely, they both gave an entirely different meaning. The cucumbers presented how Ethan s affection to Zeena was vanished and was with Mattie. This varies from Newland s dilemma because he still loved May and Countess Olenska, but

Conventionally, it is believed that newspapers have more readers than any other kind of written text. According to Van Dijk (1986), for most citizens, news is perhaps the type of written discourse with which they are confronted most frequently (p. 156). In the newspaper it is the headline that has the highest readership. It summarizes the content of a story, and entices an audience into reading the article. A large part of the U.S. income relies on the money that is made from the selling of goods and service to consumers. Also, if the U.S. were to stop importing goods, they would have to start making them themselves. This may create more jobs for U.S. workers, however consumers may pay the price. • 29. Cultural Conflicts In Nicaragua Introduction While China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, and immigration have dominated international news, clashes between the government and protesters have resulted in 145 dead and thousands injured (Agence France Presse, 2018, para. 5) during the bloodiest disturbance in Nicaragua since the 1980 s (Associated Press, 2018, para. 11). A missionary evacuated from the region in May succinctly expressed the frustrations of many over the lack of impetus of other nations to condemn the rampant violence and human rights violations that have become common place in this conflict (R. Caiazzo, personal communication, June 5, 2018). Analysis Addressing cultural conflicts begins by mastering the story behind the problem (Patterson, Grenny, Maxfield, McMillan, Switzler, 2013). Hauk and Mueller (2015) suggest three variables common to such stories; the cultural leaders, the cultural perspectives, and the incentives that compel each group to engage or disengage in negotiation. Understanding these components offers insights to open potential doors to negotiate an acceptable resolution. • 30. Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an increase in the number of different communication standards each requiring its own specific hardware and processing. Our project addresses the need for radio interoperability with these various standards through the development of hardware generators for a software defined radio (SDR) system. These hardware generators will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction language. When given a set of parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will automatically output circuit designs for the given application thereby accelerating the hardware design process and introducing a new method for multi standard support. Specifically, our team will focus on the development of generators for the system s beamforming and MIMO blocks. For this reporting period, our team was responsible for updating our previous CORDIC block for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset correction (CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC block is simply a set of hardware efficient algorithms capable of performing hyperbolic and trigonometric calculations without the use of a hardware multiplier. By avoiding use of hardware multipliers, the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates required to perform these trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area in exchange for less accuracy. The work breakdown for this task is depicted in the diagram below (see Figure 1). This task

Operation Argo And The Killing Of Osama Bin Ladin Essay Introduction: The Central Intelligence Agency, hereafter referred to as the CIA, is one of the most well known and fascinating intelligence agencies throughout the world. For the most part, when the CIA comes up in the news, it is to report that the agency failed in doing something. This paper will analyze different successes and failures of well known operations of the CIA. The successes that will be analyzed are Operation Argo and the killing of Osama Bin Ladin. Operation Argo has recently become well known due to a movie being released about the operation. The killing of Osama Bin Ladin is probably the most popular case that the CIA had completed due to its significance in a time when the United States was quite vulnerable. This paper will review these two successes of the agency and analyze how these missions were successful and why. The two failures that will be discussed are the attacks on September 11, 2001 and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 are crucial to the American people and to the Intelligence Community. It is important to analyze these attacks in order to figure out what, if anything, could have been done differently that may have prevented these attacks from occurring. The Bay of Pigs Invasion is an infamous failure of the United States as well as the CIA in which many mistakes were made. The CIA plays an essential role in the safety of the United States and its people. Due to its high importance, it is crucial to

Two sources that dive deeper into this idea are The Reluctant Fundamentalist, by Mohsin Hamid, and Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee. In The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Hamid uses the main character Changez to show the struggles of being a Pakistani American in the 9/11 era of America. This acknowledgment of patriotism shows that Changez felt his culture was overwhelmed and belittled by America s response to the attacks. Changez s feelings of lack of identity in American culture was not just felt by him, in a qualitative study called Understanding the experiences of discrimination in Muslim Americans post 9/11 , Dr. Zaman questioned other Middle Eastern Americans about how their identity changed by living in America after 9/11. One lady responded by saying I just don t feel that Americans accept me as an American. They look at me, or people with a similar background, that we re some outsiders intruding their country (Zaman 82). By using the quote, Dr. Zaman shows how other people of the Middle Eastern minorities felt detached in American society after 9/11. This patriotic response made it hard for individuals just like Changez to have a sense of belonging in the American mainstream culture of post 9 /11. Even through all the persecution that faced Changez after 9/11, he was still able to make a successful use of non violent activism to fight for a sense of identity in the mainstream culture.

For a long time, scientists have been studying their status, distribution, and seasonal abundance through strandings. NOAA s National Marine Fisheries Services defines a stranding as a marine mammal found dead on shore, alive on shore but unable to return to the water, or in a foreign habitat and unable to return to its own habitat without assistance (http://www.ifaw.org/united states/our work/animal rescue/faqs about strandings). Cetaceans use echolocation to make sense of their world and has only recently been of concern due to the ability of dolphins to locate objects and discriminate objects based on size, shape, and composition (Akamatsu, Nakaqawa, Hatakeyama, 1995). Any disturbance in the form of sound pollution could cause these cetaceans to mass strand because they are so dependent on sound as their principal sense (Nowacek et al. 2007). Sound travels very efficiently underwater and so impacted areas can affect thousands of square kilometers out. Most of the sound pollution in the ocean come from underwater explosions caused by sonar, seismic testing caused by oil and gas industries, or underwater sea quakes through natural events. The anthropogenic noises can cause deep diving populations like beaked whales to be threatened and abandon their habitat and surface rapidly. Exposure to anthropogenic sounds negatively affect deep diving cetaceans (Cox et al. 2006). There are a number of hypotheses for the injuries in the cetaceans that stranded in areas of sonar exercises like decompression sickness and behavioral

Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez used this analogy to convey his thoughts about his community in the short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings (Enormous). The novel followed a similar pattern of all his juvenile novels aimed at male adolescents, focusing on the science of science fiction whilst following youthful education stories and supporting an optimistic vision of space conquest (Melin, 2010). Critics took issue with the attitude that his young protagonists portrayed, calling Heinlein s political views strongly authoritarian and fascist. On the other hand, Verhoeven s ideology is exactly the opposite. Rather than downplaying these fascist elements of Heinlein s novel, Verhoeven decides to play them up, giving the film s incipient Nazism an admiring positive spin (Cass, 1999, p. 56), hence mocking the very nature of Heinlein s novel. In his adaptation, Verhoeven gets away with cheeky, sometimes savage, parody of patriotism with campy enthusiasm, blatant and black humour and a cast of bugs, which steal the picture under the noses of the scrubbed and brainwashed teenage troopers. • 38. Environmentalism And Poverty Market Liberals focus on economic growth and believe in an unregulated free market system with the ability to self regulate through consumer demand. They believe that environmental damages that may stem from economic growth will be corrected once a society is economically satisfied (wealthy) and shift their focus away from financial need. In my opinion, the problem with this philosophy is that in a society that uses overconsumption as a way of comparing wealth and sometimes self worth, the planet would likely be completely depleted of all resources before this group is satisfied. Additionally they don t really have a clear plan for how to alleviate poverty because they blame the existence of poverty on political failures and over regulation. Market liberals tend to minimize environmental impact and claim poverty is the main contributor to environmental degradation. Institutionalists have similar beliefs to market liberals; however, they focus on the need for institutions to regulate economies and the environment to ensure resources are managed in a way that does not compromise the needs of future generations. They believe we still have time to address our environmental problems. Institutionalists focus on improving living standards while improving the environment (for humans). Bioenvironmentalists focus on environmental health, believe the earth has a limited carrying capacity and that humans are near or already exceeding it. Overconsumption and population are viewed as

Supreme Court felt as though children who were not able to receive education and who were denied the right to education would be drastically harmed throughout their lifetime which is why this case was passed. Many of these undocumented citizens came from Mexico, primarily from Texas and California. The two cases set the stage for immigration into the United States. Prior to these two cases, many people were turned away because they knew little to know English and were seen useless in the United States. This goes against multiculturalism because these minority groups were not treated with the same respect and were viewed as inferior to the dominant culture which was English. McCullough shows the importance of this battle by describing multiple American victories that followed, such as the Battles of Princeton and Fort Lee.
