Joint Commission Case Study
The joint commission states that the videotaping of patients is allowed only when informed
consent has been given and signed. There are extenuating circumstances that fall out of this
spectrum, namely when a patient is unable to sign a consent form. In some respects video
monitoring a patient could prove beneficial in saving their life as well as other individual s lives.
A hospital then may video a patient only in scenarios that involve life threatening aspects. Other
than this type of patient, any videotaping must be made aware to the patient and his approved by
her/him. A confidentiality form must also be signed educating the patient on the uses of the tape
and who will be viewing it. The monitoring of patients on a 24/7 basis for one

Richard Benjamin Speck Personality Traits
Richard Benjamin Speck was born in Kirkwood, Illinois December of 1941. In 1966 Speck
seized the hearts of many after slaughtering eight female nursing students who live in Chicago.
Speck had a tattoo on his arm and it said BORN TO RAISE HELL . He has had a history of
violence against woman, because of his hatred for his mother. After his killing spree in 1966,
there was said to be a manhunt that lead to his arrest two days later. Speck went to prison and died
at the age of 49 years old by way of a heart attack (Edward, 2007). Serial killers have been identified
by Hickey Simon, 2002, as a Caucasian male between the ages of 20 and 39 years old. There
personalities exhibit psychopathic behaviors, pleasure seeking outlook on life as well as lack of
morality when they do something that is violent (Hickey Simons, 2002). The upbringing of serial
killers is steady with these characteristics. Serial killers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Richard Speck fits in the Hedonistic killer subtype, he seems to have murdered for the thrill of
it. Speck received such a rush from raping and murdering his victims because of the pleasure he
would filled afterwards. As a child he was very close to his father. His father passed way when
Speck was only 6 years old, this prompts him to rebel and become emotionally disconnected
from any and every one that was in his life. After his father s death he began to deviate to
behaviors that are associated with toddler like conduct. Eating crayons in class and cry to get
attention from his teacher so that he would be made the center of attention. When he became a
teenager his violent outburst became out of control. He was accused of holding a woman at knife
point but she got a way. He was married at the age of 16 and became abusive to his wife shortly
after marriage because of his speculations of her

Project Control Methods For Control The Project
Part 9. Project Control Describe the methods that you would use in order to control the project. (1
paragraph)
First and foremost, the project scope must be controlled. The entire reason for applying the scope
control process is to locate and direct the parts of the project that could increase or decrease beyond
what has already been determined in the original approved project scope plan. The next control
method needed would be scheduling and is one of the most challenging but essential needs within
project control. The project schedule can be impacted by many issues, such resources, funding,
material, weather, my health and on and on. Further, risk control would include accomplishing the
risk management plan to reply to risk events over the time frame of the project. It must be
remembered that even the most the most exhaustive and inclusive examination cannot possibly
recognize all risks and probabilities completely in a project. So using project tools, like
workarounds, will be necessary. Workarounds are unplanned on reactions to a risk event and are,
at best, short term solutions. Finally, cost controls would be vital to this project. A project could go
over budget for many causes and frequently it is not just one item but the cascade of small many
increases that combined to affect a budget failure.
Part 10. Project Closeout Describe the tasks that you would need to complete in order to close out
the project. (1 paragraph) Since this is a home improvement project,

What Is The Theme Of Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock s intense, complex shocking thriller, Psycho (1960) is the mother of all
advanced suspence movies, it bravely introduced a time of sub par screen slashers with blood
draining and realistic, stunning killings. While this was Hitchcock s first genuine horror movie, he
was erroneously named as a horror filmdirector from that point onward. The nightmarish, worrying
film s subjects of corruptibility, confounded characters, voyeurism, human vulnerabilities and
exploitation, the savage impacts of cash, Oedipal murder, and dull past histories are sensibly
revealed. Its themes were uncovered through rehashed employments of themes, for example, birds,
eyes, hands, and mirrors. Psychoadditionally broke all film traditions by showing its driving female
hero having a lunchtime affair relationship in her attractive white underpants in the first scene
which shows the loss of innocence; likewise by capturing a toilet bowl and flush in a restroom (a
first in an American film), and killing off its significant star Janet Leigh33% of the path into the film

The expert of suspence skillfully controls and guides the crowd into relating to the primary
character, luckless vicim Marion (a Phoenix land secretary), and after that with that character s
killer an insane and tentative taxidermist named Norman. Hitchcock s systems voyeuristically
involve the audience with the widespread, dark evil powers and insider facts show in the film.
After the killing of the leading actress the investigator is also shown being killed, that means in
Hitchcock movie death is shown normally as a part of life, no matter why, what and where. In the
same way as other of Hitchcock s movies, Psycho is so extremely layered and complex that
various viewings are important to catch every last bit of its

Boogie Nights Essay
Boogie Nights
Boogie Nights is a film that aptly embodies the extravagant decadence of morals during the disco
era, while also creating empathy for the debauched innocents who find themselves caught up in a
lifestyle of hard core sex, drugs and rock and roll. Sadly, while attempting to replace the loving
family relationships they are lacking and in their search for self worth, these characters pay the
highest price for fame. The film deftly takes the viewer to the seedy underside of the pornography
business. But, like many of the young people who find themselves entangled in it, it is first
introduced as a life of each and luxury with many good times and no consequences. The film
portrays the life of a unique young man who gives himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jack leaves Dirk with an open invitation to join him because as he says, I have a feeling there s
something wonderful in those jeans just waiting to get out.
Boogie Nights is wonderfully written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and succeeds in
introducing in its viewer to a new perspective on a world often viewed socially with scorn. After
subtly choreographing the introduction of the relationships between characters, the film then
highlights a slice of each individual s life, giving the viewer a further insight into their motivations
and/or regrets. Each character is searching for something that is missing in their lives, and the
pornography business seems to provide them with what they are lacking. This is evidenced when
Dirk s need for a loving mother figure is fulfilled by Amber, who desperately wants to be reunited
with her estranged son.
Amber (Julianne Moore), a veteran in the business, quickly takes Dirk under her protective
maternal wing by providing him with something he has never had, the unconditional love of a
mother. Amber s maternal displays of affection are incestuously infected at best, but they still
manage to portray a deep and much needed love between the two. Young Dirk is given every
indulgence a 17 year old boy could dream of, including the invitation to mindlessly couple with one
of the bright young porn stars, Roller

The Relationship between Academic Obstacles and Facilitators
University students make up a large population in most countries and may be the most important
individual s part of a society; as they constitute of future professionals and degree obtainers. The
life of a student is very different to other age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and
pressurised as the importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened
because of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well being
of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health needs to be taken
into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The purpose of this essay is to assess the
relationship between academic obstacles and facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic
performance, as well as how it may affect the well being of the student.
When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam time or when
assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to manage their time properly
in order to get their work done on time, or simply not being able to cope with the nature of the
work. It is argued that students who are experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in
their studies (Salanova, Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel
exhausted will experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards
their work. While those who have positive feelings

Some of the groups of segmentation that Topshop might use are geographical, demographic,
psychographic and behaviouristic segmentation (also known as consumer profile).
There are different reasons that business need to segment their markets carefully, this is because
customers vary, so creating various segments will provide customers with better solutions. It can
bring better opportunities and growth for the business.
The key thing that Topshop to do is find the variable, or variables that split the market into
segments. There are two types of variables:
Needs
Profilers
The need for segmenting a market is customer needs. To achieve this market research is needed.
Profilers are measurable, discriptive customer characteristics like; age , gender, income etc.
Geographical segmentation:
Region of the country
Urban or rural (location)
Demographical segmentation
Age, sex, family size
Income, occupation, education

Starbucks Case Analysis Essay
I ve chosen the Starbucks Corporation on which to do my case assignment for the session. I first
became interested in Starbucks while working on a paper for a previous marketing class. I became
intrigued at the entrepreneurial spirit that such a large corporation had managed to maintain
throughout its massive expansion. Starbucks corporation, unlike many of its now defunct rivals,
has done an outstanding job since its meager beginnings in 1970 with the execution of its strategic
process; resulting in it currently owning 40% of the specialty coffee market and boosting annual
sales exceeding $7 billion according to Burt Helm. Historic successes and recent turmoil within the

Essentially what Falletta is saying is that by determining what or where an organization is at, as
far as infrastructure, procedures, leadership, etc. its leadership can determine what changes need
to be made to achieve the desired objectives. Another important benefit of conducting analysis is
that Diagnosis confirms that a problem actually exists (Faletta 3). In conducting such an
analysis, a business can search out the underlying or root causes and then use this information to
inform members on how to make the necessary changes. A third point to consider is to look at
the business as one whole entity and not the sum of its individual parts. Faletta states that
business analysis should occur similar to the medical profession in which a physician takes a
holistic view of the patient. They do not simply look at a runny nose and bad cough and think
that there must be a problem with the individual s nose and lungs. They look at all symptoms,
how they are related, and what course of action is required to remedy all associated symptoms of a
common cold. A final important reason to conduct analysis is to determine if the changes made to
the organization are actually working. Mavis Gallant once stated, Success can only be measured in
the terms of distance traveled . Such is the case with business, unless the business knows its starting
point, it can have no way to determine if it s

Electoral College Voting System
It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the
winner of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the
Electoral College votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because
of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections.
In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice
President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which
ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the
creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties.

The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co
A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their
audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but
then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is
also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money
they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of
torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the
United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement.
Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments.
The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the
investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and
Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to
succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant
Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by
the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. Now I will analyse if those three cases are
likely to be happened in this situation. In relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that

The At San Francesco Or Collegio La Salle
If you are from Gejeret then you might just as well remember where Gejretians found refuge in
1975. I was one of those who took refuge at San Francesco or Collegio La Salle, which was
administered by the Kerenite Fratelli, Fr. Michael, Fr. Kahsay, and Fr. Demsas. Later on, I heard
Fr. Demsas joined the struggle but I ve no information if he made it to Independence Day. Also,
rumor had it that afterwards, Fr. Misghina quit the La Salle seminary, got married and left for
Sweden. And there is more of such news.
The year 1975 ushered a turbulent and terrible times for Asmara residents who hitherto escaped
the ugliness of the raging terror that was being carried out by the Derg. Most people from Gejeret
stayed at home during daytime, and at night moved to La Salle to spend the night. Usually in the
late afternoon, most of the people packed necessary supplies, took along mattress and blankets, and
bagged other items, and headed to La Salle to spend the night. After some time, that became the
daily routine, people were convinced it was the only way to evade falling victim and face the
unimaginable cruelty and looting in the hands of the Derg security forces, the Tor Serawti who
became extremely active during the night.
Two safe places became safe havens for the residents of Gejeret: San Francesco and La Salle. They
offered relative security and peaceful night. Meanwhile, many residents of Asmara trekked to the
countryside around Asmara where they found refuge. The rural areas

Copper Iodide Synthesis Lab Report
Before the synthesis of the Copper Iodine Compound, the identities provided (CuNO3)2 and Nal
weighed 1.65 g and 4.7 g, respectively. After being weighed, the (CuNO3)2 exhibited a blue color,
while the Nal, through observation, was a white color. However, when both identities were
combined, the product turned into a brown and red rocky material. Once 20 mL of deionized water
was added, the product quickly turned pale pinkpaste. After the solution was repeatedly washed
with a total of an additional 100 mL of deionized water, the product was powdery and pink with
small grains, and was left to air dry. Once the product was air dried, it was observed to be a pale
pink color, while the filter paper was stiff as the product was hard and dry. Therefore, the solid
was scraped off onto a recrystallizing dish. However, the mass of an empty recrystallizing dish
needed to be recorded in order to compare how much of the synthesized copper iodide was
obtained. Within this case, the empty recrystallizing dish used weighed 32.01 g, the product on the
empty dish weighed 1.03 g, having a total weight of 33.04 g.
Subsequently, two porcelain crucibles were used, weighed, and heated for about 10 minutes and
then placed into a desiccator to cool. The two empty porcelain crucibles were first heated because
the heat would vaporize any impurities that were originally on the crucible. The first crucible

Cultural Differences Between North And South America
The cultures of both Americas are deeply rooted in the past colonization by the Europeans,
Portuguese, and French. Both North and South America have been heavily influenced by
colonization and slavery in language, religion, and immigration. The Europeans and French in both
the United States and Canada had been inhabited by the Indigenous or the First Nation who had not
only their culture wiped out; but, their entire people group slaughtered by European diseases.
Though slavery and genocide binds these two realms, the differences in the Americasare intriguing
on how they impact these places. In North Americathe language is universally English; however,
this is a revolving door due to immigration. Per the American Community Survey in 2011 230
million Americans spoke English, Spanish 37.58 million, Chinese 2.88 million, French 2.05
million, and Tagalog 1.59 million (Census Bureau, 2011). With a realm like North America that
strives to assimilate immigrants that come into the realm, the realm is steadily becoming more of a
culturally pluralistic one. The realm has been impacted in spirituality, diet, organic farming, and

people; for those who lived in Hong Kong in 2002 2003, images that spring up would almost
invariably be of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the epidemic known to man as SARS in
short. Sharing with us the three letter acronym (SAR) which was given to us by our leaders in
China, this ordeal has left its mark on our city in more ways than one. It had caused a widespread
wave of mysophobia and health consciousness among the Hong Kong people, which outlasted the
SARS epidemic but is probably slowly waning. It has also raised the awareness of the government
of the importance of the control of infectious diseases, both in the community and in the clinical
setting. Most importantly, SARS showed us what works and what needs improving in terms of
infection control in the event of a major epidemic.
Originally starting in November 2002 in Guangdong Province of China, the SARS coronavirus
has since infected as many as 8422 persons worldwide, with a total of 1755 patients infected,
among which 300 unfortunately succumbed to this disease. (1) Apart from being a major
epidemic in the medical history of Hong Kong and a health threat of global concern, another
aspect of SARS worth noting is the occurrence of nosocomial outbreaks. SARS was the cause of
nosocomial outbreaks in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. (2) The impact of
nosocomial outbreak in an epidemic such as SARS

Sertraline Essay
Sertraline (brand name: Zoloft) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Sertraline affects
chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression, panic, anxiety, or
obsessive compulsive symptoms. Zoloft is among the most commonly prescribed antidepressant
medications. It is used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive
disorder, PMDD, and PTSD.
The history of this drug starts with tametraline. Tametraline is the parent of a series of chemical
compounds investigated at Pfizer that eventually led to the development of sertraline. It was
officially approved by the FDA in 1991. In 2002, Zoloft was approved for use in children and

Urinary Tract Infections ( Cautis )
Background and Significance
Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are caused by transmission of bacteria to the
urinary tract via the urinary catheter during catheter insertion, via the catheter lumen, or by
handling of the catheter drainage bag (Mori, 2014). Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for
about 35% of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and about 80% of the UTIs are related to the
presence of indwelling urinary catheter (IUC). CAUTIs are a significant problem affecting the
patients as well as the health care system as they are linked with increased morbidity and mortality,
increased health care expenses, and extended hospitalization (Gould, 2015).
CAUTIs can result to patient s complications such urethritis, urethral strictures, bloody urine,
bladder obstruction and sepsis. In addition, the catheter drainage bag may be a reservoir of
pathogens that can result to more critical HAIs (Apostolopoulou, 2015). Approximately 13,000
deaths are associated with UTIs every year. A total health care cost of approximately $0.4 $0.5
billion is spent for CAUTI incidences and it s complications in the United States annually. The
length of hospital stay related to CAUTIs extends from two to four days (Gould, 2015).
As of October 1st, 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began
withholding reimbursement to hospitals for treatment of HAIs including the CAUTIs. The duration
of the catheter use has been identified as a major risk factor for

Grass-Fed Butter Research Paper
Grass feed butter is butter from cows that have been grazing on their natural diet of grass, rather
than grains. Because of that, this butter is a nutrient dense butter, and if you eat butter, this is the
type you should be eating.
Cows that were eating rapidly on growing green grass are known to produce K2( Activator X) in
their system. This is an important vitamin that many of modern day diet missing.
One thing to keep in mind, the season does effects the nutrient content of butter. In the warm months
when grass is growing rapidly, the butter is a deeper yellow color, which means more nutrients in it.
And during the cold months tends to have a lighter color, meaning they have fewer nutrients.

1. Introduction: FMECA is a methodology to identify and analyse predicted failure modes of
various parts within the assembly or system. It is a technique to resolve potential problems in a
system before they occur. It is most widely used reliability analysis technique performed between
the conceptual and initial stage of the detailed design phase of the system in order to assure that all
the potential failures have been considered and the proper provisions have been made to eliminate
these failures. [1] (Ref. system reliability theory,2nd edition, Marvin Rausand) this technique can

i. Stub axle: stub axle whose main function is to be a hostage of the wheel may be deformed due to
high fatigue stress induced due to the repetitive compressive load on upper edge and tensile on

failure is either wearing off the rolling element, or misalignment of bearing which is a result of
failure of bearing spacer. The system effect due to this is difficulty in cornering the vehicle, harsh

How Did Egypt Contribute To Western Civilization
The Ancient Egyptian civilization played a major role in the development of western civilization.
Possibly the biggest contributions it has made came from their culture, their art, and religion.
Without these contributions, modern societies might not have been as advanced as they are today.
Ancient Egyptmade a lot of cultural contributions to the western world through writing, architecture,
agriculture, and astronomy. With the invention of hieroglyphics, the Egyptians were able to leave
behind stories of their culture in creative symbols. Though not as advanced as modern day writing,
it was a step above glyphs, and two steps above pictographs and ideograms. This would also be
another stepping stone to the invention of cuneiform and eventually

Cache And Various Mapping Technique
Abstract This paper begins with the discussion about cache and various mapping technique. Then
we shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging
request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the
primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique
intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in
RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memoryhierarchy.
This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various
categories of cachemisses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher
performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization
techniques.

bridge the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable
cost. It maintains the locality of information and support the reduction of average access time. The
address mapping converts physical address to the cache address. But when it comes to virtual
memory systems, swapping turns out to be the greatest factor for reduce in performance. Disk

The Darden Restaurant is a multi brand restaurant operator. They have over 1,800 restaurants that
include Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and LongHorn Steakhouse. The chains make more than $7

This is due in part to the success from targeting different customers through distinct restaurant
formats. Darden has created a successful marketingmix based on the 4Ps. In terms of price, there is
much variety depending on the type of restaurant. For a casual restaurant it is generally between
$15 to $20 a plate and the fine dining is about $30 to $40 a plate. The pricing is fairly priced for

The Psychographic segmentation is based on social class, lifestyle, or personality characteristics.
This type of segmentation can be viewed as the stylistic restaurant Olive Garden. The marketing
strategy behind this restaurant is based upon how customers are as interested in emotional
nourishment as they are in physical nourishment. The style of the restaurant invites a consumer to
be part of the Italian family. The concept of the restaurant relates to the lifestyles desired by the
customer to be part of a family. Lastly, behavioral segmentation is when a market is divided into
segments based on consumer knowledge or attitude toward a product. For Darden, a behavioral
segmentation would be how often the restaurants are being frequented or used to help determine
where a profitable business market should be located.
Another concept that relates to Darden s style of marketing is how they differentiate and position
their products for maximum competitive advantage. Darden has done an effective job of doing
this. The brands are well differentiated and positioned. The corporate name is kept very low
profile that most people don t realize there is a common ownership behind the restaurants. The
company also did well to find many different types of niche markets that allows for a wide offering

why we have them. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100

During this stage, many people experience sudden muscle contractions preceded by a sensation
of falling. In stage 2, eye movement stops and brain waves become slower with only an
occasional burst of rapid brain waves. When a person enters stage 3, extremely slow brain
waves called delta waves are interspersed with smaller, faster waves. In stage 4, the brain
produces delta waves almost exclusively. Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta
sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye
movement or muscle activity. This is when some children experience bedwetting, sleepwalking
or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after someone has fall asleep. The
first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets longer, and the final one may

Music Can Affect Human Behavior
Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to
maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently
happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as
a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use
prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to
expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an
individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place.
Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information.
One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate
events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However,
the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling
novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively
unstudied.
Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold,
Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain
and the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension
(Fagen et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has

Comparing and Contrasting Juror 3 and Juror 8 from Twelve...
In the play Twelve Angry men , the story line presents a variety of perspectives and opinions
between twelve very different men. Some are more likely to be pointed out as prejudice, and

Juror 3 was basing his failed relationship with his son on the accused boy. The reason that he had
such a bad relationship with his son is because when the boy was young, he ran away from a
fight and Juror 3 said: I m going to make a man out of you or I m going to bust you up into little
pieces trying . Later on, when his son was older, they got into a fight and Juror 3 hasn t seen him

granted, and that they deserve severe punishments. Juror 3 is not the type to provide the sharpest

victim. Juror 8 practically gives nothing away about his real life, probably because he did not
want to add his own prejudices to the case. Juror 3 gave both his ill mannered personality and
bigotry away in the play.
Indeed, Juror 3 and 8 have individual outlooks on the case, but I believe that even between these

Effects Of Imagination Inflation
Imagination Inflation
Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an
experienced event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a
complete false memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that
imagination can be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect,
performed actions versus imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability
to imagine other people s behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006).
The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary,
2005). During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning,
Loftus, Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain
events as a child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how
and when some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI
questionnaire again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have
been lost. This paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident
and believing that certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a
false memory (Leding 2012). Other studies support the imagination inflation paradigm by
validating that individual s confidence increases because of imagining an event (Heaps

The Way Of Self Regulation
The way self regulation occurs will change over time based off of what culture the child lives in.
For instance, crying is an acceptable form of self regulation for a baby, but not for a teenager so
the teenager must find another way to self regulate when a challenge pops up (neurons to
neighborhoods). A part of self regulation (which falls under the emotional part of self regulation)
that is very important for infants to develop is effortful control, or how well the infantcan prevent
impulses, cope with negative emotions, and behave in a way that is socially acceptable (Berk). It
also predicts conscience, empathy, guilt, and low aggression, and gives children the ability to do
something else when they are affected negatively so they aren t overwhelmed. Low effortful control
is a consistent predictor of externalizing problems (temperament and personality, Rothbart). Infants
show that they are beginning to obtain emotional self regulation around 12 18 months (Berk). With
this evidence it is very obvious that self regulation is an important part of development. If a child
isn t able to learn how to self regulate, he/she would not be able to learn important motor abilities, or
have the capacity to deal properly with emotions. The best way children learn how to self regulate
is by watching, interacting, and learning from others. This, and other things, are what determine
that relationships with others are essential for healthy development. Early relationships are different

Tale Of Two Cities Inhumanity Essay
In France, the years between 1789 and 1799 were a time of thoughtless inhumanity and brutality
toward fellow man. These inhumane acts are carried through the by Revolutionaries and the
nobility of France in these years and the years leading up to the French Revolution. The best
illustration of the inhumanity felt and shown during this time is A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles
Dickens. Dickens uses metaphors as symbols throughout this book to exemplify his theme of
thoughtlessness toward people from other people. Dickens develops these metaphors throughout
the novel and manipulates them to fit different circumstances. He uses every day objects and ideas
and makes them personifications of the Revolution and their unsympathetic mindsets and agendas.
The symbols of the scarecrows and the birds of fine song and feather, the sea, and the wine

The Special Problem Of Doing Right
Within the articles The Special Problem of Doing Right in Our Occupations, Suggestions for an
Ethical Career, and Promoting Ethical Behavior numerous concepts are discussed which
explore morality in general for any profession. These concepts range from personal integrity to
how we should treat others and why we should or should not act in certain manners. Since these
articles cover such a broad range of topics, the purpose of this paper shall be to isolate the three
main points found in each paper, then explain and build upon these points. In addition, this will
allow for easier and more concise analysis of the articles core principles. Given these points, the
most suitable method for this paper to accomplish this task is to explore the media pieces
individually while making comparisons as needed. Below this point the critiques and analysis of
the three papers start. Article 1: The Special Problem of Doing Right in Our Occupations When
employees become complacent in their occupations, there is the possibility that their moral
values might deteriorate or waver due to competing internal or external interests. This seemingly
casual bending of morals might have no impacts at first, but it can quickly become a very
serious issue. Whether it is watching a coworker take a box of paperclips home or adding gas
miles for leisure trips to their business expenses, it all starts with an employee s personal value and
their level of respect and integrity. If these

Girls Bodies Girls Bodies Analysis
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. At least, that s what is taught to believe at an early age.
Elline Lipkin, however, holds fast to the understanding that as true as that saying may be, there
are outside forces that are intent on readjusting our vision to true beauty : the kind that can be
bought off the shelves. In her article, Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and
Sexuality , Lipkin employs several different external resources to help demonstrate her belief that
young girls ( Before they even abandon their teddy bears... (Para 2)) definition of their own
appearance is polluted and distorted by the vastly massive world that is the American media.
Besides pulling from other articles and fact sheets, she also effectively utilizes a clearly logical train
of thought, an operative tone, and countless examples of emotional appeal.... Show more content on

This may seem a basically simple task, though her spin and the overall diction she uses to
describe what she sees in the first few sentences suggest what will follow. For example, ...slender
body, flawless (and more often than not white) skin; delicate, even facial features enhanced by
makeup, carefully coifed hair... Para 2). She then provides anecdotes from teens regarding their
own body image before delving into the beginning of the 20th century, where she draws upon
Brumberg s 1997 book, The Body Project. An Intimate History of American Girls ; a starting
point for the conversation ahead. Lipkin then begins a chronicle of certain diseases associated
with poor body image followed by the response of a specific cosmetic branding company. Lipkin
closes her article by not providing a clear solution to the problem, but rather reinforcing the idea that
women are seen as, ...both bait and targets... (Para

Compare And Contrast The Interlopers And To Build A Fire
Many different stories have many similarities and differences, this is what brings two stories
together or splits them apart. The interlopers and To build a fire have many different similarities
with a few differences here and there. The interlopers is about two men with a bad past through
family generations. The Von Gradwitz family and the Znaeym family has had feuds through their
families for the past three generations over a bit of land and who the ownership belonged to. Both
men were traveling through the woods when nature decided now would be a good time to be
against them. A storm occurred striking a tree in the process trapping the two men when it had
fallen. Throughout the story the two men argue, come up with a survival plan, and make amends,
but sadly doesn t make it when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Interlopers the man changed by forgiving and becoming friends with his enemy, which
showed that he changed as a person and chose to be the bigger person. In To build a fire the man
didn t change and was still naive when he went out into Alaska by himself and chose not to take
anyone with him. This showed that he wanted to do things himself while the character in The
Interlopers decided to ask for forgiveness so that his men could help the other man also. Along
with this both stories had strong characters, the interlopers had a man who did everything he
could to survive the freezing weather, even if that meant putting the dog s life before his, and in
To build a fire the man went over his own ego to make friends with his enemy to try to survive
but sadly didn t. But in the end both characters died even if they were caused by different deaths.
At the end of the story To build a fire the man froze to death but with him his ego and naiveness it
got the best of him. The interlopers the men died from getting eaten by

Nt1320 Unit 8
This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency
Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out.
So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own
voice signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because
we as human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak
in a group we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a
computer to distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own
frequency of speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ...

So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is
quite hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the
crosses and for the speaker 2 and both of the data points don t coincide. What we are using here
for matching is vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word.
Let me show you the user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the
crosses show the speaker 5 points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we
calculate the centroid values is the main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the
mean and it is splitted in two parts and orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean
is calculated for both the areas and the process goes on and on an in the end for comparison
purposes these centroid values their distances are calculated and those found with the minimum
distances their match is found with the user. Likewise here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where
red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the speakers and similarly for these speakers
the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum distance is found

The Effects Of Youtube On The Content Creators And Their...
The website YouTube, consisting of the term You in it s name, was originally developed to foster
individual creativity and visual expression through grass roots and community run content (Cloud
2006). Accordingly, prior to the mass commercialization of YouTube, beauty and fashion uploaders,
otherwise known as gurus , used the site to share their passion for makeup and upload content of
personal interest. As guru tutorials gained a significant following, accounting for over 700 million
views monthly, brands realized the site s economic potential and began using YouTube
as a new form
of marketing (Kito 2014). Thus, it will be argued that the convergence of YouTube and commerce
has complicated the website s original desire for authenticity, as content is now created with the
prospect of monetary gain. Using YouTube beauty gurus, this essay will demonstrate how the
ability to make money off of videos has negative effects on both content creators and their
audiences.
Despite YouTube s origin as a site promoting personal expression, monetization has created a
barrier for amateur and everyday users. Moreover, what started...as ordinary girls sharing their
favorite products from their bedrooms has now become a site with, a production standard more
reminiscent of a TV show (White 2016). The transformation to high quality, edited, and scripted
videos has occurred due to the immense competition and ability to turn YouTube from a hobby into
a career (White 2016) Thus, to

Funk Carioca Research Paper
By 1989, DJ Marlboro, an essential pioneer in the genre of funk carioca music, released his first
album Funk Brasil which contained Portuguese covers of popular Miami bass songs (Filho 229).
Funk Brasil went on to be so successful that Brazilian media outlets began to report on the
explosive trajectory of funk carioca. Thus, the genre was truly became familiar to the public eye
by the early 90s (Filho 229). Popular nightclubs for middle class Brazilians began to host special
nights dedicated to funk carioca while radio stations played an active role in promoting Brazilian
funk festivals and playing recordings from baile funks across the city of Rio de Janeiro(Filho 230).
Overall, the representation of funk carioca was fairly neutral until 1992 (Filho 229). That year, a
group of young criminals known as arrastГЈos were arrested on a beach in the south side of Rio de
Raneiro. The local news carried the story and depicted images of social disorder as teenage
gangs fought amongst each other (Filho 230). As a response, funk carioca, the cultural expression
of slums and trademark of the youth from Rio de Janeiro s favelas, was highlighted in the media
as a key source to the malfeasance of the poor youth (Filho 230). The arrastГЈos at the beach were
identified as funkieros who promot[ed] violence very similar to that of organized... Show more

Of course, violent and sexually explicit lyrics are present in many funk carioca songs. However, it
would be far too simplistic to reduce the genre to these sole characteristics. The genre has a
legitimate significance to Brazilian youths living in favelas and is much more than laughably crude
cartoonish lyrics. The exoticization of funk carioca is particularly dangerous because it merely
presents the genre as void, vulgar music and strips Brazilian funk of its cultural significance to the
residents of Brazilian

  • 2. Joint Commission Case Study The joint commission states that the videotaping of patients is allowed only when informed consent has been given and signed. There are extenuating circumstances that fall out of this spectrum, namely when a patient is unable to sign a consent form. In some respects video monitoring a patient could prove beneficial in saving their life as well as other individual s lives. A hospital then may video a patient only in scenarios that involve life threatening aspects. Other than this type of patient, any videotaping must be made aware to the patient and his approved by her/him. • 4. Project Control Methods For Control The Project Part 9. Project Control Describe the methods that you would use in order to control the project. (1 paragraph) First and foremost, the project scope must be controlled. The entire reason for applying the scope control process is to locate and direct the parts of the project that could increase or decrease beyond what has already been determined in the original approved project scope plan. The next control method needed would be scheduling and is one of the most challenging but essential needs within project control. The project schedule can be impacted by many issues, such resources, funding, material, weather, my health and on and on. Further, risk control would include accomplishing the risk management plan to reply to risk events over the time frame of the project. It must be remembered that even the most the most exhaustive and inclusive examination cannot possibly recognize all risks and probabilities completely in a project. So using project tools, like workarounds, will be necessary. Workarounds are unplanned on reactions to a risk event and are, at best, short term solutions. Finally, cost controls would be vital to this project. A project could go over budget for many causes and frequently it is not just one item but the cascade of small many increases that combined to affect a budget failure. Part 10. • 5. What Is The Theme Of Psycho Alfred Hitchcock s intense, complex shocking thriller, Psycho (1960) is the mother of all advanced suspence movies, it bravely introduced a time of sub par screen slashers with blood draining and realistic, stunning killings. While this was Hitchcock s first genuine horror movie, he was erroneously named as a horror filmdirector from that point onward. The nightmarish, worrying film s subjects of corruptibility, confounded characters, voyeurism, human vulnerabilities and exploitation, the savage impacts of cash, Oedipal murder, and dull past histories are sensibly revealed. Its themes were uncovered through rehashed employments of themes, for example, birds, eyes, hands, and mirrors. Psychoadditionally broke all film traditions by showing its driving female hero having a lunchtime affair relationship in her attractive white underpants in the first scene which shows the loss of innocence; likewise by capturing a toilet bowl and flush in a restroom (a first in an American film), and killing off its significant star Janet Leigh33% of the path into the film (in a stunning, splendidly altered shower murder scene joined by... • 6. Boogie Nights Essay Boogie Nights Boogie Nights is a film that aptly embodies the extravagant decadence of morals during the disco era, while also creating empathy for the debauched innocents who find themselves caught up in a lifestyle of hard core sex, drugs and rock and roll. Sadly, while attempting to replace the loving family relationships they are lacking and in their search for self worth, these characters pay the highest price for fame. The film deftly takes the viewer to the seedy underside of the pornography business. But, like many of the young people who find themselves entangled in it, it is first introduced as a life of each and luxury with many good times and no consequences. The film portrays the life of a unique young man who gives himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack leaves Dirk with an open invitation to join him because as he says, I have a feeling there s something wonderful in those jeans just waiting to get out. Boogie Nights is wonderfully written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and succeeds in introducing in its viewer to a new perspective on a world often viewed socially with scorn. After subtly choreographing the introduction of the relationships between characters, the film then highlights a slice of each individual s life, giving the viewer a further insight into their motivations and/or regrets. Each character is searching for something that is missing in their lives, and the pornography business seems to provide them with what they are lacking. This is evidenced when Dirk s need for a loving mother figure is fulfilled by Amber, who desperately wants to be reunited with her estranged son. Amber (Julianne Moore), a veteran in the business, quickly takes Dirk under her protective maternal wing by providing him with something he has never had, the unconditional love of a mother. Amber s maternal displays of affection are incestuously infected at best, but they still manage to portray a deep and much needed love between the two. Young Dirk is given every indulgence a 17 year old boy could dream of, including the invitation to mindlessly couple with one of the bright young porn stars, Roller ... The life of a student is very different to other age groups and may prove to be extremely stressful and pressurised as the importance to having a profession, especially in South Africa, is heightened because of financial pressure and recessions. It has been argued and researched that the well being of a studentis important for their academic performance, therefore their health needs to be taken into context and maintained to ensure peak performance. The purpose of this essay is to assess the relationship between academic obstacles and facilitators and how they hinder or promote academic performance, as well as how it may affect the well being of the student. When students are going through a stressful period in their studies, such as exam time or when assignments are due, they often feel exhausted and sometimes unable to manage their time properly in order to get their work done on time, or simply not being able to cope with the nature of the work. It is argued that students who are experiencing emotional exhaustion will perform poorly in their studies (Salanova, Schaufeli, Martinez Breso, 2008). This is because students who feel exhausted will experience feelings of demotivation, irritability, detachment and cynicism towards their work. While those who have positive feelings ... Starbucks corporation, unlike many of its now defunct rivals, has done an outstanding job since its meager beginnings in 1970 with the execution of its strategic process; resulting in it currently owning 40% of the specialty coffee market and boosting annual sales exceeding $7 billion according to Burt Helm. Essentially what Falletta is saying is that by determining what or where an organization is at, as far as infrastructure, procedures, leadership, etc. its leadership can determine what changes need to be made to achieve the desired objectives. Another important benefit of conducting analysis is that Diagnosis confirms that a problem actually exists (Faletta 3). In conducting such an analysis, a business can search out the underlying or root causes and then use this information to inform members on how to make the necessary changes. A third point to consider is to look at the business as one whole entity and not the sum of its individual parts. Faletta states that business analysis should occur similar to the medical profession in which a physician takes a holistic view of the patient. They do not simply look at a runny nose and bad cough and think that there must be a problem with the individual s nose and lungs. They look at all symptoms, how they are related, and what course of action is required to remedy all associated symptoms of a common cold. A final important reason to conduct analysis is to determine if the changes made to the organization are actually working. Electoral College Voting System It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the winner of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the Electoral College votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections. In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. Most people from Gejeret stayed at home during daytime, and at night moved to La Salle to spend the night. Usually in the late afternoon, most of the people packed necessary supplies, took along mattress and blankets, and bagged other items, and headed to La Salle to spend the night. After some time, that became the daily routine, people were convinced it was the only way to evade falling victim and face the unimaginable cruelty and looting in the hands of the Derg security forces, the Tor Serawti who became extremely active during the night. However, when both identities were combined, the product turned into a brown and red rocky material. Once 20 mL of deionized water was added, the product quickly turned pale pinkpaste. After the solution was repeatedly washed with a total of an additional 100 mL of deionized water, the product was powdery and pink with small grains, and was left to air dry. Once the product was air dried, it was observed to be a pale pink color, while the filter paper was stiff as the product was hard and dry. The Europeans and French in both the United States and Canada had been inhabited by the Indigenous or the First Nation who had not only their culture wiped out; but, their entire people group slaughtered by European diseases. Though slavery and genocide binds these two realms, the differences in the Americasare intriguing on how they impact these places. In North Americathe language is universally English; however, this is a revolving door due to immigration. Per the American Community Survey in 2011 230 million Americans spoke English, Spanish 37.58 million, Chinese 2.88 million, French 2.05 million, and Tagalog 1.59 million (Census Bureau, 2011). • 23. Outlasting the SARS Epidemic Introduction When speaking of epidemics, the memories which come to mind are different for different people; for those who lived in Hong Kong in 2002 2003, images that spring up would almost invariably be of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the epidemic known to man as SARS in short. Sharing with us the three letter acronym (SAR) which was given to us by our leaders in China, this ordeal has left its mark on our city in more ways than one. It had caused a widespread wave of mysophobia and health consciousness among the Hong Kong people, which outlasted the SARS epidemic but is probably slowly waning. It has also raised the awareness of the government of the importance of the control of infectious diseases, both in the community and in the clinical setting. Most importantly, SARS showed us what works and what needs improving in terms of infection control in the event of a major epidemic. Originally starting in November 2002 in Guangdong Province of China, the SARS coronavirus has since infected as many as 8422 persons worldwide, with a total of 1755 patients infected, among which 300 unfortunately succumbed to this disease. (1) Apart from being a major epidemic in the medical history of Hong Kong and a health threat of global concern, another aspect of SARS worth noting is the occurrence of nosocomial outbreaks. SARS was the cause of nosocomial outbreaks in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore. (2) The impact of nosocomial outbreak in an epidemic such as SARS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Urinary Tract Infections ( Cautis ) Background and Significance Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are caused by transmission of bacteria to the urinary tract via the urinary catheter during catheter insertion, via the catheter lumen, or by handling of the catheter drainage bag (Mori, 2014). Urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for about 35% of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and about 80% of the UTIs are related to the presence of indwelling urinary catheter (IUC). CAUTIs are a significant problem affecting the patients as well as the health care system as they are linked with increased morbidity and mortality, increased health care expenses, and extended hospitalization (Gould, 2015). CAUTIs can result to patient s complications such urethritis, urethral strictures, bloody urine, bladder obstruction and sepsis. In addition, the catheter drainage bag may be a reservoir of pathogens that can result to more critical HAIs (Apostolopoulou, 2015). Approximately 13,000 deaths are associated with UTIs every year. A total health care cost of approximately $0.4 $0.5 billion is spent for CAUTI incidences and it s complications in the United States annually. The length of hospital stay related to CAUTIs extends from two to four days (Gould, 2015). Then we shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memoryhierarchy. This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cachemisses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization techniques. Keywords Cache mapping technique, Cache optimization, Virtual Memory, Zswap, Zbud , LZO, Frontwrap I. INTRODUCTION Basically, cache is the smallest and fastest memory component in the hierarchy. It is aimed to bridge the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable cost. It maintains the locality of information and support the reduction of average access time. The address mapping converts physical address to the cache address. • 37. Music Can Affect Human Behavior Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information. One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However, the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied. Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold, Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension (Fagen et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects Of Imagination Inflation Imagination Inflation Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an experienced event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a complete false memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that imagination can be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect, performed actions versus imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability to imagine other people s behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006). The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary, 2005). During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning, Loftus, Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain events as a child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how and when some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI questionnaire again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have been lost. This paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident and believing that certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a false memory (Leding 2012). • 41. The Way Of Self Regulation The way self regulation occurs will change over time based off of what culture the child lives in. For instance, crying is an acceptable form of self regulation for a baby, but not for a teenager so the teenager must find another way to self regulate when a challenge pops up (neurons to neighborhoods). A part of self regulation (which falls under the emotional part of self regulation) that is very important for infants to develop is effortful control, or how well the infantcan prevent impulses, cope with negative emotions, and behave in a way that is socially acceptable (Berk). It also predicts conscience, empathy, guilt, and low aggression, and gives children the ability to do something else when they are affected negatively so they aren t overwhelmed. Low effortful control is a consistent predictor of externalizing problems (temperament and personality, Rothbart). Infants show that they are beginning to obtain emotional self regulation around 12 18 months (Berk). With this evidence it is very obvious that self regulation is an important part of development. If a child isn t able to learn how to self regulate, he/she would not be able to learn important motor abilities, or have the capacity to deal properly with emotions. The best way children learn how to self regulate is by watching, interacting, and learning from others. These concepts range from personal integrity to how we should treat others and why we should or should not act in certain manners. Since these articles cover such a broad range of topics, the purpose of this paper shall be to isolate the three main points found in each paper, then explain and build upon these points. In addition, this will allow for easier and more concise analysis of the articles core principles. Given these points, the most suitable method for this paper to accomplish this task is to explore the media pieces individually while making comparisons as needed. Below this point the critiques and analysis of the three papers start. Article 1: The Special Problem of Doing Right in Our Occupations When employees become complacent in their occupations, there is the possibility that their moral values might deteriorate or waver due to competing internal or external interests. This seemingly casual bending of morals might have no impacts at first, but it can quickly become a very serious issue. Whether it is watching a coworker take a box of paperclips home or adding gas miles for leisure trips to their business expenses, it all starts with an employee s personal value and their level of respect and integrity. Elline Lipkin, however, holds fast to the understanding that as true as that saying may be, there are outside forces that are intent on readjusting our vision to true beauty : the kind that can be bought off the shelves. In her article, Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality , Lipkin employs several different external resources to help demonstrate her belief that young girls ( Before they even abandon their teddy bears... She then provides anecdotes from teens regarding their own body image before delving into the beginning of the 20th century, where she draws upon Brumberg s 1997 book, The Body Project. The interlopers and To build a fire have many different similarities with a few differences here and there. The interlopers is about two men with a bad past through family generations. The Von Gradwitz family and the Znaeym family has had feuds through their families for the past three generations over a bit of land and who the ownership belonged to. Both men were traveling through the woods when nature decided now would be a good time to be against them. A storm occurred striking a tree in the process trapping the two men when it had fallen. This showed that he wanted to do things himself while the character in The Interlopers decided to ask for forgiveness so that his men could help the other man also. Along with this both stories had strong characters, the interlopers had a man who did everything he could to survive the freezing weather, even if that meant putting the dog s life before his, and in To build a fire the man went over his own ego to make friends with his enemy to try to survive but sadly didn t. • 49. Nt1320 Unit 8 This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out. So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own voice signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because we as human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak in a group we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a computer to distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own frequency of speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is quite hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the crosses and for the speaker 2 and both of the data points don t coincide. What we are using here for matching is vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word. Let me show you the user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the crosses show the speaker 5 points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we calculate the centroid values is the main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the mean and it is splitted in two parts and orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean is calculated for both the areas and the process goes on and on an in the end for comparison purposes these centroid values their distances are calculated and those found with the minimum distances their match is found with the user. Likewise here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the speakers and similarly for these speakers the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum distance is found ... • 50. The Effects Of Youtube On The Content Creators And Their... The website YouTube, consisting of the term You in it s name, was originally developed to foster individual creativity and visual expression through grass roots and community run content (Cloud 2006). Accordingly, prior to the mass commercialization of YouTube, beauty and fashion uploaders, otherwise known as gurus , used the site to share their passion for makeup and upload content of personal interest. As guru tutorials gained a significant following, accounting for over 700 million views monthly, brands realized the site s economic potential and began using YouTube as a new form of marketing (Kito 2014). Thus, it will be argued that the convergence of YouTube and commerce has complicated the website s original desire for authenticity, as content is now created with the prospect of monetary gain. Using YouTube beauty gurus, this essay will demonstrate how the ability to make money off of videos has negative effects on both content creators and their audiences. Despite YouTube s origin as a site promoting personal expression, monetization has created a barrier for amateur and everyday users. Moreover, what started...as ordinary girls sharing their favorite products from their bedrooms has now become a site with, a production standard more reminiscent of a TV show (White 2016). The transformation to high quality, edited, and scripted videos has occurred due to the immense competition and ability to turn YouTube from a hobby into a career (White 2016) Thus, to ... Funk Carioca Research Paper By 1989, DJ Marlboro, an essential pioneer in the genre of funk carioca music, released his first album Funk Brasil which contained Portuguese covers of popular Miami bass songs (Filho 229). Funk Brasil went on to be so successful that Brazilian media outlets began to report on the explosive trajectory of funk carioca. Thus, the genre was truly became familiar to the public eye by the early 90s (Filho 229). Popular nightclubs for middle class Brazilians began to host special nights dedicated to funk carioca while radio stations played an active role in promoting Brazilian funk festivals and playing recordings from baile funks across the city of Rio de Janeiro(Filho 230). Overall, the representation of funk carioca was fairly neutral until 1992 (Filho 229). That year, a group of young criminals known as arrastГЈos were arrested on a beach in the south side of Rio de Raneiro. The local news carried the story and depicted images of social disorder as teenage gangs fought amongst each other (Filho 230). As a response, funk carioca, the cultural expression of slums and trademark of the youth from Rio de Janeiro s favelas, was highlighted in the media as a key source to the malfeasance of the poor youth (Filho 230).
