Plastic Bags Argument Essay
Government officials and environmentalists try to control everything while claiming it s what s
best for the environment. However, they fail to realize what s best for the people and their lives.
By using logos and factual evidence, Adam B. Summers forms an argument in an attempt to
persuade his audience to fight against the ban on plastic bags. Environmentalists claim plastic bags
and other kinds of wraps destroy marine life. However, according to the U.S Environmental
Protection Agency plastic bags and other wraps only account for about 1.6 percent of the municipal
solid waste materials. In addition, high density polyethylene (HDPE) bags, the most common kind
of plastic bags, contributes to the waste for only about 0.3 percent. It d be

Theme Of Political Education In Fahrenheit 451
Ray Bradbury displays a dystopian society in the midst of intense conflict with no value for
education in his novel Fahrenheit 451. A day at school in the world of Fahrenheit 451 would often
involve attending classes such as an hour of TV class , baseball, basketball or running, and
painting, opposed common classes such as math, english, science and history. At a glance, one
might not be able to see the drastic similarity between these two worlds, but in fact there is a major
one. Where do children recieve their political education, where are they displaying their critical
thinking? Both aspects of education are crucial in a child s education. Political education and
critical thinking provide children with the tools that they will need to prevent the government from
manipulating them and the rest of society. Without these tools, an epidemic of ignorance flows
upon society, which is what clearly occurs in Fahrenheit 451. In the middle of a lengthy and
continuous war, but with the persecution of knowledge apparent, political education is the obvious,
yet regrettably unobtainable solution to this conflict. In general, the citizens of Bradbury s
dystopian society have little to no interest in politicswhatsoever. The two citizens who are the prime
examples of proving this statement
Hodges 2 are Mildred s friends Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles, with their blatant ignorance in
regards to politics. Most likely in our society, political discussion would be on the latest

Sleepy Lagoon Trial
The Sleepy Lagoon Murder Trial was one of the most shocking displays of injustice carried on
by the court of California. The trial focused on the murder of twenty two year old Jose Diaz who
had been beaten and stabbed near a reservoir known as Sleepy Lagoon. Sleepy Lagoon had
always been a place that comminity and gang members frequently visited located in East Los
Angeles. On the evening of August 1, 1942 two rivaling gangs had a violent confrontation
between one another. This led to future events which would result in the murder of Jose Diaz.
The Los Angeles Police department held 600 youths in custody as well as charged 2 people for the
murder of Diaz. The court held 22 people responsible for the death of Diaz despite lack of evidence

Around 600 Mexican Americans who fit the term zoot suiters ( a person who wears ballooned
pants and long coats) were rounded up in efforts to catch the criminal. The court argued that
their look alone was enough to prove they were deliquents in one way or another and should be
held responsible for their actions. Altough appearances do distinguish gang members from
regular civilians the mass gathering of around 600 Mexicans for one individuals murder shows the
lack of professional expirence. It also serves as a pedestal to say that these police offers weren t

an injustice to hold so many people accountable for a crime based on their looks let alone get so

January 12, 1943 in the case of People v. Zamora, presided by Judge Charles Fricke, the court

The Gospel Of Luke Figurative Language
The Gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels as part of the new testament. Luke s Gospel is
dependent on other earlier writings, especially the Gospel according to Mark. The purpose of the
Gospel is to communicate the life of God and promote the universal significance of Jesus Christ s
story. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to readers from different religious,
ethnic, and social backgrounds. The reason Luke makes an effort to create an easily relatable story
is to create a point of identity and entry into the story of JesusChrist. In telling this story, Luke
demonstrates an ability to write in different literary styles. The language is formal and refined in a
fashion familiar to the language of well educated citizens during the first century of the Roman
Empire. As situations shift in the story, the language used varies appropriately to suit the locale and
characters in the narrative. Luke s appreciation of stylistic variation in narrative communication is
apparent, and helps build a convincing viewpoint. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presented him as the firstborn of a new race. Second, he presented him as the older brother in a
new family. Third, he presented him as the redeemer of a lost humanity. Luke presents Jesus as
someone who holds similar characteristics to his audience and is therefore more to his audience.
However, Luke maintains Jesus divine nature by indicating that Jesus was not just like other
humans who descended from Adam as he was not only the son of Adam, but the son of God. Luke
presented him as a real man. Even though he is perfect, Jesus is someone with whom we feel a
natural kinship, because we share humanity together. Denying a physical connection between Mary
and Jesus would imply that Jesus was not truly human, suggesting to his followers that he is truly

Compare And Contrast Matrice And Where To Find Them By...
Matrices and Where to Find Them Over the ages there have been many struggles in the effort to
describe the universe and its appearance. Seeing is believing and perception is reality are both
sayings that can be found in almost any household, but how much truth can be attributed to these
words in their many variations? The nature of reality has been a controversy for a great many
years. Rene Descartes was the first philosopher to offer the explanation that the world people
perceive is simply an illusion which the called Dream Theory . While Descartes was essential in
the development of Dream Theory, he was unable to address several major flaws in his work. It
was only when Nick Bostrom wrote his paper on simulation theory that these flaws... Show more

In his work, Bostrom states that every species must fall into one of three categories, each of
which state a different reality and level of technology for that people. The first scenario states
that the civilization in question is not advanced enough to create the technology required to
produce a simulation of an identical nature to the real world. It also states that they will most
likely go extinct before they reach this level of sophistication. The second scenario states that the
civilization does have the ability to produce the technology necessary to produce and maintain a
simulation of such a high level of detail but has no desire to. The third and last scenario is that
most likely the civilization in question already exists in a simulation. In simulation theory, the three
scenarios follow a chronological order in which the disapproval of the previous claim leads to the
validation of the next and vice versa. For example, if the civilization in question is too advanced to
fall in the first scenario, then they fall into the second. If they fulfill the qualities of the second
scenario then they would not fulfill the qualities of the third and the society

Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest
Written in the British colonies of North America during the Civil War era, Success is Counted
Sweetest features the speaker, presumably the author, Emily Dickinson, as they discuss
experiencing failures and successes. In order to truly comprehend success and defeat, Dickinson
uses encounters of the Union Army and Confederate Army who fought in the American Civil War.
Dickinson includes metaphors within the poem, with nectar representing something precious and
purple Host representing the Union Army of the North. With an ABCB rhyme scheme, the rhythm
is interrupted during the death of a soldier in order to emphasize the moment in which success is
most needed by an individual. The soldier fought vigorously for their belief and for that

however, he feels that showing the article to a child is better because it can lead to a to a

Why Do Chocolate Milk Serve In Schools
Have you ever tried chocolate milk? If you haven t you should, because the creamy chocolate
taste is truly delicious. I think schools should serve chocolate milk. But on the other hand there
are many who disagree with the idea of chocolate milk being served in schools, because it has a
lot of sugar. When you look at the facts though it is clear that chocolate milk should be served in
schools. Chocolate milk should be served in schools because its nutritious, kids drink more if its
flavored, and it helps kids achieve their dairy servings. There are tons of advantages for having
chocolate milk in our school.
One reason we should serve chocolate milk is that it is nutritious. For example, Chocolate milk
gives kids the nine essential nutrients they need, this was stated by Mrs. Dobbins from the midwest
dairy council, this is important because kids need nutrients to grow to their full potential. Also, kids
can get vitamins from chocolate milk that they might not get anywhere else, says David Muir

Many people say to take chocolate milk away from schools but why, many think that just
because its chocolate milk its bad, but its not. Some people say chocolate milk is bad, but it has
the exact same things as white milk except a little sugar, this was stated by Mrs. Dobbins from

Five Principles Of Resilience
ORGANISATIONAL RESILIENCE: A REVIEW
Prof. Fabiola M. Dhanaraj, Principal, Arulmigu Meenakshi College of Nursing, Kanchipuram.
Introduction
The term Organizational Resilience may be new to many of us especially in nursing. Our
workplaces can face resilience which we should be able to manage. Resilience is an abstract term
that is used substantially across a range of disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, economics,
ecology, engineering and network theory, to name but a few. In its most general human context,
resilience can be stated as the ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change .
However, in its most generally accepted form, the term resilience refers to the way in which any
entity or system achieves an end state of keeping going .

1. Leadership: Resilience begins with enterprise leadership setting the priorities, allocating the
resources and making the commitments to establish organizational resilience throughout the
enterprise. Leadership achieves a balance between risk taking and risk containment to ensure
ongoing innovation, but in the context of prudent risk minimization.
2. Culture: The second component of organizational resilience is enterprise culture. A resilient
culture is built on principles of organizational empowerment, purpose, trust and accountability. A
resilient culture is built on a strong sense of trust between employees, management, suppliers and
partners. People assume responsibility without question. People commit to action and do what has
to be done regardless of rank, title or job description. A resilient organization is a passionate
organization, and it is this culture of passion that drives, achieves and rewards personal and team

Manifest Manhood And The Antebellum American Empire Summary
Manifest Manhood and the Antebellum American Empire by Amy Greenburg analyzes the time
period between 1848 through 1861. The book emphasizes on manifest destiny and gender roles
that it plays during this time. Greenburg focuses on real life people and politics for her readers.
She specifically does that by using stories from newspapers, journals, diaries, letters, books, and
more.
Greenburg wrote this book to show the American progress. At this time, America has just came out
of the Mexican American war. She wants the readers to know how America was still expanding.
Manifest destiny was still continuing, although some historians might disagree. Manhood was
mostly defined by the land that you had. In addition, America was transforming politically ... Show

Greenburg stated in the book that they were businessmen. Although it was restraints in manhood

The dramatic rise of information technology has resulted in business managers requiring their

them to be used in a way that meets the departmental or wider organisational goals and objectives.
In a much wider context, literacy is important in order for a country as a whole to remain
competitive in an increasing global market and to retain economic stability. It is extremely
important, therefore, to ensure that mechanisms and tools are in place to help children and
adults improve their literacy skills and that in particular children are better prepared for college

deficiency is not just UK exclusive: it is a global problem as the ACCI report indicates. Literacy
skills have proved to be very important especially in the modern age where businesses and world
economies are driven by the use of technologies for communication and commercial transactions

importance of literacy; to invest adequate research funding into how literacy can be improved in

Social And Political Views Of Democracy
Democracy offers people the chance to be involved citizens rather than unreceptive subordinates.
However, this right doesn t come unchallenged. Citizens are required to assess a broad range of
political subjects (such as candidates, parties, and policies) and then combine and simplify their
likings in a way that allows them to choose on voting decisions. So, how are these challenges met?
In the United States, some citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and
others fall in between or outside the two. Recent studies have proposed that these recognitions play
an important part in voting behavior and political perception. Recently, however, more studies have
accumulated advocating for two meager assumptions in regards to this study: that liberal
/conservative identifications are bipolar in meaning and that underlying this bipolarity is cognitive
meaning based on political issues (Conover, Feldman, 265). These variances in political positions
are called political attitudes, and fall on a spectrum between extremely liberal and extremely
conservative. Broadly speaking, this spectrum distinguishes what someone believes about social
issues and governments role in society. These beliefs are formed by a variation of aspects, which
can include family, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and region. Even things
like behavior, core ideals and values, and ideologycan affect people s political attitudes.
However, these opinions are not set in

Essay On Family Observation
For my observation on a speech event, I chose to observe my relatives coming to my home for a
small dinner/get together on Thanksgiving. I had around 13 families get together. As a custom of
greeting the guest, my brother and I had gone to open the door for them. To show respect toward
the elders, who were the grandparents, we had to put our hands together, bow, say Sat Sri Akal ,
and give them a hug. What I found interesting was that we greeted are uncles and aunts, my
brother and I had different ways to greet them. For me I would do the same things I did towards
the grandparents for my aunts, but when I greeted my uncles I never really gave them a hug. As
for my brother he had given hugs to both my aunt and uncle. I also noticed that my uncles would
say Sat Sri Akal and walk away, but for my brother almost all of them had a full on conversation
at the door and gave him hugs. While I mostly made conversations with my aunts. For my
cousins, the way we greeted them was completely different from the way we greeted the elders.
When we went the greet them there was no formality. Neither my brother or I said, Sat Sri Akal ,
bowed, or even put out our hands together; even if they were older than us. Instead, I would say
hi, while my brother would say sup to his male cousins and hi or hello to his female cousins. As
long as they were consider cousins or not elders we did not have to greet them with formality. I
was surprised on how differently my brother and I had

African American Civil War And The Period Of Reconstruction
After the Civil War and the period of Reconstruction there were many political, social and economic
changes which continued to affect the society. The role of African Americans in society changed
after the abolishment of slavery. This new freedom and opportunities were not much greater than
before when slavery existed. Despite reconstruction efforts, African Americans faced discrimination.
Society as a whole was altered extensively at this time.
After the civil war, political changes affected African Americanlives significantly. African
Americans were freed of slavery by the 13th amendment and the 14th amendment guaranteed their
citizenship, Everyone born or naturalized in the US were granted citizenship and were equal
under the law (Doc 1). After about 250 years of slavery, African Americans were finally free of
slavery (Johnson, 2000). Though they were free, they had nowhere to go and no money to spend,
They were sent away empty handed, without money, without friends, and without a foot of land to
stand upon (Doc 2). Former owners used their power to place limitations on emancipation. The
former slaves had to end up working for their former masters and borrowing land/money from them.
As many people disagreed with the decision of the 13th amendment, many hate groups started to
appear. Most commonly known group was the KKK founded Tennessee, 1865 ( Ku Klux Klan,
n.d.). They took it upon themselves to hurt African Americans in various ways, People have been

Chiari Malformation Research Paper
There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when
the cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults
and is the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and
cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as
spina bifidaand myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for
the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and
the brainstem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper
neck. This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is
extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different ,
n.d.).
There are several causes that can be associated with a Chiari malformation. Some of those causes
are associates with a structural defect of the spinal cord during fetal development, injury, or even a
lack of nutrients provided to the fetus during development. The cause associated with injury can be

Reston is a census designated place located in Northern Virginia s Fairfax County, about 20

original land owners decided to auction it off for $5 per acre. In 1886, the property which later

the company instituted an incentive based pay structure at its Taylorville, North Carolina factory.
Most production is done by hand, so instead of hourly wages, factory employees get paid for each

The Argument Against Gay Marriges
Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths,
conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share
two fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it
involves sex that doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of
Onan (Links to an external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving
his brother offspring, doesn t ejaculate inside her. Instead, he spilt the seed on the ground. God
slew him, which some might view as a sign of disapproval (Links to an external site.).The
Catholic catechism decries (Links to an external site.) homosexual acts because they close the
sexual act to the gift of life. Early American antisodomy laws discouraged all forms of non
procreative sex (including, incidentally, heterosexual oral and anal sex). Islam shares a similar
view. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at the man who commits sodomy with
a man or a woman. But if non procreative sex is the issue, society started down the slippery slope
not with the recent Supreme Court ruling but with production of the pill or, really, even earlier,
when birth control became common. We ve been into the non procreative sex thing for some time
now. Even most religious conservatives don t have the heart to go after this. If sex without the
possibility of creating life is wrong, then religious

to the war. They suffered through actions of disrespect and humiliation. They were, in other words,
tortured for their position on the side of the English Law. This treatment forced many Loyalists to
flee and return to England or to spread out and live elsewhere. Personal attacks and the stealing and
destruction of their property were common nuisances that the Loyalists endured in times of trouble.

Earning Differences by Gender
Despite women outnumbering men in U.S. colleges and the implementation of legislation like the
1963 Equal Pay Act the pay differences persist. According to some the pay gap persists because:
Men are more likely to pursue college majors and advanced degrees in fields that lead to higher
paying careers.
Women are getting graduate degrees, but not necessarily in fields that give the best salaries.
Discrimination remains a factor and it is difficult to document and measure.
Women on average are working fewer hours than men, often to care for children or other family
members.
The wage gap narrowed steadily through the 1980s and 1990s but the convergence slowed in the
early 2000s. In 1980, women earned 60.2 cents for every $1 men ... Show more content on

The case given in the article is a prime explain of wage discrimination faced by females in the
workplace. Based on the details given in the article the female worker was suffered wage
discrimination. When compared to her male friend she was equally qualified but she was paid less
despite that fact. The employer got away with discriminating against the female worker mainly
because workers at her work place was forbidden. When she found out it had been four years.
The Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act enacted in 2009 allows victims like her to file a pay
discrimination complaint against the employer within 180 days of their last pay check instead of
the previously law which required victims to file the discrimination pay compliant within 180 days
of receiving their first unfair paycheck.
Opinion
According to the United States Census Bureau, the changes in the real median earnings of men
and women who worked full time, year round between 2011 and 2012 were not statistically
significant and the female to male earnings ratio has not experienced a statistically significant
annual increase since 2007. So this clearly indicates that legislation enacted by lawmakers so far
have failed to eliminate the wage gap problem that currently exists between males and females.
According to U.S. Equal Employment

Piaget Juice Observation Essay
Research report
By Christopher Brockwell
Abstract
The theory being tested was Piaget s Conservation experiment. It involved one participant, two
stools, a round table, a tablecloth, one tall tubular glass and two beaker glasses (both filled with
juice). The aim of this experiment was to test whether the participant could distinguish which out of
the two beakers (one tall and thin, the other short and rotund) contained the most juice.
In response to the question posed, the participant responded that the tall tubular glass contained the
most juice, even though both contained the same amount of juice. Piaget predicted a new logic
would enter the mind forming a new kind of intelligence. Research showed that unevenness instead

Donaldson argued that children form a model of the world by formulating hypotheses that help
anticipate events in the future on the basis of past experiences. The child therefore has expectations
about any scenario and their interpretation of the words they hear will be influenced by the
expectations they bring to the situation. (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011).
Vygotksy would state learning is not part of development, but only when properly organised
learning can result in mental development that sets in motion a variety of developmental processes
that would be impossible asides from learning. Therefore learning is a vital part and universal
feature for the process of developing culturally organised, and in particular human, psychological
functions. (Cole, John Steiner, Scribner, Souberman, 1978).
Much of Piaget s early work involved the clinical method children being asked questions in a
somewhat unstructured way, the onus being to establish whether they understood different
problems. This approach was criticised for being unscientific, with Piaget and his fellow workers
eventually being more precise in their experiments. It was agreed however that Piaget posed
problems in a way that young children found difficult to comprehend. (Eysenck,

Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglass And Booker T...
How many people have heard of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington? Many. How
many people know who they both are and what kind of lives they lived? Less. Frederick
Douglass was born in approximately 1818 in Tuckahoe, Maryland, enslaved. In 1838, he became
free and also became an orator and writer to advocate the liberation and rights of his race. Booker
T. Washington, born in a fourteen by sixteen log cabin, was also, like Frederick Douglass, born
into slavery around 1856. He was declared free in 1865 and went on to also become a writer and
orator to advocate his race. Both Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington are well known
for being African Americans leaders of the 19th century, as well as former slaves, but few people
know how vastly different their lives and beliefs were. Frederick Douglass and Booker T.
Washington s lives were vastly different, including all of their childhood days, their middle
struggles, and their later years.
The early years of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington s were perhaps the most
dramatic in contrast. Though Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington were both born into
slavery, Frederick Douglass saw and experienced more of the bloodiness of slavery. Not only did
he witness multiple excruciating beatings of his own aunt as a very young child, being often

##ethical Analysis Of Bradley Strawser s Moral Predators...
In Bradley Strawser s Moral Predators, Strawser argues that we are obligated to employ
uninhabited aerial vehicles (UAVs) weapon systems if it can be shown that their use does not
significantly reduce a warfighter s operational capability. By their very nature UAVs evoke many
ethical questions most of which are addressed by Strawser, who stresses there is no downside to
UAVs. I would argue there are certainly some downsides to this technology. The aim of this paper
is to provide legitimate moral objections to using drones in warfare.
The first issue concerning UAVs deals with the inability for an opponent to surrender under the
attack of a UAV strike. Additionally, I will discuss the possible increased inclination to start war...

Collateral damage is a immoral justification for downplaying the killing of innocent people those
of which UAVs still contribute to. That said, there is data to show that UAVs cause less
collateral damage than traditional warfare technologies, but they may, at the same time, make
war seem similar to a computer game, risk free and easy to pull the trigger. This leads me to
consider the possibility that there is a lower threshold for their use and increased inclination for
UAVs to proliferate and, perhaps, provoke a state of war. For obvious reasons (UAV pilots
operating from hundreds or thousands of miles away), there s less risk of injury and death to our
soldiers lives, which may have an affect on the impetus to start a war.
It is important to analyze the historical implications of UAVs. Would the United states have
entered war with Persian Gulf, Kosovo or Iraq if there was potential for retaliation on U.S soil.
Would the the United States have entered those wars, if those countries could choose to counter
attack with UAVs? A question of proportionate response also creates reasons to believe there are
moral downsides to count against using drones. The increase of asymmetric warfare techniques by
one side of the conflict leads to the rise of a response in asymmetric warfare by the other side. It is
not difficult to see similarities between drones and suicide bombers: one is high tech and the other
low tech, neither gives the other

Hydrogen Peroxide Lab Report
Testing the Effects of Temperature on the Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide with the Enzyme
Catalase
Purpose Question and Background Information:
What are the effects of different temperatures on the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide with the
Enzyme Catalase. Different enzymes work best at different optimal temperatures, and with this
experiment we hope to discover which temperatures are unideal for Catalase. The substrate is H2O2
which binds to the active site of the enzyme Catalase. The reaction in question is as written below:
Hydrogen Peroxide + Catalase Water + Oxygen

X-Ray Tube Essay
X ray tube is designed to lower the amount of heat produce, this can be accomplished by the
rotating of the anode which gives off heat. The X ray tube is designed with the anode attach to the
rotor and cathode on the other side of anode. This design determines the characteristics of X ray
beam.
The cathode is a normal cathode is made up of negatively charge small coil wire called filaments,
which is housed in focusing cup. The filament is negatively charged coil of wire which becomes
heated when the electrical current passes through and when that energy becomes enough to expel
the electrons from the filament its called Thermionic Emission. The function of cathode is to push
out electrons which are produced by electric circuit and to turn those electron into a beam. The
filament is contained in the cathode, usually design using a material known as Theorated tungsten.
This theorated tungsten allows for a high temperature without the filament melting and there are
different sizes of filament which can help to vary the spaceial resolution according to what is being
x ray.
The anode has two primary functions, one is to convert electronic energy into x radiation and the
second one is to dissipate the heat created in the process. The part of the x ray tube where x
radiation is produced is a large piece of metal that connects to positive side of electric current. The
anode provides a mechanical support for a target, the material of anode enhances the conversion of

We Propose A Novel Framework For Tweet Segmentation
Abstract Twitter has become one of the most important communication channels with its ability
providing the most up to date and newsworthy information. Considering wide use of twitter as the
source of information, reaching an interesting tweet for user among a bunch of tweets is
challenging. A huge amount of tweets sent per day by hundred millions of users, information
overload is inevitable. For extracting information in large volume of tweets, Named Entity
Recognition (NER), methods on formal texts. However, many applications in Information Retrieval
(IR) and Natural Language Processing(NLP) suffer severely from the noisy and short nature of
tweets. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for tweet segmentation in a batch mode,
called HybridSeg by splitting tweets into meaningful segments, the semantic or context
information is well preserved and easily extracted by the downstream applications. HybridSeg
finds the optimal segmentation of a tweet by maximizing the sum of the stickiness scores of its
candidate segments. The stickiness score considers the probability of a segment being a phrase in
English (i.e., global context) and the probability of a segment being a phrase within the batch of
tweets (i.e., local context). For the latter, we propose and evaluate two models to derive local
context by considering the linguistic features and term dependency in a batch of tweets,
respectively. HybridSeg is also designed to iteratively learn from confident segments as pseudo

The Two Component Stressors
Introduction
Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating
conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to
sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein
misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986)
in the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor
histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is
bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates
itself upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a
specific histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its
cognate response regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the
histidine kinase as it catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its
conserved aspartic acid residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational
change which activates the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted
genes. As mentioned earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate
response regulator if it is not stimulated to autophosphorylate.
This system has vast variations and the common

Trojan War
Was The Trojan War Just?
The Trojan War was a Greek mythological war waged on account of the beautiful Helen, wife of
the Spartan king Menelaus, being stolen from Greece by Paris, Prince of Troy. It is one of the
most important, if not the most important, event in Greek mythology. The dispute originated from
a quarrel between three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. They were fighting to see who
was the fairest among them. They were sent by Zeus to Paris in order for him to judge them. Paris
chose Aphrodite after she offered to make Helen, the most beautiful of all women, fall in love with
him. She then proceeded to take Helen from Menelaus, with Paris s help and give her to him, thus
causing the Trojan War. Throughout this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For in the end, many innocent lives are taken, therefore a just war is waged only for the right
intentions. After all, the Bible does tell us that there is a time to love, and a time to hate; a time
for war, and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:8). War is not wrong, but it is wrong if waged for the
wrong reasons. Was The Trojan War righteous? The Bible says, Righteousness exalts a nation,
but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). After all, what is righteousness? It is acting
in accord with moral or divine law. This is not the kind of divinity defined by the divine gods of
ancient Greece, but the divinity that comes from the true Lord. According to His laws, waging a
war on account of beautiful woman, is not righteous, or in alignment with moral law. And to
consider material gain over the preservation of innocent life is not war for the right intention
(righteousness). In a just war, the ultimate goal should be to re establish peace. Consequently, the
war must have begun in turmoil, without peace. In this case, however, the war caused strife and
turmoil. Before the war, the two countries got along reasonably. During and after the war, there
was hatred. Now that is not the result of a just war, or even the goal. In the first place, anyway,
there was no consideration of ultimate peace. No, only vanity and material gain were in the mind
of the king and the people of Greece. If the authorities of Greece and Troy were putting peace

Totenberg used these words to draw attention to the untimely death of Justice Antonin Scalia in an
era of modern politics in which the court has become more polarized than ever. The Supreme
Court, the highest court of the land, is not only being severely impacted by partisan ties, but is now

They allude to the unanimous 9 0 decisions the Supreme Court has made as a strong indication
that the court remains neutral. Chief Justice Roberts also recently stated at a Boston law school:
We don t work as Democrats or Republicans (Savage, 2016, p. 1). Moreover, Justice Scalia, when
defending his conservative vote in a 5 4 ruling, claimed: I prefer not to take part in the

become unanimous only when the ideological stakes are not large enough. As for extremely
controversial topics, nearly every single recent 5 4 decision has been divided perfectly along
ideological lines. The conservative majority, praised by Republicans, has unbelievably struck
down major parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, upheld an individual s right to own guns, and

Expression Dance
The Expression of Dance
Cultures use a variety non verbal communication, some put more emphasis on specific channels,
including facial expressions, body language, vocal tone, and eye contact. However, there is one
medium that is repeatedly shown high significance, dance. Although they way people move their
bodies to rhythm vary, the feelings that seem to be communicated are similar if not the same. Some
popular messages include love, intimacy, sexual attraction, companionship, and even sympathy.
Some of the simplest ways to observe subliminal messages is by identifying interactions between
dancing partners, clothing choices, and dancing style. Dance is the hidden language of the soul.
Martha Graham
What is the significance of the interaction between dance partners? In it s most simplest form,
dance is purely an announcement that meet other people. Described in Interplay, this is called
initiating the opening stage of all relations, not just romantic ones. Friendships start here, and so
do business partnerships. (Adler, Ronald B) In other words, when you ask someone to dance, it
opens the possibility of a new friendship and possibly a connection to other people and more
relationships. A study of adolescents in schools put it another way. Shared social or physical
activities can systematically affect the emergence of ties between individuals in a social network.
(Zander, Lysann) It also suggests that meeting people through dance reaches on a deeper level.

The Roots Of Evil By Sharon Begley
Natural Devils Are humans created evil or do they develop evil habits? Even though all humans
have different personalities, good or sinful, we all have some type of evil in us. Some people are
exposed to evil in their early childhoods, therefore, if they acclimatize an evil personality as they

Children who are treated with cruelty at a young age affects how they treat others for the rest of

Critical Appreciation Of Waiting For Godot

characters that influence the story and it also it makes the two main characters and their views on
life pop out as well as their actions and words. At the beginning, both Vladimir and Estragonwere
confused on where they were and who exactly they were going to meet they are usually played
with Irish accents the play has a political undertone meaning that everything that is said and the
way that is said has often a double meaning. In the play you find a variety of archetypes and the
way that they fit in the script is very impressive because these archetypes have direct contact with

The history of pilgrims
Due date: 1/9/18

Name: Suhas Riphath Tadiparthi
Pilgrims were Englishmen from England who came to settle in America, and they want their own
way of living freely. They are people who landed in Plymouth. (santella).
Problems the pilgrims faced:
Pilgrims faced many problems like dangerous illness and lack of food in the winter and they did
not know how to survive. (bulla)
How did the pilgrims survive the winters in America? The pilgrims survived the winters in
America by making friends with Indians. Squanto is a better man . He thought the pilgrims
everything they need to survive in America . At last, the pilgrims had enough food to survive, so
they made a celebration, which is called the first thanksgiving in 1621. (bulla)
How did the pilgrims get to America from England? First, the pilgrims however escaped from
England with some help from some dealers. That s how the pilgrims got to North America for
better lives, so they sailed to America in the Mayflower. (santella)
Who is the captain of the mayflower? The captain of the mayflower is miles Standish and the first
governor of Plymouth is john carver. (bulla)
How Squanto got in contact with the pilgrims. Many years ago English explorers came and met
with Squanto and they took him to their place, that s how Squanto got in contact with the pilgrims.

Essay Media Fast
Media Fast Writing Assignment
Last Tuesday, I attempted to unplug myself from the world of media and see how it affected my
everyday life. After trying to disconnect myself from everything that involves media, I realized
how much I rely on it to get me through each day. I was never this aware of its presence in today s
society until disconnecting myself. Without media to rely on, I found myself having to readjust my
whole normal routine just to get through the day.
At the start of the day I found myself stressed, unorganized and uneasy. I use my cell phone as an
alarm and by turning it off the night before I found myself waking up every few hours for fear of
over sleeping. As I headed to my first class I paid attention to various ... Show more content on

Without the use of my phone I was unable to receive team emails and texts from my captains and
coaches which was one of the biggest obstacles I was faced with. Therefore, I had to rely on my
friend/teammate, Emily to tell me updates and important information. At one point I could tell she
was getting annoyed with me, having to update me regularly. She even told me she subconsciously
sent me a text message because she was used to the constant communication throughout the day.
Disconnecting myself completely from media provided me with a new opinion and outlook on its
powerful role in my own life and in the world.
Firstly, I noticed how much media speeds up our everyday lives. Essentially everyone is
multitasking; it is a way of life in our society. I noticed multitasking at its finest when I went to the
library later that day. People are researching online, writing papers, Facebook stalking, instant
messaging and listening to their iPods all instantaneously. The instant access to everything has
formed our culture. I find myself running on autopilot when it comes to using media. It took the
full 24 hour fast for me to realize how dependent I really am on media to make it though the day.
The stress I was feeling without the security of my phone or ability to communicate whenever I
wanted to left me feeling helpless. Media not only speeds up daily activities, but it has given

The Tragedy Of World War II By Siegfried Sassoon
throughout History, a major tragedy caused the world to become chaotic, which lead to millions
of brave individuals to lose their life. This horrific tragedy, World War 1 (the Great War), was
the beginning of a long terrible journey. Many strong and mighty men volunteered to join the
War with the persuasion of being Hero s . These men did not realize the terror they would face
when walking into this journey. Many soldiers were faced with seeing their fellow soldiers cold
blood drip from their aching bodies, their loving eyes becoming raged with anger by the
conditions of their sleeping arrangements, and their hopes of ever returning home or being a
normal human being was wiped clean. This was the beginning of a major change in the lives of
all individuals throughout the world. Before the War, many soldierss mindsets was that this war
would turn them into hero s and men . A poet, Siegfried Sassoon, wrote the famous poem They ,
explained, The Bishop (authority) tells us: when the boys come back/ they will not be the same
(1 2). These lines symbolizes how many or all soldiers were encouraged to join the War because
they will come out a better individual, and everyone will look up to them. Many of these fellow
soldiers entered the war singing, but suddenly realized the words given by an authority figure was
all wrong, which led them to trust no one. So, before the war men were chosen to fight and given
the encouragement of becoming a hero, then the view of the war

The Battle Of Kasserine Pass
E.STATE THE MISSION AND DESCRIBE INITIAL DISPOSTION OF FORCES
The Battle of Kasserine Pass proved to be a shock both to American military forces in the field.
The defeat of the Allied forces in the battle put doubt into the minds of many all of whom assumed
the righteous democracies of the western Allies could not be defeated in the field by the armies of
Fascism. The defeat suffered by the Allies had nothing to do with right versus wrong, but was very
much a product of a number of operational shortcomings on the part of the Allies. Poor logistics,
failures on the part of American leadership, lack of unity of effort on the part of the Allies, the lack
of combat experience, and inferior equipment all combined to contribute to the failure ... Show more

The decision to invade North Africa reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those
of the Americans as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as
1942. American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North
African campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted
no part of a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American
troops in North Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of
Marshall and his military advisers on this point.
b.As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied
landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti Axis alliance. In
order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command
the invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any
resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches
and ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly
every landing point. Nonetheless, dissension among the various French factions in North Africa
limited the cohesiveness and effectiveness of the opposition. Ultimately, the magnitude and rapidity

then today is your lucky day. Read on to learn more about this interesting sport.
What is Harness Racing?
Harness racing is where a driver races a Standardbred horse by puling a two wheeled vehicle,
referred to as a sulky. There are essentially two types of harness racing horses, which are
differentiated by how they walk. The pacer is a horse that moves both legs at one side of its body
at the same time. The trotter steps with its left front and right rear leg moving simultaneously.
What is The Origin?
Records of harness racing stem back to ancient times of 1500 BC, where Assyrian kings used to
draw chariots for the purpose of war and hunting. Olympic ... Show more content on

By the 17th century, the United States really began to focus on breeding specialized harness
racing horses. One of the first harness racing tracks in America was the Harlem Lane course,
located in New York. As the popularity of the sport increased, other tracks were built, including the
Roosevelt Raceway in 1940. Pretty much every Standardbred in the United States can trace its roots
back to Hambletonian. Hambletonian was the son of the great sire, Messenger, who was brought to
the U.S. in 1788. Pacers, on the other hand, had a much different path than that of the trotter. Their
roots stem from the Narragansett pacer and the Canuck of French Canada. The trotter may have
started in the east, but the pacer grew massive interest in the Midwest and South. Strangely, before
the pacer became popular in the 19th century, it was actually the despised

Should Adopted Kids Know Who Their Biological Parents Are?
Whether adoptive children should know who their birth parents is something that is questioned too
much. Children should have the right to be able to know who their birth parents are if they choose
to do so. If children do not want to know who their birth parents are then they probably have a
reason behind it. Children who do not know who their birth parents are, should find out who they
are so that they can have contact with them. Some children are absolutely accurate that they do not
want to know about who their birth parents are, but on the other hand some children do want to

This is unless that the adoptive parents make the decision to decide whether to tell the child that
they are adopted. The issues of adoption can be very tender and can cause torture to the child if the
information is given to them at a later age. To help take care of this situation the information is
hidden from the child until they are old enough to make their own decisions. However many
children have the desire to know why they were adopted and who their biological parents are. For
the child to be willing to find out who their biological parents are is something that a lot of people
question. On the other hand it is the right of the child to search for their biological parents if they
have the desire to. When they are grown up then they have the right to make their own decision
about what they want to do. No one should have the right to tell someone not to do something that
they want to do. All children should have the right to choose whether they want to find out who

Personal Narrative-The Roller Coaster
The Roller Coaster I am a piece of clay, just as every person is. We are not just any kind of clay,
though, we re that special molding clay that never dries out. Because of this, we are constantly
molded by almost everyone and everything surrounding our lives. At the beginning of life, we
are molded by the hands of loving parents, but once we leave that safe place, we are on our own.
At that point, we can be tossed, slammed, poked at, and sometimes even ripped apart. One
important event in my life that molded me and has helped make me the person I am today was my
first roller coasterride. Amusement rides don t usually change a person s life, but the first timeI went
on a roller coaster, I found myself stepping off the ride as an entirely different person. Most people
conquer their fear of heights or fast moving vehicles on thrill rides, but instead, I conquered the one
thing most people are terrified to face. Something that s more horrific than monsters and demons,
and that is yourself. For me, the ride was more of a journey than anything. From the beginning to
the end, I learned a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like other children, I wanted something and I wanted it really, really badly. I wanted to ride a
roller coaster. My parents were not too comfortable with letting me go, but I continued to insist.
We were standing at the front of the Mount Everest Roller Coaster in Disney World s Animal
Kingdom. I wanted my parents to trust me and to understand that I was ready for this. That was
where I made the biggest mistake, I let my heart get the best of me. They say that you should
follow your heart, but what I have come to understand is that making decisions is not a one man
game. Following your heart without taking any thought about whether or not your decision is
rational can lead to your own downfall. My parents eventually gave in and my dad, my younger
sister, and I got in

The Darkness Out There Character Analysis Essay
Analysis of Characterization in The Darkness Out There
Analysis of Characterization in The Darkness Out There
The Darkness Out There and The Withered Arm are both short stories. The characterization
techniques they use are contrasting and similar. Each story is from a different time; The Withered
Arm being 19th century and The Darkness Out There being 20th century. Thomas Hardy writes
The Withered Arm as a 3rd person narrative whereas Penelope Livelyuses a mixture between 3rd
and 1st person.
The Darkness Out There combines the author s narration with the thoughts and feelings of Sandra,
a girl belonging to the Good Neighbors club. She goes to help out an old lady, Mrs. Rutter, with the
help of a boy called Kerry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She starts to tell Sandra about her husband who was killed in the war. He died rite at the
beginning, and she hasn t formed any relationships since. This can make the reader feel a little
bit sympathetic towards her. Penelope Lively lets us know what others think of Mrs. Rutter as
Kerry builds a profile on her character when he talks with Sandra. He shows his dislike of the
woman, I don t go much on her and I dunno. The way she talks and that. Sandra encourages him
to feel sorry for her by telling him of her tragedy, but he explains that There s lots of people done
that dismissing the excuse for her peculiar and disturbing behavior by implying that she wasn t the
only one to loose somebody in the war.
The way Mrs. Rutter always watches Sandra and glinting from the cushions gives an uneasy feel
towards her. When Kerry returns inside Mrs. Rutter begins her anecdote. He asks if she saw the
plane come down and she chuckles, seeming to delight in the idea. She explains how her and her
sister went to investigate the scene and was only going to get help if it was an allied plane. This
alarms Kerry. Her twisted side becomes more apparent when she says, We cheered, I can tell you
as they realized it was German. Sandra is alarmed and quips how awful it was, but Mrs. Rutter,
who disregards her discomfort, abruptly interrupts her she is so involved in telling the story.
She tries to soften what she is

Dying Star Research Paper
If you ve ever wondered what a dying star looks like right when it s about to bite the dust,
wonder no more: NASA has just released an image taken by its Hubble Space Telescope which
reveals the bright star known as Herschel 36 in its final death throes, a process that the agency says
generally takes tens of thousands of years.
What Does a Dying Star Look Like?
The picture posted by NASA shows Herschel 36 surrounded by a gas cloud that left its core
exposed for the photograph. Emanating from the gas cloud are radiant wisps of orange and blue
hues, creating a truly spectacular sight. These colors are the result of ultraviolet light powering the

  • 2. Plastic Bags Argument Essay Government officials and environmentalists try to control everything while claiming it s what s best for the environment. However, they fail to realize what s best for the people and their lives. By using logos and factual evidence, Adam B. Summers forms an argument in an attempt to persuade his audience to fight against the ban on plastic bags. Environmentalists claim plastic bags and other kinds of wraps destroy marine life. However, according to the U.S Environmental Protection Agency plastic bags and other wraps only account for about 1.6 percent of the municipal solid waste materials. In addition, high density polyethylene (HDPE) bags, the most common kind of plastic bags, contributes to the waste for only about 0.3 percent. It d be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theme Of Political Education In Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury displays a dystopian society in the midst of intense conflict with no value for education in his novel Fahrenheit 451. A day at school in the world of Fahrenheit 451 would often involve attending classes such as an hour of TV class , baseball, basketball or running, and painting, opposed common classes such as math, english, science and history. At a glance, one might not be able to see the drastic similarity between these two worlds, but in fact there is a major one. Where do children recieve their political education, where are they displaying their critical thinking? Both aspects of education are crucial in a child s education. Political education and critical thinking provide children with the tools that they will need to prevent the government from manipulating them and the rest of society. Without these tools, an epidemic of ignorance flows upon society, which is what clearly occurs in Fahrenheit 451. In the middle of a lengthy and continuous war, but with the persecution of knowledge apparent, political education is the obvious, yet regrettably unobtainable solution to this conflict. In general, the citizens of Bradbury s dystopian society have little to no interest in politicswhatsoever. The two citizens who are the prime examples of proving this statement Hodges 2 are Mildred s friends Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles, with their blatant ignorance in regards to politics. Most likely in our society, political discussion would be on the latest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The trial focused on the murder of twenty two year old Jose Diaz who had been beaten and stabbed near a reservoir known as Sleepy Lagoon. Sleepy Lagoon had always been a place that comminity and gang members frequently visited located in East Los Angeles. On the evening of August 1, 1942 two rivaling gangs had a violent confrontation between one another. This led to future events which would result in the murder of Jose Diaz. Around 600 Mexican Americans who fit the term zoot suiters ( a person who wears ballooned pants and long coats) were rounded up in efforts to catch the criminal. The court argued that their look alone was enough to prove they were deliquents in one way or another and should be held responsible for their actions. Altough appearances do distinguish gang members from regular civilians the mass gathering of around 600 Mexicans for one individuals murder shows the lack of professional expirence. It also serves as a pedestal to say that these police offers weren t looking for an individual based on factual evidence but based their prejudice beliefs tried to round up and get place a large group of Mexicans in the court of law under biased pretences. On January 12, 1943 in the case of People v. • 5. The Gospel Of Luke Figurative Language The Gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels as part of the new testament. Luke s Gospel is dependent on other earlier writings, especially the Gospel according to Mark. The purpose of the Gospel is to communicate the life of God and promote the universal significance of Jesus Christ s story. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to readers from different religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds. The reason Luke makes an effort to create an easily relatable story is to create a point of identity and entry into the story of JesusChrist. In telling this story, Luke demonstrates an ability to write in different literary styles. The language is formal and refined in a fashion familiar to the language of well educated citizens during the first century of the Roman Empire. As situations shift in the story, the language used varies appropriately to suit the locale and characters in the narrative. Luke s appreciation of stylistic variation in narrative communication is apparent, and helps build a convincing viewpoint. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Luke maintains Jesus divine nature by indicating that Jesus was not just like other humans who descended from Adam as he was not only the son of Adam, but the son of God. Matrices and Where to Find Them Over the ages there have been many struggles in the effort to describe the universe and its appearance. Seeing is believing and perception is reality are both sayings that can be found in almost any household, but how much truth can be attributed to these words in their many variations? The nature of reality has been a controversy for a great many years. Rene Descartes was the first philosopher to offer the explanation that the world people perceive is simply an illusion which the called Dream Theory . While Descartes was essential in the development of Dream Theory, he was unable to address several major flaws in his work. The second scenario states that the civilization does have the ability to produce the technology necessary to produce and maintain a simulation of such a high level of detail but has no desire to. The third and last scenario is that most likely the civilization in question already exists in a simulation. In simulation theory, the three scenarios follow a chronological order in which the disapproval of the previous claim leads to the validation of the next and vice versa. I think schools should serve chocolate milk. But on the other hand there are many who disagree with the idea of chocolate milk being served in schools, because it has a lot of sugar. • 14. Social And Political Views Of Democracy Democracy offers people the chance to be involved citizens rather than unreceptive subordinates. However, this right doesn t come unchallenged. Citizens are required to assess a broad range of political subjects (such as candidates, parties, and policies) and then combine and simplify their likings in a way that allows them to choose on voting decisions. So, how are these challenges met? In the United States, some citizens are conservative Republics, some are liberal Democrats, and others fall in between or outside the two. Recent studies have proposed that these recognitions play an important part in voting behavior and political perception. Recently, however, more studies have accumulated advocating for two meager assumptions in regards to this study: that liberal /conservative identifications are bipolar in meaning and that underlying this bipolarity is cognitive meaning based on political issues (Conover, Feldman, 265). These variances in political positions are called political attitudes, and fall on a spectrum between extremely liberal and extremely conservative. Broadly speaking, this spectrum distinguishes what someone believes about social issues and governments role in society. These beliefs are formed by a variation of aspects, which can include family, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and region. Even things like behavior, core ideals and values, and ideologycan affect people s political attitudes. However, these opinions are not set in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Argument Against Gay Marriges Arguments against gay marriges Though there are differences in the views of different faiths, conservative Protestants, the Catholic Church, Mormons, traditional Jews, and Muslims share two fundamental antigay arguments. The first is that homosexuality is wrong because it involves sex that doesn t create life. In the case of Judaism, a key Bible passage is the story of Onan (Links to an external site.), who sleeps with his dead brother s wife but, to avoid giving his brother offspring, doesn t ejaculate inside her. Instead, he spilt the seed on the ground. Early American antisodomy laws discouraged all forms of non procreative sex (including, incidentally, heterosexual oral and anal sex). Islam shares a similar view. One Islamic hadith explains that Allah will not look at the man who commits sodomy with a man or a woman. But if non procreative sex is the issue, society started down the slippery slope not with the recent Supreme Court ruling but with production of the pill or, really, even earlier, when birth control became common. According to some the pay gap persists because: Men are more likely to pursue college majors and advanced degrees in fields that lead to higher paying careers. Women are getting graduate degrees, but not necessarily in fields that give the best salaries. Discrimination remains a factor and it is difficult to document and measure. Women on average are working fewer hours than men, often to care for children or other family members. • 25. Piaget Juice Observation Essay Research report By Christopher Brockwell Abstract The theory being tested was Piaget s Conservation experiment. It involved one participant, two stools, a round table, a tablecloth, one tall tubular glass and two beaker glasses (both filled with juice). The aim of this experiment was to test whether the participant could distinguish which out of the two beakers (one tall and thin, the other short and rotund) contained the most juice. In response to the question posed, the participant responded that the tall tubular glass contained the most juice, even though both contained the same amount of juice. Donaldson argued that children form a model of the world by formulating hypotheses that help anticipate events in the future on the basis of past experiences. The child therefore has expectations about any scenario and their interpretation of the words they hear will be influenced by the expectations they bring to the situation. (Smith, Cowie, Blades, 2011). Vygotksy would state learning is not part of development, but only when properly organised learning can result in mental development that sets in motion a variety of developmental processes that would be impossible asides from learning. Therefore learning is a vital part and universal feature for the process of developing culturally organised, and in particular human, psychological functions. (Cole, John Steiner, Scribner, Souberman, 1978). Much of Piaget s early work involved the clinical method children being asked questions in a somewhat unstructured way, the onus being to establish whether they understood different problems. This approach was criticised for being unscientific, with Piaget and his fellow workers eventually being more precise in their experiments. It was agreed however that Piaget posed problems in a way that young children found difficult to comprehend. (Eysenck, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglass And Booker T... How many people have heard of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington? Many. How many people know who they both are and what kind of lives they lived? Less. Frederick Douglass was born in approximately 1818 in Tuckahoe, Maryland, enslaved. In 1838, he became free and also became an orator and writer to advocate the liberation and rights of his race. Booker T. Washington, born in a fourteen by sixteen log cabin, was also, like Frederick Douglass, born into slavery around 1856. He was declared free in 1865 and went on to also become a writer and orator to advocate his race. Both Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington are well known for being African Americans leaders of the 19th century, as well as former slaves, but few people know how vastly different their lives and beliefs were. Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington s lives were vastly different, including all of their childhood days, their middle struggles, and their later years. The early years of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington s were perhaps the most dramatic in contrast. Though Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington were both born into slavery, Frederick Douglass saw and experienced more of the bloodiness of slavery. In Bradley Strawser s Moral Predators, Strawser argues that we are obligated to employ uninhabited aerial vehicles (UAVs) weapon systems if it can be shown that their use does not significantly reduce a warfighter s operational capability. By their very nature UAVs evoke many ethical questions most of which are addressed by Strawser, who stresses there is no downside to UAVs. I would argue there are certainly some downsides to this technology. The aim of this paper is to provide legitimate moral objections to using drones in warfare. The first issue concerning UAVs deals with the inability for an opponent to surrender under the attack of a UAV strike. Additionally, I will discuss the possible increased inclination to start war... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collateral damage is a immoral justification for downplaying the killing of innocent people those of which UAVs still contribute to. That said, there is data to show that UAVs cause less collateral damage than traditional warfare technologies, but they may, at the same time, make war seem similar to a computer game, risk free and easy to pull the trigger. This leads me to consider the possibility that there is a lower threshold for their use and increased inclination for UAVs to proliferate and, perhaps, provoke a state of war. For obvious reasons (UAV pilots operating from hundreds or thousands of miles away), there s less risk of injury and death to our soldiers lives, which may have an affect on the impetus to start a war. It is important to analyze the historical implications of UAVs. Would the United states have entered war with Persian Gulf, Kosovo or Iraq if there was potential for retaliation on U.S soil. Would the the United States have entered those wars, if those countries could choose to counter attack with UAVs? A question of proportionate response also creates reasons to believe there are moral downsides to count against using drones. The increase of asymmetric warfare techniques by one side of the conflict leads to the rise of a response in asymmetric warfare by the other side. The X ray tube is designed with the anode attach to the rotor and cathode on the other side of anode. This design determines the characteristics of X ray beam. The cathode is a normal cathode is made up of negatively charge small coil wire called filaments, which is housed in focusing cup. The filament is negatively charged coil of wire which becomes heated when the electrical current passes through and when that energy becomes enough to expel the electrons from the filament its called Thermionic Emission. The function of cathode is to push out electrons which are produced by electric circuit and to turn those electron into a beam. The filament is contained in the cathode, usually design using a material known as Theorated tungsten. This theorated tungsten allows for a high temperature without the filament melting and there are different sizes of filament which can help to vary the spaceial resolution according to what is being x ray. The anode has two primary functions, one is to convert electronic energy into x radiation and the second one is to dissipate the heat created in the process. Considering wide use of twitter as the source of information, reaching an interesting tweet for user among a bunch of tweets is challenging. A huge amount of tweets sent per day by hundred millions of users, information overload is inevitable. For extracting information in large volume of tweets, Named Entity Recognition (NER), methods on formal texts. However, many applications in Information Retrieval (IR) and Natural Language Processing(NLP) suffer severely from the noisy and short nature of tweets. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for tweet segmentation in a batch mode, called HybridSeg by splitting tweets into meaningful segments, the semantic or context information is well preserved and easily extracted by the downstream applications. HybridSeg finds the optimal segmentation of a tweet by maximizing the sum of the stickiness scores of its candidate segments. The stickiness score considers the probability of a segment being a phrase in English (i.e., global context) and the probability of a segment being a phrase within the batch of tweets (i.e., local context). For the latter, we propose and evaluate two models to derive local context by considering the linguistic features and term dependency in a batch of tweets, respectively. HybridSeg is also designed to iteratively learn from confident segments as pseudo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Two Component Stressors Introduction Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986) in the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates itself upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a specific histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its cognate response regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the histidine kinase as it catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its conserved aspartic acid residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational change which activates the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted genes. As mentioned earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate response regulator if it is not stimulated to autophosphorylate. This system has vast variations and the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Trojan War was a Greek mythological war waged on account of the beautiful Helen, wife of the Spartan king Menelaus, being stolen from Greece by Paris, Prince of Troy. It is one of the most important, if not the most important, event in Greek mythology. The dispute originated from a quarrel between three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. They were fighting to see who was the fairest among them. They were sent by Zeus to Paris in order for him to judge them. War is not wrong, but it is wrong if waged for the wrong reasons. Was The Trojan War righteous? The Bible says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). After all, what is righteousness? It is acting in accord with moral or divine law. This is not the kind of divinity defined by the divine gods of ancient Greece, but the divinity that comes from the true Lord. According to His laws, waging a war on account of beautiful woman, is not righteous, or in alignment with moral law. After trying to disconnect myself from everything that involves media, I realized how much I rely on it to get me through each day. I was never this aware of its presence in today s society until disconnecting myself. Without media to rely on, I found myself having to readjust my whole normal routine just to get through the day. At the start of the day I found myself stressed, unorganized and uneasy. I use my cell phone as an alarm and by turning it off the night before I found myself waking up every few hours for fear of over sleeping. Without the use of my phone I was unable to receive team emails and texts from my captains and coaches which was one of the biggest obstacles I was faced with. Therefore, I had to rely on my friend/teammate, Emily to tell me updates and important information. At one point I could tell she was getting annoyed with me, having to update me regularly. She even told me she subconsciously sent me a text message because she was used to the constant communication throughout the day. Disconnecting myself completely from media provided me with a new opinion and outlook on its powerful role in my own life and in the world. Firstly, I noticed how much media speeds up our everyday lives. Essentially everyone is multitasking; it is a way of life in our society. I noticed multitasking at its finest when I went to the library later that day. People are researching online, writing papers, Facebook stalking, instant messaging and listening to their iPods all instantaneously. The instant access to everything has formed our culture. I find myself running on autopilot when it comes to using media. It took the full 24 hour fast for me to realize how dependent I really am on media to make it though the day. The stress I was feeling without the security of my phone or ability to communicate whenever I wanted to left me feeling helpless. Media not only speeds up daily activities, but it has given ... The decision to invade North Africa reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those of the Americans as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as 1942. American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North African campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted no part of a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American troops in North Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of Marshall and his military advisers on this point. b.As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti Axis alliance. In order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command the invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches and ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly every landing point. Nonetheless, dissension among the various French factions in North Africa limited the cohesiveness and effectiveness of the opposition. Ultimately, the magnitude and rapidity of the Allied ... We are not just any kind of clay, though, we re that special molding clay that never dries out. Because of this, we are constantly molded by almost everyone and everything surrounding our lives. At the beginning of life, we are molded by the hands of loving parents, but once we leave that safe place, we are on our own. At that point, we can be tossed, slammed, poked at, and sometimes even ripped apart. One important event in my life that molded me and has helped make me the person I am today was my first roller coasterride. Amusement rides don t usually change a person s life, but the first timeI went on a roller coaster, I found myself stepping off the ride as an entirely different person. Most people conquer their fear of heights or fast moving vehicles on thrill rides, but instead, I conquered the one thing most people are terrified to face. Something that s more horrific than monsters and demons, and that is yourself. For me, the ride was more of a journey than anything. From the beginning to the end, I learned a...
