Through carrying out audience research on production work, the author was able to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their draft work and how to create similarities between products. The audience commented that similar images of the main characters in the ancillary products showed they were the focus of the narrative. They also noticed a clear color theme of red, black and white that tied all the products together. Overall, the audience feedback highlighted that fonts signify the genre, similar images capture the narrative, layouts are uncluttered, locations signify romance, and edits like sound and split screens are effective storytelling techniques.

2. Audience feedback- creating
similarities.
• Through carrying out audience research on my production work I
was able to not only understand throughout my draft work, the
strengths and weaknesses, but also how to create similarities
between my products.
• On my production page, I use a padlet for my audience to comment
on my poster and magazine cover. My audience commented on the
“use of similar images of both the main characters which show they
are the main focus”. This feedback allowed me to understand the
importance of images in furthermore promoting the trailer. The
audience recognised the main characters and therefore were
already introduced to them before watching the trailer.
• The colour theme of the products were also noticed as the
audience said there was a clear theme of “red, black and white”.
This also tied the ancillary products in with the trailer as we used
red props and black fonts to continue this theme. The clothing also
promoted this colour theme.

• Fonts are mainly serif and therefore signify the genre of the trailer.
• Similar images in ancillary products show they are the main focus
and capture narrative.
• Uncluttered layout of magazine cover.
• Creative use of mise-en-scene; writing in the sand ‘here’s to us’.
• Varied use of locations that signify romance.
• Good use of editing, especially the sound of the door slamming.
• Good use of split screen, contrasting the characters.
• Clear voiceovers.
• Music matches fast-paced conflict parts of the trailer well.
• Scene behind ‘coming soon’ title screen is really creative, gives the
impression that the actor is leaving.
• The narrative is so much clearer by the final draft of the trailer and
there is more of an equal focus on both main characters.
