The document summarizes audience feedback received on a film trailer, magazine cover, and poster that were created for a target audience of 16-20 year olds. Feedback was collected through questionnaires and showed that most audience members preferred a storyline of a certain length and specific genres. Some problems encountered included lack of audio, credits, and dialogue in initial versions. Based on feedback, changes were made like adding a voiceover and soundtrack to make the trailer more engaging. Feedback also indicated the magazine cover and poster were generally attractive and conveyed the intended messages.
2. Target audience members: These are typical 16-20 year olds that would enjoy our film trailer and ancillary texts.
3. Initial audience feedback The initial audience feedback was used to get an initial response as to what aspects our target audience would enjoy in a film trailer. We would then be able to presume from the majority vote what things were preferred e.g. Music, title and genre. We accumulated all results and placed them in graphs and representative pie charts.
4. These are examples of results displayed in a graph and pie chart showing the majority preference in storyline length and genre selection
5. These are all the results collated in this organised chart to show the number of people who answered each question and the percentage(used for creating charts )
6. Problems encountered with our trailer We tried in every aspect of the film, to keep it to what the majority of our target audience preferred . At times we weren't able to do that for example we came across problems with the audio of the recording, therefore had to remove it. We tried to rectify the problem by adding music throughout, in a way representing what would’ve been said by the actors themselves.
7. Problems encountered continued... Once the trailer was watched by several members of our target audience. The general response was that the film lacked credits and people were interested to know the starring characters names. We did not include these aspects to keep the focus on the actual footage and what was going on rather than credits etc. We have made it our priority to adapt the films to the preferences of the audience. It will also help our film fit a more higher criteria .
9. Continued... After preparing a second audience feedback questionnaire, we found that 0% of people still found it the film attractive without a voiceover. So we decided to add one in halfway through including the tag line. This made the film more engaging towards the audience. It also compensated for the lack of dialogue within the trailer. 71% of our audience from our original audience feedback questionnaire only wanted ‘some dialogue’ Through faults we included a soundtrack obviously instead of dialogue. In the second audience feedback 70% didn't mind that there was a soundtrack rather than dialogue. Which proved the soundtrack was a good way to entice the audience in spite of no dialogue.
11. The magazine cover The magazine cover was less taxing to assemble and required less features and editing therefore the audience feedback questionnaire contained less questions. We used characters that are of similar age to our target audience and this may have helped the audience(90%) into buying the magazine because of them. 80% said they would pay £3.99 for the magazine which suggest the front cover is attractive,
12. The poster Similar to the magazine cover the poster required a little less work therefore required less questions to ask about it. The poster had one main image and limited text. 100% of our audience said yes to wanting to see the movie/trailer after seeing the poster. The genre of a psychological romance was 100% clear to our audience. This could have been due to the close relationship shown by the two characters closeness and facial expressions.
