This document discusses developing digital strategies in schools. It introduces Ian Phillips who chairs the Independent Schools Council (ISC) Digital Strategy Group. The document outlines challenges schools face in using EdTech to improve education and attract international students. It discusses developing "digital intelligence" and collaborations on data privacy, analytics, and developing a "Schools' Guide" to digital strategies. The guide aims to help schools inspire innovation, improve teacher workload, encourage collaboration, ensure infrastructure supports learning, and integrate safeguarding. It provides examples of gathering best practices from other schools to share.
Putting the learner at the centre – how people, processes and technology can ...Jisc
Speakers:
Rose Luckin, professor of learner centred design, UCL Knowledge Lab
Nick Woolley, head of library services, University of Northumbria
We all talk about being learner-centred, putting the learner’s needs first, and providing a personalised experience, but what does this actually mean in practice?
Our speakers present their perspectives on how we can put the learner at the heart of the system, and then take part in a panel discussion on ways forward for further and higher education.

What is Digital Governance and Why do I need it?Mark S. Steed
A presentation at the JESS Digital Innovation Summit on Sunday 4th November 2018 by Mark Steed, Director of JESS Dubai, and Jim Stearns, Head of Secondary and Deputy Principal, Victoria International School, Sharjah.
Speaker: Luke Parry, business development manager, Collabco.
Digitalisation is connecting people, universities and countries in ways that vastly increase our potential. But in equal measure is making the world volatile, complex and uncertain.
While there are differing views on the role that digital technology can and should play in universities, we cannot ignore how digital tools have fundamentally transformed the world outside of the lecture hall and how preparing students needs to start with university practices.
A full university without a physical classroom. A math teacher in China becoming multi-millionaire by having millions of online students. Those stories sound illusory but have actually become a reality thanks to the advancement of digital technologies which are reshaping various industries today, from banking, transportation, newspaper to health care and education. How education institutions can change to adapt and operate effectively in the digital age, bringing values to both teachers and students?
This is a personal presentation that can be used for PhD motivational interview or similar postgraduate admission. Also, can be modified for individual research projects or consultancy, or similar positions.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Editor's Notes
Hello My Name is Ian Phillips and I work at The Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School I am Chair Independent Schools Council (ISC) Digital strategy Group and
Delighted to have the chance to be part of this conversation today and also invite you to contribute to our most recent project
Crowd Sourcing a Schools guide to Developing Digital
This is the part I would like to discuss today
Most important is the Experience skills and knowledge all incredibly important
ISCDigital Aim to iterate a schools guide to developing digital in conversations with schools and EdTech companies to break the problem down and share Bright Spots stories of success just like everyone else to make it easier. I met Michael a few weeks ago and we saw the potential overlap which we are discussing further.
ISCDigital Aim to iterate a schools guide to developing digital in collaboration with schools and EdTech companies to share stories of the Bright Spots of success to make it easier to give the students the experience they deserve by making IT work like electricity for all schools
This is in simple term knowing when to use technology and when to put the phone down but needs experience of consistent reliable technology to be able to develop.
Examples of collaboration through partnerships and relationships -
This Schools Guide is for senior leaders, teachers and governors on how to develop digital across the curriculum and understand how to transfer digital success between education institutions. The guide is a user manual for developing digital.
We worked to create a response to the disappointing Independent schools survey result 900 schools contributed and 2/3 said weren’t getting best value and safeguard children and data.
Our problem To iterate a schools’ guide to developing digital in conversations with schools and EdTech companies to break the problem down and share Bright Spots through stories of success just like everyone else to make it easier.
This Schools Guide is for senior leaders, teachers and governors on how to develop digital across the curriculum and how to transfer digital success between education institutions. The guide is a user manual for developing digital.
It should complement the DFE “Realising the Potential of Technology in Education” and EEF “Using Digital Technology to Improve Learning”; to help develop use of technology and help our young people to become digitally intelligent
Aim must be Transferability so we have been working with a wide range of Organisations to get feedback
e.g. Intel, Microsoft, HP, ISBA, ISTE, HMC, ANME
This is what inspiring use of IT can look like
Old boys, parents all working together with EdTech companies and teachers and students
The guide will be focussed around an IT ‘Six Pack’ framework for Developing Digital elements and using examples from EdTech50 Schools to explain practically
The guide would be used as tool for conversation, planning and implementing the use of technology to support teaching and learning across the curriculum and will complement the DFE “Realising the Potential of Technology in Education” and EEF “Using Digital Technology to Improve Learning”; providing a mechanism and the people to help implement effective use of technology in schools to help our young people to become digitally intelligent
The guide is encouraging the development of learning networks within schools and between schools to support the effective development of the use of digital across the curriculum.
What does this look like in practice?
Worked with Education foundation nearly 200 response and such a wealth of information about how schools are using technology effectively which we are doing to digest and share
Stories from a range of people from Steve Molyneux who some of you may know from his work with
Lamar University in Texas, Apple or now Tablet academy on the importance of restating the case for Training
Mark Budgen commercial manager now working with Leonovo on developing emerging technologies.
Mark has Written a great blog on the importance of pre and post sales partnerships in procurement for schools to get the most from their technology investment
Sarah Williamson from Sevenoaks has shared digital strategy templates and talks about the combination of bottom-up intelligence as well as top-down vision in creating innovative spaces for learning with embedded technology.
Dr Neelam Parmar on how their digital strategy is having an amazing impact on staff and students reducing workload for everyone, increasing productivity, developing pedagogy to make the most of the digital tools
Thought Piece: An Holistic Strategy Is Key to Teaching & Learning Transformation – restating the case for Training
Steve Molyneux Thought Piece: An Holistic Strategy Is Key to Teaching & Learning Transformation – restating the case for Training
Still iterating any ideas please let me know its all on the website and I want to share your stories.
Our aim is simple to share what we see as good practice and how good relationships with each other and EdTech companies can develop to impacting on student learning and helping us get the best ROI in education
I think we could be using Tech better to reduce teacher workload and inspire our students to be the innovators and entrepreneurs the world will need to solve the problems in a future we don’t understand.
