4. Differences
 Penguins are a group of aquatic,
flightless birds and polar bears are
carnivorous.
 Penguin lives in the southern
hemisphere, especially in Antarctica
whereas Polar bear lives in Arctic circle
encompassing the Arctic Ocean.
 Penguins have counter shaded dark and
white plumage and their wings have
evolved into flippers.
 Polar bears are white and furry and have
four legs.
 Different species will travel different
distances when they are looking for food.

8. Kyoto protocol
The Kyoto Protocol is an international
agreement created under the United
Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Kyoto
Japan in 1997.

9. INTRODUCTION
 Over the past decade, as the evidence of climate
change became clearer and better understood, a strong
international movement for action has emerged.
 The UNFCCC came into effect in March, 1994, but
despite this establishment, very little action was taken
around the world.
 The Kyoto Protocol which was agreed upon on
December 11, 1997, at a meeting of the UNFCCC in
Kyoto, Japan was created as an effort to force action on
the international community.

10. When did the Kyoto Protocol Come
 The Kyoto Protocol became a legally binding treaty on
16 February 2005. It could only come into force after
two conditions had been fulfilled:
 It had been ratified by at least 55 countries.
 It had been ratified by nations accounting for at least
55% of emissions from what the Treaty calls "Annex 1"
countries - 38 industrialized countries given targets for
reducing emissions, plus Belarus, Turkey and now
Kazakhstan.

11. Why did the US pull out
 China and India fall into this category, although they
are two of the world's biggest producers of greenhouse
gases.

12. Industrialized country
 Industrialized countries, which Asser called Annex
I Parties under the Convention, have additional
commitments.
 These Parties initially agreed to undertake policies
and measures with the specific aim of returning
their greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by
2000.

13. Conclusion
 The Kyoto Protocols are the global framework to
address climate change in an effort to reduce
carbon dioxide emissions.
 . Reductions in carbon emissions are achievable
with ambitious action by countries and their
leaders.
 The Protocol is not strict enough to significantly
impact the rising CO2 concentrations.
 This not only affects global temperature, but the
distribution of ecosystems as well.
