COURSE DESCRIPTION
C2 in English (CEFR)
Around 100 hours
 From 12th September 2019 to 5th or 7th May
2020
 Tuesdays (everyone)
 Thursdays (for those in the regular group),
for those in “cursos semipresenciales, the
online work doesn’t necessarily have to be
done on Thursday, but it has to be done
during the week).
 Develop communication in varied situations
personal, academic, professional..in a
natural way, understanding and producing
texts with rich vocabulary and structures,
dealing with topics that are abstract and
concrete, of a general or specialized
character, in different registers and styles.
 Speaking: debating, discussing, negotiating,
presentations (complex topics).
 Reading: authentic books, internet,
newspapers.
 Listening: interviews, YouTube, radio, news,
TV, TED talks.
 Writing: expressing opinions, discursive
essays, articles, formal letters (covering
letters, job applications, asking for funding,
suggesting a course of action), making
proposals, reviews and reports.
 Review grammar (inversion and fronting,
ways of expressing emphasis, modal
verbs, tenses and complex phrasal verbs,
complex verb patterns, prepositions and
relative clauses)
 Review and learn vocabulary: specialised
and abstract, colloquial and academic
expressions, idioms, and common sayings.
Topics: work, health, gaming and sports,
current affairs, history, headlines, news
and media, business, trends, law.
“Outcomes Advanced, 2nd edition”
National Geographic Learning, with Workbook(optional)
 At least, one authentic book from a selection
you can find in our course Moodle to share in
a book club class after Christmas and for a
book review compilation in a padlet.
Oral presentation:
5 minutes based on an article from a recent
newspaper or magazine in English) with a short
follow-up in-class discussion.

vocabulary).
 Watch videos (answer questions, prepare
discussions)
 Read articles (answer questions, prepare
discussions).
 Write shorter or longer pieces.
 Prepare and record oral presentations.
From the school’s website, go to Acceso a
Aula virtual on the right and in Departamento
de Inglés click on Ramiro Cebreiros class and
enter:
 Work and study every week
 Check our Moodle in Educamadrid
 Listen to the radio in English, watch series
and films in English, talk to native English
Speakers, read newspapers, magazines,
books in English, go to the school’s library.
 Come to class.
1) CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT: through work in
class, written assignments, oral tasks, etc.
2) EXAMS
 Mid-term exam 4th February (to be confirmed)
 Final exam (May) (to be announced).
 Exam Convocatoria extraordinaria
(June), (to be announced).
 The exams will test each of the following five parts:
A minimum of 5 (out of 10) must be obtained in each part. If the
total averages 6.5 (out of 10) the course will be passed.
The midterm exam and coursework will help you pass the course.
 In June, only the skills that haven’t been passed must be
retaken.

 “Renuncia” can be done two months after
the beginning of classes, without any proof
of anything.

  • 2. C2 in English (CEFR)
  • 4.  From 12th September 2019 to 5th or 7th May 2020  Tuesdays (everyone)  Thursdays (for those in the regular group), for those in “cursos semipresenciales, the online work doesn’t necessarily have to be done on Thursday, but it has to be done during the week).
  • 5.  Develop communication in varied situations personal, academic, professional..in a natural way, understanding and producing texts with rich vocabulary and structures, dealing with topics that are abstract and concrete, of a general or specialized character, in different registers and styles.
  • 6.  Speaking: debating, discussing, negotiating, presentations (complex topics).  Reading: authentic books, internet, newspapers.  Listening: interviews, YouTube, radio, news, TV, TED talks.  Writing: expressing opinions, discursive essays, articles, formal letters (covering letters, job applications, asking for funding, suggesting a course of action), making proposals, reviews and reports.
  • 7.  Review grammar (inversion and fronting, ways of expressing emphasis, modal verbs, tenses and complex phrasal verbs, complex verb patterns, prepositions and relative clauses)  Review and learn vocabulary: specialised and abstract, colloquial and academic expressions, idioms, and common sayings. Topics: work, health, gaming and sports, current affairs, history, headlines, news and media, business, trends, law.
  • 8. “Outcomes Advanced, 2nd edition” National Geographic Learning, with Workbook(optional)
  • 9.  At least, one authentic book from a selection you can find in our course Moodle to share in a book club class after Christmas and for a book review compilation in a padlet.
  • 10. Oral presentation: 5 minutes based on an article from a recent newspaper or magazine in English) with a short follow-up in-class discussion.
  • 12. OBLIGATORY ATTENDANCE OF 70%: NO NOTES TAKEN MISSING MORE THAN 70%: “PÉRDIDA DE OFICIALIDAD” POSSIBILITY OF DOING EXAMS
  • 13.  Communicative, but YOU HAVE TO SPEAK, PARTICIPATE and do the ONLINE WORK (if enrolled in a “curso semipresencial”.)
  • 14.  From textbook activities (grammar and vocabulary).  Watch videos (answer questions, prepare discussions)  Read articles (answer questions, prepare discussions).  Write shorter or longer pieces.  Prepare and record oral presentations.

  • 16.  Work and study every week  Check our Moodle in Educamadrid
  • 17.  Listen to the radio in English, watch series and films in English, talk to native English Speakers, read newspapers, magazines, books in English, go to the school’s library.  Come to class.
  • 18. 1) CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT: through work in class, written assignments, oral tasks, etc. 2) EXAMS  Mid-term exam 4th February (to be confirmed)  Final exam (May) (to be announced).  Exam Convocatoria extraordinaria (June), (to be announced).
  • 19.  The exams will test each of the following five parts: A minimum of 5 (out of 10) must be obtained in each part. If the total averages 6.5 (out of 10) the course will be passed. The midterm exam and coursework will help you pass the course.  In June, only the skills that haven’t been passed must be retaken.   • 23.  If you are disabled, please come and talk to me for exams and classes to be adapted.  Deadline for deregister in the course (Anulación Matrícula oficial) is 30th March 2020.  “Renuncia” can be done two months after the beginning of classes, without any proof of anything.  YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK.  SORRY!!!!
  • 24.  Please don’t leave us!  First month: “permuta”, look for another student who wants to change with you (there is a list on a notice board, steps to 1st floor) then go to Secretaría and talk to me.  Later: ask me if it’s possible and then go to “Secretaría”.
