“Freedom in Christ – A Life of Faith through Grace”
A Sermon Series on the Letter to the Galatians

“Christian Love, Fellowship and
Accountability”
Galatians 6

Hebrews 10:24-25

Let's also think about how to motivate each other to show love
and to do good works. Don't stop meeting together with other
believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing.
Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day
drawing near.
“Living life together” means learning to love and live with people
who may be different than us.
It involves a willingness to be open with one another, to hold
others accountable, and to be held accountable by others.
We cannot grow spiritually on our own.
We must be connected to the vine - to Jesus - and in doing so we
are called to grow together as the Body of Christ - to LIVE LIFE
TOGETHER!
Even the most faithful of believers are prone to falling into sin
from temptation.
Without boundaries, we are sure to suffer the consequences of
sin.
We’ve all been guilty of not establishing accountability with God
and with His people.
Galatians 6:1-10

Brothers and sisters, if a person is caught doing something wrong,
you who are spiritual should restore someone like this with a
spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourselves so you won't be
tempted too. Carry each other's burdens and so you will fulfill the
law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are important when they
aren't, they're fooling themselves. Each person should test their
own work and be happy with doing a good job and not compare
themselves with others. Each person will have to carry their own
load. Those who are taught the word should share all good things
with their teacher.
Make no mistake, God is not mocked. A person will harvest what
they plant. Those who plant only for their own benefit will
harvest devastation from their selfishness, but those who plant
for the benefit of the Spirit will harvest eternal life from the
Spirit. Let's not get tired of doing good, because in time we'll have
a harvest if we don't give up. So then, let's work for the good of
all whenever we have an opportunity, and especially for those in
the household of faith.
We were created to live a life of love, fellowship, and
accountability.

Questions for Personal or Group Reflection
1. What are some specific ways of expressing love to others that
Paul mentions in Galatians 6:1-10? Which of them stand out to you
as especially pertinent in your life?

instead?
3. “What we do with material things is an evidence of how we
value spiritual things.” Give some examples of how this can play
out in a person’s life.
4. How is a Christian spiritually nourished?
5. How can you “plant for the benefit of the Spirit” (Gal 6:8) this
week?
6. How can you live as if what counts is the new creation? (Gal
6:15)

Dr. Kelley needs your help.

Dr. Alan Kelley of Medical Teams Worldwide spoke recently about
his upcoming trip to Africa. He has a connection with a local
African pastor and his family, who feed 30 orphaned children in
their home. You can contribute to this cause by putting money
(change, bills, checks) in the container on the corner of the
Information Desk in the foyer. Dr. Kelley will take the funds with
him when he goes to Africa at the end of the month and give them
to Pastor Sampson.
Dr. Kelley is leaving soon. Any last minute donations should be
called in to the Church office. 425-483-5252.

MacArthur
Three major themes are seen in the Book of Nehemiah - careful

opposition. Through it all, God orchestrated the reconstruction of
the wall of His city to accomplish His purpose for then and
now. Cost: $5.

Weekly news from WCUMC 2 23-2014

  • 1. Weekly News from WCUMC-2/23/2014 “Freedom in Christ – A Life of Faith through Grace” A Sermon Series on the Letter to the Galatians “Christian Love, Fellowship and Accountability” Galatians 6 Hebrews 10:24-25 Let's also think about how to motivate each other to show love and to do good works. Don't stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near. “Living life together” means learning to love and live with people who may be different than us. It involves a willingness to be open with one another, to hold others accountable, and to be held accountable by others.
  • 2. We cannot grow spiritually on our own. We must be connected to the vine - to Jesus - and in doing so we are called to grow together as the Body of Christ - to LIVE LIFE TOGETHER! Even the most faithful of believers are prone to falling into sin from temptation. Without boundaries, we are sure to suffer the consequences of sin. We’ve all been guilty of not establishing accountability with God and with His people. Galatians 6:1-10 Brothers and sisters, if a person is caught doing something wrong, you who are spiritual should restore someone like this with a spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourselves so you won't be tempted too. Carry each other's burdens and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are important when they aren't, they're fooling themselves. Each person should test their own work and be happy with doing a good job and not compare themselves with others. Each person will have to carry their own load. Those who are taught the word should share all good things with their teacher. Make no mistake, God is not mocked. A person will harvest what they plant. Those who plant only for their own benefit will harvest devastation from their selfishness, but those who plant for the benefit of the Spirit will harvest eternal life from the Spirit. Let's not get tired of doing good, because in time we'll have a harvest if we don't give up. So then, let's work for the good of all whenever we have an opportunity, and especially for those in the household of faith. We were created to live a life of love, fellowship, and accountability. _____________________________________________________ _____ Questions for Personal or Group Reflection 1.
