It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Mindfulness, defined as the conscious, non-judgmental observation of the present moment, has deep roots in Buddhist meditation practice but has gained significant popularity in the Western world in recent years. In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.

“Growing In Our Christian Life
A Sermon Series on the Book of James
“Avoiding Slander and Arrogance”
James 4:11-17
James 4:11-17
11
Brothers and sisters, don’t say evil things about each other.
Whoever insults or criticizes a brother or sister insults and criticizes
the Law. If you find fault with the Law, you are not a doer of the
Law but a judge over it. 12
There is only one lawgiver and judge, and
he is able to save and to destroy. But you who judge your neighbor,
who are you?
13
Pay attention, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to
such-and-such a town. We will stay there a year, buying and selling,
and making a profit.” 14
You don’t really know about tomorrow. What
is your life? You are a mist that appears for only a short while before
it vanishes. 15
Here’s what you ought to say: “If the Lord wills, we
will live and do this or that.” 16
But now you boast and brag, and all
such boasting is evil. 17
It is a sin when someone knows the right thing
to do and doesn’t do it.
2. God’s will is for us to not say evil things about others... DON’T
SLANDER OTHERS!
11
Brothers and sisters, don’t say evil things about each other.
Whoever insults or criticizes a brother or sister insults and criticizes
the Law. If you find fault with the Law, you are not a doer of the
Law but a judge over it.
To say evil things of another person means to judge them. But
there is only one judge: God. To judge another person puts oneself
in the position of God.
12
There is only one lawgiver and judge, and he is able to save and to
destroy. But you who judge your neighbor, who are you?
James points out three different responses toward the will of
God...
1. Ignoring God’s Will (vs. 13-14, 16) - PRIDE
13
Pay attention, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to
such-and-such a town. We will stay there a year, buying and selling,
and making a profit.” 14 You don’t really know about tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for only a short while
before it vanishes...
... 16
But now you boast and brag, and all such boasting is evil.
James is dealing with the pervasive problem of human pride and
presumption.
2. Disobeying God’s Will (verse 17)
17
It is a sin when someone knows the right thing to do and doesn’t do
it.
3. Obeying God’s Will (verse 15)
15
Here’s what you ought to say: “If the Lord wills, we will live and do
this or that.”
We can choose arrogance and disobedience, or humility.
The core dynamic of a Disciple of Jesus is... Humility.
For Personal or Group Reflection
1. What makes us want to talk about other people who are not
present with us? Do you lift them up... or criticize them?
2. If your name came up in a conversation among others and it turned
to personal attacks and ill speaking wouldn’t you want someone there
to stand up for you? How does that impact the way you will act when
this begins to happen to someone else in one of your conversations?
3. Arrogance comes from pride, and pride comes from insecurity,
which comes from the deep-seated need to cover over an internal
3. brokenness or wound by projecting a false self. Reflect on that
statement.
4. What would it mean to ask God to inspire your planning from the
beginning instead of asking God to bless the plans you have come up
with in the end? How can you move in that direction today?
