The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Sermon Series- A Heart Exam for the Church -
Christ’s Message to the Seven Churches
(Revelation 1-3)
"Lukewarm Faith"
Revelation 3:14-22
To the Church in Laodicea
“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the
Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation.
“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were
either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor
cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have
prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched,
pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold
refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you
may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen,
and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I
reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the
door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come
in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I
will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat
down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear
what the Spirit says to the churches.’
2. In this message, Jesus Christ reveals four things that Church at
Laodicea had lost:
1. Their passion - They were lukewarm in their relationship with
Christ
2. Their values - They trusted in and valued "worldly materials" and
saw themselves as self-dependent and self-sufficient. They lived
as if they didn't need God.
3. Their vision - They had taken their eyes off of Jesus and looked
only to the world and themselves. They could not see themselves
as they really were.
4. Their "spiritual clothing" - they were covered with the sin and
self-centeredness of this world and had lost the "white clothing"
of god's righteousness and grace.
Jesus explains the path to revival is through correction and
discipline. He admonishes them to change their hearts and lives and
accept Christ's invitation.
Don't' lock Christ out of your life! If you do, you will be imprisoned in
a life of sin and separated from God.
